Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

NHTSA #24V763000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid, and 2025 Honda Civic and Civic Hybrid vehicles. The high-pressure fuel pump may crack and leak fuel.

Reported consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the high-pressure fuel pump as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed February 20, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is PJW.

STEERING

NHTSA #24V744000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Acura Integra, Civic Type R, CR-V Hybrid, CR-V, HR-V, 2022-2025 Civic, Civic Hatchback, 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S, 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell EV, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Hatchback Hybrid vehicles. The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle.

Reported consequence: Difficulty steering can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the worm gear spring and redistribute or add grease as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2024. Owners may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are SJS, MJU, QJT and VJV.

TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE

NHTSA #26V366000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2026 CR-V Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and 2025-2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EV vehicles. When using the tire repair kit, pressure may build within the sealant bottle, causing the bottle cap to detach.

Reported consequence: A detached bottle cap can become a projectile and strike the user or others nearby, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the tire repair kit nozzle or sealant bottle, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 27, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in Fall 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is DOV. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning June 11, 2026.

TIRES:MARKINGS

NHTSA #24V508000

Honda (America Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024 CR-V vehicles. The tire identification number (TIN) is missing the four-digit date code. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles."

Reported consequence: An owner whose TIN information is missing may not recognize that their vehicle is involved in a safety recall and continue to drive on recalled tires, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 27, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is BIS.

Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

I am filing a complaint regarding a serious safety incident involving my 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid. On XXX, at approximately 3:00 PM PST, the moonroof of my vehicle suddenly exploded while I was driving on the freeway. At the time of the incident, there were no objects, debris, rocks, or other vehicles near my car that could have impacted the moonroof. The glass shattered unexpectedly without any apparent external cause. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by Honda Auto Center in Bellevue, Washington. Following their inspection, no evidence of an external impact, stone strike, road debris, or any other outside factor was found. Apart from the shattered moonroof, there is no other damage to the vehicle. Based on these findings, I believe this may be the result of a manufacturing or material defect. This incident has rendered the vehicle unsafe to operate. Continued driving causes the moonroof glass to crack further, increasing the risk of glass fragments becoming dislodged. As a result, I am unable to use the vehicle for commuting to work. Additionally, given the frequent rainfall in the Seattle area, leaving the vehicle parked outdoors in its current condition exposes it to potential water damage. Most importantly, this situation presents a significant safety hazard. There is a risk that glass fragments could fall from the vehicle while driving, potentially endangering me, my passengers, and other motorists on the road. The sudden failure of the moonroof itself was also alarming and could have caused a loss of concentration or control while driving. There were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms when this problem occured.

Incident 1 — April 23, 2026 | ~71,289 miles While merging onto the freeway, multiple warning lights illuminated simultaneously on the dashboard. Vehicle exhibited uncontrolled acceleration and became unsafe to operate. Incident was captured on video. Vehicle was driven to Salinas Honda [XXX] ). Dealer performed two open safety recalls: Campaign 24-049:6YP00 (Fuel Pump Safety Recall, 2023–25 Multi Model Hybrids) and Campaign 24-117:6JP00 (EPS Gearbox Greasing Safety Recall, 2023–25 CR-V). Work Order #XXX. Incident 2 — April 24, 2026 | 71,302 miles Warning lights returned the same day the vehicle was retrieved from the dealer — within hours of release. Vehicle was returned immediately to Salinas Honda. Dealer found misfire codes (P0300, P0302, P0303), performed a hard battery reset and steering angle relearn, and conducted a 30-mile test drive. Vehicle was released as repaired. Invoice #XXX. Incident 3 — April 24, 2026 (current) Following the second dealer visit, vehicle was driven approximately 90 miles from [XXX] to [XXX] without incident. Approximately 30 minutes after parking, vehicle was restarted for a short local trip. Upon restart, the engine emitted a loud abnormal noise and exhibited severe difficulty accelerating. On April 27, 2026, a third party OBD-II scan performed at Autozone confirmed active misfire codes P0300, P0302, and P0303 were still present following a hard battery reset performed by the owner's. Codes were not cleared by the reset. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I received a safety recall notice that states that Honda will be replacing the fuel pump due to "improper production". Honda is refusing to replace the fuel pump. They are now stating that they only need to test the pump even though the recall is very clear that it is to be replaced.

The alarm and key fob system has a defect, causing me to lose my vehicle via theft. Police and insurance adjuster informed me that Honda CRV’s such as mine are vulnerable to key fob cloning and silent theft. This happened to me on December 4, 2025, between 4:56-4:59am

Sunroof malfunction and opened on its own

NHTSA #11680343

The backup camera on my 2024 honda CRV switches to black and white in hot weather. Depending on how hot, it may either stay black and white or rapidly switch back and forth. Not only is this a distraction while backing up but the washed out black and white image makes it much harder to differentiate between the roadway and objects in it. The issue has been confirmed by my local dealership and they told me replacing parts does not fix the issue. There is no known fix at this time. I switch to relying entirely on my mirrors when this happens but this does reduce overall visibility, especially for small objects and children.

NHTSA #11682883

PASSENGER MIRROR CRACKED FOR NO APPERENT REASON.THE CRACK GOES DOWN THE ENTIRE MIRROR.

NHTSA #11654767

The sunroof of my CR-V spontaneously exploded. I was driving on a two lane road and was not near an underpass. There were no vehicles directly in front of me. No objects were found inside the vehicle after the glass shattered. The sunroof made a popping sound and then the glass shattered. The glass blew into the car and onto myself and my passenger. I was able to slowly pull over the vehicle onto a side road. Neither my passenger, nor I, were injured by the glass. This incident could have impacted not only our safety, with the glass coming directly into the car, but could have affected the safety of any oncoming traffic if I had not controlled the vehicle. The glass could have also affected any vehicles directly behind us. I was not on a highway, but if I was, my speed would have been greater and the impact potentially more severe. I had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealer. Honda has replaced the sunroof. The Honda dealer that the vehicle was taken to has not had any other complaints about spontaneously exploding sunroofs.

NHTSA #11649089

Drivers side mirror cracked. No contact was made with anything, it just cracked. Honda would not cover as part of warranty. It created a huge safety concern as the visual out of this mirror was on two different planes and you could not see clearly to make a lane change. I did have it replaced but had to pay for the replacement. With this car being less that a year old, and how it cracked spontaneously I felt that should have been a covered warranty replacement. This issue is currently being investigated for a class action lawsuit. I have the mirror as evidence, if it was made with faulty materials. I've owned nothing short of 27 vehicles in my life, 7 of which were Honda's and I've never had this happen. I really think that the mirrors were a manufacturers defect on this car.

NHTSA #11641194

Driver side mirror cracked on its own

NHTSA #11641409

The drivers side mirror cracked by itself when the vehicle was parked. Honda refused to warranty the mirror

NHTSA #11649997

Factory Tailgate mounted rear backup camera shows a very soft image, and gets a washed out appearance when backing up in near total darkness. This is when it would be most useful, unfortunately, this is when it is useless. The lens has been cleaned so dirty films on the lens surface should not be an issue. I do not believe this meets up with standards set by the government, for the capabilies of a rear view camera.

NHTSA #11639410

My brand new vehicle is in the dealership for the 5th time. 1st incidence was well under 6K miles. Upon diagnosis they changed all 4 fuel injectors and again my car broke last night. Lost power in the middle of the highway leaving me stranded on a deadly situation. It has power system charging issue in the dashboard with all the lights lit up. I no longer feel safer in this car.

Visibility/Wiper13 complaints

The driver‑side mirror on my 2024 Honda CR‑V Hybrid Sport has a persistent vibration issue that affects visibility and safety. At speeds above approximately 65–70 mph, the mirror shakes noticeably, making it difficult to clearly see vehicles in adjacent lanes. This creates a significant safety concern when changing lanes, merging, or monitoring traffic. The mirror assembly was already replaced once by my Honda dealer, but the vibration has returned and is now worse than before. This indicates that the issue is not limited to a single defective part but may be related to the design, mounting, or structural stability of the mirror assembly on this model. Many other owners of 2023 and 2024 Honda CR‑V models have reported the same driver‑side mirror vibration problem through online forums and NHTSA complaints. The pattern suggests a widespread defect that affects visibility and could increase the risk of accidents, especially at highway speeds. Because this is a repeat failure that impacts safe operation of the vehicle, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue. The vibration reduces the driver’s ability to accurately judge surrounding traffic and creates a potential hazard. Please document this as a recurring safety defect associated with my VIN.

• The wipers do not distribute washer fluid at all to the passenger side of the windshield. The design of washer fluid distribution is terrible and this is obviously quite dangerous. • All vehicle occupants, and others outside the vehicle are at risk due to poor visibility that can occur when dirt/salt accumulate on the windshield and can't be wiped away properly and the driver cannot see clearly on 1/2 the windshield. • Yes. This is a known issue and just "By Design" • Many other CR-V (6th Generation) owners experience the same issue. Honda won't fix it. • No warning lights appear. This is a massive design flaw. Lastly: I have not seen an improvement of the design of the washer fluid distribution in subsequent models which leads me to believe that Honda may not properly address this issue until the next generation of CR-Vs. That said, many of us customers have been discussing how to solve this with aftermarket wiper fluid sprays since Honda is not fixing it for us.

NHTSA #11741692

I am reporting a significant safety concern regarding the windshield of my 2024 Honda CR-V. Under [Insert Typical Conditions, e.g., cold mornings / high humidity], a persistent, splotchy haze or "frosting" effect develops on the interior/exterior of the glass. The standard defrosting system and windshield wipers are unable to clear this obstruction effectively. This creates a dangerous loss of visibility, especially at highway speeds or in low-light conditions, forcing me to pull over until the glass clears. Additional Details: Failed Remedies: Attempts to clean the glass with standard automotive cleaners have not resolved the issue, suggesting a factory-related film or defect in the glass/HVAC integration. Safety Risk: The sudden onset of this frosting/haze while driving significantly increases the risk of a collision due to obscured forward vision. Manufacturer Contact: when I mention this to honda dealer. The dealer mentioned thats how its designed without a proper resolution

The back up camera becomes blurred or unusable in rain and is worse after drying. This is not momentary water droplets. I spoke with NTSA and their reply was based solely on the owner’s manual, despite ongoing loss of rear visibility in wet conditions. I am requesting escalation and review for camera replacement or an updated part, not cleaning. Please don’t refuse to address a backup camera visibility failure, citing the owner’s manual. I need a formal case opened for a rear-visibility safety defect.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The rear windshield (tempered glass) and the integrated rear defroster heating element system. Yes, the vehicle and the shattered glass (contained within the frame/cargo area) are available for immediate inspection. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Luckily, this incident occurred when I entered the vehicle not on a roadway. If it had occurred when I was driving its is quite unsafe. The spontaneous failure occurred with a loud explosion, creating an immediate distraction and startle hazard. The shattering resulted in tempered glass shards entering the cabin and falling onto the exterior roadway. This failure compromises the structural integrity of the vehicle, obstructs rear visibility, and exposes the interior to the elements. Had this occurred at highway speeds or with passengers in the rear seat, the risk of injury from glass spray or a secondary collision due to driver distraction would be significant. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?: No. I contacted Honda of Lynnwood to have the failure confirmed and inspected, but they declined to schedule an appointment. They stated they could not address the issue because it is not classified as a "recall," despite the existence of a Voluntary Production Update for this specific defect. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?: Not yet. The vehicle is currently awaiting inspection. I am seeking this inspection from Honda of Lynnwood as part of the formal claim process, but have been met with resistance from the dealership. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lamps or electronic messages. The failure was spontaneous.

When using the wiper washer the fluid does not spray well and windshield does not get clean especially the passenger side. Very poor design.

NHTSA #11704785

Rear window imploded/broke by its self. I was parked about to back up when it happened. loud crashing of the glass made me jump. I stopped got out of the car and was shocked that the window was broken. People on the sidewalks stopped and looked in shock as well. The car behind me had 2 people in it that were just pulling in to park and they saw it just implode. If I would have been driving at the time I could have been in a bad accident. The shattered glass sounded like a gun. I called and told HONDA the problem. They directed me to this site. HRV's have been reported having this problem per the HONDA person on the phone. My insurance had not heard of the problem. Even though my car is a 2024 they would not cover with HONDA parts per my policy, so I have an aftermarket rear window. The glass was installed/cleaned up and inspected by the glass/collision company LaMettry's in Plymouth, MN. NO warnings that this was going to happen.

NHTSA #11700936

On this vehicle, the washer fluid sprays intermittently by design. In theory, this would save fluid but the timing of the spray makes it so a majority of the right/passenger side windshield stays completely dry or gets just enough spray to smear around any obstruction that is on the windshield. I have had several times now where I need to clean my windshield from dirty road spray and end up needing to pull in to a gas station to get out and clean my windshield. There are online forums that talk extensively about this issue and seems to effect all 23 and newer Honda CRVs.

NHTSA #11690096

Sunroof exploded. Some glass fell on passengers inside of vehicle. Our vehicle is at the dealership waiting for inspection by someone from Honda. This happened without warning while we were driving at approx. 60mph. Heard a loud boom and realized the sunroof has broken. There was nothing around us or over head when this happened. We were traveling on a smooth two lane road with no other vehicles in front or behind us. AGAIN, this happened very suddenly without any warning. I did see on the internet that there have been similar cases of this failure happening in 2024 and 2025 CRV's.

On [XXX] I parked my 2024 Honda CR-V EXL on my driveway as I do every night. Night time temperatures that night dipped into the digits, around 6 or 7 degrees. The next morning, as I prepared to take my wife to work, I noticed a vertical crack on the driver's side rear view mirror. My vehicle is still less than one-year old. Online I have read that this is not an isolated occurrence with Honda CR-Vs. I will take my car back to the Honda dealer in Bethesda, MD tomorrow, January 29th. Steering13 complaints

My 2024 Honda CRV was part of the recall for potential steering gearbox issues. Recall repair took place on 4/2/2025. Steering problem has persisted ("sticky steering") and when I had the steering checked today (5/6/2026) during a regular maintenance appointment, I was notified entire steering gearbox assembly should be replaced. Upon further research I discovered this is an ongoing issue 2023-2024 Honda models due to improperly assembled gearbox components. The recall repair included a new spring and additional grease to the worm gear. This was clearly insufficient and the recall should include complete replacement of the steering gearbox assembly with a properly manufactured unit. I have included via upload copies of the recall repair and diagnosis of the problem and associated cost from today's regular maintenance.

I want to announce that is going to be 78 DAYS on Monday 21st of this month! Since I discovered after the recall repair done at authorized Honda dealership on Jan the 15th. I'm a vehicle inspector and have documented and recorded on live video on the steering problem that this vehicle that we have owned on new conditions. Honda and even the arbitrator according to them I don't have enough evidence for this vehicle to be re-repaired again. On California lemon law anything that has been more than a month qualifies for a replacement or a refund. The problem is that the dealership states that is normal operation standards to them. I need a 3rd party inspection or an attorney that can represent, we have solid evidence that after the recall repair still has the same issue. I'm a nobody without help. Contacted BAR as well. I need someone that investigates deeply what's going on with Honda of America. This vehicle needs to be taken to a Lab and diagnosed. We're going to take it again Monday the 21 to diag job in Spreen Honda of Loma Linda. Please help!

The Incident: On January 16, 2026, around 9:00 AM, while I was driving on the Edens Expressway from Glenview to Evanston, I heard a loud "explosion-type" sound. Safety Factor: The moonroof spontaneously combusted, but the sunshade was closed due to the 30-degree snowy weather, which fortunately prevented glass from falling on me. Dealer Inspection: Muller Honda inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the breakage was not caused by rocks, external influences, or negligence. Dispute: Despite the car being under warranty and evidence from the dealer, Honda has refused to take accountability. There have been similar reports from other owners and past class action lawsuits involving CR-V models from 2022 to 2025.

The driver side mirror vibrates, especially at highway speeds. It creates a distorted view. The dealership has replaced the glass. It did not remedy the issue. I took it in a second time and they replaced the entire mirror assembly. Still did not fix it. I took it in the third time and they said it is just a characteristic of this generation of CRV’s. It seems that Honda does not have a way to remedy the vibrating mirror problem. I find it very distracting while driving and it could potentially be a safety issue down the road with the distorted rear view.

NHTSA #11684008

I am filing a complaint about the horn on this Honda CRV model. Honda, for some reason, changed the horn system to a mono note horn that is so weak it is difficult for other motorists and pedestrians to hear. The Honda dealer told me that it is supposed to sound like that and it is not defective. This weak single note horn is used in 2023 and 2024 Honda CRVs. It is referred to by fellow CRV owners on forums as a "clown car" horn. It makes a very weak "toot" and in traffic, no one seems to hear it. I feel this is a safety concern and therefore, I am reporting it to NHTSA.

I love my 2024 Honda CRV which I purchased in May of 2025. But I need to report this for safety reasons. On September 9, 2025 I was driving south on Sare Road near Davis Road in Bloomington IN at about 30 mph when the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), activated and stopped the car in an instant. It was a rapid, unintended deceleration. The “Brake” message flashed on the dash. This occurred at approximately 7:30 pm, and there was no other traffic around me. No oncoming traffic, no other cars in front of me and thankfully no one following closely behind. There was no collision - however if another car had been behind me they likely would have rear-ended my vehicle. There were no people or animals in the vicinity to cause the CMBS to activate. And I did not inadvertently touch the brake prior to the incident. I was just driving along and suddenly thrown forward and restrained by my seatbelt. I could smell what seemed to be the brakes or tires. I was confused as to why the vehicle stopped. I turned the engine off and checked for traffic, then started the car and continued driving home without further incident. Within a day or two, I stopped in at my dealership ( Andy Mohr Honda) and reported the incident. Today (9/19/25) I was having a transmission fluid service and mentioned the CMBS issue to the technician and he chanced the Settings for CMBS from “far” to “near” and said that should solve the issue and to let them know if it occurs again. My concern is that if it happens again it could result in an accident and cause damage and injury. Especially if I am on the interstate driving at 60 mph.

While using Adaptive Cruise Control at 47mph on a local highway, Automatic Emergency Braking activated almost stopping the vehicle with vehicles fairly close behind it nearly causing an accident. There were no vehicles beside our car and no vehicles or objects on the road in front that could trigger the braking. This has also happened several times at lower speeds on less crowded roads. After the last occurrence, I took the vehicle to the Prescott Honda Dealership where they were unable to duplicate the problem. They documented the problem but told me that Honda would not replace the sensors under warranty unless the Honda Technician was able to duplicate the problem while driving it. If this happened on a busy Interstate Highway like I-40 or I-17 at 75mph with vehicles or a large truck close behind, it could cause a serious accident.

The vehicle has occasionally hard decelerated (braked) for no apparent reason. The term seems to be "phantom braking". This has been going on for a while for my wife and me when either of us is driving. My wife doesn't usually use cruise control and I use it most of the time.

While driving down the road at about 45 mph, my 2024 CRV automatically applied the brakes while there was not anything in front of me. I’m [XXX] and honestly it scared me. On [XXX] and [XXX], I was driving in the right lane in a construction zone on [XXX] in Detroit, MI when my 2024 CR-V slammed on the breaks while flashing the forward collision “break” warning on my dash. There were no cars at least 500 yards in front of me and, luckily, no one behind me. This happened by itself and no cruise control was engaged at the time. I have had this car since October 2023 and this is the first time this has happened. This was a sunny morning with temps in the low 30s. No rain and no snow. I have yet to be able to reproduce this issue and it’s unlikely that I could, since this happened under normal driving conditions. I have also not had the car inspected yet, but I will when I have the oil changed in a few weeks. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving on a country road and shortly following acceleration after a left turn, the cars forward collision warning went off, but in an unusual way. It will generally beep and flash the brake signal a few times if the forward collision warning activates. This time I heard one loud beep, saw a flash of the brake signal, and then the car slammed on the brakes to a complete stop. Luckily, there was no one and no other cars around me as I was on a small road without much traffic. The car is currently at the dealership being evaluated. I have sent a request to the general manager to investigate this situation further than just a basic code run or recreation of the malfunction. I do not feel comfortable driving this car without a clear diagnoses and repair.

On Sunday [XXX] and also other times before this, the vehicle will do a fantom breaking. It will slow down, brake, when no other vehicles are near by. On [XXX], the vehicle braked hard while I was in cruise control and traveling on [XXX] near Baldwin, WI. At this time the adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and brake system warning lights came on. the vehicle was okay to drive the remainder of the way home. I took the vehicle to the Honda dealer on Wednesday February 26th. They reported that they found Code P2583-49 millimeter wave radar fail. They said that they cleared snow debris off front bumper but there was no snow debris on bumper. It was 40 some degrees. I wanted to make you aware of this system problem because the unexpected braking is very hard and could cause an accident if a driver over responds. I was pulling into my son's driveway to park, and my vehicle did not stop when using the brakes. I struck the rear of his vehicle parked in the driveway. When put in reverse, my vehicle would not stop when using the brakes. My vehicle crossed the street, hit a tree, and eventually stopped when it hit a house. A video of the incident was caught on my son's ring door camera. I will submit screen shots of the video since the ability to submit a video is not an option.

* Manual and automatic break - both failed. Yes, it is available for inspection. * It was a collision between 2 cars. Our car break got jammed ,it hit other car. * We visited Envision Honda of Milpitas - Honda dealers. For Multi-Point inspection after incident. I have attached the report. The problem was not reproduced by them, but we faced the issue of break getting jammed and automatic break system not working. I am scared of driving my car in future. * Yes, the vehicle is inspected by Honda dealers and Geico insurance. They are not accepting intermitted break system failure. * There were no warning lamps or messages. Just break stopped working. We were driving in snow mode in Honda CRV. It was snowy road. We were going downhill. And the manual and automatic , both break system failed at the same time * The Honda Dealers didn't share EDR (event data recorder) data to us. They charged us 300$ and did Multi-point inspection and handed over the car back.

My Honda CRV has braked by itself when I am driving, even when theres nothing iin front of me. The break warning signal also pops up for no reason This has happened many times, and I have my kids in the car. The dealer told me they can’t find anything, but the problem keeps happening. I am scared this will cause a crash. Especially having my 2 year old and 3 month old i get scared to drive it --- If you want it even shorter or more personal, I can rewrite it again.

The vehicle is a 2024 Honda CR-V EX-L with approximately 13,000 miles, purchased at Gillman Honda in Houston, TX on May 29, 2024. The issue involves the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) activating without any obstacle present. The first incident occurred in February 2025 at around 11,000 miles while driving on a feeder road at ~25 mph. The vehicle suddenly braked to a complete stop even though the road was clear. There were cars behind me, and although they stopped in time, it created a serious risk of rear-end collision. Had I been traveling at a higher speed and the car braked completely, this could have caused the vehicle to flip or lose control. The second incident occurred on September 4, 2025 at ~13,000 miles while driving on a busy street at approximately 40 mph. The vehicle suddenly braked very hard for no reason, but did not fully stop — instead, it resumed immediately. It felt as if the car “took a screenshot,” braking sharply then continuing. This was especially dangerous since I was traveling at a higher speed, and vehicles behind me could have easily collided with mine. Both incidents put my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk. The vehicle was brought to Gillman Honda on September 16, 2025. The dealer acknowledged the safety concern and kept the car for inspection. On September 19, 2025, the service representative confirmed they had contacted Honda corporate and opened a case because of the seriousness of the issue. The car is still being held at the dealership pending corporate guidance. No warning lights, error messages, or prior alerts appeared before either incident. This appears consistent with a known problem that has been reported by many Honda owners in recent years involving unintended braking by the CMBS system. The defect makes the vehicle unsafe to operate, and at this point we no longer feel safe driving it.

I was driving on an empty two lane road going 35-40 mph. The car braked suddenly and the BRAKE warning light came on but no sound. On the way to the service department at the dealership it happened again, only this time I was going 20 mph and in traffic. There was a car in front of me at least 3 car lengths but was moving. I heard the brakes of the car behind me squeal as he avoided hitting me. No sound from my car, the brake light came on, I also put my foot on the brake thinking maybe the car sensed an encroachment I didn’t notice. But there was none, so I released the brake before coming to a complete stop. The service department inspected the system and could not reproduce or confirm any issues. There was no warning sound, the brake came on at the same time as the light. There was no warning, the light came on at the same time as the brake

2024 Honda CR-V VIN [XXX] Phantom Braking Car has experienced phantom braking numerous times since March 2024 when new. Initially occurred within one week of driving the new vehicle. Did not report it to dealer at first as we thought it was something that we were doing, or some sensitivity that the car typically exhibited. At random times car decelerates quickly as if pressing on brakes, or losing engine power (fuel supply, ignition, etc.), or downshifting quickly. After a few seconds car can be accelerated and resumes speed. In virtually every case it has occurred on dry, clear roads with no vehicles or obstructions ahead. Car, cameras and sensors were clean. Occurs when accelerating either slowly or rapidly. Occurs when entering a highway from an ON ramp. Occurs at 10 mph or 70 mph. Driver is not touching the paddle downshifter. Sometimes deceleration occurs multiple times within seconds after the previous - 2 to 3 times. Rapid slowing does not occur when in cruise control, or when manually increasing speed in cruise control. In all cases Red Brake warning light in instrument panel does not flash and there is nothing immediately in front of car. This condition is extremely dangerous, especially when there are vehicles behind, and they are not expecting my vehicle to slow rapidly. Occurs when accelerating to pass a car ahead. Or when trying to accelerate onto a highway to match speed of approaching traffic. We are always in fear of being hit from behind by unsuspecting drivers. We’ve come to expect the hesitation/braking to happen and drive even more defensively. A log of events is available. _______________________________ Dec. 21, 2024 Picked up car from servicing at Honda City, So. Portland, ME. Went back and discussed incident with Service Manager. They suggested keeping the car for an extended period to have technician drive it and try to reproduce problem. January 15, 2025Met with Berlin City Service Manager to discuss phantom braking again. Throttle body replacement at only 23294 miles. Replaced under warranty . Did some searching and Honda is aware of coolant seeping into throttle body. This is unacceptable Thank You for your time into this report

I have a 2024 CRV hybrid Sport L. I recently had a warranty claim, that was attributed to an issue with the throttle body. The engine reduced power and would not go over 25mph. And emissions fault was announced, which forced the turning off of all safety features of the car. I was able to drive to the dealership during non-traffic hours. I don’t know if this could mid-drive , but mine fortunately happened when I turned the car on. I got the dealership to replace the throttle body and take pictures of the problem before and after. It appears that the EGR dumps downstream of the throttle body causing the butterfly valve “pin” to corrode and that tripped an emissions fault in my car and reduced the power and limited the engine to 25mph. The car only has 15k miles on it. The replacement throttle body has no redesign. It’s identical per the dealership and Honda. And no one is able to tell me if it’s going to happen again. I used the same exact gas as every other car I drive, and I have driven in the same city environment for 10 years now. So it’s clearly a design or quality issue. Honda would not give me more information. So I was forced to take this route.

Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System4 complaints

Vehicle was purchased new on 5/17/2024. On January 16, 2026 the vehicle was brought into a Honda dealership because of 2 lingering issues. 1) It had low power while driving uphill on the freeway. When driving the vehicle from the Bay Area to Reno, the vehicle was unable to keep up with the flow of traffic travelling at the speed limit. Vehicles behind us were agitated. We did not know if this was normal or not and we wanted to have the car checked out. 2) The engine sounded different after the trip to Reno. Youtube videos, including some by Honda dealers had advised that the crv hybrid made noises which were considered normal. We wanted to know if the noise that we we're hearing was normal. The vehicle was in the shop for 26 days. The dealer confirmed the low power but had difficulty diagnosing the engine noise, except that it was not normal. The dealer brought in resources from Honda techline on multiple occasions to assist in diagnosis. During the course of the 26 days in the shop, the dealer ultimately found it necessary to rebuild the entire engine, including replacing the block, cylinder heads, lifters, fuel injector, etc.... We feel fortunate that we did not experience the more extreme loss of power and limp home mode that has been reported. We are very concerned about the future reliability of the vehicle. From the research that we have done, it appears that the primary cause of many of the engine failures experienced by this year/model are due to failure of the fuel injector system. What is really odd, is that the fuel injector system on our vehicle was inspected by the dealer on February 22, 2025, i.e., a year before we brought the vehicle in for the current issues.

On 12/6/24, while driving at highway speed, my engine made a LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND followed by immediate power loss—life-threatening. Vehicle couldn't exceed 65 mph despite full throttle, engine wouldn't idle, became inoperable. Had to merge right and limp to dealership in traffic. THIRD catastrophic failure in recent months at only 11,700 miles. First (10/19/24, 11,174 miles): Multi-system errors, inoperable, 21 days out. Complete cylinder head replacement (Cylinder 2). Second (12/2/24): Identical errors two weeks later. Cylinder 4 misfire, fuel injector replaced, 3 days out. Different cylinder proves systemic defect—50% of engine affected. Third (12/6/24): Highway breakdown. "Repaired" in hours with spark plugs only—inadequate for explosive failure. Service advisor admitted "whole part might have potential issue" but Honda policy prohibits preventive replacement "until really broken"—knowingly allowing defective vehicles until catastrophic failure. Dealership attempted release without highway test; conducted only after I demanded it. No explosive sound explanation. Refused diagnostics, compression testing, internal inspection. First two failures had dashboard warnings at low speed. Third had ZERO immediate warning—normal to explosive failure instantly at highway speed (warnings appeared 2 hours later). Unpredictable and extremely dangerous. Explosive sound indicates severe internal damage—not just spark plugs. Evidence: 11,700 miles too young. Specific cylinders (2, 4) suggest manufacturing defect. Dealership admitted defect. Immediate recurrence after major repairs. Vehicle at Parkway Honda (1575 VFW Pkwy, West Roxbury, MA), available for inspection. Honda case #16033311/12. MA AG/BBB complaints filed. 24+ days out. URGE NHTSA: Investigate if other 2024 CR-Vs affected, determine if recall needed, investigate Honda policy refusing repair until catastrophic failure.

NHTSA #11704369

My 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid began experiencing a noticeable loss of engine power and severe shaking while idling. The problem first appeared when I was parked with the engine running, and the car suddenly started vibrating strongly. Shortly after, the “Emissions System Problem” warning message appeared on the dashboard. A local Honda dealer suspected a malfunction in the fuel injector system, which may have led to improper fuel combustion, reduced acceleration, and overall unstable engine behavior. This issue could increase the risk of an accident, particularly when merging or accelerating in traffic, due to delayed throttle response. Many other CR-V Hybrid owners have reported similar symptoms online, pointing to a potential widespread defect in the fuel delivery system. Despite this, there is currently no official recall for the fuel injectors in this model. I am concerned that this issue, if left unresolved, could lead to engine damage or even pose a fire risk due to unregulated or incomplete fuel combustion. Given the number of reports and the potential danger, I respectfully urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue and consider initiating a recall to protect driver safety.

Long story short, I was driving my car and had noticed that when the engine would turn on from EV mode, it would idle rough and sometimes sound like it was struggling. I had it checked when the recall came in for my steering gearbox and they said nothing was wrong. Cue 600 miles later, every check engine light comes on and my car is loud as it gets. I call and take it to Honda and they tell me that since my car “cleared the code” itself, they can’t find it and I have to wait for it to maybe come back. As of yesterday, I went cause it started doing the same stuff as described above and they ran diagnostics on it. All 4 of my fuel injectors on the car have failed and need to be replaced. My car has less than 11k miles on it and all 4 of my injectors have gone bad? I received a recall notice back in November of 2024 regarding 2 issues with my new 2024Honda CRV Hybrid. It took almost 2 months for Honda to fix one of the recalls, but they said the parts were not in for the fuel pump. They told me to keep checking back with them. It is now approaching the end of February, and when I called Honda back again to check on getting my fuel pump recall fixed I was informed that there was NO remedy available to fix the problem. I drive my children to and from school every day and to their extra curricular activities. Online it states that the improper production of a high pressure fuel pump can create safety concerns. Electrical System,Service Brakes,Engine2 complaints

On April 25, 2026, while the vehicle was stopped at a red light on [XXX] , the vehicle suddenly became inoperable and displayed multiple warning messages and warning lights. The warning messages included “Brake System Problem” and “Auto Idle Stop System Problem.” Additional ABS/VSA, battery/electrical, and system warning lights were also displayed. The vehicle was occupied at the time, including children, and this created a serious safety concern on a major roadway because the vehicle could not be driven or safely moved under its own power. Police responded to the scene, Honda Roadside Assistance was contacted, and the vehicle was towed to an authorized Honda dealer. The suspected affected systems include the brake system, electrical system, battery/charging system, ABS/VSA system, Auto Idle Stop system, and related control modules. The vehicle is currently available for inspection at an authorized Honda dealer. The issue has not yet been fully diagnosed or confirmed by the dealer. The dealer advised that the battery may need to be replaced before diagnosis can continue. However, the battery may have discharged because the vehicle remained in a fault state with warning lights/system alerts active after the original brake/electrical failure. Therefore, the dead battery may be a consequence of the original failure, not necessarily the root cause. There were no known prior warning signs before this incident. The warning messages and lamps appeared at the time of the failure. A full diagnosis is pending. I am concerned that this brake/electrical/system failure could happen again while driving or stopped in traffic and create a safety risk. Vehicle Speed Control,Forward Collision Avoidance2 complaints

Driving using cruise control on interstate. Car in front of me exited. My car began to slow even though there was nothing in front of me but a slight incline. I pressed on the accelerator and the car continued to slow. I turned off the A/C and cruise, but the car continued to slow and came to a complete stop on the interstate. There was a semi-truck behind me. Cars were passing me. I put the car in park and turned off the car. I started the car back up and drove away. I was completely stopped on an interstate with construction barriers on each side of the lanes, so there was no shoulder to pull off on. I was fearful of getting in an accident or causing one. I was very scared for my safety. There were no warning lamps or messages to assist in the moment. I took my car into the dealership and explained what happened. Dealership checked the cruise control and said "test drove vehicle and cruise control operation is normal." They reset cruise control follow distance from closest to farthest and could not duplicate the concern. I am no longer using the cruise control because I feel it is a safety issue that was not addressed.

NHTSA #11735406

I had adaptive cruise turned on and set to 36 mph, a vehicle which was a good distance in front of of me turned left across the oncoming lane and into a parking lot. Even though the car that made the turn was already in the parking lot the car slammed on the brakes. I have the entire incident in video. Of course this problem also exists and is even more dangerous at high speeds. I have complained to Honda USA three times and NHTSA once a few months ago and no response. My daughter who has the same vehicle also experiences these issues. Someone is going to get seriously injured . Service Brakes2 complaints

I have a Honda 2024 CRV Hybrid. After 18 Months the rear and front brake rotors went bad. I hear a metal screach on the car wheels without using the brages. Dealer Honda states that rotors are under warranty for the first 12 Months and charging $1480 to resurface front rotors and replace rear. He is attributing this to an excessive wear and tear due to high corrosive weather in Florida. He also added that even after replacing the rotors, it's not garatee the new ones will last longer than 12 months. The car has only 11000 Miles and has always been in a closed Garage. This should lead to change Honda's warranty to cover what is clearly a defect.

While stopped at a red light I thought a car was rolling back into me. I took my brain a hot second to realize maybe I was rolling forward into him? But no, I told myself, my foot was on the brake and was pushing as hard as I could once I thought it was me (yep, should have hit the parking brake, but it all happened super-fast). I rolled into him, the light turned green and he pulled ahead, I got aside him rolled window down to ask if his vehicle was standard as I was still convinced he rolled back into me. Needless to say he said no and pretty much ripped me a new asshole for tapping him - I apologized and said "i thought you rolled into me". Brake hold is always on but I was not using the hold, my foot was on the pedal (pushing like a madwoman at one point).

My driver's side mirror spontaneously cracked. There was no damage done to the mirror that would cause this to happen. The mirror was intact when I pulled into my garage. An hour later I left again and the side mirror was cracked top to bottom. It is not difficult to get a non- distorted view out of my driver's side mirror and I feel it impacts the BSI as well. I have an appointment on 3/20 for inspection at the dealer. There were no issues prior to this happening. My photos show that there are no nicks, scratches or anything around the mirror at all. Also the mirror is not shattered, it's simply a clean crack down the middle.

Exterior Lighting2 complaints

The headlight system is critically deficient when operating the vehicle at night whenever the roads are wet, especially during active precipitation, and especially in poorly lit areas when there is oncoming traffic. The headlights cannot penetrate the water on the roadway and fail to reflect back lane markings most likely due to inferior strength and poor choice of color since White and Blue wavelengths scatter more with water on the roadway. In multiple instances I have had near miss accidents due to being unable to see clearly marked lane markers while I cannot utilize my high beams due to oncoming traffic. I can easily reproduce anytime there is active rain and am willing to let my car be inspected. I also can provide dashcam video upon request. The dealer has not confirmed the issue due to needing precipitation, poorly lit areas and the time of day being night which is after their working hours. The dealer also does not support the installation of fog lights on this model. There are no warning messages, lamps or otherwise. Others on forums such as Reddit acknowledge this is a major issue. I have never felt more unsafe operating any motor vehicle before in the conditions listed above than I am now with this low mileage 2024 CR-V.

Malfunction of the Honda CRV's Rear upper control arms. Yes it will be available to inspect until the 13th of October. Safety risk is the fact there is no more adjustment on the factory installed rear upper control arms. When on the rack and they align the vehicle, they only want a .5 degree when being done. The factory installed rear upper control arms makes the camber maxed out at 1.25 degrees to the negative. This causes severe wearing of the tires if they are not watched closely and rotated frequently. Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by a certified shop and the dealership. Yes there was wear on the tires that made me request a four point inspection at the dealership. They did not preform an alignment. Said it was the lack of quality tires installed at the factory that made them wear so badly. This issue is not covered by manufacturing/ extended warranty available. Honda's response "more aggressive tire rotation" to prevent the problem. That is unacceptable. Especially when it is being said right off the alignment rack: "we only want to see a .5 degree for the toe and camber. This Honda is maxed out and will not move away from that 1.25 degree mark." There is such a thing as adjustable upper control arms to prevent the premature wear of tires.

Driver assist systems disable themselves occasionally and seemingly at random. It seems that something is hyperactive or overly sensitive with the system. I have stopped to clean areas where camera is and it doesn't seem to make a difference or helps for a little while and then happens again. Unable to use cruise control for remainder of trip without calling dealership and them telling me to press and hold something to shut off driver assist in order to use cruise control. Another time my front collision warning flashed and disabled my cruise control while I was going down an interstate highway recently at 75 mph. Luckily no one was close behind me. I have no idea what it detected that would have set this off because there was nothing there. Not even a tumbleweed. The weather was somewhat windy and it had rained lightly earlier in the trip but was dry at the time this happened. Another time this past week, the lane departure flashed and did the shimmy with my steering wheel and I was not even outside of a lane. And then when I was on my own road going home and no one was coming I deliberately went outside the center lane and it did nothing. This is getting weird. I don't want to be a statistic. It's getting so I am spooked to drive it on a longer trip! I told the dealership during an oil change today but apparently there isn't much they can do? To me, this is unacceptable and Honda needs to better for it's customers.

Honda has made it extremely easy for thieves to steal the front radar sensor on all 2024 CR-V models. Mine was recently stolen, and there is currently no approved protection or deterrent offered by Honda to prevent this. Even after replacing it, the risk of it being stolen again remains very high. As a result, losing this sensor completely disables key Honda Sensing safety features, making the vehicle less safe to drive. On top of that, the replacement cost ranges from $1,500 to $3,000, despite the owner having no fault in the incident. The theft itself can be done in under two minutes. Overall, this design leaves the vehicle highly vulnerable, and it feels like Honda has not taken adequate steps to protect customers, while still leaving them responsible for costly repairs.

While driving under normal conditions on a dry road (no snow or ice), the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of braking performance while in motion. The vehicle was traveling approximately 10–15 mph and approaching an intersection with a red traffic light. A warning message appeared stating: “Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer.” Immediately after this message, braking performance was significantly reduced. Multiple attempts to slow the vehicle using the brake pedal resulted in minimal deceleration. The stopping distance was much longer than expected for the speed and conditions. The vehicle only came to a stop after the brake pedal was pressed with full force. Shortly after the initial brake warning, multiple additional safety-related systems went offline, including collision avoidance and other braking-related driver assistance systems. Approximately five to six warning messages appeared, indicating a cascading failure of safety systems while the vehicle was still in motion. The driver was able to slowly maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road and park safely. No collision occurred. However, shortly before this incident, the vehicle had been driven on a highway. If the same failure had occurred at higher speeds or in traffic, it could have resulted in a serious crash or injury. The vehicle is relatively new (approximately two years old, low mileage) and has been routinely maintained. There were no prior warning signs before this event. The vehicle is currently available for inspection at a dealership. A preliminary dealer explanation suggested a possible low or discharged battery; however, the cause of the braking failure has not been clearly established. This incident involved loss of braking performance while the vehicle was in motion, presenting a significant safety risk.

Since purchasing over a year ago Recurring failure of the rear-view backup camera system, resulting in a black and white image, coupled with dangerous malfunctions of the integrated Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (RCTM) system. Detailed Description of Safety Hazard The backup camera image repeatedly reverts from color to black and white, making it significantly harder to distinguish critical objects like pedestrians, curbs, and other vehicles, especially in low-light conditions. Crucially, this malfunction is directly affecting the vehicle's active safety systems: 1. Failure to Detect Cross Traffic: The Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (RCTM) often fails to warn of approaching vehicles, pedestrians, or objects when backing out of a parking space. This eliminates a vital safety feature and creates a high risk of a back-over collision. 2. False Cross Traffic Warnings & Unintended Braking: The system also frequently provides false warnings for non-existent cross traffic, which can cause the vehicle to momentarily lock the brakes up (Auto-Brake) without driver input. This sudden and unintended stopping during a maneuver is unpredictable, startling, and poses a risk of creating an accident, especially if a vehicle is maneuvering behind me. The system was previously serviced, including camera replacement, but the issue returned within a few weeks. This recurring failure presents a serious and ongoing safety defect that requires immediate repair of the core system components (likely the infotainment unit or wiring harness) to restore both the image and the reliability of the safety sensors.

Power Train,Engine1 complaint

My 2024 Honda CR-V EX is experiencing a premature head gasket failure at approximately one year of ownership. A head gasket is a long-life component designed to maintain proper combustion sealing and prevent coolant/oil cross-contamination. This type of failure should not occur on a new vehicle and suggests a potential manufacturing or engineering defect in the powertrain. Before diagnosis, the vehicle displayed symptoms consistent with gasket integrity loss, including rough running, shaking during acceleration, reduced power output, inconsistent engine temperature, and abnormal vibration. These issues indicate possible combustion leakage, coolant intrusion into the cylinders, or compromised cooling system performance. Given the low age and mileage of the vehicle, the failure does not align with normal wear. Possible causes include improper factory installation, uneven torque application, defective gasket materials, engine block or cylinder-head surface irregularities, or thermal management issues that could cause localized overheating or warpage. Any of these would point to a systemic defect rather than owner misuse. A failing head gasket can lead to engine overheating, stalling, power loss, oil/coolant contamination, and eventual engine failure. These conditions present clear safety risks if they occur while the vehicle is in motion. Because this is a major powertrain failure occurring far earlier than expected, I believe this issue may affect other 2024 CR-V models and warrants investigation. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can review whether a potential defect exists that could require further action to protect consumers.

Suspension1 complaint

My 2024 CR-V EX-L FWD has roughly 37,000 miles on it, and the tires have been rotated per Honda's built-in "Maintenance Minder". The inner shoulder of all four tires are worn to the extent that they need to be replaced. The rear suspension suffers from excessive negative camber; It is visually discernable upon approaching the vehicle from behind. I asked the service advisor at my local dealership in League City, TX, what they could do about it, since the rear camber is non-adjustable, and his response was that in situations like this, they recommend installation of aftermarket adjustable upper control arms. They, of course, do not install those parts, and, he even indicated that once those were installed, they would no longer perform any alignment of the vehicle. Additionally, that would void any warranty of any rear suspension components. I have since discovered Honda TSB 20-081 for 2017-2020 CRVs (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10181080-0001.pdf). I know, via comparison of part numbers on honda parts websites, that 2017-2026 CR-V's all share many of the same rear suspension components. Therefore, I think this is a situation where there is an overarching issue in the suspension design used on the 5th and 6th generation CR-V (and therefore, also their contemporaries - Civic, Accord, HR-V, Clarity, and Acura Integra, which also share components with this design). Additionally, the rear of my CR-V looks to be 'sagging', and knowing how suspension geometry functions, it leaves me thinking that perhaps the springs specified for the FWD CR-V (at least) may be too short or have too light of a spring rate, permitting this 'sag', which would then not only result in more negative camber but also increase the toe measurements as well, which would also negatively affect tire life.

It seems to incur after going in reverse and other times it just starts sounding louder in its spin and the rpm is not at normal intervals because it’s almost like a gear shifting mode like it’s stuck in low gear. Also when it becomes sluggish it feels like an engine part is spinning on air versus using gas and oil. Like if the engine is going to shut off mode as I try accelerating and then cars are passing me by. I purchased a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid (VIN [XXX] ) that was represented as having only an airbag replacement. A certified Honda dealer inspection has revealed multiple serious safety defects: •Driver seat belt buckle malfunction (DTC B0050-F0): The seat belt does not function properly and cannot be repaired without replacing the floor harness. This violates FMVSS 209 (seat belt safety standards). •Rear differential/ESC fault (DTC C1851-18): The differential shows signs of prior impact damage, metal shavings were found in the fluid, and the gearbox must be replaced. This affects AWD and electronic stability control (ESC), which is federally required under FMVSS 126. These issues were not disclosed by the selling dealer. The vehicle was sold “as-is,” but selling a car with a defective seat belt and ESC system creates a major safety hazard. Repairs are estimated at $8,692.92 on a vehicle with less than 2,000 miles. The 2023+ Honda CRV hybrid model have paddles on the steering wheel that increase and decrease the strength of regenerative braking. I use this feature often on our 2024 hybrid model. The issue arises when increasing the strength to the second or third (highest) level. The braking force at these levels should trigger the brake lights to illuminate, but they do not. Often I see drivers brake late behind me because my vehicle is braking with noticeable strength, but the driver behind me can’t tell. So they slow late and very close to my vehicle’s rear bumper. Honda should recall the hybrids and retrofit the brake lights to activate when regenerative braking is increased to the second or third level. Just as Tesla brake lights activate when their regen braking system works by releasing the accelerator, Honda’s should activate when turned up to the higher levels.

We got it fixed for the first time for 6.1k then they wires another fix for the back wheel because the entire wheel and more parts were damaged and they want to fix it for 1k more. and then today I got another quote for 1.3k for the strut. They have done multiple diagnostic tests and alignment tests but keep coming with more issues. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Honda case#: 15542096. Rear camera will go black and white intermittently. Rear camera replaced under warranty at under 6k miles 9/25/25, however, problem still persists randomly. Attached pics on 3/22/25 and 4/2/25 are examples of this issue I witnessed and obtained photo of. Dealership says they cannot duplicate and cannot proceed forward with repair or diagnosis on 3/18/25 RO#377440 with just under 15k miles. No rhyme or reason for random occurrences other than seems to happen when weather changes drastically (cold or rain). It's a safety issue because black and white is a deviance from normality and it is not discerning enough with the low quality resolution camera used to prevent backing up into someone or something. Color helps the eye discern shapes, people, and things better protecting objects from damage and life from harm. Honda and the dealership so far has refused to take action or solve even though the car is under warranty.

Driver's side outside mirror has a complete horizontal crack without any visible sign of impact. This crack creates a "hall of mirrors" effect that impairs and obstructs my ability to see cars approaching from behind.

Air Bags,Seat Belts1 complaint

I placed a bid on a vehicle at the co-part location in [XXX] . I reviewed the damage etc. and found it to be an acceptable risk. It was advertised that the car was in an accident with the passenger side and front grill damage. here was allegedly no damage to the motor and most importantly the airbags had not deployed. It was being sold with a salvaged title. Knowing these issues, I purchased the vehicle, had it towed to Miami and began the repairs. I purchased all genuine Honda parts from the dealer and still I could not have all of the lights reset. Upon taking it to another dealership, I learned that my rear seatbelts needed to be replaced, as well as all of the airbags as they had been cut out of the vehicle and the areas where they were located have been closed using drywall screws, some of which are still there. The described condition of the vehicle directly influenced my decision to purchase this vehicle. The lack of airbags could not be discovered from an inspection. I spent over 27,000 to purchase and repair this car as I believed that it was a newer car with much longevity. I was misled by the offer from Copart, and the actions of this company amount to deceptive business practices and possibly even fraud in the inducement. The description of the vehicle and its condition, specifically that the airbags were not deployed, led me to believe that the car was as described. Copart either knew or should have known based on the information provided from the lien holder/insurance that either the airbags had all deployed, and those would have been shown in the photos or that they were still in the car and somehow went "missing" while in the custody of copart. Copart knew this and yet they continued to advertise the airbags as intact. Copart knew that the condition of the car was worse than advertised and that the "as is" terms do not shield copart from the liability of this misrepresentation as this was apparently intentional or reckless. Vehicle Speed Control,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

On [XXX], my 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid experienced a sudden loss of acceleration while driving on the highway, creating a dangerous situation where I was unable to merge or maintain speed. This put me at immediate risk of an accident as other vehicles were traveling at normal highway speeds. This issue arose less than 136 miles after my vehicle underwent recall repairs on [XXX] at Superstition Springs Honda in Mesa, Arizona. The recall repairs included: •Fuel Pump Safety Recall (NHTSA Recall 24-049) •CVT Greasing Recall (NHTSA Recall 24-123) After the recall repair, my vehicle displayed a dashboard warning on [XXX] stating: “Emission System Problem. Power may be reduced. See your dealer.” Following this warning, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly despite pressing the gas pedal, making highway driving unsafe. I took my vehicle back to the dealership immediately. The dealership categorized this as an emissions system failure but has not confirmed if it is related to the recall repairs. The dealership also stated that I would need to drive 500 miles after any repair to “confirm” the issue is resolved, which is unreasonable and unsafe given the circumstances. This is a serious safety defect. A sudden loss of acceleration on the highway creates a high risk of collisions, injuries, or fatalities. Other 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid owners have reported similar emission system failures after recall repairs, suggesting this may be a widespread issue. This issue is now under review by Honda Corporate (Case #[XXX]), but I have not received a clear resolution or assurance that my vehicle will be permanently fixed. I request that NHTSA investigate whether Honda’s recall repairs are causing secondary defects leading to acceleration failures. This defect poses a significant safety risk and requires immediate attention. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Power Train,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

On 1/21/25 I had multiple warning lights appear while driving along the highway @ 60 mph. The error messaging included “transmission failure, loss of power, emissions control…”. I had not seen alerts prior to this incident, and was not aware of changes in performance other than a recent, minor, decrease in fuel efficiency. Fortunately, I was able to safely exit the freeway & park in a nearby shopping center. My vehicle was towed to the local dealer, Marin Honda. After a week of evaluation, and consulting with Honda America tech support, the dealer reports difficulty isolating the problem and determining appropriate repair. At this time a cracked piston has been identified, and the plan is for a technician to use a barescope to evaluate the cylinder for damage, and the potential need to replace the engine. I am concerned that multiple owners of this model & year have reported the same problem, including loss of power while traveling at high speed (see CRV Owners Club) Their vehicles were also determined to have cracked pistons, with and without cylinder damage. It has also been noted that when the fuel injector remains open it may be a contributing factor to a cracked piston. Could this be relevant to the current recall issued for the fuel pump on the 2024 CRV? Whatever the cause, the potential for catastrophic engine failure places drivers and their passengers, as well as other drivers, at great risk of a serious accident.

Power Train,Electrical System,Exterior Lighting1 complaint

I have a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid AWD Sport model. On two occasions within the past 3 months, I have attempted to start the car, but when I did so, the dashboard lights, including all the error indicators lit up and flashed, the alarm went off, and I couldn't drive the car. In both cases, I called Roadside Assistance. While waiting for the tow truck, we were able to shut off the car and alarm by putting the car into "accessory mode," (pushing the ignition button without a foot on the brake.) But when we then tried to start the car normally (pushing start button with foot on brake) the electrical light show resumed and alarm started up all over again. Both times this happened, by the time the tow truck arrived (1-2.5 hours) the car had "rebooted" so we just drove home. The first time this occurred, the Honda dealer had just performed the recall repair to the steering gear box 2 days before the first electrical failure.

Latches/Locks/Linkages1 complaint

The contact owns a 2024 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger’s side door failed to latch as intended. The contact stated that the front passenger’s door was independently unlatched and opened. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice while her young daughter was occupying the front passenger’s seat. In addition, while starting the vehicle, the door ajar warning light illuminated. After several attempts to close and latch the front passenger’s door, the warning light turned off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,300.

Lane Departure,Back Over Prevention,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

The Honda dealership replaced the steering gear box as required by the recent recall. After picking up my vehicle, I noticed that the Blindspot alert system was not working. The cross traffic monitor was not working. The side mirror was not beeping nor lighting up. The arrows and beeping did not occur when vehicles were driving behind me while in reverse. It appears that the sensors/radar had been disconnected or disabled although the dash settings show that they are on. After taking the vehicle back, the dealership lied and said that my 2024 Honda CRV EX had never been equipped with those sensors. They were working perfectly fine before I took the vehicle in. The dealership is denying fraudulent activity and jeopardizing the safety equipment of my vehicle and the safety of myself and others. I bought the EX model specifically because of those standard features. Honda should repair and replace any damaged or removed sensors as a result of the dealers errors and fraudulent activity.
