As a firefighter, I find it concerning that this recall has been issued for so long and no resolution has been found. The amount of vehicle fires that I see with reports of it "just starting to smoke, and then was on fire when I pulled over!" can easily be explained by fuel leaking into the hot engine compartment and combusting. This is my wife's primary vehicle, so I do not see it as fair that we have to send her on her way while there is no resolution to a potentially catastrophic issue. These vehicles need to be pulled off the roads before someone dies!
NHTSA #11703486

Informed by insurance company that there is a recall that could start a good fire. Still no remedy to fix. Have called a shop, takes months to get it seen, also says no remedy. Also has a problem starting after gas is put in car. Drops rpms and tries to stall randomly.
NHTSA #11700682
The sunroof shade rolled all the way back, detaching itself from the motors that move it. The guard plate between the sunroof and the moonroof fell off as it is held in place by double-sided tape tabs, landing on top of the shade which likely caused the issue. Ford will not repair it under my extended warranty even though the vista roof itself is covered they are classifying the sunshade as a trim piece. They are instead, offering to cover 1/2 of the $1800+ dollar repair. There was no warning prior to this happening and had someone been in the rear seat the large panel would have fallen on them potentially injuring them.
NHTSA #11670769
The shade on the moonroof dislodged making it difficult to see out of my rear window.

I purchased this vehicle brand new from Dunphy Ford in Philadelphia, PA, along with a premium extended warranty, with the expectation that Ford would stand behind both its product and coverage commitments. This past weekend, while traveling at highway speeds 75+mph, the sun/panoramic roof began emitting a loud rumbling noise. When I attempted to open it to address the issue, the sunroof liner bunched up in the rear of the vehicle, blocking my rearview visibility and creating an immediate safety hazard. I was forced to quickly close the sunroof while driving to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. Although the fabric returned to position, the interior cover failed to re-seat properly and remains dislodged creating a situation that causes me not to be able to use the sunroof safely due to visibility concerns. This is a safety defect. There are many documented cases of this issue out on the internet with Ford Escapes and other Ford models having this issue. The dealership wants $2,000 just to diagnose the issue. This situation—and the lack of meaningful support by Ford—has been extremely disappointing. Independent research suggests this issue is well-documented and recurring across Ford vehicles, and given that it compromises rear visibility, it constitutes a legitimate safety risk. I find it unacceptable that customers are expected to absorb substantial repair costs for a well known defect that directly affects driver safety. This should be a safety recall. This issue should not be dismissed or minimized, particularly given the safety implications. I was truly panicking while driving above 75MPH and I am an experienced driver. If this had been a newer driver, this could have been horrible. I could not see at all out of my back window. I would greatly appreciate the NHTSA look into this safety risk. Please see attached pictures for reference. Tons of customer complaints out on the internet. Thank you kindly for looking into this matter. Driving from Michigan to Missouri [XXX] and the wipers stopped working once we got to Missouri. Called Ford dealership in Springfield and they could not fit us in their schedule, so we took it to a Goodyear certified service center and they said it was the wiper motor. we fixed and eventually drove back to Michigan. About1 week later, the windshield wipers again, stopped working, I called the shop in Springfield and they told me to take it to a shop in Westland Michigan (Redford Auto/Goodyear Certified) because the part was under warranty. I did that, they replaced the part (motor). Now a year later and my wipers are not working again. They stop midstream and get stuck. They are inoperable again. Never in my lifetime of driving (I am [XXX] ) have I ever repaired a wiper motor, let alone 2 x and the problem is still not fixed. I do believe this is faulty by manufacturer and needs to be looked into. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2020 Ford Escape Sunroof Shade Repair In my case, the curtain sags, obscuring the rear view. This is a design flaw that Ford should correct. The sunroof shade fails to operate correctly. There has been an active recall on this vehicle for around a year for fuel injectors leaking on the top of the engine and potentially causing a fire. Since this is a turbocharged engine, that risk of fire is significant if fuel does leak.

My vehicle has been in the shop since December due to the turbocharger needing to be replaced. Through this site I found the fuel injector recall which I had to fight ford to evaluate. I have a recall for my vehicle that was sent out as an advanced notice back in July 2025. There is still no remedy available. This recall states my car could ignite in an engine fire if not repaired. This could cause serious danger or bodily harm to me and others while I'm driving.

The drivers seat belt buckle lactch has broke. The part of the buckle that latched the seatbelt has broken and fallen down into the buckle therefore the drivers seat belt can not be worn. This is a huge safety issue and is also illegal. The seat beat and buckle should be something in a vehicle that doesn’t just break like this. Makes me very concerned that they will not hold up in an accident.

So I bought this 2020 ford escape at 1100 miles. It was used as a dealership loaner vehicle until I bought it which put its 5 year at 11/19/2025, although I purchased it 12/2+/2020. Which h doesn't make sense. I'm slightly over the 60k/5 yr safety warranty because of it being a loaner vehicle first. I'm over the 60k by 19k, but under my 5 yr warranty. My driver seat belt is malfunctioning, so all my air bags are inactive. I find this very unfair and unsafe as I have 3 children ages [XXX] to [XXX] old. MFG RECALL #25S76 NHTSA RECALL #25V467 FORD IS NOT COMPLYING IN FIXING THIS RECALL ABOVE. IT HAS BEEN 5 MONTHS AND I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED ONE LETTER STATING THE RECALL ABOVE. NHTSA #11708667
My complaint is regarding the recall Manufacturer # 25S76 and NHTSA # 25V467 this has been going on for 6 months now and Ford keeps telling me there is no fix available. They won't buy back the car for a fair price because they said since it has an open recall they would have to auction it. It has bad missing after every time I put gas in the car. It is a FIRE hazard per the recall and is unsafe and yet I can't get it fixed or sell it as this is public knowledge available to anyone and no one with any sense would buy this car. Ford has had plenty of time to find a solution or fix it and since this is not happening I am stuck. I would like to be covered under the lemon law in Tennessee and I am only asking for what the car would be worth currently without the recall. I need a new vehicle as I travel for work and cover multiple states and it is not safe for me to drive this vehicle and I can't get rid of it.

Vehicle is going into limp mode and will also shut down while driving but the engine stays running and the cruise does not shut off. There is not remedy for the recall that I believe is causing these issues. This has been going on for 6 month. This vehicle has been nothing but a problem.

In my Ford 2020 Escape Hybrid Titanium AWD car, Sunroof shade got misaligned and not closing anymore, resulting in more heat flowing into the car creating impacts inside. Also, as per others comments and online forums, there is a chance that this shade would fall on the passengers during the drive if not taken care quickly, resulting in injuries in adults and deaths in infants. Reached to a Ford dealership to fix this issue and its costing me close to $3000. As its a design flaw from Ford, I request Ford to do a fix for free of charge or recall and fix it for their customers and address their safety concerns immediately. Appreciate your looking into this matter.

My Ford currently has 80K miles on it with no accidents and all recalls fixed by the dealer. This morning when I was driving my kids to school, a light I've never seen appeared on the bottom right hand side of the drivers screen. The light was a red triangle with an exclamation point inside of it. Not long after I noticed the light, we started to smell something burning and our car began loosing power. I pulled over immediately and turned the car off. I googled the meaning of the light. Apparently, it was a "Stop Safely Now" light. The various reasons online could not pinpoint any reason I could come up with. I popped the hood, checked the oil, coolant, and I checked that the hybrid battery located in the trunk had a good connection. Everything was fine, as far as I could tell. When I restarted the car, after about 15 mins of investigations and online research, the light was gone and so was the smell. However, now I am super nervous to drive this car on the highway. What if that light comes on again and I loose power when all the cars around me are driving 70 mph? The chances of getting rear ended and seriously hurt are a very real possibility. What if my kids are in the car? I'm scared.

My car has following issues recently. 1. Tire pressure monitoring system failed for all four tires. 2. Electrical door lock systems failed. All these symptoms match the BCM recall for the model and year of my car. But my VIN is not included with the recall. I believe Ford did not include all impacted car in this recall.

The last 2 weeks my wipers have nearly quit functioning. They don’t go all the way up, will stop in the middle of the windshield, will not go down and when I use the wiper stick to try and get them to go back down the back wiper will start going as well even when I’m not hitting the switch for the back wiper. For the last year, three out of four TPS sensors have quit working as well. The dealership checked them and said they’re reading as if they’re working but the alert is on my dash and they do not read the tire pressure.

System failures with lights and warnings include: hill start assist, All wheel drive fault, precollision assist, advanctrac. Rear differential and AWD module had to be replaced. Car has 57,000 miles on it and is a 2020. Safety is put at risk with a failing rear differential. There were minor vibrations that could've turned into wheel lock. All of the different drive modes were unavailable, and with heavy snow and ice in the area where I live, it made driving more difficult. The car was diagnosed and 2 dealers and one independent service center and the work was ultimately done at a dealer because the all wheel drive module has to be programmed.

Upon starting our vehicle, we received several warning lights relating to collision control and that the AWD system had failed. This happened on a Saturday so we had to wait until Monday to bring the car in to the dealer for service. The service department told us that the diagnostic testing indicated that the AWD module and the PTU actuator motor needed to be replaced. Our vehicle is under six years and under 29,000 miles, along with being garage kept and having regular maintenance.

UnknownOn my dash my AWD fault warning has showed up followed by hill assist not available and traction control not available. I have looked for in formation online about it and it seems that it’s a recurring issue with 2020 Ford Escape and many others. I’ve seen that there was a customer satisfaction effective on April 9,2021 through April 30, 2022 but I have just gotten this car last year and dealer states that I am responsible for fixing a manufacturing issue. I’m not sure where my car was manufactured but my car is affected. I have about 83,600 miles and don’t seem to understand why I have to pay since in the customer satisfaction program it states that the module needs to be replaced before sale and customers that have already purchased the vehicle should have it replaced no charge to them. I’ve only just gotten this car last year February 2024 and not sure if the owner before got the notice or not but I have not received a notice stating anything about the AWD system malfunctioning. It is definitely a safety risk if I was to be driving in a snow or ice storm and my traction control stopped working; without the AWD the car is harder to accelerate and control sometimes. I haven't gotten if fixed since they want me to pay for something that they failed to make sure was working correctly. I can't afford to fix it since money is already tight but it is my only way of transportation. I have some photos of the lights/warnings and I have a document of the customer satisfaction Program from 2021.

When the interior of the car gets hot, the gear select dial will not rotate out of park. This has occurred on 5 separate occasions. Eventually the interior of the car cools down enough to shift, but that can take anywhere from minutes to hours, leaving the vehicle and its passengers stranded until the selector shifts. This same problem has been reported by several others on the Ford Escape forum.
