I had the recall for the Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-up completed on 2025-05-04. While I was driving March 2026 my Tahoe went into limp mode and I had to have it towed because it wouldn’t reverse it was towed a day after this happened to Lynch Chevrolet. It has sat there ever since with no fix in site. I had to get a rental vehicle that GM is paying for but they have stipulations to what they pay for and the vehicle they gave is not comparable or better than MY car. Not only is this an inconvenience but they are doing the bare minimum to help with their mistakes.

NHTSA #11730486

Driving down I495 in Mass when engine stopped with no warning or prior symptoms. My wife and 4 children (including 2 friends of our kids) were in the car. Luckily we were able to safely pull to the shoulder after coasting through a construction zone. If we hadn’t made it to a safe piece of shoulder chances are high that another vehicle would have hit our vehicle and hurt and killed us. These 6.2 engines are a serious safety hazard and I only hope my new engine proves to be reliable. Car was towed to dealer who diagnosed it as a seized motor. Car is a 2022 Chevy Tahoe with the problematic 6.2 engine. Engine had passed Chevrolet’s Pico test as per the 6.2 recall about 7,000 miles before it seized. Vehicle and engine dealer maintained with all required changes/maintenance. Engine seized/failed with no warning.

NHTSA #11724933

I took the vehicle in for the engine recall. They put in the higher viscosity oil. Shortly thereafter the engine failed. They are trying to claim it's not related to the recall issue.

My car is in the shop indefinitely. I’m requesting a rental car of equal value to what my Tahoe was. Please make contact with the appropriate Hertz company as we will have bad weather in 2 days.

NHTSA #11658492

Driving my Tahoe (67,000 miles) down the highway and everything is perfectly fine, suddenly all of the check engine lights began to flash. I wasn’t sure if it was an electrical glitch or not until the engine started knocking loudly. I was on a bridge in traffic and had no where to safely pull over. I had to drive a few miles further just to get to safety at which point the knocking became extremely loud and the entire car began shaking. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership where they informed me the lifters had gone out as well as the cam shaft. Apparently this is a very common occurrence among owners of this vehicle/similar vehicle. I am so grateful this is the one time my two small babies were not with me. It was a very scary situation and I was hours from home. This came completely out of no where without warning. Of course this happened 7,000 miles out of warranty. So now after paying over $70,000 for a vehicle that is barely 3 years old and only driven in town for the majority of that, I was stranded and now going to be out $10,000 to repair.

NHTSA #11658051

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at highway speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000. The VIN was not available.

NHTSA #11657800

DURAMAX ENGINE - Coolant Control Valve malfunctioned on the Diesel Engine. Can Not Drive my 2022 Tahoe. In the Dealership for 2 Months now and waiting.

NHTSA #11662906

Vehicle suddenly lost power at 70mph in heavy traffic. This was after a very brief flash of the electrical system off and then back on. Vehicle was safely pulled to the side of the road (luckily). The electrical system kept demanding to “push start” and then would shut off and then immediately come back on, but without the engine starting. The vehicle would not completely turn off, or turn back on from that point forward, killing the battery in the process. We called Onstar, who had it towed to Bill Estes Chevrolet in Carmel Indiana. Mark in the service department then informed us that the engine was completely seized up and would require an engine replacement.

NHTSA #11651684

While driving on the highway the engine started to makes noise and shut down in seconds without warning- we glided down an off-ramp narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic and was towed away on the ramp - the engine only has 68,000 miles and it well maintained. It’s my understanding that the NHTSA is investigating problems with the 6.2 L engines on 2022 Tahoes that have sudden lost of power please add my name to the investigation- GM has refused to help I’m hoping that a recall which is warranted will help with the $11,869 cost to replace the engine.

NHTSA #11652775

Driving the Tahoe to work. All sudden motor started cutting out and died. Vehicle was towed to Chevy dealer. Was notified by them engine was locked up and needed to be replaced. 6.2 Motor

NHTSA #11653209

While driving from Boise, Idaho to Jackson, Wyoming our 2022 Tahoe 6.2L with 70K miles shut down at 85MPH on Highway 84 outside of Pocatello. Luckily, my wife was able to coast off the exit. We had the Tahoe towed to the Dealer and advised it would be 4 months for a new engine as our order was number 4,000 in line for an engine. Luckily, all of a sudden engines arrived from the supplier and was replaced in 3-4 weeks. Tariffs must have sped up the process. Downside, I paid 50% as we were out of warranty and GM would not cover the entire cost. Now I see the recall and would expect to be re-imbursed. We will see.

NHTSA #11657529

I’ve done some research on the Chevy Tahoe 6.2L engine failures my Tahoe experienced the same thing our Tahoe just shut off in the middle of rush hour. 2 days ago we’ve started hearing slight knocking on higher RPMs and sometimes just idling and also would have a rough idle but it would go away with no check engine lights or warnings on the dash till today we haven’t taken it to the dealership to look at do to it having 61k miles just past its warranty and us not having the finances to get the truck fixed.

NHTSA #11647181

NHTSA #11647940

ENGINE QUIT RUNNING UNEXPECTEDLY, WITHOUT WARNING, AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY ABOUT 30 MINUTES FROM OUR HOME. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT FACED DIFFICULTY IN GETTING THE VEHICLE ON THE TOW TRUCK. NO POWER SO ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS. PLUS THE REAR WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. WE DID GET FINALLY GET THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A NEARBY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED US THAT THE ENGINE HAD SIEZED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW ENGINE. SUSPECTED MAIN BEARING FAILURE. I HAVE READ THAT YOU ARE INVESTIGATING PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE, GM L87 6.2L V8. SINCE OUR VEHICLE HAS 75000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY WE ARE FACING REPAIR CHARGES OF UP TO $15000 TO $20000. WE COULD USE A LITTLE JUSTICE. THANK YOU.

NHTSA #11646084

NHTSA #11645628

On 2/27/25, I was driving down the highway and the dash stated "push start for engine" and began to lose all power. The engine seized with no other warning. I was able to safely pull over to the side of road and was then towed to the shop. This vehicle has been serviced on a regular basis. It was found that the engine had blown and am still waiting for a replacement.

NHTSA #11655224

At 30,534 miles, and still under warranty (5.3L V8) I had a complete engine failure without warning. Catastrophic and immediate engine failure. Latest word was a cam and lifter problem on a vehicle still under warranty. Repair time stated at 1-3 months. Engine failure occurred on a business trip en route to Dallas, TX in rural Oklahoma. Paid $275 for towining, $115 for a hotel and $360 for a rental car. Zero compensation.

NHTSA #11655968

At 22,000 miles on the Interstate highway, vehicle suddenly lost all power, no throttle, went into neutral and we were lucky to be able pull it off to the shoulder without an accident. It had stalled and after multiple tries we were able to restart it. Then the check engine light came on and we drove it directly to dealer. There was a code for camshaft sensor and we were told all lifters needed to be replaced. Upon doing so, they found metal pieces in the engine and said entire engine needed to be replaced. The engine was on back order for up to several months. We waited a month then decided to trade due to loss of vehicle use. Dealer was very helpful during repair but no assistance from GM for a known issue on the 6.2L that could have had a negative outcome on the highway. This was not only a safety issue but a very expensive situation to trade out of for an almost new car.

NHTSA #11656931

Engine stopped working while on the freeway going 60 mph. Unable to start vehicle once it died.

NHTSA #11646642

Driving on interstate (I55 - traveling South bound, Bridge over water) traveling at 70 MPH engine started to make loud noise and car was shuttering. We were able to take the immediate next exit. After taking the exit, within minute or two, the car/engine shut off with no way of restarting or steering. The engine did start to smoke when the hood was popped to inspect. Tow truck was called to transport us to the local Chevy dealer in Hammond LA - Ross Downing Chevrolet. Since it was a Saturday, we had to wait for the dealership to reopen on Monday. On Monday, I was called and told that there was indeed complete engine failure, and later in the day it was determined that it was due to a rod bearing issue. GM was contacted since I was 3,000 miles outside of my warranty, and the agreed to cover roughly $17,000 of the repair to completely replace the engine. I was out of pocket $3,227.56. All oil changes and maintenance were on time and kept up with. Just had an oil change roughly a week earlier before the engine failure. There were no lights that came on the dashboard even after the vehicle completely failed.

NHTSA #11641074

While driving under normal conditions, the 6.2L engine in our 2022 Chevy Tahoe seized and stopped running. We were lucky that it was early in the morning and without a lot of traffic and were able to coast the vehicle safely off of the road. Upon inspection from the dealership, they indicated that the engine experienced catastrophic failure. The dealership replaced the engine, Battery, Starter, Fuse box, and steering gear. We were lucky as the failure occurred just prior to us getting onto the interstate. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lights or issues with the vehicle. It was a sudden and catastrophic failure.

NHTSA #11636523

Exhaust system failure. Was told by manufacturer vehicle dealer service center that cause of the failure was not from normal use or misuse but due to manufacturing and weak metal/poor materials. No warning lights or messages ever appeared on vehicle information system. First report of exhaust smell in vehicle cabin on 4/9/24 at 38,874 miles. Vehicle dealer service center tested for leaks and found no leak. Second report of exhaust smell in vehicle cabin on 8/6/24 at 48,106 miles. Vehicle dealer service center tested for leaks and found no leak. Third report on exhaust smell in cabin on 10/31/24 to service manager who confirmed he could smell the exhaust in vehicle cabin. Car went to shop on 11/5/24 at 55,077 miles. Two exhaust leaks detected. From dealer: "Smoke tested exhaust system and checked for leaks, found a hole in the exhuast pipe right before the muffler and is likely the source of the smell." Additionally from dealer, after first repair: "After exhaust repair the vehicle was started and heard and audible exhaust leak on the drivers side. After further inspection found the drivers side exhaust manifold is leaking as well." I have been driving this vehicle for at least seven months with exhaust leaks and with exhaust coming into the cabin of my vehicle exposing myself and passengers to carbon monoxide. Reported twice to dealer and they reported no issues.

NHTSA #11624536

[XXX]. We dropped our vehicle off at Chevrolet on old Seward after our engine seized while on the highway. We had to exit the highway with our five children inside. We had it towed to Chevrolet for them to fix in which the car was finally ready for pick up [XXX]. Not to mention when GM sent the tow truck, it couldn’t even tow our vehicle. They had to order another tow truck because the manual override for the parking break wouldn’t release so I had to sit in the feeezing cold WITH MY KIDS for over an hour. #3 MAIN CAP SEIZED CAUSING ENGINE TO NOT TURN OVER AND ROD SEIZED AS WELL. The issue required a complete engine replacement. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA #11645307

Check engine light came on due to a P1098 and I received a reduced acceleration advisory. This greatly diminished the performance of the vehicle and made it a hazard to continue on the highway

NHTSA #11570766

Our family of 5 (including 2 children and an infant) was driving 70 mph westbound on Interstate 40 east of Knoxville, TN when our 2022 Tahoe RST engine seized. For a few seconds, we had no steering, braking or acceleration and the dashboard began flashing. After a few seconds, the car shifted itself into the neural gear and we were able to brake on the shoulder of a busy highway. We were unable to restart the car. We called the police as well as AAA. The police came and sat behind us to deter oncoming cars to changes lanes. AAA came and towed our car to Reeder Chevrolet dealership in Knoxville, TN. There, it was determined that our engine had seized and needs to be replaced under warranty However, there is a backorder on the engine, and we are now driving a rental car. There are several other Tahoes in their service department with similar circumstances in need of a 6.2L ecotech V8 engine. There was no warning at all that the car had problems. Up until this point, there were no issues. I believe there is a widespread problem with these particular engines and this should be addressed on a national level. Our lives were at risk.

NHTSA #11551432

Driving on highway and car started making a loud noise and it completely stopped, had to tow to the dealer.

NHTSA #11520737

Will coming to a stop the vehicle would just stall. Didn’t notice the dash saying to restart and as let off of break the truck started to roll backwards almost hit car behind me. Did this about 7 more times. Made appointment with dealership and they told me there was no problem found.

Power Train16 quejas

My vehicle has suffered a Transmission Control Valve Failure (stuck open). This is the exact mechanical failure detailed in GM’s Nationwide Recall N24245441-02. It is deeply disheartening and illogical that my vehicle—which shares the exact year, make, model, and identical mechanical failure detailed in the safety bulletin—is excluded from the recall purely due to an arbitrary VIN filtering process

NHTSA #11737772

I had the car in for a message (service transmission now will not be able to shift soon). They told me there was nothing wrong with my transmission it was a parking brake sensor issue. They ordered me a new sensor and never called to tell me it was in. I followed up and they said they had the part and I could come in whenever. They said it was not a safety issue and would be a quick fix. I had an appt today and to my surprise when I went to drive to the appt my car will not let me shift out of park with a new message (service transmission, unable to shift). I am now waiting for the car to be towed. This car has had nothing but issues including the back-up camera not working properly for 2 years. These are all serious safety concerns that Chevy/GM has not properly handled.

NHTSA #11728846

Driving at 75mph upgrade westbound out of Denver, Co. Engine failed, shut down at speed, had to emergency move to right shoulder through 3 lanes of traffic. The last 10 mph it locked wheels to a screeching halt. Towed to Foundation Chevrolet. Confirmed engine failed, needs replacement. Every service done on regular basis by same dealer. Had "recall" band aid performed a couple months ago, where they changed oil vicosity and did inspection.

2022 Tahoe RST with 5.3 10 Speed. Bought new in Sept of 2021. The 2022 we have had problems with shuttering in the drivetrain from very low miles. We have brought it into the dealership atleast 3-4 times before for this issue. This was all while it was still under its 60k drivetrain warranty. Dealership always told us that since there was no check engine light or codes that they can’t fix what is not broke or broke yet. We needed to wait for it to break or light then bring it in. We also received a letter in the mail for the trans recall (program)last year which was preformed. That day after, my wife started to notice it shuttering more than usual and more often. I call the dealership that performed the recall which they said to bring it in. After looking it over. I get a call saying that I should get the transfer case fluid, front and rear diff fluid changed. It might be the transfer case slipping. Advisor told me that since it was about due for this service. Fast forward to May 9th of this year. My wife was at church. She parked it which it ran fine. Came out about 30-40 mins later put it into drive and wheels where locked up. She called me panicking that something was wrong. Go to her aid which I had to have it towed to the same dealership that serviced it before. Even check it in with the same advisor that helped us before after the recall issue. I should now mention our 22 Tahoe has 68,700 miles. Dealership called us a few days later saying it was the valve body. Especially since we had have problems before with the drivetrain and documented. The vehicle is still inoperable. We are waiting for a valve body with no ETA.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed a loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle and the vehicle jerked abnormally. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to operate as intended and the vehicle failed to shift into reverse. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was scheduled to be towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Faulty valve body Safety was put at risk, I was traveling on a 4 lane road at 45 mph when my vehicle experienced a significant jump in RPM with immediate loss of propulsion. I immediately drove to the dealership as the incident was frightening. The vehicle was also not able to go into reverse. This valve body failure issue has been confirmed by the GM Chevy Dealership, and GM corporate executive services. My vehicle has been undriveable and at the dealership since 3/4/25. This is a known issue with GM, parts are not available and are back ordered with no ETA on when they will be available. Even with a replaced valve body it is likely the vehicle will have future transmission issues &/ additional valve body failure. Please strongly consider a recall related to this known issue and safety concern.

2022 Chevy Tahoe with 32,292 miles of in-town and highway driving, never any towing. Perfectly maintained on time. Suddenly started to not respond to acceleration, and jolting, then would not reverse. Transmission valve body has already gone out. GM acknowledged the problem. States there is a national shortage of this part. There is nothing they know of being done about. Park the vehicle and wait for a part to become available. No ETA, but 2,200 of this part have already been requested recently.

I am writing to formally report a critical safety defect regarding the OnStar Telematics Control Module in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country VIN: [XXX] . My vehicle was recently diagnosed by SERRA CHEVROLET as having a failed module, which has rendered numerous essential features inoperative. This is not an isolated incident; there is clear evidence of a widespread failure affecting thousands of GM and Chevrolet owners. The failure of this module creates significant safety risks, including: * Loss of Emergency Services: The OnStar SOS button and automatic crash response are disabled, leaving me without a lifeline in the event of an accident. * Systemic Vehicle Malfunctions: This module is deeply integrated into the vehicle’s architecture. Its failure has caused [list your specific issues, e.g., "Check Engine" lights, heads-up display failure, and battery drainage]. * Disabled Connectivity: Core features I paid a premium for, such as navigation, remote start, and Wi-Fi, are now "bricked". It is unacceptable that a flagship $80,000+ vehicle is operating in a degraded and potentially dangerous state due to a known hardware defect. I am requesting that GM take immediate responsibility for this repair at no cost to me, regardless of warranty status, as this is a fundamental safety issue. Please provide a timeline on how GM intends to rectify this widespread defect. I look forward to your prompt response. I'm submitting this complaint regarding an ongoing electrical defect on my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle has experienced repeated sudden battery drain & no-start events, occurring approximately once per week. These failures happen without warning, sometimes after the vehicle is parked for as little as 6 hrs. All dealer updates & software campaigns were completed. Despite this, the vehicle continued to suffer no-start events. After further troubleshooting, we removed fuse F35RA (which powers only the hands-free liftgate module). Once this fuse was removed, the issue immediately stopped — confirming that the parasitic draw originates from the liftgate module, consistent with GM Technical Service Bulletin 24-NA-039. This indicates a known electrical defect. This problem has caused multiple safety concerns: The vehicle has left my family stranded late at night. My husband works in Chicago & relies on this vehicle. A sudden no-start or complete electrical failure in that environment is dangerous. We were unable to transport our children to scheduled activities due to the vehicle being completely dead. Repeated deep discharges are damaging the battery we purchased only months ago. A family vehicle shouldn't unpredictably become inoperative. This is not normal wear — it's a safety-critical electrical defect that could strand owners in unsafe conditions, especially in winter climates. GM hasn't issued a recall for this issue despite issuing a TSB documenting the defective behavior. The frequency & severity of electrical failure suggest this should be investigated as a potential recall. I'm requesting NHTSA review this matter due to the safety implications & the repeated nature of the failures. Incidents: No-start after 6 hours parked at a friend’s home Multiple weekly no-start events before fuse removal Occurred before & after software updates were performed Location: Incidents occurred both at home & away from home. Thank you for reviewing this complaint.

I along with many owners have experienced the widespread OnStar/telematics module failures in the current generation Tahoe and GM vehicles, which cause onboard system outages like navigation, safety alerts, city emergency services, cellular connectivity, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and even instrument cluster functions sometimes going offline. The part is often back-ordered with no ETA, while GM denied warranty coverage causing the owner to pay for the replacement part and all labor.

The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and evacuate the vehicle. Within moments, the front end of the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The air bags did deploy. Local emergency services were able to extinguish the flames but did not investigate the cause of the fire. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A fire report was filed. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for a second-degree burn to his left pinky finger. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The check engine light illuminated cause us to park the vehicle until diagnosed. The diagnosis is the Onstar system has failed causing the check engine light to illuminate. Even without paying the fee for onstar the light still illuminates rendering the vehicle “disabled” under Indiana clean air requirements. They will not run the required emissions test to certify or plate your car with a check engine light on. The dealer stated the vehicle can still be driven however we will no longer know if there are ancillary issues because the check engine light goes on and off. Ironically this happened two months after a software recall performed by the dealer. If the vehicle is safe to drive with an onstar failure there should be no reason the check engine light illuminates taking attention away from more serious potential issues.

March 19, 2023 vehicle battery died with roadside assistance called to jump off vehicle. Returned vehicle to Chevrolet Dealership on March 20, 2023 and was told the radio was not turning off as designed and there was an open sensor in the windshield - both items repaired and vehicle returned to me on March 21, 2023. April 2, 2023 vehicle battery died with roadside assistance called to jump off vehicle. Returned vehicle on April 3, 2023 to Chevrolet Dealership. Vehicle has been at Chevrolet Dealership for 3 weeks. As of today, April 24, 2023 Dealership / GM state that they cannot find anything wrong, but want to pull the fuse out for the liftgate module and return the vehicle. I asked why not replace the liftgate module and am being told that they do not know that the lift gate module is the issue, so they will not replace module. At this time I see no evidence that the root cause of battery failure has been identified and GM / Dealership is wanting to return the vehicle to service on the hope that pulling a fuse for the handsfree liftgate module will resolve the issue leaving my family at risk of another battery failure.

The backup camera system on my 2022 Tahoe has repeatedly malfunctioned, causing a safety issue when backing up. This component/system has failed to provide a clear view of the area behind the vehicle, which is crucial for safe backing up. I can make the component or system available for inspection upon request. The malfunctioning backup camera system has put both my safety and the safety of others at risk. Without a clear view of the area behind the vehicle, I cannot see if there are any obstacles or people in the way, which can lead to accidents or collisions. Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer multiple times for this issue, but the problem persists. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer, but I am not aware of any inspections by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The backup camera system would work fine for some time, but then it would malfunction without any warning. During a normal acceleration from an on-Ramp onto a major interstate a Check Engine Light (CEL) came on with warnings of safety features no longer being active. The vehicle begin vibrating abnormally and the pedal was not very responsive. I took the next exit and stopped at an auto parts store to have the engine code checked. Cylinder #2 misfired due to an injector issue. The vehicle was confirmed to have this issue at a Chevrolet dealership. The car was a CPO through FORD and was covered. I owned the vehicle for 14 days. This unit has the L87 Motor, and had already undergone a motor replacement under the recall warranty. The injectors apparently were not replaced, only the O-Ring. Unlike many manufacturers GM has removed Fuel Injectors from their PowerTrain warranty. A motor with under 5,000 miles was not covered since the body and bolt-ons were original with 45,000 miles. GM has a very recent history of injector recalls and issues. These injectors should undergo the same scrutiny as previous GM injectors.

On 6/26/2025, I was on an elevated one lane exit ramp of a major freeway. My 2022 Tahoe suddenly lost complete power with no warning at all. The car behind me slammed on his brakes and narrowly missed me as I could do nothing except get as close to the concrete barrier as possible. Thankfully the Tahoe went into Neutral so I managed to roll down the ramp. I prayed that I could get across 3 lanes of the frontage road without getting hit so I could safely make it into a parking lot. I had to call a wrecker even though I was literally two driveways down from a Chevrolet dealership. I could not make it that far with no power and using only the momentum from the exit ramp to get me to safety. I have 32,635 miles on the Tahoe. It was a faulty fuel pump power control module.

Engine stalled while driving and vehicle would not restart. Pulled over and was stranded on side of the road. Had vehicle towed to dealer. Was diagnosed as failed fuel pump control module.

NHTSA #11627886

Driving vehicle from work to home when the vehicle started to stutter and immediately shut down with no power or any capability to turn the vehicle off of the road. This shutdown immediately caused blockage of a major road; since the vehicle could not be moved due to no power to steering wheel nor ability to place the vehicle into neutral. Determination was that the fuel module went bad. No warning of failure of component was indicated by check engine light until after the incident happened. Luckily this shut down of all components of the vehicle did not occur on a high speed road since I did not have any control of the vehicle after the fuel module failed.

NHTSA #11573076

Vehicle was driven into parking lot and was idling. Without warning, it began misfiring and stalled. Vehicle would not restart and was towed to the nearest dealer. The diagnosis was a fuel pump driver module that had internally shorted. Thankfully, it failed in the parking lot. We had recently arrived at this location for the winter having driven the vehicle approximately 1500 miles over 4 days. We were lucky the failure did not occur on the highway as the unexpected stalling would potentially be a significant safety concern. Please note that this vehicle is a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The 2021 Tahoe was under a recall for this same issue (see recall N212332040). The dealer said that this is a common problem with these vehicles. Perhaps the recall needs to be expanded.

The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed. The dealer replaced the SN-L Pipe and installed an SN-L injector kit. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to another unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cylinder #7 injector and R/R Fuel Rail needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic oil shop, where the contact was informed that metal shavings were found in the oil filter and the oil level was significantly low. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred while driving, and the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact that the recall part was not yet available and an appointment could not be scheduled. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The vehicle shifted itself into neutral and shut off while driving. It happened twice in three days. The first time I was pulling into the driveway so I was able to put it in park and restart the car safely. The second time I was in the middle of traffic in Tampa and it shifted into neutral and shut off in the middle of the road. Luckily no cars hit me but again I had to apply the break , restart the car and put it back in drive. This was very scary and I had my kids with me. Earlier in the day I had been driving on 75 and if it had happened then it could have been a bad wreck. It shows there are no current recalls on my vehicle. No warning lights or messages appeared. Vehicle was purchased less than 30 days ago. I will contact the dealership to verify there are no open recalls just in case but again when I checked I found none.

On May 9th, 2025 we had to have our 2022 Tahoe towed to the local dealership. There was a transmission error message and the battery was completely drained. The dealer put a new battery in it for $485 and we were told it was good to go. The next day, the car would not go into Reverse. Had to have it towed back to the dealership and was told that the Transmission failure was a recalled part and would be covered. Later we were called and told even though the part that had failed is in fact the same part in the open recall, that our VIN was not on the recall list and the cost to fix the vehicle would not be covered. In addition to all the headaches and money out of pocket (rental cars, tows, new battery) we now have to wait at least 4 - 6 weeks to receive the recalled part but since our VIN is not on the 2022 Tahoe recall list (even though it is the same part as the recall that failed), we are having to pay out of pocket for the repairs. Chevy needs to stand behind this recall and cover the cost.

Purchased brand new. Had for awhile and the veh shook. Took it in and the replaced with all brand new lifters. Still not correct than replaced with all new fuel injectors. Now when I take it in for the last several months it’s 1.5 to 2 quarts low on oil. Told that GM standard says 1.5 quarts low between oil changes is normal!!! I’m currently on an oil consumption test at each 1,000 miles snd I’m at 2 qrts with 1,500 til my next oil change. While driving down the highway, the vehicle suddenly experienced multiple issues. The headlights went out, the vehicle would not continue to accelerate, and all interior lights shut off. The vehicle then shifted into neutral and stalled. There were no warning signs or indicators before this happened. Our safety was at risk as we barely managed to pull the vehicle over to the shoulder, with no working emergency lights. The highway had no street lights, and we were constantly worried about being hit by other cars since our vehicle was nearly invisible without the emergency lights. The malfunction left us stranded more than two hours from home. We had to have the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealership for inspection, which was also over two hours away. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms—everything happened suddenly without any notice.

The contact stated that at approximately 55,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a torque converter failure, and the torque converter was replaced under the factory warranty. The contact stated that four months later, the failure reoccurred, and the dealer declined to cover the repair. Subsequently, the camshaft failed, leading to a recommendation for a complete engine replacement. The contact stated that old parts from the original engine were installed on the new engine without authorization. Two months after the engine replacement, the transmission valve body failed while the vehicle was 237th on a back-order list. Three months after a second transmission repair, the vehicle suffered another transmission failure. Was able to safely get off highway. Stopped car, and restarted, error went away and car was able to be driven further without incident. Chose to not take in for service, 4/23 - 9000 miles. Noticed fluttering noise coming from engine bay when lifting off gas after acceleration. Service eventually found lifter/bearing issue. Whole engine was replaced under warranty. Was without car for 3 months. Further research online found that others experienced the same issue while driving and had engine failure at speed resulting in life threatening driving conditions. 4/25 - 31000 miles. Last weekend, driving at highway speeds and came to traffic standstill in left lane on major highway. Went to accelerate, and received "Conditions Not Correct for Shift" message, car went into Neutral and would not accelerate. Turned car off, and tried to restart and car was stuck in Park. No way to access Neutral, leading to blocking of left lane where cars were approaching and avoiding us at highway speeds. OnStar was notified immediately with the severity of danger stressed (2 adults, 2 children and dog remained buckled in the vehicle). However, CHP took over 1 hour to arrive, shut down highway and somehow was able to start the car one time and get into Neutral for CHP to push car safely to shoulder. Dealership alerted me to failed "Fuel Control Module" To have to 3 major engine related incidents that could have lead to accident or death is unacceptable. My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe has a recurring pattern of excessive oil consumption, smoke from the exhaust, repeated check engine light events, P0420 catalyst-efficiency faults, and repeated catalytic-converter-related repairs. At approximately 75,000 miles, the vehicle shut down on the freeway. At approximately 121,000 miles, the first catalytic converter failed. Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel documented P0420 and catalyst failure in November 2025, and GM service history reflects catalytic-converter replacements at 131,468 miles and approximately 141,082 miles. The vehicle also underwent major injector-related repair in early 2026. At 141,620 miles, Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel started an oil consumption test and stated in writing that oil consumption can lead to repeat failed converters and false oxygen sensor readings. Despite substantial repairs, the problem pattern continued. I am reporting this as a possible safety-related defect affecting engine operation, emissions-system failure, and drivability, and I am asking NHTSA to review whether this indicates a broader safety-related defect.

The sliding center console/armrest in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe moves too easily and does not remain securely locked in place when fully extended forward. Even light pressure, such as when a passenger or driver rests an elbow, can cause it to shift suddenly. This can startle the driver and cause a momentary loss of focus, creating a safety hazard while the vehicle is in motion. When the console is fully extended forward, it should lock in position. In my vehicle, it often fails to stay locked, allowing unintended movement in each direction. This happens during normal driving conditions and can be triggered accidentally by an occupant’s elbow or arm. The sudden movement is distracting, especially at highway speeds, and could contribute to an unsafe driving situation. GM issued TSB PIE0677B in April 2022 describing this exact condition (“Power Floor Console Armrest will not lock in place and/or console lid slides back and forth freely”), indicating they are aware of the defect. However, there has been no recall. Given the potential for distraction and loss of control, this should be addressed as a safety recall.

The vehicle almost rolled, and we were lucky that no vehicles were behind us or we would have been rearended. At that time, we pulled over and the vehicle was towed to the service department at the local dealership. Just days before, the windshield wipers completely failed while driving, in the middle of a downpour. I had to pull the vehicle over and wait for the rain to calm before returning home. Also, the entire display panel went blank while driving, as if the vehicle was turned off. I was unable to determine speed etc. There had been a cascade of odd malfunctions days prior to the major events, the clock stopped working, the compass stopped working. The service department informed me that there was a "Bad Valve Body." I was told by the service manager that he had "never heard" of a vehicle doing this. My children and I are terrified to get back in the vehicle, as we almost had what could have been a fatal accident. I am in contact with GM/Chevrolet on possible remedies. I should note again that there are several other defects with the vehicle, that all seem to surround microchip/electrical components. They all seemed to have failed at once, which leads me to believe there is a larger systemic problem with this vehicle, the processors, and components. Again, this was a sudden cascade of failures. I have video of the windshield wipers non-functional during the rain. I was able to take the video after I had stopped. This is exceptionally dangerous. This vehicle is available for inspection. The San Diego Police Department's Fleet Safety Division diagnosed that the weight hitched on the Wanco Lighting Structure did not support the specification limitation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Electrical System,Service Brakes,Fuel/Propulsion System1 queja

Vehicle reduced power and displayed many errors on the dashboard, including reduced function of forward collision avoidance, reduced acceleration, ESC SES TC. A vibration/rumble was observed (unsure if it was steering assist or propulsion surging), as well as increased engine speed without vehicle acceleration and no engine speed increase while pressing the accelerator. Turns seemed to make the symptoms worse and cycling power on the truck would temporarily clear the faults. Root cause was determined to be TSB 21-NA-149 Cause 3 and diagnosis and repairs took more than a week.

Tahoe will not start nor will it allow to be jumped by another vechicle. Tahoe is kept in garage this is the 4th time this has happened. Dealer replaced the battery first time saying that was the culprit, second time they could not find a root cause, and same for third time. I see this is a common problem with engine, battery and electrical of the 2022 tahoe. I do not feel safe in it knowing this could cut off on me driving down the interstate.

Vehicle Speed Control,Engine,Forward Collision Avoidance1 queja

On June 1st, I was put in a very dangerous situation while driving on the highway. Out of nowhere, my vehicle’s engine started clicking and immediately converted to a rough in the middle of highway traffic. I was terribly afraid from my life. I was headed to Duluth, GA for a meeting but had turn around and drive 31 miles back in rush hour traffic to Steve Reyman Chevrolet Dealership, in cobb county in this condition. I was extremely stressed; afraid that i could potentially be injured in an accident or fire, because of the engine. Several never before seen warning signals appeared. These signals included Service ESC, Service Traction Control, Forward Collision System Unavailable and the check engine light. I had just had my truck serviced on 5/26, as the dealership had been monitoring the oil consumption of my 2022 Tahoe. By the time, I arrived to the dealership, the service department was closed, so the vehicle was left overnight. I met with the service advisor in the morning and was told there was a cylinder 4 misfire and that a fuel injector and spark plugs was needed. After picking up, my vehicle on June 12th, the issued was not resolved and my vehicle was inoperable. I regularly service my vehicle including recommended service, so I’m not sure how something this extreme could happen. Looking back at my service records, there have been several occurrences where the vehicle stalled out and the dealer blamed the auto/start stop feature or a failed battery. All pretty ridiculous claims for a brand new truck. I’m convinced this vehicle was produced poorly. My truck has 72,325 miles on it, however I came across several forums with new body Tahoes & Suburbans with way less mileage (i.e. 4300 miles) that experienced the exact same issue. Attached, you will find all the times, I brought my vehicle in for service for a major concerning issue.
