Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Acura MDX and Honda Pilot vehicles and 2019 Acura RLX, RLX Sport Hybrid, TLX and Honda Odyssey and Ridgeline vehicles. The timing belt teeth may separate from the belt.

Reported consequence: Teeth separation from the timing belt may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any affected timing belt free of charge. Vehicles receiving a replacement timing belt will also have the engine inspected and any damaged components will be replaced for free. The recall began June 7, 2019. Honda owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is L4M. Acura owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Reported consequence: Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. STRUCTURE:BODY:ROOF AND PILLARS

NHTSA #18V848000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Honda Ridgeline and Pilot vehicles. The mounting holes for the clip that secures the right center pillar trim panel may be larger than intended. In the event of a crash necessitating right side curtain air bag deployment, the clip may not hold the center pillar trim panel in position and it may potentially interfere with the curtain air bag deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection," and 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

Reported consequence: In the event of a crash, if the curtain air bag does not deploy as intended, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket on the right center pillar that will securely hold the center pillar trim clip, free of charge. The recall began January 22, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is D3D.

SUSPENSION:REAR

The rear subframe may corrode at the suspension mounting points, which can result in rear suspension component failure.

Reported consequence: Failure of rear suspension components, such as the rear control arm, can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rear subframe and install a rear subframe reinforcement kit and, as necessary, repair or replace the rear subframe components, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are AOU and AOT. NHTSA #21V932000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Passport, 2016-2019 Pilot, and 2017-2020 Ridgeline vehicles. The hood latch striker may become damaged and separate from the hood, which can result in the hood opening while driving.

Reported consequence: A hood that opens while driving can obstruct the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will either repair the hood latch striker, or replace the hood if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 18, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is PBV.

NHTSA #18V664000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Honda Insight, Odyssey, and Ridgeline vehicles. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit may have a manufacturing error, possibly resulting in the air bags or seatbelt pretensioners not deploying in the event of a crash.

Reported consequence: In the event of a crash, if the air bags or seatbelt pretensioners do not function as intended, there would be an increased risk of injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the SRS unit, free of charge. The recall began November 8, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are B2R, C2P, and Z2Q.

EQUIPMENT

NHTSA #20E068000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling all Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau Covers, part number 08Z07-T6Z-100F, sold for installation on 2017-2020 Ridgeline trucks. If the tonneau cover is not properly secured in the open or closed position, wind resistance may cause the cover to flip and buckle. If this occurs, the hinges between the center and rear panel may deform, possibly allowing the rear panel to separate from the vehicle.

Reported consequence: A separated panel may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash or injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify all registered owners of 2017-2020 Honda Ridgelines, and dealers will install tethers onto any Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau Cover to prevent panel separation and apply warning labels, free of charge. Reported consequence: An inoperative rearview camera can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the rearview camera wiring harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 31, 2023. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is 6RW.

Reported consequence: A crack in the fuel pump feed port can allow pressurized fuel to leak out, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, if necessary, and install a fuel pump cover, free of charge. The recall began March 14, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. The recall number for this recall is Q3V.

I am writing to advise you of Recall Notices I have received but have been unable to get addressed on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. Over the last year I have received 3 Recall Notices and have not been unable to get them taken care of. Shown below are the actions I have taken relative to the Recall Notices. Perhaps you can assist me in this endeavor. February, 2024- Received Recall Notice (Copy Attached) March 5, 2024: Contacted Dealership (Don Moore Honda, Owensboro, Ky.) Was advised to call back the first week of April to see if the parts had come in to do the necessary mechanical work. May 13, 2024: Contacted Dealership- parts had not arrived yet. Advised to call back in the fall of the year. Parts may have arrived by that time. Late May, 2024- Received 2nd Recall Notice from Honda Automotive December, 2024- Received 3rd Recall Notice from Honda Automotive January 14, 2025- Contacted Dealership- was told parts still not on hand. Woman I spoke with said she would order the parts and advise when parts arrived. Today is March 12, over a year since I received my first Recall Notice. I have received two similar Recall Notices since then. And still no activity to address the possible problem. If the Recall is not necessary, then would someone please let me know, so I can disregard the Recall Notices. If the Recall Notice is important, then please advise what I can do to get the issue resolved.

Truck started clacking going down the freeway after religiously maintaining it for the last 5 years. Took it into the dealer at 153,000 miles and was told my engine needs replacing due to rod bearing knock. A little premature on a Honda that has been religiously maintained! Called Honda customer service and was told my vin is not included in the rod bearing safety recall for my exact vehicle, year, make, and model!

NHTSA #11690387

Failed camshaft thrust bearing per Honda. This same part on other 2019 Ridgeline models was subject of Recall number 23V-751. While this failure is not covered by that recall it is very difficult to believe this part wasn't defective as well. The fix is very expensive ($4500) and I can't be the only 2019 Ridgeline owner in this situation.

NHTSA #11686585

Transmission hesitates during acceleration. Truck was purchase new and the problem began within 10k miles. Dealer suggested changing transmission oil every 30k miles but the problem would happen soon after every change. Transmission failed on highway with 99k miles. Dealer charged 10k to replace transmission with admitting they are seeing this issue on other 6 speed transmission.

The Transmission error continues to flash on the dash. It has now happened on four (4) occasions. Transmission was flushed and still occurs. Diagnostic Error Code P0741 stored. Torque Converter issue. Honda has extended the warranty for most of these vehicles, mine is not showing in the extension. However, it appears to meet all the specifications that it should be covered. Have it at the dealership which confirms all above. They claim Honda Corporate has to decide to extend the warranty. Talked to Honda Corporate today and they said the NHTSA has to extend the warranty, they do not decide.

(This incident report is for my replacement transmission, I have already submitted an incident report for my original transmission which also failed in the exact same manner.) 1. My replacement transmission started bucking and clanging and down shifted extremely hard while I was driving in traffic, I lost all power and the vehicle would not accelerate but the RPM's kept rising. 2. My safety was at risk because I lost power while in traffic and my vehicle became disabled on the road and I required the assistance of good Samaritans to help move my car off the road way, causing their safety to be at risk too. 3. My vehicle has been inspected by Honda. Their recommendation was to replace the original transmission, so I did, and the second transmission (the subject of this incident report) also failed, in the same manner. 4. The vehicle monitoring system did not give any prior warning that something was wrong till after the vehicle bucked, down shifted and lost power, only then did the car warnings go off and say "Transmission system" and then "emissions system"

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle hesitated while shifting into gear. While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle hesitated while shifting into gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a transmission center, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but there was no response. The failure mileage was approximately 61,500.

While driving in traffic, the transmission made a clunk and the vehicle would not continue to accelerate, instead the rpms kept rising, (zero change in speed) the vehicle never shifted up or down again after this. Had to keep the car driving at around 35 mph till I got to a safe location to park the car.

I have had to replace the transmission fluid at least 5 times. The vehicle shifts extremely hard and feels like your being rear ended, That is my indicator to change fluid. Also will not shift and continues to run at 4500+ rpms on the highway. The clutch converter my self destruct and I feel that it is a poor design and I should not have to pay for this over and over and hope it does not have a catastrophic failure at some point. I know they Honda has replaced some clutch converters but mine is not one of the six speeds chosen.

NHTSA #11638346

Torque Converter malfunctioned causing vehicle to bang into first gear with slow acceleration there after as I was accelerating/merging onto the highway. Tractor trailer that was coming up to where I was merging needed to swerve into other lane to avoid hitting me. Brought vehicle to dealer and they confirmed that my torque converter needed to be changed. There were no previous warning signs or warning lamps indicating there was a problem. Honda has a service bulletin out # 23-078 for faulty torque converter issue for my year but Honda dealer states that my VIN is not part of that service bulletin so I have to pay to replace the torque converter.

NHTSA #11630104

I am writing to express my concern regarding an ongoing transmission issue with my Honda Ridgeline. I initially experienced problems with the transmission around 60,000 miles, which manifested as gear slippage or shuddering. After bringing the vehicle in for inspection, I was informed that this issue had been noticed with other Ridgeline models, although Honda has not issued a recall for it. Instead, a Service Bulletin was issued, recommending a transmission fluid flush followed by a test drive at various speeds, and repeating this process three times. This procedure was performed, and the issue seemed to resolve temporarily. However, I am now experiencing the same problem again at 79,000 miles. While the flush worked previously, it seems unreasonable that I would need to repeat this process, especially considering the associated costs of flushing the transmission fluid multiple times without a lasting solution.

The transmission in my Honda Ridgeline failed while traveling on the highway at a high rate of speed. Ultimately, there was an internal failure with 3rd gear having been lost. The vehicle was not towing or hauling anything other than myself, two other passengers, and a bit of luggage. This was a properly maintained vehicle with a transmission service performed a year prior. Upon stopping I opened the hood to discover transmission fluid sprayed all over the engine bay and the transmission dipstick missing. At the time of failure, there were no warning signs or lights on the dashboard. According to the Honda technicians that diagnosed and replaced the transmission there was no reason as to why it had failed in such a way. I feel that this type of failure could have caused a serious accident. Anyone considering a vehicle with this transmission should be aware before putting their family in it that it may go out suddenly.

NHTSA #11597734

Transmission intermittently shifts very very hard. Like you have been in rear ended by another car. To the point you can not drive due to how hard it shifts. Also related to this and often but not always occur in unison is that the transmission will not shift into the higher gears. 5 or 6th. It will stay in a lower gear and produce excessive rpms at highway speeds. Around 50+ the car will not shift and the rpms go well over 3000-4000 rpms to maintain speed. This has now happened several times in the last 6 months. The dealer had me pay to change the transmission fluid and it went away for a few months and the problem is now back.

My torque converter is failing, sputtering in 1st and 2nd gear constantly. P0741 shows up in code however my truck is not part of the INVIN 8 year 150,000 extended. I currently have 140,000 on my truck with a bad torque converter and am having to pay in full for the repair.

NHTSA #11610880

My truck doesn't qualify for the 8 years 150,000 extended warranty due to the vin, however at 140,000 miles my truck has continued to experience spuddering and low acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear. My mechanic informed me I have a bad torque converter, which is known to happen with 2019 ridgelines. However Scott Honda in West Chester PA isn't acknowledging the issue per the warranty. Code P0741 was evident when I got transmission flushed in April 26, 2024 by my mechanic at Qyst automotive in Upper Darby PA. He informed me to bring it to Scott Honda with the confidence they would happily take care of it because it is a safety concern. My truck feels unsafe to drive and although the same issue is happening under the extended warranty torque converter recall I have to pay out of pocket for an unsafe vehicle.

NHTSA #11610919

On 1-12-2024, without any previous warning, a message pop up on the screen inside my truck that there was a problem with the AWD system on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. I took it into the Honda dealer 2 hours later and was told that the rear differential oil pump was not working. At that time I was not given a reason for the pump failure. I asked whether it would be covered under the drive train warranty and was told that the warranty had run out in June of 2023 and eventhough it only had 44,000 miles it would not be covered. They needed to order a part and I took the truck in for repairs on 1-18-2024. The problem message stayed on until repairs were done. It was not intermittant. When I got the bill it stated on the bill that the pump had failed due to "corrosion". I don't know if any other party has inspected the part or if it is still available for inspection anymore and the only confirmation I have of the problem is what the dealer service manager told me. I believe that this is a significant safety issue in that if a major part of the drive train fails without notice while driving it could cause the vehicle to swerve and cause death and/or destruction of property. I think it may be a design flaw in that if a major part of the drive train fails after only 44,000 miles due to corrosion, that part is not adequately manufactured, placed or shielded to prevent corrosion.

My vehicle a 2019 Honda Ridgeline has an identified issue with the torque converter from the dealership. American Honda has a Service Bulletin 23-078 (listed below) that covers the exact same issue but my VIn falls short of being included in this identified and known issue. MULTIPLE Honda Ridgeline owners 2017-2019 with the 6AT have had these same issues. Service Bulletin 23-078 August 31, 2023 Version 1 Warranty Extension: 2017–19 Multi-Model 6AT Torque Converter - DTC P0741 Stored AFFECTED VEHICLES Year Model Trim VIN Range 2017–18 Pilot ALL w/ 6AT Check iN VIN status for eligibility 2017–19 Ridgeline BACKGROUND Torque converters may not have been manufactured to proper specifications. As a result, the torque converter lock-up clutch cannot provide adequate holding force due to pressure bleeding down through a crack in the lock-up piston. The reduced lock-up clutch capacity results in DTC P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck OFF. American Honda is extending the warranty on the torque converter to 8 years or 150,000 miles from the original date of purchase, whichever comes first. CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign. Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible. CORRECTIVE ACTION Confirm the vehicle has DTC P0741 stored and replace the torque converter.

In research to an upcoming service repair on 5/24/24, I experienced the service advisor knowing very quickly about the symptoms I told him. Made me inquire a google search about the tork converter in my transmission. To my dismay, numerous complaints were visible along with a class action suit actively being pursued for same issue. I realized the cost to Honda, but I feel some type of pressure needs applied for a recall since my cost was going to be around $800-$900. American Honda Motors gave me the typical speech, as to not show any prejudice toward the issue.

NHTSA #11590118

At approximately 50,000 miles I began experiencing a “judder” from my transmission mostly while driving uphill. I researched the issue and discovered that a significant number of ridgeline transmissions (2017-2019) are experiencing the same issue. It is a problem with the torque converter. The dealer was aware of the issue and charged me over $400 to triple flush the transmission(even though I have a dealer extended warranty). It is possible for the torque converter to fail causing transmission failure. It is now recommended to flush the transmission frequently(more than manufacturer service recommended intervals) to hopefully keep the transmission from failing.

NHTSA #11556863

My 2019 Honda Ridgeline had very noticeable torque converter judder with milage in the 40k. I do not tow other than an occasional utility trailer, loaded lightly. Additionally, the vehicle was always operated in normal conditions. There were never any warning vehicle codes or any other Honda notices on potential problem. On 7/14/2023, I took it to a Honda dealer who verified condition in writing on invoice and serviced the vehicle in accordance with Honda Service Bulletins 17-025 and 17-026 which resulted from similar complaints and class action from 2017 Honda Ridgelines. After researching online, I noticed many 2018 and 2019 ridgeline owners were complaining about the same issue of premature transmission torque converter problems in various forums. This premature defective transmission issue did not go unnoticed by Honda as they changed to a different transmission for 2020 models. I believe that Honda and this issue should be investigated so as to hold Honda responsible for appropriate corrective action to include warranty extension of the 5 year / 60000 miles. I am uploading Invoice which documents issue and payment. Document says RPM surges 1000 to 2000, which should have read 100 to 200 RPMs.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while his wife was driving through a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated upon the depression of the brake pedal without warning. Due to the failure, the contact's wife hit a brick column which resulted in a chip. The air bags deployed upon impact. The contact's wife suffered bruises around her waist and right thumb. The contact's wife did not seek medical treatment due to her injuries. A police report was not filed. The contact was called to the scene and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was repaired. Prior to the failure, the contact noticed that the brakes were soft upon depression without any warning. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was 23,706.

At 45k miles the transmission is surging at low speed. according to several honda forums, this is a very common problem cause by a bad torque converter. Mine is going to the dealership for repair Friday (I first have to pay $200 for transmission fluid flush/replacement) Even the guy at the dealerships new it was an issue (told me: "probably torque converter, seeing a lot of those"). vehicle is in great shape otherwise and has been babied the whole time. he says torque converter is covered only up to 60k miles. this needs to be a recall!

While operating my 2019 Honda Ridgeline at normal driving speed, the vehicle experienced a sudden and catastrophic engine failure without warning. Immediately prior to failure, a loud metallic knocking/hammering noise developed from the engine area. Within seconds, the engine lost power and shut off completely while the vehicle was in motion. After the shutdown, the vehicle would not restart. Attempts to start the engine resulted in minimal or no crank, even when using a jump start. The vehicle had to be towed. A subsequent inspection determined that the engine had no compression, indicating severe internal mechanical failure. The failure occurred abruptly and without any prior warning lights, temperature issues, or drivability concerns. This failure created a significant safety hazard, as the vehicle lost all power while driving, which could have resulted in a loss of control or increased risk of collision, especially in higher-speed or traffic conditions.

The contact's boyfriend owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while her boyfriend was driving at highway speeds, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle entered LIMP Mode with the check engine and emissions warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was pulled off to the shoulder of the highway and was later towed to the dealer. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic discovered that an engine rod had gone through the engine block, resulting in engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. A case was filed with the dealer for financial assistance, but the case was denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

On 1/5/2026 while pulling unto a major intersection, my 2019 Honda Ridgeline with 64,000 miles suddenly jolted, lost engine power, and every dash light came on indicating that all electronics were inoperable. Fortunately there was no fast moving on coming traffic. After examination in mechanics shop, it was found that the camshaft was bad. attached is the $3,900.00 invoice. Attached also is a picture of the sensor showing that the camshaft was moving and hitting the sensor which caused the truck to go into safe mode. According to your own investigation and speaking to the Honda service department, this obvious is a factory defect that Honda needs to address. The cam obviously is not strong enough. My 2019 Honda Ridgeline vehicle has less than 70,000 miles and we have always gotten our oil changed at the recommended times. The last time was about 2,000 miles ago at the Honda dealership. We also regularly check the oil. While driving down the interstate near where we live, the car engine suddenly stopped working and smoke came from the engine. Thankfully, we were in right lane and were able to coast it to the shoulder. We had the car towed to the nearest Honda dealership. For some reason which the Honda dealership won't disclose nor would corporate Honda, the piston in the engine blew two holes in the number 5 cylinder. This damage is consistent with the possible damage that a recent recall addressed. In that recall the piston bearings needed to be replaced. Although some 2019 Honda Ridgelines were included in that recall, our VIN number was not. There was also a recent investigation by the NHTSA into similar instances involving similar damages and vehicles not being included in the baring recall. Although we were not hurt, if the highway had been more crowded or the car not in the right lane, we could have been seriously hurt. Furthermore, the engine will cost $17,548 to replace. After requesting assistance from the Honda through their goodwill program, we were denied. The car has not yet been repaired. We would like to request further investigation into this and similar instances. Thank you.

Excessive wear on connecting rod or crankshaft bearings. While performing a pre-road trip oil change after only 1600 miles, I found a large amount of copper glitter metal particles in the engine oil. I have oil samples and the oil filter available for inspection. And I have pictures. If the bearings seize the engine will stop running possibly causing an accident. I had put just 15 miles on the fresh oil while driving it to the Honda dealer. They drained the fresh oil and said they did not find metal - not surprising because I had just changed it. They said the connecting rods weren't knocking and to drive it another 5000 miles then bring it back. I hear some faint knocking when the engine is cold that goes away as the engine gets warm.

I am writing to bring to your attention a significant issue I have encountered with my 2019 Honda Ridgeline, which recently suffered a catastrophic engine failure from a seized connecting rod bearing, resulting in a blown engine. With virtually no warning, the dash lights illuminated and the engine lost power and started smoking while on the freeway. A 911 was called and police and fire responded. The engine compartment was drenched with water in an effort to prevent a fire. Any delay in emergency services response would have certainly resulted in a fire and possible accident or injury. The vehicle was towed to and is currently at my local Honda dealer who confirmed the cause of the engine failure. I was informed that there was a recall issued for this exact problem for 2017 and 2019 Honda Ridgelines, however my VIN was not included in the recall even though my vehicle experienced the same engine problems. Allstate insurance inspected the vehicle and confirmed the cause of the failure. Additionally, after researching this issue I found that there are numerous 2017 and 2019 Honda Ridgeline owners who have also experienced the same exact issues. I would like to understand why my vehicle was not included in this recall and if there is anything that the NHTSA can do to get it covered. I was told by Honda America that you have the authority to expand the recall. .

Engine suffered internal mechanical failure. I had the failed engine replaced so it is no longer in my position. My wife was driving and was nearly rear-ended on a major highway at around 55mph. Without warning, the truck stalled then completely stopped. she was able to get it running for a short period in order to go down an off ramp. Then it would not restart. I had the truck towed to the dealer and the diagnosing mechanic described it as an internal mechanical failure, most likely a rod bearing failure. The dealership service manager discouraged me for having the engine full diagnosed because of the cost. Failure occurred without warning. Once the truck stalled, all warning lights began to flash.

NHTSA #11628027

I have a well maintained 2019 RIdgeline that at midnight on the highway started flashing a red motor sign at me, and within 10 miles was flashing all lights and chugging and grinding, stranding me. I found out Honda had recalled hundreds of thousands of cars due to a similar failure. I asked Honda customer service and my local dealer if I were to pay for diagnosis and it was the same failure as recalled motors, would they cover it, they won't answer me, but the dealer implies that I will pay all costs period, diagnostic fee as well as used motor cost, because even thought they quoted me a new motor at $20,000 they actually don't have the motor, so I have to take used motor. I went through a nightmare last year with them and had to pay $4000 for a torque converter repair while 2 1/2 yrs of my same truck got theirs free, mine was too newly built to be covered. I think they are borderline criminal in their actions.

Beginning at ~30K miles, I am hearing a "rod-knock" from the bottom of engine. Especially noticeable when starting out from a stop. Easily reproduced by putting foot on brake, truck in drive, and slowly depressing accelerator pedal. All maintenance since day 1 on truck (now has 65k miles) has been done at dealer. Reported issue to dealer and they responded, "cannot duplicate". I fall within the Honda engine rod bearing issue and I am concerned about engine failure.

My car was recalled months ago but Honda has not provided the parts for the repair. I don't know why they are telling me about the recall (it is serious...fuel pump) but not getting parts in a timely manner to fix it. Bought this 2019 Honda Ridgeline on 1/2/25. Honda corrected the recall for fuel pump and after that, my car is burning fuel like crazy. Now they said that I need to replace my fuel pump and they said my VIN is not included on the recall for fuel injectors. Honda know that they should recall all their 2019 Honda Ridgeline model and not just a specific VIN. They need to recall this faulty fuel injectors with the new one and honor the 10 years and 150,000 miles fuel injectors warranty on all the 2019 Honda Ridgeline model and not just a specific VIN numbers. This is safety issue and should be addressed by Honda.

Recall is from Feb. 2024. Repeated calls starting in Feb. 2024 to Vans Honda in Green Bay, WI. Called 4 or 5 times and talked to a Service Rep. They are responded that they did not have the part needed to fix the issue and did not know when the part would be available. The ALL said that I would be contacted as soon as the part was available to set up an appointment to have the defective part replaced. On 1/6/2025 I again contacted Vans Honda. The rep said they did not have the part but that he would put in an order TODAY to order the part for me. I asked why after calling five time the part was not on order already. He did not know. My vehicle now has another issue. The display is showing "Emissions System Problem". I believe this new issue has to do with the fuel not being delivered to the engine properly due to the defective part in the fuel pump. I believe Honda needs to fix all the engine problems this recall has given to my vehicle.

There is a fuel pump recall on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The danger of this is it could go out causing a crash and or injury. I have been trying to get this replaced for ONE YEAR now, to no avail. I want to avoid this happening while driving at freeway speeds, and need to have it replaced ASAP.

I took my 2019 Honda Ridgeline in on November 4, 2024, for a P0430 code (which was intermittent) and for a fuel pump recall. The dealership informed me that the fuel pump would need to be ordered, which would take a few days. However, shortly after dropping off the vehicle, I received a call stating that the fuel injector for cylinder 6 had failed the test, and they quoted $1,734.71 for replacing the fuel injectors. I inquired about Honda Service Bulletin 19-073 (dated July 5, 2019), which addresses issues related to debris from the fuel injector manufacturing process. The dealership then called back and informed me that this issue would only be covered under the warranty period. They advised me to submit a claim directly to Honda, providing me with a phone number for that purpose. Since getting the vehicle back, I have conducted further research and found Honda Service Bulletin 21-010 (dated February 11, 2021), which extends the warranty on these fuel injector repairs to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. My Ridgeline has only 61,000 miles. I filed a claim with AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO, case # 15143166 on 11/16/24 requesting reimbursement for the fuel injector repair in the amount of $1,734.71. I received a phone call on 11/30/24 stating my claim had been rejected. They stated I needed to submit a complaint with NHTSA. The symptoms experienced are the exact the same as the two service bulletins describe, thus the repairs should be covered. I emailed the service department on November 15, 2024, to inquire about the status of the fuel pump, but as of today, it has not yet arrived. I have been waiting over a year for a fuel pump replacement. I have highlighted pertinent information in the attached documents

Over the last several months the vehicle developed a strong fuel odor in the engine compartment after being driven. I took it to the Honda dealer to identify the cause on 8/30/24, they kept the vehicle for 2 days and were unable to find a problem although they also observed the strong fuel smell. Their recommendation was to return with gas tank less than half full so they could check that. Fuel smell is clearly in the engine compartment, so I took the vehicle to my local mechanic who used a camera to localize the smell/leak to the top of the engine. They recommended removal of the manifold to diagnose further and identified a significant leak between the high pressure fuel pump and the injectors. They replace the fuel joint pipe, six injectors, and high pressure fuel pump cover which was saturated in fuel. Two areas of concern. First, there is clearly an unadressed leak problem with the fuel joint pipe. It is mentioned in several places on the NHTSA site for this Ridgline model and several related model designs. While this vehicle did not catch fire, a significant leak on the high pressure side of the high pressure fuel pump is a clear hazard and should be analyzed to identify the root cause. Second, Honda needs to proactively address this with their dealer technicians. I have no way to verify if they actually disassembled the top of the engine to access the high pressure fuel pump, fuel joint pipe, and injectors, as they told me, but it didn't take long for my local mechanic to identify the issue once they did. Bottom line is this problem is real, occurs frequently enough to appear as an issue reported to NHTSA and will not be easily identified by scanning the vehicle codes which is apparently what the dealer standard practice is.

We started experiencing hesitation with our 2019 Ridgeline. We then experienced twice the check engine light coming on but eventually clearing on its own. We took the truck to the Honda dealer from where we purchased our Ridgeline new. They mentioned there is a huge backlog on the factory recalled fuel pump, which is part of the root cause of the truck stumbling and hesitating. They additionally cited the fuel injectors as a root cause. We then discovered the repair parts are not available with no date known as to when the parts will arrive. We then checked with the only other Honda dealer in Tucson, AZ and that dealer stated the parts were not expected until December 2024 at the earliest. We then called Honda corporate office in California, and they were even less helpful than the dealerships in town. We are VERY concerned that we have a 2000 mile trip to take at the end of August when we will temporarily relocate for me to attend graduate school. Is there anything you can do to get Honda moving on acquiring the parts so we don't get stranded somewhere on our trip?

Emissions light came on and code read a faulty fuel injector. I see it is an extremely common issue and warranty has been extended in some states. Honda dealership tried to charge me $2,000 to replace injectors. This is happening to two other ridgeline owners that I am aquatinted with. It seems that Honda is aware of the issue when I purchased the vehicle.

Honda issued a recall for my vehicle in Feb 2024 and I have sought to have this issue resolved since then. I have visited my local dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle over 12 times since and they have declined to put me on a list to obtain the replacement part. Today, the parts department clerk told me that all the parts that they receive from Honda go to fix the vehicles that they have on the lot for sale. They would not accept an order for the part to repair my vehicle and told me that I would just have to keep checking in with them. I have been waiting for over 10 months for their proactive response to no avail. There is no indication that Honda has any intention of repairing this defect and the Safety Consequence of a potential of an 'increased risk of a crash or injury' remains. My wife does not even want to travel in this vehicle due to the unresolved risk that this vehicle presents. I strongly feel that Honda should be required to resolve this issue for the existing cliental with in use vehicles prior to being allowed to fix their unsold in stock used vehicles for sale and profit (to the detriment of existing customers). This would certainly put the pressure on Honda to expedite the remedy of this long existing recall.

Emissions System Problem Alert message and Check Engine Light came on Jan 27th 2024. Vehicle Mileage at this point was 59,960. I took my 2019 2WD Ridgeline Sport in for service early Feb. 2024 to have the problem investigated. It was deemed as bad Fuel Injectors. Parts were not in stock and were ordered. The Check Engine Light and the Alert went away the very next day. Then there was a recall issued for the fuel pump around mid February 2024. Parts were not available so it was ordered. Fast forward to March (No Check Engine Light or Alerts) I did some research on fuel pump issues and found that it could cause the Check Engine light to come on and the Emissions System alert. March 22nd I took it in for the fuel pump replacement, upon arrival they stated that the fuel injectors were in and they would replace those as well. I declined them being replaced based upon my fuel pump research. Fuel pump replaced only. Between March 22nd 2024 and Oct 2 2024 (No Check Engine Lights or Emissions System Alerts) Oct 3rd both the Alert and Check Engine light came on and then went off the very next day. January 7 2025 the alert and check engine light returned and stayed on for about 10 days and then went off. Service scheduled for January 24th 2025. Fuel Injector were changed for $1148.00 as of now no further issues Vehicle Mileage 70,405. The complaint is that this is a known fuel injector problem and I don't believe that Honda did a very good job of containing the fuel injectors that were not manufactured to proper specifications as noted in the Warranty Extension for fuel injectors dated 2/11/2021 which only states certain 2017-2019 Honda Ridgelines, my guess by certain VIN #s In my opinion Honda should cover the the cost of replacing my fuel injectors. There are loads of customers out there, if you do the research, that have had the same issue as me. For reference I have attached the Warranty Extension notice.

Complaint of a chirp noise heard inside cabin or coming from the engine compartment. Sometimes it is heard very well, sometimes weakly. What influences this is not clear. The car was delivered to the dealer. After diagnostics, it was diagnosed that noise coming from high pressure fuel pump and rear engine mount.

Vehicle emits a popping sound several minutes after startup and several minutes after shutdown. It appears the carbon/vapor canister or fuel tank is not properly allowing the pressure to properly disparate. Been happening since new; dealer says they are not aware of it being a known issue. 2019 Honda Ridgeline alarm started going off at random times. This is a safety concern because it causes drain on battery and could affect vehicles ability to operate . The part is the keyless entry unit located behind glove box. I had to go out to check the car in the middle of the night several times. This part has been reported and listed here under bulletin SB-21-055. Honda offered extended warranty and fixed some vehicles as reported by some Ridgeline owners. This random alarm was reported by 86 Ridgeline owners according to Ridgeline owners club. The repair cost me $957 including a $287 charge for labor- according to the NHSTA bulletin SB 21-055 labor should be .03 to .08 hours to repair - beware of over charge for labor. Courtesy Honda of Palm Harbor Fl. Offered $100 off when informed of the keyless entry unit history. I escalated to American Honda who offered nothing, not even goodwill discount. This is the keyless entry unit for bind Ridgeline and Pilots. There is a documented issue with this part (SB 21-055) it’s a safety concern considering the draw on battery power not to mention where you are when the alarm starts blaring. This part has a known history of being faulty, has been documented with NHSTA (SB 21-055) Ridgeline Owners Club has 86 different entries for that part alone and could effect lighting and driver assist functions considering the draw on battery power. The alarm goes off without warning or indication and happens randomly.

There was a following problem. The car began to turn on the ignition itself. It does not matter if the keys are inside the car or far away from it. This leads to a complete discharge of the battery. May trigger an alarm if the car is closed. Flashing malfunction indicators. A couple of times it was difficult to turn off the car. After pressing the start button to stop the engine, the engine continued to run. After repeating the attempts several times (4-5), the engine stopped. Also had trouble starting the car several times. The starter worked but the car would not start. Disconnecting the battery and connecting it again solved the problem and the car started. The car was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that Keyless access control unit is failing. After replacing the unit and at the moment the car is working as it should.

A failure with the "keyless entry/TPMS control unit" caused my alarm to go off randomly. Alarm would go off at random times, draining the battery & leaving the truck unable to be started. Also, while going off, the truck could not be used/controlled/started. Honda replaced the defective part, at my cost, without a manufacturer discount. This happened randomly from when the vehicle was about 2-3 years old, then reappeared at around 4-5 years. Honda knows about this problem and issues a TSB for it, TSB 21-055.

Honda dealership told me to bring my vehicle in for NHTSA 22V867. They checked parts department and told me they had ample parts in supply. At the dealership I was told the wiring harness was inspected by them and was fine and would not be replaced. I was provided an invoice that stated “recall performed”. The service manager explained they do what Honda tells them, not what the NHTSA says. I inquired directly to Honda and they verified they do not do what the NHTSA says, only what Honda says. I would like the wiring harness replaced per the recall, per the ample supply Honda told me they have. The dealership verified twice to me they have an ample supply.

The trailer hitch receiver broke off the trailer hitch frame, which caused out travel trailer to become completely disconnected from the truck. The hitch was standard equipment on the truck when we bought the truck new, and the hitch is rated as "Class III", which means it should be able to tow a trailer weighing up to 8,000 pounds, with a tongue weight up to 800 pounds. Our trailer has a dry weight of 3,500 pounds, and a hitch weight of 535 pounds. We've owned the truck since it was new, and the truck has never pulled a heavier trailer. By a stroke of incredibly good luck, the trailer broke free from the truck when we were going 5 mph in a level parking lot. We were 1450 miles into a trip, and many of those miles were at highway speed. If the trailer receiver had broken at highway speed, the trailer would have been completely free of the truck at highway speed.

Driver’s sun visor is extremely hard to pull down quickly with one hand. It sticks so bad I need to use both hands to pull it down to shield my eyes from the blinding sun in certain seasons and driving situations. If I need two hands to pull it down how can I keep one hand on the steering wheel. I have Googled this issue and numerous owners have had the same problem. My vehicle was purchased as a Used, Certified HONDA that went through rigorous inspections. Looks like they never tried to flip down the sun visor in this one. This is clearly a safety issue if you’re trying to steer and struggling with operating the sun visor. It has been this difficult since I have owned the vehicle. When I asked the service provider they said “yes some do that for some reason but you’d have to replace it.”

I request Honda consideration of payment for hood replacement on my 2019 Ridgeline. Since I bought the truck new in 2019, the hood has fluttered alarmingly in turbulent air. I took it in when I got the recall notice in Jan 2022, hoping that it would resolve the problem. The local dealer installed a bracket reinforcement at that time. It did not prevent the hood flutter. This summer, as I was travelling in Wyoming on a 2 lane road at 55mph, I encountered a blast of air from a semi truck going the opposite direction. The left side of the hood blew up 4-5 inches, accompanied by a loud banging noise. The hood latch held. When I stopped, the left side of the hood was deformed upward about 1.5 inches. At roadside, I torqued it down so that it did not have such a big gap, but after that, it would even deform up substantially with the bow wave from a passing motorcycle. Ultimately, I used Guerilla Tape to hold the hood down and to try to prevent air pressure from getting under the hood and lifting. This was effective, but I noticed that now the entire hood would flutter. In 2021, Honda sent me a recall notice about this issue and I complied. That notice said that one of the potential remedies was hood replacement. This seems adequate evidence to me that Honda acknowledges a design flaw. i believe that there are actually 2 flaws. one with inadequate stiffness of the leading edge of the hood, and the other inadequate prevention of air ingress under the leading edge of the hood. The combination of these led to hood failure. I believe that if I had waited to respond to the recall notice, that Honda would have certainly replaced my hood, the skin of which is now completely debonded from the underlying skeleton. I suspect that my local dealer followed recall guidelines in the placement of latch reinforcement, but maintain that this was inadequate remedy for a potentially lethal problem.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Driver side Side View Mirror - No, I had to have it replaced and did not get it back. Please see recalls related to this issue for years 2020 thru 2021 for Honda Pilots, Passports, Ridgelines, and Odysseys. To me it seems they need to go back one more year. Mabe it very difficult to have a clear view out that mirror. Difficult to see here other vehicles where in that mirror. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealer saw problem and agreed it was a problem. They replaced it. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not that I am aware of. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

My wife and I had decided to empty our storage unit, so on Memorial Day we began moving everything into the garage. After five or six trips Honda, I pulled the car up beside the RV and close to the house for what turned out to be the last load. I unloaded my bicycle and nearly everything else, leaving only a few small items, and then removed the massage table from the back seat. The engine was off this entire time. That was when I noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. At first, I thought the radiator had overheated, so I tried to open the hood, but it was too hot. I went into the garage for gloves and a fire extinguisher and tried again, but still could not get it open. Realizing the situation was getting worse and that I could not stop it there, I jumped into the car and tried to start it. To my surprise, it started immediately, and I drove it as fast as I could out to the street in front of the house. Only later did I realize that this likely saved my RV—and possibly the front of my house as well—from catching fire. We were so blessed that I was able to move the car to a safer location and no one was hurt. It was a miracle.

While driving with the cruise control set at 52mph, I was coming to a known left curve with a stop sign four way intersection that follows it (I drive this route at least 50% of the time whenever leaving my home). I hit the 'Cancel' button to stop the cruise control as I came to the curve, and there was no response. I hit the brakes and again there was no response. At that point I prepared for a wreck because I knew the curve was tight, followed by that intersection's stop sign, and I was almost upon the curve. Continuing to try to apply brakes and getting no response, I could not hold the curve of the road and left the roadway to the right side. I narrowly avoided a lightpole, and then I was finally at the ditch of the crossroad already mentioned. The truck struck the ditch embankment facing me and likely launched airborn at that point, going across the first lane of the crossroad. After about the width of that lane, it appears that's when the front suspension landed, gouging the asphalt and deploying the airbag on me at that point. This seems to be when the braking system finally responded as I started to slow down some, as it bounced and jerked across the remaining lanes, leaving skid marks on that part of the road. I steered it between two signs on the far side, still barely under control but it finally slowing down into the 20s or so, where I had control and brought it to a stop. The vehicle had no known issues or ODBII scan codes prior to this incident. *After the incident*, there was an ABS system fault code present, and it also showed an ABS fault message on the vehicle information screen after the incident. I believe this could be related to the cruise control malfunction, as I know that the ABS system is often involved in modern cruise control systems to control hill descent speeds. The road section just prior to where I attempted to turn off the cruise control was on a slight hill descent, but I don't know if that was related to what happened to me.

while driving vehicle hesitated and almost shut off. it has happened twice in the last month. also sometimes is hard to start engine. I received the fuel pump recall in February 2024 and again in May 2024 stating that parts should be available in FALL. I called DCH Honda of Temecula and I was told that they do not have parts and they have no idea when they will have parts on hand. I fear that my truck will shut off and I will not be able to stop it in time. Especially when driving 65-70 MPH on freeway.

Driving on the freeway the sun roof exploded shattering the glass unexpectedly. There was no rock or other outside projectile that hit the glass since I had a kayak above the glass on a roof rack pretty much covering most of the glass. I was able to close the shade door inside before the glass came down on us. I found out that this has happened on other Honda vehicles and there is a class action suit which I don't know much about. My insurance company will replace it but will cost me my $500 deductible.

Seats1 complaint

The driver seat on my 2019 Ridgeline I believe is a safety hazard (potentially the passenger also). When braking they move forward with a thud. The same for speeding up as there is a noticeable thud. Dealer states it is the Frame Rail. In 2018 there was a recall for very similar issue for Honda Pilot's (same seat and frame) due to the seat dislodging when in a accident. I believe this same thing will happen to me (and others possibly) as the problem seems to be getting worse and the dealer that sold me the car a few weeks ago says there are no recalls from Honda on this. I am having Honda corporate review the issue to see if this is covered under warrenty, but I still wanted to report this potential safety issue on 2019 Honda ridgelines NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 18V-221 MFR CAMPAIGN ID: T0T CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION: 2018 Pilot and Ridgeline Front Seat Frame Rivets Safety Recall RECALL DATE: 04/05/2018 RECALL STATUS: 17 Character VIN Required SUMMARY: American Honda Motor Co., inc. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2018 Pilot and Ridgeline vehicles. The driver and front passenger seats were assembled with improperly manufactured rivets used to secure the seat slide rail frame to the vehicle floor. SAFETY RISK: In the event of a crash, the rivets can break and allow the front seat(s) to separate from the vehicle floor, increasing the risk of injury to the seated occupant.

Power Train,Engine1 complaint

I have been to my Honda dealership four times for transmission issues and on the fourth trip to the dealer they were finally able to confirm the problem. My 2019 Ridgeline will kick/buck at about 27 miles per hour and will not shift into higher gears as I gain speed. When this occurs, my engine will operate at 4,000 RPM on the highway. There warning lamps when the transmission starts acting up. The some or all of the lamps will stay on for on or several days at a time and these include: Emission Systems Problem, Transmission Systems Problem and Blind Spot Info System Problem. My safety is at risk due to the fact the transmission does not shift and bucks and I cannot potentially accelerate in a normal manner which could lead to an accident. They have diagnosed the problem based on a computer code from the car to the service department. They say the part is on backorder and they do not know when it will be available. Could be up to six months. I have looked on the internet and have found many Ridgeline owners complaining of the same issue for the 2017-2019 model years. When I brought the car in for service the first two times I was under extended warranty and now they say I may not be covered because they could not detect it. I guess mechanics now rely on computers and do not accept the work of the owner as to the problems being experienced. The problem is the Pressure Control Valve Code # P0776
