The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.
When going a higher speed on freeway, steering “sticks” when on curves. This problem was recalled for 2023-2025 Honda CRV’s, but the same problem is happening with 2022’s.
NHTSA #11743515
The steering system made clicking noises and while turning would lock up. I took this to Honda, and they replaced the steering rack. This was extremely unsafe, especially at higher speeds. I did not feel safe driving this vehicle with the steering system failing. This VIN was not included in a Honda recall for the steering system and the steering system failed. The cost of repair was $3400.00. Honda agreed to pay approximately $1100.00.
NHTSA #11742316
We are experiencing the dangerous 'Sticky/Notchy' electric power steering (EPS) conditions in our 2022 Honda CR-V, identical to the symptoms described in NHTSA Recall 24V-744. The steering wheel momentarily binds or sticks, particularly at highway speeds and when attempting to complete or recover from a turn. It requires noticeable extra physical effort to 'break' the wheel free from this sticky center point, which frequently causes the vehicle to momentarily jerk or overcorrect. The issue has become progressively worse with the onset of warmer summer weather. Our independent mechanic verified the issue but confirmed our specific 2022 VIN falls just outside the current recall parameters. Because the 2022 CR-V shares similar EPS components and exhibits the exact manufacturing defect, safety risk, and component degradation as the 2023–2025 models, the NHTSA should expand the recall population to include these earlier production dates before a serious incident occurs.
NHTSA #11741291
Steering wheel was sticking. Adjustments to stay in a straight line were difficult and imprecise. An existing recall on this exact issue did not include my vehicle. Although, Honda covered 80% of the steering repair, I had to pay $888 to have the steering repair and 4 wheel alignment done. I assert that the recall should include my vehicle and be reimbursed for the money I paid.
NHTSA #11745039
My 2022 Honda CRV is experiencing a "STICKY or CATCHING" steering wheel under normal driving conditions. The vehicle will not self-correct to the center unless some manual effort is attempted. (Especially when re-centering from a left-hand curve). The issue has become increasingly more pronounced over time. It became apparent that this was a design flaw once I began to investigate the problem online. Apparently, Honda has issued a recall for the problem in the 2023-2024 model years. (Over 1.7 million vehicles) However, I am experiencing the exact symptoms in my 2022 CRV. I greatly fear in driving the vehicle, we may attempt to OVER-CORRECT the steering and cause a potential accident or worse. I am reaching out to my local Honda dealership this week to seek advice. I wanted to register my concern with the NHTSA first. Thank you for your consideration of my serious concern.
NHTSA #11739829
The contact stated that while driving the steering wheel became hard to steer. The dealer was contacted but the issue could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 25,012.
NHTSA #11739291
Steering is ‘sticky’ at highway speeds, doesnt hold on center, steering wheel gives impression of being stuck.
NHTSA #11738119
Steering wheel sticks moving wheel left or right while driving allowing over correction and dangerous situations. No lamps. Mechanical. Same issue for 23-25 models with recall. Yes it's available for inspection. No professional has confirmed it yet because frankly , I shouldn't have to pay for this , but I need to take it in this week. The 'incident' occurred the last week and a half , but the website only allows me to choose one day. note. Problem is getting worse.
NHTSA #11736886
My steering wheel has been sticking and it can be very scary when it happens. The Honda dealership just quoted us 4,700 to replace the steering rack. We bought our car brand new, no issues or accidents, and only has 44,000 miles. Upon research this exact problem is a big issue with similar year / makes and models but our specific VIN has no recall for this. Very upsetting.
NHTSA #11736783
While driving, the steering can stick momentarily and cause a jerking of the steering wheel. When taking the vehicle to the Honda dealer, the recall for this issue only covers 23-25 cr-v vehicles and since there are no warning lights or codes for it, their recommendation is to drive the vehicle until it gets worse. The jerking of the wheel can cause loss of control and makes the vehicle a hazard.
NHTSA #11733518
Steering seems to feel "sticky" while driving on highways straight. Steering wheel seems to stay in place until I tug just a little on wheel to bring the wheel to correct position
NHTSA #11731773
When driving long distance (car is warmed up), and taking a left turn or a left curve on freeway, the steering wheel sticks, and does not return to center. When doing it manually, there is a popping sound before it returns to center. Its the same thing when taking the car out of parking lot after it is standing there overnight. This is not the first time this happened, as it has happened many times before but we assumed it is the tires going bad.
NHTSA #11731098
When I am driving at highway speeds, my steering wheel sticks. I can't make small, smooth adjustments. The steering wheel pops loose and then over corrects. I have noticed this a little bit in the past, but lately it has gotten worse.
NHTSA #11730310
Notice the steering seems to be sticking on slight movement of the steering wheel. Later noticed clicking notice associated with the sticking. When making turning the sticking and notice seem to get louder. Steering wheel feels like something is loose.
NHTSA #11739771
Sticky Steering. Some over correction needed.
NHTSA #11740463
2022 Honda CRV with 39,000 miles: When driving at high speeds (55+) when coming out of a turn/curve in the road, the steering wheel sticks/grabs for a split second, then releases, making steering seem unsafe. Issue seems more likely to happen in warmer temperatures 60 degrees and above. Also gets worse if car is driven for longer time. Since first noticing the issue in early April, now sometimes even going straight, the wheel will grab and steering has to be corrected. No warning lights have come on. The dealer said it is the steering rack.
NHTSA #11729943
Difficulties with steering for a month, progressively getting worse and did not present dashboard warnings. A grabbing sensation and clicking noise occurs in steering wheel while turning when driving both high and slow speeds. Certified dealer service center able to replicate the problem. They provided me with a copy of a service Bulletin issued in September 2024 on the problem but stated there’s no active recall for my VIN and thus would cost $4700. I had to sign off releasing them of any liability before driving away as I chose not to get the costly repair at this time. Was told to drive it as little as possible The car is fairly new and only 86k in mileage. There are various documented sources for a similar problem that qualifies as a recall for several other models including mine but a different year. This is clearly a safety concern leaving the consumer with a hefty repair cost just to feel safe.
NHTSA #11730420
We are experiencing “sticky steering” issue that has been recalled in 2023-2025 Honda CRV yet ours does not seem to have a recall at this time. Driving down the highway on curves car needs to be pulled back as it does not go back to neutral on it’s own This issue affects our safety as well as our passengers and other vehicles around us.
NHTSA #11734006
I have experienced all of the following: "Sticky" Steering: A momentary feeling that the steering wheel catches or sticks when trying to turn it, often requiring extra force to break it loose, Notchy or Jerky Feel: When breaking through the sticky point, the car may jerk slightly, Abnormal Noises: You may hear clicking, grinding, or rubbing noises coming from the front of the vehicle when turning and Increased Effort: It becomes noticeably harder or stiffer to turn the steering wheel. There are no issues when driving straight but when I turn the wheel, into a curve or exiting or entering a ramp for example the wheel can stick and I have to apply additional force to complete the turn. I have also experienced a notch or jerky when completing wider turns, the steering seems to stick in muliple places while the turn is being made. There is also a clicking or popping sound that occurs at each sticking point. There have been no warning lights and I have tried turning on and off all the various lane assist features thinking that the issue was with the technology. Family members have verified these issues but I just found out about this issue after searching on the internet and checking to see that my vehicle was not included even though many of the searches said 2022 was included. If I can get my dealership to look at this issue or another professional I will make an additional complaint.
NHTSA #11743374
I bought this vehicle CPO at a Honda dealer. A pronouced steering issue arose with long banked curves as I drove home that was not evident with straight driving during my test drive. The dealer at first replaced the stabilizer bars but the issue of catching and noise persisted. Upon talking to my son, I learned of the recall associated with the vary same symptoms with Hondas however my year was not included in the recall. The dealership gave me a loaner while it took over 3 weeks to get and install the replacement steering rack. The vehicle no longer has any mechanical issues. I believe the recall years on this issue should be expanded to include 2022 CRVs.
NHTSA #11744896
2022 Honda CRV with 12500 miles on the odometer has Rack and Pinion problems. Dealer indicates internal wear. There is a recall # 24V-744 which may apply. Dealer vehicle service was prepared on March 23, 2026
NHTSA #11726484
Vehicle has 48283 miles with a failing eps. Dealer stated that it’s out of warranty due to mileage stating that I would have to pay for a new one. Even with the mass recall they said they can’t do anything. Popping noises occurred a little over a year ago and was diagnosed as tire cupping and that it needed tires to fix the noises.
NHTSA #11731652
My steering wheel feel "sticky" and "popping" when turning it. It does this sitting still and while driving around curves/turns and also driving straight. The steering used to be smooth in my 2022 CRV Honda and now everytime it does this weird sticky and popping move and sound. Please help me as this is a safety hazard concern . I bought my car "new" at South Pointe Honda dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I always take it to the dealership for maintenance. I have 2 more Honda cars (different year models) and I have never had this problem before. I have seen there is a recall for this issue on the 2023 CRV models, and I request this recall includes the 2022 CRV models as well. I appreciate in advance your help and prompt attention to this matter.
NHTSA #11726204
Steering is sticky (resistant as though in a notch) when turning the steering wheel to the right or left beyond 30 degrees at highway speeds, or beyond 90 degrees at parking speeds. Issue seems more prevalent when turning left than right. Lane keep assist is off at all times. The steering system issue is a safety concern, as loss of control at highway speeds could cause a crash. Diagnostic by local Honda service center would cost ~$199. Was told by service consultant that a steering system repair (if necessary) would not be covered by warranty. Have not taken to non-Honda service center for inspection, estimate, or repair yet. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem. As the vehicle is driven during a trip, the problem becomes worse.
NHTSA #11725188
Summary: Honda CRV 2022 1.5L turbo - Sticky Steering. The steering wheel is sticky and needs extra force to stabilize the vehicle on road this is a big safety hazard. I can clearly hear and feel the steering jam during rotation.
NHTSA #11730498
Experiencing reoccurring “sticky steering” when making left hands turns at highway speeds (as when taking off ramps). When the steering wheel is turned it will notch or stick at a certain point in its travel and not freely return to center. You have to apply a small amount of force to free it from the stuck position. If the wheel was to lock up when driving at high speed it could cause a significant safety issue. I have contacted Honda about the issue and I’m awaiting their response. I am aware there is a recall for 2023-25 CR-Vs for the same sticky steering issue. The problem I’m experiencing has not been inspected by anyone yet. No warning lamps or other symptoms were present prior or during the steering malfunction.
NHTSA #11721856
While driving, especially on the highway over the last few months, my steering has seemed to catch or stick to where you have to turn the wheel harder than you should have to in order to stay in the lane. It seems to be worse in warmer weather or on longer trips. Needless to say, both of these issues have created great safety concerns especially when trying to stay in my lane on a curve with a car next to me. After my husband did some research online he found out that there is already a recall (NHTSA Recall# 24V-744) for this "sticky steering" on the 22-25 Civic and 23-25 Honda CRV, HRV, and Acura Integra. I called the dealership and they said that although they know about this issue, since it is not under warranty, car has 60000 miles, and is not included in the recall, I would have to pay $120 for them to diagnose it. The serviceman recommended I fix it soon because it is a mechanical part that could fail causing a serious safety issue putting me and others on the road at risk. He said that I would have to pay the entire amount to fix it though since it is out of warranty and not included in the recall. Please encourage Honda to include the 2022 CRV in the recall!
NHTSA #11736198
The rack and pinion steering system failed. This was a definite safety issue, with vehicle being unsafe to drive. There were no warning messages but the steering itself was sticking and binding at travel speeds. This vehicle had 40525 miles at the time of repair and just fallen out of warranty.
NHTSA #11742089
Steering has seemed sticky since I bought car in July. On Jan. 30 after a 20 min drive on a freeway I entered a long sweeping right turn curve. During the turn the steering when jerked 3 times to the left. If there had been a car next to me, this would have caused a serious accident. Research shows this exact problem was under recall for the 2023-2024 Honda CRV's. Cause faulty EPS gear. Beaverton Honda was unable to replicate and denied our claim to replace. There were no warning lights. We believe this is the exact issue presented in the 2023-2024 recall- USDT investigation EA23003 and issues with 2022 Honda CRV should be included in the recall.
NHTSA #11724747
Abnormal sound when turning the steering wheel specially at stationary state. Notice that steering the wheel feels heavy.
NHTSA #11741064
I believe my 2022 CRV has the same issue as the 23 to 25 recall for the steering gearbox issue. My car steering wheel gets stuck and can be hard to turn and I’m worried about the safety for me and my family in my car. Please investigate this issue and I believe it should be extended to 2022 year model for recall. I see online other people with 2022 also face this issue. PLEASE HELP IM CONCERNED. Can Honda answer if the same parts and manufacturing process was used on 2022? I have noticed this more in the last year I have owned this vehicle.
NHTSA #11744000
When driving on highway the steering wheel sticks.
NHTSA #11705194
Reoccurring steering issue- After having the steering wheel rac & gear box replaced in April 2024 on my 2022 CRV (purchased brand new), the issue is reoccurring in Nov. 2025. . My 2022 CRV steering wheel sticks when driving on the interstate and doesn’t want to turn and is difficult to steer causing me to have to jerk the wheel and nearly wreck my car. The steering wheel also feels loose and spins around and round while at a stop. The steering wheel knocks/pops during a hard turns. Since this a wide spread issue well documented online, I would expect for there to be a recall - but there is not one on my 2022 CRV even though I have experienced the issue twice now. The dealership and Honda Corp is agreeing to pay a large portion of the $3000+ bill but I am still stuck paying nearly $200 for a defect that should be covered fully due to obvious manufacturing defects in the part. The car is 3 years old and has had the steering wheel rac replaced twice! Ridiculous!!!
NHTSA #11705796
The steering sticks and makes a noise intermittently when turning the steering wheel. You cannot count on a smooth turn when turning. The dealership verified this and said the steering gear had to be replaced. While there are countless Honda CRV complaints about this, on several model years, including mine ,and a recall on some of the VIN's, my VIN was not included. Honda recall would not help with this issue. Had to pay to have the dealership replace the steering gear, at a "discounted rate of $1444.25. My vehicle only has 19, 497 miles on it.
NHTSA #11694144
When driving, there is a popping noise and the steering wheel is very sticky. Not all the time and more noticeable at lower speeds. Sometimes I have to slightly jerk the wheel to get it to respond. This does not seem safe. I took it to my local Honda dealer who said I needed a steering rack replacement and that I should contact Honda Corp. because that shouldn't happen in a 2022 CRV. There is a similar recall for other year models but not the 2022. Honda agreed to only pay a small portion (less than 25%) of the cost but the rest is on me. Issue began couple weeks after my 3 year warranty was up.
NHTSA #11700407
The steering seems to get a sticky feel after driving for a while. The steering wheel will get a sticky feel while a slight turn in the road and it will happen either turning left or right. Then on the highway it seems to happen so you can't keep the car going straight.
NHTSA #11688735
The steering on my vehicle gets stuck while driving. There is resistance to turning the steering wheel. This is much worse when the AC is running. Honda looked at my car last year and said they did not detect the problem. I know it is real though as I have since seen that many 2022 CRVs have been recalled for this problem. My VIN however was not included so I guess safety is not a priority for Honda. Disappointing. I will not buy another car from Honda.
NHTSA #11677021
Steering wheel is making a sticking noise. This could become very dangerous. My dealer says my rack and pinion needs to be replaced at a cost of $4,000 The vehicle component has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were and are no signs or warnings of the issue.
NHTSA #11677301
At low speeds and at high speeds steering feels sticky not fluid. Sometimes it feels like I have to tug a bit to move the steering wheel. On a long trip this gets to be a nuisance and I feel it makes me overcorrect when steering.
NHTSA #11677944
The steering sticks while driving and turning.
NHTSA #11687239
My car quickly became unable to be driven safely when the steering started to fail. It started with a feeling of the tires sticking to the road when trying to make small adjustments to position with the steering wheel. I was not able to maintain a straight line drive without the constant small jerks associated with the sticky feeling. The steering quickly deteriorated to the point of barely being able to keep the car on the road because of the inability to steer. The issue was confirmed by the dealer and the driveshaft components replaced, at my expense. I was told that there is a known defect in the 2022 CRV hybrids but my VIN was not included in the recall for some reason. There were no warning lamps or messages during the failure.
NHTSA #11678979
The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an abnormal ticking sound. In addition, the contact stated that the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The contact stated that the steering wheel was hard to turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed rear differential. The contact was informed that there was an unknown open recall for the rear differential. The vehicle was repaired. The failure reoccurred. The contact stated while making a turn, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. In addition, the contact noticed an abnormal ticking sound. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed steering gear box. The contact was informed that the steering gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description, however the contact's VIN was not associated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 29,834.
NHTSA #11736317
After driving about 4 hours on the highway, I noticed my steering wheel started to stick if I turned it to the left at all, and there was a groaning sound coming from the wheel well. Steering issues could directly affect my safety and those around me on the road. I took it into Honda, and they said it was my steering gear box, and that it needed to be replaced. It seems there was a recall associated with Honda steering gear boxes in 2024, but they said my issue wasn’t related to that and they wouldn’t cover the cost. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
NHTSA #11670230
The steering of the car sticks during continuous turns when the car has been driving for a significant amount of time (over 15 minutes). This problem started out as slight sticking when making large turns on the highway but has become increasingly more noticeable especially on lower speed roads and turns. My VIN number is not connected to a recall however this issue seems to be the same as a recall for Honda CR-Vs from 2022-2024. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealership or service center and no warning lamps are on in the car.
NHTSA #11666374
2022 Honda CR-V: When driving, either local speed or highway speed, the steering sticks on slight turns. At first, this was very subtle, but now is more prominent and just recently, I can hear a clicking sound or noise whenever I move my steering wheel. I am afraid that steering will fail or "stick" and not come out of it causing an accident. I am also concerned that I could overcorrect. I feel this is definitely a safety issue. I brought it to my dealer but they said it would be a $195 diagnostic charge. I see many complaints for this issue and wonder why Honda has not issued a recall. The dealership is aware of my concern and issue but I just fell out of warranty based on time as I have now owned the vehicle 3 years.
NHTSA #11665829
This is a current recall for the 2023 CRV but my 2022 CRV is having the same issue of sticking when I turn left. This needs to be a recall issue.
NHTSA #11670540
2022 Honda CR-V: When driving, especially highway speed, the steering sticks on slight turns. At first, this was very subtle, but now is more prominent and just recently, I can hear a clicking sound. Afraid that I am going to overcorrect on a highway. There are no warning lights. I do feel it is a safety issue. The dealer where I purchased has made an appointment and I can drop it off, but the first available date for them to look at it is 2 weeks. Because it is not safe to drive, I will have to get a rental which will cost me $900. The dealership is familiar with this issue but confirmed it is not a recall. However, I am under 36K miles.
NHTSA #11664777
Steering catches when turning like it gets stuck. I will have to apply extra pressure to come out of a turn. That is becoming dangerous because the extra pressure in opposite turning direction can cause over correcting too much too fast. I am only reporting because I see that 2022 CRVs were included in a steering recall. But not my VIN though it was a MY reported. I am handy DIY and replaced steering linkages, gearboxes before. This vehicle displays the symptom reported in the recall. I am wondering why HONDA didn't include ALL 2022 MY vehicles.
NHTSA #11664149
Auto was purchased several months ago from CarMax. Initial test drive was fine. Started noticing steering was sticky and made a noise like a soft click as I turned the steering wheel. More of a jerk left or right. Seems to be increasing with a little difficulty as I turn the steering wheel. Hard to describe. Reminds me of a go cart I once drove. Not smooth as you would expect. I have not taken to a dealer for review. My concern is will the steering some how give way or not respond when I try to turn. The car is certainly available for someone to check out, drive and see exactly what I am describing. I have not taken to a dealer but will be glad to do so. After some review of recalls I did notice some vehicles have been recalled for a similar problem but did not see my vehicle on the list. Thanks for your time.
NHTSA #11662914
Sticky steering with mild clicking noise. Started within past few weeks. While turning the wheel there is a slight resistance and the a release, which could get worse and potentially cause steering issue. Reported to local Honda Dealer and quoted replacement of rack and pinion for over $4,000. Repetitive issues but not consistent. Noted other Honda models and years with same issue already under recall.
NHTSA #11668005
I am experiencing a sticky steering problem. I didn’t even realize there is recall for other Honda crv but it looks like 2022 is not even part of the recall but I am experiencing the exact same issue wheee steering is getting harder to do and the wheel seems to be stuck and unwilling to turn.
NHTSA #11658834
I started experiencing the 'sticky steering' issue about 3 weeks ago. I thought it could be low power steering fluid, and after a quick research I came to know that new CRVs use EPAS instead. After some research I found that 'sticky steering' is a known issue and there is a TSB and recall by honda. I checked the recall using my VIN, abd came to know that my CRV wasn't listead for that recall. I called honda customer service at 8009991009 and they confirned that the recall exists for 2022 Honda CRV but my vehicle is not included. I asked how they can exclude my vehicle when I am experiencing the same issue, I was advised that the recall is based on certain production and parts origin. I was advised to go to a honda dealership and pay out-of-pocket. I asked if they can add my VIN to the recall list and they said no. The 'sticky steering' issue persists when i am steering right at about 45 and up mph. This is a serious safety hazard and I would like my vehicles VIN added to the recall.

NHTSA #11655305
When making a left hand turn, the steering hangs up when you attempt to straighten out the wheel. You have to pull the wheel hard to the right to get it past its hang up spot. It seems to happen when the vehicle has been driven a distance and the components have gotten warm. The dealer couldn't replicate the problem (because it was not warmed.) No warnings given by the vehicle sensors. The 2023 & 2024 CRV's have been recalled for this issue. The 2022 model has not been included.
NHTSA #11660504
This vehicle is affected by the same symptoms as the service bulletin 24-117 2023-2025 CRV with the "sticky steering" recall. After doing some homework, Honda clearly needs to expand the recall to include ALL affected vehicles, including 2019-2022 CRV. These are the EXACT sympoms my vehicle is experiencing and yet my VIN "isn't included". The problem has been happening since before the 23-25 model.
NHTSA #11653164
Steering will stick when turning and require additional force to correct. This is a safety hazard as steering could become stuck or result in overcorrection and leading to an accident.
NHTSA #11653242
At approximately 37,000 miles, the steering wheel developed a sticking issue. After researching the issue, we learned that Honda issued a recall involving the steering rack. Somehow, our VIN is not part of the recall. It falls under the years, and models, of the recall. This is a safety issue, especially at highway speeds. It appears to be the exact same issue as those on the recall. We have not yet had it officially diagnosed ($200 cost) and, a replacement would be $3,000-$4,000. Car now has 42,000 miles.
NHTSA #11672430
The recall for the Honda CRV is for 2023 thru 2025. 24-052. I am having the same "sticky" steering problems. The 2022 CRV's should be included in this recall.
NHTSA #11668071
At about 32,000 miles after making a 5 hour drive I noticed that the steering wheel was starting to stick on long curves. The steering wheel would not return to neutral when released but would hold in its turned position until forced back. The problem was intermittent and first and then became consistent. As it became consistent it would stick in the same way but also started roughly kicking back while turning and making lots of clicking noises when turning. This put my safety at risk because it could lead to a crash if I was unable to turn the wheel or release the wheel when needed. This problem has been recalled in other CRVs just not the 2022 but it is clearly the same issue that is happening in the major recall of the other cars. I brought the car to my dealer and they are replacing the steering rack.
NHTSA #11647885
When driving above 40 mph, in conditions above 45 degrees f. The steering is jumpy or sticky. It takes a larger input to steer the car. The steering wheel will jump about an inch. There is no way to steer between the area it jumped over. It leads to swerving down the highway. I went to the dealer concerning recalls on all other years and models. They said I did not qualify due to my vin number not being recalled. I think the steering is a safety issue.
NHTSA #11644444
While driving around curves including exit and on-ramps the steering wheel will stick momentarily then release causing car to jerk to the outside of the curve. It feels very dangerous and it is hard to predict when it will happen.
NHTSA #11656279
While driving the car i get a sticky steering sensation which requires additonal force to steer the vehicle. Also, while car is stationary and when i try to steer the vehicle completely left or right, i get the noise of clicking.

I am writing to formally report a concerning issue I’ve experienced with my vehicle's power steering system. The steering intermittently "sticks" or resists turning, requiring slight but deliberate manual force to free it while driving. This occurs unexpectedly and is especially noticeable when taking a slight curve at a lower-speed. The sticking sensation feels as if the steering wheel momentarily locks in place or becomes unusually resistant, which can compromise driver control and response time. While the resistance is not extreme, it is persistent and potentially hazardous, particularly in situations that require quick or precise steering input to avoid obstacles or maintain lane position. This issue raises significant safety concerns, and I believe it may indicate a defect in the power steering system—whether mechanical, electronic, or software-related. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter, as even minor delays or inconsistencies in steering performance could increase the risk of an accident. I have talked with a couple of local dealerships who acknowledge that they have seen this issue in the newer CR-Vs but no recalls have been issued. Vehicle Details: Make/Model: Honda CR-V Year: 2022 VIN: [XXX] Vehicle has never been involved in any wrecks or accidents. I would appreciate acknowledgment of this complaint and any information regarding known investigations, recalls, or technical service bulletins related to this issue. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds and attempting to steer the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the steering column. Additionally, while driving, added effort was needed to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Recently purchased a used 2022 honda crv. We t99k a trip to Denver and I noticed the steering wheel became "sticky" above 35mph. I had to be careful not to overcompensate. I read up on this problem and found out similar models from 22-24 are effected but there's no active recall. I haven't taken it to a dealer yet. Wanted to make the NHTSA aware my vehicle has a similar issue in hopes that something will be done that is not at my expense. The problem still persists since the original discovery. The vehicle has 43000 miles so it is no longer under warranty.

My steering has a "sticky" moment when I try to turn right. It happens after 20 min. drive and is worst on speed over 55 m/h on highway when is difficult to keep the car in lane. I went to Honda dealer 2 times, but because there is no warning light on dash board, they were not concern. They tested my car on back roads on slow speed and when the engine was cold, no more than 5 min. They didn't reproduce the condition when this "sticky steering" happens on my car. This problem happened in my first year of lease after 10,000 miles when it was just a light sticking when turn right. Now after 22,000 miles the problem is worst even a noise as "crack" comes some times from my front wheels. Dealer told 'me they can't do anything until a recall is coming or something happen to my car like a stuck steering. This is not normal to wait until I would have an accident because of power steering

While driving on a straight road at 35 mph the car suddenly and aggressively applied the brakes without driver input and without another car or obstacle in front of the car. Had there been a car behind me a rear collision would have been likely. The weather was sunny and there were deep shadows of trees cast on the road. This is the fourth time this has happened the past year. This is my first report to NHTSA.

I was driving at 10am today on a local road, about 35mph, with no car in front of me, nor behind me. I was the only car in the area. Suddenly both the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system and the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) were activated. I was concerned when it happened, not knowing if the car would come to a stop. I called my local Honda Dealer Service Department, asking if they could check it out. He said they could take it for a test drive to see if it would happen again. Since this was the only time it happened we agreed to wait to see if it happens again before bringing it in. Once home I searched the NHTSA database and discovered similar instances, and an open Investigation, EA24002. I wanted to be sure to add my incident to the others to help in finding a resolution.

On 4 seperate occasions I have had my collision avoidance system activate suddenly, with no warning. Immediately initiating braking with NO danger, no car, nothing in front of me. Twice going thru an intersection, twice crossing a security barrier at work. My dash gives the brake warning and within 5 seconds immediately brakes for nothing in front of me. It almost caused an accident with the car behind me twice. It has not been troubleshot by the dealer or mechanic. The dealer hasn't been responsive to past concerns about other problems with the infotainment system/display so im not expecting them to take this seriously. It also doesnt duplicate easily.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) independently activated the brakes without another vehicle being nearby. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and continue driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

There have been several times where my forward collision warning goes off when I am just driving along an open highway with no other vehicles nearby and no precipitation. In broad daylight. Another time, a car in front of me slammed on their brakes. There wasn't enough time for me to come to a complete stop, so I navigated my car to the shoulder (I was only going about 30 mph to begin with). However, while I was turning the steering wheel, the Automatic Emergency Braking system engaged, making it impossible for me to turn the steering wheel further. I missed the car in front of me by only and inch or two. If I would have hit that car, it would have been because the AEB system locked up my steering wheel and made it impossible to control my vehicle.
NHTSA #11654590
I was driving down a wide and straight road with no other cars anywhere around me. Suddenly, the automatic emergency braking system became activated and the car brakes came on for absolutely no reason. This could have caused a major accident if there was any traffic near me and is a very dangerous flaw in my car.
NHTSA #11621333
I was driving on a straight road (daylight, dry conditions) in my 2022 Honda CR-V (mid trim level) using my adaptive cruise control. The closest cars ahead of me, and in the periphery, were at least three quarters of a mile away. All of a sudden, the car, independent of me, SLAMMED on the brakes. Fortunately, this did not cause an accident, but 10 minutes earlier, when I was on a crowded interstate during rush hour, the result might have been very different. As I reflect on this incident, I realize that this has happened at least twice before. However, in those cases, I thought the front sensor had picked up a curved barricade or something. But no! Apparently the CR-V randomly slams on the brakes. Clearly this is a dangerous situation that needs to be resolved. Ideally there will be a recall within the next few months to replace whatever component is causing this problem to happen.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my concern regarding the windshield quality on my Honda CR-V. I recently purchased this vehicle and have already experienced three separate chips in the windshield caused by small rocks during normal driving conditions. I have owned several vehicles over the years including Honda SUV, and have encountered similar road conditions without experiencing this level of damage. The frequency with which the windshield has chipped has led me to question the durability and quality of the glass used in my Honda CR-V. While I understand that windshields can be damaged by road debris, it is concerning that a vehicle has sustained multiple chips in such a short period of time. This has resulted in inconvenience, concern about the windshield's long-term integrity, and the potential for costly repairs or replacement. I am requesting that Honda review this matter and advise whether there are any known issues regarding windshield durability for my vehicle. I would also appreciate any assistance or goodwill consideration Honda may be able to provide. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. While driving at a normal speed (55mph) on I-5 north in Bellingham, WA when the sunroof on my Honda CR-V imploded. It sounded like a very loud gunshot. The shock of the incident startled my passenger and I and I immediately began looking her over to see if there was any blood. I looked up and saw very small shards of glass falling through the sunroof and a large hole. It was fortunate those shards did not cause damage. I immediately closed the sunroof and exited the highway. There were no rocks in the car, very little glass entered the car and a large hole was in the sunroof. The dealer did not believe it was due to a glass defect, he felt that something large had hit the car. This was not possible- we were on a clear highway and there was no sign of anything in the car or on the sunroof that would explaijn the damage. I do not want other people to have this experience- it is frightening and could lead to accidents.

At the time of the incident: The temperature was approximately 65°F, eliminating thermal stress as a factor. There were no other vehicles nearby and no overhead obstructions. A Thule rooftop cargo carrier was mounted above the sunroof, providing a physical barrier that would have prevented any object from striking the glass. When I drive my car will slow down by itself about 10mph without me taking foot off acceleration. It’s very unsafe, as my car will randomly slow down, causing people to possibly rear end me, making me scared to drive it. My taillights were also flashing. Took it to Honda dealership and they told me nothing was wrong. The problem persisted so I told them I needed to bring it back. They told me they never got it to slow down for them, but the lights flashed. They told me it was the body control module and charged me almost $900. A month later it is STILL slowing down by itself randomly. No warning lights ever come on.

I purchased a brand new Honda CRV 2022 ,VIN [XXX] , on [XXX] in Herson's Honda Rockville Dealership, Maryland. Shortly after the purchase the navigation system started to malfunction creating putting me in a danger on the road. After 10 minutes of driving the map goes blurred then screen gets saturated, the map gets smeared. It creates unsafe driving experience. I have addressed this issue to the Honda service center several times in 2022 and 2023 separately and during each routine oil change. There was no successful solution so far. I feel very unsafe and discouraged to drive this car with this ongoing issue. Specially with the kids in the car. I had several situations of losing the control of direction while on the highway due to map getting unclear. In March and April 2024 I reached out to American Honda, they created a case, sent me a survey, sent me to the service center but did not provide any solution. There was no written solution by the side of American Honda, only phone calls advising this is a software issue with Apple and Android and told me to wait for the software update. It has been two years, no solution. This problem substantially impairs the car's value or use. I have only driven it 17,000.00 miles since I don't feel safe driving long distances in it. I live in a rural area about 10 miles south of Albany NY. I am retired and am not employed, so most of my driving is done in the daytime. However, last November I was driving home in the dark from a medical appointment. I encountered heavy wet snow as I left a suburban area (Glenmont, NY) where there are street lights on the main highway, [XXX]. My headlights were on and I could see fine UNTIL I left Glenmont, and entered my home area Selkirk, NY. I was still on [XXX], but Selkirk at this point only has street lights at main intersections. The snow had become wet and heavy and it was difficult to see. I realized my headlights WERE NOT ON in this extremely slippery, heavy snow which now was coming down more heavily. [XXX] is a 2-lane NYS highway which eventually turns into a 4-lane highway again with limited street lighting. I drove about 5 miles with the only lighting I had from the pickup truck which was in front of me. There is no place to safely turn off on [XXX] once I am in Selkirk. When I reached my turnoff from [XXX] I was again on a 2 lane, unlit road to my home for approximately 2 miles. How I got home safely was short of a miracle. My car was only a year old at this point. Two incidents where the Engine suddenly shut off. Incident 1 (August 4th): We had come to a complete stop at a traffic light. After a few seconds the engine shut off (we had Auto Start/Stop disabled), the dash and radio briefly stopped and then the dashboard's indicator lights lid up as they would before a car is started. We put the gear shift into Park and restarted the car. It started right away and we had no issues for 1 week. Incident 2 (August 11th): While pulling into our inclined driveway and almost stopped or just stopped, the Engine shut off again (this time Auto Start/Stop was active) and the car started to roll back. We applied the brakes, the car stopped. We put the gear shift into Park and restarted the car. The car restarted without problems. Subject: Safety Concern: Electronic System/BCM Failure – 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Vehicle Information: Year/Make/Model: 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid VIN: [XXX] ] Approximate Mileage: [45,200] Component: Electrical System / Body Control Module (BCM) Description of Incident: On [04/13/2026], my vehicle experienced a sudden and total failure of the Body Control Module (BCM). The vehicle’s security alarm began triggered randomly and could not be silenced or deactivated. Simultaneously, the key fobs became completely unresponsive, preventing me from locking, unlocking, or disarming the vehicle. Upon entering, the dashboard displayed a "Christmas Tree" effect with all warning lights illuminated (ABS, Brake, TPMS, etc.) accompanied by a persistent audible beep. Safety Risk: This failure creates a significant safety hazard. Because the key fob and locking systems failed, I was unable to secure the vehicle. Furthermore, the loss of communication between the BCM and other safety modules (like ABS and Traction Control) puts the driver at risk of losing critical safety features while in motion. Prior History: This issue is identical to the symptoms found in NHTSA Recall 20V771 (affecting 2018–2020 Honda models). It appears the defect persists in the 2022 CR-V Hybrid model year, yet no recall has been issued for this specific VIN range. I had driven may a mile and was turning right onto a street. As soon as I turned onto the street my car just stopped and would not move. I had no power -- I put my gas pedal all the way down and it would only inch along. I was so scared that I would get rear ended. I immediately put on my flashers and prayed no one would hit me. I finally inched my way into the grass. I kept trying to get power to my car but it would not get any power. I sat there for about a half hour and kept trying. I finally got enough power to be able to turn around and get back home. The next morning I went to start my car and it was a very very rough start to get it started. I decided then to take it to the Honda dealer. On my way to the Honda dealer, my car did the "lose power" again. I had to sit there for about 15 minutes before I finally had enough power. I "inched" my way to the dealer. They called and said it was the fuel injectors and that they needed to be replaced. My car is a 2022 with 56,000 miles on it. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN with that low of mileage. Honda has said this was not a covered repair even though I had no power to my vehicle. I did research and have found that there is a definite issue with the 2022 Honda CRV fuel injectors but they only have covered certain VIN numbers. My VIN number is not in that replacement -- which I don't understand. This should be a recall on ALL Honda 2022 CRV's. This is a very expensive repair and I feel Honda should cover the replacement of these fuel injectors.

I was driving on the highway and suddenly the gas engine turned off. I was only able to drive on battery power. Pushing the gas pedal only let me go 30 mph. The check engine light was flashing. I pulled over and shut off the car. When I restarted it worked fine. Check engine light was not on anymore. I took the car to the dealership and they could not find any stored codes or replicate the event. Looking online I see many cases of similar problems and Honda can never duplicate it. It is very frightening to be going full highway speed and suddenly loose power. [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Sticking steering, mainly at higher speeds. Dealer said it showed no codes. They said they could not make it do it, but it continued after inspection. I had another person drive and they noticed right off on the interstate that the steering was sticking and making vehicle shift across lane on its own. It does it all the time at any speed more noticeable higher speeds.

My vehicle has had a worsening issue with the steering wheel sticking, especially when driving on winding roads. It is most pronounced when the steering wheel is turned to the left. Instead of smoothly returning to center, the steering wheel sticks in the left position and has to be forced right to center or to turn back right. Obviously having steering that is stuck or that has to be forced can be dangerous, especially at highway speeds. It also sometimes makes a knocking sound when turned all the way to the left. I have not had the vehicle inspected yet, but I have contacted Honda and my local dealership about the issue and am able to bring the vehicle in for inspection. There have been no warning lamps, messages, or anything similar.

The vehicle automatically and suddenly slammed on the brakes when a deflated mylar balloon floated across my lane. It braked hard for several seconds then released the brakes as the balloon cleared my lane. I felt like I had no control of the vehicle until the brakes released. The car following closely behind me could have hit me, since there was no apparent reason to brake. I have been unable to reach a service advisor at my dealership to report it. The vehicle has not been inspected since this incident. There were no warnings prior to the incident.

The automatic braking system is repeatedly braking inappropriately, with nothing in front of us or in the road. We have not gotten into an accident yet but have come close twice. The Honda dealership in Elk Grove, CA acted like this was normal and it “could be a leaf or pebble” and there’s nothing they can fix because it’s normal. This is not normal. It’s dangerous.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V equipped with Continental Tires, Tire Line: Cross Contact, Tire Size: 235/55/R19, DOT Number: HWE7WC8K1722. The contact stated that there was a round dot on the front passenger’s side tire. Upon closer inspection, the tire displayed a crack and a large groove along the sidewall, and the sidewall lettering was missing. The other three tires were manufactured by Continental but were a different tire line and showed no visible damage. The vehicle was taken to a tire center for inspection, where it was determined that the bead was broken and that the tire had been driven while flat. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, who informed the contact that two of the tires needed to be replaced. The tires were not replaced. The dealer confirmed that there was no warranty or recall coverage available for the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 17,463.

Hankook 235/60 R18 103H A few months ago, one of my Hankook tires had a flat tire. At the tire shop, I was told my 3 remaining tires would need replacement soon as well. My car's odometer at this time was roughly 21,000 miles. The tires are originally the tires from purchase of the new car. I then went to a Honda dealership for further inspection. I was told that my remaining 3 tires were in "yellow" status and could be replaced at a later service date. Today, May 3, 2025, I went to the Honda dealership to change my 3 remaining tires. Despite making an appointment, they didn't order the tires I had requested. So, I then went to another tire shop. Upon removing my tires, one of the employees called me over and told me I had a defective tire. My car is now around 23,500 miles. I don't know why the service center at the Honda dealership didn't alert me about the defective tire. I called Hankook when 1st tire had a flat. A representative told me that no warranty would cover this. The Honda dealership also told me that they couldn't assist with this. I needed to call the manufacturer or check my warranty.

Jumped battery with a jump pack then battery started smoking and leaking fluid. Had dealership tow and diagnose problem, replaced the battery. Two days later started car on a cold day and check engine light started flashing and car went into limp mode. Would not accelerate on the highway past 35 mph during heavy traffic leading to unsafe conditions. Drove to service center at the dealership while still flashing and not accelerating. My wife reported that as she was making a right turn, driving home in the rain, the radio screen slowly faded to black and then the dashboard went black as well. There was a loss of power but the car did not turn off. The vehicle is a hybrid and it appears that the car was running using the battery as after a short distance the radio screen and dashboard both came on. She does not know if the check engine came on. This is the first time this has happened. If it happens again then I will take the car to the dealership and have it checked out. I am reporting this as it seems that others have had similar issues but so far a common cause has not been found.

The above would not let me check ALL of the boxes. I’m having continued problems with my 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring, with every warning light on the car all of a sudden starts flashing and eventually the car looses complete power. This is the third time it has happened to me, and after taking it to two different Honda dealerships, no one can tell me what is going on, and then they send me back out on the road, only for it to happen again. Every warning light on the car lights up and every bell goes off. Yet, no one can tell me a thing! It’s resulted in me being stranded and the car inoperable.

If the car is parked outside on a day where temperatures exceed 95 degrees Fahrenheit, it causes the front sensor camera to malfunction. This is a common issue with CRVs and is heavily documented in online forums. The overheating results in the vehicle’s features dependent on the camera and sensors to malfunction, causing a serious driving safety issues. The car’s audible notification system also goes off, resulting in constant beeping chimes while driving the vehicle.

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I took my 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid to the dealership for a routine oil change. The service team told me that all systems showed the vehicle was in good condition. They advised me to return for my next oil change and regular maintenance. I did not drive anywhere on Thursday, November 27, which was Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 28, while driving to work on the highway, the engine warning light turned on and my car began to slow down. Pressing the accelerator did not help—the vehicle would not speed up and lost power while I was driving on the highway. This was a very stressful and unsafe situation. I had to pull over onto the shoulder with a line of cars behind me. My car was towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, I experienced a clear and serious problem. Not only did I miss work, but I also had to pay $238.95 for the towing service. After researching, I found there was a recall issued on December 18, 2023, for a fuel pump failure that can cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. However, this recall did not include the 2022 model year, which is the year of my vehicle. The recall describes exactly what happened to me. Honda should include the 2022 CR-V Hybrid in the recall and therefore; replace the fuel pump module at no cost to help ensure everyone’s safety.

I was on the highway going approximately 65mph for 10 minutes when my engine light turned on and began blinking. Immediately when it turned on I lost the ability to accelerate and had to go across 3 lanes of extremely busy and fast traffic to pull over onto the shoulder. Once I was on the shoulder, I shut my car off for 2 minutes and restarted it and the car worked as normal again. The initial incident occurred on October 4th, 2024, and it has happened again on November 29th, 2024. I do have an image of the engine light on that was taken on October 4th if that would be helpful at all. I've looked online to find out that other Honda CR-V Hybrid owners have had this issue with no fix provided from Honda at all. Their advice is to leave the car running and get it towed to a Honda dealership immediately, which can be extremely expensive depending on your distance to a dealership and sometimes not feasible if I'm on my way to my job and cannot call out "sick". I feel as though this is irresponsible of the dealership to put the onus on consumers, and is clearly a recall waiting to happen that they just haven't admitted to yet.

The issue involves the driver’s-side blind spot monitoring system. In my experience, the system does not recognize or alert me to vehicles approaching from behind in the adjacent lane until they are nearly even with the driver’s door. In many situations, the blind spot warning light does not illuminate while a vehicle is occupying what most drivers would reasonably consider the blind spot area. Instead, the alert often appears only after the vehicle is already alongside my vehicle. This creates a significant safety concern. The purpose of a blind spot monitoring system is to provide advance warning of vehicles approaching from behind before a lane change is initiated. When the system does not recognize a vehicle until it is already beside the driver’s door, the warning is delayed to the point that it provides limited practical value in helping prevent a collision. I have discussed this concern with Honda dealership personnel and have been advised that the system is operating as designed and that there is no repair, adjustment, or calibration available to improve its performance. While I appreciate their efforts, I find it concerning that a safety-related feature may be functioning exactly as intended while still failing to provide what I believe is adequate advance warning for drivers. As a driver, I would expect the system to provide earlier notification when another vehicle is occupying the adjacent lane and approaching from the rear.

This morning, around 9 AM, I was stopped on [XXX] in traffic, just south of [XXX] . [XXX] ) Foot on break, waiting for traffic to start moving. Engine suddenly revved to about 4k RPM. Car started to lurch a bit, I had to put increased pressure on the brake to hold it. I wasn’t sure the brake would hold, so I shifted to neutral, engine revved up over 4k. It settled back down and I was able to drive to the Honda dealer on [XXX] (less than a mile from where the incident occurred.) Left the car there to be worked on. Car was in the engine idle shutoff mode. I don’t recall if it started revving coming out of that mode, but I don’t think so since my foot would have been off the brake at that point. Other than the lurch that occurred while I was pressing hard on the brake, I didn’t move the car until after I had put it in neutral and it settled down. Then I put it in drive and moved forward. I don't recall any warning lamps or messages. No report yet from the Honda dealer [XXX] ), but I wanted to report this since this should never happen -- regardless of the root cause. While driving my 2022 Honda CRV at highway speeds and at operating temperature, the steering sticks and/or pauses then releases causing the steering to jerk back in the opposite direction. This creates a major safety issue while driving on the highway and can potentially cause an accident. Additionally, when turning the vehicle left at slow speeds, we would periodically hear a clicking noise. These problems began at the beginning of 2024 and have progressively gotten worse. Initial attempts to have Honda identify the problems failed as they could not replicate the problems at the time of diagnostics. During this time, our warranty expired. On May 20, 2026, we once again had the vehicle inspected by Pohanka Honda of Salisbury, MD for the same issues. This time the lead mechanic technician was able to replicate and pinpoint the problem. He noted the problem was the "Electrical Power Steering System Assembly and Gearbox Assembly", which contained the worm gear and worm wheel assembly. The dealership quoted us a price of $2,153.00 for parts, labor, and a full alignment, which is required during this type of repair. The service technician advised there are no current recalls to cover the cost of this repair. The Honda Corporation has suggested we apply for their “Goodwill Assistance Program”, to help cover cost for out-of-warranty repairs, but there was no guarantee that we would qualify for any monetary relief. We believe Honda Corporation is ignoring a major defect and safety issue regarding the electrical power steering assembly and gearbox, on older CRV models. This same part has been deemed as defective and a major safety issue on newer CRV models between 2023-2025 and has recalled those vehicles for repair. I believe the company should be required to recall all vehicles with the defective electrical power steering assembly and gearbox. Fortunately for us, Honda made the repair and covered the full cost through the Goodwill Assistance Program.

I am reporting a systemic safety fraud involving three critical points:1. INHERENT DEFECT & CRASH LINK: This vehicle has a pathological history of 6 transmission fluid changes starting from 308 miles and multiple alignment failures. There is strong suspicion of inherent defects in both the POWERTRAIN and REAR DRIVETRAIN/STEERING systems. These defects likely contributed to the previous owner's 5-side collision in May 2022. The record suggests a "Sudden Loss of Motive Power" and "Control Instability" risk existed from day one.2. RECALL MALPRACTICE (#23V-844): Despite the massive structural damage from the crash (bent hinges and frame misalignment), the dealer (Planet Honda) certified the fire-safety recall as complete in Dec 2024. Installing electrical recall parts on a compromised chassis violates federal safety standards and creates an unaddressed fire hazard.3. FRAUDULENT CPO RE-SALE: The dealer and manufacturer conspired to "launder" this known-accident vehicle back into the market via the CPO program, concealing the lethal combination of mechanical failure and structural instability from the next victim. The vehicle is currently mothballed due to these hazards. This matter is under active investigation by the (AID)Colorado Department of Revenue, Auto Industry Division (Case #[[XXX]). I petition NHTSA to audit the i-HDS diagnostic logs from the Dec 2024 recall to investigate this safety compliance fraud. We purchased this vehicle as a Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. I have included a copy of the 182-Point Inspection Checklist that I received when I/we purchased the vehicle. The issue is the weatherstripping on both sides of the middle row. The material does not fit the area and causes wind and weather to effect the interior of the vehivcle. We feel that this issue is a manufacturer defect and should have been detected/rectified during that 182-Point Inspection. My wife and myself are the only user of the vehicle and we never have a reason to sit in the middle row. Per chance, our daughter's dog was in the middle row and when I turned to check on him, I noticed that weatherstripping issue. Upon reaching home, I further noticed that the issue existed on both the passenger and driver side - middle row doors. I also found a Technical Information & Support Group bulletin addressed to "All Honda Service Managers/Advisors", "RE: Request for Parts: 2023-2024 Accord & CR-V Rear Door Weatherstrip". I realize this bulletin does not address my year vehicle but wanted to bring to light that this seems to be an issue that is prevalent on the CR-V. We notified the dealer who inspected and confirmed that the issue exists but were told that because the care is not longer under original warranty, the repair would cost us $600+. We have since notified American Honda USA under the extended warranty we purchased and feel that they are dragging their feet on this issue. I received a call from American Honda USA and agreed to a settlement to have the issue resolved at the dealer where we bought the vehicle for a total out-of-pocket to me of $200 + taxes. I was supposed to get a call from the dealer to schedule the repair but nothing. I contacted Honda America once again and am being told it is being looked into.

As I was backing out of a driveway the car suddenly accelerated in reverse. The brake did not stop or slow the vehicle. As a result the car's right fender hit a large oak tree. There was damage to the fender, the door and to the undercarriage. In addition, my wife who was sitting in the passenger seat was thrown back and she struck her head on the top seat belt connection. She had a cut in the back of her head that required an emergency room visit to the local hiospital. They did a CAT scan and they used seven staples close the wound. There were several messages flashed on the dash that indicated brake and cruise control issues. These messages wer of very short duration and could not be recazlled.

While driving at highway speeds (60-70 MPH), vehicle showed blinking check engine light, indicating a misfire. Pressing the gas pedal did not provide power to the wheels, though the engine was still running and revved up. My safety and that of those around me was in danger due to my inability to continue to maintain speed. I had to coast while pulling over to the side of a freeway. I turned the car off and turned it on and the issue appeared to resolve itself with no light on the dash. Took the vehicle to an independent service center, who would not look at the vehicle since the error code would not show from a cleared code. Told me to hope it was a 1 time issue and to stop back by with the light blinking. However, this will not be possible since I get no acceleration when the issue persists. The issue has not been reproduced, nor do I intend to attempt to reproduce it due to the safety issues involved with losing the ability to accelerate while traveling at high speeds on the freeway.

It happened twice so far, while driving on the Highway, suddenly the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal and the car started losing speed meanwhile the warning lights flashes on the dashboard., In a panic we had to cruise to park on the highways shoulder. shut the car off thinking the car may have overheated or something, then restarted the engine and the dashboard was very normal, we proceeded to drive cautiously to mechanic, the mechanic found no error code to lead him to any diagnoses. The car drives normally after each incident. we are very concerned that this event could happen in critical situation and cause accident or the faulty component may causing this issue may lead to other more serious power train trouble that will not be covered by warranty in the future. by searching online, we found too many owners have had the same experience but we solution was offered by Honda. We urge you to investigate and help owners to be safe on the roads.

My 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid began displaying multiple warning messages around February 2025: “Transmission System Problem,” “Blind Spot Info System Problem,” and “Emission System Problem.” The issue was eventually traced to incorrect transmission fluid used from the time of purchase. A diagnostic report confirmed widespread internal transmission damage (e.g., shift solenoids stuck, low fluid pressure, excessive clutch slippage). As the transmission failed, it overwhelmed the vehicle’s main computer (PCM), causing a breakdown in the F-CAN network and disabling connected safety systems like the blind spot monitoring and emissions modules. The drivability of the vehicle deteriorated rapidly—gear shifting became rough and unpredictable. The car began struggling to accelerate above 40 mph, especially during inclines or highway merges. This posed a safety risk not only to me but also to passengers and other drivers due to reduced control and system failures. I rely on this vehicle for work and have since had to limit driving to local roads only, avoiding highways entirely. The issue was confirmed by an independent service center. Diagnostic reports and dashboard photos were submitted to the manufacturer, but they have not accepted responsibility. Their representative acknowledged the symptoms but insisted it was the selling dealer’s issue. Meanwhile, the transmission continued to degrade. I believe this defect originated at the manufacturing or pre-delivery stage. The wrong fluid caused irreversible internal damage that has now jeopardized the vehicle's powertrain and safety systems. Despite reports, photos, and repeated communication, the manufacturer has delayed action, and the vehicle is now outside the powertrain warranty mileage due to this delay.

While steering and turning, the wheel continuously feels sticky and there is a clicking and squeaking sound when I begin to turn the wheel. It is available to inspect. This vehicle does not feel safe. I have had to turn the wheel with more effort when changing lanes on the highway causing overcorrection and the brake also slipped when I was braking before turning to get onto a major street. I have taken it to Firestone to get the brakes checked and for routine oil maintenance and a leak in the windshield reservoir. After the oil change, a Firestone service tech recommended maintenance and repairs including an alignment, new brake pads and rotors, so I took it back to Enterprise, the car dealership where I bought this vehicle on December 5, 2024. Enterprise reluctantly took it back to their service department and checked the vehicle's steering and brakes, denying there was anything wrong with either. The manager at Enterprise stated that the sound I was hearing was normal wear and tear on the vehicle but I am still hearing the clicking and squeaking sound and when I turn the wheel it still feels sticky. There have been no warning lights flashing on the dash, but again, the wheel continuously feels sticky, and I have to overcorrect my turns. There is also a clicking and squeaking sound when I turn the wheel.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. As a result, the contact briefly lost control of the vehicle, only coming to a complete stop after colliding with a tree. The air bags did deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard pending a determination from the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, but no injuries were reported. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000.
