The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Electrical System17 complaints

Vehicle keeps going into "Battery Saver Mode" and having 12-volt battery not maintaining charge. When the battery gets low, the vehicle beings having various electrical system glitches and drivability issues. This is a well-known issue with Ford Maverick Hybrid trucks and Ford is not fixing the problem. Ford changed the 12 volt battery in the 2025 and 2026 Maverick Hybrids to an AGM design due to this issue.

NHTSA #11713834

AFTER ABOUT 10 MONTHS AFTER BUYING THIS HYBRID TRUCK, THE 12V BATTERY WAS NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. I STARTED TO RECEIVE EMAILS ON MY PHONE FROM THE TRUCK STATING IT WAS GOING INTO "SLEEP MODE" AND TO DRIVE THE TRUCK TO MAINTAIN THE CHARGE. I DID THIS FOR 45 MINUTES AT 60 MPH. IT APEARED TO CHARGE BUT DID NOT LAST MORE THAN A COUPLE OF DAYS. I DROVE THE TRUCK FROM SOUTH CAROLINA TO OHIO. I WAS IN OHIO FOR 10 DAYS AND DROVE ABOUT 750 MILES AND THEN BACK TO SC WITH NO PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, AFTER 4 WEEKS, I STARTED GETTING THE SAME EMAILS. I AGAIN DROVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES AT 60 MPH. THIS TIME IT DID NOT CHARGE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND MANY OWNERS OF THIS TRUCK WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THIS TRUCK TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM OF THE BATTERY WAS NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. HE STATED THAT IT WAS A BAD BATTERY AND REPLACED IT (01-19-2026). HOWEVER, THE WORK ORDER STATED THAT THE TRUCK WAS "SLOW TO START" - - - NOT THAT THE BATTERY WAS NOT CHARGING. I DID NOT QUESTION HIM, BECAUSE I WAS HAPPY TO GET A NEW BATTERY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. LATER, I BECAME CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM MAY NOT ACTULLY BE FIXED. MY CONCERNS: 1) WHY THE WORK ORDER DID NOT EXPRESS THE PROBLEM; 2) IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND LEAVE ME STRANDED; 3) WHY ARE SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

On the Maverick hybrids there has been a battery issue since they first came out in Dec. '21. I first had a 2022 hybrid and would get the message "vehicle is in battery saver mode" frequently. When this would happen I would have no interior lights when I opened the doors and could not start the vehicle or check any information, tire pressure, fuel, etc through my phone app. So charge battery and drive and the message goes away. The dealer did replace the battery once since it was defective. I kept that truck for 26 months and then purchased a 2024 Maverick hybrid in Feb '24 thinking this issue would be resolved. Nope, issue was worse if anything. Started getting the same issue in just a few months. Dealer checked and replaced a defective battery in October 2024. Within 5 weeks started getting the same issues again. Dealer said battery checks good. There seems to be either a parasitic drain on the battery, a software issue regarding the charging of the battery or completely defective flooded batteries. In April 2025 Ford must have realized a problem because they started installing an AGM in the factory on the hybrids. they also issued SSM 53801 which was a software update on the A?C module that could be causing a parasitic drain. I had that done TWICE. Still have the same issue. The dealer says they can find nothing wrong and says I just need to drive my vehicle more, keep it on a battery maintainer and carry a power pack to jump start in case it doesn't start. I have been on a website [XXX] since July 2021 and this has been overwhelmingly the number one complaint about the Maverick hybrid. Ford was supposed to have had a recall in the first quarter for a software update to deal with a deeper charge of the battery but that never happened. We imply that the government step in and have Ford do a recall to replace all the defective flooded batteries with the AGM that they are now installing on the 2025's and/or do the software update promised. The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that the 12-Volt battery had been charged; however, the contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 16,148.

NHTSA #11661951

Reverse image is freezing, even after the truck’s recall was addressed by a local Ford dealership. This is a safety issue and could potentially cost a life if someone is backing up and the reverse image freezes.

NHTSA #11656234

My reverse camera was having intermittent issues consistent with the recall notice where it would freeze and not show a true representation of what was behind the vehicle while in reverse. I had the recall repair work done by my local dealer for the reverse camera and the problem has not been fully resolved. The framerate on the reverse camera is still inconsistent, and the problem has not been fixed entirely. It does not give me confidence that the screen will not freeze again in the future. It appears that the software update put out by Ford does not solve the problem, in my case it made the problem appear differently, but it did not resolve the safety issue. Every time I reverse in my truck, it puts my and others safety in jeopardy. If the reverse camera ever freezes, there is no indication that it has done so. This is problematic if I were in reverse while not moving, and the camera froze with a clear path behind me. If a pedestrian, cyclist, or other vehicle moved into the path of my vehicle while the screen remained frozen and I began to reverse, it is likely that I could back into them without any indication they were there. This is worse than having no reverse camera, as it gives a false sense of security that it is safe to proceed when it may not actually be. It appears that Ford has attempted to solve a hardware issue with a software patch that is insufficient to fix the issue with the freezing reverse camera image, though the true cause is unknown to me. It is unacceptable that after having the problem 'fixed' by an approved dealer the reverse camera is still not acting properly.

NHTSA #11656326

My 24 Ford Maverick Hybrid goes into deep sleep so it will not start after sitting for a few days,i have to run a battery tender or battery goes below a certain voltage number and it then goes into deep sleep.Been to dealer twice for same problem they charge the battery and they say it past's Ford's test but you don't drive a few days and goes back into sleep mode unable to start or drive vehicle. I do not drive vehicle everyday but you can not rely on it to work if sitting for a few days to a week.My sales person said Ford is suppose to have a fix first quarter of 2025 but not sure this will happen i hope like hell it does.Been trying to get Ford to replace the battery under warranty so far no luck, but they still need to fix the charging system or get a fix to maintain battery s it does not go dead and leave owner's stranded.

NHTSA #11637778

12 volt battery systems drains power while in the off position making the cab unsafe because no lighting is available when the truck goes into deep sleep mode (this is caused by the battery drain). This occurs frequently. Lighting the cab is a safety feature in my opinion.

NHTSA #11639811

Orignial battery was dead after 60 days of ownership. Vehicle would not start and had to be jump started. Vehicle driven to dealership and battery was replaced.

NHTSA #11643074

VEHICLE KEEPS GOING INTO " DEEP SLEEP" MODE. Can ot start and can not get into the vehicle. Requires a jump start and you are left stranded anywhere. Ford told me they are aware of this issue in the hybrid but their engineering department has NO solution. You can be left stranded in unsafe or dangerours places. I bought the vehicle in march 2024, new, so that at 74 years old Iv would have a reliable and safe vehicle.

NHTSA #11632376

I have a 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid with only 1880 miles on it and every 3 days the battery drains from 99% down to 39%. I keep getting the Deep Sleep messages and the dealer refuses to replace the battery. I even got a message saying to drive the vehicle on a day when the vehicle was at the dealer and had been started and driven 6xs that day. Ford released a communications to Service depts but not a fix. Their solution is for the consumer to take their truck to the dealer every 3 days instead of replacing a bad battery. I took truck to dealer 12/31/24, 1/2/25, 1/6/25, and called 1/9/25. First time tech said battery test at 99% then on [XXX] when it was at 39% and he saw the "Drive the vehicle" messages, he started to believe me. Ford needs to fix this because after the 4th time taking it to the dealer and not getting it fixed, it will qualify as a Lemon in TX under the Lemon Law INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA #11635160

4 months after purchase my battery slowly went dead until I had to jump it. Taken in to Dealer 3 times before the first battery was replaced. They installed a higher CCA battery and after 2 months there are signs it is slowly being drained. In November when I first brought this in, I was told there is an SSM 53087, stating there is parasitic voltage draw when the truck is off. The fix for 2022 thru 2024 Mavericks will be coming the 1st quarter of 2025. Here we are and no fix. My dealership said don't worry about it your under warranty and there is no solution yet. But as long as you are under warranty we will replace your battery. I called Ford customer service today and there is still no fix. What happens if battery goes dead while I'm driving, it's a hybrid.

NHTSA #11652070

The vehicle goes into what they call a sleep mode. It shuts systems down to save the battery. At this point, it’s more of a nuisance than a major problem. Fortunately, every time I got in the vehicle, it started and was fine but what happens is it shuts down all the remote functions, you can’t use your app on the phone go to get in the car at night the interior lights aren’t working. It’s pitch black, just a inconvenience but Ford has no answer that answer was to shut down all the remote functions on the car to me that doesn’t make sense. Why have those features if you can’t use them?

NHTSA #11617091

12 volt battery not keeping a charge. Twice vehicle had to be jumped recently. The App reports Battery Saver mode 95% when parked. Dome lights don't work 80% of the time. Remote key fob won't open doors 10% of the time. Have to use key to unlock vehicle Taken to the dealer on 11/1. It stated, "Engineering is currently working on a fix for an intermittent battery draw. Disconnected and tested per SSM 53087. Battery passed. No repairs at this time". The problem has become worse as if battery won't hold a charge. Had to jump vehicle recently. Approximately 1 minutes after turning off the ignition, radio and driver display both say, System shutting down to save battery. I have scheduled a second appointment for 1/31 to see if battery is failing.

NHTSA #11638485

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while the vehicle was turned off and the doors were opened, the interior lights failed to illuminate. On another occasion, while the vehicle was parked for approximately four days, the doors were closed while in Sleep Mode, and none of the exterior lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery was not holding a charge, and the battery was replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred approximately a week later. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that a software update needed to be performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,475.

NHTSA #11632093

2024 Ford Maverick turned off and gave me a message across dash that said stop safely now. In pulling onto the shoulder was almost hit by traffic from behind. Vehicle would not restart and had to be towed. It took 2.5 weeks to get it repaired. They replaced the high voltage power inverter, one time use bolts, and the high voltage fuse.

I was driving my vehicle that was warmed up,about 5 miles from my house. I set the cruise control on 50 mph- the vehicle climbed an incline at 50, after the decline started the vehicle down shifted trying to keep 50 mph, but was still over by 3-5 mph. The road flattened out and The next thing i noticed was i was doing 42mph and the transmission was in neutral. I shifted back to drive and didnt use cruise control again that day 3/13/26. I have not notice anything else going on with transmission and have reused cruise control again without an issue. I called the dealer and they have not heard of this or have any technical service bulletins regarding this issues. I was quoted a diagnostic charge if i bring it in. I travel on some busier road and use cruise control often

On sept6,2025 while driving on highway at 65mph truck went into limp mode so you could not accelerate although trying to and the speed of the truck decreased. This vehicle was sold to me on [XXX]. It is in my possession. I am now learning that they are on a stop sale. The dealer did not communicate the fact they were not to sell it to me, it was through their lack of follow through on providing Ford points, and not following through with the ext warranty contract for parts written in on it for a dealer purchased and installed front lift / leveling kit that I discovered it was not to be sold, because of the recall 24V-684, and stop sale because of that. Per Ford points when I called their corporate office the truck is not listed as sold, which was confirmed by Ford corporate when I called to talk to them about the issue since I was not getting a response from them. The sales mngr did call me right as I was getting off the phone with them and did talk to me about the issues was going to look into them and call me back per our discussion on [XXX]. Edgar in financing did call me to tell me that the words Lift kit “were put on the extended warranty paperwork so that when I purchased and installed the lift/leveling kit it would be covered under warranty”. That was not our discussion and it was discussed they would buy and install the front lift / leveling kit. Upon completion of paperwork I said let me know when the parts come in so we can schedule the installation. I have no means of doing a alignment, and would not want to risk messing up my first new vehicle by doing that myself, new vehicles are way to complicated for me to work on. After going back and forth with Edgar about what was or wasn’t to be included in the financing, he said Bo could have the extended warranty canceled and prorated price refunded. The mileage on the truck that day was 2483.1. There is a no sale recall on the back up camera due to freezing but we were sold the vehicle by Freeway Ford in Bloomington, MN. While driving my hybrid Maverick on the interstate at approximately 75 mph, I accelerated to overtake another vehicle going up a slight hill (very slight). When it hit around 80mph, the power meter hit 100% and there was a momentary complete loss of power (peddle felt dead under foot) and vehicle started to decelerate. I let off the pedal and reapplied gently staying well below 50% power. The truck seemed to have less power for the remainder of the interstate drive but returned to normal after shutting off, restarting and driving again. A very dangerous situation on the interstate when you press the accelerator and change lanes to overtake someone only to start slowing down immediately. Have not visited dealership, vehicle has not been inspected by any third party, and no lamps messages or warnings on the dash or in the app.

This is the 3rd of 4th time this has happened since owning this truck. While driving at freeway speeds I would lose acceleration. I would step on the gas pedal and nothing would happen. This is a supplemental filing to my existing NHTSA complaint #11715308. I am requesting that the Office of Defects Investigation open a formal Preliminary Evaluation into the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid braking system. Since my original complaint, the following has occurred: Ford Motor Company denied my claim on April 2, 2026 through a three-sentence letter from a paralegal at Erskine Law PC in Michigan. The denial addressed none of the evidence submitted including repair orders, fault codes from Ford's own OASIS system, a recorded call proving warranty claim suppression, and a notarized sworn statement. The vehicle now has 107,982 miles. The ABS defect remains unrepaired after four attempts and over 50 days out of service. Active fault codes C052E and U0418 were confirmed in Ford's OASIS system when the vehicle was returned unrepaired on January 28, 2026. Ford has already issued Recall 25V787000 for brake booster ECU overheating causing loss of brake power assist in Maverick vehicles, demonstrating prior corporate knowledge of braking defects in this model line. There are currently 149 brake-related complaints in the NHTSA database for the 2024 Ford Maverick with no open ODI investigation. On [XXX], the braking defect caused a collision (APD Crash Report [XXX], no driver error assigned). I have a notarized sworn statement linking the collision to the unrepaired defect. I have concurrent active complaints with the NM Department of Justice (XXX), BBB AUTO LINE (XXX), FTC (#XXX), CFPB (#XXX), and Ford's internal SpeakUp ethics program (#XXX). I am formally requesting ODI review of the 2024 Maverick Hybrid braking system given the volume of complaints, the existing recall on related models, and Ford's documented refusal to repair my vehicle despite confirmed fault codes in their own diagnostic system. 6-18-25, driving at 20 mph in my neighborhood, applied brakes and pedal sank to the floor with no pressure. Pumped approximately six times with no pressure. On the last pump, I got severe juddering through the truck ( felt similar to an ABS activation) still no pedal pressure, but it did stop. Upon shutdown and restart, pedal was back to normal. Obvious safety issue as it would have caused a collision had I been on anything other than a quiet street. There were no warning lights on the dash and no fluid leaks. My wife and I purchased the NEW truck in May 2024. It now has 4970 miles and had our first issue Sept 10th. When we attempted to reverse out of the driveway, with the foot firmly on the brake and the start button engaged, the truck unexpectedly rolled out of the driveway. This alarming incident poses a significant safety risk, as the brake pedal was fully pressed, yet the truck was in motion. I drove back into the spot. Multiple check engine lights came on, and the ABS and parking brake faults were on. I called Ford and had it towed the next day. It is currently still in the Ford dealership shop. They gave us a rental car, thinking it was a faulty Electronic brake booster controller. Still waiting on ETR. My wife and I couldn't be more grateful that this happened in our driveway; this could have been a serious accident if it was to occur on the freeway.

NHTSA #11617042

New 2024 Ford Maverick. 12,000 miles. At around 10K miles, a factory recall regarding the firmware driving the brake light system was performed. This has 'broken' the factory installed trailer braking system that applies braking to an attached trailer with electric brakes. This is very dangerous, since failed trailer braking can cause a severe accident. The factory system shows alerts on the dash: when a trailer is electrically connected to the truck, the system responds with "Trailer connected". And now, that same message appears, but as soon as you apply brakes, either physically or by the factory system, an alert says, "Trailer disconnected". This never happened before the recall was performed. Also, If you connect the trailer and the system says "trailer connected", if you adjust the braking 'gain' in the cab of the truck, the system says "no trailer", and yet the other alert says "trailer connected". This is a computer firmware fault. This has been recorded by other owners online.

I purchased a 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid truck on [XXX] and have discovered a safety issue. When I operate the windshield washer, the washer fluid tank fully drains in about ten seconds. I can visually see the fluid level fall rapidly. Washer fluid sprays at a high velocity on my windshield until the tank is empty. There is no evidence of a fluid leak. Last week, I took the truck to a local Ford dealer. They were the ones who discovered the rapidly draining tank and they escorted me from the lounge area to the shop and showed it to me. Both the service writer and three mechanics standing at my truck stated that they had never seen anything like that occur before. The service writer brought over the service manager, who took a look and suggested that perhaps there was a problem with the nozzles. He also stated that he had never seen this issue before. The dealership ordered new nozzles. I returned to the dealership this afternoon to have the replacement nozzles installed. When the function of the windshield washer was tested, the bottle again drained in about ten seconds. One of the technicians then tested a new Ford F150 that is in the shop today and it also drained rapidly. I asked that a new Maverick on the lot be tested, which the dealership immediately did, and it also drained in about ten seconds. Evidently, Ford has an issue with this function on some of their new vehicles. Windshield washing is an important safety feature and it is not functioning as it should on these three tested vehicles. This problem was observed and verified as never having been seen before by a Ford service writer, three Ford mechanics, and a Ford service manager. After parking next to a gas pump to refuel, I twice pulled the hood-release handle on the left-side kick panel to check under-hood fluids. The gas pump did not accept my payment, so I drove to a second pump which also did not accept my payment. At this point I drove to a second gas station. As I approached 35 mph moving air suddenly caught the unlatched hood, then lifted and flipped it until it landed against the windshield. The hood severely obscured my view while the vehicle was still. Even so, I was able to peek under it enough to limp into a restaurant parking lot, where I stopped the vehicle and moved the hood back to its locked position. The hood latch mechanism does not incorporate a secondary safety hook designed for release while standing in front of the vehicle grill. Nor does the vehicle have an instrument cluster warning light or a DIC (driver information center) alert like it does for a passenger-compartment door not fully closed. Vehicle Speed Control3 complaints

I have a Maverick (24 AWD XLT) and this issue has occurred twice. It happened on my vehicle the first time as I was trying to turn left, up an incline, with oncoming traffic - loss of acceleration. There was simultaneously a service light and power train malfunction message that went to my ford app. The vehicle had 5k miles on it. I took it immediate to the dealer. After testing they said the connection at the accelerator was loose (pigtail) and replaced. I just had the same failure occur yesterday (~22k miles) on my way home from work, except I lost acceleration on an inclined on-ramp trying to merge onto the highway. I had just slowed on the ramp to let a semi pass, and am thankful I didn’t try to get ahead of it. It wouldn’t have ended well. Still, I could see traffic jamming behind me, and folks were struggling to get on the highway because of my significantly reduced speed. Losing control of acceleration at a point where it is critical is very dangerous. I’ve never experienced a vehicle failure that felt like it risked my life. For this to occur twice in key moments of acceleration, with less than 25k miles is unsettling. Online there are many similar reports, not sure how this isn’t a recall yet.

The vehicle was on “drive” mode but acted as it was in “neutral”. It didn’t want to move forward. This created a very dangerous situation on this busy avenue. I was stop in the middle of the road. I immediately manually moved the gear to “Parking" and then back to "Drive" and at this time the vehicle started moving normally again. I reported the incident to the dealer where I bought the car (Sheehy Ford of Warrenton) and they stated to me the following: “I do not find any diagnostic trouble codes stored through connected vehicle communication and did not see any relevant technical service bulletins or special service messages published that match your symptoms. I would be happy to set up a time for a diagnostic, or if you'd prefer to wait and see if it happens again just know we're here for you either way”. I responded that I will wait to see if it does it again. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

There is NO "rubber" pedal on the gas pedal. Foot easily slips off "metal" pedal whether shoe is dry, wet, muddy snow encased, etc. Unable to maintain positive pressure on gas pedal as shoe/foot easily slips off. First vehicle I have driven with no "rubber" pad on the Gass pedal. With no "rubber" pad, may not be able to accelerate due to foot slipping OSS, may cause unnecessary REAR END COLLISION.

On 3 separate occasions, the following problem occurred. When towing in back of Motorhome (in neutral tow mode) while making a left turn from a full stop the towed vehicle (Ford Maverick) began to shake violently. The wheels turned opposite direction causing shaking so violently that I felt the motorhome being pulled left and right like a violent wobble. I quickly slowed to a stop and then proceeded slowly forward, and the wheels straightened out and everything was OK again.

Since October 2024, at approximately 6,000 miles, began receiving this warning message in the ford pass app: “Remote features disabled to preserve battery Your 2024 Maverick equipped with FordPass(TM) Connect has entered Deep Sleep mode to conserve battery energy. Remote features including start/stop and lock/unlock may be temporarily unavailable because your battery charge level is low. You can easily fix this yourself by going for a longer ride. Make sure to keep your air conditioning and accessories off during this drive to recharge your battery faster. If your vehicle doesn't start: - Jump start it then take it for a drive to recharge the battery - Contact your preferred dealer for further service if needed” In November the interior lights stopped working when the car door would be open with or without the truck on. No open door would register the lights to come on. I have done exactly what they say to do in the message but still, I am getting this same message and no interior lights. I plugged in a code reader into the truck to test the battery and it showed that it had an abnormal battery function. There is no recall for my truck for this issue, but there are for other vehicles. My truck needs to be included in this recall so I can have working interior lights, and a normal-functioning battery. This has been an on-going issue for roughly 4 months. The photo included over the interior light is showing you that the switch is in the proper position and the door is open but no lights. The second photo is showing the switch in the on position and no lights.

While driving at highway speed on I-275with cruise control engaged on afternoon of June 11 the truck suddenly began slowing down. I couldn't get it to accelerate. I ultimately had to get over two lanes and still had enough momentum to get off an exit ramp. At the end of the ramp, I noticed I was unable to get the truck to accelerate from a stopped position either. Only then did I notice the dial transmission had moved to N from D. I did not initiate this move while I was on the highway, nor was I aware of it, nor do I believe I bumped the dial. This is the second time this has happened. Previously it occurred some time in late 2025 in a store parking lot. At highway speeds, this is extremely dangerous.

My 2024 Ford Maverick (VIN [XXX] ) has had three sudden losses of drive power while driving. Each time the accelerator stopped delivering power with NO warning lights, no error messages, and no dashboard indicators before, during, or after. Each time I pulled over, shut off the vehicle, and restarting fully restored normal function. Incident 1 — Aug 2024, two-lane highway, New Mexico. Clear, ~80°F, light traffic, ~60 mph. Accelerator suddenly lost power, no indicators. Pulled to shoulder; restart restored function. Incident 2 — XXX, ~6:10 PM, XXX northbound on-ramp from [XXX] . While accelerating up the ramp to merge, power cut out — same behavior, no warnings. Pulled over; restart restored function. Incident 3 —XXX, ~8:05 AM, [XXX] . Slowed for a turn; no power when I accelerated out. Same signature. These symptoms are identical to NHTSA Recall 24V-267 (Ford 24S24) — loss of motive power from the BCM/PCM failing to detect 12V battery degradation — and the follow-on battery recall 25V-158 (Ford 25S26). My vehicle is a 2024 Maverick and is NOT included in 24V-267, which Ford limited to 2022-2023 Mavericks built Feb 2021–Oct 2022. I am reporting because my 2024 shows the identical failure mode, including the total absence of warning before power loss, matching the owner reports that prompted Recall Query RQ24014 into the adequacy of the 24V-267 remedy. I request NHTSA consider whether the affected population should include model year 2024 Mavericks. These events are recurring and have occurred at highway speed and while merging, creating a serious crash risk. I have a 2024 hybrid Maverick with 17,000 miles on. The The 12 volt battery is a known issue in the vehicle that Ford has failed to address. When I went to go start my truck the other morning the battery had failed. I hooked up a jump pack to the proper terminals under the hood so that I could start the vehicle. I was successful in starting the vehicle after that. I had every warning message pop up on the dashboard. I turn the vehicle off and try to restart a few times to no avail. I had somewhere that I had to be so I started to drive. The accelerator pedal did not register at all from zero to all the way down to the floor. The truck was accelerating on its own to about 35 mph. The brakes worked the steering worked the accelerator pedal did not register at all. I parked the vehicle to try it again three or four times each time same. Then I parked for sometime maybe an hour. I tried it and it seemed to drive just fine but with a check engine light. The vehicle through all sorts of low voltage codes. This is unacceptable and should never happen to a vehicle when jump stared. I have never seen a vehicle operate the accelerator without input from the driver and I could literally put the pedal to the floor multiple times and it did not rev up or speed up at all just continue to accelerate on its own accord to about 35 mph. Going down hills the brakes work but as soon as I let off the brakes it would accelerate again. I am very busy and I have not had time to go to the dealership with the issue. I don't have time for them to take my truck for multiple days just to tell me what I already know the 12 volt battery is no good. Now I am stuck with a need to replace a battery on a vehicle that is less than 1-year-old and less than 20,000 miles just unacceptable. They could give me another battery but from what I have read the battery fails time and time again. I also have issues trusting the vehicle now if I do have to jumpstart it.

Air Bags,Forward Collision Avoidance2 complaints

On 01 February 2025, my 2024 Ford Maverick XLT was involved in a front-end collision where two critical safety systems failed: 1.Airbag System Failure: The airbags did not deploy despite a significant front-end impact. This component is still available for inspection upon request. 2.Forward Collision Sensor Malfunction: The front collision sensor system failed to detect the obstacle and did not engage automatic braking, which contributed to the severity of the crash. This system is also available for inspection. Safety Risk: Due to these failures, my wife was hit in the chest by the force of the impact, and our dog was thrown inside the vehicle. My wife may have sustained internal injuries or bruising as a result. The failure of both the airbag system and collision avoidance system put our safety at serious risk. Problem Confirmation: The issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or service center because my insurance company (Progressive) is scheduled to inspect the vehicle on Monday. I will update this report if additional findings are confirmed. Inspection Status: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer (Ford), but I have reported the issue to them for investigation. The vehicle will be inspected by insurance representatives to assess the damage and possible system malfunctions. No police report was filed at the time of the accident. Warning Signs Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps or error messages prior to the failure. The vehicle was operating normally until the moment of the collision.

Vehicle was on clear two lane road, no vehicles in sight to front, nor opposing lane, or even in Rear view. Speed between 45 and 50 mph. Vehicle was headed approximately south, and the road was shaded by trees to the west. Miles on odometer 1961.8 . Red warning appeared on dash, indicating to prepare for collision. We note that this is not the first time in the young life of this vehicle this warning has appeared, but that another time there was another vehicle, in its own lane, and slowing to the passenger side front, but not in any way moving into our lane. Then, later the same afternoon, about 18 miles later, and orange colored CANCEL appeared 2 times at about 66mph. There were about 1980 miles on the odometer, and in adaptive cruise control. I'm concerned that this "safety feature" has more possible error modes than Ford lists in its owner's operating manual, and that the faulty messages are a distraction, and possibly dangerous. As to the subject, "dangerous," we had previously submitted to NHTSA the occurrance of a dangerous automatic braking event when there was no need for braking, and we were in an express lane on Highway 680 with cars immediately behind. NHTSA has acknowledged receipt of that information. I had not noted on that there was no sudden change in roadway illumination (daytime) or orientation of the vehicle to the sun when that occurred. Monday of this same week I had just retrieved my vehicle from the dealer, whose technician had run what diagnostics they had available on events (apparently none recorded) and attempts to test for any malfunction of adaptive driver assist mode. Are we the only party experiencing random errors in the adaptive driving assist?

These two failure types for 4 incidents may involve 3 components or 1 or 2 of the ADAS; Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking (Certainly,) and Forward Collision Warning: The first incident was at town speed when a vehicle to the immediate front right slowed to depart the turn land into a driveway, and my vehicle slowed abruptly, although the other was not in my path. A subsequent time, mine abruptly slowed under similar conditions and displayed the red imminent crash warning. A third time, it slowed abruptly on the freeway when a vehicle to the right front slowed. The fourth failure was on [XXX], headed [XXX] toward Fremont, when the vehicle, without any warning or signal on the screen, braked abruptly when I was in the express lane and traveling between 65 and 70 mph. The trucklet braked precipitously, and I quickly pulled past some pylons into a construction shoulder area to avoid a chain reaction collision! In a couple minutes it seemed to indicate things were normal, and I waited some minutes until I could re-enter the freeway from the left into the high speed express lane (!) and have been able to drive the next couple hundred miles without these jarring sorts of malfunctions. These constitute 4 separate incidents, three of which could have precipitated accidents. Who knows what's next? Electrical System,Service Brakes,Engine1 complaint

I am reporting a recurring safety-critical failure. On two separate occasions, the vehicle has experienced a total electrical and mechanical shutdown while in operation. During these events, the 12V power system fails completely, turning off all instrumentation and, most critically, the electronic power brake assist. This results in a 'hard pedal' condition where the vehicle is nearly impossible to stop without extreme physical force. The first instance occurred at road speeds, forcing an emergency maneuver into a turning lane to avoid traffic. The second instance occurred while reversing, causing the vehicle to lose all braking and propulsion and roll into a busy road resulting in a near-miss collision. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive as the shutdowns are intermittent and occur without warning.

RITICAL BRAKING FAILURE & DEALER NEGLIGENCE: The vehicle exhibits a violent shudder and loss of deceleration during the hand-off between regenerative and friction braking. This defect was first reported to the dealer (Rich Ford) at 35,399 miles (RO #[XXX]) within the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty but was not repaired. THE INCIDENT: On [Insert Date], the braking system failed to decelerate the vehicle during a traffic slowdown. The pedal vibrated violently, and the vehicle did not stop. I was forced to swerve across two lanes of traffic onto the shoulder to avoid a high-speed rear-end collision. DEALER NEGLIGENCE: The vehicle was in dealer possession from Jan 12–28, 2026 (16 days). Odometer records prove they only test-drove it for 7 miles. They failed to apply known TSB 23-2209 (Hybrid Shudder) and released the vehicle to me despite active internal ABS Pump Control Codes (C052E and U0418) recorded in the vehicle logs on Jan 22, 2026. REPORTING IRREGULARITY: The dealer coded this latest safety attempt as "Routine Maintenance/Flush" rather than a safety repair, effectively hiding the defect history from the manufacturer and my warranty provider to avoid Lemon Law liability. Steering,Suspension,Wheels1 complaint

While driving my 2024 Ford Maverick on a highway at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power to the front wheels while passing a slower-moving vehicle. This caused the truck to jerk and decelerate rapidly in the oncoming lane, forcing me to veer back into my original lane abruptly. In doing so, I narrowly avoided a head-on collision, but the sudden maneuver caused the driver behind me to swerve off the road to avoid a rear-end collision. As a result, that vehicle went into a ditch and struck a small embankment. Three people inside suffered injuries, one with a fractured wrist, another with whiplash, and the third sustained a concussion from the impact. Emergency crews responded to the scene, and all injured individuals were transported to the hospital for evaluation. Despite the severity of the incident, there was no physical damage to my Maverick, as I was able to regain control and come to a stop safely on the shoulder. The cause was later determined to be a failure of the front driver-side CV axle and associated drivetrain components. Ford service technicians confirmed the mechanical failure after inspection. There were no warning lights, dashboard alerts, or fault codes prior to the failure. Intermittent clicking sounds during acceleration and turns had been occurring since around 3,500 miles, but the dealership initially dismissed them as normal. The full failure occurred at approximately 4,200 miles. Ford has not issued a recall or technical service bulletin related to this, though the dealer acknowledged similar reports from other Maverick owners. The failed parts remain in possession of the dealership and are available for further inspection.

Ford provides a spare tire with their 2024 Maverick pickup truck, but does not provide a safe way to transport a damaged tire after performing a tire change. Ford's Owner's Manual for the Maverick shows on page 363 how the damaged tire is to be secured in the bed of the truck using the provided strap tied diagonally to one of the D-rings at the front of the bed and one of the cleats at the rear. Both tie down points for the strap are low enough in the bed to create a vertical force on the damaged tire and hold it down on the bed. Ford has not equipped the base model, known as Maverick XL, with the two D-rings shown in the manual. The only alternative tie down point at the front corners is a pair of cleats that are too high on the bed wall to put a vertical force on the tire. (These other cleats are shown in their Flex Bed diagram.) If attempted, the tire would be held down only by gravity and likely become a dangerous projectile. It would also be inadvisable to stow the damaged tire under the truck bed taking the place where the spare had been stored. If attempted, a damaged tire could have treads or steel cords hanging from it, which could either come in contact with a hot exhaust system or the cords could drag on the road and potentially spark a wildfire the way tow chains sometimes do. Ford's engineers have, in my opinion, designated in its Maverick Owner's Manual the only safe way to stow a damaged tire after using the Maverick's spare tire for an emergency tire change. Ford has provided the strap to secure the tire, but has not equipped all trim levels of the Maverick with the D-rings. Ford needs to provide Maverick XL owners with the two missing D-rings as well as the fasteners to mount them on the truck bed. It may also need to provide the correct size tapping tool if the existing holes were not threaded at the factory. This would remedy the inability to safely carry a damaged tire and also align with Owner's Manual instructions.

Concerning 2024 Ford Maverick hybrid pickup. Vehicle has had a sudden loss of power and loss of acceleration at highway speeds on four different dates between December 2024 and late January 2025. Took to local Ford dealer service [XXX] There were no vehicle health alerts or diagnostic trouble alerts. Service advisor searched manufacturer database found no information related to problem, and to call and bring vehicle in again if it reoccurred. Safety of passenger and self endangered due to sudden power and acceleration losses. On 3/4 incidents I was able to pull over to shoulder and engage emergency flashers. On two of these occasions vehicles close behind mine had to quickly engage their brakes to avoid collisions, and one following vehicle also had to make an emergency move to swerve away from my vehicle and avoid collision. On fourth episode there was a very near miss of collision - six following vehicles had to emergency brake to avoid a multi vehicle collision at highway speed. Problem could not be reproduced by dealer service center. The vehicle was inspected by dealer service tech on [XXX] as noted above. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of problem prior to the failures that I was aware of. However, since my focus was on quickly and safely reacting to get the vehicle off the road and avoiding collisions there may have been warnings or symptoms I was unaware of. The speedometer needle went down and the accelerator was completely unresponsive when I depressed the gas pedal. I called local dealer service again on [XXX] after reading several reports online of the same or very similar incidents that occurred in earlier model years of Ford Maverick and other models sharing same or similar platform or components. Dealer reset or updated PCM and BCM software. [XXX] … INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This recall was put into effect in December, causing my vehicle to be taken off a rental program, causing a loss in income. 24V684 states that the vehicle camera will freeze, but to continue to drive the vehicle. This recall should not have been released until a remedy was available.

The main battery keeps going into battery saver mode and tells me to drive the vehicle to get it out of battery saver (i.e., charge the battery) even after I've driven the vehicle for over an hour. Some people have reported that the main batter goes into battery saver even when the vehicle is running! Also, the collision avoidance is a joke. I've had it come on ONCE when it was nearly unavoidable to hit the car in front of me. If I had already not been taking evasive action, there would have been a collision. The settings saying "warn me at max distance" don't seem to have any effect on this. Not a helpful feature and downright dangerous if one were to depend on it.

Truck is draining its battery after sitting in a downtime period. (6-12 hours) leaving me stranded. This has happened more than 20 times since 12/26/2024. I DO HAVE INFORMATION TO SUBMIT FOR SHOP (VISITS), HOWEVER AT THE TIME I AM FILLING THIS OUT I HAVE NO WAY TO ENTER THAT INFORMATION HERE. THE SHOP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES AT THE LONGEST 20days STRAIGHT, UNKNOWN HOW MANY DAYS TOTAL. Most of the shop visits concluded with either battery charges OR battery changes. I have been told by Ford Dealership Maintenance Shop many times they have no idea what is going on with the vehicle. I have digital proof from the Ford app when this happens. My concern is that I have noticed that Ford is removing Digital information off of the app that supports my case. ALSO, They have started to “lose my paper work” when I go to pick up my vehicle from their shop. My vehicle has ONLY been to the dealership shop where I purchased it.

When stopped in drive with brakes applied, the vehicle will lurch forward without me releasing the brakes. This is not an intermittent issue - it happens constantly. This is obviously a safety issue and many other owners have reported the same issue on several forums.

Shortly after starting the vehicle and stopping at a stop light after driving approximately 50 yards, the vehicle jerks, feels like engine/drivetrain is shuddering, and attempts to lurch forward. To stop it I have to apply additonal pressure to the brakes. This has occurred 4 times that I detected after driving on a daily basis since 12/20/24 (when vehicle was purchased) and today 01/01/25. I have not contacted the dealership about this issue yet. There have been no warning lamps, messages or other related symptoms that I have detected.

It happened twice in 3 days. The first time I lost electrical power, the battery died. I use a trickle charger to recharge it for 4 hours, then it functioned as normal for one day, I went to the dealer for service and they looked at it and said there was nothing wrong and sent me home. On the third day, it died again. All electrical power was lost, the car was locked up, and could not be shifted to neutral for towing. It is now sitting at my driveway waiting for Ford roadside service to tow it to a dealer for diagnostic and services.

Electrical System,Exterior Lighting,Unknown Or Other1 complaint

My 2024 Ford Maverick manufactured 9/24 has failed to unlock on two separate occasions with key fob and the interior lights failed to come on when I unlocked the driver door with the mechanical metal key. When I checked the charge status of my battery it was depleted below 75%. I also noticed that the battery was a flooded acid type and is installed under the rear seat within the passenger compartment. The placement of a flooded acid type of battery in the passenger compartment poses a significant danger and risk of acid exposure in the event of a collision.

Rearview camera lags and occasionally freezes image during reversing. Lagging and freezing gives a false sense of vehicle position. There has been one occasion where the image froze and stayed frozen even after putting vehicle in "D" and traveling up to 30mph+. Upon exiting my garage I always stop to close the door. My driveway has incline. I begin to roll back, hit the breaks several times with no engagement, begin pumping the brake pedal several times, no response. Continued to roll in reverse going across the street and hit neighbor's park car in their driveway. Police Officer noted that brake pedal was very low upon applying brakes and a hiss sound of like a vacuum or pressure lost. Reported a claim to insurance company. I never observed any indication of faults. Had truck toed to Greiner Ford to be inspected and or repaired. They said they could not find anything wrong with brake system or electronics. Since the incident I have reviewed by Ring camera video of that day and noticed that the DRL lights were flashing like a turn signal light which are not supposed to do. Truck is presently at Greiner Ford Collision Center for repair of damage to drive side rearend. I will have Greiner reinspect once collision damage is repaired and advise them of the flashing DRL's Other problems encountered prior to this incident: 1. Several times with adaptative cruise on and lane departure on there has been several notifications of cancelations were noted. 2. Several times horn has sounded when opening door with truck turned off. 3. Pre collision notification without anything in front of truck. I will also note that after receipt of new vehicle, approximately 1 to 2 months the truck was updated with new software.

In reducing the truck's speed, there is a sharp-pitched, loud, one-click sound , when I turn the steering to the right hand side. (This sound seems to come from the driver's left side, between the front door and the rear door.) It happens very often, but not every time.

SENCE PURCHACED the truck has a tie rod rattle, I have spoken to dealership and was informed no issue found. But as of late Vehicle wobbles very harshly when execrating or pulling away from stop signs passing another vehicle. Turns out it's a VERY common CV axle issue that the dealership doesn't have any sort of recall on. Feels very very unsafe to drive and its disappointing to see so many other drivers with the exact same issue with the tie rod ends. Now a recall on some of the mavericks suspension AKA tie rod installed wrong/ defective with a DO NOT DRIVE WARNING?

Tires1 complaint

2024 Ford Maverick with under 3K mileage. ALL 4 tires have visible sidewall buckling on outside & inside. None failed yet but as retire police / dot inspector, I know this is sidewall failure waiting to happen after only a couple thousand miles. Heck the "full size" Atlas 215/60/r17 spare is a totally different size (1.3 inches shorter) which is unusable on front wheel drive axle due to rotational differences. Made in Mexico. Ford does not have a "better idea". Should my local Ford dealer where the truck was purchased this year not correct this, I will contact an attorney. Know any decent civil attorneys? Ford dealer stated after looking at the tires, the sidewall on Continental tires have "normal seams".
