Below are recalls and complaints reported to NHTSA for the 2019 Ford F 250. This information is consumer-reported and provided for general informational purposes only. Vehicles like this may qualify under California lemon law depending on their individual repair history.
The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 F-250 and F-350, single rear wheel and dual rear wheel, 4X4 vehicles. The front axles may contain a wheel end yoke that was not properly welded to the axle tube end.
Reported consequence: An improperly welded axle may affect vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners and dealers will inspect the front axle wheel yoke weld location. If the weld is found to be inaccurately located, the axle assembly will be replaced free of charge. The recall began October 16, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S56.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2022 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty vehicles equipped with gasoline engines and aluminum driveshafts. Underbody heat and noise insulators may loosen and contact the aluminum driveshaft, which could damage the driveshaft and cause it to fracture.
Reported consequence: A fractured driveshaft can cause a loss of drive power, or a loss of vehicle control if the driveshaft contacts the ground. Additionally, unintended movement could occur while parked if the parking brake is not engaged. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the driveshaft as necessary, and properly attach the underbody insulators, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 7, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S09.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks equipped with an electric tailgate latch release switch mounted in the tailgate handle. Water may enter the electrical wiring system and cause a short circuit, activating the switch and releasing the tailgate latches.
Reported consequence: Unintended tailgate opening may allow unrestrained cargo to fall out of the truck bed and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the tailgate/frame wiring harnesses by adding jumper pigtails to isolate the tailgate release control circuits and will install a new tailgate handle release switch, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 20, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S48.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 F-150 and 2019-2020 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty pickup trucks, and 2018-2019 Ford Explorer, 2019-2020 Expedition, and 2020 Escape vehicles equipped with driver and/or passenger's manual front seat back recliner mechanisms. Also included are certain 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with rear outboard seats and manual seat back recliner mechanisms. The recliner mechanisms may be missing the third pawl required for seat back strength, resulting in a loose seat back. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."
Reported consequence: A seat back with an improperly assembled recliner mechanism may have reduced strength and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the seat structure and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C07.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2020 F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and 2017-2020 Lincoln Continental vehicles equipped with the 360-degree camera system. Degradation of the camera's anit-reflective lens coating can lead to a foggy or cloudy rearview camera image.
Reported consequence: Lack of a clear rearview camera image can reduce the driver's visibility of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 21, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S51.

The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.
Reported consequence: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driverâs view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.

During the previous repair, the block heater cable's splice connector may have been damaged.
Reported consequence: A damaged cable could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will disable the engine block heater from being used. When replacement cables become available, a second notice will be mailed and dealers will replace the engine block heater cord, free of charge. The recall began May 31, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S11.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 F-150, Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 vehicles. Due to a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera may intermittently display a blank or distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Reported consequence: A rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the drivers view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 2, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20C19.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150 and 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty pick-up trucks equipped with an engine block heater. Water and contaminants may get into the block heater cable's splice connector causing corrosion and damage.
Reported consequence: When the heater is plugged in, prolonged corrosion could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring which can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will disable the block heater cable, free of charge. Once parts are available, Dealers will replace the engine block heater cable, free of charge. The recall began June 3, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S45.

The owner's manual does not include instructions for adjusting or removing certain head restraints. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
Reported consequence: Without instructions, the head restraints may be improperly adjusted, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will mail the Owner's Manual addendums that describe how to adjust and remove the head restraints for the center seating positions, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 21, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23C20.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 F-150, 2018-2020 F-250, F-350, and 2019 Escape vehicles equipped with Continental tires. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during tire production.
Reported consequence: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S10.

The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.
Reported consequence: If the steering locks, it can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2019 F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty trucks. The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) may not dim when the headlight switch is moved into the "On" position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Reported consequence: DRL that cannot dim may reduce the visibility of other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford has notified owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module (BCM) software, free of charge. The recall began November 25, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C10.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 F-250 and F-350 vehicles equipped with electronically locking rear differentials. The passenger side rear axle shaft may fail prematurely due to a material issue.
Reported consequence: A broken passenger side rear axle could result in a loss of drive power and the inability to hold the vehicle still when in Park. If the parking brake is not applied, unintended vehicle movement can occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the passenger side rear axle shaft, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S31.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and F-450 Super Duty vehicles. An incorrect transmission case casting may cause the park pawl assembly to not be secured, possibly resulting in unintended vehicle movement.
Reported consequence: Unintended vehicle movement can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners and dealers will inspect the transmission case, replacing the transmission as necessary, free of charge. The recall began December 7, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S36.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2019 F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 SuperCrew Cab vehicles with carpet flooring. If a front seat belt pretensioner deploys as the result of a crash, the sparks may ignite materials such as carpeting or insulation within the B-pillar area.
Reported consequence: A vehicle fire could result if materials ignite inside the vehicle.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply heat resistant tape to the carpet and its insulation, and modify the B-Pillar insulation as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 20, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S52.

Pulling my camper with my 2019 Ford F250. As we began to go down a hill I tapped the brakes to just slow down. I was driving around 55 mph. After I tapped the brakes the front end began to shake. I guess this is known as the Death Wobble. It was extremely scary. Never have had anything like this before. If Ford knows about this why have they not done anything? Thanks

On [XXX] I was driving to North Carolina pulling a 43 foot fifth wheel camper when I hit a bump driving at 65 MPH when I hit a bump and experienced the notorious Ford Death Wobble. The whole truck & steering started to shake violently I had to almost come to complete stop on interstate to get truck to stop shaking & to get truck under control I do know in fact that Ford has had issues with this problem & I am concerned why Ford has not recalled their trucks for this problem. My wife also drives this truck pulling the same camper. I am concerned this will happen again when she is driving. This problem almost caused a wreck from traffic behind me having to stop suddenly. After hitting a small bump on the highway my steering violently vibrated and i had to pull to the side of the interstate over a bridge because I though I had a tire blow out. I almost got rear-ended due to slowing down form 70mph to a safe enough speed to pull over. After inspecting the tires I couldn't see anything wrong. The drove fine until i hit a similar bump on the way back. Once the vibration starts, it's extremely hard to maintain control of the vehicle. 2019 Ford F250 17,000 miles

When traveling this past weekend at 60-65mph, after crossing a small bump in the road, my truck lost control and vibrated into the oncoming lane by more than 50%. My truck continued left while I held the steering wheel to the right. This is not the first time this has happened, but always happens when traveling at highway speeds. This time, however, was the most drastic and scariest loss of control we have experienced. At the same time, I was hauling our horses which made for an even more dangerous situation. It was very nerve-wracking. Thankfully, no one was in the oncoming lane in that spot at that moment. I have experienced this loss of control multiple times after hitting small bumps/ripples in the road, some bumps so small that you can't see them...only feel them when the truck reacts. I spoke with an agent (Diane) at Ford and have an appointment with Byrd Kultgen Ford next Tuesday. The vehicle has not be inspected at this time. There have been no warning lamps/messages with this issue. This problem only presents itself at highway speeds (above 50mph) which I only drive one weekend per month...otherwise, I stay local at regular city speeds (30-50). This problem was first noticed about year ago, but I wasn't sure at the time if it was the road or the truck. As the months have passed, along with how bad we experienced it this past weekend and googling information about others with this same issue, it is definitely the truck.

Steering system due to "death wobble".
NHTSA #11602021
Truck has death wobble in front suspension. Almost bad wreck on interstate.
NHTSA #11586085
Over the past 100 miles my F250 4x4 has nearly lost control because of a violent shaking, or wobbling of the front end. It has happened four (4) times when driving on paved surfaces at approximately 50-55mph; it has happened once while I was braking at approximately 45mph (this would be the 5th time). I immediately slowed down (without hard braking) when the wobbling occurred, but I believe that if I hadn't, the vehicle could have been forced into the opposite lane of travel. The current mileage is 28,859 It is available for inspection I'm taking it into my Ford dealership (for the first time) tomorrow to tell it about the problem, but it was also recommended I report the issue here because of numerous similar complaints. No dash warning lights came on before, during, or after the incidents. Thank you

Driving at 50 mph+, I have experienced a violent wobble in the truck that can only be stopped by coming to a complete stop with my truck. this has happened multiple times. I have read up on this and it seems to be called the “death wobble” and can not be fixed. I have had a baby and another small child in the truck with me at one of the occurrences. This wobble causes me to almost lose control over the vehicle. Is there a recall I am unaware of for the suspension and steering? I have read that customers have tried to fix the issues and have not been able to. My family uses this truck often as we don’t have another option at the moment. Another worry is that this wobble has damaged other components of the truck that I am unaware of. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA #11564020
Any sudden jolt to the front passenger side wheel causes the truck to do the death wobble. It happened 3 times yesterday (12/31/23) within a 1 hour time frame. The only way to stop it is to let the truck gradually come to a stop and then start back again. The whole truck jumps and the steering wheels shakes uncontrollably.
NHTSA #11562937
Speed wobble is pulling the vehicle into on coming traffic. Issue has been diagnosed by the ford dealership as bad tires in the past. Replaced tires and 20,000 miles later the problem comes back.
NHTSA #11629117
Steering and suspension were compromised at highway speeds upon hitting a mild change in surface (such as a bridge expansion joint). The front axle bounces and shakes violently and steering is extremely difficult. Reducing speed (below highway speed while on a highway in traffic) eventually ends the violent shaking and bouncing. This problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center nor has it been inspected by others. There were also no warning lamps or messages.
NHTSA #11558092
I experienced the death wooble on my 2019 f250 took truck to ford dealership and had the steering dampner replaced as this what ford says causes the problem but a week after it was supposed to corrected i was driving on the interstate and hit a ruff spot in the pavement and experienced the death wooble again . This was on11/04/2023 . So the part ford says should correct the wooble didnt fix it. Still have death wooble .
NHTSA #11554580
Driving on the highway at speeds above 60 mph and hitting seams or bumps in the road, the front suspension starts to violently shake. It is random when it happens. The shaking causes the whole truck and steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. The only way to stop the shaking is to slow to below 40 mph. This happens at random places and times. There is no warning and the entire truck and steering wheel is fully involved in violent shaking within 3 seconds.
NHTSA #11553677
I was exiting off interstate when my truck suddenly and violently started shaking out of control. I thought i had a blowout at first but after i slowed down i recain control over truck and it smooth back out. This has happen a few times in the past but not as extreme as this time. I ould have lost control and wrecked if i hadn't have been already exiting off interstated. This happen on 10_14_23
NHTSA #11550046
At less than 10,000 miles, on a curve, my truck began shacking uncontrollably, putting me in to oncoming traffic and into a ditch. I was able to control it enough and an accident didn’t occur. I contacted my salesman and he said it was known as the death wobble. He told me to bring it in. I took it in and they explained that they can put a steering damper on it, but it wouldn’t fix the problem and they needed to replace several parts. I said it’s under warranty so do it. They explained it wouldn’t be covered and the only thing Ford would pay for would be the dampener. I told them to do it. At app. 32,000 miles it has happened again. I feel that Ford is not taking responsibility and that it could cost my life, as well as others.
NHTSA #11533244
Driving and hit bump in road. At that time the front-end felt like it was coming out from under the truck. Almost caused a wreak but was able to stop. Found no issues but did it again when next bump was hit. WS told it is a know issue with what is called the death wobble. How are you allowed to sell a truck with a death wobble
NHTSA #11529286

NHTSA #11528771
Experienced the death wobble on the freeway. I was forced to pull over on the shoulder of the freeway. I thought I had a blow out. It scared the heck out of me. Once I reentered the freeway the wobble was gone. Now when I hit rough spots on the road the front end vibrates like it is loose.

On June 5. 2023, My family was on the way to Dallas. In Huntsville, TX, we were driving approximately 68MPH when we hit an small divet in the roadway. The truck then began to shake violently and would not cease until we pulled off the highway to a complete stop. After checking the truck over, no apparent damage had caused the occurence. I had heard previously about a "Death Wobble" and after some online research, determined this is what had occured. We immediately called our local Ford (Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX) dealership to find that there were no "active recalls" but that if it was determined that a part was causing this, they might repair it after a $140 diagnostic fee. we scheduled an appointment and continued on our trip hoping the occurence would not happen again. In the matter of less than an hour, it occured 4 more times and I deteremined that for my safety and my families safety that we would find a local dealership and try to fins another vehicle to complete our trip. I personally did not feel safe driving the vehicle anymore until the problem was fixed. Luckily, the Ford Dealer in Corsicanna ( Brinson Ford) had heard of the issue and was able to put a band-aid fix (free of charge) on the issue but advised it could happen again. I have video of somoe of the occurences that my wife videoed from the back seat. I'm amazed that Ford doesn't have to officially ackowledge this as a safety recall and will be following up with them as they put me, my wife, and my 10 month old baby in danger multiple times. I now am nervous to even drive my vehicle until I have a 3rd party check over the "repair" and determine it is safe to drive. From what i have heard, the part they replaced is just a temporary fix and doesn't truly address the issue at hand. Some mechanics advise re-doing multile suspension and steering components costing upwards of 5k.
NHTSA #11525794
Traveling at between 65 and 70 miles an hour I hit a small bump in the road and the front suspension and steering wheel started to violently shake. Pulling me all over the road and almost off the road. Fortunately I was able to avoid other drivers. And keep it out of the ditch. I am now terrified to drive my truck. After speaking with the dealer they will repair. Using new parts identical to the ones that failed. With no guarantee that it would not happen again in the future. I feel my truck is completely unsafe to drive. Especially when there's zero warning that this could happen again in the future. Luckily no one was hurt and I avoided barely hitting other cars on the highway.
NHTSA #11521909
Vehicle shakes very bad once I go over 65 MPH. The dealer has serviced this issue twice with no resolve. During some instances, I am required to slow down and pull to the side of the highway placing myself and family endanger.
NHTSA #11518895
When traveling on the highway going 65 mph hit an uneven spot on highway and the truck started shaking vigorously and had to hold on tight and slow down in the middle of the highway. No safety lights came on. I have an appointment at a dealer to look at it. A goggle search on the problem names it as DEATH WOBBLE
NHTSA #11517514
When I was traveling down the road when hitting a bump my steering started rattling uncontrollably. It felt as if my truck was going to steer off and hit the side wall. My safety was put at risk and others not knowing where my vehicle was going to go on the road. This is not just a problem with my vehicle either. Thousands and thousands of forums online ford customer have experienced the same problem time and time again since 2005. Brand new $90k truck rolling off the lot with ford knowing this is a problem. I just bought this truck a week ago. I should not be spending $48k on a vehicle and already need to dump money into it when this is purely a manufacture problem. There is absolutely no warning that this problem is going to happen either. It can happen anytime any day. If you aren’t holding on tight enough you may just lose control. So you better be ready at all times when driving this vehicle.
NHTSA #11518448
When traveling on the highway at about 60-65 mph and hit a bump. The front end started to shake violently. I believe this is know as the F250 death wobble. I was able to slow down and it stopped, but almost went into the Jersey barrier. I went to the Ford dealer I bought the truck from and they have ordered parts to fix this issue. (Hopefully). The mileage on the Truck is 20,500. This occurred on 3/21/23. There were no warning lights or other symptoms before this incident.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 - 65 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and the vehicle experienced the death wobble, causing the vehicle to independently shift into either the left or right lane. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the result was unknown. The contact was informed that a steering dampener could be added to the control arms. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.
NHTSA #11689487
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH over a bumpy road surface, the front end of the vehicle and the steering wheel started shuddering violently, causing the vehicle to veer to the right into the slow lane independently. The contact swerved and was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving at a slower speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper had failed, and the tie rods and ball joints were damaged due to the shuddering. The dealer informed the contact that Ford Campaign Number: 20N04 only covered the steering linkage damper replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,137.

Death Wobble At 70 MPH When Driving Over Rumble Strip In The Middle Of The Road. Slowed Down To Almost 15 MPH To Stop The Excessive Violent Shaking.
NHTSA #11644363
I experienced a death wobble at 60mph this was a recall that i had done. I have not contacted the dealer about this yet. The mileage is about 47000
NHTSA #11631866
Had Death Wobble incident approximately 45 mph locked up breaks, came to slow roll, drove out of condition. ford replaced steering stabilizer very scary with family in vehicle luckily no trailer attached. ford needs to fix before death occurs. the caster bushing to fix can't cost anymore than the stabilizer replaced and definitely less costly than a life. This doesn't give impression of not caring about safety it confirms it ! Not new issue

Driving around a light curve on a highway at posted limit of 60mph, had a severe death wobble. It did it again around a second curve as I was attempting to slow down.
NHTSA #11613560
When driving down the highway 60 mph hit a rough patch on the highway. It caused the truck to start shimming where it felt like it was going to fall apart now known to us as the death wobble. The driver was with some difficulty to control the vehicle reduce the speed and pull off to the side of the road.
NHTSA #11604575
I was travelling at approximately 70 MPH and hit a small bump on the interstate. The steering started to wobble violently, resulting in the need to stop on the side of the interstate to correct the wobble. This occurred a few time prior, but the wobble resolved after 1 - 2 seconds.
NHTSA #11584677
While traveling on interstate I hit a bump and experienced “death wobble” and was barely able to control steering wheel. Had to slow to 20 mph to get it to stop.

I had it fixed under warrenty at 19,545 miles. Now it is out of warrenlty as of Dec 8th 2023 and I had two incident on Dec 10th ( 2 days after warrently expired) I believe I have around 47,000 miles on it now. I also paid for and extended warrentty and they said they dont know if it will cover it. This is very scary as I had 4 kids in my car taking my son to his birthday party and we all thought we were going to die. We were in the fast lane and the car behind us was honking and I could not even steer the truck. There are all kinds of videos on the internet showing that this is a known issue with 2019 fords and yet there are no recalls. So i guess if we die next time it will be just " oh well. there is nothing to be done. I am scared to death to ever drive this truck again. Please do something about the death wobble.

I have now experienced the Ford Death Wobble two different times driving at high rates of speed 70-75mph that has almost caused serious accidents on state i75 and I10 in Florida. My family was in the truck and I was able to save it from hitting the guard rail.

I was driving on US 59 while pulling a 30' Airstream Travel trailer with my 2019 F250 truck when the steering system started violently shacking preventing from controlling the vehicle. The truck and trailer veered across the center line before I could regain control. I was traveling 65 mph at the time. In May 2023, I was notified by Ford that the warranty for the steering damper had been extended as there have issues with steering system vibrating excessively preventing control of the vehicle. This need to be change to an immediate safety recall.

Death wobble has occurred multiple times. First in Dec 2021, truck had 15k miles. Was driving down the road and entire truck began to violently shake, was hard to keep the truck on the road without wrecking and hitting someone head on. Took to dealership and they replaced the steering stabilizer. Happened again Jan 2023 with 23k miles. Took it to dealership and they changed part again. Then in April 2023 it happened with 26k miles. Once again they changed the steering stabilizer. The most recent was last week Oct 2023 with 33k miles, the truck began to have the death wobble none stop on my way home. It was so bad that I had to pull over numerous times. The 1st time it happened, it kept pulling and shaking so bad that a car had to run off the road to avoid me hitting them head on. I could not drive above 40mph the rest of the way home without it occurring over and over. After arguing about getting the problem fixed since it was no longer under original warranty, they still have my truck a week later. So far they say they have changed the steering stabilizer again, the steering stabilizer bar, and the track bar. Right before they closed they sent a message saying it was ready to go, but I wasn't able to pick it up in time. This is a horrific experience when you are traveling at highway speeds and this occurs. It is the most violent shaking I have ever experienced. Feels like the wheels are going to fall off and you cannot get it to stop until the speed drops below 40mph. That creates another huge risk if you are in heavy traffic on the interstate and you have to slow down to 30mph below the speed limit and figure out how to get to the side of the road without causing an accident with a vehicle that you cannot control the steering in. When it happens I get wheel decent control fault, hill start assist warning, antisocial brake system fault, and roll stability control fault.

Truck was purchased used in Sept of 2023. Shortly after the truck started suffering from Death Wobble. All steering tie rod ends (all 4), track bar shocks and steering stabilizer were replaced. Tires were rotated Ball joints were checked and were good. Truck still has death wobble. I'm sure this is why the truck was traded. Ford has declined to repair under tsb 18 2268 due to build date.

I am experiencing the “death wobble” at Highway speeds
NHTSA #11517192
Death Wobble. At approximately 20,000 miles it began to experience the 'death wobble' routinely. An internet search uncovered the problem. The vehicle now has 20,400 miles on it and routinely goes into the wobble on the highway - (3 times on 04MAR23 driving from Orange County, CA to Barstow, CA.) The wobble does not stop until you pull over and come to a complete stop.

Without warning while I was driving at ~70 mph on the highway the engine in my truck died and left me with no power brakes or power steering in busy traffic. This is a very scary situation to be in. I pulled over and checked the truck best I could. Started it back up and carefully pulled back out onto the highway when it died again. I took it to the closest Ford service center and after diagnosis, they told me the CP4 pump is failing and will need to be replaced at a cost of ~$14,000. My research shows this is a common issue for Ford for a certain year range which my truck is in and they have recently paused the recall addressing the issue so the recall is not showing up when searching my VIN. I would appreciate Ford claiming that this is a safety issue and reimburse me for my out of pocket costs.

My husband was driving our 2019 F250 on the highway at over 75 mph and the truck totally shut down/stalled without warning, could have killed him or another person, lucky he was able to coast to the shoulder and stop, we took to the Ford dealership and was caused by the faulty CP4 fuel pump the truck was made with that has had class action lawsuits and recalls, we are out of pocket over $14,000 to rebuild entire fuel system due to the fact that fuel pump is NOT compatible with our diesel fuel leading to metal shavings build up in fuel system. Our truck still has no recall on this and it should and we should be reimbursed for the extremely expensive and lengthy repair, this is a very dangerous issue. The mechanic also stated he "duplicated" the stall when he go on the highway and hit speeds over 60 mph, thank goodness he is ok as well.
NHTSA #11728201
We believe the fuel line came off of the fuel filter. The truck caught fire and went up in flames. There is nothing left of the truck other than the frame. CHP and the fire department came to the scene. They put the fire out and the truck has been taken to the tow yard. Nothing has been inspected yet.

I have a 2019 Ford F250 with a 6.7 turbo diesel with the cp4 fuel pump which was recalled on the 2020-2024 models but they have used this same pump since 2011. with many many of them blowing up and causing 12-17,000.00 repairs and law suits against Ford Motor Company. This repair is costing me over 16,000.00 !!! they need to make the recall for all years that the cp4 pump is used.
NHTSA #11651877
The fuel line has broken twice now, causing the truck to stall while in motion on the interstate and spill fuel everywhere I know several other 2019 F250 owners, one of which their truck has caught on fire from the same thing Also, when the truck tow truck driver picked me up, they see said yes, we see this all the time Also, Ford has data on this, but has it under a confidentiality agreement and will not release it

The 2017-2019 F250 equipped with the 6.7l Powerstroke diesel engine has the same CP4 high pressure fuel pump that is the subject matter of the recall for the 2020-2022 F250 with the same engine. I would like to see what the chances are to get the recall added to the aforementioned year range. I have a 2019 model and worry every time I take it on the highway. I should not be concerned with a well maintained $40,000 vehicle.

Vehicle shuts off while traveling down the highway with no warning. I was able to not panic as this happened on interstate hwy while in middle lane was able to shift to neutral and restart vehicle shift back in drive and go on. The potential for a much worse result was huge I have to imagine a lot of drivers may not think of what I did and allowed the vehicle to come to a stop on the highway creating an obvious hazard
NHTSA #11680287
At 113,000 miles started going into limp mode because of CP4 fuel pump failure, causing vehicle not to run properly, shop states vehicle needs total fuel system replacement costing $11,000 on a low mileage diesel truck. Ford said it doesn’t fit into current recall, even though manufacturer date suggests it does! Also same CP4 pump issues like all the current problematic ones.

While driving at highway speeds, I drove over an expansion joint on a bridge and experienced violent shaking of the vehicle. This included violent shaking of the steering wheel and interior of the truck. I also slowed down to under 30 mph on the highway to stop the shaking. This occurred several other times and, upon researching, found it to be called a "death wobble". I brought my truck to a Ford dealership service center and mentioned the death wobble, which was immediately acknowledged. This cost $1758 out of pocket to fix. From research I have done, it seems all suspension components should not need any type of repair or replacement prior to reaching 50,000 miles, with some components lasting as much as 100,000 miles.

While driving on I-44 at approx. 70 MPH (12:30 PM, bright sunny day, lots of traffic), I hit a bump (not large or deep, just your ordinary bump on a U.S. Interstate), the truck began shaking violently (I'm talking hard to control, teeth rattling, I think we are going to crash). The steering wheel shook violently, my wife was startled, I managed to get it down to abut 45 MPH and the shaking stopped. I was 300 miles from home and it happened at least six more times before I got home.

Failure of the track bar bushings, failure of tie rod ends and failure of steering linkage dampers. This results in “death wobble” while driving at random speeds and contacting abnormal road surfaces. This results in the vehicle violently shaking and can lead to serious injury or death.
NHTSA #11642832
After receiving a repair for the failure of track bar bushing, steering linkage dampers and tie rod ends from the ford dealership, death wobble continues in my vehicle. This results in an almost $2000 fix. The vehicle violently shakes and could lead to serious injury or death.

when driving at speeds over 50mph and hit a slight bump or imperfection in the road the front end shakes violently and almost shakes the steering wheel out of your hands with no warning. this incident happened 10 time on a recent road trip. Internet search found this is a common problem with this model vehicle and it's called a Death Wobble. I don't understand why Ford hasn't issued a recall for this issue. Calling the dealership to inquire about fixing this problem.

I was driving on the highway at 60mph, I went over an uneven area on a highway bridge when my truck’s steering started to shake uncontrollably, I had both hands on the steering wheel and still started to swerve into the passing lane, I finally got it under control and was looking for an area to pull over as I wasn’t sure if I had a flat or not, the shaking finally stopped, I put my hazard lights on and slowly kept going , after a few miles it seemed ok. I went directly to my Ford dealer who said they have had problems with F250 Stabilizer bars and made an appointment to have it looked at

Since purchasing the truck new I have experienced a VIOLENT shaking of the truck after hitting a small (1-2 inch) bump on the freeway. The shaking did not abate until I slowed to about 15 MPH. This has occurred about a dozen times over the course of the last three years. It also occurred while my son (a police sergeant and driving instructor) was towing a boat to the lake, nearly causing an accident. He also owns a 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty but it has never happened while driving his truck, only mine. I have made numerous attempts to get the truck repaired by Ford to no avail. I sincerely believe someone is going to die if this issue is not resolved, I only pray it is not me or one of my family members. For the forthcoming questions I am using the first time it occurred. I don't have a record of every time it occurred.

I was driving on the highway at about 70 mph when the truck suddenly lost control. I almost crash into the nearest wall. Fortunately I didn’t, and I managed to break however as I was braking the truck kept shaking. All the tires were inspected and they aren’t the issue. Something to do with the suspension caused the lost of control.

I'm Experiencing with what several mechanics call a "Death Wobble". That is to say when I'm driving the vehicle and I hit a pothole or bump in the road Fifty five miles an hour or faster, the steering wheel and suspension shakes violently and and I have lost some control momentarily. I need to know whether or not there's been a recall for the 2019 Ford F250 crew cab lariat. My concern is the steering dampener, pitman arm and any other front end suspension linkage for the steering and suspension assembly is malfunctioning and needs to be recalled.

I was driving on a 1200 mile trip with my 39ft camper. I came off an overpass bridge and my truck felt like both front tires had popped. My steering wheel was bouncing like crazy and luckily I was able to get the vehicle to a stop and off the road. My 2 children and fiancé were also in the car and were lucky not to be killed. After stopping I looked over the truck and trailer and saw nothing wrong. We started to look up the death wobble on this model and it appears many people have also reported it. This truck only has 44k miles on it. I reported it to ford and they have made it clear that they will not be doing anything, other than allowing my extended service plan to replace the same parts if they find an issue. After talking with ford, I was driving my truck again without the trailer and the same thing happened. Luckily I was able to gain control of the truck again. The first instance I was going approximately 70 mph and the second I was around 60 mph. I am now afraid to drive this vehicle with my family and unfortunately I’m still 1000 miles from home.

Vehicle experiences death wobble in the front suspension system. While driving, vehicle suddenly shakes violently and is difficult to control. Vehicle was repaired at an authorized Ford dealership in 2021 but has since experienced the same dangerous affects of death wobble. Vehicle was inspected by the authorized Ford dealership prior to repair who confirmed the presence of death wobble. There were no warning signs prior to the vehicle experiencing death wobble before repair. There have been no warning signs after repair since death wobble has recurred.

I was driving by myself with my two small dogs on the interstate at approximately 70 mph when I ran over uneven pavement. Without any warning my truck began to shake so violently the dogs became terrified and hid under the seats and I briefly lost control of the vehicle. I was certain I had blown a tire. I decelerated quickly and looked for an opportunity to move out of traffic and pull over. I am incredibly blessed that I did not cause nor was injured in an accident. My truck was completely out of control for approximately 90 seconds. As i decelerated the truck regained drivability and the violent shaking dissipated. I am unsure which actual components may have failed, but my vehicle is available for inspection at any time. My safety, that of many others traveling on I-95, and the safety of my two dogs were put at serious risk of bodily harm or fatality at the complete and total loss of control of the vehicle. The problem has not been reproduced because I had no idea what had caused it. In August of 2023 my vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealership in Brainerd, MN and the only issue that was discovered was a mildly leaking rear pinion seal but the rear differential fluid was still full. The real differential fluid was checked again just prior to Labor Day weekend at Jiffy lube in Aiken, SC and also found to be full. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership in August, 2023 but not by the original manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. Absolutely zero warnings were ever issued by the Ford onboard computer. This is particularly disturbing as my onboard computer lets me know when even one tire pressure is off. There was zero symptoms of the problem prior to failure other than a typical "rough" Ford ride, which was explained to me when I purchased the vehicle, for cash, in Virginia. I have since researched this phenomenon, dubbed "death wobble" and am furious that Ford currently has knowledge of this and yet refuses to act on it.

While driving on the interstate in South Dakota I may have driven over a small bump in the road. I was in the passing lane. The truck immediately started shaking and I felt like I was going to lose control of the truck. Weather conditions were perfect, sunny and the road was completely dry. I immediately started braking thinking perhaps I had blown out a tire but the truck continued to shake violently while I tried to move back into the driving lane and on to the shoulder of the road. The truck did not quit shaking until I had stopped the vehicle on the shoulder. There was a lot of traffic on the interstate as the Sturgis motorcycle rally had just ended and I had a cyclist behind me as I pulled back into the drivers lane however he had enough space and time to allow me over. I checked my tires and all were fine so I slowly tried pulling back onto the interstate and the truck performed as it should. I drove at a much slower speed making sure it did not happen again. I did some research online and found what is called "the death wobble on Ford trucks" and feel this is exactly what I encountered. I feel this is a very unsafe condition that should be reported and felt necessary to issue this report.

Recall #22V644 is coming up on a 1 yr anniversary and Ford has yet to fix my truck. Weeks ago I saw on this website that the parts are now available. I called one dealer, Covington Ford, in Covington Georgia, and was told the parts had to be ordered. I gave all my info and have not heard back from them. I then called Athens Ford in Athens Georgia and was told the parts would have to be ordered. This is ridiculous! If parts are now available why don't these dealers have them to make repairs to affected vehicles. More importantly, why hasn't Ford reached out to owners of these vehicles to tell them parts are now available. I would like for NHTSA to force Ford to repair my vehicle. Thanks Mike

Swollen lug nuts. Wrench provided won’t fit
NHTSA #11587149
I had to replace lugs on my F250 due to swelling/warping. This could have been a major safety issue.
NHTSA #11618843
My lug nuts have swollen and cannot be removed using the proper size socket. The chrome outer coating is separating from the inner steel lug nut. This means that the chrome coating could fall off and cause an imbalance on each wheel which could lead to disastrous effects including the lugs breaking off and causing a tire to come off.

Violent shaking when driving at high speeds and after hitting bumps or uneven streets
NHTSA #11697494
I was driving at 60mph when the truck started shaking so bad I had to come to a complete stop. I could barley steer the truck when this was happening.
NHTSA #11603346
TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING SO HARD THAT I HAD DIFFICULTY HOLDING ONTO IT. THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND I ALMOST WENT INTO THE GUARD RAIL BEFORE I COULD SLOW DOWN TO A STOP AND BRING THE TRUCK UNDER CONTROL. I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION AND LOOKED AT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING BROKEN. ON THE WAY BACK HOME, THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING AGAIN AFTER HITTING A BUMP AND I HAD TO STOP AGAIN TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO STOP SHAKING - WHICH WAS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC I WAS IN. THERE WAS NO WARNING EITHER TIME THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW!

After sitting for extended durations the engine experiences a no start or long crank condition. Research and discussion with local mechanic indicate this is an issue with a failed/failing fuel pump and/or fuel pump module. It is my understanding a recall exists for similar failures on other ford models.
NHTSA #11697832
This vehicle was manufactured with a defective fuel injector pump that has led to excessive wear and damage to the engine. We have experienced catastrophic failure with a repair estimate pending of over $17,000. When the components failed, our driver was on a dangerous section of road. He was not struck by other traffic, but was left stranded for 7 hours. Our company has purchased 6 of these Ford F250 with 6.7L engines. Ford needs to issue a recall on these systems.
NHTSA #11617408
I was driving my truck with no prior issues nor check engine light warnings, suddenly my truck began to lose speed, warning light came on instrument panel stating something to the effect of reduced power, I heard a loud noise (similar to the sound of a tire blown), as I looked out of the drivers side window I observed flames coming from the left front fender well. I was able to pull out of traffic coasting off into the median. Once in the median My wife and myself had to evacuate the truck immediately for our own safety. the engine compartment was rapidly becoming fully involved with fire. Attempted to extinguish fire with three fire extinguishers, called 911 and waited on fire department to arrive. My truck is now a total lose, I have read that your department has received similar issues that I have described.I felt it necessary to report my issue to hopefully help resolve this issue with Ford trucks.

a/c blower fan blowing irregular cutting out and returning to blow. eventually stopped and replaced the blower, still not working. took to local mechanic pressed on fuses and relays and blower worked for a day. took to another shop to get second opinion and to repair issue. same thing checked fuses and said vehicle was working as planed. 1 day later same issue no air. returned to same shop to re investigate issue, claimed wiring harness and fuse box under hood to be replaced. (remove dash, remove freon, flush system, refill with freon, run wiring around front of engine compartment, reinstall all the above for 6k) all of this for a melted fuse (#43) and a possible burnt wire. if new harness is same gauged wiring, then what is stop from another burning issue? picked up truck for another opinion to repairing or replacing harness. at this time still no air and worried it may start a fire from burning again.

We are experiencing issues with the AC / Radio Control Head in our 2019 Ford F250 Super Duty, Crew-Cab Truck. Some of the controls for the AC unit are inoperable specifically the re-circulation control. As a result, the AC system is delivering humid air, and the system is also delivering extremely unpleasant odors into the cab of the vehicle. Some more serious than others including, exhaust fumes, engine compartment oil and gas odors, and sewage odors when stopped at an intersection. This has been going on for over 6 months now and the local dealership including Ford customer Service continue to inform me the part is on back order. After researching this further, it appears Ford is experiencing this problem with their Explorers, and it has become a recall for this model. This has become a serious issue for us as we experience nausea, headaches and our clothing absorbs these odors causing ongoing discomfort. This is my work truck, and I have associates and customers in my vehicle. It has caused me unwanted stress and tension as a result of these issues. I believe this is occurring with other F-Series trucks as it is noticeably clear there are no parts available. I have called several dealerships throughout Arizona and across the country, no one has them available. One dealership had a part in Michigan however, they were holding it for a customer. They advised me their customer is experiencing the same thing we are with our Truck. I believe this should be registered as a recall for this problem considering what I have uncovered during my research. This is a serious problem that will only get worse if not resolved soon.

Subject: Urgent Safety Concern Regarding Rocker Arm Failure on My Truck I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a critical issue with the rocker arms on my 2019 Ford F250 6.7L Diesel which has caused significant safety concerns. I believe that the failure of these parts poses a serious risk to both the driver and others on the road. Recently, I experienced a failure of the rocker arms while driving. This unexpected breakdown caused engine misfire, loss of power, and unusual noise and severely impacted the performance of the vehicle. It is concerning that such a vital component could fail under normal driving conditions, compromising the engine’s functionality and potentially causing complete engine failure. The failure of the rocker arms is not only costly in terms of repair but also represents a significant safety hazard. Should the issue worsen while driving, it could lead to sudden loss of power, stalling, or even damage to other critical engine components, putting the driver at risk of an accident. This danger is exacerbated if the failure occurs while driving at high speeds or in hazardous conditions. I strongly urge you to investigate the underlying cause of these failures and provide a resolution as soon as possible. Given the serious safety implications, I request a prompt response with information on how this issue will be addressed, whether through a recall, repair, or replacement of the defective parts, and a review of any related safety concerns.

Ford Diesel 250 flat out stalled while driving on a very congested Highway. Full tank of Diesel. No warning. Complete stall at 65MPH, no brakes, no power steering, no lights. Was almost killed when the truck almost crashed into a bus. Happened (4) more times as we made our way back home. Internet search shows that Ford Motor Company is fully aware of this common failure of their fuel system. Federal regulators need to pressure Ford for a Recall before someone is killed

Only had my truck for 6 months, my suspension is worn out causing a known issue known as death wobble. I was driving at 65mph with my family and extreme shaking occurred. Yes by a Ford dealership. Yes the truck and the area was inspected and confirmed to needing replaced parts. No warning lamps/lights appeared due to it being mechanical, I went to another shop after i already took it in to Ford, and they told me a missing component that may be the leading issue of it was deleted never there to begin with when i bought the vehicle at the ford dealership. •Truck details (2019 F-250 XLT 4x4, 88k miles) •Death wobble at highway speeds •Firestone confirmed factory stabilizer was deleted •DEF system not working •Worn tie rods, drag link •Low oil at purchase (indicating no inspection) •Dealer is refusing to help •Ford Corporate says there’s no active program — but i know TSB 19-2274 and CSP 20N04 exist

Tire size LT285/75 R18 Component/System Failure: The front suspension and steering damper malfunctioned, leading to the "death wobble." This issue also caused excessive tire wear due to the violent vibrations and instability in the steering system. The components are available for inspection, and the worn tires and replaced parts can be provided if necessary. Safety Risk: The excessive tire wear, combined with the loss of steering control due to the wobble, significantly increased the risk of a blowout or loss of traction. At highway speeds, this made it difficult to control the vehicle, posing a serious risk to myself and others on the road. Problem Reproduced/Confirmed: Yes, the problem, including excessive tire wear and steering instability, was reproduced and confirmed by a Ford dealership service center during their inspection. Vehicle/Component Inspection: The vehicle was inspected by the Ford dealership, where they identified the steering and suspension issues that contributed to the wobble and tire wear. No other entities, such as insurance or police, have inspected the vehicle since no accidents occurred. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: There were no warning lamps or messages before the failure. However, prior to the issue, symptoms included rapid and uneven tire wear, increased steering vibrations, and vehicle instability, particularly after hitting bumps or potholes.
