Vehicle surges sometimes and repeatedly from a stop, with delayed acceleration; very dangerous when merging or moving from a stopped position into a flow of traffic (such as turning right on red). Vehicle sometimes will not move at all under acceleration, as if it has no gas at all. Vehicle is under recall for both of these issues related to the engine, but "no remedy available." Latest incident of surging was less than a week ago. Happens 2-3 times a day on average. Vehicle will occasionally randomly run rough at stoplights / idle speed. I have contacted Toyota regarding a buyback and they stated they "could not offer a buyback because they have not had adequate chances to fix the problem." So they have told me they cannot fix the problem, but won't buy back the truck because they have not had a chance to fix the problem (that they cannot fix). They have since stonewalled me and no longer respond to communications.

After pulling the vehicle over to the side of the road, I attempted to restart the engine. The engine failed to turn over and start. The truck towed into a local dealership and is waiting inspection.

I have a 2024 Hybrid Toyota Tundra Equipped with V35-A- FTS 3.4 L Twin- Turbo V6. This motor is the same engine as the non hybrid motors included in the recall. There was recently a defect information report sent out on May 20th 2026 from Toyota stating that there is an issue with the main #1 bearing and the newer motors are now being installed with upgraded new bearing indicating that all motors, hybrid or non hybrid prior to August of 2024 have this defect that could cause engine failure. The only reason this motor is not included in recall is Toyota saying that it not a safety issue because of the electrical motor is sufficient to get it off the road. I tow a boat and various trailers and feel like at highway speeds in traffic a failure of the main engine, with very limited assistance from electrical motor could cause a potential serious crash leading to serious injury or death. I am filing this to ask NHTSA to do the right thing and have Toyota to expand the recall and include the Hybrids as it will only be a matter of time before before something will happen.

I have a 2024 Hybrid Toyota Tundra which shares the same engine that has undergone a NHTSA recall. I do not believe that the defect has been satisfactorily addressed to mitigate the risk of catastrophic engine failure in the V6 engine. I would like the recall to include the hybrid models as well for this well known and documented engine failure risk. I have not yet had any problems with the engine yet and am addressing the other separate recalls for this model. From a safety and liability perspective, I feel that Toyota has an obligation to provide the same warranty extension assurance and if needed, engine replacement as the gasoline only variant.

I was driving on the freeway in my Toyota Tundra when it suddenly shut off completely. It was honestly terrifying because my first thought was getting rear-ended in traffic. After about 15 seconds, the truck randomly turned back on by itself, but the whole situation really shook me up. A vehicle that new shouldn’t be doing something that dangerous.

While driving to dinner in Bluefield< West Virginia on Saturday evening, I came to an intersection where I was making a left hand turn with a green arrow on the light. As I approached the intersection, I slowed to something under 10 miles an hour and proceeded to initiate a left hand turn. As I rolled onto the throttle, there was no response from the engine for approximately 15 seconds. The engine remained at idle as I coasted through the turn. I continued applying throttle with no response until I reached approximately 50% of throttle pedal travel, at which time the engine sputtered then accelerated rapidly. This is not the first instance of this issue. It has happened on at least 4 different occasions in the past. The issue is intermittent and could easily result in an accident if it occurs while pulling out into traffic - which is what happened the first time it happened to me with the oncoming traffic being forced to take evasive action.

Incident Description: While traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle’s engine suffered a catastrophic internal seizure and shut down completely without any prior warning. This resulted in an immediate loss of motive power in the middle of high-speed traffic. Because the engine died, I also experienced an immediate loss of power steering assist and power brake vacuum, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver to avoid a rear-end collision and struggled to steer the truck toward the shoulder while other vehicles swerved around me at high speeds. Safety Hazard & Manufacturing Defect: This failure is identical to the conditions described in NHTSA Safety Recall 24V-381 (Toyota Recall 25TA14). The dealership's diagnosis at AutoNation Toyota Weston confirmed that the bearings are discolored and "spun," which is a direct consequence of the manufacturing debris that Toyota has already admitted exists in these engine blocks. Bad-Faith Warranty Denial: Despite the life-threatening nature of this event, the dealership is attempting to blame "abuse" based on a software log from the Brake Override System. They are ignoring the fact that a metallurgical failure of the main bearings has no mechanical link to pedal input. Using a safety software record to deny a repair for a known manufacturing defect that nearly caused a fatal accident on the highway is unacceptable. Requested Action: I demand that this case be immediately reviewed by Toyota’s safety team. My vehicle manifested the exact defect described in the federal recall during a high-risk situation. While driving, I noticed that the vehicle seemed sluggish. Shortly after, I experienced grinding and knocking. The engine then stalled when I came to a traffic light. Fearing for my safety, I was able to get the engine to re-start to be able to pull off the road into a parking lot. At this point, the engine was barely running and making a ton of noise. There were no warning lights prior or after the incident took place. The vehicle was towed to my local Toyota Dealership who performed an inspection and determined that the Short block needs to be replaced, despite the contamination risk of other components. I have demanded that Toyota replace the engine with a complete new assembly, however, they are declining to do so.

I am reporting a latent manufacturing defect in my 2024 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX (Hybrid). This vehicle is equipped with the V35A-FTS engine, which has been officially recalled in non-hybrid Tundra models (NHTSA Recall 25V767) due to internal machining debris that causes catastrophic engine failure. Current Situation: Although my vehicle has not yet experienced a total engine seizure, it contains the exact same engine architecture and manufacturing origin as the recalled units. I am filing this complaint because Toyota has excluded the Hybrid models from the safety recall, citing that the electric motor acts as a safety backup. Safety Concern: My safety and the safety of my passengers are at risk because this "safety backup" claim is unproven and potentially false. Data from other owners suggests that a catastrophic V35A engine failure triggers a system-wide "Hybrid System Malfunction," which can disable all motive power, power steering, and braking assist. Driving a vehicle with a known "ticking time bomb" defect—where the engine could seize at highway speeds—creates a high-risk environment for a high-speed collision. I am submitting a safety defect concern regarding Toyota’s V35A 3.4L twin-turbo V6 manufacturing defect involving machining debris contaminating crankshaft main bearings. Toyota initiated a safety recall in May 2024 for MY 2022–2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX vehicles, citing debris left in the engine during manufacturing that can lead to bearing failure, engine failure, loss of motive power, and increased crash risk. In November 2025, Toyota expanded this recall to include MY 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra, MY 2022–2024 Lexus LX, and MY 2024 Lexus GX vehicles, citing the same defect mechanism. Despite this expansion, Toyota has excluded i-FORCE MAX hybrid vehicles from the recall population. My vehicle is a 2024 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX, VIN [XXX] , build date 02/2024, with 3,667 miles. It uses the same V35A 3.4L twin-turbo engine architecture and manufacturing process implicated in the recall. The presence of a hybrid electric motor does not eliminate the underlying defect mechanism (engine-internal debris contamination) nor the risk of sudden engine failure, loss of power under load, or unsafe drivability conditions. On 11/28/2025 I was driving to work and all the warning lights on my 2024 Toyota lit up and the engine shut completely off. I had the vehicle towed to Performance Toyota Dealership in Bountiful, UT. I learned that there is a recall for the engine on these vehicles. The vehicle is still under factory warranty and had 34k miles on it. After a week of my truck sitting at the dealership they still are waiting on a decision from “Corporate” on whether they want to replace the engine under the factory warranty or they want to replace the engine under the recall which they are saying “no remedy” has been put out on the 2024 Tundra recall yet. The outcome of either remedy is a new engine. I also asked about just trading the truck in for a newer model which when I asked they took the Blue Book trade in value down $10k since it had a recall on it. This is no fault of my own and this is terrible customer service from Toyota. I also received a loaner car from them which I cannot drive because I don’t meet the age requirement so my dad has to drive the loaner vehicle which he is very unhappy about since I’m having to borrow his new vehicle to drive back and forth to work and putting miles on his new car. This whole process is very frustrating and unfair to not have a decision made on the engine replacement or being treated fairly on a trade in. Thankfully there was no accident with injuries.

Toyota has just extended the engine recall for debris left in it thru the 2024 year model for all non-hybrid Tundra vehicles. This recall makes no sense the Hybrid vehicles have the exact same engine and therefore have the exact same safety issue. The claim they are not being recalled because they can still be powered by the hybrid system, but this is false. If the engine seizes from this debris it will render the vehicle inoperable and cause a safety issue too. Those with the Hybrid who have experienced the failure confirm the vehicle becomes inoperable. When they take it to Toyota if still under warranty they are only offered a short block rebuild and not the long block and turbos as all non-hybrid receive under the recall. Please look into this issue and force Toyota to extend the recall to both Hybrid and Non-Hybrid as they both have the same engine and pose the same safety risk to the driver and other vehicles on the road.

My 2024 Toyota Tundra imax hybrid started off with a knocking sound. I took it into a certified Toyota dealership to have it inspected. I was then told that they had ordered a part it needed to fix the problem. After not hearing back and the knocking getting louder. I reached back out and took it back for further inspection. They then told me that it needed a system update. After running the update, a couple of times later after diving the Tundra, it had a power issue when pushing the gas to accelerate. I then reached out to Toyota once again and took it back to be serviced. They told me that they test drove my truck and had no issues with acceleration. So I went and picked it up. Just a couple days after receiving my truck back, I was at an intersection with the blinking turn signal and attempted to take off when the truck completely stalled out. I had two cars almost crash into me, but barely missed! I started the truck back and went directly home. I then told Toyota about the situation and they told me to bring it back in. It then stalled again when I was taking it to the dealership. Once I got it back to the dealership and told them what happened, they said they would look into it. After they had it the first few days I never heard anything back, so I called to see what was going on with my truck. They told me that they were waiting to hear back from corporate Toyota for further directions from TAS. My truck then sat there for a few weeks. I kept reaching out to see what was going on and all they kept telling me is that they were working on it, and that they test drove the truck, but couldn’t get it to stall. I had the Toyota app on my phone, showing the mileage, and the mileage had never moved. Letting me know that they hadn’t actually test drove it. So after all of this, they never did any work on my truck. I was now scared to drive it, and honestly didn’t want it back.

I was at a stop sign making a left turn across four lanes of travel. I had a gap in traffic with ample time to make the left turn so I pressed on the gas pedal to begin the turn. The vehicle did not move forward upon me pressing the gas pedal. After about one second the vehicle finally moved. At that point cross traffic was closing in so I pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The vehicle lurched forward and the rear end broke loose causing me to fishtail the vehicle while making the turn. This delay in acceleration put me and my family at risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. I presented this information to the dealership mechanic and they told me that’s just how the gas pedals work in the tundra. That is not an acceptable answer. On Sunday November 30th, I was driving my 2024 Tundra with 30k miles on highway AZ-260 on my way back home to Phoenix. The stretch between Forest Lakes and Payson has an altitude drop of 2500 feet with many areas having a 7% drop. During this drive, my engine shut down with no warning while I was going 65 MPH on a mountain highway with a 7% decline in altitude. The truck had 5 people in it with no power brakes, no engine and going 65 MPH downhill. There was no warning at all. We were able to stop at a safe spot and called a tow truck. The engine started making a loud clanking noise. We had to arrange a ride for all five of us from Payson to Phoenix (~100 miles). This was a very scary situation and it left us shaken. This could have been catastrophic for an inexperienced driver. The truck is currently at AutoNation Toyota Tempe. It has been there for 5 weeks. The dealership told me it needed a new engine. I have now received the official letter mailed to me about the recall. I also called Toyota Corporate and they told me a remedy is not yet available. Not sure how long this is going to take for it to be resolved, but its very frustrating purchasing a new vehicle and having this issue. Any help would be appreciated. The Tundra is still under the factory warranty, plus I also purchased the Toyota extended warranty and Toyota maintenance package.

Severe throttle hesitation/lag when accelerating from a rolling stop for at least 2 seconds. This has happened at least 20 times since purchasing the vehicle in September 2024. I have noticed that putting the gear selector into ‘S’ manual mode seems to help considerably, therefore, this appears to be some form of a TCM problem. Numerous times (4-5) the truck has failed to accelerate from a rolling stop and/or a full stop. One time recently, I stopped and quickly tried to turn left onto another road. There is an occasional lag between when I press the accelerator to when the engine actually revs up. It's usually fairly minor at less than 1 second but today I was making a left turn on a busy road and the lag time was closer to 2-3 seconds and almost caused me to get T boned by two cars coming from my left. It is unknown exactly what causes the issue. But intermittently when taking off from a stop, the powertrain hesitates to respond to my input on the throttle. The hesitation lasts anywhere from half a second to a full second. This puts my safety and other driver’s safety at risk because I cannot reliably tell whether I will be able to pull out quickly and safely in front of an oncoming vehicle. The engine repair was a short block only, even thoe the main bearings spun and sent debis threw the engine. #1 rod went as well. Apon recieving the truck back, with in 200 miles, I've had the same hesitation with the engines as I had just before the first engine failed. Vehicle has two open Toyota safety recalls that have remained unresolved for over a year. NHTSA campaign 25V322 (manufacturer no. 25TB06) covers reverse lamp assembly corrosion. NHTSA campaign 25V767 (manufacturer no. 25TB14) covers a V35A engine manufacturing defect where leftover machining debris can damage the main bearing, leading to engine knocking, rough running, no-start, or loss of drive power while driving. No engine symptoms have occurred to date. However, the vehicle is used for rideshare and delivery work, meaning passengers and cargo are regularly on board while this known defect remains unremedied. The dealership stated it could not address the engine recall and directed me to Toyota corporate. Toyota corporate opened a case and confirmed no remedy is currently available for this recall. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer or manufacturer, as no repair or inspection procedure has yet been provided to perform one. No warning lamps or dashboard messages have been observed. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Concern: a known crash-risk engine defect (loss of drive power) has been acknowledged by the manufacturer for over a year with still no completed remedy, while the vehicle continues to be operated commercially with passengers.

I have only owned the truck since mid April of 2026. The truck has 12000 miles on it. I have only put 200 miles on the truck... 150 miles are driving to the dealership. Engine recall notification was sent out last week of May 2026. Still an open recall for reverse lights with no remedy. Took Tundra into dealer at the beginning of May 2026 to get two other "electronic/infotainment" system recalls repaired. I bought the truck used from a dealership. Had three open recalls (electronic x's 2 and reverse light). Got two of three fixed. A few weeks later I get the engine recall. Really Toyota... I took the truck to Maplewood Toyota on 5/28/26. There it sits waiting for repairs. I asked about getting out of the truck and my option was trade it in at KBB value ($45k-ish) I paid $57k and $3k for extended warranty for a total of $60k. I am not going to eat $15k on trading in the truck. Toyota should STOP selling vehicles with these engines NOW! These engines should not be on the road or being sold - PERIOD. Toyota still using the "debris" in engine from manufacturing in 2024 is criminal. We are talking about the debris issue in 2022, 2023, 2024 engines.... This is outright criminal. Shame on you Toyota. I am a Toyota buyer. I own a 2019 Corolla. My friends and family are also Toyota owners. This V35A engine is a complete failure and production should be stopped. I kick myself for not doing more research before buying the truck. I never would have purchased knowing the ongoing engine issues. My 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum (VIN [XXX] ) had multiple times where I had delayed throttle response which created close call of accident while turning. I researched my VIN and it is subject to Safety Recall 25TA14 for V35A engine stall due to manufacturing machining debris causing main bearing failure. Toyota has issued this recall but NO repair remedy is currently available. The authorized dealer (Ed Martin Toyota, Indianapolis, Indiana) has confirmed they do not have authority to perform the repair and cannot provide a remedy timeline. I have surrendered the vehicle because I do not feel safe operating it. I am without transportation indefinitely. This vehicle has also been subject to four additional safety recalls: 26TA02, 25TA10, 25TA06, and 24TA02. Very commonly when the truck is “cold” after sitting overnight, the truck fails to accelerate from a stop while pushing the accelerator pedal down gradually (such as when leaving a stop sign at an intersection. This lack of acceleration makes me feel a loss of control as I cannot get the truck to accelerate. For example, driving out of my neighborhood into oncoming road traffic I feel as if the truck doesn’t sense my pedal input. The truck just “floats” for at least a few seconds before the pedal reaches a point where the truck recognizes the input and activates acceleration. I can see this situation causing a safety hazard such as when trying to gain speed from a stop. The dealerships says it’s a non-issue and normal for a turbo-charged engine. I have owned cars with turbo-charged engines and have never experienced this bad of lag before. I don’t feel this is normal. My truck currently has no engine issues and is maintained routinely.

I am an automotive engineer. I have been involved with vehicle development programs in the disabled vehicle conversion community for over two decades and have numerous patents in that space. I have been involved with vehicle testing and calibration as well. My vehicle demonstrates a SIGNIFICANT HESITATION when the accelerator is pressed that is not consistent. I live in a roundabout dense location where timing an entry into a roundabout is easy using a normal vehicle. The 1 to 2 second hesitation where there is throttle input and no action at all from the vehicle (engine does not rev, no motive power observed) is very dangerous. I took this up with Toyota and my vehicle was checked out and "learning transmission" memory was wiped clean with me being the only driver was the remedy. The issue got better for a short time but is back and this morning I pulled out thinking there was plenty of time in front of a bus a good distance away and the lack of motive power for a full second or two resulted in a near miss. This vehicle has about 20,000 miles and was purchased by me new. There are NO WARNING LAMPS, and no DTCs thrown when this happens. I have seen several videos where people cite the same experience and a website where there is a class action lawsuit in place regarding this issue. This is completely separate from the engine recall issue. I feel as though this issue is a significant safety risk.

I am writing to formally document a series of serious safety incidents and ongoing concerns regarding my 2024 Toyota Tundra, which I believe reflect a critical design flaw and a failure by Toyota to act in accordance with its obligations to customer safety and product reliability. In August 2025, while driving on the interstate with my minor child in the vehicle, I experienced a sudden and unexpected engine malfunction. The failure required me to swerve off the road at high speed, nearly resulting in a serious collision. This incident placed both my life and my child's life in immediate danger. The vehicle was towed via Toyota’s SOS service to Green’s Toyota of Lexington, KY. Upon evaluation, I was informed by Service Manager Justin that the issue was consistent with the engine failures that led to a recall of the 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra models. However, because my 2024 model has not yet been included in the recall—despite sharing the same apparent defect—I was told that Toyota would rebuild the engine rather than replace it. I expressed strong concerns regarding the safety and long-term reliability of a rebuilt engine in a new vehicle. I was reassured that a rebuilt engine would be “just as good,” despite clear evidence to the contrary based on subsequent events. As a result of this dangerous failure and Toyota’s inadequate response, I submitted a formal buyback request to Toyota Customer Care, citing serious and ongoing safety concerns. The dealership nevertheless indicated I would likely be denied a buyback, which I found deeply troubling given the known defect and the high-risk circumstances involved. approaching a round about at a slow rate of speed, prior to entering I noticed there was time to safely enter the round about ahead of a car also entering the roundabout from another direction. I pushed the accelerator pedal to about 30% at the time I choose to enter the traffic circle and attempted to enter. The truck did nothing in response except keep rolling forward due to the momentum I already had while approaching the round about / traffic circle. After about 2 seconds, I pressed the pedal to about 70%. I am experiencing an ongoing issue since the truck was new: the engine hesitates upon acceleration at any speed. When stopped this lag in throttle response makes it difficult to navigate in heavy or unpredictable traffic as the vehicle does not response to the pedal instantly and making intentional sudden speed changes is all but impossible to do safely. Depressing the pedal heavy to try and hasten the response makes the truck surge into hard and fast acceleration, worsening the issue. I have discussed this with the dealer and they said this is “normal” for this truck, and I have heard the same from numerous other 3rd generation Tundra owners. This is a safety issue because I don’t have adequate control of the vehicle’s dynamics as the computer is overriding my control of the acceleration, presumably to improve fuel economy. I have 23k miles on the vehicle and the tires have prematurely failed. I have gone to Toyota and they have referred me to Falken as they do not handle tire wear issues. In reviewing with Falken, this is a common issues with Toyota and they are blaming the fact that Toyota sold the Tundra's out of alignment to customer, resulting in significant tire wear on outer edges and on flat surface tread of tires. I have again escalated this with Toyota but they will not take ownership and neither will Falken. I am at a loss and I cannot believe that a tire would already need to be replaced at such low mileage. This tire should not be put on anyone's vehicle if it cannot be verified as offering any kind of warranty, resulting in unsafe conditions.

I own a 2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition equipped with Falken Wildpeak A/T 265/60R20 112H tires (original equipment). The vehicle currently has 17,000 miles, and the tires have been rotated at regular intervals according to Toyota’s maintenance schedule. Despite proper care, the right front tire has shown excessive wear on the outer edge. I am filing this complaint regarding a premature material failure on my 2024 Toyota Tundra. The factory-applied smoked overlay finish on the front grille is peeling and separating in large chunks, exposing the chrome underneath. This is occurring at approximately 46,000 miles and less than two years of ownership. This is not normal wear and tear, fading, or minor cosmetic deterioration. The finish is physically delaminating from the grille surface, which appears to indicate a defect in the manufacturing or application process of the factory-installed material. The vehicle has been properly maintained, has not been modified, and has not been subjected to misuse or environmental damage beyond normal driving conditions. Toyota and the dealership denied coverage, citing mileage limitations and categorizing the issue as cosmetic wear despite the obvious premature failure of the factory finish.

Driving 35 milers per hour down side road with no cars in front or behind us, and no cars passing us. The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. I can confirm there was no chip in sunpanel prior to this happening. This is a huge safety issue. If the cloth panel was pulled back exposing the glass into the vehicle we would have glass stuck or embedded in our heads and we could have caused a major accident. The loud noise sounded like a gun shot and the driver swerved the car and slammed on the breaks because the sound was so loud.

While driving down the highway at ~70 mph, the truck's powertrain suddenly shut off. The electronics still worked, but the RPMs dropped to zero. I was forced to pull off to the side of the road, where I tried to turn off and turn back on. I am the second owner of a 2024 Toyota Tundra that is branded as a manufacturer buyback/lemon. The first owner had the engine short block replaced at around 31,000 miles due to bearing failure. I later bought this truck at around 36,000 miles specifically because Toyota stated that the engine problem had been fixed with the short-block replacement. I relied on that representation and believed I was buying a vehicle whose defect had been properly remedied. Toyota has now issued safety recall 25V767 / 25TA14 (“engine may stall during driving”) for this same V35A engine, including service short blocks. I am concerned that the earlier short-block repair either did not fully fix the underlying defect or may have introduced additional problems. At around 41–42k miles, the truck developed starting issues and then completely failed to start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an intersection in town. The vehicle would not crank or start and had to be towed out of traffic, which I consider a serious safety risk. The dealer ultimately replaced a 50-amp fusible link, the 12V battery, and the starter. The total repair bill was about $2,100 before my third-party extended warranty paid a portion of it. Even with that coverage, this is an extremely expensive repair for a relatively new truck that has already had major engine work. Now I have engine history, electrical/starter problems, and I do not know what other issues may appear. I trusted Toyota’s assurance that the engine problem was fixed, and that is why I felt comfortable buying a branded lemon; this now feels like I was misled or cheated. I am also aware of ongoing engine and reliability complaints on newer 2024–2025 Tundras, which suggests there may be a broader design or quality issue. At a stop, there is a delay when accelerating. It almost feels like it is "thinking" before it starts to go. There are no warning lamps. It is unsafe when pulling out of highway because of the uncertainty of when the vehicle feels like its going to go. Some call it turbolag but it feels more than that.

Both front tires have premature wear to the outer edge. Additionally, all four tires have warned to 3/32" with less than 30,000 miles on them. Vehicle has been serviced by Toyota every 5,000 miles. All components have been inspected and per Toyota the vehicle alignment is within spec per manufacture. That being the case, the tires shouldn't wear unless there is a manufacture defect. Toyota nor Falken wants to honor the warranty or take responsibility for the defect of the OEM equipment. Toyota has a TSB for the Tundra alignment with 18" tires but refuse to add trucks with the 20" tires. They keep pointing the finger at each other leaving the customer with zero resolution. Others have replaced the tires but having the same issue reoccur. This is a safety concern as premature wear can contribute to poor cornering in curves, turns, and handling in wet or icy conditions.

Following the dealer’s recommendation, I performed an alignment, and all scheduled maintenance, including tire rotations, has been completed at authorized Toyota dealerships. On [XXX], I submitted a warranty claim at Toyota Carlsbad. Ken McDonald inspected the tires and took photos, but no diagnostic work was performed — no alignment check, no suspension inspection. A month later, Toyota USA denied the claim based solely on Ken McDonald’s verbal opinion that “the problem is with the tires,” without any technical evaluation or factual basis. This is unacceptable. My issue clearly matches Toyota Service Campaign 24TD01, which confirms that certain 2022–2024 Tundra models may experience premature outer edge tire wear due to factory misalignment. While traveling on US Highway 95 between Lewiston and Riggins, Idaho, a 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro with approximately 18,000 miles experienced a sudden loss of engine power while descending a mountain grade with multiple curves. The driver reported hearing abnormal engine noises immediately before the loss of power. At the same time, the brake pedal became extremely hard to depress and the vehicle did not decelerate as expected, requiring substantially increased braking effort. The vehicle was carrying family members and was traveling on a winding downhill section of highway adjacent to steep terrain. Due to the loss of power and increased braking effort, the occupants feared the vehicle would be unable to stop safely. Fortunately, a roadside pullout area was available, and the driver was able to steer the vehicle into the pullout and bring it to a stop without a collision. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Toyota dealership for inspection. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle with a catastrophic engine failure requiring engine replacement. The failed engine remains in the possession of the dealership and should be available for inspection. Approximately five days before this incident, the vehicle had undergone routine maintenance, including an oil change and inspection at a Toyota dealership. The vehicle had also previously been presented for brake pulsation concerns and other drivability-related complaints. The vehicle was returned to service and represented as operating normally. No collision occurred and no physical injuries were reported; however, the incident created a significant safety risk because the loss of engine power occurred while descending a mountain highway and the driver experienced substantially increased braking effort while attempting to stop the vehicle.

2024 Toyota Tundra experienced a serious safety event. While travelling on the highway at 60mph speeds in traffic when the truck suddenly blinked a loss of steering warning light then immediately blinked engine failure warning light. The truck lost power and the engine completely shut down in traffic going down a long, steep hill. I was able to reach the bottom and pull over but the truck would not restart. I had to have the truck towed to a Toyota dealership near my home.

[XXX], [XXX] PM. 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid (i-FORCE MAX, V35A engine), 36k miles, original owner. Clear, dry pavement, evening daylight. Exiting [XXX] westbound at [XXX] , I merged into the far right lane at the second light for a right turn. A vehicle was stopped ahead at the light. Traveling 15-20 mph, I applied the brake for controlled deceleration. Right foot squarely on brake, not touching accelerator. Vehicle did not decelerate as expected. For 3-4 seconds the brake felt unresponsive — pedal felt soft and loose, lacking normal firmness. I pressed the brake fully to the floor. A dashboard warning appeared: “gas and brake pedals are being pressed simultaneously.” I was not, and had not been, touching the accelerator. I then heard engine RPM increase audibly, consistent with an acceleration command, while my foot remained fully on the brake. I felt forward thrust working against my braking. The warning cleared and brakes engaged. Vehicle stopped approximately half a car length from the vehicle ahead, narrowly avoiding rear-end collision. Automatic Emergency Braking did NOT engage despite conditions clearly meeting its criteria — stationary vehicle directly ahead, my vehicle approaching at 15-20 mph with no observable deceleration for 3-4 seconds. No collision warning sounded; no auto-braking intervened. Notably, this same AEB has previously engaged falsely in benign situations (e.g., backing near low vegetation), suggesting reliability/calibration issues. Prior manufacturer notice: On [XXX] at 15,412 miles, I reported to Camelback Toyota, Phoenix (RO #[XXX], on file): “vehicle lurches forward going from reverse to drive (now more consistent)” — dispositioned by tech 10210 as “vehicle is operating to spec,” no diagnosis performed. I previously reported the safety issue truck pulls to the right after roughly 20 alignments. I leave the keep lane assist off because it exacerbates the safety issue. Recently, while trying to self diagnose the problem, I turned on the system before using an on ramp to I820. While accelerating on the on ram, the keep lane assist caused the truck to swerve left and then right. I immediately turned off the feature and the symptom stopped. This is a serious safety issue and can can injury and harm to the public.

Prior to the oil change service, the front AC vents were functioning properly. Immediately after the dealership serviced the vehicle, the front vents stopped blowing air. This issue was not present before the visit. Regardless of whether the dealership believes an oil change “should not” affect the AC system, the fact remains that the problem arose directly after the vehicle was in their possession. (In 93 degree weather) Diagnosis determined that the AC front air outlet servo motor was stuck off and that the AC blender box would have to be replaced to remedy the issue.

In the 2024 tundra if there is a camera misalignment for the 360 degree cameras or reverse cameras. It sets off a code that makes the trailer brake say disconnected even when connected. I took the vehicle in and had the cameras recalibrated then the brake worked. On my last trip pulling a 4,000 lb trailer the cameras came out of alignment so my trailer brake stoped working mid trip. This is a safety issue that can cause a accident.

Suspected driveshaft carrier bearing, U-joint, or engine main bearing failure. Recall 25V-767 (V35A engine bearing debris, 2022–2024 Tundra) — VIN recall status to be confirmed at [XXX] . Component available for inspection. 2 — Highway vibration 40–70 mph: Constant speed-dependent vibration in steering wheel, seat, and floor. Worsening and expanding in speed range over time. Impairs steering feedback — direct safety hazard at highway speed. Suspected wheel bearing or hub failure. No warning lamps present at any time. 3 — Braking: Violent vibration during heavy deceleration, downhill braking, and rapid stops. Severely impairs controlled stopping and risks loss of vehicle control. Consistent with rotor degradation per Toyota TSB (Nov. 2025, 2022–2026 Tundra). Repair history: OEM tires replaced at 20,000 miles — abnormal camber-induced outside shoulder wear. Toyota issued a Limited Service Campaign for this identical defect on 2022–2023 models but explicitly excluded 2024. All 4 tires replaced twice. Multiple alignments, balancings, and rotations performed at L&S Toyota, Beckley, WV (3+ dealer visits) and an independent tire chain (3+ visits). No resolution. Defect is mechanical, not tire-related. No DTCs or warning lights at any visit. Safety risk: Braking vibration risks loss of control on downgrades and emergency stops. Highway vibration impairs steering feedback over extended driving. Towing vibration creates trailer instability on public roads. My vehicle sustained a flat tire after driving. I was able to make it home safely. Vehicle was taken to dealer who found no evidence of a nail. This is the second incident. The first incident occurred while I was driving but thankfully I Was able to pull into a gas station. After research I found out that the tires on the new Toyota tundra have had weak side wall issues causing the tires the explode or wear out prematurely. I have tire warranty through Toyota. I believe Toyota offered this warranty due to their knowledge of the tires being defective. Other issues have been the wheel alignment and premature thread wear which is also a known problem with these vehicles.

I went to the dealership near me to get the following recall completed: Manufacturer Recall Number26TA02, NHTSA Recall Number26V038. The recall was stated to say that the rear backup camera would sometimes not show despite being shifted into reverse, which I had experienced multiple times. After the dealership performed the software update to fix this issue, I have experienced the issue multiple times since. So the issue is not fixed and the update from Toyota failed.

The engine lost complete power. This is a 2024 Toyota Tundra I=Max Force Hybrid. The low Oil Pressure, Hybrid Malfunction, Check Engine lights all came on. i lost all power, steering, brakes, and had no Hybrid assist. I was nearly hit from the back. I have read about all the engine problems from the 22 and 23 year models and recalls are out. There are no recalls for the Hybrid 2024 engines, but this looks the same as what i am reading.

The brakes squeal when reversing and sometimes when you’re driving forward coming to a stop. It has done this since the day I picked it up at the dealership. The dealership says there’s no remedy for it yet. The next thing is the front fog lights also draw moisture just like the rear reverse lights. Dealership says there’s no remedy for it or fix for it. I’ve had to have the radiator replaced twice in this vehicle and it only has 44,000 miles on it. The dealership says it’s a factory defect. Not sure if that’s true or not. It was not covered under warranty so I had to spend $200 to use my extended warranty. I do not think that is right it should’ve been covered under the manufacturers warning, especially if it was a manufacturer defect. The last but most important thing is the lag when you give it gas. This happens from a complete stop or also like if you’re trying to accelerate to get on the highway you can press it nice and slow and it won’t takeoff or you can mash on it all the way to the floor and it still takes a few seconds and then kind of vibrates and pops like it’s trying to skip gears before it takes off and goes. Dealership also says there’s nothing wrong with it. I believe it is a factory defect or some kind of wiring problem. The reason why I think it is a computer or wiring issue is that if you put the vehicle in sport mode, it will not do it coming from a complete stop. It does do it when you’re getting on the highway even in sport mode. I am on a few Facebook forums and I see this problem where people report this problem all the time and ask how to fix it. I would like information on how to get Toyota to buy my vehicle back. These trucks have had so many issues with engine recalls, engine replacement, and other issues that are an actual safety concern and I do not feel like it is a safe vehicle to be traveling with my family. Parked on incline. Vehicle off. Vehicle automatically locked doors without operator intervention. Returned to vehicle. Vehicle beeped with associated lights flash when operator touched driver's extenal door handle. IMMEDIATELY the vehicle began rolling backwards downhill towards oncoming traffic. I was able to hop on running board, jump into driver's seat, press brake and start vehicle. The brakes engaged and the vehicle stopped before hitting oncoming traffic. Dealer found CODE P15AD87. I have had an issue several times which nearly resulted in a traffic accident. The truck has a sudden loss of acceleration where the gas pedal is completely dead. It last a few seconds and then goes back to normal. This has nearly caused several accidents where I could not properly accelerate while traffic was heading in my direction. After talking with other Tundra owners, I am not the only one with this issue. This needs immediate attention. If it is not fixed as soon as possible, I fear that someone will get seriously injured or killed. Please take this matter seriously. I suspect it may have something to do with the pre collision sensor system on the truck. It seems that it happens when there is a slight grade or dip in the road. Perhaps the sensors are at a lower angle due to the dip, making it think there is an object it will hit. The Toyota service centers don’t appear to know why this is happening and cannot reproduce the issue in a short visit.

The high speed on the wipers is absurdly under powered. It is truly pathetic. The equivalent of low speed on every other vehicle on the road. You can NOT continue to drive in even a minor downpour, safely. Those who insist on doing so WILL cause, or be involved in crashes. Vehicle hesitates to accelerate from stop or slow roll when pedal is engaged. This hesitation nearly caused a collision when attempting a left-hand turn in heavy traffic. Problem can be reproduced easily and is exacerbated when on an incline. It has not been confirmed by dealer or service center. Occurs regardless of whether auto start/stop feature is enabled or not. Putting transmission in "S" mode and manually down shifting to first gear appears to prevent the issue. Known issue with these trucks apparently. Occasional throttle lag after stopping at a stop sign, with little response from the gas pedal. On november/december of this month pulling out into a main road with traffic coming, I stepped on the gas and experienced a complete "dead pedal". I stepped on the gas and had 0 response from the truck staying at 5-10 MPH. With cars now coming towards me quickly as I was not moving I floored the gas pedal and had 0 response for another 2-3 seconds until finally the truck jolted at an extreme rate of speed. *Also have a dash cam that recorded in the incident of me flooring it with some vulgar words as cars were coming and the truck was not moving at all.

Both passenger seats by controls plastic cracking. Infotainment center blacks out and marker bars and back up lines for both back up and front parking have disappeared. GPS even when linked to my phone screen will black out but phone gps will still work. I have complained about this multiple times. Toyota did a factory reset on it and didn’t fix the issue took it back and a tech had to re-install program said the Infotainment center has a known issue where it forgets the program. I also informed Toyota about the engine seems to be really sluggish when at a complete stop and then start again taking a few seconds to go along with shifting hard from stop and go. Toyota did say they saw what I saw and this usually happens when people double foot pedals. I told them I don’t do that. I am frustrated and don’t know what to do I have a 72k truck that just turned 17k miles on it with a lot of issues what will I have to deal with down the road once the warranty is up? I love Toyota but this time seems like I got a lemon from Toyota with all the issues and continued rising issues.

The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in front the detached garage, the vehicle caught on fire and the incident was caught on the neighbor's camera at 4:31 AM. The neighbor then informed the contact of the incident. The contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire and the fire was mainly coming out of the gas pillar area. The contact stated that the entire vehicle had burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the scene and was in the process of being totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided vehicle rental assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it would take up to 30 days for a field investigator to inspect the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that it could take up to 45-60 days to determine whether there was liability. The failure mileage was approximately 13,900.

I feel a slight thud when hitting exactly 40MPH. This happens in Normal, Sport, and Echo. I can feel the thud from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I think it is a transmission fault since it happens exactly at 40 every time, even on smooth roads.

The truck has a hesitation or lag at stop signs every day, every stop sign it's like the transmission doesn't know what to do and doesn't shift into 1st unless you come to a complete stop for several seconds. Hit the throttle and nothing is happening. Even more scary thing that has happened about 8x so far is when you are stopped at an intersection and either need to wait for traffic to proceed across the road or if you are at a stop sign and waiting to merge into flowing traffic the truck will let you accelerate into traffic but then the throttle just goes dead. You can push the gas pedal all you want and the truck is just dead in the water for several seconds. Motor stays running and everything the throttle just wont work and you have to be very careful because when it suddenly comes back on if you have the pedal down to the floor it'll suddenly give you full power. It has almost caused me to get tboned 3x now and almost rear ended and then people are screaming at you and creating road rage because they think I just pulled out and stopped on purpose. I've gotten to the point I go to stop lights because I don't trust the truck to merge into flowing traffic. It feels to me like the crash avoidance is sensing something and cutting throttle but it doesn't beep or set off anything indicating that's what's happening. Dealer just always says they can not duplicate the issue. I'm going to mark 7/8/25 as the date that it's happend as I have that one written down but it did happen as recently as last week also I just don't remember the exact date.
