Tires2 quejas

This is a 2024 Toyota Prius prime lease in February 2024. I went to our trusted local car shop for our annual inspection, and was told that we need to replace all four tires and we’re just passed 24,000 miles on our odometer. We are two seniors living in New York State and we only drive on paved roads. We believe this is a failure both of Toyota and Toyota for choosing these tires on this particular model. We were told we need to spend over $1000 to replace tires on a car we do not own. Toyota pointed us in the direction of Toyo, and Toyo pointed us in the direction of Toyota. This is unacceptable and we do not want to pay $1000 for tires that should not be worn out after 24,000 miles with normal driving. We’d like to get some satisfaction on this issue.

Electrical System2 quejas

Since Nov 23, 2024 I have had three occasions where the 12 volt battery for the ICE has depleted leaving me stranded. The only indication of the problem is the car will not start. In my last incident I had to charge the battery (disconnected from the car) but inadvertently closed the hatch. Since the car uses electronic locks the only way to open the hatch is to use the emergency release that is located under the rear deck and must use a screw driver to release. This is inherently dangerous since no practical escape possible in an emergency.

Car with only 7000 miles on it. Took to dealer for low 12 volt battery warning and was told nothing was wrong a few months ago. Was stranded with vehicle in 95+ degree heat when 12volt battery went dead and Toyota Care said it would be 90 minutes before help could come. This is a SAFETY issue. I’m [XXX]. It’s not a good thing to be stranded in the heat. Many 2024 owners are having this problem. They have had to carry a jumper with them at all times. This car is a lemon and Toyota is just gaslighting its customers. Please get on social media and read about all the problems with the 12 volt battery on this car. I can think of many scenarios where being alone stranded with a dead car could be dangerous. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other1 queja

Although the involved vehicles are within the above production period range, not all vehicles in this range were sold in the U.S. This issue only affects 2023-2026MY Prius and Prius Prime vehicles equipped with electric rear door lock system with a door opener switch manufactured by a specific supplier and during a specific production period. Other Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold in the U.S. are either equipped with a different electric rear door lock system or do not have an electric rear door lock system and do not have the condition described in this report. Unknown. Toyota is unable to provide an estimate of the percentage of vehicles to actually contain the defect. Whether water enters the door opener switch and causes a short circuit that could lead to a door switch activation depends on various conditions, as described further below. However, as the NHTSA manufacturer portal requires an integer value be entered, Toyota has entered the value “1” in response to this question in the portal. For the purpose of this report, “1” means “unknown”.
