My car was in my garage and charging with my home's level-2 charger on June 1 2026 in standard fashion. At 2am the charging was interrupted by the car (per charger log) and stopped at 68% charge (set to fully charge to 100%). Subsequently the car could not charge any more, and I tested this with two independent level-2 charging units. Both of these chargers are confirmed operational with another electric car in my garage. I took the car to Kia Service on June 4 and they confirmed it was a failed ICCU.
NHTSA #11742188
Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU )failure on the high voltage battery leading to also the 12v battery failure.
NHTSA #11738042
Vehicle ICCU unit failed resulting in inability to charge at level 1/2 on AC power and would have ultimately led to failure of the 12v battery, which results in the car shutting down. Posing a safety risk. Resulting repair led to coolant level issue. Currently the only solution to the problem is replacement of the unit, with the exact same unit model. Leaving the possibility of it happening again. The manufacturer has not developed a long term solution to the problem, which is common and affects a large percentage of the vehicles. Previous software update recall did not correct the issue.
NHTSA #11744666
The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed twice within four weeks. The first failure occurred in March 2026 and was repaired under recall SC327 with a replacement ICCU and fuse. The second failure occurred April 7, 2026, approximately 12 days after pickup. Symptoms: Vehicle failed to charge overnight on Level 1 and Level 2 circuits despite being plugged in. Later that day, while driving, a “Check Electrical System” warning appeared on the dashboard followed by sudden loss of power and acceleration. Vehicle fluctuated between 25-45 mph and could not maintain speed. Vehicle was driven approximately 2.2 miles to the dealership under its own power after warning onset. Safety risk: Sudden loss of power and acceleration while driving created a hazardous condition for myself. Dealer confirmation: The authorized Kia dealer confirmed a DTC for battery overheating and acknowledged the ICCU coolant was not fully topped off after the first replacement, suggesting the recall remedy was incompletely performed. The vehicle has remained at the dealer unrepaired since April 10, 2026. Component available for inspection: Yes, vehicle is currently at the dealership. Recall remedy concern: The SC327 recall remedy did not resolve the ICCU failure. A second failure occurred within two weeks of the repair. The dealer’s subsequent diagnosis of owner-caused undercarriage battery damage is contradicted by their own signed inspection report documenting all undercarriage items as passed with no damage noted

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (Electrical System) and the vehicle was repaired at the local dealer. The contact stated that four months later while driving 75 MPH, there was a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The message to "Check Electrical System" was displayed, and the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated to approximately 45 MPH. The contact continued driving and the message to "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply" was displayed. The vehicle decelerated to 5 MPH and failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected. All the doors were unlocked, and the vehicle then stalled. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) assembly and fuse needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,309.

The car has 41,000 miles and has experienced the second failure of the ICCU, so it will have a third unit in 3 years. The noteworthy issue is the risk associated with these failures. The unit failed on the freeway, and power was reduced to 20% (estimate), which put me and others in danger. This is apparently a known and significant issue with KIA. As a consumer, I am extremely concerned it will experience a 3rd failure, which could include immediate risk to self and passengers. How is this acceptable? Thanks for providing the forum to discuss.
NHTSA #11727582
Driving down highway and check electrical vehicle system came on vehicle said pull over as soon as safely possible EV six started to go into turtle mode slow down to half speed then quarter speed before I was able to pull it into a safe spot took it into dealer after having it to be towed ICCU failure and they are ordering a new part for replacement. Also drained the entire 12 V battery.
NHTSA #11725021
A warning came up on the dashboard to “Check electric vehicle system”. 12v battery light also on. Vehicle went into limp mode and drove at 45 mph max for a period of time, then dropped to 27 mph max. Inspections at Ziegler Kia in Holland, MI, found the ICCU was faulty and needs to be replaced. This vehicle has already had the ICCU recall applied, yet ICCU has failed again.
NHTSA #11723556
The ICCU failed and had to be replaced. This is a known issue.
NHTSA #11726014
my 2022 ev6 iccu went bad at 106,000 miles. I took it to the dealer at 99,000 for iccu safety recall . the dealership did not replace the iccu at the safety recall . the dealer wants me to pay 4000 dolllars to fix it....they should have replace it at the safety recall. kia goose creek, south carolina

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. While the contact’s daughter was driving approximately 40 MPH, the messages "Electric Failure: Stop Car Do Not Drive” and “12-Volt Battery Voltage Low" were displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle then failed to exceed 20 MPH, causing the driver to activate the hazard lights while pulling over to a side street while driving approximately 5 MPH. On the side of the road, the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was left at the side of the road to be towed to the nearest dealer. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that it was a known failure with the Interior Command Centre Unit(ICCU), and that the ICCU might need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
NHTSA #11720112
vehicle will not charge properly due to ICCU failure, causing it to not charge the 12v battery which could have caused it to run out of battery at any moment causing the car to stop operating while driving which could have caused an accident, particularly because I do mostly highway driving. The dealership has confirmed the ICCU failure. While it supposedly got the previous recall fixes, that did not prevent it from failing.
NHTSA #11719866
The ICCU stopped working as we were driving on a backroom. The Check Electric Vehicle System" warning light came on, 12V battery discharge, and sudden loss of motor power. If this happened on the highway or while crossing an intersection, there is a high risk of getting hit by another vehicle by the car's sudden deacceleration. The same issue was replicated at the dealership and they are working on a repair or replacing the ICCU.
NHTSA #11717076
Kia 2022 EV6 41,238 miles. The ICCU failed and was towed to KIA dealership. It was covered only because we got the extended warranty. Was at 88% charge, dashboard lit up with the warning “Check electric vehicle system”. Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
NHTSA #11718595
The car suddenly went into low power mode. It had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer learned the next day that the ICCU failed per the recall. However, while parts arrived a week ago, they do not have sufficient personnel to complete the work. They said it would likely be several more days. I was not offered a loaner. Were I not calling every few days I would not have any information. The dealer has never initiated a call to me for status.
NHTSA #11717147
ICCu failed. All the symptoms others have reported and discussed. (Reddit Kia subreddit + Kia Fotum). Sent home unable to charge. Kia claimed they could charge and wouldn’t do anything. After the second trip to the dealership they said “ it kick d out a ICCU code so we can replace it now”. They knew it was bad and the warranty protocol stinks. Software update did not prevent this. A fix and extended warranty should be required.
NHTSA #11718614
Repeat failure of iccu/electrical system. Car fails to maintain charge in 12v over time. Something fails damages the charge. I replace the module 6 fuse regularly on my own because I was tired of taking it to dealer and paying ~$20 for a few extra fuses that cost almost nothing. The car was in turtle mode the next day after a trip. The car wouldn’t go more than 15 mph then shut off. You can’t start it to put in neutral to tow so they MUST drag it into the flatbed. You cannot access items to help you from the rear hatch. The car becomes a giant metal paperweight when this issue occurs an leaves you stranded and at risk of harm.
NHTSA #11713233
My 2022 Kia EV6 would not charge on my home Level 2 charger and potentially shorted my ChargePoint home charger due to a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). I tried to charge on a Level 1 charger and the vehicle would not charge and brought up a electrical error message. I then tried charging on a Level 3 charger which worked. I brought my vehicle to the dealership today and they confirmed that there is a problem with the ICCU. This is a serious issue that KIA/Hyundai has been aware of for several years and still has not adequately remedied. This failure can occur while driving so it could have caused an accident or left me stranded far from home. KIA/Hyundai should be forced to replace all ICCU units rather than releasing software updates that do not stop the ICCU from failing.
NHTSA #11713380
Electrical propulsion failure resulting in 3 tow-ins. Vehicle goes into limp mode, slows to 20 mph on highway and then stops after about 2 miles. The issue appears related to the ICCU, fuse and 12V battery failures. History includes 6 attached ICCU related Repairs. #1 ICCU updated under recall SC271 at 31,678 miles. #2 Then the ICCU was replaced under recall SC302 at 45,059 miles. #3 Then the ICCU was replaced along with fuse and 12V battery after on road failure and tow in at 52,296 miles. #4 Then the ICCU was updated under recall SC327. #5 Then the ICCU, fuse and 12V battery was replaced at 69,849 miles under recall SC327 after another on road failure and tow in. #6 Then there was a ICCU overheat and charging fault related to a bad ICCU coolant reservoir cap after a charging failure and tow in at 70,957 miles.
NHTSA #11728824
I am reporting a failure related to the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) on my Kia EV6 vehicle. The vehicle suddenly became unable to charge using Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers. Each time the charging cable is connected, charging starts briefly and then stops within seconds with a “charging unsuccessful” warning. The issue occurs consistently across multiple chargers. However, DC fast charging (Level 3) still functions, indicating a failure specific to the onboard charging system. In addition to the charging failure, the 12-volt battery became abnormally depleted, which required external charging to prevent the vehicle from becoming completely inoperable. This raises safety concerns, as a drained 12-volt battery can disable critical vehicle systems. This appears consistent with widely reported ICCU failures affecting Kia EVs. The failure occurred without warning and has rendered the vehicle unreliable for normal use. Because the vehicle cannot charge at home or on standard public chargers, it creates a safety and mobility risk, especially if the vehicle becomes stranded due to 12-volt system failure. I am concerned that this is a systemic defect in the ICCU that impacts vehicle reliability and safety and should be investigated further.
NHTSA #11712107
Unsure exactly why it happened, but I was driving in my parent's neighborhood (25 mph limit), and I heard a pop, and the next thing I saw was an electrical warning message on my dashboard. That's when I realized the issue is with the ICCU.
NHTSA #11711787
ICCU failure at 16k miles. The ICCU was replaced at the dealership on January, 29th of this year, so it is not available for inspection. The failure tripped a breaker at my home while it was charging possibly indicating a short circuit. The short circuit could have potentioally overheated and caught fire in my home. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they confirmed it was the ICCU and replaced it under warranty. I have a copy of the invoice received after the replacement was installed. I do not know what they did with the old ICCU after it was placed. There was no indication of pending failure that I noticed prior to this incident occuring.
NHTSA #11729952
My car (Kia EV6) suddenly stopped charging with Level 1 and Level 2 charging. I brought it to the Kia dealership and it was diagnosed ICCU failure. ICCU was swapped and the car is charging again.
NHTSA #11721111
Widely circulated and well known ICCU issue leading to 12v failure. There is a recall on this, but people are being stranded and offered only part replacement. Kia should be responsible for corresponding costs associated with their defective units. I’ve had 2 bad ICCUs and the second one left me stranded. Unacceptable.
NHTSA #11713071
ICCU failure at 71k miles on 2022 Kia EV6. Owned for 46 months, original owner. 12 volt battery also died when 18 months old, which left me stranded and I had to be towed to dealership Never missed a service or recall update
NHTSA #11711890
ICCU failed. Level 2 charges didn’t work.
NHTSA #11716325
I bought my Kia ev6 new in October 2022, I have had problems with the charging system. I had the ICCU replaced on 9/12/2024 60,488. I just had to have it towed to the dealership because the same issue came up on 1/2/2026 92,943. It went into check electric system and pull over, then went into limp mode got it pulled over to the side of the road and it died. Dealership has it now and will give updates. I don't charge at DC only charge at home on a level 2 charger.
NHTSA #11708385
Heard fuse pop in back of car immediately went into turtle mode with red check electrical system warning. Dealer diagnosed as bad ICCU which also drained the 12v battery. This recall should be left open for all these ICCUs keep failing and stranding people.
NHTSA #11711283
Could not charge car. It kept saying Charging Interrupted. The failure was the ICCU
NHTSA #11709549
Heard a loud pop while driving , and then car immediately showed an electrical failure message and went into turtle mode. Diagnosed by dealer as an ICCU issue
NHTSA #11707736
ICCU failed while driving on freeway. Heard loud pop which dealership determined to be a blown fuse as a result of the ICCU failing. Car decelerated to 30-40 mph and stayed in this limp mode. Light on dash indicated an electrical system issue. Vehicle was towed to dealership and repair was made under warranty.
NHTSA #11715408
ICCU failure. The vehicle would no longer charge via AC and tripped the circuit breaker whenever plugged in. All necessary software updates related to the ICCU issue were completed timely before its failure.
NHTSA #11720488
Upon connecting a level 2 charger, I heard a loud POP, then the dashboard said charging failed, check Electrical system. From then on, the car would not be able to charge on level 2. The dealership determined that it was an ICCU failure, which is very well documented and experienced by owners in online forums. In my situation, no one was put at risk, however many owners have reported it happening while they were traveling at highway speeds. When this happens at highway speeds, it causes the car to slow down immediately, which is extremely dangerous. The part number of the ICCU is the same as the original, which means it's still the same part that could fail at any time. My car has been updated to the latest recall software to motivate the ICCU failures but it still happened to me. Please put pressure on Hyundai and Kia to fix this issue and recall all ioniq 5s and ev6 models
NHTSA #11707364
I had an ICCU failure. There were no warning lights . The dealership initially could not find the problem but when I brought it back again they did confirm the ICCU failed and replaced it. Failure of this causes the car to stop driving and lose power causing you to stop on the road as well as be unable to charge the car.
NHTSA #11704834
The ICCU failed in my car while attempting to charge the vehicle while at home in my garage. This component has a known history of failure while driving and now that it has been replaced with an identical unit, I fear for my safety while driving since I live in a remote area and rely on the car for transportation in sub-freezing temps and winter conditions. While the dealer has replaced the ICCU, there is no acknowledgement from the manufacturer that the failure mode of this component has undergone any redesign or improvement to warrant trust that it will not happen again. It is a ticking bomb.

NHTSA #11713530
The ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) failed while the vehicle was charging at my home. It tripped the 60A circuit breaker for my EVSE circuit and now my EVSE is inoperable. The vehicle no longer charges via AC (Level 1 or Level 2) at any charging station. Attempting to charge the vehicle triggers a safety fault error on the EVSE indicating an electrical problem with the vehicle. Additionally, attempting to use the V2L (Vehicle to Load) adapter on the vehicle causes audible arcing sounds from the ICCU accompanied by a "Check Electrical System" message on the vehicle's display. These symptoms indicate a complete failure of the OBC (On-Board Charger) circuit inside of the ICCU. The arcing is most likely coming from a failed MOSFET. The ICCU has been recalled twice in this model, however it is clear that the software update "remedies" are not satisfactory. I had the most recent recall campaign SC327 completed during the month it was released in November 2024, yet it still failed only a year later. Reports of ICCU failures are constantly being posted online from "remedied" Kia EV6 vehicles. Software cannot fix a hardware design fault. The part should be redesigned to correct the cause of the defects and, if Kia doesn't want to replace every ICCU with new hardware, the warranty on the ICCU should be extended to unlimited miles and 15 years.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated that the electric vehicle battery failed to charge during level one or level two charging. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the Integrated Charging Control Unit had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 81,300.
NHTSA #11696518
Electric car stopped working with home, (level 2 or AC charging), only level three or DC fast chargers. Took car to local dealership who confirmed the cars ICCU had gone bad, which is a known issue with this vehicle, and needed to be replaced. Since I had all the software recalls done to mitigate this matter Kia replaced it under warranty. There were no indication that anything was wrong with the vehicle until the first unsuccessful charging attempt at home.
NHTSA #11716344
The ICCU went out in my car. Fortunately I was at home charging and not on the road.
NHTSA #11715280
ICCU fail at 58,000 miles. + the front fuse under the front seat. Rendered the car immobile and drained the 12 volt battery. Dealer replaced the iccu and fuse but refused to replace 12 volt, saying that it is covered up to 36k miles. They said ir can just be recharged. But since there repair took a long time, the battery was sitting fully discharged all this time. After that sitting period it would not charge back. So the fault resulted in a week of covered repairs and an extra 12 volt battery cost on an ev, not covered by the dealer.
NHTSA #11706986
ICCU failed while charging using Level 2 charger. Dealer still has my vehicle and issue was diagnosed.
NHTSA #11676444
The 12-volt battery has failed twice and was ultimately replaced. Additionally, the ICCU unit was replaced once. The vehicle has now returned to the shop for the same recurring issue, as the 12-volt battery either fails to hold a charge or is not charging properly. Most concerning, the vehicle stalled while in motion, creating a serious safety hazard, as it was not possible to activate the hazard lights, leaving occupants in a potentially dangerous situation.
NHTSA #11671914
Got error message "Check Electrical vehicle system" when I was driving on 06/03/2025. After driving few miles, then get other error message on dash - "Stop Vehicle and check power supply". After restarted the car, drove few miles and got the error message again. Luckily I got back home with my kids safely. When the tow truck came to take my car to dealership next morning 06/04/2025, the car started, but it died on the middle of the road when trying to drive up the tow truck. The tow truck had to drag my car up instead. If the car suddenly died in middle of highway on 6/3, it would be different story. After almost a week in the Kia shop, It was ICCU assembly and fuse issue on Kia Ev6 and they had to replace it on 06/07/2025 and the car was fixed and picked up on Monday 6/9/2025
NHTSA #11666732
Attempts to charge with home level 2 charger were unsuccessful, both at home and at a public charger. Reduced the charging speed using the car’s settings without success. Dealer reports a failure of the ICCU requiring replacement. This is apparently the subject of a class action lawsuit.
NHTSA #11664141
I was driving to work less than a mile away from my home, when coming up to a red light my car told me to find a safe place to stop. No previously warnings or other symptoms. Car just went from fine to nonfunctional in a matter of seconds. Once stopped, I had no power or any electronics. Not even hazzard lights. I was stuck at the intersection while I awaited a tow truck which had difficulty getting the car on the truck due to the complete electrical failure. Car was towed to a local Kia dealer who inspected it the next day and confirmed the ICCU was at fault. It was replaced in a couple of days and convered under warranty. 12v battery also dead but not covered by the warranty even though the faulty ICCU could have caused it to die early.
NHTSA #11710836
I took my 2022 Wind AWD EV6 into Bob Johnson Kia for the required SC327 recall service on Feb 17. I was informed that the service would not be performed because they were having too many problems with critical failures after performing the service on other cars. Specifically, they said they had 7 EV6s that died within weeks of performing the SC327 update, 4 of which were still in their back lot waiting for new ICCU assemblies. They recommended to wait until Kia sorted out the quality issues surrounding the SC327 update. This seems highly suspicious since it's a required recall service. I'm aware that Kia has a design problem with the ICCU and has mishandled service support from the beginning, but I need to understand my course of action and how you recommend I handle this situation.
NHTSA #11643450
Once the car was turned on, multiple electrical system warnings appeared. My battery was charged to 82%. Once brought to the Kia dealership, I was told that my ICCU needed to be replaced. My ICCU was already replaced once in 2023, so this is the second replacement. I had brought this car into the dealership on Oct. 11, 2024, for a maintenance check up, and this included software updates.
NHTSA #11643971
ICCU failed for a second time in 18 months, and the car has been waiting at the dealership for the replacement ICCU to arrive for 4 weeks - as Kia says the part is backordered. The recalls (of which they are now on their third, I believe) were supposed to have addressed this issue and prevented ICCU failure. Car was backing out of the garage on the morning of January 30th when the dashboard began showing alerts - "Stop vehicle and check power supply". Had the vehicle towed to the dealership where ICCU failure was confirmed. As mentioned, this is the SECOND time the ICCU has failed in our Kia EV6 - it was replaced once before already in July of 2023. This tells me that the issue is either far more common than the reported 1% failure rate or that there's some connection between how one uses or charges the car and the likelihood of failure. Either way, Kia doesn't seem to have any idea how to solve for it. First time our ICCU failed, the part was also backordered then and it took six weeks. How they can not have these parts readily available in the midst of an ongoing recall related to said part is truly frustrating.
NHTSA #11645083
I was about to drive to work and was still in the local area when suddenly a message popped up saying: "check electrical system" and "drive speed reduction", not allowing me to drive more than 10 mi/hr, but only about 30 seconds later a warning sound popped up and kept making noise. It was very dangerous for me. I had to pull over and call a tow truck via the Kia app (luckily the Kia app was still valid until 1/15/2025). At the time I reported, the car was at the dealer and there was no response from the dealer.

This is related to the NHTSA Recall Number24V867. We recently received this notice (a few weeks ago) and were planning to get it taken in. However, before we were able to do so it died with ZERO warning and simply wouldn't start. Had it towed to a dealer, who ignored that there is a recall, said the problem was the 12V battery being dead, and asked for $500 to replace the 12V battery... which was clearly damaged by the defective Kia charging system. So our complaint is two parts: i) allegedly the system would at least warn before dying (it didn't). and ii) in the process of being defective, it damaged other components and Kia is trying to not repair those claiming they're not under warranty. That is, frankly, crap.

12 Battery discharging And not recharging while off Charges only when turned on But all other functions as with air conditioning/ heater and alarms workwhile turned off the main battery But battery which runs all functions k n dose not charge it's self and degrades over time. 24v200 recall Ref #sc302 This recall supersedes 24v200. Battery died again after 30 days.voltage went down to 12 volts as normal would be ed 12.8 if working properly This is the 4 th time battery has demishied. Battery was replaced. 1 ,but still dose no g work properly. Have had two recalls that are not on your list. Of problems but I have received from Kia. Check added info. Also if power goes off on the 12 volt car will stop working It's happened twice with this vehicle. Was buy Kia access tow service. I added a cord so I could monitor the off voltage which was isolated to monitor the voltage as there is no way else to do it. When needed to check 12 volt system . I have 9860 mile a on this vehicle. The contact owns a 2019 Kia EV6. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was able to restart. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (Electrical System). The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

This electric vehicle would not charge from a 120VAC or 240VAC source. It would charge using HVDC. It has been repaired by a KIA dealership and therefore the part is not available for inspection. I don't know that anyone's highway safety was at risk because the vehicle continued to operate normally and could be recharged, although not at home. That said, the failure presented as a dead-short to the EVSE, causing the circuit breaker to activate. If the home were improperly wired, I suppose an electrical fire could have occurred. The component that failed and was replaced is the "ICCU," the same component which was subject to a NHTSA recall for failing to maintain 12V power for charging the auxiliary battery and powering the 12V auxiliary equipment. The vehicle was inspected by a KIA dealer and the defective part was replaced. There was no advance warning. One day the vehicle charged normally. The next day, it did not. I am providing this information because NHTSA should have a complete a record of the KIA ICCU failure history as possible.

24V200 KIA recall is not being upheld by the manufacturer. they are only performing recall in a small subset of customers - hundreds if not thousands are being fobbed off (by JUST doing software updates) even when having to be towed in 4 or 5 times. In my case i have been towed 4 times. one of the times by power failed with little warning - the other 3 times it would not start in the morning - the car does not give many minutes/miles of wanring as recommended by NHTSA to allow driver to pull over safely. THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT CRASH - it is just a matter of time. in my case kia is refusing to replace ICCU even though my vehicel is covered by the recall and has lost power 4 times - this is a scandal.

EV6 12v Battery isn't being maintained by the system and has failed and needed replacement. ICCU has been inspected under the recall but not replaced. The 12v battery is out of 36k mile warranty and has to be replaced out of pocket, when early failure is likely due to keeping the battery in an undercharged state.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road, the contact waited for a while, and then restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that several unknown service vehicle warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was returned to the owner and returned to the dealer approximately 12 times. The vehicle had been taken to another dealer, Executive Kia (1164 N Colony Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492) who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the battery had failed and there was battery acid accumulated on and around the battery. The battery acid was cleaned but the vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The ev6 12 volt battery is not being charged by the main battery. It was recalled for overheating and not charging. I took it in and it was supposedly fixed. Took about three weeks. It happened again and I didn’t have my car for three weeks. I am now on my third time where the small battery is not charging and we were almost stranded.

The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, a message was displayed "Stop the car, check electrical system" and the vehicle experienced a loss in motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at a local dealer under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V200000 (Electrical System); however, after one day, a message was displayed "Stop the car, check the electric system". The vehicle was towed back to the same local dealer for repair; however, the contact was advised that the recall repair might have damaged the vehicle and the contact would have to seek further repairs at another local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired due to the costs of the repairs and towing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

July 2024: ICCU Failure, resulting in ICCU replacement. This took place after 2 recalls. ICCU failure luckily happened in a safe location. December 2024: Receive Recall Notice for a continued ICCU defect February 2025: Vehicle brought in for third ICCU recal - this time after ICCU replacement. The Recall notice described the possibility that the ICCU could fail while driving, even at high speeds. Leaving the vehicle stuck with no power or even hazard lights.

The 12v battery in my vehicle failed due to the known ICCU issue. The dealership has the battery and has since replaced it. I do not know if they keep it for their records or not. My family's safety was put at risk due to the unpredictable timing of the failure, we were parked (thankfully) but there was a massive thunderstorm headed our way and we had to hunker down while waiting for a tow truck and a ride. This issue has been reproduced & confirmed by dealerships and other EV6 users (check [XXX]). The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership but no others at this time. There was no warning that the battery was about to fail, we were out at a park for the day and got in at the end when we tried to turn on the vehicle - it gave us an error "12v battery critically low" and then turned off. Kia has issued a recall for the ICCU, but not covered under this recall is the 12v battery which the ICCU causes to fail early. A bad ICCU (Integrated Current Control Unit) can decrease the lifespan of a 12V battery in several ways: Improper Charging Voltage, Inconsistent Current Flow, Battery Drain, Heat Generation, & Inaccurate State of Charge Monitoring. Kia is fixing the cause of a battery failure but not the battery itself. Thankfully we were parked when the battery failed (no longer will hold a charge) but this is a huge risk and should also be covered in this recall. The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly to 25 MPH. The message " Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply" was displayed. The contact attempted to drive to the residence; however, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V200000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

I have had multiple issues with the electrical system in this car. Even after recall and software update the iccu failed. Module 6 fuse consistently blows and I replace myself to keep my car working as close to the way it’s meant to as possible. The 12v battery has failed twice. The last time after a replacement. The system fails to maintain it. When the iccu electrical issue happens the car stops working completely. It is hobbled speeds as low as 15 and cuts off within minutes if you are dealing with this issue. The hatch will not open the car will not go into neutral to be towed so then has to be DRAGGED onto a flatbed to go to the dealership for repair. The repair often takes significant time.

Vehicle would not start/drive. Vehicle was parked in garage at time of failure. Kia dealership said the ICCU needed to be replaced along with the 12V battery. Prior to the failure, audio was not working in the car for several weeks. Kia stated that was due to the ICCU issues and that the 12V was most likely also failing due to the ICCU. ICCU was covered by KIA, but owner of the vehicle had to pay for the replacement of the 12V battery. Vehicle was inspected by manufacturer at the local Kia dealership.

On [XXX] while traveling to NJ, the vehicle displayed "check electrical system" and would not accept a charge. With only 40 miles of range remaining, I drove the vehicle to Jack Daniels KIA. It is STILL at the dealership, and neither the dealer nor KIA Corp has provided a date that the car will be repaired. The dealer told me that it is covered under the 100kmi powertrain warranty, but that KIA corp must direct how and what to fix. They continue to supposedly try different things to fix the car, but either are not applying resources or are ignorant in how to fix the vehicle. KIA will also not compensate me $1308.99 to cover my current losses (car note, uber to get home when it died, and fuel costs) to date. The car has been out of my possession now for 44 consecutive days straight without any end in sight, compensation, or expected repair date. I was unable to charge this electric vehicle which I normally do almost once or twice a week using my home level 2 charger. It also did not speak the message that "your vehicle is being charged" which it normally does when I charge the vehicle. I tried multiple times. Then I got into the vehicle and saw that it was giving me the following error messages (pics included below) upon trying to start it. 1. "Check Electric Vehicle System" 2. "Battery Discharge Warning - Please use the vehicle after starting the vehicle". However the vehicle would not start and then it went went totally dead. Kia was kind enough to tow it under warranty to Century Kia in Tampa, FL as well as now they are trying to identify the issue. Kia was also kind enough to provide me a rental via Century Kia which I appreciate.

I completed recall in March of 2025 for the ICCU, it failed driving down a busy road in January 2026. Kia did complete the repairs, but only warranties for 12k miles. It seems from forums I am in that this is a common problem. It also caused me to be without transportation for several weeks

After owning this car for about 3 years now I had the ICCU blow out on me at 53k miles right before thanksgiving. This prevented my car from Level 1 / Level 2 charging and would no longer keep the 12v battery charged. this made the car drive at limited speed as the 12v would drain. I had previously taken the car to get the ICCU recall early in the year and obviously that "software fix" did prevent this from happening. How am I supposed to reliably drive this car unless KIA/Hyundai actually redesigns the ICCU? This is something that needs a permanent fix or at the least a lifetime warranty coverage.

I was leaving a parking space when I heard a pop in the right rear of the vehicle. I merged in to traffic and drove stop and go for about three blocks when a warnning message appeared on the dash saying that there was an electrical issue. I've been following this issue on various model specific forums so I was sure what had happened and knew that I had to get off the road quickly. I was able to find an open parking lot and immediately called for KIA roadside assistance. By the time the tow truck arrived all electrical systems were dead. It was towed to the dealer and the next day I was informed that diagnostics determined that the vehicle had a failed ICCU (Integrated Charge Control Unit). This vehicle has had the recalls that addressed this issue with software updates.

Dealer has not repaired it and is waiting on a part but they say it is on back order and has not given me a timeline for repair.

Perhaps 1 year into owning this car the apple carplay connection started going in and out-- it takes perhaps 10 to 15 seconds for it to start working again. I've tried different phones and cords. This issue is getting worse, sometimes 6 times in a 20 minute drive. Now it goes out very frequently (though it is rare in the mornings for some reason). I have brought the car into a dealership and they cannot find any issue with the car. At the recommendation of the dealership I switched the cord to an official apple cord, but when I did this the connection would be lost and I'd have to reach down, disconnect the cord, and reconnect it to get the screen to come back on-- I have since switched back to an Anker cord. There have been many drivers with the same EV6 reporting this issue in Kia FB groups. Now that the car is about 4 years old, it happens very frequently (one time 6 times in a 10 minute span). The safety issue comes in as one, some people may be reaching to disconnect and reconnect their cord while driving, which can be a distraction and may lead to increase in accidents, two, if someone is on a call they may disconnect the cord and switch to speaker, which again is a distraction, and three, I have also been using the navigation system through the carplay, and when the map goes out my turn is going up it can cause me to hesitate on whether to turn or not (and perhaps if the screen comes on at the last minute, make a quick turn, which can increase risk of collision).

I recently experienced a serious safety issue with my less than 3-year-old Kia EV6. The 12-volt battery unexpectedly failed, rendering the vehicle inoperable, including the doors. This occurred twice: once while the battery was still under warranty, and again after the warranty expired. The second failure left my wife and daughter stranded in a dark parking lot at night. Despite numerous online reports of similar incidents, Kia refused to replace the battery under warranty, citing the mileage. This is a significant safety concern, as a failed battery can leave drivers stranded in dangerous situations. I contacted Kia corporate to request compensation for the replacement battery, but they declined. I believe Kia should take responsibility for this widespread issue and replace these defective batteries at no cost to consumers.
NHTSA #11619093
The ICCU system in my 2022 Kia EV6 failed for the SECOND time on the highway. The car threw an error telling me to "Check the electrical system" and "Pull over safely immediately" or something similar. Had I not made it to the shoulder, I would have been completely stranded in the middle of the highway, creating an incredibly dangerous situation. This is the second time this has happened with my EV6 in less than 50,000 miles on this car. I had to call a tow truck. I confirmed with the Kia dealership the ICCU system had randomly failed and was required to be replaced *AGAIN*. My wife was in the car with me and was freaked out. She doesn't feel safe in it because there's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. KIA says it is a known issue, and confirmed it was the second time this has happened to my car. No symptoms prior to it happening. We were just driving and then suddenly the car lost power and the warning displayed on the dash.

This electric vehicle failed to charge at level 2 charger at home. It charged at level 3 fast chargers however it registered a full charge at 125 miles and the level of charge in % and miles remaining fluctuated with sudden shifts. There were no warning lights or other signs of problems. I took it to the dealership who wanted me to keep driving and wait a week for an appointment. I knew that this could indicate an ICCU failure for the second time and insisted. Also asked that charging port and 12v be tested It was the second ICCU failure which can lead to a dead stop without warning in traffic. This is the second failure in this car.

Bought this car in 2022 and had no problems until 1/2/26. Car was charging at home and suddenly stopped. Got a check electrical system warning light. Took it to the dealer to get checked out and the ICCU needs to be replaced. Despite everything online saying that it is covered on the 10 year/100,000 EV warranty, they are denying that it is covered under warranty. They say it is covered by the basic 60,000 mile warranty which I am a whopping 8,000. There has been multiple recalls on the ICCU, all software because Kia can't be bothered fixing their bad designs. Getting rid of this junk car and never buying a Kia again as I will not trust my life and safety with such a horrible company that doesn't care one bit about it's customers.
NHTSA #11709411
While driving, the car all of a sudden lost power - forcing me to pull over. If this were to happen while on the freeway, a crash would have been imminent. This is a known issue with kia/Hyundai EV's where the ICCU fails and causes the vehicle to lose power suddenly.
NHTSA #11706867
In November 2024, my 2022 Kia EV6 became suddenly non-drivable due to electrical failure consistent with a repeat ICCU/12-volt system malfunction. The vehicle would not start or maintain normal electrical power and became stuck in accessory mode, creating a loss of propulsion and complete loss of transportation. This vehicle previously experienced an ICCU failure earlier in 2024 that required dealership repair and battery replacement. After that repair, the vehicle again developed electrical failure symptoms, including loss of 12-volt power and inability to operate. Due to the unsafe non-drivable condition, Kia Roadside Assistance directed and arranged a tow to a Kia dealership. Upon arrival at the dealership, new undercarriage and wheel-well damage was documented within approximately 90 minutes of drop-off. This damage was not present prior to towing and is located where tow equipment attaches. The vehicle remains in the possession of the dealership and is available for full inspection. The electrical failure created a safety risk because the vehicle became immobilized without warning and could not be safely operated. There was no advance notice or driver-caused event. The failure resulted in complete loss of vehicle function. The vehicle has been inspected by a Kia dealership, and I have been working through Kia corporate and roadside providers since the incident. The vehicle remains out of service with unresolved electrical issues and unresolved damage resulting from the manufacturer-directed tow.

My EV6 lost power while driving on a busy street. It went into 'Turtle Mode' which allowed me to pull off onto a side road and then all power to the car went out and the car stopped on the side road. I was honked at a couple of times while trying to get off the busy street. The tow truck driver put a power pack on the car and shifted it into neutral and was able to move the car. The dealer diagnosed this as an ICCU failure. The part required is on national backorder with no delivery specified.

While driving in traffic I heard a pop, then the "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning came on the dashboard. After a minute or so the dash warning changed to "Stop Vehicle" and the car limped home but at a lower speed. This matched the description I had seen of ICCU failures on Kia and Hyundai EVs. Dealer confirmed this was in fact the issue, and I had it replaced under warranty. This was a safety issue for me and my family because when it failed I was driving in traffic on a four-lane road at night, in <40-degree weather, and it requires a tow to the dealership for repair. Although I now have a new ICCU, I am also now concerned that it might happen again. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance or manufacturer that I'm aware of.

The ICCU charge control unit for Kia electric vehicles that immediately depletes the 12v battery & significantly reduces motive power forcing you to pull over with no countdown to how long one has in terms of distance or duration. This uncertainty is absolutely unsafe as you cannot know how long it is safe to keep driving before the vehicle ceases to move. This ICCU failure has been affecting several 2022 onwards Kia vehicles & even replacing this component does not guarantee this failure will not recur & needs serious action & accountability to Kia.

Once again, the ICCU on the car failed requiring intervention / towing. This is the second outage of the ICCU. This issue happened in early April 2025 (April 8th I believe). My car was parked at work. I entered my car after work and turned on the car. I heard a pop from the rear passenger side identical to the issue as it had happened last January (2024). Shortly thereafter, the check electrical system warning came on. I briefly attempted to drive car to move it to where would likely be an easier spot for the purposes of towing (one parking lot over that is not gated). During that brief drive (roughly 1/4 of a mile), the car immediately began issuing warnings requesting that I pull over and stop. I entered the nearby parking lot and parked the car where it was towed the next day to the dealership.

NHTSA #11730936
While driving the vehicle a short distance, I heard a loud pop from the back seat. The car immediately warned of an electrical system failure. The issue and symptoms are consistent with ICCU module failures, reported across the kia/hyundai egmp platform. My safety was put risk, because I was stopped in heavy traffic when this happened and could have been stranded far from home with no ability to drive the vehicle more than a couple of miles at most. The warnings started immediately after the pop I heard.
NHTSA #11721998

The ICCU failed after having the safety recall done on it. The car went into warning mode and I luckily had just enough time to pull it into a parking lot to get towed. another few minutes I would have been stuck on a road with no where to pull off. The dealer did replace the ICCU and said that they were familiar with the part blowing randomly on people and that Kia is aware but not making good fixes by putting in the same defective replacement units
NHTSA #11710834
The ICCU failed causing the vehicle to shut down in the middle of the road with no warning at all. Shutting down in the middle of the road with no warning is a major safety issue. Kia is aware of this fault with the EV6 and all other EGMP platform vehicles, and has made no effort to fix the issue. They just replace the faulty ICCU with another faulty ICCU and hope it doesn't fail before the warranty runs out. They are putting lives at risk, and all EGMP vehicles are unfit for purpose. Kia has the vehicle, has confirmed they will "repair" it under warranty. There is no timeframe for the "repair" and the repair doesn't fix the issue, it just puts the vehicle back on the road in the same unsafe condition in which it is likely to shut down in the middle of the road again.

I am reporting a recurring safety and reliability issue with my 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle currently has approximately 63,100 miles. The vehicle repeatedly displays a “Check Electric Vehicle System” warning message. This problem has occurred three separate times. On at least two occasions, the vehicle became undriveable and required towing. The failure appears to affect the vehicle’s electric powertrain or control systems. The vehicle is currently being taken again to the dealership (Lou Sobh Kia in Cumming, Georgia) for diagnosis of the same issue. This will be the third service visit for this recurring failure. Because this issue can cause the vehicle to become unexpectedly inoperable, I am concerned about the safety implications and believe it may indicate a broader defect affecting Kia EV6 vehicles. I am reporting a failure of the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) in my 2022 Kia EV6. The vehicle became inoperable within weeks of purchase and has remained at a Kia dealership for over six weeks. The failure caused the vehicle to suddenly lose power and become undriveable, which is a serious safety concern. This issue appears to be widespread among EV6 owners. Despite the issue being covered under warranty, Kia has not provided an acceptable resolution. I believe this failure presents a risk of sudden vehicle disablement and should be investigated for safety-related recall potential.
NHTSA #11664644
When attempting to level one charge the vehicle at home, the car returned a failure to charge error and would not charge. This was attempted several times using different outlets and the same error occurred. The car was brought to Gettel Kia in Bradenton Florida. The dealership confirmed that the ICCU had failed,. They did not have the part and apparently it is on backorder. The repair is being covered under warranty, however, it is not being considered a recall, despite many other Kia EV6s having ICCU failures. The ICCU failures are extensive and need to be further investigated by NHSTA and a full recall for all Kia EV6s should be ordered.

I and was able to drive the vehicle to the local Kia dealer the next day, less than 1 mile away. The vehicle had reduced power and multiple warnings advising to slow or stop the vehicle. On 01/20/2025, Geweke Kia advised the ICCU had failed and thet it was placed on order, with no ETA for the part.

Vehicle alerted Electric Vehicle System problem on the dashboard. Dealer determined the ICCU and a fuse needs to be replaced again. Dealer has declined to replace the ICCU under the current recall stating it was already replaced 8 months prior. Vehicle is not usable in current condition due to a faulty ICCU.

The iccu failed on this car rendering the whole vehicle useless. This part is currently a recall and I was using a new ICCU with the software update per their recall solution. My second ICCU failed at approximately 40k miles.

Incident occured october 17, 2024. Was driving approximately 30mph on a local road when lights flashed to "check electric vehicle system". Was speed restricted to 25mph (on 45mph road) and was able to make it back home approximately 1 mile away. Car completely shut down in my street prior to making it to my driveway. It needed to be towed to the nearest dealership. No lights in dash working and flickering. Prior to this failure over the preceding several months there were errors where I would plug the car into Level 2 charging at home (9.6kWh) and the car would stop charging with a hot charging port approximately every 1 hour. I would unplug and replug in again. Charging would work. Level 3 was working just fine without problem. After going to the dealership it was deemed that the ICCU component needed to be replaced. After replacing car worked well and no charging issues occured.

While driving at speed, I heard a pop noise from the car. A few seconds later, I received notification to check vehicle electric system. The vehicle slowed down despite my increasing throttle input. I was able to limp to a parking lot where it was flat bed towed. This experience matches a previous issue I had when it was diagnosed with an ICCU failure with the same vehicle.

Regarding NHTSA Recall No. \/ MFR Recall No. : 24V-867 \/ SC327, I have contacted Kia America by email who is avoiding to take action in rectifying the SC327 defect. From March 11th to March 15th 2025 I have emailed Kia several times to address the issue of my Kia EV6 car, the lack of response from their side compels me to lodge a complaint with you. Please intervene in my case with Kia. Below is the latest correspondence from Kia.

The instrument cluster screen went black for no reason. Cannot see speed, turn signals do not work, do not know about any instrument issues, and blind spot camera doesn't work.
NHTSA #11670403
The driver cluster in front of steering wheel constantly goes from blank to partial screen to proper driver display. I have video of this happening. The speed, turns signals, odometer and blind spot information cannot be seen during the blank and partial screen. The dealer has replicated the problem. I’m out of warranty so replacement will cost $8500. There were no issues up to the point where it failed.

The AC charging for this car stopped working around [XXX]. After 3 trips to the dealership for repair I brought it back a 4th time and because the dealership was unable to repair it they gave me a loaner to use while they tried to figure out the problem. During this time they removed the entire battery from the car, dropped the suspension, experienced the car not being able to go into gear (reverse or drive), not hold a charge etc. The car has been 100% inoperable since [XXX]. Today, 01/27/26 the dealership phoned to let me know that a regional Kia technician came by and realized there was just one screw that needed to be tightened and now the car works perfectly and I can come pick up my car and bring the loaner back. There is no way I would ever feel safe driving that car again. Kia America offered me a buy back with the condition that I pay them $9,350 in depreciation. I purchased my car 08/08/2022, my car stopped charging by June 2023. I took it to the shop and was told, it was my charger. In August of 2023, I was told it was the ICCU. From 06/2023-12/07/2024, I had a total of 9 recalls on this car. Kia did not notify me at all for any recall with the exception of the second one that occurred in December of 2024 (the 9th recall). Some of the recalls I found online when my car failed to charge, one my insurance company notified me of and others I found out when I had other issues with my car.

Liftgate/Back Hatch consistently immediately automatically closes after opening, and has hit both drivers on the head before able to move out of the way. More detail: to open the back, one pushes a button, the rear hatch beeps, and then it automatically opens. During this, the user often leans inside once the opening is open enough. HOWEVER, recently when the door reaches its apex, it beeps again and immediately automatically starts closing, oftentimes hitting people on the head (thus, a safety issue, and it HURTS). Sometimes one has to re-open the door 3 or more times before it will stay open. Have contacted dealer, and the dealer literally said "the manual says sometimes it won't work when it's cold out." So it's a safety issue (since it has hurt two drivers) but Kia refuses to do anything about it.

The sunroof glass exploded on a hot day while my wife and I were in the car traveling 55 mph with the air-conditioning on. The remaining glass edges were flared up and outward. The sunroof glass was fully closed and the cloth sun shade covered the glass. It was either improperly installed or the materials could not withstand the heat. Nothing impacted the glass. The glass could have cut & injured us badly or blinded us, causing an accident with another vehicle or property. I felt this was a manufacturer's defect, but Kia denied us a warranty repair. I have pictures of the large hole in the middle of the glass. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was available for inspection. My insurance was notified. There was no warning or symptoms of this problem.

Persistent ICCU failure causing charging interruptions, “Check Vehicle Charging System” → “Stop vehicle and check power supply” warnings, low 12V battery voltage (down to 12.1V), and risk of power loss/strand. Kia Connect sent “Charge Interrupted” alert during a session that reached 99%. Multiple prior recalls/attempts failed to resolve (Sep 2023 TSB ELE291 BMS, Jun 2024 SC271 ICCU SW, Jan 2025 SC273 VCU SW, May 2025 SA5999 limp-home logic, Sep 2025 dead 12V stranding). Towed Feb 2026 after stranding; dealer confirmed ICCU failed (DTC P1A9096), replaced ICCU (P/N 36400-1XFA0AQQK latest revision), fuse, and SW update under SC327 (24V-867). Repair completed same day (Feb 24, 2026), but dealer skipped charging system test and filling coolant. Safety impact: Stranded wife twice (dead battery and iccu failure), tow required, potential sudden power loss while driving. Report purpose: Document recurrence despite multiple recalls; seeking NHTSA tracking for effectiveness of SC327 remedy.

I am reporting a recurring safety defect. While driving the vehicle the Integrated Charging Control unit (ICCU) failed and caused the vehicle to lose power and stop in the road. I feel strongly that this ICCU issue and subsequent failure should be made into a safety recall. Kia / Hyundai / Genesis all share the same e-gmp platform and utilize an ICCU that fails and leaves motorists in unsafe situations. The ICCU should be recalled and replaced with a unit that works. The current recall remedies are only software updates, and are insufficient to prevent this safety issue and hardware defect, posing ongoing safety risk to drivers and other motorists. The ICCU should be a permanent fix, rather than just software patches that do not fix the issue. My vehicle had all software patches and was up to date, yet those were not sufficient to prevent this hardware defect and safety situation.

Most vehicles with ABS experience what I call “ABS shudder/jutter” when applying brakes across a road seam where the road surface is uneven or a rut in the road. In this particular case while applying the brakes across a long rut in the road, the “ABS shudder/jutter” was much worse. NOT SPEEDING and having plenty of distance to stop. With brake pedal to the floor several times, the vehicle continued to move forward. The last few feet before colliding with a pickup truck, although the road was completely dry, the vehicle was driving forward yet sliding forward slowly. Felt no different than being on ice. Collision aversion system did nothing to help avoid. There is also only electronic parking brake and not an emergency brake to pull a handle on to assist in stopping. Dealership wasn’t able to find anything simply by driving around and slamming on the brakes and not finding any error codes. Regional technician currently scheduled to be here the 27th of Jan. Several people online have expressed similar concerns, just haven’t hit anything. I feel that the issue lies with the ABS system specifically braking over uneven road seams or ruts in the road and my experience is being discounted.

My 2022 Kia EV6 developed a serious electrical/MCU malfunction on 10/19/2025 at approximately 64,300 miles. While driving, the vehicle began to stutter during acceleration, all driver-assistance and safety systems disabled (LKAS, collision avoidance, lane keeping), and the vehicle could not accelerate normally (topping out around ~60 mph when fully pressing the pedal). The Kia Connect app displayed fault codes MCU P0A4100 and LKAS C164286. The malfunction recurred immediately after a dealer visit on 10/20/2025. The vehicle has since been inspected by Huffines Kia in Corinth, Texas, but no confirmed diagnosis has been provided, nor have they notified me of dropping/reconnecting the HV battery. On 11/18/2025, a new fault code appeared: MCU P0C1700. This failure affects the high-voltage electronics/MCU and causes sudden loss of acceleration capability and complete disabling of active safety systems while the vehicle is in motion, placing me and other drivers at risk. The issue is reproducible, continues to occur, and the vehicle remains at the dealership. I am requesting NHTSA review of this electrical/MCU malfunction as a safety-related defect.

The air bag (SRS) floor wire harness running directly under the moving front driver and passenger seats are assembled with no shielding or protection. So they are subject to being severed or damaged, and the wires are at risk of corrosion if exposed to moisture or road salt. This is clearly a preventable safety issue. However, Kia and Hyundai are not providing warranty coverage. And replacement of a damaged harness is ~$9,300+ because the harness apparently routs behind the dashboard and to the engine compartment.

Prior to midnight on 9/25/2025 I stopped at a Sheetz in Stephen"s City , Va to charge my 2022 Kia EV6. Upon pulling into the charging area I discovered construction fencing around the area with the chargers removed. I then drove to the other side of the store and parked next to the building to take advantage of the lighting as I scanned my phone app for alternative chargers in the area. SUDDENLY, within the blink of an eye, my car lunged forward at MAXIMUM speed. It came to a sudden stop , prior to hitting the glass and brick wall of the building. I was stunned. My first reaction was to try to go into reverse to back away from the building and then I noticed people coming toward me. I rolled the window down and heard them ask if I was ok , if I needed help calling 911, and then they began to insist that I climb down out of the car as they feared it would catch on fire. I did not understand what they meant initially, until I realized I was LOOKING DOWN at them. With assistance, I got out of my car and realized it was impaled upon the metal barrier post located in the middle , front of the parking space. The local sheriff dept responded and after putting me through all the DUI tests/exercises realized that I , indeed , was sober and not responsible for the incident. The deputy called Clem's Garage/Towing who arrived 30-45 min latter with a standard tow truck - I tried to explain that tugging at my car from the rear would not release it from the pole ( the rear of the car pointed toward the pavement while the front pointed toward the sky) and that continuing to tug would only do more damage (I wanted to prevent my car further damage). He eventually called another company who arrived with a large crane-like vehicle that lifted my car off the pole. The top portion of the pole was missing and apparently stuck in my car . My car was then towed to Clem's holding yard.

My 2022 Kia EV6 has repeatedly shut off while parked and while in motion, placing myself, my [XXX] child, and other drivers at serious risk. The vehicle’s Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed and was replaced, but the replacement ICCU also malfunctioned. This second failure caused a near-collision involving three vehicles. A Ford F-150 had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting me. The most recent incident occurred while dropping off my son, when the vehicle lost all power in traffic. Kia later confirmed that they could not guarantee this issue would not happen again. This statement came after I notified them of the near-accident and the ongoing shutdowns. Despite this, Kia has refused to buy back the vehicle or provide a safe resolution. The vehicle has been out of service for over 30 cumulative days and has undergone two ICCU replacements and one 12V battery replacement. Kia issued a recall notice for the ICCU in December 2024, but the issue persisted even after recall servicing. The defect has been inspected and confirmed by Kia dealerships, and all repair documentation is available. There were no warning lights or alerts before shutdowns. The system fails randomly and without warning, making the car unpredictable and unsafe to operate. This is an ongoing, unresolved issue that poses a danger to myself, my child, and the general public. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

After charging vehicle using L2 charger, (max 7kw) vehicle threw two error messages on screen. 1) “check electrical system” & 2) “stop vehicle and check power supply” Using an OBDII reader, the car provided error code P1A9096. I also noticed the car stopped charging the 12V battery as the 12V state of charge was down to 22%. I towed it to the dealer and they are currently working on diagnosing the issue.

On [XXX], I pulled into a parking space, and the car suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb, and hit the building. This is the second time this happened. It happened when I was parking in May 2022; the car suddenly accelerated and struck a fence. In all my time driving this car, I have never had an issue breaking or parking. There was an immediate surge in both cases, and I am confident that my foot was on the break. In both cases, I did not get any collision warning from the car or emergency braking. I know from experience driving this car that when the vehicle /system determined I was too close to something of danger, I would get a collision warning and an immediate breaking by the vehicle. I reported the issue to the KIA dealership for the first time and wrote a report; they said they had not heard of the problem but would note it. If there had been a person walking when this happened, I am sure serious, if not fatal injuries would be occur. I was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a pedestrian while driving my Kia EV6. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist : The FCA system appears to have completely failed. It did not detect the pedestrian, did not provide any audible or visual warnings, and did not initiate automatic emergency braking prior to the collision. Airbag System: The system failed to deploy despite a severe head-on collision. Regarding availability for inspection: The car was impounded by the SDPD and was inspected by both the police and State Farm before being sold to SF after being rendered a total loss. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My Safety: The failure of the airbags to deploy put me at significant risk of serious injury or death in the severe head-on collision. The Safety of Others: While the primary consequence of the FCA failure was the tragic impact with the pedestrian, the malfunction of a safety system designed to prevent or mitigate collisions inherently puts all potential road users at risk. Had the FCA functioned correctly, the collision might have been avoided entirely or the impact speed significantly reduced, potentially altering the outcome for the pedestrian. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No not to my knowledge. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? As mentioned above, the car was impounded by the SDPD and was fully inspected by both the police and State Farm. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None.

The defogger system. The car window’s suddenly fog up while driving and not adjusting the system. Theres no warning the windows start fogging up. I adjust to just front defrost on high and it takes 10 to 15 seconds to clear the windows good enough to see clearly . I took it to the dealership and was told nothing was detected. Mechanic told me he turned it up to 85, my cars high setting is 82, and tested the air temperature stating it was up to 105°. This just started after the latest recall was completed by the dealership. I’ve attached pictures of the windows fogged up while the system was on auto. This had happened 3 times since the first incident with the system off auto as well.

On multiple occasions, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle experienced a clunking noise and complete loss of propulsion. Safety was put at risk as the vehicle had to navigate off to the shoulder of the freeway at a speed significantly slower (due to no acceleration available) than traffic with reduced braking capability. Once on the shoulder the vehicle needs to be turned off then on again then it functions as normal. Due to the intermittency of the issue, the dealer was not able to reproduce the problem, therefore they will not fix it. When the issue occurs, there are no warning messages on the display. The dealer has stated there are no error codes stored in the computer. This issue seemed to go away after an ICCU fix was applied, but came back after the ICCU recall was recently applied.
