4WD service light turning on and off intermittently, one incident where a grinding noise was noted, car was parked and when looked into further the noise was gone. Contined driving, but 4WD service light stayed on. Took to dealer and they informed me the PTU requires replacement due to failure, diagnostic code shared was C14A797. After further research I discovered safety recall 40D / 26V290000 for 2019 - 2023 Jeep Cherokee vehicles, both dealer and Stellantis/Jeep customer service have stated the vehicle is not included in the recall.

NHTSA #11745005

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited has a diagnosed failure of the two speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU), which is the exact subject of active NHTSA Campaign 26V290000/Jeep Recall 40D. Ed Martin Jeep in Anderson, Indiana provided me with written diagnostics confirming the failure. However, they stated “the part is on back order for 4-6 months” and even explicitly told me “the Jeep is fine to drive, nothing should happen to it”. The official NHTSA Safety reports warns this failure causes an unrecoverable loss of motive power at any speed and severe park rollaway risks. Driving this vehicle for half a year presents an extreme, life threatening safety hazard, and the manufacturer/dealer is failing to provide me with alternate safe transportation while the part is on backorder.

NHTSA #11742462

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 25 MPH, the service four-wheel drive warning light illuminated and then the day after the four-wheel drive is no longer working warning message illuminated as well. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power transfer unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V290000 (POWER TRAIN), however the VIN is not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a grinding/humming noise would come from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed that both the front and rear Power Transfer Units failed, causing additional damage to the bearings. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic informed the contact about NHTSA Campaign Number 26V290000 (Power Train), which covers the same failure. The mechanic referred them to the manufacturer. The contact spoke with the dealer, who informed them that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V290000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and they too confirmed the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

NHTSA #11738948

The vehicle was making a vibration in the center of the car. I took it to the dealership and they said it was the ptu but that it's not part of the recall.

NHTSA #11737744

The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V290000 (POWER TRAIN); however, a second dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

NHTSA #11745043

The service 4WD light came on and vehicle doesn’t have 4WD capabilities right now because the PTU is bad. They also can’t get the part because so many people are having the same issue. I have a Jeep for the 4WD capabilities and had difficulty driving to work during a winter snow storm because the dealer can’t fix it because too many people need the part. Other Jeeps are under recall for the same issue.

NHTSA #11726953

Warning light indicating "SVC 4WD" came on. Drive became erratic. Immediately took to Jeep dealer and found that PTU had failed though this VIN apparently not covered by ongoing recall (01C) of vehicles of the same year, make, and model. Parts to make repairs unavailable and on indefinite backorder. Seems clear that recall 01C should have been much broader and covered all vehicles with this well-known and frequent catastrophic failure. Vehicle essentially rendered inoperable and unusable and no projected date from manufacturer for receiving needed parts. Utter collapse of supply chain.

NHTSA #11725429

On March 1, 2026, while traveling south on Colonel Rodman Highway, I heard a sudden explosive noise and the Jeep bucked and jerked violently, nearly causing an accident. We were able to reach the breakdown lane, but the situation created a highly hazardous driving condition. My research identified a significant PTU recall and TSB 9004402, which acknowledges complexities and compatibility issues between 20-plate and 24-plate RDM designs for this model year. This confirms the component is not a standard wear-and-tear part, but a specialized system with known engineering concerns. I brought the vehicle to Tasca Jeep and was advised that the rear differential failed and the PTU blew apart, with an estimated repair cost of $9,637. It is unacceptable for owners to bear the cost of what appears to be a known safety-related defect. This is not an inconvenience — it is a serious safety issue. I am requesting a full investigation and written clarification as to why no recall or broader corrective action has been issued. There were no lights or warnings on the dash, no indication this could/would happen. I look forward to your prompt response.

NHTSA #11721840

I was driving on the highway and experienced what felt like a brief power outage where my vehicle instantly dropped speed. I estimate it was approximately 10-15 mph. Everything appeared to return to normal at the time until approximately 5 minutes later when I exited the highway and it began making a loud noise. I drove a couple miles before getting concerned and thinking I don't want to risk breaking down on the side of the highway going home or doing further damage to an expensive component such as engine or transmission. I used roadside assistance to tow my vehicle to my nearest dealership. The tow driver confirmed he heard the noise inside the vehicle while I stood outside and could not hear it. The dealership called me to approve the diagnostic fee and also asked questions about what happened. In hindsight, they had asked a very specific question regarding the noise sound and location which, in my opinion, shows they instantly suspected the issue that they would later report. After approving the fee, they sent a quote focused primarily around the rear differential housing being cracked for an estimate of $5221.85. I asked how this would happen and the service representative explained that the choke inside the differential broke and a piece of metal inside it cracked the housing. I began researching differentials in vehicles and specifically in Jeep Cherokees, I learned very quickly that this is a very common problem which explains how a representative was able to tell me the cause without seeing it. No warnings were ever issued on the dashboard and no symptoms were present prior to the sudden deceleration. There are no warnings on the dash after the event and the only symptom other than the noise while in motion is the acceleration/deceleration feels slightly less sensitive. Every potential cause stated by mechanics who have looked at this points to a manufacturing issue or quality issue. A complete failure could cause an accident harming people.

NHTSA #11720311

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a clunking sound coming from the vehicle while attempting to shift gears. There was no warning light illuminated. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly hesitated while attempting to accelerate. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the PCM, TCM, and DTCM software had failed and needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, where it was diagnosed with PTU failure. The contact was informed that the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000

NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 25V011000 PTU RECALL has been addressed by local dealership 2xs. They have ran the update and receive no errors however they continue to experience loss of power when excelerating and loud grinding noises as described. Currently the dealership still has my keep until there is a fix. I’ve contacted the manufacturer whom said there is nothing they will do if there is no error after the software update. I’m out of factory warranty and there is no reason I should be held responsible financially to fix a recall. I’ve read many other threads online that this has happened to others. I’m looking for some guidance as my Jeep Cherokee 2019 is unsafe and is going to cause an accident. I received a safety recall for the PTU unit on my 2019 jeep cherokee, the service 4x4 system light was on. I took it to the dealership where they said they cleared the recall but the light was still on and the 4x4 system still did not work. They told me they did what they were supposed to…period. Now when i look up for recalls nothing comes up, but they light is still on and the system doesn’t work. I just received a letter from FCA US that states the warranty has been extended to “unlimited years/unlimited miles from the date of completion of Safety Recall 01C “. I called again about the extended warranty and now i am told that because the recall was cleared there is no warranty, i don’t understand because the PTU system does not work yet there is an unlimited warranty on it that they say is no good ????

NHTSA #11734086

incidental to nys inspection it was found that rear differential was severely "decayed." the case was fractured and retaining ring on passenger side was broken or out of place. took to Jeep dealer and it was confirmed that the differential was trashed, had to be replaced, and that vehicle unsafe to operate. No warning signs or symptoms (ie, no noise, no handling issues, no dashboard warning lights.) vehicle has only 63,000 miles. it is my understanding that this is not isolated situation, and "it just happens." dealer contacted Jeep warranty office and they agreed to "good will" partial contribution to repair, but leaving over $2,000 not covered. I know that just recently announced (2/2026) recall of grand cherokees for internal snap ring problem. this was external snap ring (see photos) but wonder if related.

NHTSA #11718514

Rear differential lock rings broke and caused leaking fluid, as reported to me by a dealer service department. This could lead to handling problems and even total system failure. No warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms. Upon an internet search, I found that this seems to be a COMMON issue with Jeep Cherokee's - therefore, I'm not sure why it isn't already a recall.

NHTSA #11716769

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "4WD Not Available" displayed, and the 4WD warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle vibrated while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the power transfer unit (PTU) was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.

NHTSA #11723940

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, there was a grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle stalled and failed to drive forward. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the PTU had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (POWER TRAIN). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 93,000.

Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failure. It is available for inspection upon request. Visible PTU fluid leaking under the vehicle. Loss of 4WD. Service 4WD warning on dashboard began on Monday, January 5, 2026. Vibrations and grinding noises while driving. Burning oil smell in the cabin. Change in driving, such as delayed engagement and jerking during acceleration. Loss of power. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk at least twice when I experienced Loss of Power while driving. The vehicle unexpectedly shut off and all power was loss while in drive on two separate occasions in late 2025. PTU fluid leak is also a risk to my safety due to its potential for vehicle overheating, fire hazard, loss of 4WD, and/or catastrophic failure. The vehicle was taken to the service department of Ourisman Dodge Jeep Ram of Alexandria, VA on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The vehicle was inspected and PTU failure was confirmed by the dealership service department representative, Dennis Orellana.

The vehicle is subject to an open safety recall, Jeep recall 01C / NHTSA 25V-011, involving loss of motive power due to a power transfer unit defect. There is currently no available remedy or repair procedure. This vehicle has experienced loss of power while driving at freeway speeds on three separate occasions, creating an immediate safety risk. Because the recall has no fix, the vehicle is unsafe to operate and is not being driven. Stellantis Customer Care case [XXX] is open, but escalation beyond the call center has been denied. The rear differential went out on it on Nov 27th, I had it towed back to the dealer and they kept it until Jan 5th and said they had fixed it. I have a hand written receipt from them but it's not very detailed. It does seem better but I can still hear a small noise that concerns me because it sounds and feels just like it did before. I just started financing this vehicle so im not sure what to do and I cant get any help with it. Its scary to drive sometimes but it's my only transportation and I have 3 small children. The check engine light is on but it didn't come up until after they worked on it the first time.

Sometimes after starting the vehicle, The transmission will not shift into reverse and the vehicle must be turned off and restarted. Occasionally when the vehicle is shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, it shifts very hard, like a kick.

NHTSA #11727453

In January of 2026 the vehicle had a 4WD system unavailable/ Service required message pop up. It would come on and go back off. At the time there was also a whining/ grinding noise present especially at high speeds on the highway along with vibrations. We had the vehicle checked with. Code reader and was told it was sending a false code, and that a fuse probably needed replaced for it to go off. The whining and grinding we thought could be wheel bearings or breaks. Both have been replaced and still have all of the same symptoms. The 4WD service light goes off but comes back on and stays on anytime a bump in the road is hit.

Current mileage 120,287 have owned since purchased in 2019. On 12/28/2025 experienced a loud pop and an apparent disconnect of power to drive wheels, place car in neutral and back into drive seemed to drive normal. After driving another 12 miles and turning onto a side road experienced the occurrence again. We began having pops and vibrations as early as 2023 predominantly during an acceleration following a turn. On 10/19/2024, mileage 98,975, I requested maintenance as “developed slack in the drive train. When slowing down it bumps, when accelerating, mostly from a stop, it bangs and slips when shifting”, however despite having a tech drive with me only the hesitation was noticed. The concluded “trans no problem found at this time.” The bangs have intermittently continued but I had never experienced the loss of power like occurred on 12/28/2025.

The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) has failed for the SECOND TIME in this vehicles history. This problem disables the four wheel drive feature of the vehicle, causing a dashboard warning light to illuminate, and may lead to other serious drivetrain safety issues. According to the dealer service technician, the splines on the unit are wearing out and causing disengagement of the rear drive wheels. This unit was replaced two years ago, and is a known issue with the manufacturer according to my dealer service department.

NHTSA #11706088

The vehicle is subject to an active safety recall involving the two-speed power transfer unit (PTU), which can cause loss of motive power and/or loss of PARK function. The vehicle displayed a “Service 4WD” message and all-wheel drive functionality is disabled. The issue has been confirmed by a Jeep dealership, which stated that the recall repair cannot be performed because the manufacturer has not released the remedy under the recall. The dealership also stated the replacement PTU part is available for retail purchase but is not authorized for recall installation. The vehicle is being operated in winter conditions without all-wheel drive, increasing the risk of loss of control. The manufacturer has provided conflicting information, with the recall assistance center stating the recall was resolved, while the dealership and VIN recall system continue to show the recall as incomplete. Warning messages related to the drivetrain appeared prior to this complaint. The vehicle has not been repaired, and the recall remains open with no timeline for remedy.

-There is a warning that pops up on the dash saying "4WD unavailable, needs service". It's winter and I can't use the "snow mode" or 4WD. -Potential for issues if I get stuck in the snow. -Took it to a repair shop to deal with the service light and they told me there was a recall. I was unaware until today. -Went to Jeep dealer and was informed there is no fix available at this time. It appears the recall was issued January 16, 2025.

Since December 2025 we have had a "Service 4WD" light on our dash. Recall 01C was announced on 01/26/25. I have contacted Jeep dealers and Chrysler customer service with help/resolution to this. That all tell me to wait for parts. It's been a year. When will this be addressed???

NHTSA #11713241

Service 4WD/AWD light appears every time I drive the car. Similar to a recent recall that was issued on the 2019 Jeep Cherokee for the PTU problems. Brought to dealership to diagnose the service light and the dealership confirmed the problem, which was similar to the recent recall.

NHTSA #11721426

The power transfer unit in my Jeep Cherokee 2019 Latitude failed and required a replacement, at significant cost (over $2000). It is my belief that Jeep’s recall campaign (ID - O1C) was too narrow and ought to have included my vehicle. I have called Jeep three times without a proper answer to my concern. The failure of the power transfer unit was publicly described as a safety issue and I was unable to drive the vehicle for nearly two months.

NHTSA #11719125

Service 4WD light came on and stays on. Odometer flashes continuously. No 4 wheel drive functions operate. Dealer scanned for codes. Determined the transfer case control module was defective. Replacement did not fix the problem ($600.00). Then the fix was new tires because the front tires were worn more than the rear ($ 1000.00). That did not fix the problem either. Now we wait for the recall to materialize. The recall came out a year ago ( JAN 2025). Still no parts or fixes available for this problem.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the 4WD warning light was illuminated, turned on and off, and then remained illuminated. There was an abnormal clunking sound while driving at 15 MPH and accelerating. Upon research, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a PTU internal shift fork binding that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

There is a current recall for Jeep Cherokees 2017-2019 for a faulty PTU. My vehicle is not included in the recall, however, it is displaying issues consistent with the PTU. In auto drive-mode, there is a low grinding noise up to 18 mph. In snow, sand, and gravel drive-modes, there the noise is constant to at least 30mph. When the fuses were removed to try to disable the PTU, the noise was considerably louder at all speeds in auto drive-mode. Once the fuses were reinserted, the noise went back to the original under 18mph in auto. There are no noticeable issues with the braking or steering systems.

NHTSA #11696933

The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee failed, producing a “Service 4WD” warning and DTC C14A7-97 (“PTU motor obstructed/blocked”). An authorized dealer removed and inspected the PTU and documented internal damage (metal debris and worn components). The dealer charged over $1,400 for the teardown/diagnostic and then reassembled the failed unit because Stellantis could not supply a replacement part. The AWD system remains inoperative, creating a potential loss-of-drive/safety risk while driving. Importantly, the dealer Dicks Dodge/Jeep in Wilsonville, OR failed to disclose that this is part of an active technical service bulletin (STAR Case S1721000016 Rev A) and related to NHTSA Recall 25V-011 affecting 2017-2019 Cherokees, repeatedly missed promised callbacks, provided no timeline for parts, and offered no substantive remedy other than suggesting a trade-in. The dealer’s lack of communication and refusal/ inability to obtain parts left me with an un-repaired, potentially unsafe vehicle and billed for work that produced no fix. The component is available for inspection upon request.

We have been advised by a Jeep Dealer that this vehicle's PTU is failing and needs to be replaced immediately before the car can be driven again. There is a current recall on other 2019 Jeep Cherokees with the same issue, "Loss of Drive Power from Damaged PTU", but our Jeep is not covered under this recall although it exhibits the same symptoms and is diagnosed with a failed/damaged PTU that needs to be replace. From everything that was reviewed and reviewing the recall it is the same problem that is reflected in the recalls that Jeep made on other 2019 Jeep Cherokees. We have been quoted by the dealership that this is a $3000 fix and when we contact Chrsyler/Jeep, FCA Stellantis customer service, they are not willing to assist with getting this fixed on the vehicle. There appears to be a significant amount of information in the public that this is a known issue for these vehicles. We would like to issue a complaint regarding the matter. The "SVC 4WD" indication light comes on and off over that last 3 weeks. At times on the hightway I hear a loud noise with vibration, and loss of powe when driving. I took my 2019 Jeep Cherokee to Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Morgantown on 10/13/2025 for diagnostic inspection for this issue. The dealership advised that I needed to replace PTU assembly. There is currently a recall NHTSA 25V-011 (OEM 01C) of which Jeep Cherokee's built between 10/11/2016 and 02/20/2019 were affected. Recall cites this issue may cause vehicle to crash or injure others outside the vehicle. My vehicle was built 03/18 (within the timeframe), however, my VIN number does not return as having any recall notices, even though I am experiencing the exact issues described in the recall. started squeaking, so we replaced brakes, control arms with bushings, then it started smelling really bad and losing power. When the engine starts, manual shift is not available. Extremely pungent toxic fumes released into the cabin requires recycled air to be on always or the car is not drivable. Oh, and loss of power, like dropping into a low gear when should be in a higher gear. Smell is noxious. Dealer reports Stellantis has not provided parts, updates or any further information. Don't drive much so didn't notice until Government Shutdown ended, I was asked to return to the NSF offices 40 miles from my home. Smell became really evident at that point.

There is a pending recall on this vehicle for the past 8 months. There is still no remedy. My trade-in value has plummeted. I'm experiencing issues related to the PTU recall, and the dealership is telling me there is no known remedy. The vehicle randomly loses drive power / gains drive power. They know the PTU is what is likely wrong with the vehicle, but are refusing to fix the issue, because the recall doesn't have a remedy yet. How long does it take for a manufacturer to find a fix for this? Jeep should be responsible for paying / fixing this recall, yet they aren't because there isn't a remedy.

Received an initial letter about the recall in January 2025 -with no resolution offered.. warning light went on in the vehicle on August 24, 2025. Took a vehicle to dealership today, August 25th. Dealer has informed me there is no fix, no timeline on a fix, but told me they cannot release it back to me because it is not drivable. I now have no car a full-time job and no way to get there with no timeline of when this will be resolve.

NHTSA #11688143

“4 wheel drive service is unavailable and needs to be serviced” message appeared in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee in August 2025. Wouldn’t stay consistently on, but warning would pop up at least once every time I drove. Warning became more consistent, and in September 2025 I took my car to the dealership for my state inspection, where they investigated this indicator light concern. Diagnosis was “Found obstructed shift fork in PTU, recommend replacing” but the part is currently on back order. I learned that there is a recent recall on 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokees for a PTU issue, however my VIN is not currently included in this recall. I’m concerned that this issue is affecting my jeep since I’m getting a warning and need my PTU replaced, and I’m even more concerned because I can’t get it repaired due to back order.

NHTSA #11690934

Vehicle has a "4WD SVC" light on. I took it to the Jeep Service center to get it diagnosed and it turns out the vehicle will need a PTU (Power transfer unit). I was told that it is not covered under their 01C recall and that i would have to pay for the replacement which is almost $4000. I find it unfair since the vehicle is having the same symptoms stated in that recall and there is a class action lawsuit of this PTU failing since it is a very known issue. This vehicle is very unsafe to drive because it could just shut down on me randomly while driving. This will be the second time this vehicle will need the PTU replaced and i already paid them $400 for diagnosis.

NHTSA #11682748

The rear differential is suffering from corrosion, which caused a slight leak. If it fails, the car will suddenly cease operation, which could result in a collision. The part was inspected by the dealer, and said it could take up to 3 months to get a replacement. As of yet, no warning lights are active.

Since late last year we have experienced intermittent shift slippage when going from just starting out to automatically shifting to next gear. This has happened many times. We never knew about any recall until we took vehicle to dealer ( Manahawkin Jeep ) for another issue with the oil filter housing leaking. The vehicle jerks forward and is not a smooth shift. The problem has not been inspected by the manufacturer or anyone else except the owner. No warnings or messages about issue.

There has been a safety recall issued since January 16, 2025. Today's date is August 11, 2025. To this date there is still no remedy available. I own two Jeeps with this same recall as part of my business. I am losing close to $3,000 in revenue per month between the two. I'm quickly approaching lost revenue of $21k. Is there a time requirement for manufacturers to address their safety recalls? Seven months is far too long. Thank you.

NHTSA #11679950

The power transfer unit (PTU) failed, which is part of Recall 01C. A warning light came on, which prompted me to bring the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership inspected the vehicle, confirmed the PTU had failed, and stated it is unsafe to drive. They also confirmed there is no remedy or replacement part available at this time. Because of this, the vehicle cannot be safely operated and I have been left without transportation.

NHTSA #11682199

The PTU has went out, as confirmed by the dealership. The 4 wheel drive on the vehicle stopped working in August of 2025. The lack of engagement of the 4 wheel drive has left me with little to no traction. The vehicle slips on wet pavement.

2019 Jeep Cherokee. In December 2023, when I took my foot off the brake at a light, the car stalled out and would not start afterward. I was using the auto start/stop feature. Of course it started when the tow arrived, but I took it to the dealer anyway for safety. I had a new starter put in under warranty by the dealer. Code was a faulty starter. In April 2026, the same thing happened and was not covered because the 2 year warranty expired. Stalled out, while taking my foot off the brake at a red light. I had forgotten to turn off the auto start/stop. Thankfully, I was in a safe area and people were able to go around me. Private mechanic said a wire was out of place and a battery cell was a little low. They fixed it, but 1 month later it happened again in May 2026. It was taking a split second longer to start and it did not feel very powerful in comparison (same thing in April). This time, I returned to it after work, and it simply would not start. I assume the starter had simply died due to hearing 1 "click". Not sure why another starter blew in 2.5 years! I am fortunate to not have been stalled on a major highway! They've been coded as faulty starters, but how long are these things actually supposed to last? 2.5 years is way too short. Currently waiting to get my second replacement starter since buying the car used in November 2020. Has over 155,000 miles. No complaints other than this. I do not use the auto start/stop.

Bought car, got 4WD not available light on dash, got car "scanned" at multiple outlets and there is no "code". Took to local mechanic and he diagnosed it is the PTU (power transfer unit) and told me there was a factory recall. Contacted Jeep dealership, told them of the problem, they said my vehicle is not included in the warranty but they would diagnose for me. They did and told me it will be $3,000 to fix, but that is "if" they can get the part. Told me they located the part at 2 other dealerships, but those locations won't sell the part to them. They said they are trying to get the part, but it is on back order. When I called to check they said they still haven't been able to get the part, but won't give me any concrete information about when they can fix it.

I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I recently learned that a specific part on the 2018 Jeep Cherokee was recalled due to a known defect (Oil Pump Recall (Recall T65 / NHTSA 17V-670). My 2019 Cherokee is now experiencing the exact same issue that was identified in the recall for the previous model year. Because the problem appears to be identical to the 2018 recall condition, I believe this may indicate a continuing safety defect affecting additional model years that were not included in the original recall campaign. I am requesting: 1.A formal review and investigation into whether the recalled part on the 2018 model also affects the 2019 Cherokee. 2.A FULL refund to what I paid to have this repaired. And yes a receipt can be provided. 3.Written confirmation of the steps you will take to address this matter. This issue is a safety concern, and I want to ensure it is properly documented and investigated. Please advise on how this can be resolved. I have already received the official recall notice, but I have been told by both my local mechanic and FCA representatives that there is still no remedy available. In the meantime, my vehicle is exhibiting exactly the defect described in the recall and is now unsafe to drive. Here is my experience: In early 2024, while running errands, I stopped at a red light before making a left turn. When the light turned green, the car would not move forward. I had to turn on my blinkers while other drivers were honking. I panicked, tried turning the car off and on, and eventually it moved again. This same issue has happened four other times since then. Most recently, on 8/22/25 the car left me stranded in a grocery store parking lot. It was full of groceries, making multiple alert sounds, and would not start. My cousin had to leave what he was doing to try to jump it; when that didn’t work my brother and nephew went to buy a new battery. When they returned, the car started on its own and we returned the battery. We took the vehicle to our local autozone to run tests in which it passed all. Since that day, every time I turn the car on it stalls momentarily before starting. I have also called certified Jeep dealers in my area who have stated the parts are unavailable and there is no ETA on their availability.

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, on August 6th around 545AM, while on Highway 70E In Maryland, my Transfer Case completely seperated itself (Per Repair Shop). I immediately pulled over, there was lots of smoke. Roadside Assistance towed my Vehicle to repair shop. Repair Shop and Jeep Dealership have told me that the Transfer Case won't be in for approximately 2 Months, due to the Large Quantity on Order for the 2019 Jeep Recall, however my VIN was not on this Recall and clearly this is a known issue. Since this is a known issue, and so many being on Order, why is my VIN not apart of the recall and since it just completely separated causing a huge sudden safety issue, what needs to be done to add this to the Recall?

Safety issue involving loss of power and braking Prior to receiving a PTU recall notice in January 2025, my vehicle began experiencing sudden and unexpected loss of power while driving, particularly when braking. Since that time, the issue has worsened significantly and now occurs more frequently. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to accelerate properly after braking, creating dangerous situations in traffic. In at least one incident, there was a loss of braking power that nearly caused me to run a red light. Several of these incidents were near-accidents and occurred without warning. I have brought the vehicle to my local Jeep dealership three separate times and fully explained the loss of power and braking concerns. Each time, I was told that all issues are “directly related to the PTU recall,” that there is currently “no solution,” and that “nothing can be done.” The vehicle was returned to me without repairs despite the safety risk. The dealership has acknowledged the issue but has not provided a fix, alternative transportation, or assurance that the vehicle is safe to operate. With a longer commute and the problem occurring more often, I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle and believe an accident outside of my control is inevitable if this continues. This defect presents a serious safety hazard involving loss of acceleration and braking while driving.

Started financing this vehicle 11/8/25- driving on the interstate on 11/27/25 I started hearing thumping noises coming from my vehicle, I thought it was the road so I turned my radio and everything off and listened and it continued so I pulled over. I put the vehicle in park, walked around my vehicle to check for flat tires and to see if I possibly ran over something and there was nothing. I put it in reverse and it pulled itself back a little.. I put it back in park and checked around the vehicle again. I got back in the vehicle and put it back in drive and it wouldn't budge. I sat on the side of the road for over 6 hrs, 2 hrs away from home. My dealership didn't put in any of my information or transfer for the vehicle at the time it was suppose to be put in at signing and so I was out almost $600 in tow charges back to the dealership because my warranty hadn't went into effect. I've had 4 loaner vehicles threw this dealership which in return has caused me to lose my job because of other defects wrong with those vehicles as well. The mechanic at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle looked at it and told me that the rear differential had went out. And that the warranty company denied my claim. The dealership messaged me on 1/5/26 to come get my vehicle, that it had been fixed and was ready to go. On 1/6/26 I was proceeding to take my partner to work and as I was pulling out to leave, the vehicle started to make the same noises as before. I pulled back and parked my vehicle back. We have lost income now over this matter and possibly another job if we continue to call in or can't make it to work. I have 3 small children all under the age of [XXX] . I've called the Chrysler/jeep dealership and everyone says they can't help me. I've pointed out the recalls of the same matter on other jeep Cherokee's and how much of a safety issue this is. Vehicle is available for inspection any time. 1/6/26- the vehicle also had a warning sign pop up on the dash for the auto start. There was a recall issued in January of 2025 (recall 01C). However, I am being told that my VIN is not covered under this recall. I contacted the manufacturer (Jeep) and there were not able to give me a reason why the 01C recall does not cover my vehicle. The NHTSA referred me to the manufacturer. But I keep getting the runaround and nobody is providing me a clear answer on this issue.

This Jeep suddenly started smoking while driving. Driver immediately pulled over and noticed oil all over on ground. Towed to mechanic and the transfer case has a large crack and the rear differential is bad. Repairs exceeding $4000. Also, on a regular basis the car loses power while driving. Driver has to pull over and restart car. This has not been fixed yet. Not sure what it is. Both issues are known issues for Jeep Cherokees and also this year Jeep. Yet there is no recall for this VIN number. The costs for fixing this and the dangers are unacceptable. Scared about the power loss and not sure what my mechanic will find. This car should be included in the recalls for both issues. I am super disappointed in Jeep. I filed a report with Jeep cares and will also be contacting the attorney general and a consumer attorney. These issues need to be included in the existing recalls for this VIN number. Also, mechanic had to get a refurbished transfer case because there is a backlog of new transfer cases. Clearly this is a big issue.

While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the engine randomly shuts off without warning. This has happened multiple times at different speeds. The vehicle suddenly loses all power, and I have to coast to the side of the road. There are no warning lights, messages, or diagnostic codes before or after the stall. The specific component causing the failure is unknown, but it seems related to the electrical/engine/powertrain system. This failure puts my safety at serious risk because the engine dies unexpectedly in traffic, which could easily cause a rear-end collision or loss of control. I had a diagnostic scan done at AutoZone and no trouble codes were found. There were no symptoms or warning lamps prior to each incident ,the engine simply shuts off while the vehicle is in motion. This is a recurring safety hazard.

Based on dealer inspection, the failure requires complete replacement of the engine long block assembly, indicating an internal engine failure rather than a minor or maintenance-related issue. The vehicle and failed components are available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were placed at significant risk. The vehicle first shut off completely while I was proceeding through a four-way stop intersection, forcing me to restart the vehicle while stopped in the middle of the intersection. Later, while driving on a very busy highway, the vehicle again lost power and became completely inoperable. I was barely able to maneuver the vehicle onto the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a collision. The vehicle then would not fully shut off despite multiple attempts, further indicating a serious malfunction. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer, Krebs Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Gibsonia, PA. After diagnostics, the dealer issued a repair estimate calling for full engine long block replacement with an estimated total cost of approximately $13,900, confirming the severity of the failure. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Jeep dealership listed above. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer directly, police, or insurance representatives to my knowledge. There were no warning lamps, dashboard messages, or noticeable symptoms prior to the failure. The shutdowns occurred suddenly and without advance notice.

Power Train,Forward Collision Avoidance1 queja

When driving the Jeep Cherokee (51,000 miles), I experienced numerous incidents where the car experienced sudden power loss climbing a grade followed almost immediately by numerous warning lights and a message that "4WD System Unavailable" as well as a message that the forward warning system had failed. Under these conditions, the car struggled to make even 50 mph and would only do so in a much lower gear at 4000+ rpm. Prior to each incident, the car had been driving smoothly at 70 mph at approx 2200 rpm. Both the Jeep dealer and the local repair obtained the same error code (DTC C14A7-97 PTU Motor Component) indicating internal failure of the PTU (transfer case). When the repair shop removed the transfer case they found metal shavings in the PTU lubricant. With no PTUs available from the Jeep dealership for months it was necessary to purchase a salvaged PTU at near-new pricing. I note that there is a similar recall but it does not cover my vehicle. I also note there are numerous NHTSA complaints for identical problems being filed nearly daily for 2017-2021 Jeeps. This defect is a serious safety issue that can result in complete driveline failure or an inability to maintain speed with traffic. It also results in approx $5000-7000 in repair costs for each PTU replacement.

1. The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failed, which also caused damage to the transmission and rear drive system. The PTU is part of Recall 25V-011 / Jeep Campaign 01C. The failed components and all related service documentation are available for inspection upon request from Boone Jeep (July 8, 2025) and Randy Marion Jeep (September 10, 2025). No, PTU part was available. 2. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly jerked hard, lost all power, and became inoperable, putting me and other motorists at immediate risk of collision. The vehicle also would not go into Park, creating a rollaway hazard once stopped. These incidents occurred with my grandchildren in the vehicle, making it a severe safety concern. Despite confirming the PTU recall diagnosis, Jeep returned the vehicle to me with no repair available or timeline for a fix, forcing me to continue driving an unsafe vehicle. 3. Yes. Boone Jeep confirmed the PTU failure on July 8, 2025, after diagnosing major jerking, grinding, and loss of power. Later, Randy Marion Jeep also confirmed on September 10, 2025, that the PTU had failed again and that the rear drive and transmission were also damaged due to the same issue. The September 10th one was after I had the transmission replaced. 4. Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by two authorized Jeep dealerships (Boone Jeep and Randy Marion Jeep), acting as manufacturer representatives. Both confirmed the PTU failure and associated damage. No police or insurance inspections have been conducted. 5. Yes, warning light Service 4WD first appeared around springtime this year. This PTU defect has now caused multiple drivetrain failures, including the transmission and rear drive, and continues to pose a serious safety risk. The vehicle remains unsafe to drive, and Jeep has no available remedy for Recall 25V-011 / 01C. Immediate manufacturer action is needed to provide a repair or reimbursement.
