While vehicle was at dealership service department for an oil change, dealer performed FCA (Forward Camera Assist) Update recall. After leaving dealership, the vehicle displayed several warnings. "Check Emergency Stopping function", "Smart Cruise Control disabled", and "Forward Safety system limited". This never happened previously, and these safety systems became disabled within two miles after leaving the dealership where the update / recall to them was performed. The recall was intended to prevent unnecessary emergency braking. Somehow the update resulted in completely disabling that safety system. Invoice from dealership shows 17012 miles out, and photos of dashboard show 17014 miles. Return appointment for them to look at this is three weeks out. Contacted Hyundai customer service to report this.

The forward collision automatic braking happens randomly and for no reason causing immediate and complete stops in the middle of traffic. It whips the head forward as if a crash had occurred and causes drivers to the rear to have to suddenly brake to avoid collision. Ive had it occur multiple times since purchase with the most recent being this morning in the middle of a roundabout. I know I can disable the system but 1) that's also a safety risk and 2) it turns back on every time I start the car which is unacceptable. Ive asked the dealership about it and was told that it cannot be disabled. I already have the sensitivity turned down as much as possible and it still is happening. This issue makes an otherwise wonderful vehicle almost uunrivaled. When this happens there's no warning before the sudden braking. It also will randomly just slow speed down for no reason and with no way for the driver to stop it. Something needs to be done. Fix the system and make available a way to disable it without it auto turning back on. Im fed up.

My car abruptly stopped due to the emergency braking system when the car in front of me braked (hard) but I had more than enough time to stop without having the emergency braking system engaged. Due to this, the car behind me hit me from behind damaging my bumper, trunk, and back lights
NHTSA #11740016
There have been two instances now within about 4 months where my 2025 Hyundai Tucson's emergency braking/anti forward collision system has engaged completely unnecessarily, slamming on my brakes and almost causing the car behind me to hit me. In both cases there wasn't a car in front of me within at least 100 feet. In both cases I was going probably 30-40 miles per hour.
NHTSA #11738046
The forward emergency braking system on this vehicle is a hazard not a safety feature. I have almost been rear ended 3 times because of it and have had my neck and back hurt from the quick sudden stop! I was not even at risk of getting into an accident! This feature needs to be permanently disabled! I still owe 30 payments on this car but will be getting rid of it if i can't disable this permanently.

I was going northbound on highway 77 in Bloomington, MN, switching lanes to get on an exit ramp to westbound 494. Another vehicle in front of me was also changing lanes but I had slowed down so we can switch lanes appropriately as we were both going at decent speeds and as I was braking and this car ahead of me crossed lanes, my forward collision warning activated and emergency braking occurred which inappropriately activated and caused me to abruptly stop while driving on an exit ramp on a freeway. Luckily the car behind me did not hit me but it was terrifying and scary and I had my two young children in the car. I have set up plans for updating the software for this vehicle with the current recall.
NHTSA #11741253
The FCA engages in situations that are not dangerous. There is a slamming of the breaks which causes items in the car to fly off the seat and nearly cause the cars behind me to rear end the car. This is a dangerous situation and has happened about 6 times since we purchased the car less than six months ago. There is not a way to permanently disable this supposed safety feature.

I was turning right from [XXX] onto [XXX] . It was raining lightly, the car initiated emergency braking and no one was in front of me. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This incident occured in The Woodlands, Texas, about a 45 min drive north of my home. I was headed south on [XXX] . I had pulled into a left turn lane at the intersection of [XXX] . After the oncoming traffic had cleared, I proceeded to make a left turn onto [XXX] . My Hyundai Tucson slammed on the brakes just as I entered the oncoming lane. The FCA was OFF. I was able to hit the gas and start moving forward again before any oncoming traffic got to this intersetion. There was no warning before the brakes were applied. Note, the FCA safety function was absolutely positively turned off. We have gotten into the habit of turning it off to avoid these unintended, unexpected sudden complete stops. Now I'm concerned the FCA system has more problems than just being overly senstive or malfunctioning causing numerous sudden braking issues. Subject: 2025 Hyundai Tucson - Persistent Phantom Braking Issue I am reporting a severe safety defect regarding the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced five separate "Phantom Braking" incidents where the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) engaged abruptly without any obstacles in the path. In the most recent incident, the vehicle suddenly braked from 30 mph to 20 mph] while driving on a highway. There were no cars or objects in front of me. This unpredictable behavior is extremely dangerous as it almost caused a rear-end collision with trailing vehicles. I believe this is a systemic software or sensor defect that misinterprets shadows or road signs as hazards. I request a formal investigation into this safety risk.
NHTSA #11733442
The Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning systems activated while making a left turn after stopping for a red traffic light and locked the brakes of the vehicle in the middle of the intersection with no other car in front of me. Dash alerted that a collision was going to occur. This was the second time. The first time it happened the dealer said it can happen if there is a bug or dirt on the sensor in the bumper or dirty windshield by the camera, they even said it can happen with glare from the sun or light glare.

I was stopped behind another car in a through-lane in the parking lot at Marshall's. I was fully stopped about 1 car length behind another stopped car. I decided to make a left turn (from my stopped position) into a perpendicular through-lane in the same parking lot. Just after I drove my entire car to the left of the parked car, my Hyundai Tucson slammed on the breaks. There were no cars coming toward me in the oncoming through-lane. There were no cars in front of me or coming toward me in the perpendicular through-lane. The FCA was OFF. Again, I don't understand why the car is appying the brakes while I'm going forward if the FCA is off.
NHTSA #11733883
The Forward Collision Assist system applies hard braking when there is no danger. This happened twice today at low speeds (1-2mph) Once in a drive through and once in traffic in a parking lot. Luckily, the truck behind me did not rear end me. My concern is what if it starts doing this at higher speeds? I feel it is dangerous.
NHTSA #11726101
When driving in daylight at about 5 pm in light traffic at speeds of about 20 mph the car suddenly had a dead stop. My grandsons, ages [XXX] and [XXX] were in the back seat with seat belts but their and my drinks went flying. There was no potential collision that precipitated this and luckily the car behind was not close enough for a rear end collision. This has happened 2 or 3 times previously and I think this "safety feature" which cannot be turned off is a safety hazard. I also had a disturbing experience when I left a lane briefly to give a bicycle rider more space. The car suddenly tried to pull me back into the lane and I had to fight the wheel to keep it where I wanted the car to be. I was able to disable this feature. The car has only 7K miles and is almost a year old. I am a good driver and am concerned that I will get into an accident due to unwanted safety features! Thank you. On at least three occasions, the emergency braking system has engaged when there was no risk of a collision. The vehicle ahead was moving forward and was a safe distance ahead. This has occurred even when the forward collision system is set to "Late." When the emergency braking system engaged, it stopped the vehicle with such force that it threw items in the back seat forward into the foot well and was very jarring for me, the driver. This has made me anxious when driving the vehicle and is very frustrating.

On March 16, 2026, my wife was driving our 2025 Hyundai Tucson westbound on Immokalee Rd in Naples, FL. She was traveling at a speed of 35mph, with no vehicles in front of her, but the Emergency Braking system engaged without warning and caused our car to come to a screeching stop. Several cars behind my wife's car had to avoid slamming into to our car. There are no bridges, overhanging tree limbs or other structures over the roadway. The weather was clear skies and sunny, and the time of day was noon. After this incident, we contacted the dealership from which we bought the car (11/15/25) here in Naples. We brough the car in for diagnosis but have not heard back from them. While there, my wife was approached by a dealership salesperson who overheard our story, and she implored my wife to "please report this incident...this phantom braking issue is a big deal..." Our salesperson did not admit to having heard of such issues, but he offered to buy the car back from us. We will wait to see what their formal evaluation produces and make a decision at that time. This could have been a deadly accident if the cars behind my wife had not avoided running into her.

I was driving inside a parking garage, making a right hand turn at a very slow speed (5 mph?), when my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid slammed on the breaks while in a right hand turn. There was a wall directly in front of me, perpendicular to the direction I was heading before I started to make my right hand turn. The wall was at least 15ft away. I was never at risk of hitting the wall. The breaks were applied after I was into the right hand turn. Most unusual, as I had the FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance) system turned OFF and I confirmed this by observing the symbol on my dashboard that indicated the FCA was off as soon as the breaks were applied. I don't understand how the car applied emergency braking going forward when the FCA was off.

The brake assist feature engaged when a second car cut a corner in front of me in Peoria AZ. The brakes engaged, and while waiting for the auto brake to release, a third care came up very fast behind me. I hit the gas in fear of being rear-ended. Apparently, in fear I simultaneously pulled on the steering column and the steering column pulled out beyond its normal range. The telescoping adjustment feature no longer works. The steering wheel is locked in a downward and elongated position. I took it to the local AZ Hyundai dealer for warranty repair and they said it was due to the Kirkland Hyundai dealerships failure to install a pin that locks the steering column in place after installing a lo-jack system. The column is not covered by warranty. There were no warning signs except the dangerous auto braking system, that caused a series of failures in the vehicle. This is the 4th time this braking system has almost caused a rear-end crash. The AZ Larry Miller Hyundai dealership suggested I contact the Kirkland Hyundai dealership in WA for damages. Damages to replace the steering column and replace the missing pin lock are nearly $3000.00 There are no pictures as the steering column has been reassembled but is bent and needs to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, while attempting to accelerate, the brakes engaged unexpectedly. On another occasion, while driving approximately 60 MPH, the brakes unexpectedly engaged without driver input and failed to properly respond for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle resumed normal operation afterwards. The Forward Collision Avoidance early detection sensor indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,946.

The adaptive cruise control reduces speed when the car's driver camera "senses" that driver is distracted when in fact, this occurs frequently within even a 30 minute drive: it senses "distracted driving" due to wearing sunglasses, short stature making in cab camera have difficulty seeing eyes of driver, etc. This is a frequent problem in my car and a frequent problem in driver forums. This is unsafe when it slows car without warning and is stressful. Upgrades needed for safety.
NHTSA #11717385
I was driving straight in the left most lane on an expressway, about to make a left turn on a green left turn arrow. The vehicle in front of me was making a U-turn. My Hyundai Tucson abruptly braked quite hard. I'm not sure what caused it but I'm guessing the vehicle making U-turn slowed down a bit before the U-turn and might have triggered a forward collision avoidance braking but I didn't feel like there was a need. This caused the vehicle right behind me to also abruptly brake and if they hadn't, they might have rear-ended my car. After making the left turn, the vehicle behind me angrily overtook me because they likely didn't know it was the car's system which did this
NHTSA #11716034
On two occasions, the automatic emergency braking system engaged potentially causing an accident. The first occurred at an intersection where I was attempting to turn left from a stop. The system would not allow me to proceed until the bus attempting an opposite left turn left the intersection. The weather was clear and sunny. The second occurred while on a freeway onramp. There were no vehicles in front or to my side. The AEB detected a phantom threat and immediately braked to a stop. The car behind me was barely able to avoid rear ending my vehicle. My passenger was a witness to this jarring event. The weather was clear and sunny. Both incidents occurred with an odometer reading of <3500 miles. My local Hyundai dealer has attempted to recreate the phantom breaking, but were not able to recreate the circumstances and therefore not know what system required repair/replacement. The case #42211163 was assigned. Given the uncertainty of when the system will inadvertently break and the inability to permanently turn off AEB on this vehicle, I am very concerned about driving the vehicle.

Driving south on a busy 4 lane divided city street, as I approaching an interestion I initiated a right had turn with about 1 car length gap in front of me. I was driving about 5 mph. The car suddently applied the brakes to a full stop. The car behind was able to stop in time and not hit me. There was no risk of me hitting the car in front of me.
NHTSA #11715747
Hard braking first occurred on a major highway with no prior notice that this would happen in close call accidents. The cars traffic had to veer away from me in order to avoid hitting me. Another highway (95) incident was a 18 wheel semi that had to move to the shoulder and could have easily totaled my car and me. I then researched this and found I could delay the action be setting the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist mode to "Late". This helped in giving notice for some time, however the hard braking occurred again on a regular two lane small highway as I switched lanes, saw a car stopping suddenly and the brakes locked up. (This is the latest incident as dated below). There was no "Late" warning, the brakes just locked up. Being in fear of my and my families life I did further research and found that I could disable "brake assist" and only get warnings - which is what should be the default - BUT, this must be done each time I start the car. If my wife drives and forgets to do this each time I now fear for her life!!! This is not a simple matter. It is unconscionable and horrible this type of control over basic transportation is allowed to exist. This must be addressed and corrected! I'm all in on helping make meaningful change to this issue.
NHTSA #11712915
The automatic braking that happens when the car sensor thinks you are too close to another car is dangerous. This has happened to me three different times when there were cars in front of me turning right. There was plenty of room and the car was turning so I was following, and it not only slams on the brake and makes you stop, but then it takes it a minute to reset before you can move again which then can slow traffic. I was almost rear ended two of these times. It is unsafe. You can manually turn it off, but you have to re set it every time you get in the car. I have seen many complaints about this occurring and causing people whiplash as well due to the sudden stopping on Hyundai sites.
NHTSA #11719485
Had just turned out onto a major road and started to accelerate. At approximately 30 mph forward collision system alerted and applied automatic emergency brakes even though the next car was several car lengths ahead of me and there was absolutely no risk of forward collision. The vehicle immediately behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear ending me. Thankfully, this was coming out of school zone so their speed was not high. At regular street speeds this malfunction would have likely resulted in a crash with injury. During the time that the automatic brake system was activated I could not override. I used gas pedal but car would not accelerate until the system stopped, perhaps 2-3 seconds later. Car was purchased used within last month and had an inspection by seller then, but I am not aware of any inspection by manufacturer/ dealer.
NHTSA #11712309
The emergency breaking system automatically engages whenever it feels it wants to. It has become extremely dangerous to drive the vehicle on a daily basis. I have been in contact with Hyundai, Hyundai consumed affairs and have brought the vehicle back to two dealerships to see if they can duplicate the problem. They have been incredulous thus far and still I am left with the safety issue. I feel very scared to drive the vehicle. I am not sure what to do at this point because Hyundai said if they can’t duplicate the problem then the vehicle is working as designed but is it going to take a serious accident for this to be taken seriously. It has been happening since September 2025. Thank you
NHTSA #11711728
The forward collision avoidance engaged when it was unnecessary and nearly caused me to be rear ended. It doesn't slow you down, it brings your vehicle to a complete stop and leaves you stuck unable to move for a few seconds... just long enough for the person behind you to read end you. This is incredibly dangerous. I would speculate that this feature will result in many rear end wrecks and should be addressed expediently or Hyundai may risk a significant class action lawsuit.
NHTSA #11712773
The Automatic Emergency Braking system, I think it may be called (or is a part of) the Forward Collision Avoidance system by Hyundai, triggered incorrectly while on Interstate 265. My car was travelling at about 35 MPH on the off ramp when the Automatic Emergency Braking system triggered and cause my car to rapidly decelerate to a near standstill. The vehicle following behind me had to swerve into another lane to avoid hitting my car. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The component has not been inspected yet, but we will be bringing it to the dealer in the near future. There were not warnings or messages that this was about to happen other than the emergency sound and light when the Automated Emergency Braking engaged. This has happened twice before on other roads and in other situations with this car.
NHTSA #11710675
I started to accelerate from a full-stop to turn left at arrow onto highway ramp and car's emergency brakes came on with a real jolt - almost rear-ended by semi behind me. So scary. So dangerous. Backache, now, too.

During the winter, my car would activate the forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking while I was driving when there were no other vehicles in front of me or even around me. It happened several times over a few day timespan, at the time I thought it was because I had gotten a car wash when it was colder weather and maybe the water had affected the system but now I see that there is a recall for this same issue.

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the Forward Attention Warning (FAW) system had failed to detect the driver's eyes while wearing sunglasses, causing the cruise control to disengage unintendedly. Several messages advising the driver to pay attention to the road were displayed. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while wearing prescription glasses and while the driver was not wearing glasses. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the system could not be disabled because the manufacturer considered it a safety feature. The dealer informed the contact that a software update was previously performed over-the-air to correct the issue; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
NHTSA #11732500
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced intermittent phantom braking; the vehicle violently and suddenly slammed on the brakes with no obstructions present, causing the contact to sustain shoulder and back pain on several occasions. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened. Additionally, the contact stated that the standard Smart Cruise Control (SCC) disengaged while driving. The contact stated that the failure had been intermittent, requiring the driver to manually re-engage the cruise control mode. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

The car in front of me, 8 to 10 feet ahead, slow down and turn on their blinker. My car slammed so hard on its break. It threw me and my dog forward. It never gave us a warning until it slammed. There was plenty of time for me to slow down, but also the car was partially already in the turn lane. There is then 223 seconds where my car will not move forward. I am a sitting duck to cars coming behind me.
NHTSA #11706559
The automatic brake system triggers when there is no obstacle. It has caused the car to stop suddenly in the middle of the road and almost become rear ended several times. We took it to the Hyundai service center and they said they’ve had complaints of this before but checked the system and don’t see any issues.
NHTSA #11707526
I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I’ve had multiple incidents where the Forward Collision-Avoidance system applied sudden hard braking when it wasn’t necessary, creating dangerous situations. I don't think I will be fortunate every time. I believe there is a serious issue with how the Hyundai's FCA system is operating and it needs to be investigated as a priority. Currently I am driving with it turned off every time I start the car. On my research I found this issue has been reported by multiple other drivers as well and I don't see any acknowledgement or reference from Hyundai on this so far.

My wife was driving our Hyundai Tucson on the city street at about 35 mph. She signaled left to get into a turning lane. The turning lane has two lanes and is very long. She got into the turning lane and the traffic in front of her stopped. The car's collision avoidance system activated and slammed on the brakes even though the vehicle was not very close to the cars in front of her. As a result, a vehicle behind her rear ended her causing over $9,000 in damage. This car has done this before on the highway and city street. The collision sensitivity setting was on normal and had been since we got the car and until the accident. I had also been driving the car when the collision avoidance activated. The problem with this car is that it only knows to slam on the brakes and results in getting rear ended. It does not gradually apply the brakes even when the car in front is not very close and locking up the brakes is not necessary and is actually unsafe as shown when my wife was in a rear collision accident. This is a major safety problem and needs to be looked into.
NHTSA #11733047
The automatic braking was inappropriately applied while I was coming to a controlled stop on a 45mph stop light intersection. I was already slowing down and about 30 feet behind the car in front of me the Collision Avoidance warning starting going off, slightly applied brakes (to the additional amount I was already applying) then slammed on the brakes to a complete stop. There was some teen behind me who wasn't paying attention, and obviously no one expects the car in front of them to slam on their brakes 30 feet behind the cars in front of them, then plowed into back end of my car. This isn't the first time it's happened and I wasn't even at risk of collision as I was already slowing down in the other instances. But this time it caused an accident and injury. I am suffering from whiplash and possible herniated disk. The system is on the Late setting as well but is still dangerous to drive. There needs to be a firmware update or sensor recall, this is very dangerous!

The first time that the failure occurred, the contact's wife was driving in the rain, and a beeping sound was coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle stopped independently. The vehicle returned to normal functionality after several minutes. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while his wife was driving in slow traffic, there was an abnormal beeping sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle independently stopped. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality minutes later; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

We were driving on I4 in stop and go traffic. Our speed was under 25 mph and we were over a full car length back from the vehicle in front of us. I was actively braking to come to a stop due to traffic and the forward collision / emergency braking kicked in and stopped us immediately. This caused a car behind us to almost hit us and cause an accident due to sudden stopping. This happened 3 separate times within a 30 minute timeframe with 2 different cars behind us. The system will take control of braking the car and the steering wheel, and will not always give it back immediately to be able to continue driving. This has occurred previously when slowing down due to someone turning in front of us just in every day driving, and has almost caused a wreck then as well. Our local Hyundai dealer said there was no recall or issue with the system. This is dangerous and going to cause an accident sooner or later.

On numerous occasions (over 20) the forward collision system just slams on the brakes to a full stop, there was nothing close enough to vehicle to cause this issue. Sometimes it’s caused by rain or wind, sometimes for no apparent reasons. One time it caused a no damage accident as person behind me tapped my bumper. In traffic it is set off often with nothing within a safe distance away. There was no obstacles or sudden movements from other vehicles around me. I have brought the car back too Hyundai 3 times only to tell me either a dumb excuse or nothing is wrong with vehicle. I have seen on forums there are a lot of incidents with this particular car We have serviced the vehichle 3 different times over this issue and were told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle Accident happened in summer so I will say there was a crash in additional details but last date occurrence of automatic stop was this morning

The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is braking aggressively without a valid hazard, creating a serious rear-end collision risk. Incident 1 [XXX] , approx. 60 mph) : A vehicle legally changed into my lane with safe separation. The FCA system detected this as a collision risk and applied hard braking on the freeway. Following traffic had to brake abruptly and I narrowly avoided being rear-ended. Incident 2 (Intersection U-turn, 15 mph): While completing a permitted U-turn on a green light, the FCA detected a distant cross-traffic vehicle and suddenly braked in the intersection, leaving me stopped in an unsafe position. I set FCA sensitivity to the minimum/“Late” setting after the first event. The false hard-braking continues. Hyundai dealership [Anaheim Hyundai] states “no issue found.” This behavior is repeatable and unsafe. I request investigation into false positives and unintended hard braking, a software remedy, and guidance to disable automatic braking until fixed (warning-only) if permitted by Hyundai.Currently even if it is disabled it resets after the SUV is turned OFF. I realized there are multiple threads on reddit on the same issue for Tuscon 2025 models with some of them resulting in accidents. FCA system slammed brakes all the way to a complete stop in middle of traffic for no reason. Car in front was slowing down, and I was already braking at more than a safe distance. This is completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous. There needs to be a way to permanently disable this overkill feature that creates way worse problems than it is supposed to solve. There are numerous complaints about this issue from other owners of this model, please help!

I was driving on the road this morning approx. 25 mph (clear road, no rain, snow etc.) The car came to a full abrupt stop. Collusion/warning notification never came on (there was nothing in front of me) seatbelt locked. Car would not move. I put the car in park and had to turn the car off and back on to get the car to move. This honestly scared the life out of me. I had several cars behind me that could of rear ended my car and caused serious harm to myself or other drivers. I called the dealership (will be dropping off this evening) but they made it very clear that if they can not duplicate the problem there is nothing that they can do. The car has 8,000 miles on it and was purchased in April 2025.

11/2/2025- The forward collision warning and the automatic emergency braking system engaged and brought my vehicle to a complete stop in the middle of the road when there was no imminent danger of a forward collision occurring. My vehicle was rear ended by the vehicle behind me as a result of the sudden and complete braking of my vehicle. This same incident happened a few days before this collision, but there was no vehicle behind my vehicle, so no rear end accident happened at that time. 12/1/2026- vehicle inspected at Jim Click Hyundai regarding the sudden stopping of the vehicle. Jim Click determined a fault code FRONT CAMERA BLOCKAGE. Dealer said they cleared the code and the problem should not return. On or around 12/8/2025 the 2025 Hyundai again had the front collision avoidance system randomly setting off alarms when the vehicle was driving on the freeway and other vehicles were traveling alongside the 2025 Hyundai. There was no emergency braking occurring at this time. 12/9/2025- the 2025 Hyundai returned to Jim Click Hyundai and at that time the dealer determined the front camera was showing an obstruction when none was there. They replaced the front camera with a new camera. 12/28/2025- the same problem of the front collision avoidance system and the automatic emergency braking engaged again, even though there was a new front camera installed on the vehicle. The 2025 Hyundai vehicle came to a complete stop in traffic. The vehicle ahead 2+ car lengths ahead swerved from the left lane to the right lane to avoid a box in the road. Driver of the 2025 Hyundai was applying the brakes when the 2025 Hyundai emergency braking system took over and the 2025 Hyundai came to a complete stop in traffic when there was no need for this. 1/2/26- 2025 Hyundai returned to Jim Click Hyundai and remains there while the Service dep't is driving the vehicle trying to diagnose the cause of the continued emergency braking problem.

Multiple times my vehicle has come to a complete stop unwarranted. There have been multiple instances of the automatic braking triggering on Michigan left hand turns with no traffic oncoming. This was reported to the dealer and they found no issue, however it has happened again since. The vehicle has also multiple times come to a full stop in heavy traffic when I was already braking and a full stop was unnecessary. There were two instances from this where I was very nearly rear ended, including on the expressway. There were no warnings that the system was malfunctioning.

Forward collision alert system has slamed the breaks on for no reason. The vehicle begins abruptly stop for no reason. On two of the occasions I was almost rear-end by following vehicles. The system needs to be recalled.

While driving at speed in heavy traffic, I quickly merged from the right lane to the left lane to avoid an obstacle. My vehicle and the new vehicle in front of me (in the left lane) were traveling at approximately the same speed, although there was an admittedly small (one half car length) distance between us. My forward collision assist inaccurately identified this new vehicle in front of me as a sudden danger that I was going to hit. It immediately applied full braking power and played the forward collision alert sound. This aggressive and unexpected stop spilled and broke items in my car as they slid, roughly strained me against my seat belt, and caused the vehicle behind me to aggressively brake. A rear end collision was narrowly avoided, only due to the fast reaction of the driver behind me. This aggressive and dangerous forward assist and emergency braking can only be temporarily disabled for one drive, and resets every time the vehicle is turned on. I have not had my vehicle inspected for this issue, but communities on the internet have confirmed that this is a common problem.

Sunroof exploded I was driving at high speed on a highway. sounded like a gun fired. glass must have flown back towards other cars. Noise was terrifying and I slowed to gain my composure before pulling to the side of the highway and calling the police. Car is currently at a local dealership. My initial thought was that something like a rock hit the sunroof, but on my own inspection it appears the explosion was outward. there is no evidence of something falling on it. no scratches on the inside roof cover which was closed at the time. No makes on the roof rack or scratches on the car roof. There was no warning of any kind from the vehicle that it might occur. after doing some research I discovered that there have been many cases of exploding sunroofs on Hyundai cars. Dealership is under the assumption that a rock hit the roof, but are not willing to give me a report of an examination into what might have caused it. They disregarded my conclusion that it exploded outward.

Vehicle is 2025 Hyundai Tuscon purchased 12/31/2025. On April 18th, as I was backing into my garage i noticed that I could not see through the right side end window. On closer look I noticed that the glass was shattered without any spots of particle hit or point of impact. I stopped and took pictures, took the vehicle to Potamkin Hyundai and the service guy also took pictures. I went back on April 21 to see the service manager who also took pictures and advised me to give them some time to review. After about 1 week, I got the message that the request for replacement under Manufacturer Warranty had been declined and that I would have to replace this on my own.

On 4/14/26, the glass area between the sunroof and directly above the front windshield, cracked and subsequently shattered. There was no impact and currently there is no damage to the sunroof or windshield. Upon checking online to figure out what this area is called, I discovered that this is a common problem with Hyundai vehicles (spontaneous glass cracking/shattering). This is a safety issue as shattered glass could get lodged in the vehicle or fly off the vehicle and injure someone. I have an appointment with a local Hyundai dealer tomorrow morning (4/19/26) to inspect the issue.

The display on the dashboard that includes the speedometer and other information goes completely blank. So does the heads-up display on the windshield. This could occur at the same time or individually. It may last only a few seconds or for several minutes. This has happened since I bought the car about 1.5 years ago. I've had it to the dealership and they have noted the problem but have not been able to fix it. I know that Genesis, which is part of Hyundai has had recalls about this problem, but so far Hyundai has not. Since it involves a loss of the speedometer, I think that it is a safety problem and should be addressed. It happens almost every time that I drive the car.

there is a "consider taking a break" / coffee cup message that appears on the dashboard and BEEPS uncontrollably. It is annoying and distracting. It is of ZERO VALUE since it is always FALSE. It came up 5 times on my first 45 mile highway drive. this is NOT safety feature and in fact is REDUCING safety as it it annoying and makes me frustrated/mad instead of calm. Hyundai says there is no ability to disable it/turn if off as there was in their previous models.

The horn on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited failed without warning in mid January 2026 and no longer functions. This creates a serious safety risk because I was unable to warn another driver while they were merging into my lane on the highway. Without a functioning horn, I cannot alert other drivers to avoid potential collisions. The vehicle was inspected by Balise Hyundai in Springfield, MA, on January 23, 2026, and the dealership confirmed the horn requires replacement. However, they cannot cannot order the replacement part because it is unavailable, possibly due to a redesign or manufacturer change. Hyundai Consumer Affairs has acknowledged the defect and confirmed there is no timeline for repair. They are not allowing dealerships to order the old part and do not have a timeline on when the redesigned part will be available. Because the horn does not function, my Massachusetts State Inspection sticker is expired and cannot be renewed until the horn is repaired, making the vehicle illegal to operate. There were no warning lamps or prior symptoms before the failure. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

I purchased the 2025 Hyundai Tuscon Limited in October this year. My conern is the headlights. When driving at night using the normal headlights, on the road on the left side shining there appears to be a black spot ahead of me. I've had asked front seat passenger if they noted it also to which they affirmed. I did asked my Hyundai Dealer about this and they stated that it is intended that way so that the oncoming vehicle is not blinded by my headlights. I'm driving on a 4 lane divide highway and it is very disracting to me as I feel I cannot see anything on the left side of the left lane when I am in the right lane. This is very distracting and they informed that it's that way on all of thier moderls

I started the car and put it in gear and it would not move. Then the check hybrid system and transmission warning showed up. This happened two times and I had to have the car towed in. Bought car end of April brand new. June 25 brought in, console display went blank. Tried to start my car 11/10 and it would not recognize the key. Had to have it towed to dealership. Car battery was not dead, fob could start car, open doors, etc, but the car shut off as soon as you tried to start the car inside. Originally told fob problem. Nope. The told security control. Nope. Now being told it’s the BDC, basically the “control brain” of the car. Part is back ordered and my car is sitting parked at the dealership. It’s useless. Did some research and found that the BDC is becoming more and more common with a lot of people that have this car. It’s only 7 months old. No warning, dealer knows it won’t recognize fobs and not a fob problem. I was told, that the screen going blank in June was connected to this.

3 incidents of same braking component. Once while exiting a parking lot, the car slams breaks so hard while accelerating that car slams to hard stop with no warning. Once while driving through an intersection brakes engaged for no reason. Once after stopping at Red light, then when moving with traffic, car stops so hard with no warning that we were almost rear ended and seat belt left marks and bottom of car seemed to hit the ground. These violent automatic breaking events are scary because for no reason or cause and no warning the car suddenly hard brakes. Fear of being rear ended or car flipping from such sudden and hard breaking. This incident has not been inspected although the car is current on all maintenance and has been recently in to car dealer for oil change.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Automatic braking system brakes for no reason when I am not near any cars traveling at high speed or even when I am already at a complete stop or moving very slowly but not anywhere near hitting the car in front of me. This has happened multiple times since I leased this car in July 2025 and it seems to be getting worse. I had a 45 min drive home today and it happened about 7 times all for no reason. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It slams on the brakes unnecessarily and the cars behind me almost rear end me. This has happened on residential roads and highways. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I just called to take it in. They seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? not yet but I am taking it in asap Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? On at least three occasions, the forward collision system incorrectly determined there was an imminent collision when a car or truck was simply coming over into my lane. The Tucscon locked the brakes, bringing the car to a full stop in the middle of high-traffic roads even while the car in front was pulling away. I was unable to give the car gas to continue driving forward. On two occasions this was on an interstate, going from almost 70 mph to stop when there was no car or obstacle in front of the car. It created a very dangerous risk of being rear-ended. The car did display the message "Collision Warning" on the instrument panel, emit an audible alarm, and shook the steering wheel.

I was on the freeway about 2 minutes and the car flashed a red warning then slammed on the brakes and I flew forward. No cruise control and no buttons hit or anything automatic. Another time, I was merging to freeway on ramp (with 2 lanes merging and going to freeway). I was on the left right lane towards the on ramp and another car came speeding next to me on other the on ramp right lane. All of a sudden, my Tucson says emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds. slamps the brakes. I am not sure if the other speeding car made a sensor think I was going to merge into him,or him into me, or the sensors didn't detect the lane markings. It's my daily route to this ramp and it has not occurred in the past. These emergency braking incident has happened several times (4-5 times in a month) to me, usually during a highway drive similar to those above. I have to turn off the forward collsion to stop this happening and it comes back on everytime when the car starts from a off.

I was driving on the highway in heavy traffic going about 65 mph. An unusual symbol appeared on the dash in red that I don't know what It was or what it meant but I thought it must be something serious. Then a warning came up saying for me to take a break. Then a different warning came up saying that I should take control of the car immediately, it was about to brake. The car immediately began to brake. Fortunately I was in the right hand lane of the three-lane highway and I was able to pull into the breakdown lane. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I was in the middle or far left lane. I was not unobservant and both of my hands were on the steering wheel when this happened. Once the vehicle stopped, the symbol on the dash disappeared and the brakes released. I was able to resume driving. Although there was no accident, injury or fire, and no police report needed, this does not discount the seriousness of this event. This could have been life-threatening if I had been in a different lane or had panicked, causing a multi car pileup in the heavy traffic. Serious enough that I feel the need to get rid of this car.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection? The forward collision avoidance (FCA) system malfunctioned. The front camera system appears to have triggered unintended hard braking beyond normal driver input. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was safety put at risk? While approaching a vehicle in front of me, I was gradually slowing down and applying the brakes normally. Without warning, the vehicle suddenly applied significantly stronger braking than intended. This abrupt and excessive braking caused the vehicle behind me to collide with my car, creating a dangerous situation and increasing the risk of injury. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? UNKNOWN. The issue has not been reproduced since the accident, and it has not yet been confirmed by a dealer. However, the incident is consistent with Hyundai Recall NHTSA Campaign Number 26V316000, which describes unexpected and premature activation of the forward collision avoidance system. Has the vehicle been inspected? The vehicle has been inspected by insurance representatives following the accident. It has not yet been inspected by Hyundai or a dealership specifically for this recall-related issue. Were there any warning signs before the failure? There were no warning lights, alerts, or messages prior to the sudden braking event. The braking intervention occurred without advance notice. Additional description of incident: At the time of the incident, I was approaching a vehicle ahead and applying the brakes gradually under normal driving conditions. The vehicle then suddenly applied much stronger braking than expected, consistent with automatic emergency braking intervention. This abrupt deceleration caused the vehicle behind me to rear-end my car. This behavior matches the defect described in Hyundai Recall 26V316000, where the forward collision avoidance system may activate unexpectedly and apply excessive braking.

Over the past four days, my vehicle has repeatedly applied braking unexpectedly without a valid obstacle or need to brake. This has occurred multiple times under normal driving conditions, including: Twice on the freeway in stop-and-go traffic with vehicles at a safe distance ahead Multiple times on regular city streets with vehicles ahead at approximately 15–20 feet Once while turning into my driveway as my garage door was opening In one instance on the freeway, a vehicle behind me nearly collided due to the sudden unexpected braking. The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (Automatic Emergency Braking) system is set to “Late,” yet the vehicle still applies braking unnecessarily. This behavior did not occur previously and has started happening repeatedly within the past four days. This creates a significant safety risk, particularly in traffic where unexpected braking can cause rear-end collisions. The vehicle has approximately 1050 miles and has not been modified. The issue is currently being evaluated by a Hyundai dealership and has been reported to Hyundai Motor America under an open case.

Subject: Safety Concern – Excessive Automatic Braking (2025 Hyundai Tucson) I am reporting a safety concern regarding the automatic braking system (Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist) in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle frequently applies sudden and aggressive braking in situations where there is no immediate collision risk. This occurs during normal driving and low-speed parking scenarios, including when passing nearby objects, backing out of parking spaces, or maneuvering in tight areas. The braking is abrupt enough to create a potential safety hazard, including: - Risk of being rear-ended due to unexpected deceleration - Disruption of normal traffic flow - Reduced driver confidence and control This behavior appears overly sensitive and does not align with actual collision risk in many cases. I have attempted to adjust the system settings (including warning timing), but the issue persists. Additionally, the system resets upon restarting the vehicle, preventing a consistent mitigation of the problem. I am requesting: - A review of this system behavior as a potential safety defect - A software update or calibration option to reduce braking aggressiveness - The ability to permanently adjust or disable this feature Please advise on next steps and whether this issue is known or under review. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Automatic braking engages when there is no actual hazard present and brings vehicle to a full stop. This causes a serious whiplash hazard to me and my passengers as our heads are thrown forward unnecessarily. It also significantly increases the risk of being rear ended by the vehicle behind me. This has happened on several occasions. Today it occurred because the car hit a small bump in the road while doing less than 10 mph. Google Search confirms that this is a widespread and well-known defect and that Hyundai has not been willing to release a software upgrade that allows owners to turn-off they automatic braking feature from the dashboard control panel. Immediate action by NHTSA is required before somebody gets seriously injured or killed by this defect.

I rented this vehicle for 5 days. In those 5 days, twice while driving on the highway (at 5-10 mph under the posted speed limit due to heavy traffic, dry and clear weather), I found it necessary to brake hard due to other vehicle traffic braking hard in front of me. When I had slowed down sufficiently and felt I had sufficient space between my vehicle and the one in front of me, I let off the brake pedal, but the "forward safety" feature continued to brake until the vehicle came to a complete stop nearly causing the vehicle behind me to hit my vehicle. To be clear, no accident occurred, but in one of those instanced the vehicle behind me was within 1ft of hitting my rear bumper. Had the vehicle behind me not been able to stop in time, there would have been an accident, and because the brakes were locked by the computer, I could not have done anything to prevent it. After the second incident (on 2-15-2026), I looked through the vehicle setup information and found it is possible to disable the "forward safety" feature to prevent additional incidents, however, that setting can only be changed then the vehicle is stationary, and it automatically turns back on every time you start the vehicle.

The forward collision avoidance system in this generation of Hyundai tucsons is dangerously flawed. We previously had a 2020 and no issues, but this one slams the brakes at the drop of a hat and has nearly caused several accidents as there is no good reason for the intervention (ample space to leading vehicle) and it brakes so hard that cars behind typically need to veer to avoid rear end collision. This is not a one-off event or linked to particular driver/driving style - both adult owners of this vehicle have experienced this on multiple unrelated occasions. All sensitivity setting have been set to minimum and the only way to drive with peace of mind is to completely disable the system - but here is where the next massive design flaw is: the system automatically reenables at each re-ignition; there is not permanent override, which is EXTREMELY dangerous. It is not practical to manually disable the system on each drive because you need to navigate multiple system menus to adjust the setting. Google and user forums confirm this collision avoidance system is a widely experienced and complained about safety issue for Hyundai and it should be investigated. People will likely get killed due to this “safety feature”. Ideally Hyundai should push a recalibration for those who want this feature AND enable a permanent override option in the system settings for those who don’t.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson PHEV at approximately 6,600 miles. The failure manifested through multiple concurrent symptoms. First, the vehicle displayed a "car not charging" warning light and completely refused to accept an electrical charge when plugged into a charger. Simultaneously, the Check Engine Light illuminated on the dashboard. While driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden and unsafe loss of propulsion power when attempting to drive uphill. This sudden drop in power created a hazardous driving condition in traffic. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Hyundai dealership, where technicians ran diagnostics and officially confirmed that the ICCU had failed and required a complete replacement.

I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I have observed 6+ incidents when my instrument cluster went blank and rebooted in the middle of the road while the vehicle is moving. This seems to be widespread issue with no resolution from Hyundai what so ever. I have raised this issue with Hyundai as well.

Bought new, less that 400 miles in November 2025. Within 2 weeks dash board went blank/black. I consider this a driving distraction especially at night when nothing shows, no speed no gauges. Blackout time varies each occasion. Sometimes after a few seconds all warning light come on and stay on until vehicle shut off . Sometimes a NO GIGNAL message. Contiued after service visit with update to vehicle at about 7300 miles in January 2026. Service department acted like they have never heard of this issue.

Before I owned this car, I used to get so frustrated whenever I was driving behind this type of vehicle because the rear blinkers are mounted so incredibly low in the bottom bumper that you can't see what the driver is doing. Now that I actually own a Hyundai Tucson, I feel completely responsible for the drivers behind me. Because I know how low my blinkers and reverse lights are, I have to turn them on way before I actually turn, and I'm always worried someone will hit me when I'm in reverse. On top of that, my friends who drive behind me constantly tell me how bad it is and how hard it is to see my signals because of how low they sit.

The heads up display and dashboard display go black while driving. Sometimes it flickers on and off repeatedly which is very distracting while driving. When it is off, I cannot see speed, fuel, etc. A recall was issued for this problem, however my vehicle VIN was not included in the recall, meaning the dealer will not address it. Additionally because it happens randomly it is impossible for the dealership to recreate it with the small amount of time they can allot to driving it try to recreate the issue. Because the dealership has not been able to reproduce the issue, it continues.

The HUD and dashboard on 2025 Hyundai tucson hybrid restart intermittently during driving, often during temperature change (e.g. from an indoor parking lot to outside) or on bumpy roads. Sometimes the HUD and the dashboard black out for a while during driving, making it impossible to determine the speed and vehicle conditions. This is threatening to safety on highways. This first happened on my new vehicle at about 5000 miles and was confirmed by a dealer. The dealer replace the main wire harness and the problem went away for a while. Now it comes back at about 8000 miles.

Since taking possession of the vehicle, I have experienced two incidents involving the automatic emergency braking system activating unexpectedly, despite no obstacle or hazard being present. During one of these incidents, the vehicle braked abruptly and forcefully enough to cause an injury to my wrist. On March 7, 2026, I brought the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, where it was confirmed that there is an issue with the front right camera, which appears to be affecting the forward collision and automatic braking system. In addition, the vehicle required premature brake pad replacement due to persistent squeaking. Experiencing brake component issues on a brand-new vehicle raises further concerns about the integrity and reliability of the braking system. Brakes are a critical safety component, and premature wear or abnormal behavior so early in the vehicle’s life undermines confidence in the system designed to protect drivers and surrounding traffic. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms prior to the failure. The first instance occurred within 30-days of taking possession of the vehicle. The second two months later.

On 4/3/2026 heading to [XXX] on I 95 (outside of [XXX] ) traveling with traffic (3-4 lanes) I was in the middle lane going approx 74mph when on 5 separate but in close approximation (estimated within 20 mi) times, my car which was on cruise control, suddenly threw up warnings to pull over, shook my steering wheel, yanked my car toward the left lane (with traffic flowing the same way as I was) and suddenly decreased my speed to 64 mph before I could regain control! It was a beautiful, sunny day with no precipitation. Cars were swerving and beeping . My family was in the car. I stopped all cruise control and drove the remaining five hours to my destination scared out of my mind. I called local dealership, country club Chevy, dodge, jeep, Hyundai etc. at 607432-9300 and told Gavin what had occurred. I was unable to get into a dealership while I was in [XXX] for the brief time I was there. On my way home I tried cruise control on I 95 in the right hand lane all the way over so that no traffic could be on my right side. It was a beautiful day. It happened again to me, the warning lights, the decrease and speed the yank to the right the shaking steering wheel and the sudden breaking while I was in the state of [XXX] . I turned off cruise control again. I didn’t have a problem after that. When I I returned home, , I took the car in to be looked at at the dealership . They said they couldn’t find anything wrong. I contacted Hyundai motor corp at 800-523-4030. Case number 42576997 was assigned. I was put to Hyundai finance. No resolution. I contacted Hyundai Corp Office at 714-410-4382 and spoke with Mohammed. To date, as of May 7 there has been no resolution as the dealership doesn’t have access to drive this car on a 4 Lane Rd. as we live in a real area. I do not feel safe driving this car. The front end collision avoidance “feature” slammed on my brakes so hard today, for zero reason. I was already braking, going less than 20mph and had plenty of room. This is NOT the first time, closer to double digits since I purchase in April. This time the car behind me narrowly avoided hitting me which was made worse as my vehicle takes too long to unlock and allow me to begin driving again. This is going to cause an accident and ruin my tires/brakes costing me money.

On XXX, my vehicle unexpectedly activated its automatic braking system while driving, resulting in a rear-end collision. My infant daughter was in the vehicle at the time. While we were fortunate to avoid catastrophic injuries, the incident placed both of us in significant danger and could easily have resulted in a much more serious outcome. The other driver may also have sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The vehicle sustained approximately $20,000 in damage. Since the accident, I have learned of Hyundai’s recall involving this braking system. Given the circumstances, I am deeply concerned that the condition addressed by the recall contributed to the collision. What is particularly troubling is that this was not the first time I raised concerns regarding the vehicle’s braking behavior. On February 23, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., I spoke with my dealership, North Bay Hyundai in [XXX] regarding unexpected braking behavior that I was experiencing with the vehicle. My concerns were not escalated, and I was not advised that a potential safety issue might exist. Several months later, I was involved in a collision involving the same system that is now subject to recall. I am also deeply concerned by the manner in which this recall was communicated. I received only a text message regarding a defect involving a critical vehicle safety system. Given the potential consequences of unexpected braking events, I do not believe the seriousness of this issue was adequately conveyed to affected customers. I am reporting a serious safety and reliability concern with my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. At only about 2,000 miles, I was informed by the Hyundai dealership that the transmission has already failed and needs to be replaced. This vehicle is essentially brand new and should not be experiencing a major powertrain failure so early in its lifespan. The transmission issue has caused significant concern regarding the safety of the vehicle. Sudden failure of a major drivetrain component creates an increased risk of loss of power, unpredictable drivability, and unsafe operation in traffic. This is especially concerning because this vehicle was already given to me as a replacement for a previous Hyundai Tucson that qualified under my state’s lemon law. A transmission failure at such a low mileage indicates a possible manufacturing defect or a systemic quality issue that could affect other consumers. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter to determine if this is part of a broader problem in the 2025 Hyundai Tucson model line. This situation is unacceptable for a vehicle this new, and it raises serious concerns about long term safety and reliability. I am seeking further review and action so that other consumers are not placed in similar unsafe situations.

The dashboard and heads up display intermittently goes on and off. All warning lights are on when the dashboard comes back on. It goes off long enough to not know how fast you are going. Hyundai has this as a known issue for Limited trims of the Hyundai Tucson yet they only tell you to take it to the dealer for the vehicle to be fixed. Customers have taken their vehicle back to the dealership after the dealerships stated that the issue was fixed because the issue happens again a few days later. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

Component that fails & available for inspection upon request? HVAC heat exchange and faulty gas gauge. I drive from Minneapolis to Warroad, MN frequently and the floor wells has insufficient heat hence impairing use and safety in Minnesota's severe climate. I have videos on the following but I am unable to upload videos to your site: (1) when I have heat on high, full blast and to foot well ONLY, the dashboard vent is 115-143 degrees (using a digital food thermometer) and a ~60 degree difference with the footwell at 65-85 (although 85 degrees sounds warm at 1 degree outside my feet are very cold - I would be happy to have you test this with me). (2) Brand new SUV consistently 1.5 - 3 hrs to warm up. I explained to Hyundai this is NOT a software issue rather an HVAC air exchange issue. (3) The gas gauge consistently underestimates the remaining fuel available by 50% in cold weather - an issue that between Bemidji, MN and Baudette, MN (102 miles/1hr 45min) there are few gas stations. On 11/11/2025 I took the SUV to first Bloomington Hyundai - they said it is working as designed. Then 11/20/2025 to Morries Hyundai said they are aware of a similar situation with the EON. However, without an "error code" Hyundai is unwilling to fix the air exchange. Additionally, I opened case#: XXX[XXX] -68 with Hyundai corporate - additionally they are unwilling to admit fault - this vehicle should NOT be sold in Minnesota's extreme climate conditions. How was your safety of others put at risk? If I run out of gas, my passengers and I risk frost bite or fatality of hypothermia. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer service center? Yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer? Yes. Were there any warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning messages have ever appeared. Forward collision assist is dangerous. It engages when not necessary and has almost caused several wrecks by slamming on the brakes. On 5/14/2026, while driving southbound on I-95 with my pregnant wife and young daughter, my 2025 Hyundai Tucson (approx. 7,500 miles, purchased new 10/2025) experienced multiple critical safety failures. Two days prior, the heads-up display (HUD) intermittently failed to activate. On 5/14, traveling at 65-70 mph near [XXX] , the brakes auto-applied without driver input. Simultaneously, the instrument cluster and HUD went completely black, eliminating all speed and vehicle status information. This recurred intermittently. Near [XXX] , the brakes auto-applied with full force, locking all four tires and bringing the vehicle from approx. 70 mph to a complete stop on the active interstate. Two trailing vehicles spun out and left the travel lane to avoid rear-ending us. A multi-car pileup was narrowly avoided. The vehicle was taken to Pearson Hyundai in Midlothian, VA. They diagnosed and replaced a faulty wiring harness. Immediately after the repair, driving northbound on I-95 back to [XXX] (5/16), the lane keep assist/lane departure system began pulling the steering wheel into the adjacent lane without driver input, repeatedly and unpredictably at highway speed. The dealer repair did not resolve the all defects. Within a three days this vehicle exhibited: (1) total instrument cluster/HUD failure, (2) uncommanded emergency braking at 70 mph causing two other vehicles to take evasive action (3) uncommanded steering input into an adjacent lane. These failures created immediate risk of serious injury or death. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My vehicle has an ongoing safety‑critical defect involving the braking system, powertrain, and ADAS logic. I have not driven the vehicle since 04/27/2026; all diagnostic trouble codes were recorded while the vehicle was in the dealership’s possession. On 05/05/2026, the vehicle stored multiple DTCs, including C164286, P071300, P076800, U060FF1, U060F29, and U061386. On 05/13/2026, P071300, P076800, U060FF1, U060F29, and U061386 were recorded again, showing repeated powertrain, communication, and control‑system faults while the vehicle remained with the dealer. On 05/22/2026, two additional safety‑related DTCs (P107600 and C272146) were first recorded, and both were last reported again on 05/27/2026, still while the vehicle was in dealer custody. These DTCs now show as Historical because the vehicle has not been operated since the last fault was recorded. Their Historical status only means the system has not run a new check — it does not mean the defect is repaired. The vehicle has also exhibited brake‑logic abnormalities, including a persistent Brake‑ON signal at highway speeds, which violates Brake‑Throttle Override safety logic and affects ADAS functions. The powertrain shows signs of torque converter instability, mechanical drag, abnormal slip, and heat buildup documented across these dates. Two OTA updates were performed during periods of instability, but neither corrected the defect. The dealership has not provided documentation confirming the safety issues were resolved. Because the braking logic, powertrain behavior, and repeated DTC activity remain unexplained and unresolved, I do not believe the vehicle is safe to operate.

The cars speedometer screen and radio screen go black and sometimes flicker on and off. This makes it impossible to see the speed. Also the car stalls sometimes when this happens in traffic. The autonomous braking applies the brakes even when there is a large distance from other cars and objects to the point where it has almost caused me to get into an accident on numerous occasions. The driver attention alert comes on and off over and over again even though I’m fully focused on driving and well aware of what is going on and this sometimes happens in a sequence where all of the warning lights illuminate on dash. Sometimes all of the warning lights display on cluster after it goes black and then car says to shift to park when display goes back on causing safety concerns for me in traffic. In addition my sunroof glass is making a loud noise like it’s going to crack.

The underbody shield is held up partially by plastic nuts that get loose casing the shield to rattle at speed over 60mpg. I read multiple reports from other owners on reddit. Tightening these plastic nuts help ressolve the rattle temporarly, but the nuts are flimsy and keep spinning. You can't really tighten them well. A good remedy from Hyundai would be to replace these flimsy plastic nuts with metal ones that stay tightened and secure the underbody shield in place. Had an issue with driver assist radar when in complete control. Until you’re not! Brakes lock up skidding tires and causing seat belts to lock up. It happens so suddenly it scares you to the point of heart attack. This has happened: merely backing out of driveway, when accelerating in your lane with car in turn lane beside you turning right. And most recently on FL Turnpike while in stopped/slowed traffic due to emergency vehicles trying to get to scene of Naples wildfire. When I accelerated as traffic resumed at slow speed the car locks up brakes, squalling tires and slewing sideways. It startled me so much my heart was racing and I didn’t know if the car was still running or not. There was an 18 wheeler coming up behind and I was frozen not knowing what to do next. I don’t know if sensitivity can be adjusted or what it needs but my heart can’t take many more of these incidents. I will report to dealer as well. I know there is a Reddit thread about these same issues that my daughter found on researching this issue.

The car was backing out of a driveway in Reverse. Came to a stop to shift to drive, and recieved a "shift system malfunction! Service immediately" screen message and the car was locked in the middle of the roadway unable to be put into any gear or be turned off. It was a huge roadway safety issue. The tow driver had to search for a code or sequence of commands to put it into neutral to be able to be safely lifted onto the tow bed, and the vehicle was stuck in accessory mode, which effectively drained the battery.

Vehicle began flashing check driver assistance for rear sensors repeatedly while traveling out of state on March 30th with an occasional flash of check AWD/4WD. On March 31st the vehicle flashed the warnings along with a variety of others flashing on the infotainment screen rapidly and shut off while driving. I was barely able to restart to get it safely into a parking lot before it shut down completely without restarting. The vehicle was towed to the Hyundai dealership that it was purchased from. The diagnostics show electrical and safety systems issues. The dealership and Hyundai USA has been less than transparent regarding a repair plan and potential completion date. It is currently April 21st with no end in sight. The vehicle feels completely unsafe to me and I regret the purchase wholeheartedly.

The rearview camera system on my vehicle intermittently and unpredictably malfunctions when shifted into reverse. Instead of displaying the live rear camera feed, the infotainment screen abruptly turns entirely green or blue, completely obscuring the rearward view. Component that failed: The rearview camera system and/or the main infotainment display module. The components are currently on the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: This failure severely compromises safety by eliminating critical rear visibility while backing up. The sudden loss of the camera feed creates a significant blind spot, increasing the risk of backing into a pedestrian, a moving object, or another vehicle, especially in busy parking lots or residential driveways. Dealer confirmation: Yes, this is a persistent defect that has been reproduced, confirmed, and documented by an authorized dealership service center during multiple service visits. Despite the dealer and the manufacturer being informed of this defect over two months ago, neither has been able to successfully repair the vehicle or provide a permanent fix. Inspected by others: The vehicle and the malfunctioning components have been inspected by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer technicians during multiple attempts to diagnose and repair the ongoing issue. Warning lamps/symptoms: There are no warning lamps, check engine lights, or error messages on the dashboard prior to or during the failure. The sole symptom is the immediate and spontaneous green or blue screen takeover on the center display precisely when the vehicle engages the reverse gear.

As of today, March 17, 2026 , my 2025 Hyundai Tucson keeps having safety issues. On March 8th , 11th, 14th and 25th the car once again shut down mid-drive. This issue occurred last month as well but dealership claims no DTCs were found. I am noticing that the forward collision warning comes on without any cars or objects in front periodically since the purchase of my car. The light will remain on for a few seconds and disappear. The automatic brake system seems to be causing issues as well which I believe causes the car to shut off completely mid-drive. Once the car shuts off the panel lights turn on to include the engine light, but then after a few seconds I able to change gears back to park in order to turn car back on and continue driving. This has happened now several times since last month. However, I have had issues with my brand new vehicle since I purchased it last year. My car remained in the dealership for 3 months last year due to an engine, ac and power train issues. Prior to the car shutting off, No actual warning lights illuminate other than the forward collision warning light and the notification of headlights are turned off even though it’s daylight and headlights do not need to be turned on . Periodically and intermittently an alert about consider taking a coffee break alert has also popped up in the past. It seems Hyundai has a severe issue with the FCA operating system and over 100 complaints have been made about this vehicle nationwide and no recalls have been issued. I am afraid for my life and the life of others on the road as this car should not be stopping and shutting off while driving for no apparent reason.

NHTSA Vehicle Safety Complaint Report I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect involving the rear seatbelt in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited. The vehicle currently has approximately 6,000 miles, and this issue has created an extremely dangerous situation for passengers. While traveling out of town, the rear passenger seatbelt suddenly jammed and would not retract or release properly. The belt became completely stuck and unusable. Three adults attempted to safely unjam the seatbelt, but it would not retract or function as designed. Because the restraint system failed, the rear seating position became unsafe and unusable. We were forced to arrange alternate transportation for our passenger because it was not safe or legal for them to ride without a functioning seatbelt. This failure represents a major safety concern. A seatbelt is a critical safety component that should never lock up or become permanently jammed under normal use, especially on a nearly new vehicle with very low mileage. The inability to secure a passenger created a hazardous situation and could have resulted in serious injury if an accident had occurred. I am contacting Hyundai Customer Affairs today to formally report this safety issue. I will also be taking the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and repair, as I do not feel it is safe to drive the vehicle until the defective seatbelt is properly repaired and confirmed safe. Given that seatbelt failures directly impact occupant safety, I believe this issue requires immediate investigation. A restraint system that becomes stuck and cannot be used is unacceptable and poses a significant risk to drivers and passengers. I am requesting that NHTSA review this defect, investigate potential manufacturing or design problems, and determine whether other vehicles may be affected.

Horn inoperative. Vehicle sets diagnostic trouble code C2A23 indicating horn switch / clock spring failure. Multiple owners report similar failures. Horn is a safety device and failure may prevent warning other drivers. This include the airbag that might be affected since the clock spring is having an issue.

The contact rented a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle would stop and would restart independently while driving. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the vehicle failed to respond on several occasions while the gear shifter was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure occurred while there was a vehicle parked behind the vehicle or further away. There was no warning light illuminated. The rental company was informed of the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that upon shifting to reverse on one occasion, the vehicle responded, but unintendedly accelerated. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal was stiff and failed to respond, causing the vehicle to crash into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The contact stated that the distance between the two vehicles could fit two parked vehicles. The contact stated that her teenager was occupying the front passenger's side seat during the incident. The contact stated that the front passenger's side and driver's side seat belts failed to restrain the passengers as needed, causing both passengers to use their arms to protect themselves. The police officers arrived at the scene but did not file a report. Both passengers sustained arm, neck, and head pain but declined to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact stated that the gear shifter was locked after the crash and required two hands to move to park(P). The rental company was informed of the failure. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back to the residence. The vehicle was driven to the Rental Company the following day. No further information was available. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,292.

Issue Type: Intermittent Electronic System Failure / Critical Safety Hazard Description of Incident: A severe safety-related incident occurred while driving at night on 12/29/2025, at approximately 5:48 pm. Under fully dark winter conditions in MA, while the vehicle was in motion with the headlights set to AUTO, the following events occurred: Total System Blackout: All interior and exterior lighting systems suddenly failed simultaneously, including the digital instrument cluster, infotainment display, and backlighting for all illuminated buttons and controls. The complete failure of exterior lighting and interior displays resulted in an immediate loss of forward visibility and access to critical driving information. Duration: The blackout lasted approximately two seconds before the system appeared to reboot. Recurrence: Approximately ten seconds after the first incident, the same total blackout occurred again under identical conditions. Vehicle Status: The engine remained running throughout the incidents; however, the simultaneous loss of lighting and instrumentation created an extremely high-risk driving situation. This incident constitutes a critical safety failure. The vehicle had experienced repeated electrical system failures prior to this incident, and was previously presented to the dealer on 8/7/2025 for diagnosis and repair. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the malfunction and failed to take appropriate corrective action to address these issues: 07/13/2025: The Auto Stop function became inactive, and the vehicle failed to accelerate properly after stopping at traffic lights, creating a hazardous driving condition. 07/14/2025: The phone failed to connect to the vehicle’s infotainment system. 07/17/2025: While reversing in a parking lot, the Parking Collision Warning system failed to detect a moving vehicle behind the car. No audible or visual warning was issued, rendering the safety feature ineffective in preventing a potential collision.

During normal winter operation with the heater in use, the center console area becomes excessively hot. I have measured surface temperatures exceeding approximately 130°F using an infrared thermometer. The affected area includes interior touch surfaces, cup holders, and a factory-installed wireless phone charging pad. The heat appears to originate from HVAC ducting routed through the center console to supply the rear seat vents. Closing the rear vents does not reduce the console temperature, indicating heat transfer through the ducting rather than airflow. The condition is most severe after a warm-soak cycle (driving to operating temperature, briefly parking, then driving again). When a phone is placed in the intended storage or wireless charging area, the device overheats and triggers thermal protection warnings. The console surfaces also become hot enough to present a potential burn risk with prolonged skin contact. These temperatures exceed recommended ambient conditions for consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries in a normal-use interior storage and charging location. The issue was reported to a Hyundai dealership. The service department stated the heat was caused by the rear HVAC duct and considered the condition “normal.” No repair, insulation review, or corrective action was offered, and no specific temperature measurements were provided in writing. Hyundai Consumer Affairs directed me to return to the same service department, despite the concern remaining unresolved. This condition occurs during normal vehicle operation and represents a potential interior thermal safety concern.

On [XXX], my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid displayed a red dashboard alert instructing me to “stop vehicle and check brake system.” The vehicle experienced brake system warnings and a loss of power steering, requiring me to pull over. I immediately contacted Hyundai through the Bluelink system, and the Bluelink operator confirmed that multiple fault codes were visible in Hyundai’s system. I scheduled a Hyundai service appointment at the next available date. On [XXX], before the scheduled service appointment could occur, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total electrical failure while traveling at highway speed (approximately 65 mph). The vehicle lost propulsion and displayed brake system warnings. After reaching the shoulder, the vehicle also lost hazard lights while disabled in heavy rain. The vehicle was towed via Hyundai Bluelink to a Hyundai dealership and removed from service. The occupants at the time of the incident included my wife and my minor child. The loss of propulsion, braking warnings, power steering, and hazard lights created a serious risk of a rear-end collision and injury. Due to repeated and escalating safety-related failures involving electrical, braking, and steering systems, I no longer consider the vehicle safe to operate. The Forward Attention Warning system performs erratically, frequently disabling the adaptive cruise control without warning. Even when it does emit a warning, which again, is erractic, the warning is barely audible. When conditions, such as grooved pavement or loud cabin noises, such as when a window or moonroof is open, the warning is completely in-audible. Similarly, the warning message displayed is not readable within the 0.5 - 1.0 sec (best estimate) that it is shown, as it is several lines of text - a distraction in itself. The disabling occurred during times when this ADAS feature is most value, cruising at highway speeds in heavier traffic - a time when automatic speed control and braking, along with maintaining a clear distance, are all invaluable to driver safety.

2 times, while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle automatically slammed hard on brakes to full stop without any danger or other vehicle near, causing neck pain/whip lash. 3 days ago, I attempted a U-turn in busy intersection, suddenly the vehicle braked hard and came to full stop without any danger near. The dash lights lit up, the vehicle stalled. I was in middle of very busy intersection. It would not move forward. I reversed just in time to miss being slammed into by fast moving oncoming traffic.

The FAWS Forward Assistance Warning System incorrectly identifies a "sleepy driver" and turns off Adaptive Cruise Control. FAWS has a dozen triggers that will cause this system to incorrectly alert the driver that his eyes aren't looking at the road and it turns off ACC. The FAWS has a turn off switch but it does not turn it off. So, without this safety feature of Adaptive Cruise Control, the driver just gets constant alerts to stay alert. Hyundai claims it is working "as designed" and has a suggestion to invest in specific sunglasses, or not be taller than 6'1" so the eyes can be detected, or don't wear a hat. Seriously, these are in the manual.

Blindspot detection did not pick up car on my right side two times. Front collision warning is effected by the angle of the sun at certain times of the day. Dashboard dims randomly. Could be for a minute or much longer. Could dim on and off, or stay dimmed for over twenty minutes. Brought the car in twice for this problem. Claimed nothing found and tech reset the codes. Bought it in two weeks later, stating problem not fixed. Told them to check connection, suggested they might want to replace the cables, and its a known problem. Again, reset the codes. Only this time they fiddled with the dimmer control on the console and I can no longer adjust the setting.

While driving a 2025 Hyundai Tucson rental vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ), I experienced a sudden and unintended acceleration, and the steering appeared to turn without input. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree on a local street two blocks from my residence. The result was the wheel was popped off of it's axel and deflated immediately. Two days prior, I experienced a similar event in the same vehicle — sudden acceleration and braking hard making a loud braking noise. I suspect a mechanical or electronic malfunction. No warning or sensors were alerting me that this would happen. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
