The vehicle has experienced repeated transmission-related failures beginning at approximately 5,000 miles. The dashboard warning “Transmission System Error – Check Transmission Oil Immediately” first appeared while driving and was accompanied by sudden loss of power. When this occurs, the vehicle loses acceleration and drivability while in motion, creating a safety risk in traffic. The only way to temporarily clear the warning is to pull over, shut the vehicle off, and restart it. Photographs of the warning message were documented at approximately 6,738 miles on [XXX] and again at approximately 12,664 miles on [XXX]. The vehicle was returned to the selling dealer in Massachusetts multiple times for the same issue. During the first visit, the dealer drove the vehicle approximately 19 miles but stated they could not duplicate the problem. During the second visit on or about 3/25/2025, the dealer kept the vehicle for approximately six days while providing a loaner vehicle, but again stated they could not duplicate the condition. The vehicle was later inspected by another Hyundai dealer in New Hampshire on 8/19/2025 for the same dashboard warning and loss of power condition while driving. That dealer found the transmission fluid level below specification but stated they could not duplicate the warning message during inspection. Following that visit, the transmission warning did not reappear until [XXX], when the same “Transmission System Error – Check Transmission Oil Immediately” warning returned again while driving. On [XXX], the situation escalated into a possible rollaway event. While at an auto detailing facility, the vehicle was reportedly placed in Park with the engine running after being repositioned. The operator stated the vehicle indicated it was in Park. Moments later, after the operator exited the vehicle, the vehicle moved from its parked position and rolled into a building. The event was documented in writing by the detailing facility. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On November 18, 2025, at 24,370 miles, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic powertrain failure, triggering a dashboard warning: "Transmission system error! Check transmission oil immediately." The vehicle suffered a loss of reliable motive power. This sudden failure is a severe safety hazard that presents a high risk of stalling or stranding in active traffic, which is especially dangerous as this vehicle is used for a 40-mile round-trip school commute four days a week on local highways. The dealership replaced the transmission, keeping the vehicle out of service for 27 days. However, the exact same critical failure occurred a second time on December 24, 2025, at 24,878 miles. The vehicle was once again completely incapacitated and required a second transmission replacement as well as a new TCU, resulting in an additional 50 days out of service. Two catastrophic transmission failures within a 500-mile span on a brand new vehicle demonstrate a highly dangerous defect that puts the driver, passengers, and other motorists at unreasonable risk of a crash due to sudden loss of power.

I have had my vehicle inspected twice for an intermittent issue with the rear driver's-side brake light. The brake light continues to go in and out even though the issue has not been identified during inspection. Multiple people have informed me that the brake light was not working, but when checked later, it was functioning again. Because the problem is intermittent, I am concerned that it has not been properly diagnosed. In addition, I have experienced ongoing transmission and drivability concerns. While stopped at traffic lights, the vehicle has occasionally accelerated unexpectedly or surged, and it can be difficult to shift into gear to proceed. I have also experienced hard shifting when moving from Park or Reverse into Drive. These symptoms continue to occur despite being told that no problems were found during inspection. I am requesting a more thorough diagnosis of both the brake light issue and the transmission/drivability concerns, as these problems are ongoing and may present a safety risk.

NHTSA #11743672

I was driving and the car started to loose power and then the engine light came on and the car would not go. Everything happened at one time. The wrecker took the car to the dealer and the dealer confirmed the transmission went out. It is very dangerous for a new car to have the transmission fail while driving. This is a new car. The transmission failed and it is available for inspection at the dealer. The car is currently at the dealer and I am waiting to find out how long it will take to get a new power train.

NHTSA #11673396

Upon first start up of the day, dashboard notification states “Transmission system error! Check transmission oil immediately”, vehicle will not accelerate over 10mph with this error. After turning vehicle off, error is gone and vehicle operates as normal. Dealership is aware of this notification but states they could not duplicate it & found no issues.

NHTSA #11647221

The transmission is the problem that caused the vehicle to downshift while driving and resulted is a sudden jerk and slowdown in speed. My safety was at risk as the car slowed down suddenly and almost caused the vehicle behind me to rear end my vehicle. But luckily the other driver was able to stop. I previously brought the vehicle to Hyundai service (12/12/24) and they indicated that they couldn’t replicate the problem and there was no situation. The vehicle will be brought to the aforementioned service center again to check the situation (1/07/25). There were no warning the first time it happened, as mentioned earlier and after the second incident the car displayed the message that occurred the first time again which I have attached.

At approximately 1500 miles on the odometer, I started to receive a warning roughly one out of every 3 times I started my 2024 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. The warning would flash red and read "Transmission System Error!, Check transmission oil immediately" and would refuse to move out of first gear, revving to approximately 5000 RPMs. The onboard vehicle diagnostic system reads all systems NORMAL when performed and this error requires a vehicle restart to clear.

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, I was driving southbound on Interstate 95 in Florida at 72 miles per hour in the left lane. As I approached my exit, I attempted to switch to the middle lane when, suddenly, the car stalled. Pressing the gas pedal had no effect, and the car rapidly lost speed. Fortunately, the drivers around me, who were all traveling at speeds exceeding 70 miles per hour, slowed down, allowing me to safely pull over onto the shoulder of the highway. The following morning, I contacted the dealer and drove the car in for inspection. I was shocked to learn that the car, which is a brand-new lease with only 1,500 miles and less than two months old, requires a new transmission. After this terrifying experience, I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle, even after the transmission is replaced. This is my first Hyundai, and in 25 years of leasing cars, ranging from Honda to Maserati, I have never encountered an issue like this. The whole point of leasing a car is to avoid situations like this one. This is completely unacceptable.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while attempting to accelerate to exit the driveway and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. In addition, when the vehicle was shifted into drive or reverse, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from under the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V529000 (Power Train); however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Transmission failure. Problem confirmed by dealership on 7/22. Problem arose on 7/20 with car jumping forward abrublty and started making a clicking noise and hesitating. Did not learn about recall until I logged into my insurance company website to pay my insurance and it listed a recall on my Santa Fe on 7/20. Dropped car off at dealership on 7/22 and was told later that day it would need a new transmission and the dealership was told by Hyundai to give me a loaner car until Hyundai decided what to do about my car. I filed a claim on 7/23 with Hyundai about doing a buy back. I was told I would receive a call in 2-3 business days but have yet to receive one. I called Hyundai on 7/31 and was told my case manager had left a voice mail for me on 7/29 but I have no vm or missed call. I was given my case managers direct phone number and left a vm. Today is 8/1 and my 2024 Santa Fe Calligraphy that I bought on 6/28 and drove for only 3 weeks is sitting in the dealerships parking lot and per dealership, on 7/31 they are still waiting to hear from HYUNDAI. It has 1300 miles on it and luckily I did not get stranded 400 miles away while on vacation. I am very upset that no one contacted me or when problems started to occur with this vehicle, nothing was done and the vehicles were still being sold to the public

Two incidents prior to taking in to the dealership: Thursday, 6/27: Car would not reverse when trying to get out of parking spot. Even though it was indicating reverse it kept moving forward in neutral Friday, 6/28: Car would not go into park. When I tried to set it in park it switched between gears erratically before ending on neutral. Received warning to take it to the dealer and could not turn off car—it stayed in accessory mode. Wednesday, 7/3: Learned from dealer that there was a hole in transmission. No update on how long it will take to be repaired.

Car purchase on [XXX] Within the first week, the car exhibited alarming signs of overheating. The hood was scorching, and heat emanated from the vehicle's exterior, all after just 30 minutes of driving. This was a matter of immediate concern. I took the car to Jim Ellis Hyundai on June 14, 2024. I reported that the car was running hot, the engine was making noise, and heat was coming from it. I also told them that after shutting off the vehicle, the fan blew for another 35 minutes to cool down the car. On July 12, 2024, I was forced to return the car to Jim Ellis due to the same persistent issue. This time, the car was overheating and leaking water under the dashboard. Listed below are all the problems I have had with this vehicle since I purchased The car was reported running hot, and the front hood was hot to touch after driving for 30 minutes. There was a loud noise from the car Noise from car 35 minutes after car has been shut off. I thought I was the fan trying to cool down the vehicle. Water is leaking from under the dashboard by the accelerator pedal. Another issue reported on 8/21/2024 to Potemkin Hyundai The car stops automatically while backing up. Nothing behind me. The car shuts off while switching to reverse or drive. Car stopping while backing up The vehicle rolls backward when shut off. Car shaking vigorously trying to backup out of my driveway. The In-Cabin Camera system is having non stop issues. I have had this car since 2024 and have never experienced issues with this system like I have for the past month or so. I don't know if this is because of the latest update that was done on 11-26-25 or not.The system constantly goes off telling me to keep my eyes on the road when I am staring at the car in front of my while I am driving. It dings and displays the message on the dash which is a major distraction while driving. On the 8th of January I decided to count how many times it goes off. On all these drives I was only driving for 20-25 minutes at a time. On the 8th the system went off 26 times, on the 9th it went off 18 times and on the 12th it went off 27 times. That is excessive and very dangerous as if I turn the system off in the car it will disable the safety features on the car because it can’t detect my eyes at that time even though I am staring at the car in front of me. It does it in any type of weather, any time of day, and if I’m wearing my prescription glasses, sunglasses or anything. I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t duplicate the issue so they weren’t able to fix it as per Hyundai they have to duplicate the issue for them to fix it.

NHTSA #11710787

Hyundai - DAW - Driver Attention Warning / Forward Attention Warning System This issue warrants immediate consideration for a recall. Despite wearing glasses, sunglasses, or no glasses, the problem persists. I occasionally remove my glasses while driving, and the warning continues to sound. This occurs regardless of the time of day, weather conditions, or whether I am sitting upright or reclining. The warning randomly activates and deactivates, sometimes without any intervention. Occasionally, I simply allow the warning to sound without taking any action, and it remains active for a few seconds or until it triggers a warning that the system will be turned off, at which point it deactivates. I have attempted various troubleshooting methods, such as keeping my eyes open, adjusting my seating position, wearing and removing my glasses, and tilting them to minimize glare. None of these methods have proven effective in preventing the warning from activating or in making it deactivate. This is a persistent problem. Hyundai dealerships initially informed me that the warning might be an annoyance and their response was to simply refrain from using it. However, if a basic feature like cruise control in a 2024 & 2025 model is rendered unusable due to a design flaw (which this certainly is), it constitutes a clear violation of safety standards and should be addressed through a recall. The incessant alerts are highly disruptive and can be quite frustrating. For instance, driving with an arm in the 12 o’clock position triggers a warning, while wearing polarized sunglasses also results in an alert. The presence of a setting to disable the warning is a welcome feature, but the system’s persistent alerts can be overwhelming. The alerts continue even after taking a break. It is distracting and a safety hazard. Drivers should be able to adjust the sensitivity of the feature to turn off this feature. Currently, there is no way to disable or temporarily disable this feature.

NHTSA #11668224

I’m writing to report a recurring issue with the Forward Attention Warning (FAW) system in my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The system frequently triggers warnings even when I am fully attentive and driving safely. These alerts are not only distracting, but they also reduce my confidence in the vehicle’s safety systems overall. I have reviewed the settings and attempted to adjust or disable the FAW feature, but it either cannot be turned off entirely or continues to act erratically despite adjustments. I’ve also verified that the cabin camera is clean and unobstructed.

NHTSA #11655647

The driver assist warning/dinging coffee cup is a distraction while driving. It can ding up to every 4 minutes. This is a feature that should be able to be turned off.

NHTSA #11639078

The drive attention warning system turned off the cruise control. Causing the vehicle to unexpectedly decrease speed on the interstate, which forced the cars behind me to brake hard to avoid hitting me. This system is constantly giving alerts for no reason distracting my attention to the road. I can have both hands on the wheel and looking straight forward and the system gives an alert tone and flashes a message on the screen stating it can see my face. If the cruise control is on it will disengage the cruise. If the cruise is not engaged it just keeps alert every 20 miles or so. I have taken it to the dealer, who showed me how to turn it off , but it still alerts over and over again.

Traveling back from Aurora Co to Iowa the Heating stopped working in three hours of our trip. A code came up and the Heating shut down. Which allowed the windshield to be frozen over while I was driving. Rain freezing to the windshield. Had to stop frequently because of code P007100. Hyundai relies on an ambient temperature sensor for heating within the vehicle. It froze over while Hyundai relies on an ambient temperature sensor for heating within the vehicle. It froze over while I was driving was driving. Other cars were driving just fine because they didn’t have heat within their car. So Hyundai needs to have a special recall on this for a safety concern and cold weather.

I had my vehicle serviced at Hyundai of Kirkland, located at 11800 124th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98034, on December 19th, 2024. During the service, the dealership did not inform me of any active recalls on my vehicle, nor did they address any recall-related issues. I believe it is their responsibility to notify customers of recalls and ensure proper servicing as required.

NHTSA #11632551

The vehicle has gone into limp mode multiple times with no check engine indication displayed, causing significant safety issues in that the sudden loss of power occurred while traveling on the interstate highway. Each time, by loosing power and trying to get to the side of the road to safety was terrifying and very unsafe to us and the cars/trucks around us. The issue began on 11/5/24 and continues up through 11/12/26. Videos of vehicle performance are available upon request since they are unable to be uploaded via this form. The vehicle has been towed to three different Hyundai service departments. No diagnostic codes show up, nor have they been able to duplicate the issue. We have provided videos of the display screen and the performance of the vehicle while in limp mode. We have been told by Hyundai Service that unless a code shows up in the diagnostics, there is nothing they can do for us. At this point, since most of our driving is on the interstate, we are afraid to drive the vehicle for fear of a serious accident occurring when it loses power.

If am wearing my sunglasses or I am holding the steering wheel in a certain way my car will assume I am not looking at the road and turn off my cruise control. If I do not take my sunglasses off right away or move my arm my car starts breaking and alerts me to take control of me vehicle. My driver Attention setting is off. I have almost been rear ended twice because of this. Hyundai has acknowledged that is this a serious design flaw and a safety concern but has no solution

On July 3, 2024 the vehicle was parked on my driveway. My driveway is very steep, the sun was out and it was windy. I opened the car and got in, the wind caught the door and it slammed shut. The back window shattered and many small glass particles were on ground behind the car and on the backs of the second and third row seats that were down. If someone had been sitting in the third row seat they would have been cover in glass. The dealer said that this could not have happened as described, but it did, and that I should repair the window my self. The glass is only 1/8 inch thick and I asked the glass company if they could get a thicker pane, none is available. I believe the manufacturer should recall and replace the back window with a stronger pane. Pictures and repair invoice to be mailed.

The glass on the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe seems to be incredibly unsafe. 2 weeks after purchasing the vehicle, while driving on [XXX], something kicked up into the windshield and cracked it. The crack was about 12 inches long. Overnight, the crack doubled in length. The replacement glass that was ordered to Safelite was broken upon delivery. While waiting for a new windshield, something else hit the windshield on the interstate and there was another chip. 2 weeks after my windshield was finally replaced, I found that the passenger front window was cracked in the top corner and had no idea why. Within 2 days, the window was cracked all the way from the top to the bottom. This weekend, something hit the windshield on the interstate again, and the windshield is once again cracked/chipped. I have owned 11 cars in 16 years and none of them have ever had windshield damage, despite spending my entire driving life in the same area. Now, a new car that I purchased for the purpose of avoiding maintenance costs has had 3 cracked/broken windows in 12 months, and I've spent $1000 on glass and will now have to spend another $100-$500 more to fix this one. Hyundai warranty does not cover it. Glass coverage is not an option for insurance in North Carolina. I believe that the glass on newer Hyundai vehicles is very cheap, defective, and unsafe. I bought the 2024 Santa Fe XRT Pro new off the lot Sept. 2024. Brought it in for 3 different recalls but the electronic system panel is new: The panel lit up with every warning sign it can convey: from the engine light to the coffee break, to the emergency warnings. This has happened twice; once a few weeks ago and again a few days ago. My car is back at the dealership for repair to the electronic panel. The first time, the dealership replaced the entire panel as it is still under warranty. It's at the shop again and I don't know what they will do this time. I would trade it in, but the trade-in value sucks.

I purchased the Vehicle from Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie, Inc. (Bowie, Maryland) on [XXX] (the “Date of Purchase”). Within a few months of the Date of Purchase, I began having issues with the digital dashboard and heads up display. Both the digital dashboard and heads up display would go completely dark, leaving me an inability to view essential operational and safety information, including but not limited to, the speedometer, rear view camera, blind spot cameras, driving mode, driving gear, navigation, warning messages, lane following assist, tire pressure monitoring system, driver attention warnings, etc. (the “Hazardous Condition”). After multiple calls and emails with the service manager at Len Stoler Hyundai (Owings Mills, Maryland), I took my car to their dealership on November 5, 2024, December 30, 2024, and May 28, 2025, to have Hazardous Condition corrected. Although Len Stoler Hyundai was able to slightly improve the Hazardous Condition such that it was more intermittent – going dark for minutes or hours at a time instead of days at a time - the problem was never satisfactorily resolved. Recently, the Hazardous Condition became less intermittent, and all screens went permanently dark. Since Len Stoler Hyundai closed their doors, I reached out to Heritage Hyundai Owings Mills to address the Hazardous Condition. After a detailed call with a service advisor, I dropped off the Vehicle to them on August 15, 2025, and as of the date of this letter, thirteen (13) days have passed without them resolving the Hazardous Condition, or even returning my repeated telephone calls. To date, Heritage Hyundai Owings Mills remains in possession of the Vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I tried to open the doors of my locked vehicle with the key fob and there was no response. I tried several times and nothing happened. I called AAA and they opened the door with my valet key and was able to pop the trunk. He checked the battery and it was working fine. He then noticed that the wire connecting the battery to the fuse box has melted at the point of contract with the fuse box and actually melted part of the plastic fuse box. There was nothing he could do, so I had to have the car towed to the dealer. I was lucky that the total meltdown of the electrical system did not occur when I was driving or I would not have been able to see any of the controls on the inside of the auto and not be able to use the gear shift to put the car in park.

The vehicle has a digital instrument panel. Today the instrumental panel started flickering, sometimes all warning lights will flash, and then the panel will go completely black/blank while driving. Sometimes a red "NO SIGNAL" warning will flash across the screen. When this happens, there's no speedometer, engine temperature, or any information about the vehicle. This vehicle is 1-month old and has about 1300 miles.

NHTSA #11618365

The digital screens that contain the gauge cluster and infotainment array intermittently flicker, black out, or go to static. Sometimes it's one side or the other and sometimes it is both. When the gauge cluster screen is affected, the heads-up display on the windshield also turns off. All of this can happen while the vehicle is idle or while driving. Sometimes the displays flicker and sometimes they just black out or go to static for the entirety of the drive. It is available for inspection. The biggest safety concerns are the complete lack of a speedometer or warning lights when this problem occurs. The problem did not have to be reproduced by the dealer because the screens and the HUD were completely blacked out when the vehicle was taken in for service. The problem was supposedly "repaired" with an "update". The problem has since resurfaced. The vehicle was inspected by service center personnel at a Hyundai dealership. When asked, a representative of that dealership stated that the problem is common amongst all Hyundai models featuring digital displays. There was no warning of the problem. One day the problem did not exist and the next it did.

The digital gage cluster went black on my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy (AWD) while I was driving on September 5, 2024. There were no prior warnings or indicators to alert me that anything was going to fail/not operate properly. I was entering a school zone and could not determine what speed I was traveling at to ensure that I was not moving too fast and endangering children, as well as walking parents; I pulled over and activated my Heads-Up-Display (HUD) to see if I could utilize it to safely continue my journey. I was able to use the HUD to know my speed. I initially had the HUD turned off because my daughter, who is a new driver, said that it was distracting to her. This occurred first yesterday. I thought that it may have been due to my system conducting a software update, but the issue appears to be intermittent. It sometimes comes back on, but it only remains on for no more than 10-15 minutes before going black again. Since it is a new vehicle and under warranty, I scheduled an appointment with the local Hyundai dealership the same night the issue first occurred to have the problem evaluated. When I arrived the next morning I was told that it would take about two (2) weeks for it to be diagnosed!?! I then went to a friend, who is a certified mechanic specializing in electronics, to take a quick assessment. She didn't discover anything during her observation, but decided to check online to see if there were any reports of this issue occurring prior to my incident. She found a technical report stating that the issue is known and probably caused by a wiring diameter issue that causes the digital gage cluster to intermittently go out and come back on. I believe that this could be a serious condition in certain situations. Besides not knowing your speed, you don't know if a turn signal is activated, how much fuel you have left, engine temps, oil pressure, tire pressures (TPMS), etc.

When driving the cluster panel with speedometer etc goes black for a bit and then comes back on. Also, all the warning lights will come on sporadically at the same time and stay on for a few seconds then go away, or just stay on until car is turned off. Heads up display also goes away and sometimes can't even locate in their settings area. After about 10 min of my phone being on wireless charger it gives me a warning message that my phone is getting hot and to remove the phone. The failure occurred in the sidewalls of the two factory‑supplied all‑season tires on the passenger‑side (front and rear) of my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. Both tires exhibit pronounced bulges on the outer sidewall of the front passenger tire. Tire size is 255/45 R20 105V M+S The rear OEM tire was replaced on February 10, 2025 and front OEM tire (with DOT codes visible) remain mounted on the vehicle, but I must replace it to keep the vehicle operational. I noticed the bulging of the second tire today, July 29, 2025. Sidewall bulges indicate internal cord separation. A sudden loss of air pressure or blowout—especially at highway speeds—could result in rapid vehicle instability, loss of control, and a potentially serious crash, endangering occupants and other road users. No, the problem has yet to be inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others. However there is mounting conserns and simular reports of the same problem occurring with other owners of 2024 Hyundai SantaFes with the same OEM tire. No warning lamps, messages or other symptons prior to the problem occuring. There has been no off‑road use, curb impacts, overloading, or manufacturing advisories at the time of discovery. My best assessment is a potential manufacturing or design defect in the OEM tire sidewall construction causing premature internal separation under normal use.

Forward Collision Avoidance6 quejas

Have a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy Hybrid with a Drivers Attention Warning problem. The warning turns on frequently when using cruise control. When the warning beeps a few times in quick succession it actually shuts down the system, reduces speed to a crawl, and turns off the engine. This only happens while using cruise control, no issue with DAW when cruise control is off. So can't use cruise control on the highway/interstate. Dealer is no help. This is obviously a safety issue when the engine turns off while driving on an interstate. Thanks

NHTSA #11669192

The Adaptive Cruise control cannot be used while wearing certain sunglasses. The car has a Driver Awareness Warning that is supposed to warn the driver if eyes are not on the road. It does not work with certain glasses. While driving at interstate speeds, I engaged the Adaptive Cruise control only to have it shut off and quickly slow down. After fumbling with different glasses while driving, I found a pair that will work with the Adaptive Cruise control. In the display, there is a toggle to turn off the Driver Awareness option, but as soon as you turn on the Adaptive Cruise, the Driver Awareness turns on again. If the Driver Awareness function cannot be turned off it is a safety issue. My favorite driving glasses cannot be used and I think this issue will cause accidents with the quick slowing on the highway. There should be a way to turn off the Driver awareness so I can use the adaptive cruise with my sunglasses.

NHTSA #11664854

On a bright sunny day, the Hyundai Forward Attention Warning (FAW) SHUT OFF my adaptive cruise control while doing 70 mph, indicating that I was not focused on the road. I was looking straight ahead at the road the whole time. I later determined that the system was reacting to glare on my glasses (not sunglasses, no tint whatsoever, just glass). This led to a very dangerous condition because I was fighting with the car to determine what had happened (at 70 miles per hour), not focused on the road as I just had been prior. The system is checked as OFF in setup (as described in the manual) but clearly that was not the case. The driver CAN NOT shut the system like the manual says. I actually love the car, EXCEPT for that "feature". This subsystem should never have been permitted into a production vehicle and, had I known, I would never have purchased. It's that big of a problem. The system appears to be very dependent upon ambient light because I never have this issue when it's cloudy, raining, or at dawn or dusk. I have complained at 2 Hyundai dealerships here in the Chicago area, to a total of 4 Hyundai personnel, even sent a video my daughter recorded of me driving and exhibiting the issue. In 3 of the 4 cases, they replied the "system was performing as designed". That appears to be their mantra. The one service person replied that they had never heard that before. I guess they don't ever check Reddit or write down my many complaints. I think it's clear Hyundai, as a service organization does not intend to do anything about this and, perhaps worse, the company at large has no intention of doing anything as this same subsystem is part of an extensive line of their 2025 models as well.

This vehicle has a Driver Attention Alert System which track driver's eye and head movement to determine driver attention levels. This system can be disabled outside of using Cruise Control through the setup menu. However, when in Cruise Control, this system CANNOT be disabled. Unfortunately, if you're wearing sun glasses the system declares the driver is inattentive and produces a distracting aural and visual warning. If no action is taken the vehicle will automatically come to a stop, even on the freeway! This option is a driver distraction and does not allow the driver to wear sunglasses increasing the risk of motor vehicle accidents. Several customer have complained to Hyundai about this system. there needs to be driver-selectable option to enable/disable, even in Cruise Control mode.

Visibility/Wiper5 quejas

I have had the driver’s side wiper blade stop working properly twice since purchase. The first instance involved ice within the vicinity of the wiper arm mount on the driver’s side. There was compacted snow and ice next to the arm motor mount location. When the wiper was activated, the wiper could not extend fully vertical due to the snow and ice in the corner and this caused the wiper arm to become loose. The driver’s wiper arm then failed to properly operate and frequently overlapped the passenger wiper arm/blade which still functioned. The arm was replaced under warranty at a dealership. The second time this happened, I was driving during a snowstorm and the wiper was turned on with minimal snow and ice accumulation from roughly one hour of driving and occasional wiper use. The snow buildup between the driver’s wiper blade and the A pillar prevented the blade from completing a full sweep of the windshield and the driver’s side wiper came loose and failed to function properly. It frequently became entangled with the passenger wiper blade, causing visibility issues while driving. I have an appointment for this. The wiper arm itself has splines that match up with the wiper motors located between the hood and windshield. If an obstruction of snow or ice either holds the wiper blade down or prevents a full range of motion, the wiper motor easily strips these splines from the wiper arm, resulting in wiper arm failure, damage/bending of the arm(s) and cosmetic damage to the plastic A pillar trim (from wiper over extending past A pillar. The design of the vehicle wiper recess location prevents lifting the wiper arms if there is any snow or ice accumulation on the vehicle and the wipers are in the normal down position. Combine this with the lack of any melting capability from the windshield defroster or a dedicated wiper defroster, there is no way to ensure the wipers will function properly when needed during a snow or rain storm and freezing conditions.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a sudden and unexplained crack that appeared on the windshield of my vehicle, which was parked in my driveway overnight. The vehicle was stationary, had not been involved in any accidents or incidents, and was not subjected to any apparent external impact Upon discovering the damage, I conducted thorough research and found that more than one owner of the same vehicle or same type of model have experienced an identical issue — a crack that originates at the very top edge of the windshield starting from the top and travels downward through the middle of the glass. The consistency in the location and pattern of the damage strongly suggests a potential manufacturing defect or a design flaw. This issue raises serious concerns not only about product quality but also about driver safety. Windshield integrity is a crucial component of vehicle safety systems, and such defects can compromise visibility and the structural strength of the car in the event of a collision.

Power Train,Engine5 quejas

When accelerating from a stop, the transmission fails to engage causing the engine to rev but not allow for movement until the gas pedal is disengaged then engaged again. This happens sporadically and I have not been able to find a pattern or reason for this issue. I have reported this to Hyundai and taken the vehicle in but the dealership was unable to reproduce the issue after driving the vehicle for 20 miles. This is a safety issue as the vehicle does not always accelerate as expected from a stop and could potentially cause an accident.

NHTSA #11696822

When making a right turn from a complete stop, the vehicle intermittently exhibits noticeable hesitation and reduced acceleration compared to normal straight-line launches. This has occurred approximately 5–6 times. The delay in power delivery creates an unsafe condition when merging from on-ramps into higher-speed traffic, as the vehicle does not accelerate as expected. This mismatch between expected and actual acceleration can lead to misjudgment of traffic gaps. No warning lights or diagnostic messages have appeared. The issue appears intermittently and specifically during right-turn launches from a stop.

While the car was in park, we used the auto start feature to get the A/C going as we walked to the car. We heard a loud popping sound then shut the car off. My husband looked under the hood to look around for what could have made the noise and asked me to start the car. When I did, the car started moving forward on it's own with my husband standing in front of it and our 3 kids in the car to witness, which was scary but fortunately nobody was hurt and we were parking and not in traffic. I was able to use the brakes to get it to stop moving. We drove it about a mile and when attempting to put it in park, it prompted me to use the parking break because the Park function wasn't available. When I attempted to put it in drive, it flashed through all of the gears before saying, "Shift gear malfunction" then "Service Immediately." I used the parking break and was able to turn the car off after a few attempts of it going into accessory mode. This was 30 days after purchasing the car brand new with 10 miles on it leaving the lot. We found the safety recall posted online on July 8th, but were not informed by the dealership. The dealership didn't have a loaner to provide, so we had to pay out of pocket for a rental car for 7 weeks before they finally provided a loaner for the final week before it was repaired 60 days later. We were told there was no ETA on when the parts would be received, but we had to call the Service Advisor or go in person because they were not responsive by phone or email. The transmission, software and battery were replaced. We are pursuing a buyback. No consumer of a new vehicle should be expected to pay their car payment for a new vehicle while also renting a car. Our reimbursement from Hyundai's Corporate office is still pending. The official safety recall notices came within the last week of the repairs being completed.

In TWO separate occasions, the middle row seatbelts have unbuckled on THEIR OWN. We have also had issues with the buckles NOT buckling OR unbuckling when prompted. (Like it’s stuck in the buckle to unbuckle or won’t click in) Other issue is the car will randomly tell me my child is unbuckled but they are NOT. Today, the sensor went on and off multiple times telling me buckled, unbuckled, over and over meanwhile my child was buckled. Why is it telling me she’s not buckled if she is….??? And why has the belts unbuckled on their own? (The first time it was my toddler in his car seat who CANNOT reach the buckle)

Both driver and front passenger seat belts are nearly impossible to snap it and it is just as hard to get them to release. Sometimes you think it is snapped together and it comes out going down the road. I have taken it to the dealer and they said the parts are on back order and have been for a long time. This is a serious safety issue. It looks to me like they would be on top of something like this. If there is an accident I don't trust the seat belts to protect me and my family. It has not been listed as a recall yet so I do not understand why they would be on back order for so long.

The contact's vehicle was identified as the fourth vehicle in the crash sequence. The entire rear bumper area sustained significant damage. The first vehicle that originated the crash was distracted by his phone, which caused him to crash into the rear of the second vehicle, causing the second vehicle to crash into the rear of the third, resulting in the contact being rear-ended. No property damage. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was rendered inoperable, towed to a repair facility, and subsequently declared a total loss by the insurance adjuster. The driver sustained multiple injuries, including a ruptured right breast implant, two lower back herniations, and a neck herniation. A minor child occupant seated on the front passenger's side also sustained a neck herniation. The driver and minor child occupant received medical treatment following the incident. The contact also had her service dog in the rear, and due to the severity of the impact, there was difficulty removing the service dog safely from the vehicle. While driving my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe on the interstate, the “Keep your eyes on the road” alert repeatedly activated even though the driver was attentive and looking forward. After multiple warnings, the system escalated to a message that the vehicle was about to be disabled, which created a serious safety concern. This happened even though the Driver Attention Warning feature is disabled in the vehicle’s settings. The constant alerts are distracting, and the threat of the vehicle disabling features while driving at highway speeds is dangerous.

After car is idle, when pressing the gas, the car instantly stops as if you have slammed on the break, feeling like you have driven into a brick wall. The intensity of the stop causes you to jerk aggressively in your seat. This has happened on more than one occasion. While driving my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, the vehicle experienced a complete dashboard and system blackout, as if the vehicle shut off and rebooted. This has occurred on two separate occasions. On one occasion, while stopped at a traffic light, the dashboard went completely black and restarted. After the system rebooted, the vehicle would not accelerate or move when the accelerator was pressed. I had to turn the vehicle off, restart it, and wait before it would drive again. The suspected malfunction involves the vehicle’s electrical/infotainment and related vehicle control systems. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle lost critical dashboard information and temporarily lost the ability to accelerate while in traffic, creating the risk of being struck by other vehicles. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership (World Hyundai of Matteson). On December 23, 2025, I was informed by the dealer that a system/infotainment “glitch” had been identified and that a replacement part would be ordered. However, the part was never replaced. The dealer later stated that because the issue could not be duplicated during test drives (approximately 85 miles driven), the repair was not authorized. The dealer acknowledged the issue could not be reproduced on demand. The manufacturer (Hyundai) has not yet physically inspected the vehicle beyond dealership involvement. No police or insurance inspections occurred, as there was no crash. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. The failure occurred suddenly with a complete dashboard blackout and system restart. The first occurrence happened prior to December 23, 2025; the second occurred afterward. The issue is intermittent and unresolved. I am concerned that the defect must reoccur while driving in order to be repaired, posing an ongoing safety risk.

My vehicle was in for repairs at both a collision shop and a dealership following a minor accident. When I got the vehicle back, I found that the seat controls were not working, preventing me from moving the seat backward or forward. During a test drive, the car lost power despite the gas pedal being fully pressed; it wouldn't accelerate and then suddenly jerked forward. This could have caused an accident if I had been on a busy highway. Further testing revealed an abnormal noise at 1500 RPM in multiple gears. The vehicle has been towed back to the dealership, but there's no word yet on when it will be fixed. Hyundai has been contacted multiple times, as the car has been awaiting parts and undergoing repairs for over four months. They don't seem to be taking these safety issues seriously nor helpful in resolving the issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that the vehicle's liftgate would independently open while idle without warning. The contact stated that while washing her vehicle on an inclined driveway, the liftgate opened without warning. In an effort to avoid being hit by the liftgate, the contact fell to her left side on a concrete driveway. The contact suffered pain and bruises to the left side of her body, with major pain in her left foot. The contact was home alone and managed to drag her body onto a chair before calling her husband for assistance. The contact's husband drove the contact to an urgent care facility, where an X-ray was performed; the X-ray showed no fractures. The facility stated that their equipment was not sufficient to treat her injuries, and they placed a boot on her left leg and referred her to an orthopedic doctor. The contact went to the orthopedic doctor, who performed another X-ray, which showed no fractures. The contact was given another boot; however, the pain remained days after the visit. The contact then went to her pre-scheduled primary care doctor's appointment, where her doctor saw her condition and referred her to another orthopedic doctor. While at her second orthopedic appointment, another X-ray was performed, which also did not show a fracture; however, the orthopedic doctor suggested an MRI scan. The MRI scan showed that the contact had suffered a left heel fracture. The contact also went to another facility for a CAT-scan, which showed that her heel was misaligned and that surgery would be needed to correct the left heel fracture. The contact had surgery for the heel fracture and had the foot wrapped and splinted; the contact was given several medications post surgery. The contact had been scheduled for a follow-up appointment to monitor the heel's progress. In addition, the contact sustained injuries to her left wrist, left buttocks, and left lower calf. Since the injury, the contact has had to use a knee scooter, a walker, and a wheelchair for assistance with her mobility. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

The trunk will occasionally not open. The car and trunk are unlocked, and when you pull the handle to open the trunk the car beeps like it's trying to open it, but it will fail to open and will then give some failure beeps. This has happened to me several times, and I've read online this issue has happen to others too. This is a safety hazard and makes the trunk unusable when it happens. I have a video of the trunk not opening, but it doesn't look like I'm able to upload videos files to this submission.

When the power button on the seat is pressed to move the seat forward or fold it down, the second row captains chairs fail to stop from folding if someone or something is in the seat.

NHTSA #11726394

A child was exiting the vehicle from the second row driver-side seat, and the seat fold-up button (on the shoulder of the seat) was accidentally tapped. The seat began to tilt forward to collapse, squeezing a toddler in a rear facing child seat between the seat and the back of the front driver seat. Thankfully, the child seat bore the brunt of the pressure, but the incident clearly demonstrated an absence of sensors or logic to disallow the button to function when a child seat (using latch) is installed. We then tested the passenger seat in the second row and found that, even if a seat occupant is present, if the seatbelt is not buckled, the button WILL continue to operate and crush the passenger. That is to say the collapse function of the seat is uninhibited by the weight or resistance of a seated passenger. This is especially alarming given our elementary age children enter and exit the car on their own with little assistance requested from us.

My daughter was sitting down on the middle row and the button to fold the chair down was accidentally pressed. When she screamed bc she was getting smushed I jumped out of the vehicle and pushed the button to stop the chair from folding. NHTSA #11695344

2024 Models appear to not allow disabling the "Consider taking a break" alert even when disabling the "Driver attention warning" feature. This alert appears to go off on imperfect roads at seemingly random intervals when the car "thinks" you are driving improperly. The alert is abrupt, jarring, and unsafe in my option. I have no idea why they would release a model where you can't disable it when in previous models you easily could. It appears this is a common problem from my research online and I don't think Hyundia has made any steps to fix this.

When placed in "Park" the vehicle's brakes did not engage, which allowed the vehicle to roll backwards when I exited the vehicle. I was able to reproduce the problem again and I recorded a video showing the problem. When pressing "Park" on the electronic shifter, the dashboard displays that the video is in "Park". However, the brakes are not engaged as evidenced by the vehicle rolling backwards when I take my foot off the brake. After reproducing the issue a couple times (~ 10 minutes later) and documenting the issue with a video, the check engine light eventually came on and the dashboard displayed: "PARK malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle." Which quickly changed to the warning message: "Shifter system malfunction! Service immediately" The vehicle would no longer let me place it in "park" and it remained on in "accessory mode" and I was unable to turn off "accessory mode" since the vehicle could not be placed in park. However, neither of these error messages appeared the 3-4 times I was able to place the vehicle in "park" and then observe it roll back. The vehicle has been towed to Northwest Hyundai for inspection/repair. >> How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car rolling uncontrolled is a huge safety hazard to anyone that happens to be in the path of the car. It is also a huge safety hazard to any occupants that might remain in the vehicle when the driver exits after placing it in park. >> Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. The service error that appeared prevented the car from being placed in "park". However, I was able to capture a video of the problem. >> Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there were no error messages of any kind.

We just brought this vehicle in for the ongoing transmission problem (previously reported to your agency after the car self-accelerated), as well as the missed seatbelt recall that was not addressed at the last dealership. I advised the service advisor that the seatbelt recall needed to be fixed. The service advisor contacted us several hours later to tell us that they were replacing the transmission. 10 days later we picked up the vehicle after the transmission replacement, and the service advisor told us they did not do the seatbelt repair, citing lack of parts and/or special order. I asked if this was a safety issue and if I should leave the vehicle with them for longer, but was told not to worry about it, and to bring the vehicle back at another time. Fast forward to today, and the vehicle is rolling forward when we start it. This is worse than the way it rolled forward before the transmission replacement. Coupled with the disregard for the seatbelt recall, I believe there is a serious safety issue with this vehicle. I have notified Hyundai Corporate, as well as our attorney, and will be contacting the dealership to drop the vehicle off. I have a video recording of the car rolling forward during startup, but it appears I cannot upload it here. I have forward that video to the above mentioned entities, and am happy to share it with your agency as well.

We have had several transmission issues with this vehicle for over a year. On March 5th we dropped the car off for an oil leak, a malfunctioning middle row seat belt, and an on going transmission clunk and roll. The dealer repaired the oil leak, replaced the seat belt, (damaged the interior of the vehicle while doing so, then denied it) and said they were unable to replicate the transmission problem. The car went back to the dealer again on March 26 for the transmission clunk and roll. They kept it for 8 weeks, and said they couldn’t replicate the issue. I have confirmation that they didn’t even start the vehicle for 4 weeks. We picked up the Vehicle on May 22, and the issue persists. Yesterday, when pulling out of a gas station, the vehicle accelerated on its own until I intervened stepping on the brake pedal. When I typed in the issue to Google, I was made aware that the vehicle now has a front seat belt safety recall from April 6, which the dealer didn’t even advise us on or offer to repair. I am finding out about this on an interstate family drive and we are of course terrified of driving our vehicle now, based on the unintended accessories and now faulty front seat seat belts. I have asked Hyundai serval times for a buy back which they have refused. Corporate has asked us to bring the car back to the dealer this week, and we are about to sign papers with a lemon law lawyer tomorrow. I wanted to at least file this complaint so that it is in writing should something happen to us in our travels this week. This has all been so unacceptable with Hyundai. We bought this car new and it is paid off.

Hyundai - DAW - Driver Attention Warning / Forward Attention Warning System This issue warrants immediate consideration for a recall. Despite wearing glasses, sunglasses, or no glasses, the problem persists. I occasional do remove my glasses while driving, and the warning continues to sound. Currently, there is no way to disable or temporarily disable this feature.

when using lane following the system repeatedly warns you to pay attention, usually when in heavy traffic and after repeated warning shuts of the cruise and lane following system. when using the cruise control system the system will suggest you take a break. both problems appear to be associated with an in cabin camera. i have driven my vehicle almost 25,000 miles and taken two cross country trips. the warning system has almost never warned me of a real problem. 99 percent of the time it is a false reading by the camera and occurs under challenging driving conditions when the last thing you need it to be told to pay attention when you truly are. during this winter i have driven more at night and the vehicle is basically un drivable because of false notifications. this has repeatedly happened in the 14 months i have owned the vehicle - the date below is just for when it happened today. i am more than willing to share details and would welcome a call

One of the original OEM tires (Pirelli Scorpion MS KS NCS XL - 245/45R21) had the acoustic dampening foam on the inside of the tire fall apart. Dealership indicated that there was 'no impact damage or modifications found with the tire during inspection; meaning this was likely a manufacturing defect due to adhesion issue. Despite the problem and the fact that this tire has less than 12K miles on it at the time of the incident, the local Hyundai dealership, Hyundai corporate and Pirelli all refused to cover the cost to replace the tire. Hyundai dealer said to file a complaint with Hyundai corporate, Hyundai Corporate said that this was a Pirelli tire warranty issue (no paperwork provided about Pirelli tire warranty at time of purchase) and Pirelli indicated that only the local dealer or an authorized dealer of their tires can submit warranty claims, and that it is contingent upon a Pirelli inspection and prorated based on the remaining tread of the tire. This leaves the consumer in a difficult position having to bear the burden of the tire replacement cost upfront, and little chances of recourse as these 3 parties skirt responsibility of the OEM tire. When the acoustic foam fails, the car shakes violently at high speeds, for us this stats at ~50mph. There is no warning light that appears for this, dealer originally thought this was related to ice build up which did not rectify the problem causing us to have to go to the dealer twice for diagnostics. Online forums seem to point that this acoustic foam adhesion issue is especially common in colder climates. Symptoms of problem first appeared in early January, with full diagnosis confirmed early Feb.

When I first start my car for the day, I get an error message, which says transmission error get transmission checked immediately. I’m unable to put my car into gear and when I try to go forward the transmission acts as if insufficient transmission fluid and does not accelerate properly and go into gear. I went to a Hyundai dealer in October 2024!to get the car serviced. The Hyundai dealer flushed the transmission system For a while I no longer got the transmission error message on the dash. A few weeks later I had the transmission error again and the car would not go into gear. I took the car in for a second time to be serviced by Hyundai dealer They said that they reset the software. About a week later I got the transmission error message again, along with the difficulty of engage in the transmission. The workaround I had for this was to turn the car off and turn it back on again and that would get rid of the transmission error message until the next day. I plan to take my car in to a Hyundai dealer this week and report to them that I’ve been having this transmission error message almost daily for the last week. My 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe (VIN: [XXX] ) was manufactured on March 14, 2024, in [XXX] . The vehicle is currently experiencing dual-clutch transmission (8DCT) juddering, shuddering, and extreme hesitation when trying to accelerate from a complete stop at traffic lights and intersections. This creates a severe lag in acceleration, leaving the vehicle dangerously exposed to oncoming traffic. This component failure directly mirrors the mechanical hazards outlined in NHTSA Safety Recall 263. Because my manufacturing date falls just outside the official recall window, this vehicle has not received a formal recall remedy, yet it actively exhibits the identical, dangerous powertrain defects, suggesting the recall's production scope may be too narrow. Furthermore, in November 2024, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic safety failure where it completely lost all propulsion power for approximately 30 seconds while moving through the middle of a live intersection. Most recently, on XXX, right after being released from an extended 38-day service stay at an authorized dealership, the electronic infotainment displayed an active warning screen stating the car should be shifted to park while the vehicle shifter was physically and securely locked in Park. Time-stamped video evidence of this active transmission/braking sensor failure has been captured and preserved. The vehicle remains an active, uncorrected threat to my physical safety on the road. This is related to the recent issue with a '26 Palisade Calligraphy and the stop sale due to the 2nd row seat killing a [XXX] . I just went out and tried this on my ’24 Santa Fe Calligraphy with the 2nd row captains chairs and the electric button on the top of the seat. First off, if the seatbelt is secured, the button is disabled. Our rear facing car seat is a Britax click tight which uses the seatbelt to secure it. If the seatbelt is not secured, the button works. I sat in the seat (adult male), reached back and pushed button, and the seat started to compress me while sitting in it. Once I started to resist, the seat stopped, but it did not back off. I had to use more pressure than expected. I had to reach back and push the button again to get out. I did the same test again this time using my arm and I had to put moderate pressure to get the seat to stop. More pressure than I expected was required. I don’t know many details on the tragic death of the [XXX] old but I believe they were in a rear facing car seat that was not using the seat belt and instead using the latch connectors to secure it to the seat. This means the button in the Palisade was operable (assuming it’s like the Santa Fe) and I can totally see the seat back coming down onto the rear facing toddler. Whatever fix Hyundai does for the Palisade needs to be done on the Santa Fe as well as it is dangerous for small kids with how it works currently. -I had just exited from the highway and was driving into my town. While doing so, I had both hands on the steering wheel and suddenly the car started beeping and flashing warnings/ alerts indicating that my hands were not on the steering wheel, which they were. Within seconds the car began to deaccelerate and pull me off the road to my right hand side. I initially had no control over the vehicle. Then again- without explanation it began to register hands on the steering wheel and I was able to resume control of the vehicle. I believe the lane assist feature was on at the time. It all happened very quickly. Had I still been on the highway as I was moments before, there was enough traffic that I would have been pulled into another vehicle or caused an accident if people saw me suddenly rapidly deaccelerating/braking in front of them because they would have no warning and a very tiny amount of time to react. Then, in an other instance that followed shortly thereafter, my boyfriend was driving with one of the lane assist on. While driving, the weather changed and it began snowing and freezing rain that was freezing when it hit the windshield. The lane assist began to have trouble seeing the lines on the road since the snow and ice were obscuring them somewhat. It began to beep and gently correct the car- which was not appropriate in this case (we understand that the road conditions were beyond its abilities to safely discern things accurately). My boyfriend who had two hands on the wheel trying to carefully navigate this sudden burst of weather so at not to slide. He tried turning it off, but it wasn't turning off, and couldn't troubleshoot it without taking his hands off the wheel. He instructed me to turn it off through the settings menu in the infotainment system, which seemed to disable it. Prior to these dangerous problems, I had experienced some seemingly sensor- related malfunctions with the tire pressure monitoring system. I'm out of room to write more.

Something is wrong with the front windshield. Since I bought this SUV the last year, I've noticed that the wipers are very noisy and the windshield gets dirty very frequently. The last week, the windshield cracked for no apparent reason. I called the dealer and their response was that it's not covered by the warranty and I have to claim it from my car insurance. They also have no explanation for the wiper problem and the stains that appear on the windshield.

Original letter to Hyundai below. The car is currently at a dealer again for repair of the same issue. Fuel pump replaced in Nov 2025 but issue has returned in March 2026. Videos of the issue recently occurring are available. Good morning, We had our 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid lose power while merging onto the freeway in November 2025. I was pressing the accelerator and it did not do anything, just kept rapidly decelerating. Pulled the car to the shoulder and turned it off completely and back on, and the car started up with the engine running which was unusual- typically the car starts up in silent electric mode. It would not accelerate past a few miles per hour. This has now happened on multiple occasions, disappearing for a few days only to return. It has gotten very dangerous to lose speed and acceleration into a busy freeway and almost caused an accident yesterday. We were thankfully close to a dealer (Glassman Hyundai in Southfield, MI) and were able to limp it a mile down the shoulder at low speed to drop it off. However, they are telling us they have no loaners available to provide us which seems unacceptable with a car under warranty with 18k miles on it. Is there anything you’re able to do to assist? Are there any known fixes for the issue that can be reported to the dealer? Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Auto dimming headlights. The headlights have stopped auto dimming. I feel like this is a safety issue because if you have them on you have to push the switch forward and then pull backward to change them back to dim. It is not something that happens occasionally it is every time they are on. Not only is it dangerous for me but also on coming vehicles. I have taken it to the dealer and was told they were waiting on some way to test what the problem is.

I was riding on a suburban street and ran over a branch I did not see due to rain and darkness. I went back and looked at the incident and the branch did not seem like it was that big but I quickly lost power and my car stalled and I could not get it restarted. I later found out that that branch took out my hybrid battery connection under the car which rendered the car useless. It is a 5000 fix. I don't know why such an important part is exposed under the undercarriage of an AWD SUV. I was traveling at 27 MPH. If I had been on a highway it would have been very dangerous to have stalled out so fast. Once it was stalled the battery drained very fast from me running my hazards so that the tow truck driver had to jump it to get it to go from neutral to park and my parking brake is electric so I couldn't activate the parking brake either. I would also like to say that the headlights on this car are severely underpowered.

Cruise control and steering assist shuts off after brief but consistant warning to keep my eyes on the road. My eyes are on the road. I can do nothing to stop it from warning. It may happen up to 20 times in a distance of 9-20 miles. This has occured since purchase and occurs everytime the car is driven. While passing on interstate highways the system may shut off. Acceleration stops, steering assist shuts off. Four dealerships have seen the vehicle and a claim was issued by Hyundai America. A Service manager finally, after many request, rode with me after a year of many service appointment resulting in a change of passenger facing camera. No change occurred in the system, it continues to behavior the same a prior to the camera change.

During a routine service, the dealership failed to add engine oil, but recorded in the service invoice that it was added. I unknowingly drove the vehicle 3–5 miles without oil, and multiple DTC error codes (P052400, P001100, P001400) appeared. The oil warning light, which should have alerted me, did not activate. Although a later borescope inspection stated there was “no immediate damage,” since then, the vehicle has shown: Significant loss of power and acceleration Abnormally high RPMs, even when the car is stopped Louder engine noises RPM is increasing suddenly while driving downhill without acceleration This vehicle is less than one year old and costs over $40,000. This is not only a reliability issue, but a serious safety hazard for my family and others on the road. Attempts to Resolve: Reported to Hyundai corporate, case opened. The dealership admitted the mistake but denied responsibility after the inspection. Hyundai corporate stated “no action until further inspection,” despite clear evidence of negligence. I continue to experience performance and safety issues. Requested Action: I urge NHTSA to investigate this incident and hold Hyundai accountable for both the dealership’s negligence and the potential safety defects (oil light failure, possible hidden engine damage). There is a car next to me but is not coming into my lane and nobody in front of me. Suddenly a collision alarm starts going off the vehicle brakes and the emergency steering notification lights up on the dash and the vehicle swerves to the left almost hitting the median. After this occurred the transmission started having issues at speeds under 15mph with shifting. It would rev up to about 3500rpms then lunge.

On December4th 2024 my car rolled forward into a barrier post. I stopped to get air in my tires and the Parking Allert went off as I got near the barrier post. I then parked my car. I left my car running and driver door partially opened. I dropped the valve cap between the spokes of the last tire being filled. So, I got into the car and backed up about three feet to get the cap. Parked the car got out and it rolled forward into the barrier post. I was completely out of the car but just by my driver door. I tried to get back in but it was too quick. Subsequently, I drove to work to let my supervisor know i would need time to go to the dealership. I was concerned air bags would deploy since that didnt happen. Also because the car didnt stop on its own felt the integrity of systems were questionable. So, I repeated the steps at work like the incident. Except, I stayed in the car. The car beeped and the dash said Shift to P when my door was open and placing in drive and reverse. I NEVER got any indications of such when the car hit the barrier. I found the two DTC's that showed on my Hyundai App were related to DTC U110387 and U110382. I had 99 miles on the car having purchased it with 15 miles on it. The original date of these DTCs is Aug 27th, 2024, with a last reported Aug 30, 2024. I see recalls 24V529000 and 24V246000. I don't know if they are related. but this has to be addressed. My car is at the dealership being repaired and my insurance rate will no doubt go up and the value of my car down. This isnt right.

We purchased our '24 Santa Fe hybrid on 9/18/24 new with no problems. On 10/8/24, about three weeks later, I was stopped at a stoplight after exiting the freeway. When the light turned green, I accelerated and felt a clunk, then the car would not accelerate past about 30 mph. Several warning lights came up on the dash. I could hear the engine revving, but it felt like it wouldn't go into the next gear. I thought I could make it to the dealership, which was only a few miles away. But at the next stoplight, I was stopped in a turn lane, and when I pushed on the gas nothing happened. I tried shifting back and forth from park and restarting the car, but nothing helped. The car would not accelerate at all. CHP shut down the intersection and helped me push the car to the side of the road, where I waited for a tow truck. The car was towed to Folsom Lake Hyundai, where it was purchased. Warning lights said "Check hybrid system," "Transmission control system" and "Driver assistance system." The app listed these codes under POWERTRAIN issues: DTC P198500, DTC P178400. We picked up the car from the service center on 10/11/24. They said a wire came loose from the oil pump, so they reattached it according to factory direction and it's fixed. 5 days later, on 10/16/24, the car stalled again. This time on the freeway. I entered the freeway and accelerated, then felt a similar clunk and got the same warning lights. This time, the car would not accelerate at all. I stopped on the side of the freeway and was towed to Folsom Lake Hyundai again. It took almost 2 weeks to repair, but they said the same thing happened again. The same wire came loose, causing the car to stall. Their solution was to reattach it again and wish me luck. They said maybe I drove on a bumpy road, but there's nothing else they can do but reattach it and get it out the door. I do not feel like this is an adequate repair and we are now worried that the car will stall again in the coming days.

After shutting off the vehicle and waiting a few minutes, the dashboard appeared to reset, and everything returned to normal. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not find any issues as no codes were displayed. The abrupt decrease in speed while driving is a significant concern, as it could have resulted in a rear-end collision on the highway.

Forward attention warning camera continues to malfunction stating camera is obscured even when not. If cruise is allowed to be engaged the camera will randomly decide it doesn’t detect your face and will hard brake to stop the car. This has happened multiple times to me, narrowly avoiding collision from behind. Hyundai refuses to address the issue because their technicians can’t duplicate the issue so they state the car is safe to drive. Camera becomes hot to the touch much like an overheating cell phone. At times camera can be covered completely and will not detect it’s obscured. This camera is a big safety hazard rather than providing any safety. Someone will die if this is not addressed-the manufacturer doesn’t seem to care to fix the issue. I’ve reported this to the dealership from the 1st week I’ve owned the car. My car has been at the dealership for this issue almost half of the time I’ve owned it. I have seen many others with the same issue in Hyundai forums-their issues have always been dismissed as not a safety issue by Hyundai as well. How can a car that will brake from a high speed or any speed for that matter be safe-just because it “thinks” you aren’t looking forward but are looking forward.

Involved in a car accident 4/24 going 60 mph, driver cut over and made contact near driver side door, causing us to also slam into a concrete wall on passenger door. After 3 months and up to 29k in damages, insurance declared our car a total loss on 7/23/24. On 7/25/24 the recall was released. No airbags deployed but I had 2 airbag safety codes on my phone (after accident) I didn’t have the car for. 4/11 and on. POA was signed on 7/24/24 releasing car to at fault party’s insurance. Hyundai said they can’t do any investigation on the car to determine if it was a fault. Collision site and dealership was surprised airbags did not deploy. The final damage reported was the inner most pillar that was “last line of defense, cannot be repaired must be replaced” per collision site, had a crack all the way down. I was 30 weeks pregnant and now dealing with ongoing back issues and my toddler was in her car seat. Going that speed with that much damage and hit on both sides should have deployed airbags. Also interesting timing our car was totaled 2 days before official recall. All seatbelts in car “deployed” but side airbags did not. No airbags did
