My passenger's front door side vent window glass shattered unexplainably while I was making a left hand turn at 15 mph. This occurred at 7:25am in the morning after pulling my car out of my garage and driving about 1/3 mile before the unexplained glass explosion/shattering. The sound made was a loud bang/pop. Air temperature was around 68 degrees, no air conditioning was being used at the time. No other cars or pedestrians were around when it occurred. I inspected the glass and it does not appear as if there was any possibility it was caused by a rock or a projectile such as a bullet or bb gun. As mentioned the component that failed was a fixed vent window that does not open. Fortunately no passengers were in the car when the glass shattered. It has not been inspected since insurance will not cover the cost of the glass replacement. (Safelite glass to replace for $346.00 (my insurance deductible exceeds that amount). No warning signs before it occurred. (Possible manufacturing defect -impurities in glass? I don't think it was body flex or vibration which may have caused the explosion as I was driving only 15mph. I don't believe it is attributable to thermal stress either -due to no variation between internal and external air temperature)

Child opened the back hatch (as instructed). The child then pressed the button to close the back hatch. Fingers were trapped at the bottom of the hatch, and the hatch “clamped” into position. The interior hatch release was not sufficiently intuitive for the chiller to remove the trim and slide the tab, resulting in the child being trapped for 10-15 minutes before help arrived.

The fuel tank opener has become increasingly hard to operate. The fuel tank is supposed to unlock when the doors are unlocked. Sometimes it takes 10 or more times of unlocking the doors and checking the fuel door to successfully open the fuel door.

Vulnerable exposed radiator to road debris from the front and underneath my 2022 Santa Fe. It seems that this is an issue that is not covered by warranty and owners are held responsible with filing an insurance claim or pay out of pocket. Manufacturer needs to provide some type of protection for radiator or lose repeat customers.

On my vehicle I’ve had to have the horn replaced at least three times. Paying about $500 for the last two instances. While there is no formal federal recall for the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe horn specifically, it is affected by a widespread, known issue where water intrusion corrodes the horn's electrical contacts, leading to failure. Hyundai has addressed this with an extended warranty or service campaign in some regions to replace the horn. Saying this my vin # is not included in this but I can’t understand why.

This is a 2022 Santa Fe PHEV with just 33k miles on it. While driving on freeway, vehicle displayed warning sign for "Check Hybrid System" and the Check Engine light and Battery light switched on. Sensing a loss of power with the acceleration, I managed to get off the freeway and had to get the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. Once they checked the vehicle, they reported they had to recalibrate the HSG resolver motor and claimed the issue was now fixed. I collected the vehicle back from the dealership and to my horror, on the drive back home, the exact same problem resurfaced and I experienced a loss of power and stalling again. Now I have to tow the vehicle to another dealer again. Searching the internet for this problem shows that many other drivers have experienced and reported this issue, so I am recording my formal complaint. Twice in the space of a few days, I have experienced a safety issue that could have affected myself and my family and other drivers on the road. Hyundai needs to investigate and figure out the proper resolution for this failure and institute a recall to address ASAP.

The car was purchased new on June 30, 2021. On January 25, 2024 at 38,347 miles the horns failed to work and were replaced under warranty. About a week ago (c. January 24,2026) the horns again failed. The dealer was called and I was told that there was no recall on the horns and I would have to pay around $91 for the horns plus labor. The service manager told me that this is a common problem that has to do with where the horns are mounted on the vehicle. They are behind the front bumper and exposed to the elements. I feel that this is a serious design flaw and a safety issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer. There should be a recall instead of customers buying new horns every two years. Had the horns failure occurred during an emergency situation it could have resulted in an accident and possible loss of life.

I HAVE HAD THE HORN IN MY 2022 SANTA FE REPLACED 3 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 3 YEARS, and now it doesn't work again. I realized the newest horn is not working when a truck almost backed into me yesterday and I had no way to warn them to stop backing up.

THE CARS HORN HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS AND IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN.THE HORN LAST ABOUT 1 YEAR, THIS IS 2022 SANTA FE,
NHTSA #11707395
I purchased my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid brand new and in three years, both horns (high and low) have stopped working every year. I have had the horns replaced in March 2023, January 2024 and as I type this complaint, both horns are out again. It is a serious safety issue driving a vehicle without a horn. There is no warning that the horn is going to stop working; and I have discovered the malfunction while driving when I needed to alert another driver before we potentially collided. It has also been extremely inconvenient for me to take off work to take the car in for more service. What's more frustrating is I was told by a service manager that they (Hyundai USA) are aware of the defect with these particular horns but has chosen to continue to replace the defective horns with more defective horns. Now I drive an unsafe vehicle until I can take off work again to have my horns replaced with parts that will last for one year, if I'm lucky. I am asking for some assistance with this matter since it is clear that Hyundai USA has not made it a priority to solve this ongoing safety problem for all its customers who are having the same issue. Thank you.

I believe my vehicle is part of the parking prawn recall. It jerked and jolt when in park very aggressively. When we proceeded to try to move the car in reverse it did not budge.

The car horn failed to work when I went to use it around April 20, 2025. I first noticed it while stopped at a traffic light and the car in front of me failed to advance for several seconds at the green light. Then I noticed a car drifting over the line in oncoming traffic and was unable to use the horn to alert the driver. As I drive with my toddler granddaughter in the car, I needed the vehicle fixed ASAP. My independent car mechanic had to replace 2 horns (Hi tone Horn and Lo Tone Horn). Today I came to know of a Hyundai Forum and did a search on car horns. Apparently, this is a known failure for many years. Some owners have had the horn replaced as many as 3 times. I since have requested reimbursement from Hyundai, but they refused because I didn't take it to a Hyundai dealership. There were no warning lamps or messages.

Backup camera no longer works
NHTSA #11665367
I attempted to sound the horn and it failed to sound. I have experienced this problem 2 times previously. The dealer replaced it the 1st time when the vehicle had about 18000 miles. The 2nd time they did not even note it on a service report but when the vehicle was returned to me after an oil change it was working. I contacted the dealer this time because the vehicle is no longer in warranty and requested they repair the horns for free. I was told they would have to get clearance from Hyundai. I noticed that Hyundai issued a TSB 23-BE-009H for the Hyundai Venue for this same problem. The horns on the Santa Fe are mounted low behind the front bumper which subjects them to water from the road when it rains, as it does often, here in Louisiana. I am forced to drive a vehicle without a horn to warn other drivers.

The auto start system (the gas saving feature that shuts the engine off and on when the car idles) causes the car to shut completely off. This has happened on the freeway at a traffic light and while turning into traffic. When the auto start feature is off I don’t have this problem. It’s a major safety issue and I’ve seen numerous complaints about this on Facebook

NHTSA #11637066
The horn on this. vehicle has been replaced 4 times in 2.5 years. It has failed and on three occasions I nearly hit a pedestrian and other vehicles. I asked my service representative, John King, of Lia Hyundai in Albany NY if there is a recall on this issue. He said no. I researched this problem and found that this is a widespread problem with Hyundai. I feel strongly that eventually someone will be seriously injured or worse in Hyundai does not recognize this problem.

Someone ran a red light at low speeds and t-boned my and I flipped over. The damage to the back passenger was minimal that should not have caused my car to flipped which in turn made me sustain multiple injuries including a broken rib for such a minor incident. The safely of this vehicle flipping so easily for such an accident has me very concerned. I have also retained a lawyer for this accident as well.

While driving on highway on July 17, 2023, 2022 Sante Fe with less than 12,000 miles driven , suddenly lost power, RPM racing back and forth, and would not exceed 40 mph despite gas peddle to floor. Eventually was able to reach 60 mph, until reaching a slight incline where it dropped to 40 mph. I was seriously concerned I was going to cause an accident with several large trucks being forced to rapidly slow down behind me as lft lane was occupied by other vehicles. This is the second such incident. In October 2022, less than I month after I purchased vehicle new from dealership, vehicle suddenly lost power climbing a hill on a two-lane hiway with multiple vehicles not far behind me. I was terrified for fear of being hit from behind as this highway is curvy, heavily traveled, and bordered on one side with drops between 75-100 feet to the river below. The vehicle slowed to 30 mph despite trying to downshift/upshift pressing accelerator. There was no room to pull off road so I continued at 30 mph, trailing numerous vehicles until reaching top of hill where vehicle seemed to recover. Since I only owned vehicle for a few weeks I thought it was something I had done until I received a recall notice. Second incident above ocurred after vehicle had been serviced for recall.

1. Component/System: 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), specifically the transmission oil pump or hydraulic pressure system. Inspection availability: The vehicle is currently at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago and can be made available for inspection upon request. 2. The transmission exhibited slipping gears, delayed gear engagement, loud mechanical noise, and a transmission warning light. These conditions create the risk of sudden loss of drive power, unexpected stalling, or inability to control the vehicle, which could cause accidents, collisions, or injury to the driver, passengers, or others on the road. 3. A technician at McGrath City Hyundai initially informed us that the transmission oil pump had failed, which aligns with the symptoms. Later, another dealership representative claimed there was no issue, and the fluid was simply low. No written diagnostic confirmation or independent verification has been provided to date. 4. Hyundai corporate has been contacted and opened a case, but they refused to provide documentation or details of any inspection or repair, and did not assign a supervisor to provide clarification. No police, insurance, or third-party inspections have been performed. 5. Symptoms first appeared on March 9, 2026, including: Transmission warning light; Delayed gear engagement; Slipping gears; Loud mechanical noise from the transmission
NHTSA #11725044
1. The transmission warning symptoms first appeared on March 9, including a transmission warning light, delayed gear engagement, slipping gears, and loud mechanical noise. 2.5-liter turbo engine use an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). It has been in McGrath City Hyundai since March 10 for inspecton. 2. We were not harmed, but were very concerned about the safety of the car. 3. We only tried and waiting for this dealer for a ddiagnosis, but they verbally gave 2 conflicting diagnoses today. No written diagnosis report, no repair report. 4. This morning (9am), a staff informed us by phone that the vehicle has a failed transmission oil pump and that the dealership was waiting for approval for the replacement part. However, during a later call (1pm) today, another staff member stated that there is no issue for the transmission oil pump, and that the transmission fluid was simply lower than normal, with no leaks. We were told to pick up the vehicle today. We refused and waiting for them to email us a diagnosis report and a repair report. 5. The transmission warning symptoms first appeared on March 9, including a transmission warning light, delayed gear engagement, slipping gears, and loud mechanical noise. This conflicting information is extremely concerning, especially given the transmission symptoms described above. Hyundai issued Safety Recall #236 specifically for 2021–2022 Santa Fe vehicles due to the high-pressure electric oil pump in the 8-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) potentially malfunctioning, causing a complete loss of drive power. And there is an active class action about it too.

Description of problem: The Transmission will disengage while driving, allowing the car to 'coast' as if in neutral. The problem sometimes occurs at red lights, where the vehicle remains stationary for a brief period and then corrects itself as if nothing happened. I noticed the "D" character flashing on the dashboard when the issue occurred, indicating a problem. The engine will rev, but the car will not move. The vehicle spent about two weeks at the dealership (Hyundai of New Port Richie, FL), but they were unable to find an issue after conducting over 80 miles of test driving. The last incident occurred on June 8, 2025, only days after I had removed the vehicle from the repair shop due to this problem. When pulling into my son's driveway, the car's engine revved to about three thousand RPM, and the vehicle rolled backward, out of his driveway, and into crossing traffic. Luckily, the pickup truck on the street was able to stop before hitting my vehicle, which was now sitting in his lane of traffic. I looked down at the dashboard, and the car was still in "D" but would not move forward. After a few seconds, the transmission re-engaged and moved forward again as if nothing had happened. I DID NOTHING AND THE CAR RECOVERED BY ITSELF! I returned the vehicle to the dealership for further investigation on June 9, 2025, and am driving a rental. Summary: This car is unpredictable and unsafe in this condition. Someone could drive this car for days without experiencing an issue, but it does happen when you least expect it! I use this vehicle for local travel only, about twenty-mile trips.

A shifter malfunction error appears on dash. When trying switch into any gear it, the dashboard and front headlights flash. When I was parking, I put the car in park, the dash said park however the car kept moving and I almost collided into car in front of me. Another incident happened the same day when I could put the car in reverse from drive. I couldn’t turn the car off. Eventually I was able to turn it off but I had to put the emergency brakes on to keep car from moving. The error will appear when driving which is scary. The check engine light will appear sometimes. The car is scheduled for service on May 7th at Empire Hyundai of New Rochelle.

When shifting gears whether from parking to drive or from drive to park, the vehicle lags and makes a juttering noise. I am unable to move from the gear it is juttering in unless i turn the car off or hope that pushing the button turns it off. Whist it is juttering, it sounds as if the car is turning on and off repeatedly. This also has happened from the auto stop when trying to accelerate after stopping at a light and it get stuck and unable to move without me turning the car off and turning it back on. This is a safety issue since I was in the middle of a road, and I essentially have no control over what my car does. I have taken my car to Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg, IL multiple times and they do nothing about it since they "don't see it happening whilst it is there". I have videos of it and they still do nothing.
NHTSA #11655168
While driving at normal roadway speeds, the vehicle experienced a sudden and unexpected loss of power during acceleration. The engine remained running, but the vehicle failed to respond appropriately to throttle input, resulting in a significant reduction in forward movement. This created a dangerous situation, particularly in traffic conditions where consistent acceleration is required. The issue appears to be related to the transmission or powertrain system, though the exact component failure is UNKNOWN at this time. This condition poses a serious safety risk, as loss of power while driving can increase the likelihood of rear-end collisions or inability to safely merge or clear intersections. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized dealership; however, they were unable to reproduce the issue during testing and therefore did not perform a repair. Despite this, video evidence of the incident exists and clearly shows the loss of power event. There were no warning lights or messages prior to or during the incident. The failure occurred unexpectedly during normal operation. The problem has not been resolved and may occur intermittently, making it difficult to reproduce under standard inspection conditions. The vehicle remains in service and available for inspection upon request.

I took my vehicle in on 2/03/25 for a back up camera recall and to have my transmission checked due it not shifting correctly. I was called within two hours and told the transmission needed to be replaced. Weeks later they called and told me they had good news and bad news, the transmission was replaced, however it would not work. They replaced the transmission for the second time and had me pick up the vehicle on April 17th. I picked the car up and immediately went back in and told her it was not shifting right. They told me to drive it home and see how it did and they would have the service advisor reach out. On the way home, the car was at 5000RPM at 60mph. It was not shifting. The check engine light came on the next day. The car was taken back and I was told on April 21st the transmission needed to be replaced again. I was called on April 7th and told that there was a wire they needed to check that went from the transmission to the pcm and they were going to check it and see if that would fix it. That is 3 total transmissions that have been in this 2022 vehicle. The vehicle is unsafe to drive and Hyundai corporate is not doing anything to help.

On [XXX] my car started having trouble accelerating at some times- just happened out of the blue while driving normally. I was almost to my destination, so I parked and when I came back out, there was a message on the car screen that there was a problem with the transmission and to have it evaluated at my convenience. I was near the dealership so I drove there and they were unable to look at the vehicle but I asked if they could at least see what was wrong and if it was OK to drive. They said the code was DTC P1C2D03 and I was probably getting a new transmission. This code also showed up in the app. The TSB for this says that when this code is on the transmission will need to be replaced. [XXX] . They didn't have any appointments for diagnostics until 8/27/24, and told me it was safe to drive. My car continued over those 10 days to hesitate while accelerating at different times while driving. I never knew if I pressed the gas if I would get correct acceleration or not, which makes turning into traffic, merging, etc. unsafe. I also had 1 incident where I was at a stop sign and got no response at all from the gas pedal. I had to turn the car off and back on to get it to go. My car has only 12,000 miles. My car has been at the dealership now for 10 days waiting on them to do the diagnostics. On day 9 they called and said all it needed was a software update of the transmission control unit software and that they performed that update, test drove it twice and it was performing as expected. When I went to pick it up, the person who drove it from the lot into the service bay got out and told me the check engine light was on and there was an error about a transmission issue on the screen. The DTC P1C2D03 code is back on per the My Hyundai app. So they kept the car again and still waiting to find out what they are going to do. My vehicle transmission failed on July 9,2024. There was no warning. The dashboard lite up with a DTC warning and the car would not accelerate properly. I found there was a Recall for the vehicle but it was never sent to me. I was fortunate to be close to home and not on a highway or in a busy intersection at the time. Had I been there could have been a serious accident. My vehicle needed a new transmission which I did receive. The vehicle was only 2 years old with under 20,000 miles on it. The dealer was unable to provide a courteous car so I had to borrow a car from a friend for the week it took to fix the vehicle. Also when I purchased the vehicle on Sept. 16,2022, I was told by the dealership that I would receive courtesy oil changes for three years. The first two were free now they are telling me it was a mistake and they are not. I was forced to pay $94.00 for the oil change to get my car back from the dealership.

Car odometer 5,952 miles Year 2022 Car started driving slowly and would not accelerate. After stopping at a traffic light it started to move sluggishly before loosing all power. Restarted the vehicle and moved to safety, check engine light was illuminated. I looked it up on the app and it provided a DTC code "P1C2D03" which was attached to previous recall regarding transmission issues loosing power. Upon review the recall did not include my vehicle but it has all the hallmarks of the previous recall. the problem my be a more wide spread then initially lead to believed.

The car’s transmissions seems to give out intermittently while driving, where when you accelerate the car nothing happens and you seem stranded on the road at a set speed. The care DTC code check reveals the following error: "A possible condition with your Transmission Control System has been detected with your 2022 SANTA FE”. This code associated with this error is “P1C2D03”. This code seems to have been associated with previous transmission issues with KIA and Hyundai vehicles for which NHTSA has issued recalls. I believe this is a safety issue with hyundai vehicles placing more lives at risk. Thank you and hoping for a resolution.

Vehicle lost partial power while driving, would not accelerate past 30 miles per hour. There were no warning lights and it continued for the 30 minute drive home. It was a dangerous situation as the vehicle would not accelerate and barely made it up some hilly roads. The engine would not rev past 3000 rpm's with the accelerated pedal pushed all the way to the floor. Vehicle is at the dealer to determine if they can identify the cause of the problem. It only happened one time as of now.

The Vehicle Trim is "Calligraphy" which comes with an 8 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission. This Transmission is Faulty and i already swapped 4 Transmissions under warranty under 55k Miles. (3 refurbished last one Brand new all having same issue) The Manufacturer *does not* want to admit that this is a Manufacturing Defect. (i opened a ticket #[XXX] with Hyundai Corporate office) The Vehicle surges forward when in "Park" which should not happen and I'm afraid it might result in a bigger risk. There are no fault codes or errors. It is a documented issue with multiple owners and discussed on Forums. The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. The contact stated while shifting into reverse (R) and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated and responded slowly. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she then shifted into drive(D) and was able to drive; however, the failure recurred while driving and depressed the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed an unknown speed while driving. The contact stated that she had parked the vehicle and allowed the vehicle to run for 20 minutes. The contact stated that she then turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the next availability for diagnostic testing was in a month. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,500.

From park to Drive or reverse there’s an issues with changing in between doing so. Loud noise and shake to the car when engaging in the new gear. Then it sounds like the cars accelerating but parked, not moving. When you put it back in drive a loud thud then revving noise occurs. Once driving again just after there’s little to no movement when you put your foot on the pedal. When you drive it’s slow to go. You can hear the car trying but you’re hit going the same pace as the other cars on the road. Seems unsafe. This has happened more than once. I mentioned it to the delayer they said it was fine. No issues.

The vehicle started stalling on HWY and check engine light came on. I was trying to accelerate as other vehicles were catching up but it won't do that. After a while it did regain the power. We took the vehicle to Hyundai dealership in Roswell, GA and they reset the check engine light. They told us that it was OK to drive with solid check engine light. We need to pull over and call roadside assistance if check engine light starts to blink. We have an appointment for oil change on 8/18 and when we bring in the vehicle at that time, ask them to do the diagnostics. Even yesterday, the car started to stall. Reported the incident to Hyundai case # 21849832. Error code on dash - P1C2D03

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 80 MPH, the "power low" warning message was displayed, immediately after the contact vehicle proceeded to decrease in speed. The contact proceeded to pull over onto the side of the road to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was able to successfully restart, and the contact successfully drove to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed however the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

The vehicle shuts off completely when stopped at a stop sign, traffic light, or parking space. This has occurred multiple times. Hyundai can not find the problem after multiple times in the shop. The last time it occurred I was in the middle of a busy intersection and was almost broadsided.

The car was idling for about 30 mins as I waited for delivery of groceries at curbside pickup. I put the car in drive but the motor did not kick on. I was able to drive on electrical power until the hybrid battery died. I lost complete power in the middle of the Interstate but I was able to coast to the shoulder. I had a check engine light and other warning lights on the dashboard but they went away when I restarted the car

On 10/31 I loss power while on the freeway for the 2nd time since August. The car was assessed and fixed according to the dealership. My car threw a 2nd code which was cleared and not fixed due to not showing issues according to the dealership. I got my car back in mid November. I immediately complained that I still had a rough idle and was told my car was fine by the manager via service rep. On 11/28 my car loss power on the freeway again for the 3rd time since August. According to the codes, all my cylinders are failing one by one. This is a huge safety concern. The dealership could care less.

The issue with Hyundai 2.5 L turbocharged engines is getting a lot of exposure on-line. My story begins about a year ago with me complaining to the Hyundai service department about my 2022 Santa Fe Limited hesitating, lurching, and stalling (once) following acceleration from a complete stop, all without the Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminating (which the dealership said is needed to initiate troubleshooting). In addition, there is a common thread where dealerships are telling owners that it is "... probably bad gas." On 2 October 2023 the SUV started and was idling very rough, and as I drove off, the CEL illuminated (finally). After turning off the SUV for five minutes, it started fine with no CEL. My OBD-II code reader pulled three codes from the SUV that afternoon: P0300, P0301, and P0302 (Misfire - General, Misfire - Cylinder 1, and Misfire - Cylinder 2). The trouble codes should be sufficient for the service department to locate a problem, and to their credit I was placed in a loaner vehicle when I dropped the SUV off on 7 October 2023. So far (24 October), they have not identified a problem, even though there is a fuel injector Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for multiple Hyundai vehicles (including my Make/Model/Year) that may or may not apply to my specific vehicle. Bottom line: The vehicle is unsafe to drive (as I told the service manager), has had this problem for approximately one year, and if the vehicle stalls when I am entering traffic it is not going to end well - not for me in a stalled vehicle and not for Hyundai after they had an opportunity to address the problem.

I have experienced a sudden loss of power when accelerating and then sudden vehicle slowdown and engine shutdown. Twice this occured at either hiway speed or accelerating to highway speeds. In both of these cases I easily could have caused or been involved in a serious crash. The third time happened on a city street and was not as egregious. There was no forewarning this might happen...no warning lights on the dash, etc. The vehicle is currently in a dealership service department after the last occurrence , and has been for five days with no knowledge of the current status. The prior times the dealership, Kolar Hyundai in Hermantown, Mn. has only cleared the error codes stored in the computer, but not identified a cause. The three times it was in the dealership were 2/15/22, 6/28/23, and 9/5/23. The second time it had to be towed in. The car currently has 9200 miles on the odometer. I am now afraid to drive it, as I consider the problem to be dangerous to my safety, as well as other vehicles. I have contacted Hyundai Customer Care, but received no response as of today.

In November 2025, my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe began to hesitate when accelerating and would almost "jerk" when I pressed the gas pedal. Soon after my check engine light came on and I made an appt to take it for the closest Hyundai dealership (as it's still under warranty 33k miles) Upon running a check the dealership notified me that Fuel Injector 1 has misfired and will be replaced. I receive my vehicle back and not even 100 miles later my check engine light in on again and the same issues are arising. Back to the dealership to see now Fuel Injector 3 has misfired and there is an open TSB showing all 4 Fuel Injectors need replaced. My vehicle was finally returned to me in January 2026. It is now February 16, 2026 and my check engine light in on YET AGAIN. I've been given the run around from Hyundai Corp about fixing this vehicle. Why is this acceptable treatment when a vehicle is under warranty ?

While traveling out of state, my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe (2.5L) experienced a sudden loss of power and rough running during acceleration to pass; check engine light came on. Independent shop pulled code P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire). Vehicle became unsafe to drive and was left at a Hyundai dealer in Indiana. I later learned Hyundai issued TSB 25-FL-001H (Jan 2025) for 2.5L GDI injector internal filter breakage that causes misfires and directs replacing all four injectors. Parts were quoted up to three weeks on backorder. This sudden power loss during highway passing presents a safety risk (inability to accelerate/merge). Vehicle is under 60,000 miles.
NHTSA #11681280
Vehicle failed to accelerate while operating on the highway. Pulled over and shut vehicle off and smelled gas. Vehicle would not stay started. Towed to dealer and was told it was a defective fuel injector. All injectors were replaced. Apparently this is a known problem. This could have been extremely dangerous if I wasn’t able to pull over. Hyundai should issue a recall to replace these defective parts.

Bought Car in 2022 when COVID was still a problem. I had problems with the LED screen on the dash turning off. It did come back after about 10-15 minutes. I had to pull over to the side of the road in the meantime. I brought my car in and no problem was found. I was told that there was no way they could order a $6,000 part if they could not reproduce the problem. I still have had this problem periodically, but it does not last as long. This can be a safety risk when the screen goes out when driving. My check engine light has gone off many time in the 3 yrs and 7 months of me owning the vehicle. I am asked if the light is blinking when this occurs. If I said 'no', I was told 'then you don't have to worry'. I had my car in to evaluate the engine light on, and was told not to worry that no code showed up (I did not get a service record if they didn't find any thing, despite me asking). The very next day I was stranded on a busy Hwy. My car was towed to the shop. I barely got off the Hwy as one of my fuel injectors was bad. I was 45 min from my home and the check engine light went on. I started driving home and called the service dept. I was told that as long as the light was not blinking, it would be ok, and I tomorrow I should call for an appt if it is still on. My car started to act up when I was nearing my home, but it was drivable. The next morning the light was still on. I did not feel safe driving it around and felt it was another fuel injector. I was driving my car to the shop and the car was slowing down a little at a time. By the time I was about 1/2 mile from the shop, my car was only going 14 miles per hour. I was driving on the side of the hwy with my flashing lights on. Very unsafe. I know that I have a lemon for a car, but not taken seriously, that is a PROBLEM. I have had many more times that my engine light was on and would bring it in for an evaluation. Sometimes things were found, other times not. I am concerned about that lack of concern.

First the vehicle randomly lost all power and engine function, so was taken to the Hyundai service center. It was a safety issue as we had to coast to the margin in heavy traffic. Hyundai attempted a fix and returned it to us. It developed issues before we even got home. Now it is has been 6 months in the service center with continuously new issues. Every time they assure us it is fixed and we try to take it home, it develops another failure and the check engine light returns. The technicians have told us they have no explanation for the multiple failures and are not confident they can permanently fix the vehicle. The failures are unrelated and are with the manifold, gasket, CVVD,, oxygen sensor, and battery. A bolt also sheared off in this time frame and had to be drilled out. In the last failure, the car began smoking heavily and dripping oil. We've requested a replacement. Hyundai said they will not replace the vehicle (nor buy back) and it is acceptable that multiple systems and parts fail within 3 years.

Headed to my work ,outside temp 26 deg F, when on hiway entrance ramp, vehicle lost all acceleration. Vehicle is a hybrid, condition no warning lights on dash, vehicle was stuck in EV mode, which the ICE engine would not start to help as normally would do. Hybrid battery began draining very quickly. There was a semi truck right behind me accelerating hard to get on highway .This time I managed to pull over on the debris filled shoulder before the system fully shut down as it has done before with the warning ️ HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE, PULL OVER NOW ! and loud alarm going off. This is a serious loss of total motive power, which I've reported to Hyundai Corporate, and dealerships for repair before, to which they say " we can't duplicate, all systems are fine", and blame me for the problem. Hyundai has washed their hands of this dangerous situation and won't help me. This is the 5th occasion of this problem, I now know from my experience and reading Hyundai forums this issue is wide spread among Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe hybrids, with some places replacing parts, that doesn't fix the issue. I know how to react by pulling over immediately, shut off the vehicle completely, wait... Then restart the vehicle, and so far ,it will drive normal with no codes or warnings after that, until the next random occasion it happens. This is extremely dangerous in cold weather and around other traffic posing a major collision hazard and stranding someone who knows less about this condition. Hundreds have reported this as per the forums, yet no recall or TSB or real fix has been issued by Hyundai.

While Driving home from work, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Vehicle's, Hybrid battery began to discharge rapidly, the Gasoline Engine did not start to charge the system, within 1/4 mile the Hybrid Battery fully discharged, and the Vehicle lost all acceleration , the Dash warning " CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM, STOP SAFELY " came on along with a loud audible warning beeping. I pulled off the road as soon as possiable. The Vehicle would not accelerate, and the gasoline engine part would not start. Several other warning lights illuminated, including the 12V battery low warning. I turned the Santa Fe off, and called Hyundai Roadside Assistance. While on the Phone with the assistant, as it was Night time, I couldn't see to check the VIN number for her I turned on the interior lights, then continued talking to the assistant. I attempted to restart the Vehicle , and it started the Gasoline Engine this time, we talked, and she suggested I see if the Hybrid Battery would now charge it's self, which it very slowly did up to 1/8 full, then I attempted to move the Vehicle to a safer location , a Gas station parking lot. I was able to drive the short 1/4 mile to the parking lot, but the vehicle had very little acceleration. Almost no power! At the parking lot I attempted to rev the engine to get more power to the Hybrid Battery, while waiting for a Tow Truck.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY USING CRUISE CONTROL, THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING HAS ENGAGED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. A few days before the complete engine failure the car became very jerky on the throttle response I would slowly add throttle and the car would jump all over the place with RPMs and felt extremely jerky when shifting gears. At one point the engine downshifted past redline when decelerating off the highway. The day of the engine failure I was accelerating up hill after leaving a stop sign. Around 25 mph the throttle stopped responding and the engine went to idle around 800 rpm. The car started violently shaking and sounding like it was running on 3 cylinders. I tried the throttle again and nothing happened. At this time I was slowing to a stop on the hill while still in lane being unable to get out of lane to the shoulder. Upon coming to a stop the vehicle continued to shake and eventually the engine stalled while keeping the electric on. At this point there was never any lights on the dash board to indicate a fault. Upon attempting to restart the engine it turned over 3 times and eventually started all while violating shaking and eventually stalling again. The third time attempting to start it did not turn over. At this point I was stuck in lane and needed to call the police to come and assist me because I was unable to move the vehicle under its own power putting my life in danger. Upon taking getting it towed to a dealership they said it was a fuel injector fault.

The car has been taken to the dealer multiple times for not accelerating out of 1st gear when starting up, and also for shuddering at high speeds. We have been stranded, hundreds of miles from home on 2 occasions, first with less than 30,000 miles because the spark plugs needed to be replaced. And the second occasion, also hundreds of miles from home, because the car failed on the highway and limped into a dealership, where one of the fuel injectors was replaced at approx 50,000 miles. The mechanic at this dealership voiced his concerns that these were the original fuel injectors, He said he was aware of the problem, but was only permitted to replace one of the fuel injectors. The car continues to shudder at occasionally, and refuses to shift out of 1st gear at odd times. We have tried to get Hyundai to replace the fuel injectors, but they refuse. I would like this to be serve as a record of our problems so that others can be aware of a problem that exists with these cars. This is a safety issue, as if the car will not accelerate on a highway or crossing a road, it is possible to have an accident. Also, having the car fail on a remote highway is also a safety issue.

While driving to work, the rear driver-side window suddenly fell down into the door without warning. The power window/regulator system appears to have failed. The window would not stay up or operate normally afterward. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. This created a safety concern because the vehicle could not be secured, outside air/noise entered the vehicle while driving, and rain/debris could enter the passenger compartment. It also created a distraction while driving because the sudden window drop was unexpected. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or prior symptoms before the failure. The issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or independent repair shop. The vehicle/component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others. The suspected failed component is the rear driver-side power window regulator or related window mechanism. Cause is unknown.

The horns stopped working, and this is a safety item since it’s the only way to notify another vehicle or pedestrian if they will be hit by my car. Another day, a car came out of the parking lot and almost hit my car. I was only able to avoid that accident because I reversed quickly. I took my car to the dealership, and it was confirmed that the horns are not working. To fix this issue, I need to replace them. But since my car is out of warranty, I will need to pay for this service. On 07/14/2025, I called Hyundai (Case number 4117-7538) to request the application of an extended warranty that they started to offer for the 2021-2025 model year Elantra (Z03). Since my car is the 2022 model year Santa Fe, they did not accept my request. I noticed that on several websites, Hyundai car owners are complaining about their car horns. Just the fact that Hyundai started to provide an extended warranty for a different model, but in the same year range as my car, confirms that they are having issues with this part. I just know about this extended warranty because I also have an 2024 elantra hybrid, that is covered by it (as you can see on the uploaded letter).

Beginning on 04/17/2026, my vehicle began displaying multiple safety-related dashboard warnings simultaneously, accompanied by audible alerts. The warnings included the Forward Collision Safety System, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Stability and Traction Control, Lane Keep Assist, and AUTO HOLD — all activating at the same time. These warnings reappeared on several occasions and were photographed with date and location data embedded in each image. My vehicle was brought to Burlington Hyundai dealership, where a repair order was opened and a loaner was provided. The car was returned without the issue being fixed. Within days, the same warnings reappeared and the situation worsened. On multiple occasions, the engine shut off completely and the transmission shifted into neutral on its own while my vehicle was being driven at approximately 20 to 40 mph. On at least one occasion, the parking brake engaged automatically without any input from the driver. A dashboard photo clearly documents the message "Engine Off! Shift to N, then start engine." These failures are a serious danger to everyone on the road. When the engine shuts off while driving, normal steering and braking ability is lost. When the parking brake engaged on its own, the car stopped abruptly with no warning. Any one of these incidents could have caused a serious accident or injury. My vehicle was returned to the dealership for a second repair visit and a second loaner was provided. The dealership confirmed via text that the car was still in the shop but never followed up with a diagnosis or timeline. When the dealership was called directly, no update was provided. As of 06/04/2026, my vehicle has been at the dealership for at least 30 days across two visits — 11 days for the first and at least 19 days for the second — with no confirmed root cause, no completed repair, and no clear communication.

After about 15 seconds of lack of acceleration, the accelerator responded enough for me to pull over. I’m glad this incident did not occur on a highway, during a turn, or other hazardous situations. Dash displayed, “Check hybrid system. Pull over safely”. There was no indication or issue with the vehicle prior to this. I haven’t had any issues since I bought it several months ago. This issue almost caused a serious accident just this week when I was trying to merge into traffic on I5.

While driving the car keeps Jenkins, and on the dash board it cane up have your power train checked. My vehicle has been in the shop 4 times since February over 30 days twice. My vehicle is still currently in the shop at the dealership. They refuse to check my power train area, and keep telling me 2 of the cylinders are backfiring

My vehicle has been having repeated issues within 2.5 years of my purchase. Initially it was the transmission and Hyundai service center with poor customer service kept the car for almost 20-25 days before replacing the vehicle. Now, I have picked up the vehicle for less than a week and I get another Powertrain DTC code P030100 and check engine light on. Hyundai service centers are worst in the country, very poor customer service. I have to take my caribou 100 miles away to a different service center because the in town service center wouldn’t even look at the car and says has no appointment. I have to drive the car for about 100 miles with engine light on which poses a major risk to the car and myself to even ben able to get the car service done under warranty. The company advertises best warranty in the industry but makes it hard to fix the vehicle under warranty. Please stay away from buying an Hyundai in future. Thank you.

My Windshield is the problem. My granddaughter drives with me often and afraid the glass will shatter. Yes, the corporate office for Hyundai. No, this was done while driving, all occasions.

this was a CERTIFIED vehicle i purchased. i dont believe it was certified because after returning it after -3- weeks because the windshield wipers werent working properly. after they looked at it the dealership told me that whoever put the windshield in it broke part of the windshield wiper connections and also ruined the calibration on certain safety features, and broke the windshield itself. this was not caught on their CERTIFICATION process and just put out on the lot to sell. they expected me to pay 1/2 of the expense for which i refused.

Middle of May 2024 car begins to feel like it's shifting when accelerating and stopping. Nothing found by Hyundai Service Dept. Lakeland. On apx. [XXX] while driving stepped on gas pedal and felt no power. Kept pumping the pedal & car started jerking. Managed to get to light and get in left lane to turn into plaza honking horn. Car slid to a stop at entrance. On apx. [XXX] my husband was driving home and same thing happened. Managed to slide car into our driveway. Both times the car had to be towed to dealership. Two fuel injectors have been changed and when I asked them to change other two they said warranty would not allow. Worst case scenario is if this happens on the interstate traveling at 75 miles per hour. Not only could we be killed but others. Both times there was no warning lights or any other warning. The car just started jerking and lost power. It can very well cause a car to rear end us and a multiple car chain reaction hurting or worse killing others. I am filled with anxiety every time I take the car out for errands. I also saw a similar incident reported in the Better Business Bureau here in Tampa by another person. I reported my incident to Hyundai Corporation by phone and email and asked the rep to reported it to her superiors to see if they could just please let the dealership replace my other two fuel injectors & I was told they could do nothing. The dealership has told me several times the injectors must fail before they can replace. Apparently, the cost of the injectors is more than someone's life. Ref NHTSA TRACKING # 11557625 Vehicle broke down again within 5K miles and 45 days of prior repair referenced in above case. Similar conditions, highway speed, bucking and vibrating, loss of speed control, no warning. Subsequent repair confirmed same issue (fuel injector) as original breakdown/repair and my initial notification to NHTSA.
NHTSA #11559090
Vehicle began to shake, buck and emit a grinding noise while traveling on highway resulting in loss of speed control and associated fear. Check engine light appeared simultaneously. No prior indication of a problem. Managed to limp to next exit via shoulder. Had car towed to dealer as warranty was still in effect. Problem was diagnosed as fuel injector failure and repaired. Learned it is a common, recurring issue with Hyundai 4 cylinder engine. Not unusual to have multiple failures per vehicle. Hyundai is only authorizing repair/replacement upon individual failures, not pre-emptive even though common and recurring. Confirmed this is a common, recurring issue across Hyundai via our local mechanic and internet info. Vehicle has now experienced a second failure and is being towed to dealer.

Vehicle: 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe | Current Mileage: 140,000 Description of Safety Defect: While operating a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe at speed, the vehicle suffered a sudden, complete, and catastrophic loss of motive power in the middle of a live, active roadway without any prior warning or dashboard indicator lights. The transmission abruptly dropped out of gear and the engine shut down entirely, trapping the driver and three young children in active traffic and creating an immediate, life-threatening highway safety hazard. The vehicle was towed to Sport Durst Hyundai in Durham, NC, where technicians confirmed a total internal transmission failure where the gears fail to engage. This exact mechanical failure mechanism directly mirrors the severe engineering defect detailed in NHTSA Campaign Number 22V746000 (Hyundai Safety Recall 236) for electric oil pump failures causing a sudden loss of drive power. Hyundai Motor America Corporate Case Management has issued a flat denial of all safety and goodwill repair coverage based strictly on the vehicle's 140,000 miles, claiming that mileage absolves them of product liability for a catastrophic drivetrain safety defect that endangered three young children. Furthermore, the franchise dealership is actively withholding the GDS diagnostic failure scan codes from the consumer, calling them "internal documents" to actively suppress federal evidence of this safety failure. Further, the authorized Hyundai dealership engaged in deceptive practices by refusing to put anything in writing, and refusing my request for any diagnostic information, including any report indicating diagnostic error codes, technician summary, etc.

Our vehicle continues to experience loss of power driving , on cold days below freezing. When driving normally this hybrid vehicle will be in hybrid mode at a stop, then when accelerating, the ICE engine will not start to assist the hybrid, causing a bare minimum of power to be available, just enough to pull over. On several occasions this has led to very near rear end collisions from the driver's behind. So far I've been able to avoid injury, as I recognize the condition and am hyper attentive to its possible happening. The vehicle handed shown any Check engine warnings until yesterday. As it was dying I pumped the accelerator to see if it would go, latching a TPS out of range code. The condition has been brought to Hyundai Corporate and dealerships with no repair, and no resolution, they say it's fine. This is well documented by others driving Santa Fe Hybrids, and Tucson Hybrids on forums. No one fix has been established, with some dealerships replacing parts, and others no work being done because their scan tool sees nothing. With dozens of recalls for minor inconvenience issues, I do not understand why a recall for this drivability safety issue has not been mandated! These vehicles are defective, and potentially very dangerous. Loss of power, acceleration when others are behind you anticipating you to go, is a real serious danger, not to mention you being stranded in frigid weather. This began happening at 23k miles and continues today with 48k miles on mine. If the vehicle is shut off, then restarted, it is again drivable, until the next happening. One reason Hyundai, says nothing's wrong, and often blames the owners. I can't be without a vehicle, and Hyundai has washed their hands on this, so I'm stuck Hyundai must be forced into an investigation, and a safety recall on this or nothing will be done. How many accidents or deaths are required to get a recall accomplished?

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that intermittently, the gear shifter was inoperable, and the message "Gear Shift Malfunction" was displayed. The contact stated that the failure required that the vehicle be turned, which automatically engaged the parking brake. The contact stated that upon pressing the Start button, and then depressing the brake pedal, the contact was able to move the gear shifter to park(P) and to the other gears. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wiring was open between the transaxle, the rain switch, and the shift control unit. The dealer replaced the wiring. Upon test-driving the vehicle, the dealer noticed that the vehicle was still experiencing abnormal vibrations. The dealer recommended that the transmission be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

NHTSA #11695126
I have a 2022 santa fe xrt within the 1st yr of owing in 2022 the horn stopped working in the winter. Went to dealership told it was known issue they replaced it. A few months later into following year still winter went out again they fixed again stating my car has 2 horns and both failed. So far 2022 and 2023 2 times. Fast forward to earlier in 2024 beginning of year horn failed again took to dealer expressed my concern of this is a safety and inconvenience issue they apologized but no recall yet. Now it's almost 2025 and I will be taking my car back to the dealership this weekend for yet another time due to the horn not working at all. I've found out my horn has not worked due to driving and a vehicle almost colliding into my lane and went to honk horn and nothing. A separate time a person has cut out in front of me almost causing an accident and all I could do is to lock up my breaks and swerve hope they see me and don't get hit could not beep to warn them. I bought the car brand new in 2022 feb and I have had the horn replaced 4 to 5 times and they still are staying no recall this is ridiculous.

Vehicle began to display Front collision avoidance system error/ radar blocked. This also disabled the 'smart' cruise control features. This happened any time the cruise control was engaged and we encountered traffic. The unit was in the dealer's service department for a week, and the front radar module was replaced and reprogrammed under warranty.
NHTSA #11689104
I was driving at approximately 65 MPH using the advanced cruise control system. Randomly, the system disengaged and I started getting 2 MIL warnings on my console. MIL warning 1) was "Check Forward Safety System" and 2) warning the advanced cruise control parameters are not met due to warning 1. A few minutes later, I received a message on my Hyundai Blue Link app showing DTC C162078. After researching this DTC, I found that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of other drivers that experienced this same/similar situation -- unexpected loss of advanced safety features and smart cruise control features. In fact, Hyundai published a technical bulletin for another model with the same issue. The loss of these functions places an unexpected safety risk to the driver if this issue occurs when there is other traffic present. My vehicle was involved in a frontal accident once about 1.5 years ago and this issue has never occurred. This is the first instance of this issue since I purchased the vehicle brand new from the dealer.

I have taken my Hyundai Santa Fe 2022 PHEV under warranty for a fix of being in reverse, the function not working, the car revs aggressively not in gear and then put it in park and the car aggressively jolts forward in park like a hard gear change. Hyundai replaced pcm and said it was fine. I took car and immediately noticed grinding noises and straight back to Hyundai. They claim it's fine. Today same issue with reversing and aggressive car jolting. Hyundai is going to take it back tomorrow. I do not feel safe in this vehicle. It felt like the transmission was going to give out on the freeway. The rpm are maxing out at 5-20 mph and sometimes don't want to engage in drive. Extremely unsafe for freeway driving. There is something terribly wrong with this cars engine or transmission. Unsafe for Hyundai to release for use.

In any event I am constantly having problems with acceleration, stalling, the car puts itself in Neutral, and on occasion has completely turned itself off at a light or while driving. I do have a video of the acceleration problem and revived an email back from Laura Nelson. This is a very serious safety issue. Hyundai is not responding to following up. I also took it to an outside mechanic to put in the computer and got a general code so there is a problem somewhere. Thank you Susan Piller

Vehicle purchased 9/1/24 from Courtesy Hyundai of Tampa. Dealership failed to file registration/tags until 10/4/24. 7/12/25: Vehicle experienced involuntary acceleration and braking, resulting in impact with my mother’s home. 7/16/25: Dealer issued written report stating vehicle was operating normally and documented a recall-related display/audio/camera software update. 8/14/25: Hyundai engineering inspection performed without my knowledge. No report has ever been released. 8/27/25: Hyundai issued corporate denial, blaming driver error and stating braking/acceleration systems were normal. 12/5/25: Second involuntary braking incident at highway speed on I-275. Five uncommanded braking events over ~20 miles. Service Manager stated failure was due to sensor/camera malfunction and instructed that the vehicle should not be driven and to tow immediately. Despite this, the vehicle had been released into roadway operation. VIN lookup shows an open, unrepaired federal recall (24V879000 / Recall 271) for the rearview camera system, marked Recall Incomplete, despite the dealer’s documentation that recall-related camera/software work was completed on 7/16/25. BBB Auto Line denied my claim only because the vehicle was outside Florida Lemon Law eligibility. No safety determination was made. Hyundai released no engineering, sensor, or camera data despite an engineering inspection. This vehicle has experienced repeated involuntary braking and acceleration at highway speed, involving braking, camera, and automatic emergency braking systems, creating a serious risk of loss of control, collision, injury, or death. Despite repeated failures, contradictory diagnostics, withheld engineering data, and an open federal recall, the vehicle was released back into public roadway operation. I request that NHTSA formally investigate this safety defect.

On October 28, 2024 and again on November 26, 2024, a warning light appeared on the dash which said “ check hybrid system stop safely” Within 20 seconds both times , the car became inoperable . When I stepped on the gas nothing happened . The first time I was blocking major traffic , the second time I was on an interstate in the right lane and had time to pull over. In about 15 minutes the light went off and the car drove as normal. The dealer has had the car after both instances , currently for 28 days, and has not been able to replicate the problem .

3 different times in last 3 weeks the car seems to lose power while I’m driving. It will not go above 35-40mph even though I’m trying to accelerate. No warning messages. I had to go slow with my hazards on until it eventually slowly returns to speed. Very scary on the highway.
NHTSA #11572626
Loss of acceleration while driving. This has occurred multiple times (always while moving or actively driving). The first time we were driving up a significant hill and the car slowed, lost power and we had to pull over and coast back down the mountain to a repair center. The second time, I was on the freeway and lost acceleration causing me to pull off the road in median. The third time, I was at a stoplight and when the light turned green, I had almost no movement after edging into the intersection. Eventually, at about 5 mph, the car regained speed. The check light went on in the first event and the car was supposedly repaired at the second dealership by re-tensioning "pins". However, no lights or warnings went on for incident #2 or #3 that occurred after the earlier repair effort. The vehicle is currently at the dealership service center for it's 7th day of "unable to replicate the problem" after incident #3.

I have videos of these two incidents and others that I could not upload. While driving on the PA Turnpike at 4:25PM on 5/22/26 75 mph my accelerator pedal stopped responding, my front collision warning light, engine, EPB, and numerous other lights came on across my dashboard despite there being no contact with any object and my speed rapidly dropped. The front camera came on as if there was an object too close. I was in the middle lane. While I was trying to move to the shoulder there were tractor trailers behind me and to my right that began flashing their lights because my speed drastically dropped and was unable to safely stay with the flow of traffic in the heavy rain. While still in Drive car started changing through notices on my digital screen "Check Blind-Spot Safety system" "Check Forward Safety system" with the car crash icon, and "Check Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system." Then I began trying to press the accelerator pedal again and the car would not move at all but the tachometer was going to 2x1000rpm. When I turned the car off and turned it back on again the engine light was still on, but the accelerator pedal was responsive. About an hour later when the tow truck driver from AAA attempted to drive the car on to the flat bed the accelerator pedal was unresponsive again. This was at least the fifth time my vehicle had lost propulsion without warning. Every prior time Bowser Hyundai had different reasons for the failure, made a repair, and said it was safe to drive. Another incident occurred 4/7/2026 using cruise control at 84 mph when the car unexpectedly lost propulsion. The accelerator was again unresponsive, I was on the turnpike with two children in the vehicle. I steered towards the shoulder and the car slowed to a stop. After that incident, Bowser Hyundai replaced the transmission on the car. They notified me on June 18 that they believe they fixed the problem again but I don't feel the vehicle is safe for my family and worry it will be deadly

Engine light for car read codes PO 304 303 420 prior to sale of car per code read out taken when engine light went off shortly after my purchase. Not addressed prior to sale. Codes read and called to dealership. Car taken for service. Reported fuel smell, exceleration issues, short stallings. Same codes. Stated car was " fine." Drivable. Asked for brakes/ rotors to be checked. No documented brake service given. Stated they were "fine." Taken to local brake place next day that confirmed brake rotors needed repair. Car returned after began sputtering. Reported as fuel injector failure. A known issue with this makr and model that shown codes point to that were given to, and read at service center by mechanic at dealership twice. They did not mention replacing catalytic converter, that is damaged from injectors and an emissions issue at time of call regarding repair report. No brake report or inspection requested multiple times to be checked. Did not follow correct protocol to ensure engine was clear of fuel sprayed by injectors into pistons, intake valves, ect. They placed my self at risk for engine fire, sudden car failure. Consistently mislead and failed to do proper reseach and care regarding car issues and hazards it presented. Being a known issue with this make and model it was a failure to inspect for issue. An emissions failure and violation to allow a damaged catalytic converter to be on road. This issue with the car is in class actionable suit. It is not on the recall list. As it damages the whole car systemi including emissions, it should be forced to be on the recall list so dealerships cannot allow potential harm to their customers as well as violating emission laws.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that there was no impact on the panoramic sunroof glass to cause the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle only operated in LIMP Mode. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel injector was inoperable and needed to be replaced. The fuel injectors were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000.

Took my 22 Sante fe to the Hyundai dealership to have the blower motor checked since I have no air flow in my car. Dealership informed me that the engine harness needs replaced and that it melted the fuse box under the hood. So, I am not able to replace my blower motor at this time due to the melted fuse box. Dealership also advised that they have seen the same problem in multiple 22 Sante Fe. and that there is likely more with the same issue within the United States. Ever since I bought by car in 2022 brand new the car has been shaking when I press on the brakes going around 70 mph. I took the car multiple times to the dealership and all they do is resurface the rotos. One time they refused to even look at the car so I called corporate and they got the dealership to do the same thing as before. But still the car shakes. I called corporate and they said to take to dealership to once again get the rotos resurfaced (how many times are they planning to resurface the damn rotors?) I took to dealership because the car was saying it was overheating. They ended up changing the thermostat or something related to it. And I asked them to once again look at the rotors because of the issue. The guy came back and said “we didn’t look at your rotors but you need brakes and that’s $500”. They refused to guarantee me if doing the break job will fix my issue. And I’m fed up. I looked online and as it turns out, the Santa Fe’s have a lot of possible manufacture defects. Such as: -Breaking System (Shudder / Vibration Common Issue) -Cooling System (Common Failures) - Suspension & Steering Components -AWD / Drivetrain (If AWD) -Electronics & Software - TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) Audit - Turbo oil-supply pipe crack / oil leak risk -Fuel-system pipe / fuel-rail hose leak (on certain turbo models -Transmission oil-pump / transmission-system recall (power-train issues) -Rear-view / backup-camera defect (visibility / electronics issue) (this actually did happen to me and they fixed it, but they denied it was a recall when I asked if this was common. So they lied) -Trailer-hitch wiring harness fire-risk recall And possibly more issues I’ve yet to come across other owners having. These are pretty serious issues. Some causing even the car to catch fire. This is extremely worrisome and I need peace of mind. Please help me out Thank you for your time

Fuel access door does not open correctly. Fuel door does not have a lock or a require pressing of a button to open; you would normally just 'push' on closed door to make it pop open. Over the past (3) months, this has not always been working. Sometimes it requires multiple high-pressure pushes (or a light bump) for door to open. On other occasions, unlocking the vehicle (all doors) and not just the driver's door that unlocks when exiting the vehicle has somehow contributed to getting the fuel door open. Multiple online Hyundai Santa Fe forums make mention of the fuel door being a widespread issue and suggest requiring replacement of an actuator in fuel door by dealership or prying the fuel door open with a screwdriver. Prying door open, in my opinion, is not an option because of potential damage to door and painted surfaces around the fuel door.

On [XXX] at [XXX], my [XXX] daughter was locked inside my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe (VIN: [XXX] ) while holding the Smart Key fob in the back seat. She pressed the lock button, and the vehicle completely locked — with her and the key fob still inside. This violates the Smart Key safety feature described in Hyundai’s owner’s manual, which says the car should not lock if the key is inside. That system failed. There were no warning lights or alerts. I had no way to unlock the doors. I experienced a full panic attack. I feared my child could die from heat exposure. I was forced to break the rear window to rescue her. I was terrified the glass might injure her, but I had no choice. Since then, I have been emotionally traumatized and avoid driving out of fear it will happen again. To my knowledge, this has not yet been inspected by a dealer or Hyundai. I am reporting this because the Smart Key locking system failed in a dangerous way that put my child’s life at risk. This system should be investigated for defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The steering wheeled locked up and the dash showed error messages of check hybrid system and refill inverter coolant and car seemed to go into limp mode as I could barely accelerate forcing me to pull over. The messages and issue would go away upon turning off car and turning it back on, however the issue would eventually happen again. This has happened while driving on the highway and other various road situations without warning and making the vehicle very unsafe. vehicle will not change out of EV electric mode and return to gas power causing hybrid battery drains to zero, vehicle loses acceleration, you can push the gas pedal to the floor and you have no acceleration, very UNSAFE when you are in traffic, no power to maneuver or avoid other vehicles quickly if needed, potential for accidents, hybrid system warning lights and alarms go on, have to try and pull over safely, battery will not recharge or takes a very long time to do so, only recourse is to shut vehicle off and restart which seems to reset vehicle, which in turn does not leave any warning lights other than codes on to show dealer, very dangerous to lose all acceleration capacity while in traffic, this has happened multiple times with the latest being today 3/23/25, vehicle is available for you to inspect, have had other powertrain codes issues as well, dealer has replaced fuel pump and erg valve but it does not resolve this hybrid issue, this battery drain issue has occurred multiple times but no resolution, help!

Vehicle would not shift when accelerating on gas pedal while driving, rpm’s went up to 5,000. Had the car towed to closest dealership and they haven’t looked at it. They stated they are unable to assist me with a rental car. I am home alone with 2 children and cannot go to work. There is a transmission recall on the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with the exact problems the car has been having. Recall #236, campaign #22V746000. I called the recall consequences customer service # and they stated they were unable to help me until the dealership looked at it. The problem started in fall of 2024 and I took it into the dealership first on 11/5/24 and again when it continued the problem 11/14/24. The 11/14/24 visit they performed a software update and the car shifted smoother in Smart Drive Mode only. On Friday, 3/14/25, while driving home from work, the car would not shift at all when pressed the gas turning into traffic. I turned on my hazard lights and pulled into a parking lot. I called roadside assistance and had the vehicle towed to the dealership.

Driving along, merging onto Interstate, various warnings such as check lane keeping assist, and warnings to stop vehicle and check brake systems. Driving approximately 50mph, the warning started to flash and speedometer dropped to zero then went back to full speed. Automatic braking was attempting to slow the car. Attached photo shows an indicated speed of 0mph, however was travelling approximately 50mph at this time. I also have video of the errors occurring, but there is not a way to upload video.

When pressing the accelerator from a full stop, the car would either not move at all, idle/roll forward, or unsteadily jerk forward. In addition, the car would brake while driving despite not applying any pressure to the brake pedal. This issue persisted regardless of "drive mode" and no cruise control was in use.

Was driving home from work on the highway at highway speeds and suddenly lost the ability to accelerate with a "Check Hybrid System" warning. At the time of loss of power, I was crossing a bridge and got stuck in the middle of the bridge. I also notice the oil indicator light come on. The engine remained on as far as I can tell but it wouldn't go with the accelerator pedal pressed. I placed the car in park and turned off the vehicle while blocking bridge traffic. 15 seconds later, I turned the vehicle back on, vehicle said ready to drive. I put the car in drive and everything worked normally as best I can tell. Still nervous driving the car for fear of it happening again. Called dealer service but they were closed. What I don't understand is there was 2 recalls for Hyundai Sante Fe hybrids 2022 but when I put in my VIN it said no recalls. Why is it only associated with a VIN?

My vehicle made 3 ringing sounds and began to decelerate from 67mph to 0 in less than 2 minutes. I had to pull over quickly to avoid getting rear ended. This incident happened twice already. I took it in to the dealer and they were not able to recreate what happened. This occurrence happened 2weeks ago.

Vehicle was being driven at highway speeds and suddenly lost the ability to accelerate with a "Check Hybrid System" warning. After pulling to the side of the interstate, car was shut off and restarted and brought back up to 40 / 50 mph when the same issue occurred with a lack of ability to accelerate and a "Check Hybrid System" warning. The issue appears to be related to some portion of the hybrid drivetrain. Car was then towed but two mechanics (one independent and one Hyundai dealership) could not replicate the issue and the vehicle system did not store any codes or history of the incident. The safety of the driver was put at risk by lacking the ability to accelerate on a major interstate, leaving the driver stranded for two hours waiting on a tow truck on the side of a busy interstate with traffic moving at speeds up to 75 mph.

I was driving on the freeway when suddenly I heard a clunking sound. Suddenly I was unable to accelerate at all. My speed was 60 mph and I had the gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor. Nothing happened and my speed would not go over 60. Then a message began flashing on my dashboard. I cannot remember the exact verbiage, but something along the lines of Hybrid System Failure. My car began losing speed and I was unable to accelerate to make it go faster at all. I lost complete control of the speed control. I was in the middle lane of a 5 lane freeway and struggling to get over since I was unable to accelerate at all. It was an extremely dangerous situation as I could no longer control the speed of my vehicle on a freeway. Finally, I was able to exit to an off ramp. My car continued to lose acceleration and finally came to a complete stop on a side street. My car was then towed to the dealer and they are unsure what the issue is. On doing some internet research, I have found a lot of postings of people having this same exact issue with the Hyndai Santa Fe Hybrid 2022 and I think it's a dangerous defect in the car.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the vehicle was difficult to steer. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. In addition, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was almost involved in three crashes due to the failure. The contact had to drive the vehicle onto a curb to avoid a crash on one occasion. The contact stated that during the failure, the rear hatch switch became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer replaced several unknown sensors; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure had occurred six times. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer after the first failure due to the steering failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer and scheduled for an inspection by the manufacturer’s engineer. The failure mileage was approximately 17,500.

On November 28 2023, I was pulling onto a small highway when an alarm went off, car stopped (engine off) as other cars were coming towards me. The message displayed was "autostop is off. Shift to P or N and start engine manually". Because the alarm was so loud and I was concerned, I snapped a picture which will be attached. I immediately pushed start button and was able to get out of the way. I had not turned the Idle Start Stop (ISS) button to off - so supposedly it was on. (You have to push this button to turn ISS off. This happened twice until I was able to get to service department. After much time (and using a loaner car) Hyundai agreed to provide a new battery because of its health. This happened again. I took the car back and the manager showed me a technical service bulletin - regarding my car - "Rough Shift and Hesitation Improved Logic". This didn't sound like Idle Start Stop bulletin but I was assured it was (attached). Though the stall has not occurred since, the ISS icon at times just isn't there. My dealer is communicating with Hyundai to try to keep my car again and provide a loaner. I am reporting this because many others on Hyundai Forums are describing the same incidents. Yet I haven't seen anyone mention the Technical Service Bulletin, even though many have taken this problem to their dealer. To me this needs to be considered for a recall. I had a daughter and grand daughter in my car and had no idea what to do with cars approaching. Fortunately, just pushing start worked. I have read the manual and know what is required for ISS to work. All requirements were net. It is possible the TSB has fixed stall issue so I am mainly reporting for other drivers.

Last night while driving home the panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. The result was a hole approx. 20 inched by 20 inches. The glass fell onto the fabric cover. We were traveling at about 40 mph. The roof was not hit by a rock or any other item. The explosion was very loud and frankly frightening resulting in temporary confusion as to what was happening. I have learned that Hyundai has settled a class action lawsuit in 2015. I have contacted the dealership for replacement but my question is if they knew about this over 8 years ago why has this not been resolved?

automatic parking brake does not engage. Brake is totally not functional

The horn is not working. I looked on google and it says that the manufacturer does not know about the problem and other cars are not working.

While driving on the freeway yesterday, my sunroof exploded above me. There was no rock or any evidence of anything hitting my car roof to make it explode it just happened out of no where.

While driving I could not accelerate over 35 mph on the freeway this has happened at 10 times now. While driving my parking brake will come on causing me to stop immediately. This is a huge safety risk not only to me but the people in my car or driving around me. My vehicle has been brought to dealerships multiple times and nothing has been done they can’t find the problem.

On FRI 30JUN23 while driving across country in out 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with a panoramic sun roof with our daughter, who was on her first trip after battling brain cancer, experienced the unthinkable. Wile driving down the highway states away from home we heard a deafening explosion with glass raining inside the vehicle almost causing us to veer off the road. Upon expecting the source of the glass in was discovered that the sunroof had exploded. Were lucky to have had the shade closed at the time of the incident preventing glass to fly in the face of my daughter who was sitting in the back seat. The incident left us stranded at a Hyundai dealer in Fayetteville Arkansas forcing us to rent a vehicle to complete our tip while waiting for repairs. We were informed by the dealer that this is a known issue and to keep a window cracked to prevent pressure from building up in the vehicle. This is a searious safety issue that needs to be addressed.
