NHTSA #11745111

I am reporting a severe, life-threatening mechanical component failure of the front passenger seatbelt assembly on a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. While the vehicle was completely parked, stationary, turned off, and with the ignition keys removed, the front passenger seatbelt experienced a catastrophic static lockup. The occupant had reclined the seat, and the seatbelt accidentally became wrapped around their neck. The seatbelt was never inserted into its buckle receptacle, and the webbing was never fully pulled out to its maximum extension to intentionally engage the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode. Despite no rapid deceleration, extreme cabin angles, or full extension, the retractor assembly falsely engaged a permanent, one-way ratcheting lock. With every minor movement or breath by the occupant, the mechanism tightened further around their neck and completely refused to release tension. Because the physical obstruction of the occupant's body prevented the belt from retracting fully into the B-pillar to reset the mechanism, the occupant was actively choking. Time became critical, and the decision was made to physically cut the seatbelt webbing to prevent imminent asphyxiation. Because this life-threatening locking loop was triggered by a mechanical failure of a primary safety component—systemically linked to active safety recalls on this vehicle's pretensioner/seatbelt system—I am requesting a formal safety investigation. I demand that Hyundai Motor America issue a corporate variance to fully replace this cut seatbelt assembly at no cost. The failed physical components have been preserved for engineering inspection.

Front seat passenger seatbelt has come unbuckled while the car is in motion. Middle row seat behind the driver the seatbelt has come unbuckled while the car is in motion many times. I've contacted the dealership in Eugene Or several times and they continue to tell me they will have more in "next week" and they will call me to schedule. I've been waiting for many months. The seatbelts come undone so often in the middle row that I won't let anyone sit there. I've reached out to the customer service number and was also told the dealership will call me. I feel my car is unsafe since the seatbelts could come off at anytime. This is a known recall as of September 11, 2025. Recall number 25v607000

Seatbelts in front and middle row do not latch right away most of the time. We have to double check the every time and push extra hard to get them to click in.

NHTSA #11721222

I'm just realizing this is a recall. I have not been notified by mail. My second row passenger seatbelt does not always lock. I have been getting on my children thinking it was them. Also I have not been contacted about the third row head space issue. So I'm wanting to get me complaint online

NHTSA #11718188

Recall for safety seat belts not repaired in a timely manner. It’s been 2.5 months, I called the first time after one month to see how much longer for the parts to come in and was basically told it is what it is, most people wait over 2 months, that was in January. It is now March and still no repairs done. Finally on an expedited list after this second phone call. Hopefully not too much longer because I don’t feel safe driving my twins in this vehicle.

Subject: Stop-Sale Violation — Hyundai Palisade Recall #25V607000 I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade (VIN [XXX], from Napleton Palatine Hyundai, Illinois. The dealer completed the sale even though the vehicle was under an active stop-sale order related to Recall #25V607000 / Campaign 283 (Seat Belt Buckle). The recall remedy is not yet available, and the dealership has refused to release the vehicle after purchase. This situation leaves the consumer paying for a loan and insurance without possession of the vehicle and represents a potential stop-sale violation under 49 U.S.C. §30120(i). Please investigate this case and confirm whether the dealership violated federal recall and consumer protection requirements. Whenever I’m getting in my car and I’m trying to start it sometimes I will move just a little bit in my seat and my seatbelt will come out of the seatbelt assembly and then my car will automatically put on the emergency brake. This has happened on multiple occasions for my seatbelt will just pop out of the latch without me pushing on the button. This has significantly decrease my confidence that my car will keep me safe in the event of a crash.

NHTSA #11694248

My car seatbelt has been coming undone for years- since I bought the car brand new. I immediately reported to Hyundai. They cleaned it and claimed it’s fixed. I left and my seatbelt came undone again. I bring it back and they said it’s recalled but there’s no solution. How is this okay? I am supposed to drive with a faulty seatbelt that unbuckles while driving and Hyundai is going to allow it?? If I crash and it comes undone and I die then what? They have let this problem go on for years with no solution.

NHTSA #11691297

Recall notice has been issued but no resolution has been received yet. Submitting claim of failure to come to a resolution timely. This recall affects my family and use of the vehicle and our comfort.

NHTSA #11700085

The seatbelt sensor kept going off even though seatbelt appears to be buckled. Dealership identified that seatbelt buckle was not operating correctly and not clicking all the way. This put my kids unknowingly at risk.

NHTSA #11681873

The 3rd row seat on the right will not latch into the seat belt buckle My child is not able to put the seat belt on No warning signs

NHTSA #11685887

The second row seat belts randomly unbuckle when driving even when buckled by an adult. It has happened with both a child and an adult in the seats, as well as with a car seat.

NHTSA #11671974

Seat belt latch quit working. Latch no longer connects. Internal spring and related issues found by dealer. Repair in process.

NHTSA #11675674

Drivers side seatbelt doesn’t retract correctly when released. Often gets stuck and jammed in the car door. Also it doesn’t tighten enough to be effective in a crash and locks the problem is intermittent and even with an extended warranty that I paid for, Hyundai refuses to cover this and says that they can’t replicate even though I replicated this in front of the service tech and provided a video of this occurring. I have uploaded pictures of the damage the seat belt caused and it won’t let me upload the video of the problem occurring.

NHTSA #11668595

The second row seat belt on just one of the seats has done the following: it takes multiple attempts to get it to latch, it will "click" latched and then release shortly thereafter, or it will just release for no reason after being latched for several minutes. Reading online, it appears this is happening to a lot of other Palisade users as well. It started doing this about a year ago and still continues today. It is an intermittent problem and does not do it everything you attempt to fasten the seatbelt. This is very concerning because we have kids in these seats and fear their seat belts could come unlatched during an accident.

NHTSA #11666238

Seat belt randomly disengages while in use. Has happened to multiple people, multiple times. Once every 500 miles or so since new, over 80,000 miles ago. Confirmed nothing has been in the way of normal seat belt operation. Has happened to both drivers seat, and second row seat on drivers side.

NHTSA #11665919

Second row seat belt continuously releases while driving when used with child booster seat. We have made multiple attempts for problem-solving and resolution, including always having an adult buckle the seat, and attempting to clean all areas to ensure there is no dirt or debris with no resolution.

NHTSA #11665274

The Right Captain Chair seat belt come unbuckled while we're driving down the road, this happened multiple times, every time when we visit dealer, they manually check it (without passenger in seat or simulate the issue) and said no issue with seat belt buckle. There is not option to reproduce and record the situation to prove while driving, however this is life threatening to my kids if the belt unlatched from the buckle while car is on the road. Note: This happened multiple times in 2024 and three times in 2025

NHTSA #11667698

Picked the car of the shop from having the hood and roof repainted. The seatbelt tensioner was broke. Therefore it doesn’t retract. It may have been twisted at one point. But now it just lays on seat. No one can ride in front seat bc of a broken seatbelt.

NHTSA #11659128

The drivers seatbelt and right passenger seatbelt come unlatched. I took it to Stevinson Hyundai where we purchased the vehicle and they said they were unable to reproduce the problem. It’s true that it doesn’t happen every time/can be unpredictable. However, it continues to happen and is a major safety concern. I looked online to see if others were experiencing the same problem and found that many others are.

NHTSA #11648984

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to fasten the rear passenger’s seat belt, and the seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the seat belt buckle had an internal failure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN for the seat belt. The approximate failure mileage was 82,500.

NHTSA #11649002

Second row seatbelts unlatch unexpectedly while car in motion. Seatbelt sensor alarms go off even when seatbelt latched. This has happened in all 3 rows in separate instances. Seatbelt alarm will sound and panel indicates seats with nobody in them have seatbelts that should be latched. This has occurred when an object (like a purse on the passenger seat) or no object on the seat.

NHTSA #11645793

Middle row right seat belt keeps coming unlatched during normal operation. I ensure that it is latched correctly when I start driving. The passengers are not touching the seatbelt when it unlatches. We are notified that it’s unlatched by the seatbelt alarm. This started happening about three years after purchasing the vehicle. After happening several times, we took it to the dealer, who said they couldn’t replicate the event. It happened again about a week later.

NHTSA #11648943

The passenger seat belt will spontaneously unbuckle without warning or cause. This puts the passenger safety at risk in case there were a crash. The problem hasn't been repaired by a dealer but it's happened about 4 or 5 times. I've not had it inspected. No warning lamps went off before the failure. Luckily, the passenger unlock alert went off when it unbuckled so we were alerted to the seat belt buckle malfunction.

NHTSA #11642578

Our seatbelts all throughout the vehicle keep randomly coming undone which is causing anxiety and stress to hurry and fix the problem while on the freeway, especially with the young children still in boosters that need assistance. Yes, it has put us at risk. No but I did google it and multiple complaints. No, their isn't.

NHTSA #11662827

The seat belt for the seat in the second row on the driver's side comes unlatched without warning while we're driving. This is already an open investigation: PE24021

NHTSA #11642743

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the contact became aware that the seat belt had independently unbuckled from the seat belt buckle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twelve times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, a dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

NHTSA #11663976

The 2nd row, passenger side seat belt came unbuckled while we were driving. Then we started struggling to get it to click in. Now it won't close at all. I read online that this seems to be a common issue and that NHTSA started an investigation so I wanted to share my experience. I am bringing it into the dealer today.

NHTSA #11641659

The seat belts are often difficult to latch. On many occasions, they have come unlatched on their own.

NHTSA #11639893

The seat belts unbuckle on their own while driving. They are fully engaged and the safety light indicator turns off but then as you are driving they will intermittently unbuckle themselves. I have taken it to the dealer several times and have been told it’s a corporate issue and there is nothing they can replicate so they can’t do anything about it.

NHTSA #11636953

On at least three confirmed occasions, the driver side 2nd row seatbelt has unlatched by itself. No other symptoms. Not yet inspected by anyone, but intending to ask Hyundai to fix it ASAP.

NHTSA #11657390

Driver and passenger seat belt buckle unlatch by itself while driving.

NHTSA #11641782

2nd row captains chair seatbelts spontaneously release without pressing button. This has happenned on both sides and multiple times. The issue occurs even after driving for a bit after hearing the click and tugging on the seatbelt to confirm initial latching.

NHTSA #11635555

On two separate occasions, the front passenger side seat belt has disengaged during driving. There was no warning when this occurred. The seat belt monitor was off (indicating it was appropriately latched) when this occurred. The entry of the seat belt is very soft and does not latch appropriately. I have brought this up to the hyundai dealership I have my car serviced at and am awaiting an appointment to address this concern. Unfortunately, they are unable to get me in for an appointment for 2 months.

NHTSA #11638245

It started 4 years ago right after purchasing the vehicle. I slammed on my breaks and my child’s seatbelt unbuckled and he came flying forward and hit the back of the seat in front. I reported this to the Hyundai dealership where they reluctantly replaced my seatbelt. It has come unlatched less frequently. Now the seatbelt on the other side continues to come unlatched while driving. It happens about once every couple months, and always while driving. I am very concerned for my child’s safety and worry about having to slam on my breaks.

NHTSA #11634511

My second row passenger side sealtbelt unlatched itself without notice when driving on the highway at 50 miles per hour. My grandson was sitting in his booster seat when the seatbelt unlatched! It was a frightening ordeal! We were on an expeessway with limited availability to pull over. The adult passenger in the other second row seat made several attempts to secure my grandson's seat belt after it unlatched, while the car was in motion, unsuccessfully. We purchased this vehicle 2 months ago from a dealership. As soon as we got the car, both of the second row seatbelts were very hard to lock. Several attempts had to be made to get them to lock every time they were used with a child seat. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center since this happened today. I have made an appointment with a dealer to have my seatbelt replaced in 2 weeks. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps pr messages that indicated this problem. Once again, there were symptoms of the problem because when we first got the car, we had to make several attempts for both 2nd row seatbelts to lock when used with a car seat.it was highly annoying!!! But I had no idea the seatbelt would ever unlock itself. Scary!!!!

NHTSA #11634742

Multiple times the drivers seat seatbelt became unlatched while driving despite being buckled adequately

Engine20 quejas

This vehicle is still using the defective style piston rings causing oil consumption of 1.5qts in 1000miles, With only 100,000miles. This has been ongoing since we purchased the vehicle with 94,000 miles. This needs to be issued as a recall to replace piston rings or the engine entirely. My valuemax level 4 extended warranty is refusing to repair the issue stating hyundai/kia has carbon buildup on the piston rings. This engine could run low on oil and cause a fire, or a engine shut down causing a crash.

NHTSA #11721125

The engine in my 2021 Hyundai Palisade experienced sudden loss of oil leading to engine failure. The vehicle had been regularly serviced and maintained at a Hyundai dealership according to recommended intervals. During multiple service visits, the dealership informed me the vehicle was low on oil. An oil consumption test was performed but the results were inconclusive. At approximately 99,500 miles, the vehicle developed an oil leak which the dealership diagnosed as a gasket issue and repaired under warranty. An oil change was completed at that time. Approximately 5,000 miles later, while driving, the vehicle began experiencing loss of power and rough engine operation. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership later informed me the engine had no oil in it when inspected. There were no active external leaks observed at that time. The dealership stated that it is “normal” for this engine to consume up to one quart of oil per 1,000 miles. The engine now requires full replacement due to internal damage caused by oil loss. This situation created a safety concern because the vehicle began losing power while in operation. The failure occurred suddenly without warning indicators prior to the loss of engine performance. The vehicle had documented oil level concerns during previous service visits, suggesting a potential excessive oil consumption or engine defect. The failed engine is currently available for inspection at the dealership.

OIL FILTER HOUSING IS LEAKING. PLASTIC PART IS WARPED AND DOES NOT ALLOW FILTER TO SEAL. LEAKING OIL IS A FIRE HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE.

NHTSA #11719625

Oil filter housing leak. Does not impact oil levels but more notable during cold weather as the ring tends to shrink.

NHTSA #11713976

The engine is burning oil at a rapid rate. It's burning one liter every 70 miles.

NHTSA #11719663

Excessive oil consumption. The vehicle is burning nearly 4 quarts of oil between changes. This started at around 100,000 miles with no warning lights. The only indication was a strange tapping noise coming from the engine.

NHTSA #11722801

I bought my vehicle almost 2 years ago with 30K miles on it. In December 2025, the car started stalling and wouldn’t run properly. I took it into the dealership and they stated that the engine was burning oil. This was at 90K miles. Hyundai refuses to fix the motor issue because I’m not the original owner. This issue would have started even before the 90K miles because the vehicle had almost used all its oil in between the normal oil change interval. They did a sludge clean and we checked the oil again after 1500 miles and it had already used over a quart of oil.

NHTSA #11714406

My Hyundai Palisade was bought brand new in 2020. It currently has 131,500 miles on it. I noticed at around 110,000 miles that my oil was getting low before each oil change. I check my oil frequently. No oil leaks can be found. So the engine is burning oil somehow. My mechanic says Hyundai says its acceptable for it to burn oil after 100,000 miles but 2 quarts between oil changes seems excessive. Ive talked to other Palisade owners who have this year model and have the same issue. If I were not a responsible consumer and checked my oil as frequently as I do then its very possible another consumer could have burned their engine up before they knew what was happening because there is no leak just burning of the oil. This is very dangerous.

NHTSA #11740741

The engine failed due to oil consumption. The engine burns to much oil. It burns more oil than it holds during normal intervals between changes. It also did NOT give any oil lights or engine lights on the dash (not one indicator came on). When we took it in the service advisor told us the computer had indicated a problem, but that was for the technician.

NHTSA #11698137

I started smelling coolant fumes in my vehicle. Upon inspecting the coolant reservoir, I noticed it was empty. Upon inspecting the radiator itself, I noticed that some of the coolant was leaking. Fumes associated with the leaked liquid touching hot parts in the engine were entering the vehicle cabin. I noticed there was a technical bulletin regarding this issue for Hyundai Palisades. I informed the dealer as well as Hyundai corporate. Despite the technical bulletin, both entities ignored my issue and said it was not covered under warranty. In addition to potentially impacting the engine (if the coolant runs out), I believe the fumes are toxic and pose a serious health risk to passengers. As this seems to be a well known problem, I believe it needs to result in a recall (and not a technical bulletin).

NHTSA #11701039

While driving after owning the car for only 2 months and before the next oil change was dure the car started surging and then died when turning a corner. No check engine light or any warning or error lights triggered on the car. The car was restarted and limped home slowly about 2 min from where I'd shut off. The hood was opened and oil lipstick checked to find no oil in the vehicle. Not oil leaks anywhere, no check oil or engine light and no error codes found by dealership. The dealership confirmed no oil leak and consumption issue, oil change done and have to return in another month to jump through hoops to get engine repaired as this is a consumption issue not a leak issue. Dealership is playing games with us around this and trying to get out of repairing the car. But internal engine issue was confirmed. Vehicle returned to us unrepaired to drive for 1000 miles and return for further review even though the issue was confirmed. This is a safety risk to me, and others on the road. Hyundai of Union County is the dealership playing games in getting this repaired. ,

NHTSA #11692294

Oil Consumption- Oil is being consumed at a rapid rate. Even when there is no oil in the vehicle, there are no lights that show up to signify low/empty oil. Once the oil is run dry, the car begins to make noises, can not accelerate, and jolts while driving. Oil must be checked every 2,000 miles.

NHTSA #11691822

This car is consuming oil rapidly.I checked oil level to and had no oil on dip stick The car has not bee inspected yet. No warning lamps came on to warn me of low oil.

NHTSA #11670221

My vehicle is using too much oil. I was between oil changes and my car did a safety shut down while I was driving on the busy highway with my grandchildren and left me like a sitting duck. I was finally able to get it off the middle of the highway by restarting the vehicle. My engine light was lit up. I parked it for 15 minutes and then restarted it and traveled the 40miles to home. The next day I took it to our local mechanic and he ran the code and it shut down for safety due to no oil in the vehicle. He added 4 quarts for me. 96033 was the mileage showing on my sticker for when the next oil change was due. My current mileage showed 94743 showing I still had 1290 miles before my next oil change was due. I have always used Swope Hyundai in Elizabethtown, KY for my vehicle service. I called and scheduled an oil consumption test. I did what they said and they said that it was an acceptable amount of oil loss per Hyundai standards. I am still over 1000 miles away from needing my oil change and my husband has been checking my oil for me about every 1000 miles. He stated that he has put in 5 quarts of oil in my vehicle since my last oil change. If he had not done this then I would have been left in a terrible situation again out on the road endangered of being crushed by semi trucks etc. when my vehicle would have shut down again for safety reasons to protect the engine. Why am I paying over 800 per month on a vehicle that is burning oil, I cannot trust and I work out of town 80 mile round trip and mane numerous trips to town for my grandchildren's activities. I need answers to this problem with immediate solutions. I love my vehicle but I do not love this oil consumption issue. I have researched and I do see that many of this type of vehicles both Hyundai and Kia have had issues.

NHTSA #11691318

Engine is consuming too much oil causing oil light to come on and it continues to happen.

We have brought the vehicle to Potamkin Hyundai on three separate occasions, [XXX] [XX], and [XXX], and [XXX] due to the engine stalling unexpectedly while driving. This issue has placed our family, including our children, in serious danger and has not been resolved. At our initial visits, we were informed that the engine was consuming excessive oil. However, during our most recent visit on August 5, 2025, we were told that the engine was full of oil and functioning properly, and that no error codes were present. Because they were unable to duplicate the issue, we were told we would need to pay out of pocket to tear down an already faulty engine which is unacceptable. Despite this, the vehicle shut off once again while driving, creating a hazardous situation that is completely unacceptable and life-threatening. My 2021 Hyundai Palisade has had some issues relating to the engine recently. We take extremely good care of our cars, and are early when due for our oil changes. A couple of months ago, my husband checked my Palisade's oil before a trip. There was NO oil showing on the dip stick! I had just gotten an oil change 2000 miles before. He added 6 quarts of oil, and it was still only showing half full. We brought it up to the dealer, and they did an oil change and $900 worth of replacing things that were not covered on the extended warranty. Last month, I drove it, and the engine light went on AGAIN. We brought it in, and they said there was no oil? We told them it is not leaking anywhere, but it might be burning off or slipping somewhere else. They did an oil change (which we had to pay for even though there was no oil) and told us to come back in 1,000 miles. We went back and they said it was burning over a half quart after 1,000 miles, but Hyundai won't do anything unless it burns more than 1 quart in that time. Then, 3 days later, my engine light comes back on, and here we are again. NO oil, not even 1,500 miles, and at the dealership again A WEEK LATER! This time, they are doing a combustion chamber cleaning? I understand there are procedures that need to happen, but this does not fix that my engine is burning my oil. 3 of my coworkers have had their engines replaced due to this issue of oil consumption and where it goes. This can cause my car to die on the side of the road, immediately, and combust! My family is at risk of being in the car, and so are others who drive around me if this happens. Why is Hyundai waiting for this to happen? This is completely negligent on their end!

Engine burning 6qts in less than 3k miles of driving. Aside from that, the engine light does not always illuminate to tell me it is low. Now i watch monthly and add oil as needed

NHTSA #11718242

Engine consuming way to much oil. Did oil consumption test and it is going through a quart and half every 800 miles. Dealership is dragging there feet on getting this taken care. They put a solution in to see if that would fix it. Now it is eating oil more I have to put two quarts of oil in every week. There is no low oil indicator on this vehicle which is terrible so you have to check it or pay attention to the noise. The car runs so rough when it is low a quart and sometimes the engine stutters.

NHTSA #11728856

The vehicle is experiencing a transmission failure that causes sudden jerking, hesitation, and loss of smooth acceleration when the engine reaches approximately 1,500–2,000 RPM. When driving under normal conditions on both city roads and highways, the transmission appears to slip or fail to properly engage or shift gears within this RPM range. When this occurs, the vehicle jerks violently and momentarily loses power, creating a dangerous driving situation. This happens while accelerating in traffic and when attempting to maintain speed. The sudden hesitation and loss of proper transmission engagement creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle may not respond properly to acceleration, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or crash, especially when merging onto highways or driving in traffic. This issue occurs regularly and has become progressively worse over time, indicating a potential transmission defect rather than a one-time malfunction. The problem was inspected and documented by Bill Luke Marana dealership in Tucson, Arizona. During their inspection, diagnostic data showed abnormal transmission input and output speed readings, confirming irregular transmission operation. The dealership marked the concern as requiring immediate attention. There were no consistent warning lights prior to the failure, despite the severity of the symptoms. The vehicle and the dealership diagnostic documentation are available for inspection upon request.

UNKNOWN - On Sunday, June 1 2025, whilst driving West Bound on the 408 tollway in Orlando, FL, the sunroof of my car exploded and shattered. I was driving with the sunroof and sunshade closed. I was driving approx 70 miles an hour when I head an explosion, then heard glass spidering and then the glass bits falling on to the sunshade and also traveling down the roof of the car. I pulled over as quickly as I could. Looked at the back of the car I wanted to make sure nothing else happened to my car. When I climbed to look on top of my car, the sunroof had shattered. I took a small video. I immediately exited the freeway, and took side streets home. The entire way, I could hear glass bits dislodging and either hitting the sunshade or traveling off the roof. On the 408, there were only two passenger cars in front of me (no big trucks) and a few cars right behind me. No rocks bounced off anything to hit the sunroof. Traffic on the East bound side was very light also. 1. Yes, car can be inspected. Garage kept since Sunday June 1.25. 2. Safety- if the sunshade would have been open, the sunroof would have shattered into the car, covering me with glass. 3. Appnt with dealer is Thur June 12.25 4. No- no one has seen the vehicle yet 5. This issue is concerning the sunroof. Hyundai released a TSB on the sunroof wind deflectors but not yet a recall even though so many people have been impacted by it. The TSB states: “ On certain Palisade (LX2) vehicles, the sunroof wind deflector may malfunction and cause damage to the sunroof mechanism. The sunroof may be inoperable and become stuck in the open, partially open, or closed position.” Mine became inoperable and would not close which could cause safety issues with wind noise, rain coming into the car and other debris

When driving at low speeds and going over bumps and speed bumps there is a thumping noise coming from the driver’s side rear. I’ve had the issue for quite some time now and there is a TSB on it for a faulty shock insulator. Between 2 different dealerships they have replaced it 3 times now and it’s doing it all over again. The last dealership has told me it is normal noise for the age and mileage of the vehicle.

The 2021 Palisades started riding very rough and bouncy. I made an appointment and took it to Edmond Hyundai for the repairs. They initially said that the rear insulator-strut needed to be replaced and they would order them. It took 10 days to get the parts from Dallas and made another appointment to get it fixed. The dealership took 6 hours to replace only the insulator and kept it over night to do the 4 wheel alignment which they would not cover as warranty per the Service Manager but it was need. I picked it up the next day only to discover that only the insulator was replaced and was told that the service tech test drove the vehicle and it's fixed. I drove out and tested the suspension, it took only 1 mile and back it went to get fixed.

The noise sounds like a pop that happens when turning or going over bumps. I was told by the dealer that the rear shock insulator caps needed to be replaced to the tune of $2000. I was not told there is a TSB for this issue. Unfortunately, this issue occurred when I was on vacation or I would have been able to have the car looked at before it hit 60,000 miles. The warranty might have covered this issue at that time. I researched this issue and learned of the TSB on this vehicle for this issue. I own a 2021 Hyundai Palisade and have experienced a complete transmission failure that I believe Hyundai had prior knowledge of and failed to address. Before my warranty expired, I contacted the dealership several times to report transmission symptoms I was experiencing. I was told that because no diagnostic code had been produced at that time, there was nothing they could do. Eventually, my check engine light came on with a P0741 code — Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance. When I brought the vehicle in, the dealer flushed the transmission fluid, which came out dark and contaminated with metal particles. After running the vehicle, the fluid was still dark, indicating active internal damage already in progress. The dealership has now told me I need a full transmission replacement at my own expense. I am the second owner of this vehicle with approximately 105,000 miles. I have since learned that Hyundai issued Technical Service Bulletin #20-AT-005H-1 specifically addressing the P0741 code on the 2021 Palisade, instructing dealers to replace the solenoid and valve body harness. This repair procedure was never applied to my vehicle despite my early report of symptoms. I believe this is a known defect that Hyundai has failed to escalate to a recall, leaving consumers like me with thousands of dollars in repair costs for a problem the manufacturer was already aware of. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider whether a recall is warranted for the 2021 Hyundai Palisade.

NHTSA #11705653

The vehicle experienced premature transmission failure, including torque converter clutch malfunction, hesitation, jerking at speeds between 30–35 mph and 50–60 mph, and drivability issues. Diagnostic indicators are consistent with widespread complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners. This failure presents a potential safety concern due to unpredictable vehicle response, hesitation during acceleration, and reduced control during highway driving. Dealer / Manufacturer Response: Hyundai Motor America requires an authorized dealer to submit a warranty or goodwill claim for review. The servicing dealer, Reliable Hyundai (Springfield, Missouri), has refused to submit the claim, preventing evaluation and resolution. This issue appears to be a known defect affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I am submitting this complaint to assist NHTSA in identifying patterns that may warrant investigation or recall action.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding the panoramic sunroof assembly on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle was purchased as a Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned vehicle in September 2023 with approximately 27,000 miles. The panoramic sunroof had only been opened approximately two or three times since purchase when the failure occurred. During normal operation, the sunroof wind deflector/visor malfunctioned and jammed inside the mechanism. This caused the pulleys and track assembly to bind and pull the glass panel out of position, damaging and breaking the sunroof track/mechanism. The dealer diagnosed the failure as a broken sunroof track/mechanism assembly requiring extensive repair estimated at approximately $4,000. This failure appears to directly match Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin 23-BD-003H-1, which acknowledges that the sunroof wind deflector may malfunction and damage the sunroof mechanism on 2020–2022 Hyundai Palisade vehicles. Hyundai issued this bulletin before I purchased the vehicle as Certified Pre-Owned. My concern is that this is a known recurring mechanical defect involving the panoramic roof assembly that could create a safety hazard if the mechanism jams, detaches components, shifts the glass panel unexpectedly, or causes the roof to fail while driving. The failure also caused the panoramic sunroof to become stuck open while driving. This created excessive rattling and vibration noise at highway speeds, which was distracting during vehicle operation and raised concerns about the stability of the sunroof assembly while in motion. Because the roof could not be properly closed or secured, the defect also exposed the interior of the vehicle to possible rain intrusion and additional electrical or interior damage. The sunroof was not abused or damaged externally. The failure occurred during ordinary use and after very limited operation of the sunroof since purchase.

The vehicle suffered a structural "seam leak" on the pressurized oil filter housing. This was verified by an authorized Hyundai dealer (Dealer XXX, Invoice #XXX). The failure is a structural crack in the housing component itself, not a maintenance-related seal or filter failure. This defect causes pressurized engine oil to spray directly onto the hot engine block while the vehicle is in operation, creating a severe and immediate fire hazard. Additionally, the rapid loss of oil and oil pressure poses a risk of sudden engine seizure or stalling at highway speeds, which could lead to a crash. Despite being a known manufacturing defect in a critical engine component, the manufacturer has refused to address the safety implications or offer a remedy. Vehicle experienced engine failure previously and received a Hyundai-installed replacement engine in February 2025. Replacement engine is now setting DTC P000A00 – Intake Camshaft Position Slow Response (Bank 1). Hyundai dealership master technician confirmed excessive variance between commanded and actual cam timing, indicating a VVT / cam timing failure controlled by oil and actuators. Hyundai is refusing to cover diagnosis and repair under replacement engine warranty and is requiring customer-paid tear-down despite fault originating within the engine assembly. Concern is for internal engine timing failure that may lead to engine damage or loss of power. This appears consistent with known Hyundai engine timing and oil control issues

NHTSA #11709745

My vehicle experienced a sudden and immediate loss of motive power due to a catastrophic internal engine failure, creating a severe road safety hazard. While driving and attempting to accelerate or merge, the vehicle exhibits extreme hesitation, severe misfiring on cylinder #2, and rough, unstable idling. This unexpected loss of drive power made the vehicle unpredictable and unsafe to operate under normal driving conditions, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicle is currently at the Hyundai dealership (Fox Ann Arbor Hyundai) for diagnosis. The dealer has confirmed and documented the following internal mechanical defects at only 86,000 miles: Compression loss in cylinder #2. Cylinder wall scoring and pitting. Evidence of blow-by and heavy carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. Misfire and rough idle. Oil consumption as a result of the cylinder failure. This failure is a premature mechanical defect, not normal wear. Failures of this nature (sudden loss of motive power due to internal engine defect) have been cited by NHTSA in other recalls and are known to increase the risk of a crash or fire. The manufacturer has acknowledged the defect by offering only 50% goodwill toward a repair, but this defect remains a critical, unresolved safety hazard that requires a full, safe engine replacement."

While driving the vehicle ahead brake suddenly. When I applied the brake pedal, it felt abnormally stiff/stuck and did not provide Norma breaking response. Th vehicle did not decelerate as expected despite immediate pedal input. At the same time, the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist system did not activate or provide any braking assistance. Due to the lack of effective braking, I was unable to stop in time and a collision occurred. The primary concern is a potential failure or malfunction in the braking system occurring prior to impact combined with the apparent failure of the automatic emergency braking system to engage. This created a situation where the vehicle could not be stopped under emergency conditions posing a serious safety risk

Pressed button to open glass sunroof and glass panel crookedly began opening with one side opening farther than the other until it stopped midway with a loud grinding noise. It stopped crooked in the tracks. It would not open. It would not completely close and the rear was left protruding above the roof line. There was nothing holding the back of the glass panel to the tracks. I could lift the back freely. A strong gust of wind or a passing truck could lift the panel. If the glass panel were to separate from the vehicle, a displaced panel could increase the potential of a crash or injury to other road users. I did not feel it was safe to drive it on the highway and took it to the Hyundai dealer where it sat until repaired on 4/7/2026 with redesigned deflector attachments, carriage bars and driving wedges. Hyundai TSB 23-BD-003H-1 describes this cascading failure of the defective air deflector breaking apart and damaging the sunroof tracks and specifies redesigned parts but fails to take in consideration that the glass panel is not held firmly in place once the connection between panel and tracks have failed. Prior to the sunroof’s failure I was unaware that a TBS had been issued. I had only opened the sunroof about a dozen times and received no warning of the failure. Subaru has issued a vehicle recall 26V346 which also results in a loose glass roof as a recognized safety risk including crash, fire, health, injury. Please encourage Hyundai to recognize the safety risk of a potential crash or injury to other road users of a loose glass sunroof as Subaru has and not as a warranty issue.

The vehicle would shut off when idling at lights or in reverse and have delayed acceleration after stops. It also would shut off when idling in park. I took it to the dealership summer-fall 2025 and they were too busy to investigate the issue because no alarms were present. The vehicle started doing the same thing and the check engine light came on March 2026. Now it has been in the shop for many weeks because of an fuel injector issue. The dealership service department says all 6 injectors need to be replace, but warranty won't cover them all. This appears to be a common issue with 2021 Hyundai Palisade vehicles and should be investigated for a safety recall.

I am writing to formally request reconsideration of Hyundai’s denial of assistance for the transmission failure in my 2021 Hyundai Palisade. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation that Hyundai vehicles are built to provide dependable transportation and that major components such as the transmission would last well beyond the current mileage and age of the vehicle. Unfortunately, I have experienced a significant transmission failure that has resulted in substantial repair costs. I have made every effort to properly maintain this vehicle and have acted responsibly as an owner. Given the relatively recent model year of the vehicle, I believe a transmission failure of this magnitude is unreasonable and may indicate a defect in materials or workmanship. I respectfully request that Hyundai review my case again and consider providing goodwill assistance, cost-sharing, or full coverage of the transmission repair. As a long-time consumer, I am extremely disappointed with the current outcome and hope Hyundai will stand behind its product. I would appreciate a written response explaining the reason for the denial and any options available for further review.

Whilst driving on the highway, the passenger rear quarter glass detached from the car and flew into the bushes on the side of the road. I heard a whistling sound coming from the inside of the car. I checked to see if one of the windows had been opened, yet they were all closed. I figured I would check the car when I got home to see where the disturbance was coming from. Yet while I was in the right lane, traveling at the speed limit of 70 mph, the passenger RR Quarter Glass Panel detached from the side of the car. The panel was lost in the bushes but most likely shattered on impact. This may be the result of a bad urethane bead when securing the panel during assembly.

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, Auto Merchants Inc. in Plano Texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely

While vacationing in Myrtle Beach with my family the vehicle alarmed and then progressed to critical failure of safety functions while traveling at approximately 55mph on Friday April 3, 2026. The vehicle was brought to Myrtle Beach Hyundai where it was eventually diagnosed and repaired as an Alternator issue that I have found to be common with this specific vehicle. The issues I have experienced with this vehicle go far beyond a typical mechanical concern. Over time, the vehicle has exhibited repeated electrical system malfunctions, including: - False blind spot collision warnings when no vehicles are present - Intermittent failure of the crash avoidance system - Loss of cruise control functionality tied to system faults - A broader electrical failure event that triggered multiple warning systems simultaneously Most concerning, these failures have occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an unpredictable and potentially hazardous driving condition. The loss and unreliability of critical driver-assist and safety systems directly impacts driver awareness and vehicle control, which raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to have this diagnosed through the dealership network while under warranty, no definitive root cause was identified, and the issue has persisted. This suggests the possibility of a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated component failure. Additionally, I have found that similar complaints involving electrical system irregularities and cascading warning system failures have been reported by other owners of this model, further supporting the concern that this may represent a known or emerging defect pattern. Given these factors, I do not believe this situation should be categorized as routine. Instead, it warrants review under the lens of: - Vehicle safety risk - Potential defect trend - Failure of critical driver-assistance systems during operation This vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

When I push on the brake the car starts to tug. Feels like it wants to turn off. Happened several times after I got a recall checked. 2 weeks ago same thing was happening and my car all of a sudden turns off. The lights on the dashboard turned on and the emergency brake engaged. I was able to turn the car back in after 3 tries. 6 days later I was driving 50mph and my car suddenly changes shifts on its own. It changed to neutral and then my car shuts off and again the dashboard lights turn on and the emergency brake engages. Again turned on after 3 times. Now the dealership is telling me that its my injectors. And that I had 10% fluid in my gas tank. That will not cause my car to shift gears and 10% is an excessive amount that would mess my car up

A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the RPMs but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil indicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on Reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.

After doing some research and learning Palisades had a history of exploding sunroofs, I worried that continuing to drive the car in a compromised condition (even a covered film to keep wind and rain out) would trigger the sunroof to do the same, putting my grandchildren in danger. After taking it to the dealer and having them confirm a TSB issued by Hyundai to address this very issue, I also learned it would not be a covered expense. This symptom directly matches NHTSA Recall 23V-180 / Hyundai Campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (Fitzgerald Hyundai in Gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in May 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never performed properly or did not actually resolve the underlying issue.
