Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Acura Integra, Civic Type R, CR-V Hybrid, CR-V, HR-V, 2022-2025 Civic, Civic Hatchback, 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S, 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell EV, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Hatchback Hybrid vehicles. The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle.
Consecuencia reportada: Difficulty steering can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedio: Dealers will replace the worm gear spring and redistribute or add grease as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2024. Owners may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are SJS, MJU, QJT and VJV.
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023 Civic Type R vehicles. The driver's seat frame may not have been welded properly, which can cause the seat cushion frame to break. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, "Seating Systems."
Consecuencia reportada: A broken seat cushion frame may not adequately restrain the driver during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedio: Dealers will replace the front driver seat cushion frame assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 10, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is TDY.

The contact stated that because of the failure, the steering wheel failed to return to center. The contact was forced to manually adjust the steering wheel to the center to resume normal driving. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective rack and pinion gear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500.

The contact stated that while turning the steering wheel to the left and then attempting to straighten the steering wheel, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rack and pinion gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The engine is making a knocking noise, but there’s no code or check engine light. The noise is more pronounced when the vehicle is idling and when you apply and release the brakes. Start the car, let it warm up on idle, open the oil cap, apply the brakes, and then release them. The noise becomes louder. It could be the vacuum pump, but Honda has never addressed this issue.
