Sticky steering input when turning steering wheel, almost feels like the steering wheel slightly locks when doing turns. Most notably to the right.
NHTSA #11682122
When driving at highway speeds steering sticks. Steering wheel does not move without more effort than usual. Being unable to make small adjustments freely means I must constantly drive with two hands in order to drive straight forward. When I noticed this I searched Honda recalls and found the exact same issue is being recalled for later models. This is a safety related issue because it prevents me from centering the vehicle in the lane.
NHTSA #11674269
I purchased a 2019 Honda Civic LX July 3rd 2025 I noticed that the steering front end didn't feel right so I brought it back they still to this day the dealership has the car I cannot drive it on the highway because the steering goes to the left goes to the right I have to keep two hands on the wheel I came close to hitting a tractor trailer cannot drive over 50 mph without it being out of control right now it's at Honda dealership and they're saying they're not sure what's wrong after seeing all the complaints I notified them that I felt that's what the problem was the steering box rack I do not feel safe or trust this car I'm trying to get the dealer to buy the car back
NHTSA #11674737
While driving my 2019 Honda Civic Sport, the steering wheel frequently sticks or feels like it slips when making slight adjustments or turning. This is especially noticeable at highway speeds and during low-speed turns. It requires additional force to correct the steering, leading to overcorrection and a delayed return to the center position. The issue creates a safety concern as it impairs precise vehicle control and is most concerning while making corrections at highway speeds. Multiple owners online are reporting the same symptoms, and there are indications that this may be caused by a faulty EPS gearbox or steering rack. Honda has not issued a recall, and dealerships have not provided a lasting fix.
NHTSA #11671537
My steering is "sticky" and is difficult to control. It's concerning for me and my passengers, as well as others on the road. I researched what "sticky" steering could mean, and I found Honda has an active recall for this exact issue; however, my 2019 isn't included. I visited a local Honda dealership (Tameron Honda in Birmingham, AL), and they confirmed that my vehicle needs an electric rack to fix my steering issue. However, American Honda will not replace it. Honda knows this is an issue but is refusing to take care of it, putting the safety of myself and all other drivers on the road at risk.
NHTSA #11668841
The steering on my 2019 Honda Civic has gotten progressively "sticky" when driving at all speeds but it is worse at highway speeds (50-75 mph). I have experienced several close calls lately when the steering wheel sticks when turning into a highway curve and causes my car to veer into the oncoming traffic lane. I took my vehicle into the local Honda dealer service department and they told me they would have to replace the entire steering gearbox at a cost of $4,250.00 due to a manufacturing defect. They said my car is out of warranty range at 54258 miles and there is no recall from Honda to pay the repair cost. I cannot afford that excessive cost and now am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle.
NHTSA #11667993
When driving on the highway (over 40mph) the steering wheel sticks making small corrections difficult. It feels like once the steering wheel is left in an orientation for more than 1 second something grabs the steering column and holds it. I’m sure it’s supposed to be a “feature” but it causes me to have to put in effort to make the small driving corrections and they end up looking like I’m swerving inside my lane.
NHTSA #11665937
Steering is sticking similar to other model recalls. Increased friction, will stick in turn and not automatically release , you have to manually turn it back. Taken it to two mechanics who have notified us of recalls with the same issue. Is currently at North Park Honda and is attempting to bill my insurance. My son starts college this year and we're worried it may cause an accident.
NHTSA #11669351
Jerking/sticky steering issue. I have heard many other drivers discuss the same with 2016-2023 Civics. Essentially anytime when I am driving, my car may jerk any direction and I have to re-adjust. This makes driving EXTREMELY dangerous. I have noticed similarly to other drivers that whenever my steering jerks in one direction when I turn it back, it makes a knocking noise (like knocking on wood). Very concerned about this issue as I don’t have any money to fix it.
NHTSA #11661022

NHTSA #11660601
Steering wheel sticks while driving. there is a recall for this on later model cars but not on my year. Dealership wants almost $5,000 to fix this. it is absolutely a danger to drive.
NHTSA #11656243
The gear in gearbox is sticking causing sticky/jerky steering. There are recalls on other vehicles but not this one specifically even though it's having same issue.
NHTSA #11662674
Steering wheel is sticky when driving at highway speeds, requiring extra force to turn the wheel to the left, resulting in abrupt left turn motions causing inadvertent deviations into the lane to my left. This has been happening consistently for the last 4 months. There are no warning messages.
NHTSA #11655554
Unknown. Steering seems to stick when making small adjustments while driving straight causing the car to slightly jerk and oversteer the wanted adjustment. This causes me to constantly have to steering and adjust the steering while driving in a straight line. This seems to be a known issue with the steering rack not lubricating properly based on internet forums.
NHTSA #11651626
This vehicle is impacted by the “sticky steering” issues that led to the recall of 2022-25 Model Year Honda Civics. This gearbox issue is NOT restricted to just those model years.
NHTSA #11650025
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 71,900.
NHTSA #11659956
Steering sticks in certain position to the left and has to be forcefully reentered (there's also a clunking noise that the steering makes when this problem occurs). Problem began about a year ago and I have taken vehicle in to be repaired multiple times. I believed it was a tire issue at first, however, after a few weeks ago I was assured that the tires was not the problem. This feature is incredibly dangerous as when wheel is forcefully recentered sometimes you haev to overadjust and you might almost hit someone near you. Extremely dangerous and I hope you guys take this issue seriously. I have visited many other threads and I see that in the state of florida alone theres about 10 other people who have the SAME EXACT issue.
NHTSA #11646949

The contact was informed that the rack and pinon needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 56,064.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the steering wheel was inadvertently seized. The contact also stated that while steering to the right or the left, the steering wheel felt loosened. The contact stated that the steering then became difficult to turn. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

Issue with sticky steering. Car is unsafe to drive. Steering sticks as you are driving making it hard to turn. A issue Honda has with many of there civics but will do nothing about tell someone is serious injured. I called honda and told them about problem. but the will do nothing. So when I’m driving some would call it sticky steering where I have to correct the steering constantly this happens at slow speeds and way more noticeable and scary at fast speeds like I don’t even want to take it on freeway I have gotten a couple alignments done like 6 to many they say it’s spot on so why does my steering still have an issue.i don’t even have to move the wheel I can slightly move it left or right and it’s swinging that way bumps and bad roads are also the same i basically can’t drive straight and I don’t know why it’s never had the issue before I say till bout 70 or 80 k miles I’ve took it to Honda and they said there’s no way to fix it unless the whole camber or rack was replaced probably both I have kids and have to commute on a busy road I’ve almost hit people because the car can’t stay straight also when pressing on the breaks it will steer in either direction and have to fix that as well
NHTSA #11638688
The steering rack has failed due to a manufacturing defect. This is also an issue with the newer civics as Honda has admitted. This problem was confirmed by an independent service center. It can be dangerous at higher speeds, the steering wheel is difficult to turn and I have to jerk it to regain control of the vehicle. Going around bends is also difficult to maintain control since it is very difficult to make precise movements of the steering. No warning lamps or messages at the time of failure.
NHTSA #11658848
The steering wheel will "stick" when in the left hand position at speeds of 50mph or greater, requiring greater force to center. This has not been reproduced by the dealer.
NHTSA #11655115
Steering is sticky and jerky when driving, causing driver to overcorrect left or right when making slight adjustments to center. Especially noticeable with highway driving. First noticed in 2024 and problem continues. Dealer said Honda is aware but no official recall issued as of yet.
NHTSA #11651632
Steering wheel sticks.
NHTSA #11622181
The steering is "sticky" leading to ever-changing steering effort. At times, so much force has to be applied that overcorrection occurs. It decreases the safety margin when driving and applying corrective steering to prevent lane departure or collision. Luckily, I have not had any accidents occur yet. Still, I can easily imagine that it contributes to a collision if and when the margin for an accident is sufficiently narrowed. There are no warning lights or messages provided by the car for this issue. When I asked Honda about the issue, they said I would have to pay a fee to even have the vehicle looked at. They also stated that it would cost over $3000 to fix it. They said that they could not replace it for free because it was not under warranty and there was no recall for the issue, just a TSB. I am surprised that this is still not a recall given how apparent a safety risk it is. Frequently I have to jerk the wheel for it to break free and respond to steering input. Unfortunately, Honda is not being more proactive about replacing this component. Please let me know what else I can do to help progress this to a recall. Thank you
NHTSA #11631201
Steering wheel sticks and is more noticeable at speeds over 50 mph which results in the car feeling jerky in curves and could cause the vehicle to swerve out of lanes or off the road.
NHTSA #11605887
The steering on my 2019 Civic is sticky when making small adjustments to the left and right while driving at both high and low speeds. There is a creaking like noise when turning the wheel to the right while accelerating and while stationary. The stickiness of the steering wheel while driving makes controlling the vehicle difficult. The stickiness of the steering wheel also makes adjustments while driving dangerous as the car jerks to whatever side I am trying to move toward due to the stickiness of the wheel. This issue has been confirmed and recalled in Honda Civics from 2022- onward, but it appears that this recalled issue is occurring in older models, such as my 2019 Civic. No warning lights or messages occurred before this issue. My vehicle was brought to the Honda dealership where they were able to replicate the same noise and stickiness. The CV axle and sway bar links were replaced, but that did not fix the issue. The mechanic stated that the steering rack could need to be replaced as this was a common issue with Honda Civics.
NHTSA #11620051
There is a wide majority of Honda owners with cars ranging from 2016-2022 all reporting the same issue of steering sticking resulting in overcorrecting and crashing your car. My 2019 civic today tried to kill me by locking the steering while driving down the highway with a construction wall that the car jerked into. The dealer responded to a request for information about this issue by telling me it will be a $200 diagnostic fee before I can the told anything and that recalls are all they can talk to me about without the fee. This issue is well documented here This is a dangerous car. Please help! See: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The steering system on our 2019 Honda Civic "sticks" when operating the car. When driving on the interstate, even a small adjustment to stay in one's lane requires a significant force. This causes the car to over-correct once the steering breaks free. At times the force is so high that the lane keeping assist system (LKAS) feature is unable to provide the necessary force to make the correction. Also, when at high speed going around a curve (like on a flyover ramp going from one interstate to another), the wheel is very difficult to move. Typically, a car's steering will tend to move back towards driving straight. This tendency doesn't happen at all. If I don't return the car to straight with significant force, the car will continue the curve and would eventually drive off the road. The steering has been inspected by Honda technicians and they recommend replacing steering gearbox and tie rods. The car has 65,000 miles on it and replacing the steering at this age seems irregular. While I have the latest date I drove the car listed, this is a persistent problem and has been an issue for several months.
NHTSA #11597866
Steering wheel sticks with left turn. Once on the Highway the steering wheel is tough to bring back straight requiring constant micro readjustments even when going straight. When bringing the steering wheel back to the center from a left turn at slow and highway speed, the steering wheel clicks, notches, and catches making my car unsafe to drive on the highway especially.
NHTSA #11595348
When driving on local streets under 40mph steering sticks in position and has to be forcefully recentered. It also makes a clunking sound when turning the steering wheel at low speeds. At highway speeds when making slight adjustments steering wheel sticks, causing me to overcorrect which in turn jerks the car back and forth. This issue starts after driving the car for about 10-15mins. I have tried numerous DIY solutions such as turning off Lane Assist etc. I will be taking the car to Honda soon. This has been going on for about a year now.
NHTSA #11631778
When making a left turn/curving left or even driving straight on the highway the steering wheel is sticking and or gets stuck turning left. To get out of the stuck portion of the steering wheel requires extra force that feels very unsafe as it pops or jolts. This is very unsafe because while in a left turn when the steering gets stuck instead of naturally straightening, an overcorrection in steering is made when it pops/jolts out of the sticky spots. This a constant issue having to fight the steering wheel driving straight down the freeway, and is quite scary during or coming out of a left turn. When parked or not moving the problem still occurs. My safety and others is put at risk when the sub average driver is unable to make the proper adjustments when the steering gets stuck causing me or whomever driving this car to veer into whatever the steering wheel is stuck pointing at. The problem has been reproduced. NO warning lamps or messages have appeared. I recall this starting about 6 months ago.
NHTSA #11595950
The steering sticks in a center spot while driving. You have to really pull on steering wheel which causes it to oversteer and is very dangerous especially in curves. This happens everytime the car is driven on high speed about 50 miles per hour. This issues happened since 6 months ago, I noticed It gets more sticky. My car has 45,218 miles now. It shouldn't occur this issues at this mileage. I checked Honda recall has same issues of 2022~2023 Honda civic. I believed they used same steering rack with same issues.

I have a 2019 Honda Civic and I am experiencing “sticky steering” in which there is already a recall for in the new models. I took the car to the nearest dealership and the problem was diagnosed and the replacement procedure and part is the same as the newer models. The dealership informed me there is no recall for my car even though there have been multiple cases. It is very unsafe while driving on highways or interstates and has almost caused accidents.
NHTSA #11588691
Steering wheel feels 'notchy' and 'sticky' especially when in the 12 oclock position. Making minor corrections is difficult especially at highway speed.
NHTSA #11589717
1. Steering component is malfunctioning. It is available for inspection. 2. Difficulty steering on highway speeds and simple and minor adjustments causes sticky steering, which I have to add force every time to keep my vehicle in a straight line. 3. I have not yet brought the issue to a dealership, but I will have the vehicle inspected to further identify the issue. The problem has been an issue with other civic models as well. 4. Same as question 3. 5. No warning lamps.

The fuel injector on my 2019 honda civic si went bad at 58,000 miles, which is over a $2,000 repair. Not only is this a widespread problem with Honda,..they KNOW about the fuel injectors being faulty and have discontinued the part, instead they have chosen another supplier to manufacturer the injectors without issuing a recall. This is blatantly a known defected part and Honda should immediately compensate/replace affected models. I took my car in this morning for a recall. For the fuel pump. It took the dealership very little time to get my car out which was strange for me because originally they told me it would take 4-5 hours. Following the recall I needed gas since I was told to have a little under half a tank. I was on empty following the procedure. While I was pumping gas I had my hand help on the pump. There was not automatic pump enabled. My car keep taking the gas which was weird and then suddenly I saw gas leaking from my fuel point. I stopped the pump instantly. I soon called Honda but there was no pick up for a long time so I began driving a 3 mile trip from my gas station to the dealer. I started with 365 miles of gas remaining. Once I got to the dealer I had 355 miles remaining. Never in the years I have had that car have I seen my car consume so much gas especially on such little trip. Arrived at Honda. They are very nonchalant about the issue and I do not want them to rush the fix and create more damage and a bigger issue

my car has one recall part . It say :American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2016-2021 model year Civic vehicles. The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers. Over time, the low-density impeller can deform and interfere with the fuel pump body, rendering the fuel pump inoperative. Reached out to Hill Country Honda, San Antonio Texas since the inception of this recall, approximately 2 years ago, and when I received Honda notifications to contact dealer for scheduling. Received another notification from Honda, today, November 4, 2024 and Service Advisor at Hill Country Honda stated they do not have the part and do not know when they will be receiving and to k=just keep checking in to see if they have the part. This is unsafe, disapointing, and just bad business practice from both Honda and Hill Country Honda.

Recall on fuel pump; multiple dealers do not have the replacement piece, they say “you can but don’t call other dealers.” I made an appointment over the phone to fix said recall, finally a dealer didn’t say they were out of the part. I show up. It’s a joke. No parts available. “We’ll send a notice in the mail” They aren’t “helpful” Honda people. They physically told me, you have to wait for a problem to happen with this recall and maybe we’ll prioritize you. Basically it’s a lottery if this will be fixed, and it’s only most likely if you get hurt. They’re waiting for accidents to happen to HAVE to fix the cars. Excuses do not save lives, taking cars with issues off the road does. It’s may 19th 2024 and this recall allegedly occurred 12/18/24

Hello, I received a recall notification for my 2019 Honda Civic in May 2024. The recall notice states the fuel pump module may have been an improperly molded impeller. The recall is dated May 2024, I called the Markley Honda dealership in Fort Collins Colorado where I purchased the car and was told they did not have the parts yet. It is now mid October and I have called numerous times including yesterday to be told they still do not have parts. I am very concerned that this has not been fixed in a timely fashion. In the recall it states the car could stall during driving increasing risk of crash or injury. Honda fuel pump had a recall back in 2020-2021, which was replaced months after. Now, two years later my car has completely stalled out on me in the middle of driving, not once but TWICE. In the middle of the road. Both incidents happened when I had gas in my car, full battery, etc. and would not turn on until again (both times) until I manually put gas in it. Accelerating is extremely weak, engine is sputtering constantly. Brought it to Commonwealth Honda after the first incident, no answers. After having this happen a second time, i brought it back a second time. I was told there is nothing they can do as they can't see the car stalling in person. I have reiterated to both technicians and management that this car is NOT safe to drive due to a faulty fuel pump, and I am being told tough luck. I would like this problem and these incidents documented in the event I do end up getting injured from this faulty part they are refusing to fix. It has happened two times in the last month, and i'm sure it won't be the last.

I received a recall notice for the fuel pump module. The Safety Consequence in the recall notice says the following: An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024. I should be entitled to a loaner car until the part becomes available and is fixed. If my car stalled while making a left turn in an intersection could be deadly. I called the Honda Motor Company and they reiterated the same information in the recall notice. So, no help there.

I received a recall notice about the fuel pump in February 2024. I have been calling Ed Morse Honda to schedule the replacement and they haven't had the parts. I just received a notice from Honda that states the following: "This notice is being sent to inform you that these parts are now available and you can bring your vehicle in for a free repair." I called Ed Morse Honda again today, Nov. 14th and they informed me that they don't have the parts and do not know when they will get them. This is a serious fuel pump issue according to the Honda recall notice that said "can result is serious injury or death.

My 2019 Honda Civic has been under recall for months now. I wonder why it's taking so long for Honda to come up with a resolution. I called the Honda Recall/Customer Service Line a few weeks ago, and they said that the part was unavailable and that I should talk to my dealer to get an inspection to rule out any other causes. Over the past six months, I've been having on-again, off-again issues with my car, specifically after fuel-ups at gas stations. Initially, I thought this was an issue with the fuel quality, so I reported it to the Arizona Department of Agriculture, who told me the gasoline was acceptable. I've had to use fuel system cleaners and slightly higher-tiered gas as a scapegoat measure. Considering that this recall can cause issues with the fuel pump module and result in stalls, increasing the risk of injury and death, I would have hoped Honda would have come to a solution by now.

The damage was to my rear windshield on my 2019 Honda Civic LX. The incident happened on March 19th 2025 at 5:30 PM while at a stop light. I heard a big bang or pop and initially thought that a big rock had been thrown at my car and assumed it smashed into the body. I immediately got out of my car and inspected the body quickly on my side only, fearing the light would turn green soon and I would need to resume my drive. I saw no damage. The left turn light became green and I proceeded to turn left. As I checked my rear view mirror, I noticed that my rear windshield was shattered, being held in place by the tint film. I was confused and did not know what happened. When I arrived at my destination, I inspected the glass and found no signs of an object striking the glass and causing damage. I went to the internet and looked for any incidents similar to what I experienced. I found that other Hondas have "Popped" and "Shattered" rear windshields in the past. The temperature on the date of the incident was a mild 72 degrees and sunny. The last time I used my rear defroster was a week ago. I did not use my AC/Heater on the date of the incident. I plan to see my Honda dealership and make arrangements with Honda or Safelite to get the damage repaired.

I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue I encountered with my vehicle. On September 9th while driving, the sunroof of my car spontaneously shattered without any apparent cause or impact. I did not see or hear anything that could have hit the sunroof to result in such damage, and I was driving under normal conditions. This is an alarming safety issue, and I would like to understand how such a failure could occur. Subject: Formal Complaint - Premature AC Evaporator Failure in 2019 Honda Civic Vehicles National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE Washington, DC 20590 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the premature failure of the air conditioning (A/C) evaporator in my 2019 Honda Civic EX. The substantial repair cost, exceeding $2,100, leaves me deeply concerned about a potentially widespread defect within this model's A/C system. My dealership informed me that other crucial A/C components, such as the condenser and compressor, are covered by an extended 10-year warranty. However, the evaporator, is not. This disparity in coverage seems unjustified, given the significant number of similar complaints I have found online. A discussion thread [XXX] {Honda forum} ) features numerous Honda owners reporting evaporator failures, with a Honda mechanic's post highlighting the issue's frequency. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation of Honda's renowned reliability. I face significant financial hardship within a year of purchase. A previous substantial engine wiring repair further burdened my situation, even leading to my full coverage insurance being dropped. Now, facing the steep cost of the evaporator repair, I am left with expensive liability-only insurance. Based on my experience, the widespread online reports, and the extended warranties on other A/C components, I have strong reason to believe that this model's A/C system is inherently faulty. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue and consider the potential need for a recall or extended warranty coverage for the A/C evaporator to protect other Honda owners from similar unexpected expenses. I have attached the repair estimate for your reference. Thank you for your attention and dedication to vehicle safety. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

No collision mitigation light warnings came on. The car just slammed on the breaks!! Dealer service manager told me over the phone that unless a code comes up, they really can’t diagnose the issue. I believe this is a design flaw and not an issue with my car that can be addressed by the dealer. Steering began to "stick", especially at highway speeds and when trying to keep car centered in lane, causing frequent overcorrection and difficulty maintaining lane control. During warming months, especially when driving at highway speeds, the steering becomes "sticky" and creaks when turning the wheel left and right. This issue has been noted in the 11th generation civics with a recall issued, as well as 2016-2018 Civics. The 2019 also suffers from this same issue but no recall has been issued to date. This problem creates an unsafe driving environment where I feel like I could lose control of my vehicle on the highway. I have brought it to the attention of my local dealership many times with no resolve. They suggested an EPS steering rack placement with an out-of-warranty repair (Almost $3500). Communication with Corporate Honda found no sufficient proof there is an issue repairable due to manufacturer defects.

The vehicle steering wheel feels stuck in position while driving, it releases the initial sticking feeling when I force the turn and it continues to feel stuck in place every time the steering doesn’t turn to either side and I try to turn again it requires extra force to release the stuck in place feeling. I took to dealership and asked if there was a recall and they told me only on newer models but not on my car model. The initial steering stuck in place causes delay when I need to steer quickly in traffic, I believe t’s a safety concern. My car only has 39137 miles on the odometer.

The steering sticks when making minor adjustments. Could potentially be dangerous if needing to make a quick turn.

Rear windshield spontaneously shattered while I was driving on the highway. There was no debris or collision. The car has never been in an accident or subject to any internal or external physical force or damage.

Honda won't cover my failing Evaporator for the AC in my 2019 Civic with only 43,000 miles. The AC helps defrost my windshield, it is a safety concern not to mention the scorching heat we get in the California summers. It is absurd that this part is failing already and Honda has admitted to numerous issues throughout the AC systems of these cars but claims no responsibility for the failed evaporator. They do this because it is a labor-intensive part to replace and it is unfair to shoulder this issue on the consumer.

While driving the dash showed a "12 volt battery charging system problem." Continued to drive to a safe location roughly a mile down the road and while enroute all the error lights illuminated and proceeded to state "Tire Pressure Monitor Problem" "Brake System Problem" "Brake Hold System Problem" "Power Steering Problem" and a couple others I don't recall. I lost my power steering while driving and my wipers proceeded to stop working, in a downpour. Contacted AAA who came and ran diagnostics which showed the alternator was dead. I then had to have my vehicle towed instead of driving it to work.

I brought my car to the dealership Honda North at 382 Newbury Street in Danvers MA on 6/5/25 to repair NHTSA Recall number 23V-858. The vehicle was returned to me on 6/7/25 at which time I was told the interior would have a strong fuel smell for 1-2 days, but that would disappear. After 4 days, the fuel smell worsened and the "Check Engine" light had come on. On 6/11/25 I returned the vehicle to Honda North. When I picked up the vehicle several days later, the fuel odor was minimal, and the check engine light was off. Today [XXX], the check engine light is back on. I plan to call Honda North to schedule what will be my 3rd visit to Honda North for this safety recall repair, which clearly is not being repaired properly, and putting me in further danger of crash or injury. The stirring wheel consistently sticks and jerks in speeds 35 and over. The steering wheel constantly has to be adjusted to drive in a lane. It is unsettling situation.
NHTSA #11674422
I was driving straight going 35mph on a 2 lane rd when my steering wheel starting making a weird noise & almost was shaking. The steering wheel then locked up to the left & wouldn’t move. This caused my driver side tire to go into the curb, & at this point my steering wheel was spinning in circles & all I could do was brake. After bumping off the curb I then was thrusted back over to the right lane (due to having no steering control) where I came to a stop grazing another vehicle. My insurance performed diagnostics on the vehicle & determined the steering rack housing assembly part failed, causing the accident. There was no damage at all to the vehicle that would indicate this part was damaged as result of the incident, therefore they are calling it “pre existing damage” even though Honda did a multipoint inspection on my car 08/03/2024 (not even a whole 3 months prior) that did not mention a single steering problem. It was ultimately determined this failure is what caused the incident. Upon further research I have found millions of Civics are recalled for this issue but not my year of the vehicle. However, I have found countless stories exactly like mine with steering failure all regarding the 2019 Honda Civic. I am now without a vehicle, insurance refused to pay for the failed part, and I have reached out to Honda over 10 times trying to get in contact with someone about this to no avail. I truly was terrified for my life and feel this needs to be addressed because as previously mentioned, there are countless other 2019 Honda Civic owners with the same horrifying stories. This puts not only owners at risk but all other drivers.

My car is not starting properly due to the recall. I reached out to my dealership and they basically told me there is nothing they can do due to the part being on recall. I am a single mother to a [XXX] daughter and with this being my only form of transportation I cannot afford to get a new vehicle or miss work due to not having a vehicle. I am worried my car will stall in the middle of the road with my daughter in it. I am upset the dealership told me there is nothing they can do when it is primary not my fault there is a recall or parts. I understand but this is unfair to costumers for the company not having back up plans in this type of situations. I cannot continue paying for a car that is broken that is out of my control. Is there a different route we can take for this issue ? A replacement ? A refund ? Anything. I don’t mean to be rude. Just very frustrated and upset. My emergency braking system goes off constantly without anything in front of me. I almost got rear ended on a highway because my car came to a dead stop with nothing in front of me or even on the sides of me. It does this daily. My car also has been having a delayed start. It sounds like it almost does not want to start but then starts. Both of these issues have been affecting other Hondas including regular civic sedans but excluding my model and have recalls issued.

My car started sounding its alarm at 2:30am on its own. After shutting the alarm off and letting it run, I turned it off and entered my house. It repeated five minutes later. I went to drive the car later that day and the battery was inoperable and the acid has neutralized or evaporated. I replaced the battery and the issues continued. Dealer said is was a fuse box issues. Due to cost, I brought the car home. Consulted another mechanic and it is an issue with the Body Control Module. It takes multiple tries to start the car, the fob doesn't lock the car, and it will go into accessory mode by itself.

Since April of 2024, my steering has been sticking when making the slightest of turns. It has progressively gotten worse. I initially thought that I needed power steering fluid but that did not correct the issue. This sticky causes my vehicle to veer to the left and right abruptly into other lanes. I am fighting to keep the vehicle straight. I can hear the sticking noise constantly due to the lack of lubrication in the steering gearbox. I am fearful that I may cause an accident and injure myself or others when driving and I would like assistance in having the dealership correct this issue. This issue also causes the sensors for my ABS, Adaptive Cruise control, lane departure etc to malfunction and alarm.

When I'm driving on the highway, the car sometimes loses its grip, the brakes slip, and it's hard to control the steering wheel. The brakes are a big issue. I'm scared of driving this vehicle. Plus, I have had AC problems ever since I bought the vehicle; the air is warm.

Brakes failed on vehicle almost causing me to collide with vehicle in front of me. Brakes Plus in Tempe checked Brakes and found them to be good. All the lights on the dash flash when attempting to start the vehicle. Vehicle will not start sometimes. The vehicle also leaves the lane when going over potholes and bumps on the road and handles badly.

I received a notice from Honda dated "February 2024." The notice states that "the fuel pump module may have an improperly molded impeller. Over time the impeller can deform and cause the fuel pump to become inoperable . . . an inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." Honda acknowledges the fact that there COULD be an issue with certain of their vehicles, but later states that "[t]he replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024." Knowing that Honda wants me to drive a possibly defective vehicle for at least 6 more months while KNOWINGLY allowing me to do so with the "increas[ed] . . . risk of a crash or injury," is extremely concerning. I contacted American Honda Motor Co., Inc. customer service and the representative informed me that she has "made a case" for me and that, "if anything happens, just bring it to a dealer." She could not provide me adequate answers to my follow-up questions. Specifically, I am concerned that, if it does happen, why bring it to a dealer? Honda has explicitly stated in their recall notice that the "parts needed to repair [my] vehicle are not currently available." Additionally, suppose, as Honda cautions, the "risk of a crash or injury" occurs and I do not have the opportunity to make it to a dealership? I, any passengers, or any other driver on the road, Honda operator or not, could become deceased as a result of an "inoperable fuel pump." I also drive a Kia Stinger and, as your agency might be aware, this issue was front and center with Kia a few months ago. Unfortunately, my Stinger fell victim and thankfully, I was in my driveway when it occurred. I am not comfortable driving this 2019 Honda Civic given this information and my past experience. This behavior and "notice" from Honda is evidence of their negligence.
