The dealer did not fix the recall item on my truck as posted here. The dealers service department confirmed with me on multiple occasions that the recall was not fixed as annotated, but since the dealer was paid for the recall (because it was posted to the system) I am still on a waiting list for them to coordinate how to do the recall work (that was already paid for, what?). I would just like the recall work to be completed on my truck and the notification corrected on your database that the work was not done when input, editing to correct the date of service

While addressing the Headlamp Flicker recall N242468880 another problem was caused. The Drivers side headlamp is always on high-beam There is no way to turn it off. I have had two incidents where oncoming traffic has crossed the double yellow line. The dealer states that the entire headlight mist be replaced and it is on backorder with no expected date of availability. This 2024 GMC Canyon is blinding oncoming traffic and is a risk to myself, my passengers, and oncoming traffic. I have a case open with GM and it has accomplished nothing. GM case number 9-14098737984

Turn signal not working properly and GM has not issued a solution to dealerships. Issue: When you use your turn signal to change lanes or turn onto a new street, the turn signal will flash to let drivers know. However, when you turn off your turn signal manually or the truck turns off the turn signal automatically when you turn the corner, instead of the turn signal stopping, it starts flash in the opposite direction by itself and eventually stops. This can be confusing for drivers and could result in an accident if someone thinks you are signalling and then go in a different direction.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, he observed the headlights flickering. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V673000 (Exterior Lighting); but the vehicle had already been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.

i have had this truck 3 months and already had software problems and now I had to drive to Hammond LA after dark and the headlights were blinking, going up and down. I was passing an 18 wheeler and the light beam went up and i almost went under the 18 wheeler. God was with me for sure.. i have not received any info on the recall and went by the dealership where I bought it and they sAid I would have to wait until I get a notice in the mail. so now I cannot drive at night and I need to. what is a person suppose to do?
NHTSA #11619250
Headlights flicker on and off
NHTSA #11618230
When the right hand turn signal is cancelled following a right hand turn, the left turn signal flashes to indicate a lane change. This would falsely indicate intention of changing lanes.
NHTSA #11625037
The turn signal is activating in the opposite direction. After completing a 90 degree right hand turn, when the turn signal deactivates it will turn on the left turn indicator for 3-5 seconds. This only happens when making right hand turns and I have been able to replicate it on multiple occasions. My concern is that other people will see the indicator and assume that I intend to change lanes when my intention is to continue straightforward. This could cause someone to move in front of me or turn into my lane of travel. I just purchased the vehicle a week and a half ago. I plan on making an appointment with the dealership within the next week to have the issue evaluated. This was first noticed about 1 week after taking ownership. I purchased the vehicle on September 13, and noticed the issue on September 20.
NHTSA #11616322
Headlights flicker about once every minute. it gives the impression that i am using my brights for oncoming traffic and has caused other drivers to "flash" their brights at me and i get flashed after passing other vehicles. I am concerned that at one point the "flicker" will just shut off and leave me totally in the dark driving country roads. i drive mostly on rural highways. it would be impossible to drive without lights. Also the flicker is causing other drivers to potentially "road rage". I took this to the dealer last month. GM has not come up with a fix and has told the dealer not to do anything at this time. problem has occurred since deliver in early June
NHTSA #11613834
Lights flicker at random times
NHTSA #11613898
Headlights flicker at night. GM is saying there is no fix and no ETA. It happens periodically when headlights are on. Not a one time issue
NHTSA #11613156
Headlights flicker every few minutes when on. Can be distracting to driver and other cars on the road at night. Seems to be an issue for several people with these new 2024 trucks but GM has no fix yet.
NHTSA #11613688
Constant headlight flickering. Lights sometimes shut off totally. Almost caused (2) accidents due to this safety issue! Why will the NTSB not make GM file a recall for this issue? Does someone need to be killed first? Do your job and make GM do theirs!
NHTSA #11612715
The headlights and day time running lights flicker intermittently.
NHTSA #11612760
Lights flicker intermittently causing a distraction and limiting visibility when driving at night.
NHTSA #11612827
Headlight Flicker when they are on
NHTSA #11615324
Headlights intermittently flicker. It causes other drivers to focus on my vehicle. It also cause me to focus on the issue more than actually driving the vehicle. It could cause issues with road rage. To my knowledge GM is aware.
NHTSA #11612657
Vehicle headlights flicker on/ off momentarily at random when travelling at night. The flickering is NOT the automatic high beam function. When flickering occurs vehicles ahead may believe the lights are being flashed at them. GM issued a repair order to replace headlights but has since stopped performing replacement because problem has not been solved.
NHTSA #11612195
Headlights flicker often and usually one side at a time, sometimes one side is out for a second or 2. Drivers in front of me think I'm flashing them and get upset, it's annoying to keep seeing it every 1-2 minutes and makes driving at night miserable. Started the night of delivery. Dealer notified and awaiting call back.
NHTSA #11612003
headlights flickedr/flash randomly and briefly regardless of if they are manual on/auto on coming traffic thinks i am flashing them GMC Seems to be aware of the issue but no resolution as of yet
NHTSA #11612056
The headlights in front of truck are doing a flicker here and there. It is happening by itself, during normal operation. It kind of looks like I'm flashing my high beams when it happens. People may think I'm flashing my high beams at them when I'm not. I think other people are having the same issue with this GMC truck. I have not contacted GM waiting to see if they will publish something, since it seems like they are now aware of the issue?
NHTSA #11612177
While driving at night the headlights flicker for some unknown reason. I have seen where many others are having the same issue.
NHTSA #11612223
Headlights periodically turn off and on while driving automatically, randomly, and without warning. Causes other drivers to become confused, disoriented, or enraged. Drivers think they are being intentionally flashed or harassed and respond with brake check or moving to another lane and becoming visibly distressed. This is a new truck, with less than 500 miles, and no warning lights are issued.
NHTSA #11611985
My GMC Canyon has an issue with flickering of the headlights at night, which sometimes results in one side or the other going completely out. I'm part of several Canyon forums, and this seems to be an issue with most 2024 Canyons. The flicker is more of an annoyance, as I can still see, but I do believe it blinds oncoming drivers when it happens, as they flash me. Obviously headlights going completely out is another issue. I have not had both go out at the same time, but many others have. The flicker happens every time my headlights are on. The total outage has only happened once. I did contact the dealership where I purchased this, and they said this is a known issue with no resolution yet. They sent me TSB #PIT6203, which states there is a known issue with the "issue internal to the LED controller that is part of the headlamp assembly". This TSB initially had a fix of replacing the headlight assemblies, but was updated in July to instruct dealers not to do that, as it doesn't fix the issue.
NHTSA #11612200
Headlights Flicker Randomly. Looked on forums and it seems to be widespread. People think your flashing your lights at them.
NHTSA #11612060
My headlights flicker. The issue is problematic because other drivers think I'm flashing my lights at them. There are no warnings on the dash the vehicle is brand new. I took it home last friday. It creates a driver distraction and is unsafe. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they advised a software update was coming. When? My problem is not resolved.
NHTSA #11612082
The headlights when turned on flash/flicker from while driving at night. I see they have service bulletin but this is hazard as it temp brights other drivers as well as causing a weird issue while driving.

NHTSA #11611405
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Canyon. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front headlights were activated; however, the front headlights failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that the front headlights continuously flickered from high to low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was visible and documented. The contact was informed that there was no remedy for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 225.
NHTSA #11611862
My headlights keep flickering immerdiently, it doesn't matter if they are on auto or manually. I called the dealership I purchased it from and they said there is nothing they can do until they receive a resolution from GMC. This poses a safety hazard at night. Not only that, people keep thinking I am flashing my lights at them.
NHTSA #11612544
Headlights flicker intermittently causing a safety issue when driving at night which could unintentionally signal to other drivers to proceed when you are not expecting or headlights could go out completely at night
NHTSA #11610728
The head lights flicker when driving at night.
NHTSA #11610793
When I make a right turn, after completing it, my left turn signal flashes three times. This is very confusing to other drivers around me and I’m concerned could cause an accident. This has been occurring since I purchased the vehicle. The dealership advised that the headlight flicker repair would likely fix it, but it did not.
NHTSA #11618854
The headlights flicker when driving at night. Every minute they turn of and back on quickly. The cars in front think I am flashing them and they pull over to the side or slow down. This started at 200 miles.
NHTSA #11610377

Headlights flickering
NHTSA #11612431
The headlights have an occasional flicker.
NHTSA #11609173
The headlights flicker on and off frequently (every minute to two minutes). This put my safety at risk for not being able to see the road clear and causing a acident. It puts other drivers safety at risk because they get flashing lights pointed at their windshield and can cause and accident. It is also a safety risk because other drivers assume the flickering is being done by me the driver on purpose and I am concerned it will start road rage or another driver to escalate thinking I am road raging at them. Dealer is aware of the problem. No warning lamps. Started with 40 miles on the truck.
NHTSA #11611285
The vehicle, since it's purchase, has a persistant flickering occuring with the entire headlight when the main headlights are on. The problem doesn't seem to be an issue when the DRLs are only being used. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership to be looked at but when they discussed the issue with the GM even they couldn't figure it out. This can pose a serious safety issue if the lights go out all together at night on a dark roadway.
NHTSA #11614136
Headlights constantly flicker and causes dangerous condition driving at night
NHTSA #11608886
Front headlights, marker lights, and drive lights flicker off and on while vehicle is running and while driving at night.
NHTSA #11609286
Headlights flicker every couple of minutes. Very concerning driving at night. Incoming traffic thinks I’m flashing them. Not good these days. Contacted dealer. They are aware there is a problem. They stated that GM has not come up with a fix yet. To me that answer is unacceptable.
NHTSA #11608791
Headlights flickering on and off at night.
NHTSA #11608493
Headlights flickering
NHTSA #11609362
Headlights flicker independently randomly. Does not matter what position headlights are in (auto, on, highbeam). GM looked and confirmed issue but said to not replace any modules or other parts until they can redesign the headlights. Happening on all 2024 GMC Canyons. Issue during daytime driving could lead to road rage. Issue at night is worse obviously because it is very distracting to oncoming and other drivers. Police could think you are trying to warn other drivers of their presence which would lead to a citation but mostly the distraction and irritation to other drivers is going to lead to an accident or worse. GMC needs to recall these Canyons and get a fix immediately.
NHTSA #11608153
The vehicle headlights flicker off and on intermittently, sometimes within a few seconds of each occurrence, other times several minutes between flickering off and on. The flickering is distracting to the driver of the vehicle and to other drivers as well as oncoming drivers flash lights back. The dealership has been notified and they are aware of other complaints on 2024 GMC Canyon vehicles. This is a known issue among other owners and apparently GM as the issue has been voiced on social media sites related to the Canyon and on Canyon related group forums.
NHTSA #11608186
Headlights flicker once every couple of minutes or so. This could very well indicate me flashing someone to turn or go in front of me. I have seen multiple internet threads of this same issue happening to 2024 GMC Canyon owners. The car has 500 miles on it and I've noticed it since I've had the vehicle. No warning signs or anything. Seems like it is computer related.
NHTSA #11610359
My 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X picked up on Saturday 8/10/24. First time driving it at night I kept noticing a flickering of the headlights. I confirmed after reading multiple complaints online about the headlight blinking on many GMC forums. I have a video of it and have shown it to the dealership service department. They are ordering a lighting control module for the headlamp assembly. Very concerning that a headlight malfunction with less that 20 miles on the vehicle. And very noticeable at night almost looking like you are flashing your headlight at drivers in front of you.
NHTSA #11608319
My headlights keep flickering on and off. And that has to be dangerous
NHTSA #11610351
The issue involves the headlight assemblies flickering frequently. The whole headlight assembly will randomly turn off and on, one at a time typically. It will cause temporary loss of sight down road at night. I have also noticed other motorists flash their brights at me thinking that's what the flicker was, so it's causing disruptions to other drivers as well. GM is aware of the issue but has no fix in place and no timeframe for the fix.
NHTSA #11611983
Headlights intermittently flicker when on sitting still or driving. This happens from a couple of times a minute, up to 5 or 8 times a minute. Other drivers are flashing their high beams at me because of this flaw. I can see a road rage incident occurring because of the issue.
NHTSA #11613336
Headlights flicker every five seconds at night. Could be a hazard to oncoming traffic.
NHTSA #11607937
Headlights flicker on and off randomly. Anywhere from every 30 s to a couple of minutes.
NHTSA #11608699
As I've heard many others report, my Canyon has the headlight flicker problem that seems to be plaguing these vehicles. Driving during the night, the headlights will periodically go out every couple of minutes. It is very brief (less that 0.5 second) but very distracting and cannot be safe for other vehicles on the road.
NHTSA #11609111
The led headlights flicker randomly while driving. This is very distracting to me and the vehicles in front of me. I just purchased the truck Friday (8/9) and noticed it on my way home from the dealership.
NHTSA #11607870
Headlights have an intermittent flicker that happens every 2 to 3 minutes. This flicker is a complete shutdown of the headlight for a fraction of a second, but long enough to notice and have other people in other vehicles notice as well. It is repeatable, and has been repeated by the dealer. It puts my safety at risk. Dealer stated and produced a bulletin that states they are aware of the problem, but do not have a fix for it yet. Bulletin is PIT6203A.
NHTSA #11611139
Head lights flicker on and off both sides in a rapid succession. Lasts 2 seconds maximum then works for a few minutes before flickering again. This has happened since 50km of owning the car.
NHTSA #11608113
Headlights blink intermittently when driving. The issue occurs every 2 min or so. The blinking may be construed by other road users as an indication to move over or other unintended confusion. Issue has been documented in a video.
NHTSA #11608263
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the headlights were flickering. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V673000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 100. Parts distribution disconnect.
NHTSA #11616678
Approximately every minute while driving with the headlights on, they will turn off/flicker for a split-second. This makes it seem like I’m flashing my lights at other vehicles, and also makes the lights turn off while driving for a split second which is distracting. This has happened since the vehicle was purchased new and it happens any time the headlights are turned on.
NHTSA #11607042
Headlights consistently flicker. I have had other drivers stop me and warn me. Happens every 1-2 minutes on both sides. GM dragging their feet with a repair. I am hearing multiple customers with the same issue. Please put pressure on GM to correct this issue now!
NHTSA #11607176
Headlights flicker on and off constantly.
NHTSA #11608465
Headlights Flicker / GMC knows there is an issue with this / I will be making an appointment with dealership to get it fixed based on document attached
NHTSA #11606606
Headlamps flicker intermittently, every 2-5 mins. Common problem and well documented/discussed on owner forums. There was a tsb issued by gm, bit it was rescinded shortly thereafter. No fix is currently known. Headlight flickers cause other drivers to flash their headlights back at you, as well as other aggressive and unsafe behaviors by other drivers.
NHTSA #11606920
The headlights flicker constantly at night. They very quickly power off and back on appearing to other vehicles as if we are flashing our lights. This is a common issue among the 2024 gmc canyons in the facebook owner groups. Its a safety hazard and could also provoke other drivers.
NHTSA #11606931
Both headlights intermittently flicker on and off during operation. This is distracting for the driver while driving at night, and also distracts other drivers both ahead and oncoming. Dealer has reviewed the issue and is awaiting direction from the manufacturer for best way to resolve. No warning lamps or fault codes occured. The issue began within 30 minutes of purchase leaving dealership.
NHTSA #11608351
Headlights continously flicker. Took vehicle in and is a known issue with no fix.
NHTSA #11606293
The headlights flicker independently every few minutes. This occurs no matter what setting the headlights are on (automatic or not). This has been an issue since purchasing the car new in May.
NHTSA #11606294
The headlights on the truck turn off for a split second and continue to do so randomly. If I had to guess they are turning off and on every 5 minutes. This causes people in front of me to think I am flashing them and the bigger concern is if they were to not turn back on again. The dealer I brought it to said that GM is currently working on a software solution to figure out the problem. Researching this issue online I found that there is a TSB already filed (PIT6203) for this issue and it sounds like there is some success fixing the issue by swapping out the headlights but does not always fix the issue. GM has not come out with an official solution for this widespread issue yet.
NHTSA #11609617
Both headlights flicker every 1-2 minutes, does matter if switch is on automatic or on.
NHTSA #11609841
Purchased vehicle 8/3/2024 and on way home experienced headlights were flickering. The problem continued and is so bad approaching vehicles will flash their bright headlights at my truck. At a 4 way stop other vehicles think I’m flashing them to go. This flickering makes it impossible to drive safely at night. It’s not only a distraction to me but other drivers as well. I brought the vehicle back to the GMC dealer and was told they were aware of the problem and have no solution to correct it. This is an unsafe vehicle to drive at night and is a distraction to other drivers. The only response from GM is they are aware of the problem.
NHTSA #11610585
Since buying this truck new in July of 2024 the Headlights when on, will every few minutes both left and right headlights along with DRLs flicker/blink off and back on again. headlights will flicker or blink Randomly as you drive or when parked the headlights will turn off for a second then come back on. oncoming drivers are being flashed from flicker thinking they are being signaled by flicker. pedestrians or cyclists think the flash or flicker is signaling them to proceed and that the truck will yield when maybe their not even seen. other drivers think their being flashed from behind with the headlights which could lead to road rage incidents. possible the headlights will stay off when they flicker, rendering the driver unable to see during night driving. this is a very Dangerous malfunction of a very important safety component of the truck.
NHTSA #11606077
My headlights flicker or blink without warning and I feel that they could fail while on the highway. I purchased my truck on the 1st of August 2024. Gm had issued a service letter for the problem on the 30th of July 2024 but they still sold me truck without mentioning the defect.
NHTSA #11607402
Headlights flicker every minute or so. Sometimes every few seconds. Makes it appear that I’m flashing oncoming traffic or those I’m following. Appears GM has known about it for months but no fix yet. PIT6203A
NHTSA #11608161
When driving at night or anytime for that matter, and the low beams are engaged, the whole light housing will momentarily shut off and turn back on. This can cause safety issues, especially since it looks like you are flashing people. It happens randomly and affects both the driver side headlight and passenger side headlight. It will only stop if you turn the entire headlight housing off, or only have the daytime running lights on. I am unable to attach videos. This issue seems to affect 2024 GMC Canyons manufactured after April 2024.
NHTSA #11608344
LED Headlamps flicker off and on and occurs repeatedly every few minutes. Occurs when vehicle is moving or parked. Occurs in a controlled lighting environment meaning it is not due to the auto-headlamp sensor being triggered by light or darkness changes. There are no error or fault warning messages that display on the dash or control center. No human involvement triggers the flickering. The issue occurs even when remote start is used and the vehicle is unoccupied. I have located dozens of other owners with the same issue with a similar build date from Spring 2024 through June 2024. GM documented the issue with Document ID 6691954 #PIT6203: Headlamp or DRL Flicker or Flash (July 16, 2024). Hazards include the possible signs of headlight catastrophic failure rendering the driver unable to see the road and surrounding vehicles as well as other drivers being unable to see you that could result in injury or death. Vehicles that are being trailed when the flickering occurs interpret the action as being indicated to rush and make way for the approaching vehicle resulting in road rage actions such as brake checking or other forms of violence that can result in injury or death. Pedestrians may interpret the flicker as the driver yielding to them resulting in the pedestrian entering the path of a moving vehicle resulting in injury or death. Oncoming drivers that are being flashed from the flicker are distracted or blinded in a way that could result in injury or death. Please escalate this safety issue to a formal recall due to severe consequences that could result from the faulty headlamps.
NHTSA #11605976
LED Headlamps blink off and back on in a fraction of a second. Seems to be related to low beam setting. Seems to not be related to auto-dimming functionality. Seems to be a narrow build date window from late Spring 2024 thru June 2024. Occurs when vehicle is moving or parked. Can be replicated in daylight by manually turning headlights on in the control center. GM documented with Document ID 6691954 "#PIT6203: Headlamp or DRL Flicker or Flash (July 16, 2024) Possible hazards include oncoming drivers being flashed from flicker. Oncoming drivers thinking they're being signaled by the flicker. Pedestrians or cyclists thinking the flash or flicker is signaling them to proceed and that vehicle operator will yield. Possible that headlamps will stay off when they flicker, rendering the driver unable to see during night driving. Please consider escalating this issue to a formal recall due to dangers outlined above.
NHTSA #11607803
Headlights keep flickering/turning off and then back on
NHTSA #11608188
The headlights flicker on and off. Possibly to stay off. Other pedestrians think I’m singling them to cross in front of me when I’m not. Other drivers get angry because they think I’m flashing my high beams. This is a huge safety issue

The headlights randomly flicker.
NHTSA #11608472

NHTSA #11608838
The headlights keep flickering. Oncoming traffic thinks I am flashing them for some reason. It’s very unsafe to drive this vehicle at night due to this issue. I would like the issue fixed asap.

The headlights while driving will flicker completely off. This happens during the daylight lights are on and at night when main headlights are on. This is very dangerous and concerning while driving at night when I have to drive on country roads where the headlights are vital. This issue also creates unnecessary confusion with other drivers as they are under impression I'm flashing my lights at them.

Headlights flickering while driving. And it is quite noticable and distracting to other drivers. I feel this could cause accidents. I have been flashed by upcoming drivers due to them thinking I turned on my bright lights. And this is constant at 2 to 5 minute intervals. The dealer can't fix cause GMC doesn't know how to fix. And neither GMC or the dealer is going to contact me when there is a fix. The dealer said call every 2 weeks and they will check on line for any updates for the problem.

Coolant leak caused by known manufacture defect in upper hose assembly causes coolant to drain and engine to overheat. CEL only comes on when coolant is almost gone. GMC refuses to cover the known issue after 36k miles.
NHTSA #11722976
Upper radiator hose connection to radiator is faulty causing leak of coolant. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. Truck began to run cooling fan at full speed in the middle of winter with no warnings of high heat or low coolant. After two weeks, check engine light finally cut on to indicate low coolant flow. Coolant reservoir was subsequently checked and found to be completely empty. It is apparent this reservoir had been extremely low / empty for at least two weeks with no warnings. Without proper warning and leaking coolant, truck could have overheated. Should this had happened in dead of summer, truck could have very well overheated with no warning. The problem was investigated and confirmed by dealer as leaking coolant at the connection of the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Was quoted $983 to replace the hose. No warning lights appeared until issue had been ongoing for over two weeks. A quick search of "GMC Canyon Upper Radiator Hose" will reveal many identical occurrences of this issue. This is a safety hazard / design flaw that GM is not acknowledging and is putting the burden on the vehicle owners for their own issue.

Coolant Leaking at 22K miles, smell of coolant, check engine light on and off 2X's. Coolant evidence on driveway and in engine cabin. Known condition for GM Model. No parts available for replacement. No recall for issue.
NHTSA #11722659
There are widespread reports of the O ring seals on the radiator and heater hoses failing and causing coolant leaks. These leaks are significant enough to render the vehicle inoperable and with no cabin heating or cooling. This could lead to life-threatening situations in adverse weather conditions. It could also create dangerous roadside failure situation in heavy traffic, particularly on interstate highways. Dealers are aware of the issue and are currently repairing vehicles under warranty. However some dealers are telling owners that the cooling system is not part of the engine and drivetrain, and therefor is not covered under the original factory warranty if the vehicle has exceeded the initial bumper to bumper warranty limits. Dealers are also telling owners that parts are on backorder due to high demand, and that repair wait times could take weeks. The vehicle is unsafe to operate with a known coolant leak. Video of leak (another owner) here. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Upper radiator hose attachment is leaking due to faulty rubber gasket. This comes up across GMC Canyon groups on Facebook 10 times a day. It is happening to ALL of them mainly pre 2025 on 3rd gens. Part is on back order at all GMC dealers due to so much volume of issue. Happening as early as 10k-20k miles on brand new trucks causing over heating issues due to coolant leaking out. Hopefully a recall for the part is done before engines start blowing.

Upper radiator hose leaks where it connects to radiator. 40k miles and my truck has no coolant
NHTSA #11707894
2024 GMC Canyon Elevation trim 4x4 with 31,000 miles on it always had maintenance every 5k interval. I noticed an upper radiator hose leak significant enough to require a decent amount of coolant and decided to take it in to GMC to get it repaired. Mind you this repair is almost $1,000 to get repaired with the hose itself only costing $148. It's disappointing to have such a new truck and have these kinds of problems and upon research there seems to be several others with the same problem relating to an O ring in the upper radiator hose. Considering the truck is routinely serviced more frequently than required I see this as an issue for someone to run out of coolant and possibly be stranded on the side of the road if gone unnoticed and needs to be properly addressed asap.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was rattling abnormally. The check engine warning light was briefly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the vehicle was test-driven; however, the failure was not identified. The failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed as needing a rear intermediate steering shaft, and a retest was performed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer, where the vehicle remained under investigation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,491.

Propulsion of vehicle. Truck lost power as I was trying to pull into traffic at an intersection. Yes, it was confirmed by the dealer; truck was returned after 3 incidents. GM has been inspected the truck. Yes: check engine light immediately came on, and a comment then stated onscreen: "caution. Your vehicle has lost power and is operating at a reduced capacity". First occasion, truck was approx 6 months old. Second was 1 month later. Third and dangerous incident occurred June 11th 2025. Dealer keeps saying the truck is OK. Failure to propel keeps happening. Service supervisor tells me truck needs a new module, but GM won't approve it. Truck is still at the dealer, and issue has been escalated twice. Truck still at dealer.

This truck was purchased brand new on [XXX]. Noticed lights are intermittently flickering (every 2-4 minutes) when driving at night on [XXX]. We took vehicle in to dealership (Jessup Automotive) on 8/23/24 where is was purchased and work order stated, "Engineering is aware of this concern and is working towards a resolution. It is no longer recommended to replace the headlamp assemblies as it has been found that the issue is present in the replacements currently stocked at CCA. This PI will be updated when this direction changes." Other vehicles think you are blinking your lights at them. We took a video. Also, there are other vehicles of people having same issue on [XXX] . The vehicle has been inspected by dealership. We are taking to another GMC to get second opinion. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms before the failure. Owners on the website mentioned that changing the headlight assembly worked. They stated change module or headlights did not work. This problem has been going on at least since since May 2024. We have paid $40,000 for a truck that we are worried about driving at night. Waiting for call back from GMC now who we called on August 23, 2024 in which they stated they would call back within two business day. I have video, however it won't attach. I am reporting a driver distraction safety issue involving the infotainment system in my 2024 GMC Canyon. The vehicle displays a mandatory “Focus your attention on driving” warning every time the vehicle is started, requiring user acknowledgment. When using the built-in Google Maps navigation without subscribing to GM’s paid Connected Services plan (while tethering to a personal cellphone hotspot instead), the system displays a modal warning stating that a connected services subscription is required. This warning appears whenever cellular connectivity is briefly interrupted, even for a few seconds (such as when driving through a known cellular dead spot). The warning overlays the navigation screen and requires the driver to manually press a “Dismiss” button to continue, even while the vehicle is in motion, requiring the driver to take their eyes off the road to focus on pressing the dismiss button. This behavior creates a safety contradiction: The system warns drivers to focus on driving, then forces manual interaction with the touchscreen during active driving. The interruption is triggered by transient network conditions, not driver action. The behavior does not occur if the driver pays for GM’s subscription service, indicating it is a business-rule enforcement rather than a technical or safety requirement. The repeated appearance of this warning during normal driving conditions constitutes an unnecessary and avoidable distraction. It diverts attention from the road and navigation, increasing risk rather than reducing it. I believe this design violates established human-factors safety principles by introducing nonessential driver interaction during vehicle operation and should be reviewed as a potential safety defect related to driver distraction. We just got home from a trip to West Texas and had to press the dismiss button no less than 100 times while driving through areas with marginal/intermittent cell service. It's a huge driver distraction.
NHTSA #11706486
The vehicle does not have a manual switch for the headlight control. The only way to control the headlights is through the digital control interface on the infotainment console panel. The headlight controller button is so small that a person has to take their eyes off the road for a long time making it a very unsafe condition. If a deer was in your lane you could not turn your lights on and off quick enough to maybe un shine the deer so in would move while honking your horn. It is just totally unsafe as a hole when you’re not looking down the road while driving. If you had the switch you can always feel around for it much safer than taking your eys off the road while driving.

While driving on the highway, the sunroof of the truck shattered. There were no other vehicles nearby at this time. No one was hurt and nothing hit the vehicle to cause the sunroof to shatter. The vehicle was brought to the dealer for inspection/repair. This incident occurred on 3/4/2025. There was no rain or snow occurring at the time and temp outdoors was around 40 degrees. In addition to this incident, a piece of trim came loose on the vehicle that was repaired. 16,000 miles driven and my replace brake sensor light came on the dashboard. I took it in to get looked at and was told the Front Drivers Side has 1 brake pad showing a life of 5 while my other pads all showed a life of 9/10. I was told that most likely something stuck inside the brake pad itself causing it to wear unevenly but I don't drive anything but highway and paved roads. I looked around other forums and multiple others are complaining of the same issue. I contacted GM and they told me brakes are a wear item. The dealer told me they aren't sure how it happened, but this isn't right to be replacing brakes on a brand new vehicle I've only driven for 10 months. Multiple others are saying the same thing in GM/Colorado forums.
NHTSA #11690532
I first noticed the brakes squealing in August 2025 at 15,000 miles. The dealership said I needed to resurface the front rotors. I mistook this a coating and brake debris, but it was actually the rotors warping. By 21,000 the vehicle is pulsing heavily when stopping. I went back to the dealer and this time they told me all 4 rotors are warped. GM denied coverage of the pads and rotors. Normal driving, no collisions or towing.
NHTSA #11727764
Break monitors for front breaks have dislodged and caused damage to rotors and pads. Dealer claims this is normal wear! Breaks shimmy when breaking in all directions and squeak when backing. I travel to my work requiring mountain passes during inclement weather. The most important safety method while traveling on snow and ice is smooth steering, acceleration and breaking. With my font breaks shimmying, I am concerned for my safe control of the vehicle. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

While driving a two lane road the adaptive cruise control detects oncoming traffic and improperly slows down or breaks unnecessarily. Most of the time the vehicle breaks so hard it will jolts me forward in my seat. I fear another car will be behind me and this will cause an accident. I have had my vehicle in the shop two (2) times to repair the issue. The dealership/service department has been able to replicate the issue by having one of their technicians drive the vehicle. The front camera has been replaced twice and I have been told every time they plug a new camera in the trucks interior and exterior lights "go crazy and flash". GM's response to this issue is "set the gap to mid" or simply "shut it off". They refuse to see this as an issue. Doing my research I found that the 2023 GMC Canyons have been recalled due to the same issue. I have brought this information to the sales department. However due to not being able to find this on General Motors website I have been told by the dealership/service department, and owner of the dealership that the information I found on NHTSA is insufficient and they can not go off this information.

Heat shield over drive train not installed properly. While driving since purchased I’d hear a metal reverberation / clunking sound that seemed to be under the truck. I even had it in for oil change service w/ dealer and no mention of finding anything. On Sat 3/15/2025 I took it back to dealer with the heat shield that was torn from the undercarriage over the drive train, the service person said it did not to appear to have been fastened at the factory before delivery to dealer/me. They were going to re-install it, however it was damaged; and I told them that was not acceptable to put a broken part back on the truck. I still don’t know what other damage has occurred to the vehicle due to the rubbing/clanking around while driving the 12,000 miles I have on it. They told me it was safe to drive and just come back when they get the part in. I have photos and videos; the dealer took the damaged heat shield from me and I don’t know what they did with it. Risk level to other drivers is the heat shield could have flown off truck while driving; to me inside the vehicle could have obstructed drive train and caused damage/accident, and other damage I’m still not aware of. Yes, dealer advised: Harnish GMC Puyallup, WA 253-840-6300 No fix yet. No warnings in vehicle or on any electronic displays. We were traveling not once, but twice at a high rate of speed (75/80mph the legal limit) the vehicle gave one message: Service power steering next message: reduced acceleration. The check engine light turned on, the truck itself jerked and we almost lost control of the vehicle (both times) on the highway. We were thankfully able to pull over and pull to a complete stop. The vehicle was still on, it still ran but I saw an autozone close by both times and received a code for the check engine light. The dashboard both times lit up like a Christmas tree on both occasions before spazzing out. We have taken the truck twice to a nearby dealership and they were able to service and “fix” the problem however they said that the first time, and here we are a second time. The dealerships we took the truck to are aware of all the codes (2 pages worth the first time) but we never received paperwork on what was fixed. The second time we are now going to pick up and hopefully receive paperwork on what was completed. My spouse was driving and myself and my daughter were in the vehicle when the jerking happened with the steering wheel. The vehicle is not safe how can I we be driving at the legal limit and lose control of our vehicle. We were right next to an 18 wheeler with a trailer and multiple vehicles on the road each time. Where to begin... As I bought my first truck, literally within 10 days after buying the GMC Canyon 2024, the car is shaking uncontrollably on the highway... 35 MPH max speed, extremely dangerous situation, 8 AM on a busy Watterson Expressway in Louisville, KY. I was so scared I was going to crash and potentially get hurt or worse. They told me "they had never seen this happen to a Canyon before" which is obviously a lie. The car was serviced for 21 calendar days, and now my lights are spotty and I can't drive my car at night. I got this truck [XXX]. There was no communication on when it was to be ready. There are issues with a lot of minor things as well like the navigation systems. I have logged every call with the Dealership, Courtesy Buick GMC in Louisville as well as summarized every point of contact, and with very spotty responses and the manager, Frank, wont respond to my emails and was extremely uncooperative as I asked to trade it in as I was genuinely concerned about my safety and he told me absolutely not. The back seat is not secured tightly. When the bottom seat is down, and should be locked, there is 3-4 inches of play when lifting up on the bottom seat. It does not seem to lock properly. I told the dealership about it, and they compared it to another vehicle on the lot that did the same thing. They did not seem concerned, but if a latch is defective, anyone in the backseat could be harmed if the latch fails during an emergency stop or accident.

Headlights flicker constantly. While being extremely distracting and unsafe while driving, it also causes other driver to think I’m flashing them. This leads them to flashing their high beams at me when oncoming and pulling over to let me pass when in front of me. Also, after I complete a right turn, my left signal flashes 3-4 times. I brought it to the dealership and they said they suspect a “software glitch” but that GM hasn’t determined a cause or solution yet. It appears to affect models built in May/June 2024 and on. I was also told that the display screen in the truck can be/may become affected, which is the only way to control the lights in the vehicle. They could not provide me with a loaner or replacement and said to keep driving the vehicle as-is until GM can come up with a fix, despite repeatedly agreeing with how unsafe it is. I have filed a report with GM as well. I was told to “make noise and maybe they’d get it fixed sooner.”

Headlights flicker all the time regardless of speed Radar cruise control will slam on the brakes for no reason even when there's nothing in front of me. (Seems to happen more at night) Blindspot monitoring will randomly turn on for no reason
NHTSA #11610331
Been experiencing an intermittent issue. After completing an indicated right hand turn, the vehicle will signal a left turn for 3 blinks. This is a safety issue because the vehicle is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended.
