While driving, randomly and intermittently the vehicles drive mode will change on its own, usually requiring the driver to slow down to allow for a 4X4 shift, as called out by messages on the dash and an audible warning. This has happened multiple times and ford cannot replicate this issue. I was going to just replace the drive mode selection knob but as it turns out it's on national backorder.

NHTSA #11745023

When driving truck especially in rolling traffic truck has hard time downshifting and clunky and lunches as transmition tries to figure what gear to be in. It is an intermittently happening but now evolved to completely dropping out of gear goes into neutral were you can rev engine without truck moving foward. This has only happened twice both time as I was slowing down to make a turn and the trying to Accelerate after turn truck would go limp. Dealer could not replicate issues and could not find any issues advised to return is issue consistent

NHTSA #11679678

Vehicle has multiple drive modes. Vehicle will attempt to change drive modes while moving without any input from the driver, i.e. using the drive mode control to change drive modes. Results in vehicle attempting to shift into four-wheel-drive or other drive modes while vehicle is in motion, even at highway speeds.

Transmission on this brand new vehicle with less than 3500 miles is bad. Safety issue as well. Periodically you will go to press accelerator and nothing will happen. The truck will fall out of gear and will not accelerate randomly. I've had this incident occur when trying to get into the highway which is unsafe and I've had this happen on standard roadway as well. This is a big safety concern because of vehicle won't go into gear and accelerate then it could cause rear collision from other vehicles on the road. In addition to this if you drive the vehicle, turn it off, and then a few hours later go to drive the vehicle again the transmission slams into gear so hard that the entire truck jumps. This Ford Ranger has huge transmission issues and after looking online many owners of this same vehicle have this problem yet Ford won't do anything about it because the maintenance light doesn't pop up on the dash despite the obvious and dangerous issue happening.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while attempting to leave a parking lot while on an incline, the transmission was shifted into drive(D); however, the vehicle began to slowly reverse. The contact quickly proceeded to depress the brake pedal and shift back to park(P). There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that there was no failure found with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V164000 (POWER TRAIN); as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

NHTSA #11652847

The vehicle has had hard down shift at slow speeds. Sometimes so hard that i thought I got rearended when stopping. Sometimes you can feel it but not horrible, other times it's bad! I've been trying 6 months to get Coggin Ford to look at it and they keep putting me off.

NHTSA #11734739

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while reversing, the differential indicator independently moved, and there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission. The abnormal sound could be heard for a short while, and then the sound dissipated. The contact stated the sound could be heard intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,200.

NHTSA #11695500

When stopped or turning from a stop I will lose acceleration for 3-4 seconds at such time I will almost over accelerate when it does catch which I almost will lose control especially in icy weather. I have no codes have taken to dealership for repairs 4 times they can't find any issues. The issues appeared day 1 asked them to look at it they said it was fine.

one brake rotor has warping issues from faulty made parts, truck only has 11,000 miles and should not have an issue with brake rotors.Espically just one

NHTSA #11744377

I have had the truck for 2 weeks. Three times I've almost rearended a car in front because of a braking system that doesn't stop the truck quickly enough. The pedal will travel 6" at times before it engages. This is very dangerous especially when braking when travelling around curves or round a bouts. I've taken the vehicle to two dealers and an independent brake shop. Dealers say it's normal. Independent brake shop warned against driving the truck. Town and Country stated that the pedal going to the floor is normal. No warning prior to this incident.

NHTSA #11683910

The brake pedal is extremely soft and routinely travels to the floor during normal driving conditons. It also catches at various levels. It is impossible to tap the brakes to slow the vehicle down when rounding a corner which has led to several scary incidents and near misses. The truck is currently at Crossroads Ford in Indian Trail NC for 3 weeks. It has been there once before and 3 times at Town and Country Ford in Charlotte. Both dealers said this is the way the brakes are supposed to work. I was also told by a service manager that this is due to the electronic braking system and they are reluctant to spend time on troubleshooting because Ford cut their renumeration. A service Field Engineer stated that the brakes were in spec and traveled 2 3/4" toward the floor. This is a subjective observation as every person uses different foot pressure. The gas pedal is at 3" off the floor and the brakes are 5". The brake pedal passes the gas pedal and many times, my foot hits both pedals. My inspection with a ruler shows the brake pedal going 1 1/2" past the gas pedal. There were no warnings the first time this happened. I have taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who bled air out of both rear brake lines which helped. This repair lasted 3 months and now the issue is back. I've been told by independent mechanics that the problem is in the ABS module (which pulls the pedal to the floor when activated).

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while trying to purchase a diamond back bed cover, upon further investigation, it was found that the vehicle was missing the load box reinforcement bracket. The missing bracket might cause the structural performance of the bed to fail. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

NHTSA #11675055

2024 Ford Ranger Trucks made in Michigan between January 4, 2024 to July 15, 2024 do not include the load box reinforcement bracket. Without this bracket installed, if the owner were to place more than 88lbs onto one or both bed side rails the bed could crack, warp, bend, or break. If operators of this vehicle are not aware and do load the bed side rails over 88lbs, this could pose a safety issue to the driver or other drivers on the road around the vehicle. Ford has not notified all owners of affected vehicles, and in my case I found out my vehicle was affected out of sheer curiosity and reading forums with posts of other owners whose vehicles are also affected. Ford is currently not willing to address the issue without additional cost burden on the vehicle owner.

[XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] 3/12/2025 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE Washington, DC 20590 Subject: Complaint Regarding 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor VIN [XXX] Dear NHTSA Team, I am writing to formally report a safety issue with my 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, VIN [XXX] . After purchasing this vehicle, I encountered a significant problem that I believe poses safety concerns. Recently, I learned that Ford has developed a solution for this issue, as detailed in the following press release: WSAV Press Release. However, Ford is unwilling to cover the necessary repairs under warranty, despite the fact that this solution became available shortly after my purchase. I believe that this situation requires your attention, as it not only impacts my vehicle but may affect other owners of the same model. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter to ensure that safety standards are upheld and that consumers are treated fairly. Thank you for your attention to this important issue. I look forward to your response. Link #1: [XXX] #2: [XXX] Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The truck shifted its drive mode from normal driving into Baja mode by itself, and also shifted the transmission from 2H to 4H, potentially damaging the transmission and causing a safety issue on the highway.

The incomplete recall 26V238 is a concern. They say in the letter from Ford that it could be a fire issue. It seems the harness in the A pillar gets pinched and could short out causing the overhead lighting or mirror lighting to either cause a smoke issue or fire. BUT THE ANSWER IS NOT GOING TO BE AVAILABLE UNTIL LATE JULY MAYBE!! Why send a letter and state you have no answer yet or will have for a couple of months!!! Am I supposed to be happy that I will know why the fire breaks out? Some 1400 potential failures out of 140,000 is the prediction per a conversation with your [XXX] on the chat line. This is to me a lame response to an issue with a potential for a real safety issue and should have more response than "WE ARE WORKING ON THE ANSWER AND MAYBE END OF JULY" INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I received a letter several months ago for: Manufacturer Recall Number25C41 NHTSA Recall Number25V541 I called the Ford dealership to schedule the recall repair and they told me parts were not available. I explained to them I had a recall letter stating parts were now available and to schedule the repair. The dealer said they had the parts on order and they have not received any yet. I asked them if I could get put on their schedule for when parts came in and they agreed. They said they would call me as soon as they had parts to make the repair. Meanwhile, I received another recall letting from Ford saying parts are available, please schedule the repairs. I have been calling Ford recall hotline and the Ford dealership for over two months trying to get the safety recall repairs completed. They will not fix my compromised airbags and I am not getting any support from Ford to get this resolved.

NHTSA #11711896

Why hasn't Ford found replacement parts for this airbag defect. I don't feel safe driving a car that may cause more injury to my person if I'm in an accident. This should fixed immediately. Or I would like to return my vehicle for full refund or get a new one with out safety issues.

NHTSA #11684270

There used to be no sufficient clearance between the drivers knee airbag and the brake pedal. I wear steel toe boots for work and my foot just barely fits between the brake pedal and the airbag box. Several times it’s gotten hung up and I had trouble getting to the brake. In a panic situation the could be disastrous. I’ve checked in other model trucks and there is plenty of clearance.

My 2024 Ford Ranger XLT 2W has been suddenly losing power or stumbling upon initial acceleration. This has been occurring intermittently. My truck now has approximately 20,000 miles. The problem has become increasingly frequent. It seems to occur most often when accelerating from a complete stop. The loss of power can last for several seconds, then normal power is regained. Several times, the truck has lost power while making a left turn. It simply will not accelerate, and I find that I am stuck, unable to complete my turn and clear the oncoming traffic. I have taken my truck to a local dealer who attempted to diagnose the problem and they didn’t offer a solution since they were unable to reproduce the problem during their road test. It has happened many times since then and I am scheduled to return the vehicle to the same dealership to attempt to diagnose and fix the problem again soon. The problem seems to occur, regardless of which drive mode the truck is in and also occurs with Electronic Stability Control both enabled and disabled. There are no warning lights or check engine codes shown.

I came up to a stop sign on a snow cover highway. When I applied the brakes my ABS brakes came on, but instead of slowing down, I felt the vehicle accelerating instead. I was pushed into the middle of the intersection and involved in an accident. An accident report was filed with the state of Wisconsin. No injuries occurred. I mentioned the problem to the Ford dealer, but they said there was no recall notice on file. An insurance adjuster inspected the damage to my vehicle last week. I have made an appointment with a body shop in February. I have not driven the vehicle since the accident. There were no warning messages before the accident.

Fuel/Propulsion System2 quejas

I purchased a Ford Ranger truck with an EPA/NHTSA fuel economy label stating 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, 22 mpg combined. In reality, despite proper maintenance, the vehicle achieves only 16.26 mpg combined and as low as 14.72 mpg in city. While I understand fuel economy varies, this discrepancy is significant and may pose safety concerns. I relied on accurate fuel economy estimates to plan trips and refueling. This overstated MPG has lead me to unexpected fuel depletion, and stranding me in an unsafe condition (ran out of gas on HWY 287). I request NHTSA review whether Ford’s labeling practices meet regulatory standards and whether corrective action is warranted. I have taken the Ford Ranger to two different dealerships. One, Ford Automation, Frisco, Texas, refused to investigate what might be the issue, as they stated that was normal for the Ford Ranger. The second dealership, Five Star Ford, Dallas, Texas, reported in their tests they were averaging 26.1 mpg, combined. They did not tell me how they arrived at that figure. Your site would not allow me to upload fuel receipts to prove my statements above.

When accelerating, occasionally there is a hesitation. This becomes dangerous when accelerating from a side street onto a 55mph road when there’s an occasional break in traffic that I need to jump into. There’s been times where I got concerned when it hesitated and there was oncoming traffic. The other day I was going under 10mph around a curve and it hesitated so much, I looked at my gas gauge, thinking I was running out of gas (but I had a half tank). I’ve seen complaints online about this problem. I’ve had it to two different dealers and they found nothing wrong. I’ve had this problem since I purchased it new and I now have 12K miles. Thank you! The Drive Mode Control has been malfunctioning and selecting different drive modes while the vehicle is in motion without any physical input from myself, the driver. While driving in the normal two-wheel drive high (2H) at various rates of speed the Drive Mode Control will start clicking and selecting different drive modes, such as going to four-wheel drive low (4L) or four-wheel drive high (4H) and a pop-up message in the instrument cluster display showing the change displaying Mud/Ruts, Sand, Slippery modes being selected. This has been continuously occurring randomly at both low and high rates of speed. There are never any objects or materials in contact with the Drive mode Control when this happens, it does it on it's own with an audible clicking noise. This is effectively putting myself, my family and other drivers safety at risk since the truck is making changes to the power train without any input from myself and I have to take my attention off the road to bring the truck back into normal two-wheel drive high (2H) mode. I have contacted both Ford Motor Company directly and my local Ford Dealer Service Center to try to have the vehicle inspected but have not been able to due their delay in being able to diagnose the vehicle. This has been going on for 4+ months and the date provided below is the last occurrence of the issue.

1. The vehicle will sometimes randomly switch between drive modes with no influence from the driver. I believe it could be a faulty drive mode sensor and the vehicle is available to be inspected. 2. Having the vehicle switch drive modes at random could cause an increase in danger while driving. Going from Normal to Baja or other modes while at highway speeds is very concerning, considering it changes from 2-wheel to 4-wheel drive. 3. No. 4. No, the vehicle will be taken to a Ford dealership soon for the current window recall. 5. No prior warnings. The first couple of times, I thought I may have bumped it, but on multiple occasions I have realized it did it by itself with no influence from the operator. 6. For the additional details below: I put in the most recent incident, but it has occurred multiple times over the past year.

Approximately 32,000 miles. During that. I've had approximately 10 occasions where I've lost throttle power. It's happened while in turns and inclines. You lose all throttle response for 3 to 5 seconds. Been close to very dangerous a few times because of people behind me when I lost throttle and power. Other issue In both 2024 rangers we own. On curvy roads. The steering wheel starts sticking it will not reset back to center. This is one going into turns to the left and trying to go back to center. You have to use a lot of pressure to get it back to center like it's binding. Again this is happening in both our 2024 rangers starting around 7,000 mi on both. Only one has experienced the loss of power so far. I'm seeing a lot of complaints from other owners of the exact same lost power on forums

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the contact had trouble seeing out of the windshield and became aware that the front windshield was distorted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where a warranty claim was submitted, and it was determined that the windshield needed to be replaced. The windshield was replaced but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Gosch Ford Temecula-Service Dept (26895 Ynez Rd, Temecula, CA 92591); where it was determined that a windshield replacement was needed. The windshield was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer checked other years, makes, and models, and became aware that the vehicles had the same distorted windshields. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

Vehicle experienced unintended transmission gear change without driver input from the gear selector. While driving, the transmission shifted unexpectedly into 4H even though the selector was not touched. This created a safety hazard due to sudden change in vehicle behavior, including: loss of acceleration, lurching and unexpected movement. Issue occurred at approximately 30 mph. Concern is potential electronic transmission control or shift-by-wire malfunction causing unintended gear engagement.

When using the rear camera while towing a trailer, the image is partially blocked by a persistent message stating “full view not available”. This creates a safety issue as it obscures the driver’s view of the trailer and/or the trailer load. It is critical to be able to monitor the trailer and the load during towing to ensure a hazardous condition is not developing. I believe the rear view camera is working as designed, that is I do not believe there is a defect or failure in the hardware. However the design of the message is the problem. If the driver needs to know that “full view not available” then the message should be moved to a different part of the screen to not obscure the view of the trailer.

I am the original owner of this vehicle and the engine and controls have not been modified in any way. Yesterday while driving at approximately 30 mph on a surface street with dry road conditions in the “2H” setting on the Drive Modes Selection Dial my truck spontaneously shifted into four-wheel drive high and then attempted to switch into four-wheel-drive low – “Rock Crawl Mode.” The rear differential locked, speed was suddenly reduced, and the steering became more difficult. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over. I captured a video at this time documenting the control settings and display image. It took multiple attempts, even in Park and Neutral, to get out of 4WD and back into the 2H setting. Once back in 2H, the truck drove normally. I have had similar experiences at least twice before in this truck with months between them. In those cases, I wondered if I had accidentally bumped the dial control. I am certain that this was not the case yesterday, so this was a spontaneous event initiated by the truck’s computer and/or mechanical controls. I consider this to be a very serious safety hazard, as it dramatically and unexpectedly affected the speed and handling of my truck. I did some online searching today and found that multiple other Ranger Raptor owners have experienced this issue, suggesting that this may be a serious design flaw affecting multiple vehicles. I plan to schedule a service appointment with Ford and notify them directly of this problem and hazard.

Loss of power/accelleration. Multiple times. Issue has always occurred when turning left quickly then trying to accellerate. to make the immediate uphill. The accellerator goes dead for 3-4 seconds, then works. Engine RPM does not speed up when commanded, but then does after several seconds. By then it has been pushed to the floor attempting to make it over the upcoming hill. This is going to cause an accident, especially when pavement is slick, then truck quickly responds to the pedal position. The truck displays no codes or lights. Dealer says they have no idea what it could be. There are multiple reports on [XXX] . [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was slowing down, foot off of throttle, to make a left turn. After completing turn and wanting to speed up, I had no throttle response for 2 or 3 seconds. Then all of a sudden back to normal. There was no accident. This has happened before, at least 3 times. Same/similar circumstances and result. I have not taken it to the dealer yet after reading other owners doing so and was not resolved.

When truck was new at 400 miles Abs traction controll rear collision and all braking erro codes were displayed on dash. Brought to dealer had a bad wheel speed sensor in rear. At that time I asked about large amount of rear brakes dust on vehicle like if the brakes were dragging. Technician said just poor oem pads. Now at 14k miles rear pads at 6mm thickness back wheels are always covered in brake dust. I was at dealer asked if there is anything they could do regarding initial build quality. Dealer said no there is no fault just poorly made pads. As a consumer ths is less then except able of a vehicle to almost need new rear brakes at 14k miles. Delaer should be replacing these pads on there behalf not the customer.

Not sure if this is the correct channel, but here goes my concern. The safety incident has not yet occurred, but the manufacturer has stated it could/may occur if a certain fix is not performed, but are unwilling to issue a recall for said fix, or even produce the parts they say are necessary to implement the fix. I own a 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor that Ford has demonstrated has a design flaw in their bed (for vehicles produced before mid Sept, 2024) in that it cannot carry more than 88 lbs on the bed rails without the potential for failure. I need to install a topper to protect and secure cargo in the bed which will exceed the 88 lb failure number they state. The fix they say must be implemented is to install 2 Ford supplied load box reinforcement brackets (called J-braces), yet I've been trying to order/obtain said braces for almost 5 months now without success. Ford seems to have given up on producing them as they've been "out of stock" since I purchased my vehicle, and Ford has cancelled my order for them twice now, when I try to submit an order. If the bed fails due to weight above 88 lbs put on the rails while driving, depending on what a failure looks like, it could cause collisions with the affected vehicle, or with other traffic in the vicinity. Ford has been completely unresponsive in issuing a recall so far regarding this known design flaw, yet they redesigned the suspect area mid year to fix the issue on vehicles produced after mid-Sept and going forward. Yet they are leaving purchasers of vehicles prior to this time, in a precarious position as they have potential safety concerns that Ford is unwilling to address, or even provide a solution for.

Steering,Electrical System,Lane Departure1 queja

I flew down to Anchorage Alaska this brand new 024 FORD RANGER XL on [XXX] sight unseen and no test drive from KENDALL FORD Dealership. After buying the truck I started it, engaged 4 wheel drive and slippery/ icy setting. On the way back to Fairbanks the steering was hard to turn and got progressively harder the faster I drove and the colder it became. About half way home it became exhausting to steer requiring a lot of force to turn the steering wheel that actually resisted with real force being turned. I didn’t know the lane keeping would turn on with the cruise control but it did and resisted me even more. The roads became black ice and it was freezing rain. The phone charge port lost power, the dash blanked out, there was no radio and the rear power port I had switched to lost power and my phone died. I was driving about 30 to 40 mph on the 2 lane undivided snow covered black ice covered highway. In a curve in the road where the highway maintenance snow plows had stopped plowing I believe the truck mistook the snow line for the painted line and unexpectedly and surprisingly actually turned the steering wheel towards the double solid dividing centerline and I turned back into my lane. This slight movement caused the truck to totally slide out of control and cross the double solid dividing centerline and the truck went into opposite highway oncoming lane! Luckily there was no traffic coming the other way or it could have been a horrible accident. I hit the brakes and the truck actually stopped good, and then I got back into my lane and pulled over at the first chance. My phone was dead so I had no flashlight because I flew down I carried nothing but my coat. I tried to inspect the steering but it was all dark and below zero so I continued on towards Fairbanks another hundred miles to the North. The truck also had a bunch of other problems like refusing to start that can leave a person to freeze to death quickly in the Arctic below zero temperatures. I purchased a new 2024 Ford Ranger yesterday. As I was researching camper shells and truck racks I found that these common items cannot be installed without first installing a load bed reinforcement bracket kit to reinforce the truck bed to the bed side rails. Apparently, nothing can be attached to the side rail which weights more that 88 lbs or the truck bed could separate from the side rails. This is an design/engineering shortcoming from Ford as these are common after market add-ons for mid-sized trucks. Also, Ford is asking customers to pay for the reinforcement bracket and installation - which was quoted today at $1,600, and the Ford part is not currently available from the corporate US Ford website, and has not been available for several months.

The rear seats in the 2024/2025 Ford Raptor Ranger are connected to the rear of the cab via a single latch. The single latch does not always latch. I noticed it had failed to properly latch the next day when I was installing my car seats. I figured it was user error, but than I re-tested it and struggled to properly latch it. The danger is the rear portion of the seat could suddenly fold forward during a hard break or accident, resulting in serious injury to rear passengers.

Power Train,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 queja

My 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor has been suddenly losing power or stumbling upon initial acceleration. This has been occurring intermittently since it was nearly new. My truck now has approximately 10,500 miles. The problem has become increasingly frequent. It seems to occur most often when accelerating from a complete stop. The loss of power can last for several seconds, then afterwards, normal power is regained. It poses a safety risk since it has nearly caused collisions. Several times, the truck has lost power while making a left turn in front of oncoming traffic. It simply will not accelerate, and I find that I am stuck, unable to complete my turn and clear the oncoming traffic. Once when accelerating away from a stoplight, the truck lost power, and I was nearly struck by following vehicle.
