This recall has been unresolved for approximately two years. Recently, while traveling at highway speeds, the A-pillar trim detached from my vehicle and flew off, striking a vehicle behind me. Fortunately, no accident occurred, but the situation was extremely dangerous and could have resulted in serious injuries or property damage. This is precisely the type of incident the recall was intended to prevent. I have reached out to my local dealership numerous times and am told that Ford has no parts available. This is not acceptable and Ford is not handling this recall in a timely fashion.

NHTSA #11741521

The a-pillar applique trim, which borders the left and right side of the front windshield of my 2019 Ford Explorer has been under recall since January 2024. I've taken it to Bill Utter Ford in Denton, Texas, on four separate occasions to ask for it to be repaired. Generally stated, every six months since the recall. They tell me its too bad, there are np arts to repair it. Question, how can you all allow 2 years to pass and not force them to do something? On March 29, 2026, the drivers side piece came flying off at 30 miles per hour. Luckily no one was behind me. Now my windshield has no protection trim. Further, I cut my right hand trying to force the broken pieces back in.

I brought my vehicle to Ford Motor Place in Webster Massachusetts to do two recalls, my car was driving normally before the recall service. Immediately after recall work, it does not run properly. The dealer claims transmission failure without prior symptoms. The vehicle only has 70,000 miles.

NHTSA #11730866

I had my transmission replaced in California on Feb 2025. Had failure issues and took it to ford, they found an issue with the torque converter and replaced 7 months after the new transmission, it was cleaned out for debris and contamination. Early this May took it in again for the vehicle violently shaking, the ford Mechanic before inspecting immediately knew what transmission I had and knew what issue was, said all the 6F35 transmissions are failing. Took it to my local ford dealership who confirmed that the whole transmissions needs to be replaced again. Less than 20k miles on it. Of course this transmission had a law suit filed which was dismissed. Frustrating because it is clearly a known issue. I am currently #10 on the national waitlist for a new transmission. I am expected to be without a vehicle for months.

The transmission was violently jerking when accelerating to get on the interstate. Our Explorer is available for inspection upon request. It was dangerous in that we couldn't have a consistent speed when joining oncoming traffic on the road. The local Ford dealer did confirm the transmission needed replacement. Ford did an inspection on the original transmission and confirmed it was damaged. It was a sudden failure of the transmission and it included a wrench light on the dashboard. We had a rebuilt transmission installed by the local Ford dealer which cost us over $9,400. This is known issue by Ford, especially for the Explorers, but they are not standing behind their powertrains. I contacted Corporate Ford to see about any goodwill, but they were not interested in providing any assistance.

2019 Ford Explorer XLT with FWD Transaxle transmission and 46,107 miles on odometer, purchased in November 2018 and now 5 years old this month. Way too early for a transmission failure to occur. Normally drive the posted speed limit unless changes in the traffic patterns slower or a little faster.8 Heard a noise from left front wheel area when accelerating and slowing/re-accelerating in traffic. Extended service plan expired (5 year, 60,000 miles, Nov 2018-Nov 2023). Took car to local garage, did a test drive and checked by mechanic. It was determined that problem came from transmission. There have been NO warning lamps, messages, etc. prior to me noticing the problem and nothing since mechanic checked the vehicle. Sounded like the right front wheel area made a noise when turning around in a parking lot this morning. Mechanic estimated cost to repair with parts, labor, etc., will be $6,245.90 out of pocket.

Vehicle shutters during acceleration due to torque converter failure. Vehicle shutters while traveling due to torque converter failure. Vehicle jerks when transmission is shifting due to torque converter failure. The vehicle was brought to the Ford dealer without the check engine light or mechanical light on. The Ford dealer was able to verify the above listed issues and deemed the torque converter failed. The ford dealer quoted me $4,000.00 for repairs. The torque converter failures in these vehicles is a common issue that Ford has failed to fix that can cause accidents and harm to persons involved due to bad design of the torque converter and transmission.

For months, almost a year, my transmission could not properly accelorate. The car would not allow for the pick up in speed to happen. Each time I took it to the shop that cares for my car, Mike's More Miles, the problem would not duplicate. My special needs son, his service dog and I were all of the expressway traveling, the car slowed down on its own, I had not applied the brakes, the speed dropped from 65 to less than 35 in seconds. I pulled over and tried to regain speed after putting the car into park. No luck. the car would not go faster then 20-30 miles an hour, with me putting into neutral when coasting downhill, then back into drive manually to get it to the repair shop. This almost caused a terrible accident. This scared my son, who has brain disease. Our 85 lb. service dog was jolted from the back of the car slamming into the seat. I was also very scared and shaken. My son began to yell and scream what is happening, it was a scary and tense, literally jaw dropping experience. I drove to Enterprise Rental, called Austin the owner of the shop that has tried to duplicate the problem on a dozen tried and told him what occurred. I left my car at Enterprise, where Austin picked it up. The problem did duplicate. FINALLY a code came up to diagnose the problem. The transmission fluid was also black, with metal shavings in it as well. Please refer to all technical service bulletins that note this is a known problem by Ford. I have paid $7582.70 for a new transmission. The shop owner, Austin, told me the torque converter overheated, the transmission had failed. I also paid for the rental car an estimate of $490.00.

Vehicle lost acceleration while driving down highway and shuttered severally when depressing gas pedal. I had to cut across lanes of highway traffic with no power and nearly caused an accident. Engine revs up be vehicle wont accelerate, just shakes badly. I am waiting on a mechanic to verify the problem but appears to be a transmission failure. The vehicle has had hard shifting in recent months leading up to this failure. A 2019 model year with 105000 miles.

The vehicle vibrates excessively when shifting into Drive or Reverse (rough idle). Additionally, the vehicle lacks acceleration/power when driving in slightly uphill roads, creating a hazard for nearby drivers. There were no check engine lights and the issue first appeared at approx. 84,000 miles. The vehicle was diagnosed at a Ford dealership and the issue was determined to be the torque converter. The Ford Service Dept cited TSB 22-2287 and recommended replacing the full transmission to fix the issue.

My wrench light came on in my 2019 Ford Explorer with 2.3L engine last week. It caused my vehicle to have lack of acceleration during launch and shudder while driving. When my son and I took off from a stop, it was very slow when crossing traffic. Made appointment with Ford dealership to have it looked at the next morning. After car was parked and restarted, wrench light went off. Kept appointment and told them a mechanic friend said it sounded like the torque converter (which my mother who has a 2019 Ford Edge just had replaced the week before!). Explained this to the dealership, they said it didn't sound like that was it. 4 wheel drive module was corrupt so they updated it and told me I may need a new transmission in the near future. Today, my light came on again while taking my son to school and caused lack of acceleration while pulling onto the highway and I took it to the dealership while it was lit up. Codes P0767 and P2704 showed and they told me it was I needed a new transmission due to my torque converter failing. I checked into it and Customer Satisfaction Program 20N07 does not include my car even though it is doing the exact same thing and was assembled in Chicago in January 2019 (timeframe of the program and location). I just don't understand how my car doesn't fall under that program when it is DOING THE EXACT SAME THING with only 67,200 miles on it. This is a serious safety concern. So thankful that there was not heavy traffic when I pulled onto the highway.

I am writing to formally report an issue regarding Safety Recall 24S02 on my 2019 Ford Explorer, which is incorrectly shown as completed by Cornerstone Ford in Elk River, Minnesota. This recall involves the exterior A‑pillar trim on 2011–2019 Ford Explorer vehicles and is a documented Ford safety campaign (24S02 / 24V031). According to Ford’s records and Cornerstone Ford’s reporting, Recall 24S02 is flagged as completed on my vehicle on Jun 2025; however, the actual recall repair has never been performed. It appears only on an estimate repair invoice from July 2025, and I have text message correspondence from the dealer dated December 19, 2025, stating that the part had arrived, yet no recall work was scheduled or completed. Notice on Invoice (attached): [Primary]: S100 - RECALL RECALL RECALL - C/S: NO REMEDY AVAILABLE YET-24S02 EXTERIOR A PILLAR APPLIQUE INSPECTION I am unable to take it to a different dealership because it has been flagged as completed. I contacted Ford's Customer service, and they are taking the dealership's word.

The A-PILLAR TRIM has flew off on the freeway on 4 separate occasions. 3 different times I paid out of pocket to have it repaired, not knowing this was a manufacture defect. Ford keeps saying that they do not have the parts to repair it.

NHTSA #11669499

Difficulty getting the vehicle repaired in a reasonable time or without charge. Initial recall indicated parts would be available in the latter half of 2024. It is now mid 2025. Ford dealership indicates parts are not available for recall, BUT parts ARE available if I'd like to pay out of pocket for repairs. That seems fraudulent and the A-pillar trim on my vehicle is obviously defective and coming off the vehicle. This is hazardous and Ford should not be able to charge for repairs and not comply with the recall repairs.

The windshield lower molding is deteriorating. The molding has cracked and fallen off in several places. This has been happening over the last 6 months but has gotten much worse. It also makes a buzzing vibration over 50mph. I'm afraid that if it gets any worse the windshield may pop out in an accident. Unknown Unknown No warning

The A-pillar trim on the driver's side around windshield is coming off, and poses a risk to other drivers if it flys off while driving down the road. A recall on Ford Explorers of the same year is already issued, does not include the Police utility of same year.

Water is entering the rear liftgate which fills up during a rain event. This can potentially create problems with the electrical components mounted inside of the liftgate. i.e. Power door release, Rear defog, third bake light, window wiper, rear tail lights. These could short out or maybe cause a fire. It is already causing premature corrosion at the lowest end seam of the panel as the paint it now bubbling and beginning to seperate from the surface. This could also create a structural integrity issue with the liftgate. The rear glass is stationary. Not designed to open. Maybe this is a similar adhesion issue that the 2016 Transit connect had with the windshield which was recentlyn recalled for improper adhesion process/defect aloowing water to enter into the cabin.

Vehicle fails to start intermittently. After having this happen on several occasions and waiting for 1-2 hours it would start. However, the last time, while traveling it would not start after taking brief stop. Had to leave the vehicle overnight and return the next day to haul it back home 300 hundred miles. That was Feb. 23, 2026 and still will not start. Vehicle has 70,000 miles.

On 3 separate occasions my car has stalled when driving. All three were after driving for several hours in hot weather. 2 of the times I had a quarter of a tank of gas and pressed on the gas to pass someone and my car stalled out immediately after. Both very dangerous scenarios. 3 time just this week. Driving for over 5 hours in hot weather conditions, but 3 quarters of a tank of gas and stuck in traffic and the car just completely stalled. Again a dangerous scenario on the highway. All three times after waiting for about 45 minutes the car will start again. Sluggish at first and then drives normal. It’s giving indications that it could be a defect in the low pressure fuel pump that has been a recall in other 2019 ford explorers, but my vin #is not listed as one of them.

The catalytic converters for the Ford Explorer Utility Police Interceptor fail prematurely, degrading the emissions from the vehicle and causing the vehicle to fail emissions testing. Although Ford has implemented a Customer Satisfaction Campaign 22M06, they do not inform owners of the campaign or potential problem. My car was inspected by two Ford dealerships who simply cleared the error code (P0430) and made no mention of Campaign 22M06. The error code persisted as I replaced numerous other components (spark plugs, purge valve, oxygen sensors, Mass air flow sensor) trying to alleviate the problem over the last year. Only if you mention the campaign specifically will they inspect the vehicle for the purpose of replacing the the catalytic converters under warranty. Replacing these failing catalytic converters should be a recall because failure creates substandard emissions for thousands of vehicles.

While driving at highway speeds on the interstate, the B-pillar exterior trim suddenly detached from the vehicle. The trim remained tethered only by the keypad wiring, causing it to flail in the wind and create an immediate road hazard. Simultaneously, the vehicle’s instrument cluster triggered a "Liftgate Open" warning, despite the liftgate being secure. I was forced to make an emergency pull-over onto the shoulder of the interstate—a dangerous situation—to prevent the trim from completely detaching and striking other vehicles. Upon reaching my destination, the vehicle suffered a significant electrical short. The interior lights remained on indefinitely due to the false "liftgate open" sensor reading, and the door keypad became completely inoperable. To prevent a total battery drain and potential fire risk from the short, I had to manually disconnect the battery. The dealership confirmed the failure but stated that current B-pillar recalls (such as Recall 25S53) currently only apply to 2016–2017 models, despite my 2019 model using the same defective clips and adhesive. This failure is identical in nature to Recall 24S02 (A-pillar detachment). The detachment of this trim is a documented projectile hazard. Furthermore, the resulting electrical short in the door harness has compromised the integrity of the vehicle’s sensor system. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the expansion of the B-pillar recall to include the 2019 model year to prevent further highway incidents.

The B post on the driver side flew off while driving. This is has been an ongoing issue. Ford has fixed them before and they keep causing issues on both the driver and passenger side. The exterior panel does not stay connected to the truck. It flew off at highway speeds, causing the air and rear tailgate to malfunction after it pulled a wire out. This is a huge safety issue ford refuses to acknowledge.

In February I was driving to an appt. when the side panel on driver's door broke & started flying around & hitting car. (It has the numbers to enter the car without a key.) So I had to roll down window 1/2 way, grab the broken part & drive 18 miles to town, holding the part so it wouldn't fly off (in 30 degree weather!) So I drove by the Ford Dealership where I got my car. They thought there was a recall on that item so I've been waiting. I just saw on the NHTSA site there was a recall for that item on 2016-17? Explorers, but mine is 2019!!! Would you please add the 2019 model to that recall? Also, I'm STILL WAITING (1 1/2 years later) for the recalled trim pieces around the front windshield.

Steering1 queja

While my granddaughter was driving our 2019 Ford Explorer, the steering effort suddenly increased without warning, as if the electric power steering assist stopped functioning. She was traveling at approximately 45 mph on a public road and was unable to steer normally. The sudden loss of assist caused her to nearly leave her lane and almost resulted in a collision. This vehicle uses an electric‑assist rack‑and‑pinion steering system. There were no warning lights or messages before or during the event. Road conditions were dry. After the incident, steering remained abnormally heavy/intermittent. It isn't as though it mimics an old school vehicle without power steering, where it simply requires a good deal of strength. With this situation, if you work hard to make a correction, the car suddenly pulls further quickly in that direction, or in the opposite direction in a very jerky manner. The failure occurred without any prior symptoms and created an immediate loss‑of‑control hazard, especially for younger or smaller drivers who cannot overcome the sudden increase in steering force. It basically feels like it is locked up. I am reporting this because the failure was sudden, unannounced, and nearly caused an accident. This appears to be a malfunction of the electric power steering assist system, and it presents an unreasonable safety risk. On a related note, I am the Director of Quality for a manufacturing facility and have conducted hundreds of formal risk assessments during product design. A sudden, unannounced loss of steering assist represents a high‑severity, low‑tolerance safety hazard. In my professional opinion, this failure mode warrants an accelerated investigation.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my 2019 Ford Explorer, which is currently subject to the 2011–2019 Ford Explorer — A-Pillar Trim Detachment Recall (Recall Reference Number: 24S02). The exterior A-pillar trim on my 2019 Ford Explorer, covered under the aforementioned recall, has caused severe issues including vibrations and a loud whistling noise around the windshield area, particularly at highway speeds. These problems are not only a nuisance but also pose a potential safety hazard, as the vibrations could lead to more severe structural damage or detachment of the trim while driving. I have contacted several Ford dealerships in my area, as well as Ford headquarters, seeking a resolution under recall 24S02. Unfortunately, I was consistently informed that the necessary parts to correct the issue are not available. I was told that Ford had provided the parts, but they were only available for a two-week period and are no longer in stock. The person I spoke with at the dealership advised me to call back at a later time to check if the parts are available. Additionally, when I reached out to Ford’s headquarters customer relations department for further assistance, I was simply transferred to my local dealership without any other form of help or guidance. This lack of support from the manufacturer is deeply frustrating and concerning. Furthermore, one of the dealerships informed me that another customer with similar issues under the same recall has been waiting for over a month and has yet to receive the necessary parts. This delay, coupled with the lack of clear communication and guidance, is highly concerning, especially given the potential safety risks associated with the defect. Given the severity of the issue and the inadequate response from Ford, I am requesting that the NHTSA intervene to ensure that Ford takes the necessary steps to resolve this safety concern promptly. I am concerned that a serious incident can occur if not resolved.

I was traveling on the interstate (~75 mph) when the rear of my vehicle suddenly jerked to one side with enough force to cause a loss of control. There were no lights or warning sounds to indicate that there was anything wrong with the vehicle in that moment or leading up to it. I was fortunate enough that no contact was made with any other vehicles as my car crossed all three lanes; from the center lane to the far right and then back across all three lanes to the far left. The car skidded off the highway and slid onto a sloped embankment before it stopped. Obviously, I or someone else could have been seriously injured or even killed. I was able to drive the car back up on the shoulder of the highway. Everything was functioning properly EXCEPT the steering. I was able to drive at ~15 mph to the nearest exit. I was then towed to my mechanic's shop. The tow truck driver said it looked like my right rear tire was about to "fall off" and that I was very lucky. My mechanic took pictures of the damaged part (Right Rear Toe Arm) both on the vehicle and again once removed. He checked with Ford for a recall and found out that this part had been part of a recall on Explorers from 2012-2017, but not on the 2019. Assuming the part had been redesigned after 2017, he ordered a replacement for the right. (The Left Toe Arm was not damaged.) However, once the replacement part arrived, it was a completely new design from the 2019 Toe Arm. He recommended I replace the Left Toe Arm as well since the parts were so different. My right shock absorber was also damaged in the accident and had to be replaced.
