When charging my Silverado EV at Level 3 DC Fast chargers it is not charging at the same Voltage / Power as it has been in the past at the same stations (roughly half the power). I have taken it to the service center for diagnostics but they were unable to isolate the component that caused this problem, only reproduce the problem. Further details below. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The Level 3 DC high voltage charging is not charging at the same voltage as a comparable Silverado EV. (Pictures attached) - I can demonstrate the problem with my car on request, I have attached pictures of a new Silverado EV charging as well. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - I would not consider it safe for level 3 DC charging which involves high current and high voltage to not be working as designed. It is also unsafe to not have any warning lights indicating that the charging is not working as designed. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by John Heister Chevrolet of Fuquay Varina NC. They were unable to isolate a component that is causing the issue and have sent log files of the car to the engineers at Chevy to further diagnose this issue. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - There are no warning lights / messages indicating that there is a problem even now. Only the symptom of not charging at the expected Voltage / Power level. - Symptoms were first observed by me on December 16, 2026

I own a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV WT equipped with the OEM soft tonneau cover. The original cover and its warranty replacement have both failed in the same way. The cover material appears to shrink over time so that the side flaps will no longer reach and stay attached to the Velcro along the bed rails. At highway speeds the cover flaps and “balloons” upward, and the Velcro strips will not stay connected even when properly installed and tightened. The dealer has already replaced the cover once under warranty, but the replacement has the same problems. This suggests a design or materials defect, not a one‑time bad part or installation error. In my opinion, the flapping and ballooning could allow the cover to come loose or detach at speed, which could create a road hazard for other drivers. I am asking NHTSA to track these failures and evaluate whether the OEM soft tonneau cover on the Silverado EV presents a safety risk similar to prior GM tonneau cover issues where covers detached while driving.

The backup camera stopped working around July 1. I took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer could not fix the problem. The dealer says GM is aware that some vehicles have their backup camera stop working and is working on a software fix. Backup cameras have been a required safety item on all cars sold in the US since 2018. An inoperable camera thus is a safety risk. There are no warning lights or other messages.

The rear door sensors do not function, doors are always indicated as being closed, even if they are open. The car gives no warning if door open and vehicle put into drive. Also with walk away lock the vehicle can lock while rear door is in the open state resulting in accidentally locking a occupant in the vehicle. The walk away locked engaged while I was at the rear of the vehicle unloading my dog from the back seats. My child can open the door and there will be no warning about the door being open. The interior lights do not come on when any of rear doors are open.

The exterior passenger side mirror is manufactured with flat glass and not convex glass. The flat glass field of view is not nearly wide enough for this large truck. This flat glass combined with the width (distance from the driver's head/eyes to the passenger door mirror), height, and length of the truck creates a substantial risk for an accident while traveling on any roadway or even maneuvering while parking. It is impossible to adjust the flat glass mirror to bring a smaller car to the right side of this truck into the driver's field of view, and at the same time, approaching traffic from the right rear. This is particularly dangerous when needing to make a quick "glance and maneuver". GM Parts has advised there is no alternative replacement mirror for this truck. Replacing the flat glass mirror on the passenger side with the commonly used passenger convex mirror glass would correct this hazardous situation.

On 1/20/26, we purchased a ‘24 Chevy Silverado EV from a Chevrolet dealership. 2 days later, on 1/22/26, while my husband was driving on the interstate, the tonneau cover partially detached and flew backwards lifting upwards and flapping violently. One of the metal crossbars detached completely from the tonneau cover and flew off the truck, and a second crossbar began to tear away. The cover was flapping forcefully which created a highly unstable and dangerous condition. My husband pulled over on the side of the interstate to remove the tonneau cover to prevent it from fully detaching. He placed the cover into the truck bed. This incident occurred suddenly, with no warning. This was a near-miss incident with potentially catastrophic consequences. If the tonneau cover had fully detached, it could have become airborne and struck another vehicle. The crossbar that flew off, could have struck another vehicle, easily penetrating a windshield, causing another driver to lose control, or result in a multi-vehicle collision. The risk of serious injury or fatality was significant. The next day, on 1/23/26, we took the truck and damaged tonneau cover to our local Chevrolet dealership for inspection. The service manager visually inspected the cover and documented the failure. We scheduled an appointment for repair at their soonest availability, 2/4/26. We will not feel comfortable using a new cover unless a modification is made to adequately secure the cover to prevent this from occurring again. We also called the Chevrolet dealership where we purchased the vehicle from and spoke with the general manager to let them know what happened, as they have sold close to 100 of these Chevy Silverado EV’s. They said this has happened to others and they speculate that GM is already aware of this concern. We urge the NHTSA and GM to take immediate action. Please open an investigation and issue a recall before someone is seriously injured or killed. Thank you NHTSA!

The front trunk latch mechanism repeatedly fails. When this occurs, the vehicle believes the trunk is open and will not let you drive in normal mode. It forces you to proceed in limp mode which is dangerous. The 12v battery has to be reset to have the sensor redetect the close latch. Reports from multiple forum sources show this to be a widespread problem and currently dealer are replacing with the same mechanism and the problems reoccur.

Rear door sensors do not work. No dash light or dome light to indicate if a door is open or adjar. If a child is in the back seat doors could be left open and the driver would not know.

NHTSA #11631539

When the rear doors are opened on the truck, the interior lights do not come on which is a hassle when securing an infant in a car seat. Further to this, the door ajar symbol on the dash does not come on for either rear door, it does come on for the front doors. I talked to GM about this and they said that since it's a WT model with the base lighting there are no rear door lights or sensors. I found another person with the same model truck where there dealer found the same problem but fixed it.

While in traffic over 45 miles per hour, the vehicle placed itself into a hazard mode due to the electric vehicle propulsion system. This happened so fast and the deceleration rate was so quick that it risked a rear end collision. This is the second time this has happened and both were following a heavy rain storm. I drove through a modest puddle that did not even submerge half of the tire wall making contact with the road and did so slowly. Less than five miles later, the vehicle goes into what my service advisor calls "limp mode." I have asked General Motors to give me an even exchange or, in lieu of the fear this vehicle gave me, an upgrade to a Cadillac Escalade IQ.

Seat Belts1 queja

I am 6'2" tall. The shoulder straps on both the drivers and passenger side do not adjust up far enough to protect me in the event of a crash. The straps slip down below my shoulder. This is due to the fact that the WT model does not have power seats, so I am unable to lower my seating position to a safe level. If the seat could be lowered, the shoulder straps would sit properly above my shoulder. In the event of a crash the shoulder strap will be totally useless.

The contact owned a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. The contact stated that when idle, the vehicle would hesitate before accelerating. Continuing to drive at approximately 55 MPH, the accelerator was released, and the vehicle continued to accelerate. The vehicle veered off the road, where the vehicle flipped a total of 5 times before coming to a stop. The contact received injuries to their back, whipflash, and a contusion of the stomach. Medical treatment was needed and had been ongoing. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Electrical System,Exterior Lighting,Structure1 queja

There is apparently a known issue on the WT "Work Truck" trim of the Silverado EV trucks where the factory wiring harness was assembled incorrectly. This prevents the truck from knowing when the rear doors are open vs closed. If only one (or even both) rear doors are open, all the doors may automatically lock (depending on auto-locking settings), potentially locking the driver out of the vehicle. As a first responder I immediately recognize this as a significant child safety issue: if a parent were to get out to check on their child in the back seat, finish what they were doing, then close the doors to get back in the front, they could find themselves locked out with their child locked inside. Because this would also mean the truck would be shut down, the climate controls would be turned off when this happens, and could easily result in heat injury or death of a child. This door issue also causes a safety issue as the dome lights do not come on when the rear doors are opened, and a door could potentially be partially or even wide open without the truck alerting the driver. The dash clearly shows and identifies the front driver and front passenger door open indicators, but does not show either of the rear doors. I have not taken my truck into the dealer for correction of this issue yet, but I have confirmed this is an issue with multiple other Silverado EV drivers who have the WT trim (both 3WT and 4WT packages). While I will be working with GM to address the issue on my vehicle, I feel the potential risks of this issue are significant enough that the NHTSA should intervene for all affected vehicles. To save a little time, here is a forum post on the matter. Under heavy acceleration the vehicle swerves from lane to lane and the operator is unable to counter the steering. The behavior continues until the acceleration is halted. The vehicle was grounded due to it being deemed unsafe by the originating dealership technician and repairs were attempted but were unsuccessful. Vehicle does not indicate when rear doors are ajar or not properly latched. Vehicle information center shows when front doors or frunk is open. Results are either door swinging open when not properly latched or in my case, as the vehicle does not know that the doors are open, immediately locking the vehicle with the fob in my bag on the rear seat. I disabled the walk away locking feature for now as I only have 30 days of remote services with the vehicle to unlock vehicle from my phone. Vehicle is currently at Chevy dealer for troubleshooting. The rear passenger door sensors are not working on my vehicle as delivered from the factory/dealer. Upon opening the rear doors, there is no indication on the instrument panel/dome illumination as is present for the front passenger doors. With 4 independent doors it would appear to be a possible safety concern as the rear doors could unknowingly be open while driving. This issue has been discussed by several Silverado EV WT owners at the forum (linked below) and at least one dealer has diagnosed the issue as a missing ground wire on the door latch/sensor as documented in the service write up attached that was shared via the forum. However, other dealers are refusing to correct the issue as has been the case with my dealer thus far.
