Truck has 36,669 miles check engine light came on and was idling loud, after being looked at my a Chevrolet dealership came back a faulty radiator hose, and coolant was leaking. Too new of truck for this kind of problem

I have had my vehicle for less than 2 years and less than 25,000. I had it in for regular maintenance and was told I had no coolant. After a pressure test the dealership told me I had a large crack in the coolant line. It will 2 weeks to get the part and I can’t drive my truck. This needs to be made a recall and the part needs to be made available asap. This could of caused serious damage to my engine and could of cause me to have an accident.

Copied this from a forum and it's the same thing for me. I'm editing to fit my unique situation. This is an $800 repair at my dealer for a $40 part! 5 day backorder so I'm without a vehicle. The upper radiator hose on some huge percentage of these trucks fail (mine has failed at 37500 miles). You can check the Colorado Chevy forum, youtube, etc., et al, and find plenty of instances where this has failed. As this is the cooling system, it can cause the engine to overheat and potentially ruin the engine. The flaw seems to be an engineering issue with the rubber seal they use (instead of a high quality o-ring) to seal the upper hose to the radiator. Additionally, since this can cause engine failure it should be addressed immediately. Instead, my local Chevy dealer, since its not a recall item, said they could schedule a time next week for me to LEAVE the truck and then they would get to it in 7-10 days. This is extremely unfair to the consumer who depends on these vehicles. This should absolutely be a recall item. You can find 1000's of examples online and if you can pull GM repair data, I'm sure you'll find 1000's more.

Upper radiator hose leak with 36,750 miles(just out of warranty) 3 days after it was at dealer for oil change and replacing the heat shield. Apparently VERY common in these vehicles which says they are aware but haven't FIXED the issue, should be a RECALL!!

Check engine light appeared and fans kicked on loudly. Stayed on even after shutting the vehicle off. Vehicle is a 2024 with only 28,639 miles on it. Upper radiator hose was leaking and would not seal. Took to dealership for repair and replacement. Was informed it was the 3rd Chevy Colorado this week with this issue! Was stunned. Further internet research found a staggering number of forum posts with this same issue. This is a recall-worthy issue at this point. Please consider issuing a recall based on the safety issues this may pose if engines seize or overheat as well as the sheer number of the same reported incidents.

The truck has 28,000 miles and has been only driven for commuting on interstate conditions. While traveling on an 80 mile commute, I experienced complete engine failure while traveling at 75 MPH (the posted speed limit is 80). As the engine failed, I was placed in a dangerous position as there is no pull-off and traffic was heavy. I was stranded in winter conditions with no ability to heat or stay warm. OnStar assisted with a tow to the closest dealership which was Ressler Chevy in Bozeman, MT. The results of the inspection indicated a failed crank shaft, hole from internal debris in the engine block, and the engine seized. This has resulted in a engine replacement. When asked, this has been an ongoing problem with the 2.7 engine yet there is no recall and the fix is to replace it with another 2.7 with no fix to the issues. This truck has received all required maintenance through Chevy dealerships and has no upgrades or changes from the manufacturer settings when purchased a year ago. There were no signs, symptoms, or warmings prior to the engine failure.

Immediately after braking in traffic or at a complete stop the there is hesitation with the accelerator. If I have to brake in traffic on the highway and then need to accelerate to enter another lane the vehicle will not accelerate for several seconds making it dangerous if the traffic in the other lane is traveling at a higher speed. At a stop sign when looking both ways to make sure the road is clear if I need to accelerate quickly the car will not move for several seconds no matter how far I push the accelerator. This almost led to a crash at a limited visibility intersection. I have not taken it to the dealer yet, but that is the next step.

A leak in the upper radiator coolant intake hose has been found. This leak is the result of a bad rubber o-ring in the connection between the radiator and the hose. This has resulted in coolant regularly leaking from the vehicle causing power train issues, health and safety concerns where toxic coolant is leaking and environmental concerns. A loud “whooshing” noise was heard from the engine bay prior to eventually a check engine light being illuminated when the coolant level became low enough.

Brand new TRUCK… 2024 Chevy Colorado LT 4x4.. Classic Chevrolet Oklahoma CIty OK Extremely Rough Idol, on cold engine start up, You can hear the ROUGH noise it coming out of the Exhaust and feel it in the cab of the truck. After warm up,, at intersections on red lights ,,you can hear and feel the idol miss at times a little bit. The dealership has had my truck for 8 days now. NO positive results to date. They say GM is making them go through a step by step process. The service manager tells me there is a code in one of the cylinders.. but the injectors test perfect. Looking on GOOGLE i see many owners of the same truck with the SAME issue !!!

The vehicle was purchased new from Courtesy Chevrolet in San Diego, CA. After 500 miles on the odometer, I decided to change the oil with fresh Castrol Syntec 5W-30 which has the Dexos 1 Gen3 approval along with a new ACDelco PF66 oil filter. Upon removing the oil drain plug and after all of the oil had been drained, I noticed the threads for the oil drain plug appear to be loose and perhaps broken free from the stamped aluminum oil pan. Luckily, I was fortunate to obtain a perfect seal while pulling on the drain plug and threading it into the pan. The attached images are from a new oil pan I purchased. The steel threaded insert inside the stamped aluminum oil pan has broken free and the only way to properly repair it is to have the factory oil pan replaced with another. The design is poor and there is no way to prevent the threaded insert from falling into the pan rendering the vehicle inoperable. I will be taking the vehicle into the dealership to express my concern.

Starting on [XXX] while driving the truck, the gauge cluster and radio went completely out (black screen) and the five red automatic emergency braking LED's illuminated and stayed on for up to 5 minutes. This happened about 8 times on my commute home. This happed again on [XXX] after the dealership did a software update to resolve the issue. The truck was serviced again on 09/11/2025 and I was told that GM has no software fix for this at this time. On 09/25/2025 again the truck was serviced again to try and fix the issue. This time the radio came on and I could not turn it off or adjust the volume. I went straight to the dealer and showed the issue to the service manager James Mask. The cluster and radio to this day continue to go out (black screen), no speedometer, gauges of any sort for a period of time from 15 seconds to 30 minutes. This leaves me with no way of obeying the speed limit, fuel level, oil or temperature gauges. GM is being blasé about this. They have admitted they know the issue exists but can't or won't offer a fix for the issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My teenage son was involved in an accident because of distraction caused by his he dashboard. Upon taking right turns with the right blinker, the LEFT blinker would subsequently illuminate for at least 4 blinks. Additionally, the CHECK ENGINE light was also illuminated. The vehicle only had less than 90miles on it. As he took a right turn at a 4 way stop, he was distracted by the left blinker and attempted to turn off the blinker manually which caused him to steer into the curb which them caused him to lose control and his a brick mailbox. $8500 worth of vehicle damage and $1500 worth of mailbox replacement damage was caused. Chevrolet dealership service dept indicated that blinker switches in new Colorados have been malfunctioning and they are replacing the blinker switches due to defect. After collision repair, I will take the truck jn to get switch replaced AND inspect why the check engine light is illuminated.

Right turn signal auto-cancel activates left turn lane change signal aproximately 60% of the time. This may cause confusion to oncoming traffic and could lead to an accident. When my right turn signal clicks off, it activates my left lane change signal. Took to dealer and was told it functions as it was designed because the tech found two other vehicles that did the same. I've never had a vehicle do that. I don't want to be cut off because of this issue. GM sides with the tech. No one designs vehicles that function way. Been that way since I got it and I keep getting a snow job from dealerships.

About two weeks ago my truck popped up a message asking if I had installed new brake pads. When I selected no, on my Home Screen, where I can see the systems of my truck the front bake wear indicator no longer showed a percentage. When I inspected my brake pads the front outer pads still had a good amount of pad left, but when I checked the inner pads they had been severely worn down compared to the outers. On 4/1 I brought my truck to a Chevy dealership to have them diagnose why there is such uneven brake pad wear. After they inspected the brakes the dealership then told me that due to the brake pad clips being installed improperly my pads were wearing out unevenly. The dealership also showed me a service bulletin (25-NA-365) that GM had put out for trucks in the 2023-2026 models that stated due to a factory installation defect on the clip that holds the brake pads in place it is causing uneven wear on the brake pads. I told the dealership that the clip causing uneven wear on the brake pads could become a safety concern if owners don’t know about this because the braking effectiveness of the truck is wearing out faster than what the owner is told by the sensor. I told them in extreme cases that if the pad completely wears out then the rotor could be damaged and cause a very significant impact to the safety of the vehicle because the braking system will be severely degraded. I was told that since it is just a service bulletin the dealership and GM do not have to cover the repairs of the brake pads because a service bulletin is not the same as a recall and that brake pad wear is a normal maintenance item. My concern is that trucks with similar mileages as mine of 20000 miles are wearing their brake pads out at an alarming rate and the dealership and GM are not taking the responsibility to ensure that the issue is resolved and new pads are replaced to ensure proper braking effectiveness on the roads.

My truck only has 16,600 miles on it and the rotors and brakes are already shuddering. The dealership told me I needed my front and rear brakes and rotors replaced. It is beyond ridiculous when my last truck a 2020 Chevy Colorado had no rotor or brake problems and have 90,000 miles when I traded it in.
NHTSA #11724990
The front brake pads are showing extremely uneven ware. Outer brake pad is at 2mm and the inner is at 7mm due to a spring issue on the front caliper. There is also a lip on the left rotor. The tech used 25-NA-365 to help identify the issue. However, my VIN is not covered under this repair. The result is a $500 out of pocket repair for something that should be a mfg defect and not wear and tear. As this was already outlined as an issue with other 2024 Chevy Colorado's I am asking this to be expanded to cover my vehicle as well. The issues was also causing my brake sensors to "detect" new brakes and I had to inform the vehicle that I have not had brake service done to trigger this alert.
NHTSA #11707589
At engine start up there were two warnings that came up on info screen. "Service Front Brake Monitor" and "Front Brake Pads Low". Just before this incident the monitor showed front pads at 82% brake life and the rear pads at 84%. Upon my own inspection the driver side front brake pads are worn significantly more than the passenger side. Front brakes are also squealing when coming to a stop. Chevrolet dealership inspection/repair scheduled for 9/22/25.

The vehicle is registered to me; my mother was the driver at the time of the failure. At ~2,963 miles, the truck developed intermittent check engine and ABS warning lights. The dealer pulled DTC C058A (brake system control module) and P25A2. Per GM bulletin PIT6012A, the battery was replaced and a brake plunger motor sensor learn was performed. The same codes returned within weeks. The dealer then diagnosed internal failure of the brake master cylinder and reservoir, documented the vehicle as "unsafe to drive," and replaced both under warranty. The truck sat at the dealer over six weeks due to a nationwide parts backorder. Repairs were completed April 4, 2025. On May 2, 2025, at ~6,500 miles, the driver was traveling downhill on a city street in the rain at roughly 20 mph. The brake pedal suddenly became hard and resistant. Despite full-force pedal pressure, the vehicle could not be stopped. It entered an intersection, struck another vehicle, then struck a tree. Front and side airbags deployed; the vehicle was totaled. The driver sustained a concussion, broken finger, and severe back and knee injuries, was transported by ambulance, and required months of concussion treatment including vestibular therapy. The hard, resistant pedal is consistent with failure of the electronic brake boost assist (eBoost) system, leaving only unassisted hydraulic braking (roughly 4–5x normal pedal force). This matches other owner reports and the class action in Barron et al. v. GM LLC, which cites defective master cylinders with a missing internal cartridge seal on the same platform. The vehicle is no longer available for inspection. The driver was concussed with significant short-term memory loss at the scene; statements in the police report may not reflect the mechanical failure. Full police report available on request (exceeds 10 MB limit).

We purchased a used 2024 Chevy Colorado WT with a little over 4,500 miles on April 9th. A couple of days later before starting the vehicle the brake pedal would sink all the way down to the floor. This happened twice. So I made a service appointment with the Chevy dealer on April 14th. I told the service advisor that the brake pedal sank to the floor twice before starting the vehicle. He said they would take a look at it. When I went to pick up my vehicle the next day, the service advisor said the technician could not duplicate the problem. That same day, the brake pedal sank to the floor before starting the vehicle. So I made another service appointment the following week on April 23rd. I have videos to prove that the brake pedal would sink all the way to the floor before starting the vehicle. The service advisor told me that that technician duplicated the problem and they will order parts for it. The vehicle has been at the dealer since then. The service brake issue is a safety hazard that needs to be addressed.

On the afternoon of [XXX], I had an interesting incident in a parking lot while slowly pulling into a parking spot. As I began braking, the brake pedal suddenly sank to the floor, forcing me to engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. After restarting the truck, the pedal firmness returned, but I noticed a peculiar sound, likely originating from the ABS pump or solenoids. No warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, and no error codes were detected with my scanner. Additionally, I’ve observed that the front driver’s side wheel has significantly more brake dust compared to the passenger side. I brought this issue to the attention of the service advisor at Boulevard GMC in Signal Hill, CA. Boulevard GMC informed me that brake parts are currently on a nationwide backorder, and there is no estimated time of arrival for when GM will supply dealerships with replacement parts. We purchased a 2024 Chevy Colorado mid June and drove it successfully, without incident until the end of August when the vehicle had complete brake failure. My husband was driving on I-95 in morning rush hour traffic when the dashboard lit up flashing several different indicators and a message saying "Brake System Failure" and "Service ESC" He had no brakes but could slow somewhat by applying as much pressure as he could to the brake pedal. He got the car to the dealer that same morning, Grieco Cheverolet Delray. They worked on the car all day and we were called in the late afternoon to pick up. It was explained to us that GM advised their mechanics to restart the computer that controls that component and that the problem should be fixed. We were also told they were going to go ahead and order a replacement part in case "it happened again." This comment did not leave us with much confidence. Then, as we were checking out, the employee noticed there was no explanation of what had been done to the vehicle. He called the mechanic and said he refused to hand over the keys until notes were added explaining what was done to address this serious issue. So notes were made, copies were handed over, and off we went. The truck drove perfectly until exactly one week later when the dash lit up again with all kinds of alerts and lights stating, "Brake System Failure" and "Service ESC." That's right, no brakes again. We had the truck towed back to the dealer this time and we have been told they have ordered "the part" and it will probably be 3 weeks. That was one week ago and we have not heard anything yet. We have concerns over how nonchalant Cheverolet and the dealer seem to be about a brand new car having complete brake failure twice and no real explanation as to why. Can you advise? Thank you

Component/system issue: Intermittent loss of power assist to brakes after auto start-stop startup. Safety Risk: Unable to use brakes normally. Requires hard brake pedal pumping to get vehicle to stop. Reproduced by others: No. Doesn't happen every time. It has happened a total of three times (so far). Inspected by manufacturer: Yes. The first time, the dealer found low voltage DTC set. Replaced battery. Second time, dealer found low voltage DTC (P 0562) set. They contacted GM TAC who provided a file to patch the radio software. Third time, other (possibly related) electronics issues were also present which caused the vehicle to enter limp mode every time it's driven. They've replaced the ECU and the accelerator pedal, neither of which fixed that issue. They are now awaiting a wiring harness from GM to see if that is the root cause. Hopefully it also fixes the intermittent loss of power brakes after auto start-stop startup. Warning lamps/messages/other symptoms prior to failure: No symptoms prior to the failure. Upon startup caused by auto start-stop feature, the symptoms are as follows: All warning lamps illuminate and several messages display on the instrument cluster screen about loss of ESC, ABS, traction control, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and others. One by one, the warning lights go out within 1 minute, except ABS. Power assist for the brakes is not available while this light is illuminated. Within approx. 2 minutes, the ABS light goes out and brakes function normally again.

Check engine light with codes p0700 and p2796 has been happening for months with multiple failed repair attempts. Vehicle was returned to me by the dealer supposedly fixed. I drove it 15 minutes to the high school for an art fair my daughter was in. They (my family) rode with me home. Check engine light was on again. On the way home, the transmission was acting strange, not shifting properly. About half way home, it got stuck in a gear at 3500 or so rpms and would not shift. I tried the manual shifter, and it didn’t work. Stuck in gear. Concern was that we were approaching a hill when it did this, and I could not get the vehicle to shift to deliver the appropriate level of power I needed to ascend the hill. It thankfully did eventually shift, but it was scary for a few seconds, especially since I had my wife and all three of my kids in the vehicle. I dropped the vehicle off the next morning. It got stuck in gear at 3500 RPMS again on the way to the dealership. Two dealerships have made multiple failed attempts to fix the transmission issues. Several attempts to contact GM have gone without a response. No one in my family feels safe in the vehicle after what happened.
NHTSA #11732174
When coming to a stop the vehicle slams into 1st gear raising the RPMs and pushing the vehicle forward even when the brakes are being applied. No warning lights no other malfunction or symptoms. Has occurred this I first purchased the vehicle new in January of 2025. Has almost caused collisions. Never took it to the dealership due to the information I've gathered if was a common issue but I believe it is a major safety concern due to the vehicle lunging forward when the brakes are applied.

A few weeks ago the heat started performing intermittently, about half the time only blowing out cold air even with the temperature set to 85. I live in Minnesota and we have had numerous weeks of below 0 temperatures. Lo and behold, I find out there are widespread reports of the O ring seals on the radiator and heater hoses failing and causing coolant leaks. These leaks are significant enough to render the vehicle inoperable and with no cabin heating or cooling. This could lead to life-threatening situations in adverse weather conditions. It could also create dangerous roadside failure situation in heavy traffic, particularly on interstate highways. Dealers are aware of the issue and are currently repairing vehicles under warranty. However some dealers are telling owners that the cooling system is not part of the engine and drivetrain, and therefore is not covered under the original factory warranty if the vehicle has exceeded the initial bumper to bumper warranty limits. Dealers are also telling owners that parts are on backorder due to high demand, and that repair wait times could take weeks. The vehicle is unsafe to operate with a known coolant leak.

Even when new, the truck would abruptly down shift from 2nd to 1st, every now and then. Then with about 3000 miles on the truck its started doing every time, once the transmission is warmed up. It seemed to get better and then started again with about 4000 miles and kept getting worse. It got so bad that the truck would shudder and it almost felt like I was getting rear ended and you could hear knocking from the transmission. I then turned it in the dealer and when I got it back, the dealer stated that they had to replace a valve in the valve body.

2024 COLORADO TB purchased new on [XXX]. About 3 days later with 150 miles logged parked in my driveway I noticed OIL spots and leaking. Drove to dealer and they kept it for around 3 days. Dealer contacted GM to supply data points and information. GM had a bulletin placed for REAR MAIN OIL SEAL AND GASKET failure they attributed to faulty parts from original plant inside U.S. Dealer received authorization and billed warranty pulled tranny (allegedly) and replaced rear main oil seal gaskets to stop leaks. Had truck back in 3 days with much pressure and calls noting it was a brand new truck. A few quirks and lights I'm monitoring NOT related to this noted issue stated. GM was attempting to determine how many trucks these faulty gasket seals affected. Dealer was good about providing rental free and turned truck around quick. Extremely odd and quirky for brand new truck with 150 miles logged but I guess things happen it is what it is. I read all the other blogs and statements noted here so I wanted to include this one. I bought a 2024 Colorado Trail Boss on May 31 and after a week the truck broke down I made a stop in a T intersection, once I had a clear path I started to accelerate and in that moment the truck jerked and at the same time I heard a loud noise under the back of the car. It felt like if I had been accelerating in neutral and suddenly changed gear to drive. After that, the car continue moving but after a few seconds the truck started to lose power and going super slow I tried to accelerate but the truck did not respond. I was able to pull off the road and stop in a parking lot. after that the truck no longer moved forward or backward regardless of what gear the car was in...the car didn't move again. he truck was towed to a Chevrolet dealer, and after two weeks, the service advisor informed me that the issue was with the transmission valve body. When this happen my family was with me in the truck, Luckily, nothing serious happened and I was able to get off the road.

Right turn signal auto cancel activates the left lane change signal resulting in oncoming traffic assuming a left turn to be performed but this vehicle continues straight resulting in a collision hazard. This has been happening since the purchase of the vehicle 2.5 years ago but dealer is unwilling to fix.
NHTSA #11710728
After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the vehicle will signal a left turn for 3 blinks.
NHTSA #11700245
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while attempting to activate the right turn signal, the left turn signal was displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with an overcorrection and overcancellation of the signals. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the failure was confirmed, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The VIN was not available.
NHTSA #11728713
After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the vehicle will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I can feel and hear a clicking from the turn signal switch when initiating the signal to turn right. GM issued TSB 24-NA-235 which was performed on my 2024 Colorado but it did not resolve the problem.
NHTSA #11671229
Vehicle headlights provide very poor lighting in fog or in rain at night. It is impossible to see highway lane markings.

I'm having an issue with my 2024 Colorado Trail Boss. After making a right hand turn with the signal on, once the stalk bounces back, it overcorrects and 'taps' the indicator and flashes left 3 times. I've seen some other owners having this issue on online forums throughout the Colorado and GMC canyon lineup. I think it's a pretty big safety concern to give improper navigation signals, 50% of the time I take a right hand turn.
NHTSA #11603058
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a right turn, the left turn signal activated independently. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed. The dealer was unaware of how to service the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage is unknown.

ABS check engine light came on after initially taking the vehicle in because of the brakes feeling weird and making noise. This similar issue has been experience by multiple users reported on a Chevy Colorado group page on facebook to include 2 cases of individuals, one with a Colorado and another with a GNC Canyon, both GM vehicles, that had their brakes fail while operating the vehicles. This was a concerning issue because, in my case, while I drove the vehicle, I was able to punch the brake pedal all the way to the floor while the vehicle was slowing down. The vehicle and part were inspected about 3 different times with the final time, and with video proof of an odd noise it was making, which then caused the dealership service department to actually check the brake pump which then they found to be faulty and needed replacing. This also took about a month and a half of wait time because the part was on backorder. I also spoke to Chevrolet directly where they did not seem to be aware nor cared at the fact I explained to them many owners experienced this same issue and did not acknowledge my concern for safety of the vehicle itself.
NHTSA #11667970
While driving in heavy and slow moving traffic at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle in front stopped. The forward collision and automatic emergency braking failed to activate. These safety features are not a replacement for active driving attention, but if they properly function and activate, they could have prevented the rear end collision that occurred.
NHTSA #11650386
About 30 minutes after driving at low/ moderate speeds, the emergency automatic braking system and five other braking systems failed while the vehicle was in motion. Parking brake was used but nothing worked until the car was in neutral and came to a natural stop. Almost caused an accident.

Bought my son 16 year old a new truck, truck only has 517 miles on it. He was driving 45 miles/hour on street, dashboard warning lights all lit up ABS, Brake and Check Engine. Brakes failed. Was able to pull into a parking lot eventually but a very serious safety issue/concern and this truck should be recalled immediately.
NHTSA #11580007
The forward collision avoidance system which controls the automatic emergency braking is showing as unavailable. This is after the parking brake warning light comes on and the brake master cylinder or BCM or both makes clicking noises after driving.

Mid December 2025 my forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and auto high beams all stopped working. I combined the repair request with my next oil change Dec 22, 2025. The Chevy dealer, Serra, advised me that Chevrolet had no way to correct these problems, one of which was a $950 option. I have returned to the dealer more times, still no fix. I have talked to Chevrolet customer service, asked for a buy back, or car to drive till repairs and was denied. Chevrolet simply says just wait till we figure out how to fix our broken truck. I feel Serra Chevrolet has done all they can and has otherwise provided me with excellent service. Since the problems include safety features and I have waited over 4 months to date, I hope your agency can expedite the repair and secure some type of compensation for me.

My dog and I were headed to Home Depot on [XXX] when without any warning there was a very loud boom. My first thought was that we had been shot at. Once I gathered myself I realized the sunnroof glass had exploded. I rarely open the sunroof but do on occasion have the shade open, luckily it wasn’t open or my dog and I would have been sprayed with the glass which could have caused serious eye injury and potentially a crash. I’ve had 2 Chevy dealers tell me that is not a warranty issue that it was likely caused by a rock being thrown up. I do not believe this was the case. The closest vehicle was some 500 feet in front of us. Because it was such a violent explosion I believe it was a pressure explosion. I am also very surprised that the glass is tempered and not laminated. I have insurance so I’m not concerned with getting it repaired. I just want you to know I think it a very serious issue. Check engine light came on and the dealership said it was because the coolant was low due to the radiator hose leaking. I was told by the actual mechanic that they’ve had to do a lot of radiator hoses and that it is a known defect with the Colorados and the traverses but that GM hasn’t done a recall on them yet. That is what brings me here. My truck is only 2 years old and this shouldn’t be happening right now. Thank you for taking the time to review this and I hope GM addresses the matter promptly.

Cold weather random single quiet chime heard over radio. Random times no duplicating. Sometimes at stop light with brake pressed it will chime once. Other time as you take off from stop sign single quiet chime heard. Other times as you are driving it will do this. Only factor is that is when its cold outside. Vehicle drives fine and no lights on dash indicating an issue. Roads clear no snow or ice. Cleaned all 3 cameras and still same issue when cold outside. Not sure if this is affecting any safety features on vehicle or not or something chevy needs to address in an update to fix. I am not the only one with this issue as I have read a lot on facebook posts and internet forums for this
NHTSA #11631999
After making a right turn, when you bring the steering wheel back it will turn on the left turn signal for 3+ flashes instead of just canceling out the right turn. So after most right turns, the left blinker will come on when straightening back out. This is a bigger safety issue than GM is leading on. I have had two "close calls" because of it. People will pull out on frontage roads because they think I am immediately making a left turn after a right turn. This issue is tracked all the way back to early 2023. There are forums all over and I would guess there are thousands of people dealing with this issue now. All I have seen is a bulletin issued by GM but none of the fixes actually fix the problem.

I was driving the truck and first I got a "Software Update Needed Vehicle must be parked and off" this was followed quickly be a "low tire pressure alarm" 3 times in a short distance then I got a message "Antilock brake issue do not drive over 62 MPH or vehicle may not stop" then the brakes began to randomly slam on and release and smoke began to come out of the air vents. The next alarm was "ESV Shutting down " and I lost power steering and brakes; I tried getting the vehicle off the road out of the traffic lanes and the smoke was rapidly increasing in the cab then the engine shut down and I did my best to get the truck out of the traffic lanes and flames started coming from under the hood. A man stopped to help me out of the truck and by then the engine compartment was fully involved quickly and spreading into the interior of the cab. This all happened on country roads at about 40 MPH. I went to the medical center 2 days later as I was still having problems breathing from all the smoke. This was a new truck I bought in early November and only had 6900 miles on it.

Not sure if this is your typical safety issue. Voice activation button @ RH side of steering wheel failed approx. one month after vehicle purchase. This button allows one to call out, use GPS, vehicle functions, radio, etc "handsfree". Message @ infotainment screen stated "click here to purchase subscription" which I was not made aware of by anyone involved w/ sale. Cell phone will link up w/ vehicle manually for sending or receiving calls, but requires holding phone to start or end them (and pick who you want to call)...which is illegal in California and unsafe. Inquiring w/ Onstar led to having to pay for monthly subcription to "reenable" functionality. Seeing as this IS a safety item, I wonder why I would be required to pay a monthly 45.00 fee for it to function. Had a 2015 Ford that worked perfectly...for free

I purchased this Chevrolet Colorado knowing there was a potential problem in which the vehicle's battery is drained overnight during an over the air update; I had hoped GM would have a fix by now (but it does not seem they do). From what I've read, along with my own experience, the vehicle is prompted to update software, but in the process of updating, the "computer" system freezes, though the software continues to try and update, thus draining the battery dead. When this happened to me I measured the battery voltage at 4.4 volts...which in many cases can be lethal to a 12-volt battery. Fortunately I was able to get a boost from a tow truck driver, who then drove my vehicle onto his truck. The dangerous part of this problem is timing. I camp and overland in remote areas. Should this happen when I am miles from service or outside of cell range, I could be vulnerable to all sorts of negative forces. Fortunately, the vehicle was seen at a local dealership, but aside from fixing an unrelated recall and updating the stereo, best I understood I am still vulnerable to this problem occurring again.

After using turn signal for a right turn and the wheel straightens back out, the left turn signal comes on for 3-4 blinks. Has caused confusion and have had vehicles turn in front of me. Safety concern.
NHTSA #11618420
The turn signal system intermittently malfunctions. When using the turn signal, the auto-cancel function sometimes activates the opposite signal, and at times the stalk does not stay engaged when attempting to signal. This creates a safety risk because surrounding drivers may receive the wrong turning/lane-change indication or no indication at all. The issue has occurred intermittently while driving and has been presented to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Florida multiple times. Cox Chevrolet has verified turn-signal over-cancel and performed prior repairs/programming. However, the issue has not been entirely resolved and continues to occur intermittently. No crash or injury has occurred, but the condition creates a risk of collision during turns, merges, and lane changes

While driving my 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, both the infotainment system and the instrument cluster reboot unexpectedly. During these reboots, the speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights are unavailable for at least 30 seconds. This has occurred multiple times at highway speeds, creating a serious safety concern because I cannot see my speed or critical vehicle information while the system resets. Restarting the vehicle sometimes restores functionality, but the issue recurs intermittently. I have checked with my dealer, and no permanent fix or recall has been issued by GM at this time. This defect poses a risk to driver and passenger safety and should be investigated promptly.

problem since day 1. Instrument cluster goes dark frequently. no speedometer or gauges are illuminated. may stay dark for long periods of time and other times it is shorter periods. sometimes smacking it will bring it back up. sometimes not. cluster changed 2 times by dealer. problem continues. code read problem with harness connector showed up once but they cleared it and it hasn't come back. panel went dark 12 times the other day in 30 miles. dealer is now ignoring it! 80 year old man driving at night with no instrumentation is a serious hazard and POTENTIAL lawsuit!!

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, and the brake pedal was depressed the pedal remained floored. The contact stated that the vehicle eventually slowed down on its own and came to a complete stop. The was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred a little over a month later. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery was dead and the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred approximately 17 days later. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the drivers door wire harness needed to be replaced due to an electrical issue that killed the battery. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred approximately four months later. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer where the vehicle has yet to be diagnosed as of yet. The manufacturer notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,400.

I purchaced a new 2024 Chevy colorado, the truck had 193 miles on the odometer when the brakes failed. When I stepped on the brake to put my truck into gear the pedal became spongy and brakes were severely diminished. I had to force the pedal to the floor to stop the truck at idle. I shut the truck off and restarted, it continued. I called the dealer, they sent a truck with trailer to take it back to the shop. They verified the condition and diagnosed the problem. I was told the EBC and master cylinder failed. The warning on the dash came on at the same time as I realized the brakes were not working.

Vehicle: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss Mileage: Approximately 14,000 miles I am submitting this complaint because the ABS braking system on my vehicle activates unexpectedly and causes a temporary loss of braking when driving over uneven pavement. When braking over potholes, bumps, or rough road surfaces at low to moderate speeds, the ABS system engages even though traction is available. When this happens, brake pressure is reduced to the point where the vehicle does not slow as expected. The ABS warning indicator flashes briefly, and there is a noticeable delay before normal braking resumes. This behavior has occurred multiple times in normal driving conditions on city streets, not during panic stops or slippery conditions. The issue feels most pronounced when approaching intersections or slowing in traffic over broken pavement, where consistent braking is critical. The momentary reduction in braking force significantly increases stopping distance and creates a safety concern. The vehicle has low mileage, has not been modified, and is maintained as delivered from the manufacturer. There are no warning lights remaining on after the event, and the issue appears to be related to ABS calibration rather than driver input or road conditions. This does not feel like normal ABS operation and gives the impression that braking is interrupted at the exact moment it is needed. Given the frequency and repeatability of the issue, I believe this represents a potential safety defect that could contribute to a collision, particularly in urban driving environments with uneven road surfaces. I am submitting this complaint to document the issue and to request that the ABS braking behavior on this vehicle be reviewed for safety.

Sunroof exploded while driving down the highway. Glass shattered everywhere in the interior as well all over our child car seat. Fortunately I was the only person in the truck at the time. Due to the violence of the incident I had to gain control due to the sound and flying glass. Had all windows and sunroof close with the AC on. Was going approximately 65 mph. Clear sunny day. The components failing are the (ADAS) components. Specific concerns are with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, front facing detection camera, and blindside detection. The front facing camera will randomly deactivate prompting a message to check for obstructions as a possibly reason of failure. Upon checking, and also wiping the lense, there is not obstrution. Blindside detection operates at random and at times will stay on for a sustained period without any vehicles near or around my vehicle. This is especially bad at night because the light is extremely bright and directed into the drivers vision. Adaptive cruise control will falsely detect vehicles or objects that are not present and implement emergency braking before recognizing there is no vehicle/object and then speed up. Sometimes this will happen consecutively in repetition. This is especially concerning because it has happened at interstate speeds as well as highway speeds with traffic behind me during the day time. It would brake aggressively taking my speed from 65 mph down to 40 mph and the change to a wide open throttle to regain speed only to brake again. Sometimes it will just keep slowing until I turn off cruise control. All of this happens without notice or indication other than the blindside warning lamps during its failure. It has happened often enough that I can not use the cruise control confidently. I have had it into the dealership for inspection and they claim there were no codes and could not reproduce the symptoms during a brief test drive. They however inform me that the front facing camera mentioned earlier does all the sensing for these components but did not get a reaction from it. I do experience one or more of these problems daily. I have also experienced false pedestrian warnings from the system early on but that has not happened for 3 months currently. I welcome requested inspection to hopefully get this fixed for my safety and those around me.

1) All the sensors on the truck relating to the auto emergency breaking, pass sensors, cruise control ETC are malfunctioning, truck was at 10,000 miles at the time and brand new. 2) This feature contributed to an accident on Jan 14 2025. I could not see because of the sun and rear ended the car in front of me. 3)The DTC report on the truck came back and stated 6 errors relating to the systems and sensors to include a data memory loss. 4)Took in for servicing at the dealership and they refused to touch the issue. GM is inspecting the truck Feb 13. 5) There were warning indicators however I though it had to do with ice blockage from a snow storm. That morning I cleaned all the cameras off and did not immediately notice it and assumed it went away. It seems the the warning does not immediately come on takes approximately 1-2 minutes. There is no differentiating a software-servicing issue with a camera blockage.

Vehicle intermittently lunges forward during the 2nd-to-1st downshift, even while the brakes are being applied. When this occurs, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerates or surges forward slightly, travels farther than anticipated, and feels similar to being bumped from behind. Because the condition occurs at low speeds, often in tight areas such as parking spaces, stop-and-go traffic, or before a crosswalk, it creates a risk of collision with pedestrians, vehicles, or objects. The issue has been reported to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Florida multiple times, but continues to happen.

The upper radiator hose on some huge percentage of these trucks fail (mine has failed at just over 35k miles).

I have a 2024 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss that needs an Upper Radiator Coolant Hose. But apparently this is on nationwide backorder because although there is not a recall GM put a bulletin out they are aware of the issue that appears to be a degraded seal inside hose fitting so the whole hose needs replacing. I live in [XXX] and it is not available here and I have called OH, [XXX] , [XXX] and other state dealerships and Noone will sell that part because of the backorder. My truck has 40k miles. And every dealer I called this is a huge issue with these trucks. So it is not a wear issue when it is on nationwide backorder and it'll take 1-2 weeks +/- to get. My warranty won't cover as they say it is a wear part and no recall. So how can there be no recall on a nationwide issue with these trucks. My truck cant be driven right now due to check engine light, low coolant, leaking hose, fan blowing high, no heat and this is all related to this backordered part. Someone told me to report this issue so that is what I am doing now. Again this should be an active recall. At 20,300 miles, severe chassis and steering wheel vibration occurred during high-speed highway descents while braking. Safety risk: reduced steering control at highway speed. The vehicle was inspected by a franchised Chevrolet dealer in Lakewood, CO. The technician's written service notes document rear rotor Lateral Runout (LRO) of 0.006 inches against GM's maximum allowable specification of 0.002 inches per GM Service Bulletin 00-05-22-002 — 3x the engineering limit. The defect was confirmed in dealer documentation and is available for inspection. After I identified this discrepancy, the Service Manager claimed the technician meant 0.006 mm (metric). Photographic evidence from the dealer's own diagnostic video shows a dial indicator clearly labeled in 0.001-inch increments with the needle resting on the 6th tick mark. A metric reading of 0.0002 inches is physically impossible to display as 6 full divisions on this tool. GM Customer Assistance denied the warranty claim, classifying it as maintenance. Lateral Runout is a geometric specification, not a wear measurement. A rotor 3x out of tolerance at 20,300 miles is a material or assembly defect. No warning lamps appeared. The safety concern remains unresolved.

Visibly observed antifreeze / coolant leaking from top radiator hose where it connects to the radiator. Dealer replaced upper radiator o-ring but it's still leaking. At 17000 miles a service brake warning message showed up on information screen. Front brake rotors are warped. Dealer states normal wear on front brakes. Also the dealership stated the front left inner brake pad was down to 2mm of pad left. Wanted over $420 to turn rotors and replace pads. I inquired why the left front pads were worn so much than the right side. They stated this was normal!

2024 Chevrolet Colorado with intermittent safety defect at highway speeds. Vehicle displays P215B along with Service ESC, Service Traction Control, and Reduced Acceleration. Speedometer becomes erratic and the vehicle loses reliable speed signal at highway speed. Dealer kept vehicle for 15 days, stated repairs were made, but the same issue returned within about 2 miles of pickup on the highway. Vehicle was returned to dealer immediately. As of April 2, total days out of service will be 21. I do not believe the vehicle is safe to drive or safe to transport my family in. GM case has been opened. I have had this truck for about 3 weeks and the first day I brought it home the Parking brake was engaged upon starting the truck along with the collision light. It finally came off and drove the truck. Took it to the dealer they checked it and said it was fine per their assessment. Couple days later it happened again took back to dealer as the collision and parking brake light and brakes were stuck again, they again ran their computer diagnostic system no issues. Drove it for about 3 days and now it occurred again today, collision light and parking brake engaged. After about 15 minutes of trying to disengage the parking brake I shut the truck off, then one last time I started it back up and the brake disengaged. I then drove it back to the dealer today.

1.) While driving signalling for a right hand turn and then subsequently completing the right hand turn, the vehicle then signals left on its own accord. This is distracting for the driver and confusing to other motorists on the road. 2.) Blind spot monitoring system frequently turns on and or blinks rapidly (effects both driver and passenger side mirrors sporadically) when no other vehicles in the same vicinity. Distracting to driver who then is prompted to look around for vehicles that are not there. Quite often the trucks blind spot monitors light up when not a single other vehicle is on the road anywhere. This takes place on full size two lane roads and wide open multi lane highways where there are no objects near the vehicle whatsoever.

The turn signals to not function correctly and give inaccurate signals to other drivers. Most (perhaps all) times, when signaling a right turn, after the right turn signal deactivates, the switch "overcorrects" and signals a left lane change (three blinks to the left). This no doubt leads to confusion to other drivers and could cause a accident. Turn signal must work flawlessly! This problem has been broadly reported on the Chevy Colorado internet forum.

Steering Column cover was rattling and felt coming apart. When Right side Turn signal was activated and the turn was completed, automatically left side turn signal was activated. Both of the above concerns were addressed by the GM Chevrolet authorized dealer on 8/26/2024. Again the Turn signal started malfunctioning as stated above, and the vehicle is now at the same GM authorized dealer for service with additional AC compressor failure. Date: 5/28/2025.

After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the vehicle will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I believe this is because the turn signal stalk 'bounces' down to the left turn signal area when returning back to normal position from a right turn. This is a safety issue because the vehicle is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended. This could cause confusion to other drivers on the road.

These features no longer work in the vehicle. There may be others that I have not noticed yet. Chevrolet requires you to purchase a Onstar subscription at the price of 25.99 a month for these safety features to work. It also requires Onstar for the talk button on steering wheel to work along with talk to text. No longer shows the current posted speed limit on road on dash. No longer shows map on dash cluster. These are what I have noticed so far.

I was driving the vehicle up a mountain, in a 70m speed zone, when the dash board lit up. The vehicle started to decelerate, I pushed the gas petal but it just decelerated. I put on the emergency light and continued to the exit. Stopping in Liberty Pa, at an Exxon station. Called GM roadside assistance. On-Demand Diagnostics stated: ECM-Engine System code P00700. TCM P0658, TCM P2729, and P281D. Odometer reading 3840. Remaining oil life: 49%. Our safety was compromised by the unexpected deceleration of the vehicle and possibly being stranded on the road. Was luck to get off the highway safely. The car was towed to Jack McNerney Chevrolet, Inc. 363 NYS Rt13, Tully, NY 13159 +13156968976. The car has been at the dealer since the night of [XXX]. Have been told that the car is not drivable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Date: [XXX] | Location [XXX] Leaving Costco 1 ½ after entering entrance headed to Savannah. I was traveling at approximately 60 miles a hour with heavy traffic alongside me and a tractor trailer behind me when I felt my Truck quickly de-accelerate on its on. Then I saw the “Sudden Warning on Dashboard, “Reduced Acceleration – Drive with Care” then the 2nd Warning on Dashboard, “ Service Traction Control.” I was almost REAR ENDED by the Tractor Trailer. I was never so startled but I keep my nerve….got over to the right lane at slowed speed (It was weird. Speed slowed but felt like I was in high gear….) I droves about a ½ mile …. got off at next exit and pulled over at gas station. I turned car completely off and tried to reset computers, but it would not. I decided to drive under 35 miles a hour on side streets to Dan Vaden dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
