The module that controls the car’s electronics is located inside a special protective bag. A hole developed in this bag, and water leaked inside. The module is now completely submerged in water. When we started the car, many error messages appeared, but after we turned the car off and tried to start it again, the car would no longer start.

A recall notice was sent on November 2024 informing us that the vehicle's high-voltage battery modules may experience a thermal overload possibly resulting in smoke or fire. In addition, we were notified that a defective high-voltage battery cell modules may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire. The recall notice indicated to contact the manufacturer, Audi, to remedy the recall. We contacted Audi multiple times starting on November 2024 for the manufacture to remedy this safety recall. We have yet to receive any information as to the timeframe to remedy the recall or have had Audi reach out setting an appointment for diagnostics or replacement of the defective battery. We have been concern for the safety of ourselves and the vehicle given the current recall.

My car cut off while I was driving [XXX]. My family including my [XXX] was in the car when the car shut off mid drive. No warning nothing. Power was on but the steering wheel locked and the brake pedal was firm. I could not switch gears nothing. It's a Sunday so I had the car towed to my home. 10/7 I have the car towed to Bell Audi in Edison NJ and was told it's my alternator. I work from home, I barely drive 10 miles a week. I use my car to pick my daughter up from school which is close to home. I have researched and found this is a common issue with Audi cars that are not old. At 13k miles I should not have this issue. We could've died on the highway as that is where I was heading towards. I checked my vin and found this is a common issue which is not acceptable as we almost died in the car as it stopped short and scared all of us and locked up. Engine7 quejas

2022 Audi Q5 (VIN: [XXX] ). Engine lubrication system failure — persistent abnormal oil consumption across two separate engines over 14 months. Beginning March 2025, the low engine oil warning light began activating repeatedly, sometimes after as few as 300 miles. AutoNation Audi Bellevue confirmed 1 quart low and initiated oil consumption tests. Their technician noted in writing that oil found externally was "not enough to cause a 1 quart low oil light" — meaning the root cause was never identified. A PCV valve replacement was attempted July 2025; the warning returned after only 300 miles — same as before the fix. Audi of America approved a full engine replacement in September 2025, completed December 2025. Within weeks of pickup in January 2026, the low oil warning activated again on the brand new engine, and again after 4,000 miles in April 2026. The defect has persisted across two engines despite multiple repair attempts. Audi now claims consumption is "within spec" at 0.16 qt/1,000 miles but has not explained why the warning light keeps activating. Safety risk: unpredictable oil loss risks sudden engine seizure at highway speeds with insufficient warning to stop safely. Confirmed and inspected by AutoNation Audi Bellevue and Audi of America. Vehicle available for inspection. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

3 times while driving engine stalled. Car will restart after coasting off road & restarting it. Been to two Audi dealers under warranty. Car displayed no fault code. Only happens occasionally so neither dealer has seen the problem to fix it. My wife has video of the last engine stall but still no fix. We don’t trust or feel car is safe to drive.

NHTSA #11576945

Vehicle had first oil change at 10K miles on 1/1/2023 In April of 2023 started noticing smoke and a burning smell coming out of the engine, took car in to dealership. They stated on 4/25/2023 that there was a "small oil leak," and that they repaired and cleaned up the leakage but they wanted to drive the vehicle once more before they released it to me. I have this all in a text message. 12/20/2023 took vehicle in for 20K service and they said there is a major leakage they said in a video they sent me: "found lots of oil on top of the engine, the bolts that hold the Cambridge (not sure if thats what he said/spelling) down are loose, so we will be pulling this all apart and resealing and replacing all those bolts to fix those leaks"

The vehicle’s engine failed and ignited a fire. There is an active safety recall for the engine connecting rod of this vehicle. NHTSA recall number, 22V753. My husband was assigned a loaner vehicle owned by Audi Ontario with an active manufacture safety recall. The dealership was aware of the recall. The recall was not disclosed and the defective vehicle had not been inspected or repaired by Audio Ontario. My husband and my 3 year son were in the defective vehicle on the freeway when it malfunctioned. The engine burst into flames and began to lose function while driving in the carpool lane. The engine ultimately exploded on the side of the freeway with my husband and child nearly escaping with their lives. This incident resulted in both sustaining injuries and trauma. Audi Ontario’s negligence was reckless, dangerous, and displayed a complete disregard for human life. I believe Audi Ontario’s should be thoroughly investigated due to the threat they pose to public safety and recall laws they ignored. Audi Ontario breached their duty to provide a safe vehicle as a loaner, failed to disclose the defective’s vehicle recall or repair status, continuously loaned out an unrepaired recalled vehicle, committed gross negligence resulting in injures, trauma, and child endangerment. The dealer still has not disclosed recall status or repairs of the defective vehicle. I believe the dealer is trying to cover up their negligence and safety violations. It is unknown if the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacture, police, or insurance representatives. Shortly after entering the carpool lane, my husband noticed the “check engine" light come on and the vehicle began to smoke. The engine burst into flames and began to lose function while attempting to exit the freeway. Once parked on the shoulder of the freeway, the vehicle was immediately turned off. Shortly after the engine exploded.

I'm concerned about the engine connecting rod recall. I'm not too faithful of a dealer replacing the engine if that's what needed. If it is and we have problems, I will want a new q5.

NHTSA #11499778

There is an open recall (action number 13i5) for this vehicle, and I've scheduled the appointment with the dealership in Morton Grove, Chicago. But they said they don't how much time they can fix the issue, maybe a month or longer if the engine needs to be replaced. And they can't not provide me with a loaner because there is no one available. I contacted the Audi, and they also said they don't know how long will it take to fix the vehicle, which is ridiculous as no ones knows how long will it take to fix the issue.

Our '22 Audi Q5 experienced a spontaneous sunroof implosion while driving on the highway. Temperature would not have been a considering factor here, nor did anything hit the sunroof but it exploded and showered the occupants with glass - both pebble-sized pieces and small shards. The curtain was open at the time and glass went everywhere. Thankfully, the driver had the good sense to pull over immediately without an accident. This incident interrupted their trip, they had to find someone to tape a plastic cover over the gaping hole, then have the sunroof replaced, all at considerable expense and hassle. This was both a very dangerous AND frightening experience. Audi headquarters was contacted and denied any responsibility, saying that we need to handle this through our insurance company which I find outrageous as it has been recorded that quite a few Audis have experienced this same situation. It should be covered under their warranty!!

This car has an active recall according to Audi, but it doesn't show up in the NHTSA's system. After reviewing the vehicle history, this car was imported and the bond wasn't released until 4/29/2025, given that, the dealership listed the car for sale April 4th and sold it to me April 22, 2025, SEVEN days before the bond was released. I also believe the FMVSS compliance sticker is fake as it's able to peel off the car in one piece with ease. There was also an active lien on the car from the previous owner. This dealership operates not only as a dealership but also the RI, owns the car repair garages reporting to Carfax but is also an insurance broker! Being a Registered Importer, dealer, garage owner, and insurance broker gives one person/business total control over importing, certifying, repairing, insuring, and selling vehicles. This makes it easy to forge documents, fake compliance (like FMVSS stickers), wash titles, and hide fraud with little outside oversight.

I own a 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid, and due to an unresolved recall (93AA), the vehicle’s plug-in hybrid functionality has been completely disabled since November 2024. The vehicle was designed to operate as a PHEV, but it can now only run on gasoline, significantly altering its intended use and efficiency. Audi has failed to provide a repair timeline or offer a loaner vehicle while the recall remains unresolved. Additionally, Audi of America has refused to buy back the vehicle, despite it no longer functioning as advertised. This situation raises serious concerns about the reliability of Audi’s hybrid and EV systems, as well as their ability to support affected customers. This recall effectively eliminates a core safety and performance feature of the vehicle, as owners relying on electric operation are forced to use gasoline instead. Given the uncertainty surrounding a fix, I am concerned about Audi’s ability to resolve this issue in a reasonable timeframe. Please see the attached complaint I made to my Utah attorney general's office.

The horn does not honk unless the engine is running. On the FIRST day I drove my new car, I was waiting in my car for my husband. I was parked. A truck behind me backed up, almost hitting my car. I tried to honk, no horn! I jumped out of my car and screamed. At the same time another man told him to stop. Today woman keep their keys IN THEIR purse to access their cars. If they are in danger, prior to starting their car, an AUDI IS NOT THE CAR TO BE IN. This is dangerous. I have to leave my radio on, or the screen will not work. The decisions on this car need to be addressed.

While driving my 2022 Audi Q5 on Interstate I-35 at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly applied braking while traveling on a wet roadway. The braking felt unexpected and the vehicle lost traction and control. The vehicle skidded and struck a concrete barrier. The side airbag deployed during the crash. Fortunately, my family survived the accident. I am unsure whether this event was caused by road conditions or a possible malfunction related to braking, stability control, or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), but I am reporting the incident for safety review.

The contact owned a 2022 Audi Q5. The contact stated that after completing an oil change at Jiffy Lube, the contact was informed that there was a minor oil leak coming from the oil pan to the top of the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the oil leak might have happened during the oil change and recommended the oil plug replacement. Additionally, the contact stated while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to make a turn, the driver depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and drove off at 40-50 MPH in front of vehicles that were stopped at the red traffic light. The vehicle then hit the curb and was propelled 4-5 feet in the air. The vehicle then hit a hill and drove on top of the hill in a parking lot. The driver depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The air bags deployed. The hazard lights were illuminated. The contact's wife sustained a back injury and could not exit the vehicle. I was parking my car in a driveway on clear and sunny day. As I put the car into reverse, the engine suddenly accelerated. The car then spun around and moved sideways causing me to crash into the garage along the length of the car on passenger side. The garage was heavily damaged as were two other cars in the garage. I was not injured except for mild bruising and stiffness in neck and shoulders. Air bags did not deploy. My car had to be towed away. Three weeks earlier, the RF ACC sensor/module J428 was repaired by the Audi dealership in New London. It was out of alignment due to collision/damage to right front bumper from hit and run driver in a parking lot in June.

Lane Departure2 quejas

The Audi Lane Assist system persistently malfunctions and has done so since March 2022. The malfunctions cause the vehicle to pull towards the lane lines - and even outside of the lane lines - rather than keeping the vehicle within the lane lines as the system is intended to do. These Lane Assist malfunctions have occurred on busy highways, winding and narrow mountain roads, and wide lanes - all of which scenarios could cause serious accidents resulting in serious bodily injury or death. The vehicle has been at the dealership multiple times - and for over 36 days - without the defect being repaired. The dealer acknowledges that the Lane Assist system does not function properly in our vehicle and noted that this is not the only vehicle for which this system does not work properly.

NHTSA #11506857

The Audi Lane assist persistently malfunctions and and cause the vehicle to pull towards the lane lines - and even outside of the lane lines - rather than keeping the vehicle within the lane lines as the system is intended to do. The Lane Assist malfunctions could cause an unintended collision with other vehicles, pedestrians, or other objects. On a winding mountain road, the Lane Assist malfunctions could pull the vehicle over the edge of a steep cliff, which could have catastrophic consequences. It has been at the dealership multiple times, yet the dealer has been unable to repair the defect. The dealer acknowledges that the Lane Assist system does not function properly in at least one other Audi vehicle.

Power Train1 queja

Vehicle: 2022 Audi Q5 VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: 60,221 DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring all-wheel-drive (AWD) system defect on my 2022 Audi Q5 that has persisted despite a prior repair performed under the factory warranty. SYMPTOMS: I have been experiencing the following symptoms primarily during tight turns, U-turns, and low-speed maneuvering such as in parking lots: - Jerking and lurching of the vehicle during turns - Grinding and clunking noises from the drivetrain during turns - Vibrations felt through the vehicle during turns - Symptoms occur at both low speeds and highway speeds REPAIR HISTORY: Approximately 1.5 years ago, while my vehicle was still under the Audi factory warranty, I brought my vehicle to an authorized Audi dealership for the exact same symptoms. The dealer performed an AWD fluid drain and refill per Audi Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #2059057, which specifically addresses AWD clutch noise and vibration during turns on 2021-2023 Audi Q5 models. The dealer indicated the issue was resolved. RECURRENCE: The identical symptoms have since returned. My vehicle is now out of its factory warranty period. The dealer has not provided a permanent fix despite following the manufacturer's own TSB procedure. The repair performed under warranty has clearly failed to resolve the underlying defect. SAFETY CONCERN: The jerking and loss of smooth drivetrain control during turns, particularly at low speeds in parking lots and during U-turns, represents a safety hazard as it affects the driver's ability to maintain predictable vehicle control. This issue is especially dangerous in situations requiring precise maneuvering such as parking, merging, and navigating tight spaces. ADDITIONAL NOTES: - Audi TSB #2059057 acknowledges this as a known defect affecting 2021-2023 Q5 models - The same repair has failed to provide a lasting fix - Multiple owners of 2021-2023 Audi Q5 vehicles have reported identical INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle: 2022 Audi Q5 (VIN [XXX] ) Mileage at incident: ~20,000 Component: Powertrain – Engine / Turbocharger – Sudden Loss of Power NARRATIVE: On or about [XXX], my 2022 Audi Q5 experienced a sudden loss of engine power while driving approximately 60 mph. The vehicle began vibrating/shaking severely, jerking on acceleration, and displayed warnings including “Drive system: Please switch engine off” along with a check engine light. The vehicle entered reduced power/limp mode, creating a hazardous situation in traffic at highway speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Audi dealer in Wayzata BLVD Minneapolis who diagnosed catastrophic internal engine failure and documented metallic debris in the engine oil. Audi replaced the engine with a new long block (warranty repair). However, despite confirmed metal contamination in the oil system, Audi directed the dealer to flush and reuse the turbocharger rather than replace it. The turbocharger is supplied by engine oil and may retain embedded metal in its bearing assembly, creating an ongoing risk of turbo bearing seizure/failure and another sudden loss of power at highway speed. I am reporting this because (1) the vehicle already experienced sudden power loss at highway speed, and (2) the repair decision to reuse a contamination-exposed turbocharger may create continued risk of sudden loss of power and unsafe operation. Dealer repair: Engine replaced; turbocharger reused after “flush.” Current safety status: I do not feel the vehicle is safe for highway driving due to risk of turbo failure and sudden power loss. Requested action: Please log and review similar complaints for potential investigation related to sudden loss of power and contamination-exposed turbo reuse in warranty repairs. I started the car and , put it in reverse and the rear back up camera never turned on as required when backing up today. Rear camera didnt activate but the parking light on the audi was red as usual indicating it was activated. However the screen just went to its default app page (settings, carplay, etc.) I was unable to see pedestrians as I backed out of the grocery shopping center parking spot. Yes. Audi dealership keeps telling me there is no update and that my software version 3606 is the latest software( I have told the dealer, I have a black screen without apps, only LTE and clock show up occasionally) they have done a factory reset and so have i without resolution. No warning lights came on, it just said welcome (user name) and went to the regular media screen. I have a 2mb 7 second video of the incident I took with my iphone if needed

There is some issue with emission system for Audi Q5 which results in Oil Warning light coming on. It looks like that this is a common issue as there are about 22 vehicles with same defect at one dealership. It looks like Audi dealerships and Audi themselves are aware of this issue and do not have parts to repair this. With the emission issue earlier with VW, not sure if this is a systemic issue. I have been told that the part No. is 7LO 906 243 F This problem came up one month back and this has not been repaired as of now being told that the part is on back order. The issue is still not resolved as part is on back order and I have to drive with the engine warning light.

Accident occurred in the parking lot as I was trying to park, sudden unintended acceleration occurred that caused the car to hit the building. Neither front nor back airbags deployed, as well as the automatic emergency break of the collision safety system did not work or activated to stop the car. Both my wife and I were hospitalized. The Auto emergency system of the Audi Q5 is not reliable, and the need for recall.

I had Recall 22V573 performed in November 2022 (see attached service record), and they found no evidence of metal in the engine. Approximately 1,000 miles later my car stopped working suddenly on the highway while driving 65 miles an hour with no warning, except 30 seconds before when some warnings flashed and back smoke started coming out the back. It was completely inoperable. This is extremely dangerous as someone could have run into me from behind. I had to push the vehicle off the highway, which is also extremely dangerous. Audi Roadside was "not available", and I had to walk to a safe area for a tow truck that took 5 hours. The recall "repair" is not enough. You cannot just look to see if there are metal shavings, and if not, assume the car will not have them in the future. ALL the engines should be replaced unless they can develop a repair for the problem that GUARANTEES this will not happen in the future. Who is to say this won't happen to someone in a year? My car has 9,000 miles and there was no evidence of the metal shavings at 8,000.

A 2022 Audi Q5 PHEV abruptly stopped and displayed three warning lights on the dashboard (electrical system malfunction, drive system malfunction, and check engine light). Car was unable to move. Had the car abruptly stopped on a highway, a serious accident may have occurred. There were no prior warnings. After restarting the car several times, the malfunction messages disappeared and the check engine light stayed on. The driver drove it less than 5 miles to the dealership after contacting the dealership to provide advance notice of the car’s arrival. On the same day, the dealership said that the check engine light cleared itself and they did not find any codes to diagnose an issue. Without a diagnosis, the dealership cannot state that a similar incident would not occur in the future. After four more days with the car, the dealership maintained that there were no codes to use for a diagnosis (reported only sporadic codes and not hard codes were found) and the car was ready for pickup. The driver will request an inspection by another Audi dealership service center. The driver has also experienced an intermittent hard brake pedal issue with this model. Issue noted at dealership in August, but not replicated and the issue still occurs infrequently.

The issues all relate to Audi's "Pre-Sense" system. On several occasions the car has either pulled hard and caused me to swerve - apparently incorrectly sensing that I am veering out of my lane - or has stopped suddenly - apparently incorrectly sensing that I was about to hit (or be hit by) something. These incidents have happened on the freeway, narrow mountain roads and side streets. All of these incidents could have caused serious serious bodily injury or death to persons and/or damage to property. I have been in touch with Audi numerous times and they have been unable to correct the issue.

Factory installed hitch receiver became very loose after only one use. A trailer weighing less than 3500 pounds was towed less than 200 miles. When I removed the hitch from the receiver, I notice the receiver was very loose. I could move it very easily with one hand. This seems to me to be a very serious safety issue. On a longer trip the receiver could have completely detached from the vehicle causing a serious accident. The vehicle is only about three months old and has been used to tow only once.

With just 800 miles on the vehicle after only having had it for 3 weeks after purchase, we were on the highway at 11pm at night and the engine started violently shaking to the point that the vehicle was undriveable; the emergency warnings on the dashboard came on, and the more we accelerated the more the vehicle shook. The longer we drove it to get to an emergency exit, the more it started shaking. Within about 30-60 seconds the car became completely undriveable. We were told conflicting things from the Audi service center and their technicians. We were first told that this was a complete engine failure that would need a new engine. We were told cylinder 3 lost pressure and was unresponsive. Then we were told it was just one faulty spring that needed to be replaced, and the vehicle was supposedly fine to run. Simultaneously, and in one-on-one conversations, we were privately told by our Service Adviser Flor Fuentes that she had no confidence that the underlying engine issue was actually fixed, and that she felt the service center got lucky in identifying one temporary patch to the problem that got the engine running again, and that she herself would not feel comfortable getting in this car pregnant or putting a newborn child into this car. We then retained a senior independent Audi service technician to make an assessment of Audi’s repair work, and they found several corners were cut in the process of allegedly fixing the vehicle, not least that Audi did not follow its own test driving protocols before trying to hand it back to us. The independent technician also advised that he could not assure our safety based on the path the dealership took in the alleged repair and the corners cut. We also have a recorded conversation with the head of Audi Service at Audi Central Houston where he acknowledges they didn't follow their own safety checks and standards in the process. I have service center repair records and correspondence but your upload portal is not working

SEE ATTACHED..................... The attached tell the whole story. When I looked at this car last June, it was the color we wasted. We have looked at so many Audi's, at other dealers, before this, and because of the pandemic they were very short on stock.. My last three SUV's always had all the safety equipment. The issue here is they didn't tell show us the window sticker and it was not a round.us about the missing safety equipment, We have had this vehicle about 6 months and it is VERY UNSAFE to drive. we have had several close calls, due to the missing safety equipment. I tried to get to get Audi America and the dealer to add the missing safety equipment. Including . It is standard on all Premium Plus modeds Side assist (blind spot) Rear cross traffic Adaptive cruise control It's also missing the.....Phone box, Toll module, and Power steering column. I found out later after they emailed the widow sticker that they took off about $1500 from the price of the car. I would be happy today if the added the missing modules, and safety equipment. I would be happy to give them back the amount they they deducted. At my age of 82, I need this equipment, that my other SUV had. On June 1 2022, Driving at a speed of approx 20 MPH, the car brakes came on suddenly, 4 windows came down and the vehicle came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the road. A message came on to the effect that the electric system had failed. The vehicle was not driveable and was towed to the Audi Dealership (South Coast Audi, Santa Ana, CA) the same day. I was very concerned about this issue and so contacted both the dealership and Audi USA to request that it be investigated without delay given this issue could endanger lives or cause serious injury. Despite calling the dealership and Audi USA, the vehicle has not yet to my knowledge even been inspected. The dealer advised me that because they are so busy they may not even look at it until June 20 (20 days after the incident. I called Audi USA and advise them that this is a safety concern that they must investigate. Audi USA contacted the dealer but simply advised me that they had made a request to the dealer to keep me updated. Audi has otherwise failed to take any action to investigate the cause of this.

We were driving home on the interstate when suddenly we got an “Electrical system malfunction. Safely stop vehicle!” notification. We pulled over to the shoulder and were able to restart the vehicle but the check engine light was on. We were able to get to the nearest exit when the error appeared again. This time as I was pulling over, the screen went blank and I completely lost power to the vehicle. Thankfully this occurred in a very remote area and there were not a lot of cars around. If this had happened at a place without a shoulder (ex a construction zone, or a narrow winding mountain road) we would have had no place to pull over given the time between when we saw the error and when we lost power to the vehicle was only about ten seconds. At best we become a traffic obstruction. At worst if this occurred in a location with poor visibility we would be rear ended at extremely high velocity. Dealer diagnosed the issue and stated there is a tsb from audi. The fix, however, is only coming end of q3 2022. We are supposed to drive a car that could shut down at any moment in the meantime and just hope it doesn’t happen again, the dealer could not provide a fix they simply cleared the error codes. Dealer said they have had 3 other 2022 q5e come in with the same issue. The only indication of the failure came with the “Electrical system malfunction. Safely stop vehicle!” error message. It appeared suddenly and we had no prior indication from the vehicle that something was wrong. We did have a check engine light after the error appeared the first time.

1. When parked on a slight incline, vehicle rolls forward (downhill) AFTER shifting from Park to Reverse. Dealership says this is normal, says car will roll forward up to 10 feel even when transmission is in reverse. Appears to be due to a design defect in the electronic transmission. 2. Windows will not open when outside temps are below 20 degrees. Dealership says they have no solution. This car has a bunch of other problems that Audi won’t address, but the above are clear safety issues. Thank you.
