Tires3 quejas

The front tires started to come apart (tread separating from belt). I purchased new tires and had a shop install them. Some time later, after I had replaced the tires, I received a recall notice from Audi/Continental Tire for this exact issue. The notice (NHTSA Recall ID 24T009) stated to contact continental for reimbursement. I have contacted Continental Tire via telephone. They instructed me to submit pictures of the tires and receipts via their website. I did so on 11/14/2024, 12/5 and 1/14. I have only received automated validations of receipt. Continental Tire has not responded and will not address the issue. I have attached the documents sent to Continental Tire.

NHTSA #11635996

NHTSA Recall ID: 24T009 Continental Claim Number: [XXX] While driving on the highway from Lake Tahoe to Los Angeles with my family in the car, the front passenger-side tire unexpectedly exploded. The entire tread detached from the tire, causing damage to the right side of the vehicle as it separated. Prior to the incident, the car had undergone an inspection at an official Audi dealership, which included a tire inspection and alignment. No issues were identified at that time. The incident occurred in September 2024. The weather was extremely hot in the desert, so I was closely monitoring the tire pressure through the vehicle’s sensors. No abnormalities were detected before the sudden explosion. Fortunately, I was able to safely maneuver the vehicle off the highway despite the shock of the situation. It took several months for the Audi Pacific Service Center to replace the tires and send them to Continental for analysis. Continental has since denied reimbursement for the vehicle repairs, providing only a general report stating that the failure was unrelated to the recall. On [XXX] I requested a more detailed analysis, including a comprehensive report with supporting images and videos. Continental indicated a one-week turnaround, but as of February 6, 2025, I have not received any further information. The Important Safety Recall notice I received explicitly states that the affected tires may develop belt edge separation due to excessive flexing in the tread shoulder, leading to potential tread/belt loss. This description aligns precisely with the failure I experienced. However, Continental has not provided any evidence or a substantive explanation as to why my case does not fall within the scope of the recall. Given the circumstances and the clear similarities between my experience and the recall description, I am requesting reimbursement for the repair costs resulting from this incident. My car is still not safe to drive because of the damage. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA #11641240

255/35R19 Failure of 1 tire in July. Replaced tire. No concerns noted by Discount tire when replacing it. 1 month later, another tire blew. Clear indication of safety concern so I replaced all tires. I have a picture of the damage, as well as of me literally changing the tire. Informed of recall - filed claim with Continental - Continental has denied my claim for reimbursement despite the pictures.

Structure1 queja

I am writing to formally report a serious and ongoing issue with my 2022 Audi A5 involving multiple component failures. Most recently, both front windows suddenly stopped functioning and would not roll up, leaving my vehicle fully exposed. As a result, my car was subjected to rain, causing water intrusion and damage to the interior of the vehicle. This issue is especially concerning given my prior history with this vehicle. Since purchasing the car, the sunroof has already required repair twice within the past two years. Now, I am experiencing a complete failure of both front windows. This pattern of repeated issues raises serious concerns about the overall reliability and quality of the vehicle. I rely on my vehicle daily to transport my children and manage my responsibilities. Due to this failure, my vehicle is currently not secure or usable in normal conditions, which has placed me in a very difficult position. Additionally, I have been informed by an Audi technician that this is a known issue with Audi A5 models. Given that this defect has been acknowledged, it is extremely concerning that no preventative solution or recall has been implemented to protect consumers from this exact situation. This failure is unacceptable in a vehicle at this price point and presents a risk for further damage, including potential electrical issues due to water exposure. I am requesting that Audi of America take full responsibility for this matter and provide coverage for: Repair of the window system Any resulting interior or electrical damage caused by water intrusion A thorough inspection of the vehicle to ensure no additional damage has occurred I would also like this issue formally documented as part of any ongoing investigation into known defects affecting the Audi A5. Please provide a prompt response with next steps toward resolution. I can be reached at your earliest convenience.

Forward Collision Avoidance1 queja

The pre-sense; alert, seatbelt tightening and braking, was triggered unexpectedly when driving on the straight area of my side road without cause. There were no other vehicles, flying debri or animals in the path of the car to cause the sudden and abrupt braking. My car has since been inspected by the dealer and the result was the pre-sense safety feature is properly working. The report stated it was possible the sensor detected mailboxes or shrubs along the road. The final statement in the diagnostic report was “The customer can change the settings to red”. I now have no confidence in the safety performance of my car and fear it will happen at a time which will cause an accident.
