On April 27, 2026, I attempted to start my 2022 Ram under normal conditions. The vehicle became stuck in an abnormal ignition state between on and off and would not function properly. Shortly after, the vehicle began exhibiting erratic electrical behavior, including the power windows moving up and down on their own without input. At the same time, I lost control of the vehicle. The power steering locked, and I was unable to turn the wheel. The brake pedal also locked and could not be pressed. I attempted multiple times to shut the vehicle off using the push-button ignition, but it would only make a loud clicking sound and would not power down. The electrical system remained active and unresponsive. I also noticed a strong sulfur-like odor coming from the vehicle, consistent with a possible battery or electrical failure. Due to the loss of control, electrical malfunction, and odor, I determined the vehicle was unsafe to operate. AAA roadside assistance was called. The driver (Paul “Willie” from the Thunderbird office) also attempted to shut the vehicle off but was unsuccessful. He noted the sulfur smell and stated it appeared to be an electrical issue. Because the vehicle could not be placed in neutral, he used a screwdriver to access the manual panel and pull the neutral release cord to allow towing. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. Upon arrival, the key fob was taken into the office, but the truck remained running in the parking lot without the key fob present. This failure occurred without warning and represents a serious safety concern due to loss of steering, braking, and inability to shut off the vehicle. The vehicle is used by my family, and I do not feel it is safe to operate until the issue is fully diagnosed and repaired.

Vehicle suddenly stalled and didn’t restart, showing low voltage, lights and gauges flashed erratically. This happened in 2024, brought to dealer, they advised no codes to diagnose issue. Happened again 4/1/2026, battery dead low voltage, had appointment at dealer and issue corrected on its on before appointment.

-The wiring harness to the right of the rearview mirror combusted, causing a fire that lead to insurance totaling the vehicle. -Being that this issue occurred with the vehicle off, and no one present this could be a serious issue if not for neighbors seeing the fire and putting it out. -No, due to this being a fire, it can not be reproduced or confirmed. -Police, fire and insurance investigators all have inspected the vehicle fire. Both fire and insurance have agreed the fire started at the same point. -There were no warnings of any kind prior to the fire.

This is in regards to well known issue with the E-Torque MGU generator equipped on this vehicle. The internal bearing is failing causing a whining and grinding sound and results in a loss of electrical power that causes the vehicle to stall and not restart when the auto start/stop feature is engaged, which has happened to me once. I have had a dealer confirm this component failure and the vehicle is now unsafe to drive and is parked for an undetermined amount of time because the part is on national backorder per Stellantis.

On Friday, January 9, 2026, my Ram 1500 lost all power and would not re-start for approximately 15 minutes on Folsom-Auburn Road, in Folsom, a 50 mph speed limit road. After appox. During that time I blocked traffic in the left hand lane, unable to restart the truck. 15 minutes later (with a tow on the way) it started and has been running without issue since. I brought my truck to the local dealer, Folsom Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, on Wednesday, January 14. They tracked the problem to a failing electrical module below the rear window. It is corroding because the rear window started leaking. The total repair estimate was approx. $5000. My truck is a 2022, I bought it new in January, 2022 and it has 45,000 miles. In addition to the manufacturer's warranty I purchased Mopar's Max Care plan, with coverage for 85,000 miles and 8 years. In spite of this, Mopar denied the warranty claim. However, after speaking with the dealer's service manager and asking for good-will coverage, Mopar agreed to pay for 80% of the repair cost. The repair is now pending receipt of parts, which the dealer anticipates may take up to three weeks to collect. I am still driving the truck, as I rely on it for transportation.

Go to start the truck and the tailgate comes down and clicking in the harness underneath the dash. This could happen going down the road. Not able to see camera when backing up because tailgate automatically goes down. This drains the battery when the truck is completely turned off. Dealer said corrosion and water got in the harness on a 3 year old truck. I'm left paying $1700 out of pocket on a three year old truck.

My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including: black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

I experienced a complete electrical system "shut down" or failure, on November 29, 2025 while driving from Stillwater to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It is available for inspection. However, I have replaced the battery as recommended by Quail Springs Automotive to get it back on the road again. I was driving my daughter home, and was making a right-hand turn off of Memorial onto north May avenue when the electrical system failure occurred and the steering and brakes failed causing the truck to jump the meridian and come to rest in the inside lane of northbound traffic just beyond the intersection. Oklahoma City police were called to provide assistance and mitigate oncoming traffic. The battery light came on and the Stop/Start function light came on at some point in the trip, but I'm not sure of the sequence or timing. The whole experience scared both of us to the core.

Rear Defroster overheated which caused it to burn my rear window in my truck and shattered my rear window. The window was directly behind my son’s car seat, thank goodness he wasn’t in the vehicle when it blew. I’ve found multiple instances of this issue happening across social media pages Ram looked at it today and said it isn’t their issue. The only warning I got was the smell of burning electrical 5 minutes before it blew.

Am having issues with my 22 Ram 1500 limited 4x4 with the 5.7 HEMI MDS. there are issues with this engine since 2009. The MDS lifters and cam shaft do not get enough oil. They already replaced the cam shaft and oil pan pickup. Now they have my truck for over 3 weeks to replace the engine. The only problem is that they are replacing it with the same one and hoping again that nothing goes wrong. Called Ram and was basically told too bad. And i have another vehicle with the same engine and it's starting to do the same thing my engine was doing. Asked them to use non MDS so it won't happed again but was basically told too bad. Do not think this is fair since they have known about this problem since 09. If I would have known this,I would have not purchased the 2 vehicles. I think the resolution should be that they install non MDS parts now and when it happens to my 23 JEEP WAGONEER. Thank you and have a great day, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

With auto start stop system turned off the engine will die when coming to a stop. The truck then shifts into park and brakes auto apply. No check engine lights no failure indications. Starts up and runs everything fine afterwards. Happens at first 3 stops and then will not happen again unless truck sits for more then 2 hours. Dealers unable to fix cause no check engine lights and nothing recorded in computer. This is a software problem they say wait for a recall.

The part on my truck in question is the "OEM Actuator Manifold Runner", or "ISV Actuator", or "Swirl Valve Actuator". I've seen the part called several things online. My mechanic and dealerships I've visited with tell me this part is on major back order and 300+ individuals nationwide are also waiting on the part. I'm told there is no open recall for this part. My truck is currently not safe to drive and the part is unavailable. There needs to be a recall placed on this part that so many people are having the same issue with and cannot obtain the parts needed to repair the issue. This is costing me thousands of dollars worth of rental car fees, and I still have no estimated timeframe on when this part will be available. Again, there should be a recall on this part. Based on what I've read online this part availability issue is not new. If not a recall, this part must be under warranty after the abundance of cases related to this part. How can I get a solution to this issue?

2022 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7l Hemi coolant system issues. Every time I get out of my truck I smell coolant. Took it to Crain Dodge Ram & Jeep Benton, AR. The first time they pressure tested system and found no leaks. Told me it was normal! 1 week later, it's back and they could smell how bad it was.Still no leaks. I dropped it off and after 2 weeks, they haven't touched it. Finally after 3 weeks they send me a text saying that there is dirt in the coolant and needs to be flushed and will cost $400. Truck is still under the 60k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I told them that if there were no leaks, and my truck has never seen mud and rarely sees gravel, I did some research and found several TSB's on the coolant system being contaminated by engine oil and that there is also an issue with casting sand being left in the engine blocks after manufacturing process, and contaminats the coolant system and Jeep is having the same issue which is causing engine fires! I took screenshots of the TSB's I found online and sent them to the dealership. They refuse to address the issue and have not made any attempts to resolve the issue! I should not be held responsible for the engine manufacturer leaving casting sand in the block and is causing coolant issues in my truck! Why would a dealership, that I have bought 3 Ram trucks from, 2 suv's from, not even attempt to investigate the issues of coolant contamination that seems to be a recurring problem in these trucks! And how many other people have they scammed and made them pay for coolant flush and new coolant? And just how much damage has been done to the aluminum heads, thermostat, heater core, and radiator after coolant has circulated through the system like a sand blaster, eating away at all of the interior coolant parts and cylinder heads and gaskets! And what kind of permanent damage to the engine and water pump do I have to worry about in the future, that will most likely occur after the factory warranty has expired!

While looking at preliminary evaluation reports, I noticed there is one for the same problem I've had a few times now. My engine stalled at low speed, put it self in park, applied the parking brake and the warning light for battery problems came on. I had to shut the truck down and restart it. This is at least the 3rd time it's happened. This is going to kill someone eventually. It's always happened to me after I came to a complete stop at a stop sign and am moving in to an intersection. I'm stuck there for a few seconds while cars are coming at me. Once they came very close to hitting me. The truck stayed in this mode until I got home and shut it off. I turned it back on the next day and it has been fine since. The photo I attached is of the low voltage notification the most recent time it occurred.

eTorque system is failing. Last week when stopped for a red light my truck stalled and would not advance when I applied the accelerator once the light turned green. My vehicle is supposed to ¨wake up¨upon touching the accelerator after going on ¨sleep mode¨whenever stopped. This did not happen and I was nearly rear ended by the vehicle behind me when my vehicle did not engage properly when applying the accelerator to move forward.

2022 Hemi eTorque cause sudden engine stalling while driving, followed by the truck automatically applying the parking brake and shifting into park. Tow driver couldn't get the truck on the flat bed, had to drag onto the tow truck and drag off the tow truck. Couldn't get it out of park or get the brakes to release. We could have died! No part available for 45 days so I can't upload a repair invoice as of yet.

When driving down the road, randomly the vehicle will derate and allow for 20 mph max for a short time, at times during this "derate" section, the vehicle will apply the park brake and shut off. I took the issue to the dealership, advised me to replace injector. Replaced one injector, brought home had same issue, over fueling on 2 separate injectors, installed all 7 remaining injectors (at my expense). Issue still arises. Brought back to the repairing dealer, plugged computer in, different error code arose, made an appointment to bring back on the following week. Drove 2 miles down the highway, unit would not drive over "limp mode" Service manager drove it confirming issues, had loaner car for several weeks, tried trading it in, dealership would offer me half of what paid 6 months prior. After some research, this is a known issue with this model vehicle and there is a "stop sale" on the part. Gave loaner vehicle back to dealership, continue to drive my Ram 1500 with known issue and random shutting down. Work order still open at dealership, Minnesota Truck Headquarters in St Cloud MN 320-230-6064. Cole in Service is the contact, he has been very great to work with.

My vehicle experiences the same issues, including: [Insert brief personal symptoms: e.g., black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc.] Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Truck just shutdown while driving. No warnings. Pulled over to side of road with the momentum, stopped and restarted.
NHTSA #11714190
The vehicle had been in operation for approximately 10 minutes. While driving at highway speed on a downhill arterial road with a curve at the bottom, the infotainment system switched from the active screen to a small banner advertisement for complimentary Sirius XM radio service. This banner advertisement disabled all infotainment based actions including the previously displayed information, radio control, climate control, navigation guidance etc. Powering off and powering on via the easy to reach power button did not clear the system state. The only way to clear was to touch the small dim "X" button on gray background which was on the upper right hand (but below corner) portion of the screen. This was extremely difficult to locate and was completely invisible until after the road curved, casting enough shadow on the screen to make out the low contrast input. Having an unexpected superfluous pop up with a difficult to dismiss mechanism which prevents necessary in motion adjustments such as receiving driving guidance, muting audio, or activating defrost systems is distracting and dangerous to myself, and potentially other occupants, as well as to other vehicles and/or pedestrians which may have been present. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacture, police, insurance, etc. No other warning lamps or messages associated with this issue were displayed.

Back window of 2022 Dodge Ram is improperly sealed during manufacturing, and water is seeping into backseat area. Safety Concerns: 1. Water seepage: Indicates the rear window seal was not properly installed or has failed prematurely. 2. Glass stress: Continuous water pressure and poor sealing can weaken the bond between the glass and frame, increasing the risk of cracking or shattering. 3. Passenger safety: If the window breaks under stress, rear passengers could be exposed to sharp glass fragments. This was a recall on older Dodge Ram models and needs to happen in 2022 models as well.

my 2022 Ram Laramie 1500 is experiencing repeated issues with the Uconnect 8.4 system going into a mode where the screens continually change resolution which can not only be distracting but not allow me to use the controls on the screen, this also results in my rear view camera freezing or going back screen while trying to back up losing the visibility.. this has been happening for several months. to correct the issue i have to turn the truck off and exit the vehicle. return a short time later and start the vehicle and the issue is cleared for a few days until it does it again. its almost like its trying to install an update and failing causing it to "freak out" then it will seem to try again in a few days. sometimes if i am unable to stop and shut the truck off i have to turn off the screen to avoid distraction from the constantly changing screen especially at night this is very distracting.

NHTSA Vehicle Safety Complaint — Date of Incident: November 23, 2025 Vehicle: 2022 Ram 1500- E-Torque VIN: [XXX] Location: Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA Description of the Safety Issue: On November 23, 2025, my wife was driving our 2022 Ram 1500 E-Torque with our three older children on the way to the park. While traveling on Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake, VA, the steering wheel suddenly locked up without warning. At the same moment, a red warning light appeared on the dashboard with an icon that resembled a steering wheel. The steering wheel froze and pulled the truck sharply to the right, causing her to lose control. The vehicle then veered off the road and crashed into an electrical pole. There were no prior issues or warnings before this sudden failure. This was a complete and unexpected loss of steering control, creating an extremely dangerous situation that put my family at serious risk. Injuries / Damage: •Vehicle sustained front-end damage from striking the pole. •My wife is currently suffering with pain in the back of her neck area. Additional Notes: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue, as it appears to be a significant safety defect that could potentially affect other Ram 1500 E-Torque vehicles. The electric steering in my 2022 RAM 1500 Classic pickup failed at 40,000 miles and about 2 years & 11 months after I bought it new. It went from driving fine when pulling out from our vacation rental cabin to absolutely no power assistance 1/4 mile down the long driveway out to the highway. Thank goodness I was driving slowly because I was caught totally off guard and barely stopped before I would’ve gone into the ditch and a very large tree! I immediately called the RAM dealer where I purchased the truck and was told the earliest I could get it in for service was in over 2 weeks! So I contacted an independent garage who used to service my previous vehicles & they could get my truck in & diagnosed immediately so I took it in— code says EPS failed & I need a $4000 complete replacement of the steering system! I expect Chrysler to cover my cost for this repair. It’s obviously a known defective design.

My car just stopped and turned off. On the screen it says service electronic stability control. And power steering unavailable and service immediately. I serviced the car on April 24th. I received the car April 29th and they said they had to flash the computers and it would take 1.5 hours. I paid 330 dollars. I drove the car off and 15-20 min later the car cut off. I called the dealership and told them and they said they have to get the car back in the shop. I have additional documents.

I was driving my Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque this morning (2022, ~36k miles). About 10 minutes in, I was stopped at a light and the truck shut down completely (engine, electric, etc.) There was no prior notice, nor was it having problems. When I tried to go as the light turned green, obviously the truck did not go. I noticed several panel lights come on, including the battery light. There was also a message that said something to the extent that the emergency brake had automatically engaged and needed to be released. After a minute, I was able to re-start the car and drive home. Cars behind me honked, and eventually went around me. I have an appointment to take the truck in, but no diagnosis as of now. I did research and read that this a known problem with the 5.7L eTorque, and that some trucks have been recalled (NHTSA Recall 23V-235) for similar issues, and there is also on ongoing investigation for others that were not part of the recall. My experience is similar to everything I've seen/read reported by other drivers (e.g., seemingly random stall with no prior warning, certain dash lights coming on, auto-engagement of the parking break).
NHTSA #11729910
While driving at low speeds twice now my ram 1500 has stalled and engaged the parking break. Once coming to a stop and another time making a turn onto a road. Once I turn the truck back on there is a battery light on the dash and I’m allowed to drive to a safe place and restart the truck and the battery light goes away. Very concerned for my safety due to living next to a busy road.
NHTSA #11729318
Vehicle deployed EBS system while coming to stop, automatically shifted to park and the engine shut off. When trying to restart the vehicle, the battery indicated a very low charge (11.1V) and not charging from the alternator. The battery is 3 months old and confirmed that the battery cells were good by an automotive shop. Has happened approximately 8 times in the past year. No codes or check engine lights are displayed.

I was stopped at a light and my dash light started beeping and flashing at random and the truck just shut off. My parking break got randomly engaged and the truck went back to P mode even though it was in drive prior. I turned the truck back on and the break wouldn’t release and I couldn’t turn the knob to drive. Had to turn it off again and after about 2 minute it left me drive again. Second time and I just bought this truck.
NHTSA #11700954
The first issue appeared when I came to a stop at a light. The auto start/stop feature malfunctioned and left my truck dead in the middle of a busy intersection and wouldn’t turn back on right away. Eventually it turned on and I was able to make it home safely. I thought this was a one time thing as the truck then appeared to be working fine after. But then it happened again after that where it wouldn’t restart after the auto start/stop function didn’t restart the engine. When I brought it in to the dealership they diagnosed the problem as a faulty etorque motor and replaced the unit in July, 2023, about a year and a half after I bought the truck brand new. Now 2 years later, the issue is happening again. This time the check engine light came on, then a few minutes later the battery low voltage light came on, all while I was driving at speed on the expressway. The truck never shut off and I was able to make it to my destination safely but I feared the same issue from 2 years ago was happening again. I immediately had the 12v battery replaced under the hood the same day and got an oil change to make sure it wasn’t either of those things triggering the check engine light. The check engine light remained on and so I was able to bring it to the dealership with the battery voltage gauge reading 11.2 at the lowest while on the way. They hooked up the code reader for the check engine light which showed error code: P0A78 - Drive Motor A Inverter Performance, leaving me unable to drive the truck home as it is unsafe to drive at this point for fear the truck would lose power while under way. As it stands, truck is at the dealership awaiting further diagnostics for the same issue that’s been happening since I bought the truck new in December, 2021.

[XXX] I was local driving and my Ram truck got silent and engine died. I still had power steering. When I rolled to a stop the message said "press brake and put in park". The truck put itself in park before I pressed the brake pedal. It took 3 attempts to get my truck started. I drove to Walker dealer in Alexandria, La., and reported problem. Service advisor put a computer on the truck and it had a code. We made an appointment for 4-7-26 to get it resolved. I left my truck at the dealership at 8:30am and picked it up at 5pm. Advisor said they fixed a code and everything else checked out in OK status. That part was under warranty so no charge. The same thing happened last summer but I did not report it as I was able to start the truck and thought I had done something wrong. I am scared to make a trip anywhere and leave me stranded. I now make sure I have towing coverage. Because it is something that has to do with computers, I have to stay close to a dealership because their computer tools are proprietary. The truck gave no warning or indication of any kind. It just died. I keep all my paperwork from the dealership. I bought the truck with 2000 miles on it. The same issues related to NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation PE24018. Engine stall while stopped at a red light on, battery warning light on, vehicle voltage gauge extreme low, auto start light came on. It took several tries to get the truck started again. This has happened SEVERAL times since purchasing the vehicle in early 2022. Sometimes the check engine light comes on. Once it took several hours for the vehicle to restart.

The MGU on my Ram 1500 failed while driving down a main road in my town. A rattling noise started and the check engine light turned on and I called the dealership that same day to have it serviced. The dealership could not get me in for a few days so I did not drive the truck again until the day I could take it in. On my way to the dealership I got a half mile down the road from my house and all sorts of warning lights started flashing and the truck turned the emergency brake on itself as I was driving down the road. This put in a lot of danger because I was stuck and couldn’t get the car to start or even shift anymore and was stuck in the roadway. I had the truck towed to the dealership and they said this has been a common issue with the Ram Etorque engines, so the part is on back order and will take 7 months to get replacement. I feel if Ram knows this is a common issue for such a major component leading to such potential danger, they should recall this vehicle.

The low voltage light came on. Voltage was at 11.5V. I continued driving. Voltage dropped below 9V. I pulled into a parking lot. At low speed, the power steering shut down, braking assist, parking sensors, and other functions shut down and the vehicle stalled. Vehicle automatically shifted to Park and engaged the electronic parking brake. Car would no re-start and was towed to the dealer. Car is currently at the dealer with a diagnosis to replace the 12V battery as a first step. I am concerned to drive the vehicle based on similar consumer complaints related to PE24018. If root cause is not addressed (eg, only replacing 12V battery), I feel my safety is at risk if the vehicle shuts down again in a situation where I was unable to pull off the road before the vehicle shut itself down due to low voltage.
NHTSA #11695293
While coming to a stop at my driveway the truck stalled while on the auto start/stop system, the vehicle had to be put in park and restarted as normal. The next day the same issue occurred then the battery warning light came on along with a engine code. The etorque motor/generator failed and has been confirmed by the dealership it was purchased from. Had I not been on such a low volume road the stalling could cause risk to me getting hit or causing someone to hit me due to the failure to restart. Vehicle is at dealership with confirmed etorque motor/generator failure and a warranty claim has been filed/in process

symptoms: 1. P0A7D hybrid battery failure. 2. Heat from the eTorque motor after 1min run time. 3. Unstable voltage. 4. 12‑volt drain (replaced battery last year June 2025) 5. Risk of sudden loss of assist. 6. Auto‑park behavior. 7. Unpredictable drivability. I don't feel this is safe when I stop at a stop sign the truck applied auto-park and I could not move, had to press the auto-stop to get it out of the park brake and back in drive. So, I was only two blocks from home so went ahead and went back home, and it was running bad went I pulled up in my driveway. I have had the truck in to dealer for this code P0A7D and more codes last year in June and all they did was reset the check engine light and sent me on my way that was 731 miles ago. Now going back to dealer on 01/22/2026 to see if they will fix it this time. I feel with a hybrid battery failure is a risk with Fire and if the auto-park kicks in when driving on the highway could be very bad! I did know this truck had a auto-park?

My 2022 Ram 1500 is experiencing a "lurching" or "bumping" forward and backwards when moving from park to drive or reverse. The issue is most apparent after coming to a stop and releasing the brake to accelerate. You can feel a "Bump" sensation as the drivetain re-engages. Have taken to dealer and been told this is "normal operation" but I refuse to accept it. Have been researching this a lot lately and have found many instances of other trucks experiencing the same issue with no fix. Links to examples of others in the same situation below. [XXX] [XXX] The problem lies in the binding of drive shaft slip yoke. Either in the 2 piece driveshaft splines OR at the transfer case. Many are temporarily remedying the issue by applying grease to the splines and this prevents the binding for a temporary amount of time. I was trying to park my vehicle in my garage, where I need to get within 1-2" from the wall for the garage door to close. When I try to release the brake to creep towards the wall, the truck lurches as the binding releases and bumps into the wall. No damage/injury occured but if Ram doesn't address this with a repair or some sort of remedy, someone may be injured. At approximately 66k and even thousands of miles before this the rear axle bearings failed and needed to be replaced. This is much sooner than a component like this should fail and oddly just outside of the warranty period. Although no safety incident happened, it very well could have locked up the rear axle putting myself and others in danger.
NHTSA #11700724
The pinion and carrier bearings failed on a less than 3 year old truck with 66k miles. This is way to early for this type of repair and was just out of warranty. This could have caused the truck to lock up while driving possibly injuring myself and other drivers. The noise caused from this was heard months before but was believed to be tire related.

Complaint Summary My 2022 Ram 1500 has a recurring safety issue where the engine shuts off unexpectedly after coming to a complete stop and then attempting to accelerate. This typically occurs at stop signs. When it happens, the dashboard flashes warnings, the emergency brake sometimes engages, and the truck prompts me to “apply brake and push start button.” I’ve nearly been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power. Safety Concerns This issue poses a serious safety risk. The truck stalls in traffic, leaving me vulnerable to collisions. The unpredictability of the failure makes it difficult to drive with confidence, especially when transporting my family. Request for Action I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue further and work with Stellantis (Ram’s parent company) to identify the root cause and issue a recall or software fix. Owners deserve a safe and reliable vehicle, and this defect undermines that trust.

While driving my vehicle broke down in the middle of the road and locked up the engine because of the etorque generator. I was blocking traffic and had to be assisted by police and then towed. This is the second time this component has failed in 14 months. Both times leaving me stranded. I am now being told it could be weeks or months before the dealer can get my part. The etorque also caused the starter to lock up and it also now must be replaced. The vehicle broke down right after I got off the interstate 2 minutes earlier and I would of been on I-20 with vehicles traveling 70 mph. Someone is going to get hurt or killed because of this part.

On [XXX] at approximately [XXX], my 2022 RAM 1500 (VIN [XXX] ), equipped with the 5.7L V8 Hemi eTorque mild-hybrid system and currently at 45,000 miles, experienced a sudden engine shutdown and complete loss of throttle response while traveling approximately 25 mph on [XXX] , heading toward Colonia in active evening traffic. The accelerator pedal became unresponsive, the vehicle began coasting, and within seconds the truck shifted itself into PARK and engaged the parking brake automatically. I had to release the parking brake to move the vehicle off the road. After restarting, which required noticeably more cranking than normal, and disabling the auto-brake feature, I attempted to drive again. Within roughly 15 seconds the throttle was sluggish, the rear wheels chirped as the truck jerked and bucked, and the engine died a second time, again shifting into PARK and engaging the parking brake. The safety risk was significant: a sudden, uncommanded loss of motive power on a public road, followed by automatic PARK engagement and parking brake activation in active traffic, created a high risk of a rear-end collision and left me with no throttle control to safely position the vehicle. The only warning indication was a red battery icon that illuminated on the dashboard during the stall events themselves. There were no warning lights, messages, or other symptoms in the days or weeks leading up to the failure. I did experience a single similar stall some time ago during extremely cold weather, but yesterday was a warm day, so a cold-temperature correlation does not appear to apply here. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or the problem reproduced by a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. After a nearly four-hour wait for a tow truck, the vehicle was transported to Liccardi Ram and is available for inspection upon request. Drivers side visor plastic mount broke while attempting to adjust the visor while driving on the turnpike. Visor was impeding visibility and could not be removed due to the electrical components. Also could not pull over to remove because specialty torx screwdriver required and was well outside of any city or town. Had to extend the visor and prop it against the door as the only means to reduce the obstruction in order to get home. I was concerned that a sharp turn would dislodge it from its precarious perch. Online searches indicate this has been a common problem since the 2019 model and numerous companies make an aftermarket bracket to go over the OEM part to correct this well known and obvious defective part.

NHTSA #11732443
Im driving vehicle and randomly the vehicle will shut off when making turns. It is random every so many months. But it has done in major intersections. It will immediately start back up so that’s good. But there are no engine lights. And dealership Does not seam like they can do a whole lot with engine no lights on. But it seems common when doing research online The vehicle is a 2022 Ram 1500 with 55,000 miles

2022 Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque Stalling mild-hybrid HEMI would shut off unexpectedly while traveling at low speeds, prompting the vehicle to shift into park and engage the emergency brake. intermittent ability to restart. the battery fault symbol lighting up.
NHTSA #11703350
When coming to a stop at a stop sign, my truck randomly shut off while in gear, automatically shifted to park and put the ebrake on. I restarted my truck and shut off the ebrake and drove fine the rest of the way.
NHTSA #11723382
Turning corner, moving at slow speed. Engine shut off unexpectedly, parking brake auto-applied, truck shifted to park. Stuck sitting in traffic lane, VERY unsafe! Was able to restart truck and disable parking brake and resume driving but this was a very dangerous situation had there been more traffic.
NHTSA #11706111
After coming to a stop, my vehicle does not accelerate. It automatically engages the park brake and the battery light starts flashing. I have to restart my truck multiple times for it to restart. I have taken it to a dealership 2 and each time they are unable to diagnose it, and release it to me with no info.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH and approaching a speed hump, the driver's side front wheel detached at the ball joint, disabling the vehicle. The vehicle was towed by AAA to a certified mechanic. The mechanic determined that the driver's side ball joint cotter pin was either fractured or missing. The mechanic became aware of a failure with the passenger’s side wheel, also. The vehicle was repaired. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer, but the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

As I was driving in the left lane of a four lane local road. I passed over a small hump in the road. The suspension lifted and as it settled. I lost control of the steering and the truck abruptly pulled left. I managed to gain control and guide the truck from collision with another vehicle and the bridge guard rail. I had no warning lights and the truck drove straight at the time. Tire wear was normal and I had an appointment in three days for new ties and alignment since I did hear a clunk a few days earlier.

1. On August 14th, 2025, Rear Air Ride Suspension failed. Received a “ Service Air Suspension Immediately” warning light right before the air suspension failed and lost control of the rear suspension. Yes it’s available for inspection. 2. The rear shocks lost air and the vehicle started to drive erratically and bouncing up and down. Could not keep control of the steering due to this. 3. It was confirmed at the dealership 8/18/2025 when the dealer representative installed the diagnostic reader in my obd port of my vehicle they determined codes for air leak and possible faulty air compressor or rear Air shocks. 4. The vehicle nor it’s components have not been inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance representative. 5. No previous warnings of this issue.

Purchased the vehicle(2022 Ram 1500 BigHorn w/ 5.7 HEMI Etorque) 7/26/25 from Kenny Ross Ford with 26,600 miles on it. Noticed a whining noise at lower speeds and idle. Thinking it was a pulley bearing, made repair appointment. By 7/28/25 the whining had turned to grinding. Dashboard lit up with warning lights, truck went into limp mode and eventually completely died in middle of road on way back to dealer. I am told it is the MGU and the wait time on backorder is extensive. They havent been able to give me an exact time yet of when the part will be available.

Folded down the drivers side sun visor and it fell from the roof and was hanging by the wires that control the garage door opener. I could not see the road in front of me and had to pull over and push the stem back up in the bracket and leave it in the up position for it to stay in place.
NHTSA #11744595
The visors on both sides will just detach and unexpectedly fall from the roof of the truck while you are driving. They are fairly big and when they detach and fall it poses a risk of crashing. I have researched this and it seems to be a problem with many Ram trucks. I am very surprised there has not been a recall of this hazard yet. The drivers side visor fell off last June 2025. I was able to get it repaired at a Dodge dealership at no charge as it was under warranty still.

Purchased my used RAM October 2024. On 5 occasions the engine stalled while driving. Lost all power and rolled to a stop when the parking brake engaged. Most recent incident was May 17, 2026. I went to my dealer with this complaint May 14th, there were no codes and I was told truck was operating as designed. I am unable to duplicate the event - but it happens when I slow down and then speed up - Stop sign, parking lot etc. Potentially I could have run over someone or crashed or someone could have struck me. I received no warning before the stall. The check engine light did not come on. While stalled the following messages appeared on my dashboard 1. press brake and push button to start; 2. Shifter autocorrect active; 3. Park brake auto engaged press brake + push switch to release. The truck restarted but battery light remained on and the lightning bolt red light stayed on.

UNKNOWN exact component, but it is a critical failure within the electrical/charging system or the 48V eTorque system. The dealership previously suspected the eTorque system and replaced the belt tensioner, but the failure continues. The vehicle is currently available for inspection and has been sitting at an authorized Ram dealership for the last three weeks. The vehicle suffers a complete and sudden loss of motive power while driving. When it stalls, the truck automatically engages "auto park" and applies the parking brake. This has happened repeatedly while pulling into active traffic and while passing through busy intersections (most recently in downtown Chicago). This sudden, uncontrollable stop in the middle of an intersection creates an extreme and immediate risk of a severe rear-end or T-bone collision for myself, my passengers, and surrounding motorists. Yes, the dealership was able to successfully replicate the stall while their technicians were driving it. But I don't think they had any type of computer hooked up to it. However, the attempt at repair during the second service visit involved replacing the eTorque belt tensioner based on my description of the failure, acknowledging that a slip could cause the issue. They have not been able to replicate during this last visit. Despite putting over 400 test miles on the truck during the current (third) visit, they cannot get the intermittent failure to occur while hooked up to their diagnostic equipment. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Ram dealership. It has been in their possession for over six weeks in total across three separate service visits.

Vehicle starts sputtering/stalling out when sitting at stop signs or stoplights. It feels like the auto start/stop is trying to engage and disengage over and over again. This happens even with the auto start turned off, after turning the truck off and back on again it seems to go away for a while. This has happened at least a dozen times in the past 6 months or so.

The contact owns a 2022 RAM 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the right turn signal was activated; however the right turn signal did not function as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, the vehicle was not inspected. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under a recall or warranty program. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

The onboard computer system, despite detecting a burnt out tail light, did not alert me. I happened to notice the tail light was not on because I remote started the vehicle, which turns on certain lights to indicate successful remote start, and I happened to notice the discrepancy in lighting when I walked up behind the vehicle. The fact that the on board computer system knew the light was out, and did not inform me could have put myself, my occupants, and others on the road at risk of collision and injury due to reduced marking lighting. Upon discovering the issue, I drove to the nearest auto parts store and purchased and installed a replacement bulb. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, etc. There were no warning messages or lamps, however a scan with an OBD reader at a later date revealed a "conformed fault code" "B16D7-15 Left taillamp 1 Control-Circuit Short to Battery or Open"

The vehicle is a 2022 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab that experienced a complete failure of the 48-volt eTorque battery pack and Motor Generator Unit (MGU). On August 1, 2025, at approximately 11,374 miles, the truck became inoperable and had to be towed to the dealership. The dealership confirmed the failure of the eTorque hybrid system components. The vehicle has remained out of service since August 1, 2025, with multiple delays in sourcing the required replacement parts (battery pack and MGU). As of early October 2025, the truck remains at the dealership and has been non-operational for over 60 consecutive days. Safety Concerns: This failure presented a serious safety risk because the truck could not be driven or restarted after it stalled in the middle of a busy street. If the failure had occurred on a freeway or in traffic, the sudden loss of power could have led to a collision, placing the driver, passengers, and others on the road at risk. Inspection and Repairs: The failure was reproduced and confirmed by [XXX] Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM (La Mesa, CA). Chrysler/Stellantis engineering reviewed the case under Case #93835258 and authorized replacement parts. As of now, the vehicle is still not restored to operational condition despite multiple part shipments and attempted repairs. Warning/Failure Indicators: Prior to failure, the vehicle did NOT display warning lamps and messages associated with the hybrid system malfunction. Once the fault occurred, the vehicle could not run. Summary: Component(s) failed: 48V eTorque battery pack and Motor Generator Unit (MGU). Risk: Sudden loss of propulsion, high safety risk. Inspection: Confirmed by dealership and Stellantis engineers. Out of service: Vehicle has been non-operational since August 1, 2025 (over 60 days). Availability: The vehicle remains at the dealership and can be inspected upon request. We have had this truck since August 2025, the engine has stalled while driving numerous times since we have had it. This happens randomly and unexpectedly, the vehicle loses power and stalls, shifts itself back into park and engages the emergency break. It does not show any check engine lights for the dealership to replicate the issue. The engine will start back up after it stalls. We have always bought Ram trucks and never had this issue before. When speaking to many different mechanics they are relating this issue to the 2021 E-torque malfunction. (37A/NHTSA3A-265). The reliability of this truck causes severe safety concerns, as our truck stalled in the middle of a highway with my children in the vehicle this past weekend. The ongoing investigation should be expedited to prevent severe or even fatal accidents.

My vehicle experiences the same issues, including black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, buzzing noise and carplay connection issues. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

The radio in my truck keeps displaying a message about my uconnect not working and to seen an authorized dealer. This message blocks my view of my backup camera as well as creates a distraction while driving. After this message appears, my assist and SOS buttons no longer function as intended. The dealer has replaced multiple components related to this issue and have not resolved the problem. A substantial amount of people online also have this same complaint.

The vehicle shut down and set the emergency parking brake while the vehicle was in motion at a rate of less than 15 mph. This has occurred 5 times. The first time it occurred the dealership said that it just required a software update. Every instance the vehicle was under 15 mph, and in the process of turning onto a road. There were no indications that this was going to happen before it occurred

While driving on the 60 East highway (approximately 65-68 mph), the vehicle did not accelarate and became completely non-responsive. Each time I pressed on the gas pedal, the RPM needle started trembling between 600-1100, which is much lower than where it should be while the vehicle was in Drive and traveling at this speed. This was an extremely dangerous situation as I had my wife and 5 month old daughter in the vehicle, and other vehicles were traveling significantly faster than me. I noticed some engine vibrations, and the digital gauge cluster screen presented information on the screen as if the vehicle was "off." It instructed me to push the gear lever into Park. It then instructed me to press the brake pedal and push the iginition button. All of this occurred as the vehicle was still coasting (likely around 40 mph). I pulled over on to the shoulder to see what occurred. After coming to a complete stop the engine cut out. I was able to restart the vehicle and drove approximately 10 minutes before it occurred again on the surface streets. At that point the ignition did not catch and it sounded very much like the engine was not able to turn on at all. The check engine light turned on at this point. I called AAA for tow services shortly thereafter, and the vehicle was dropped off at the dealership. I have not received any followup from the dearlership yet.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while making a left turn out of the driveway, there was a clunking sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle, and the vehicle failed to steer or turn properly. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but was not yet diagnosed; however, the tow truck driver stated that the ball joint of the upper control arm on the passenger’s side had fractured completely. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue with my Ram 1500. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of complete power loss while driving, including at highway speeds. During these events, the vehicle abruptly shuts down without warning. The dashboard lights illuminate (including the battery and check engine lights), followed by total electrical failure. The engine turns off, the radio and displays go dark, and I lose power steering and braking assist, then the emergency brake engages, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. These incidents have occurred more than once and are unpredictable. In at least one instance, I was forced to pull over on the highway after the vehicle lost all power while in motion. The loss of steering and braking assistance created a dangerous situation, especially as I have had my children in the vehicle. After one incident, the vehicle was jump-started and the battery was replaced; however, the issue recurred. A mechanic previously reported that no diagnostic codes were found and no problem could be identified, despite the severity of the failure. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for further evaluation. This issue appears consistent with other reports of Ram 1500 vehicles experiencing sudden loss of motive power and electrical failure. The intermittent nature of the defect and lack of diagnostic codes make it difficult to detect, increasing the safety risk. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle, as it can shut down without warning while driving. I am requesting further investigation into this issue due to the significant risk of crash or injury.

Safety put at risk. I noticed that the rear locking seatbelt on the driver side has never been connected to the bolt on the floor which was provided for the attachment. Factory oversight perhaps. What brought it to my attention was that it appeared to be "stretched" in appearance which looked peculiar. I proceeded to lift up the rear seat exposing the dangling locking side of the belt. It appeared that is was brand new, no bolt or washer scratches etc., indicating that it was never attached from the factory. The date below will be the date I noticed that it was not attached.

There is a known issue with the Ram infotainment Uconnect systems. The 2022 Ram 1500 frequently experiences infotainment issues involving its Uconnect 5 system, characterized by loud buzzing or popping noises, "screen bouncing" (glitchy movement or flickering), and spontaneous reboots. These symptoms often result from software bugs, a full memory cache, or, in some cases, hardware defects requiring a complete unit replacement. Some issues tied to this are Loss of Rearview Visibility, The radio software can prevent the backup camera image from displaying on the center screen when you shift into reverse. Driver Distraction from "Ghost Touching" and Loud Noise, Impairment of Integrated Safety Controls: In the 2022 Ram, the infotainment screen is often the only way to access or adjust certain safety-related features. Climate & Defrosting: If the screen is frozen or inoperable, drivers may be unable to activate the windshield defroster or adjust climate controls, which can lead to limited visibility in cold or humid conditions. There has been a recall notice for a similar issue with the camera systems not functioning properly and displaying on the infotainment screen however this is a completely separate issue that thousands are experiencing. The result is usually a replacement of the entire system costing upwards of 3000 dollars post warranty. These issues usually show up after the factory warranty. Mine is at 38,000 miles most are in that area.

I am in need of assistance with my most recent purchase of a 2025 Ram Truck with less than 3000 miles of utilization. After driving the vehicle for 45 minutes something didn’t seem right with the transmission. A multitude of error messages popped up on the cluster and the truck ended up in “limp mode” meaning it would not move. The Engine light comes on intermittently and I have legitimate concerns about the reliability and drive-ability of the brand new vehicle. When operating the vehicle in Round-abouts the vehicle looses the ability to accelerate and seems to lose propulsion which is a valid safety concern as well. The vehicle was returned to the Dealer for service and they have not addressed the issue only stating Chrysler Engineering has not yet determined corrective actions.

I own a 2022 Ram 1500 Bighorn with approximately 84,000 miles. This vehicle has repeatedly experienced a severe safety defect that began around 20,000 miles. On four separate occasions, the truck has suddenly decelerated in traffic without warning, would not shift out of gear, and in some cases would not shut off even when pressing the start/stop button. During the most recent incident, I was unable to pull over safely because the powertrain locked up, putting myself and surrounding drivers at extreme risk. My wife and I as well as a good Samaritan stranger almost got ran over while checking to see what's wrong. Police showed up and called for a tow truck, since the incident was happening in a state hwy. Each time I brought the truck to the dealership, I showed photos and videos of the issue, but the dealership claimed they could not reproduce it. Now the dealership is telling me I must pay $1,127 just for them to look inside the transmission, and potentially $2,800–$11,000 for repairs. This is a safety-critical defect that began well within the warranty period and has progressively worsened. A sudden loss of power and inability to control the vehicle is dangerous and could result in a crash, injury, or death. I believe this issue should be investigated for a recall or manufacturer responsibility due to multiple reports of similar failures in Ram 1500 models. I have videos of the incidents in 2025 at 80k miles, and a video in 2024 at 43k miles that show the live incidents.

While driving at low speeds in downtown traffic with the automatic stop/start system active, I stopped at a red light. The system engaged and shut off the engine as expected. However, when I attempted to accelerate, the truck stalled. The gear shift unexpectedly moved from Drive to Park, and the parking brake activated. I applied the brake and restarted the engine, but had to manually disengage the parking brake before continuing. At the next red light, the stop/start system again shut off the engine. Upon attempting to drive, the truck stalled a second time. I restarted the engine, but this time the auto stop alert and battery warning lights illuminated. The truck moved forward very slowly, appeared to struggle shifting into gear, and then suddenly lurched forward. I had to quickly apply the brakes to regain control. The vehicle is currently at the dealership undergoing inspection for a faulty tire pressure sensor and this auto stop system problem. This is the third time the truck has experienced the auto stop issue in the past two years. The problem has not been able to be replicated at the dealership and no repairs have been made.

I would prefer that the vehicle be bought by RAM due to the unsafe issues ie . (the vehicle stopped at a all of the sudden while driving ,the emergency brake activated while driving, the transmission gave out and would not accelerate while driving on the highway, my wife and I could have been killed.

I own a 2022 Ram 1500 with a 5.7-liter V8 equipped with the eTorque (mild hybrid) system. On October 24, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., I was driving southbound on I-25 when the battery warning light illuminated, followed by several other warning indicators on the dashboard. Shortly thereafter, the dashboard went completely dark, and I suddenly lost power steering. At that point, the truck was moving only on momentum. While I was able to brake and activate my emergency hazard lights, the vehicle eventually came to a stop on its own in a lane in the middle of the highway. Fortunately, traffic was moving slowly due to it being a Friday afternoon. This was a frightening and dangerous experience, particularly due to the sudden loss of power steering. I could have collided with another vehicle, or another vehicle could have struck me. I feared for my safety during this incident. The truck was eventually towed to a nearby Ram dealership, where the battery was replaced. I was informed that the battery had failed and, as a result, caused the entire vehicle to shut down. Approximately two months later, I began hearing a ticking noise from the engine—commonly referred to as the “Chrysler tick.” I had to return the vehicle to the dealership for a second time. Ram ultimately replaced the engine; however, I was required to pay approximately $3,000 out of pocket for the repair. Given these serious and costly issues, I am no longer confident in the reliability of the brand.

Dodge has a "safety" feature to keep the vehicle from driving off if the driver exits the vehicle with it in gear. The safety mechanism detects the seatbelt undone, the driver seat sensor and the driver door open. If someone gets out of the vehicle while it is in Drive, the parking brake is automatically applied, the engine put in park then powered off. My problem is this "safety" mechanism has been faulty from day one and the vehicle randomly puts the parking break on or turns off the engine, while I am in the driver seat, with my seatbelt on, and the driver door shut. This has left me stranded for several minutes in various places including half-in dangerous intersections. Dodge denies there is any problem and refuses to look at it. When I take it in they just park it in their back lot for 3-4 weeks without ever moving it then say it all checked out fine. I have been complaining for two years. I recently found a law firm with pending litigation for this issue. https://www.newsom.law/ram-stalling.html#:~:text=%E2%80%8BNewsom%20Law%20PLC%20is,without%20warning%20while%20in%20motion

On September 11, I remember because of the date, I was coming up to traffic on Flamingo heading east to Nellis Rd. As I started to brake the truck suddenly accelerated rapidly. I slammed on the brakes and barely stopped in time to not rear end the car ahead of me. I put it into park, then put it into drive and I made it home. This happened again yesterday October 6 as I came through the Carls drive through. Had to slam on my brakes again to stop.

Over the three years of ownership we have had four occurrences of random stalling when taking left turns, where the engine stalls out, and the emergency parking brake engages. This can easily be a life threatening occurrence as it happens in the middle of the intersection during the left turn and it takes time to confirm the car is turned off, then need to disengage the emergency brake and THEN restart the car, all while stuck in the middle of an intersection. We reported this to multiple dealerships, the one we purchased at and the ones giving us service. The Joe Ricci's Marlette Chrysler Dodge dealership ran the diagnostic test and did not find any error messages. This problem keeps occurring and needs a recall before more people our hurt and/or killed.

While driving the truck dashboard threw every light on, headlights went out, the truck shifted to first gear and would not shift back to higher gear, power steering went out as well. Received several trigger messages on the dashboard and was thankfully able to pull over safely. Placed the truck into park and the. Wasn’t able to place back in gear. This is the second time it has happened to me and Ram can’t figure out the cause or just doesn’t care. When researching there have been numerous other reports of this happening and Ram continues to shrug their shoulders making it the consumers problem. Second time I’m without a car and this time the dealer is claiming it will take nearly a week to even look at it while Ram says until Diagnostics there is no rental car coverage for the consumer. Had to have my truck towed after stranding me and my two kids on side of the road. Tow truck driver said he towed another 2022 Laramie just like mine last week and and that was his fourth time having the issue. He seemed to think it’s a sensor above the back window. This needs to be properly researched before someone is seriously injured as it happens at no particular reason.

The contact's mother owned a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that her mother had noticed that there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer could not duplicate the failure on some occasions, and the dealer replaced the fuel injectors on other occasions; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while her mother was driving 60-65 MPH, the abnormal burning odor was stronger. The driver pulled into a gas station. The contact's father was occupying the front passenger seat, and the contact and her child were occupying the rear seats. The contact noticed that there was smoke coming out between the bed and the cabin of the trunk. The contact's parents exited the vehicle, and the contact ran into the gas station with her child and asked for a fire extinguisher. The gas station worker went out to extinguish the fire with the fire extinguisher while the contact called 911. The contact stated that the vehicle caught on fire, and the fire originated underneath the vehicle, between the bed and the cabin of the trunk. The contact stated that the vehicle burned from the front side of the front doors to the rear end of the trunk. The front end of the vehicle did not burn, and the engine was in good condition. The fire was extinguished by two fire department trucks. There was no injury sustained. There was no property damage. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,350.
