Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Exterior Lighting1 complaint

On 03/17/2026, I reported a safety defect in the headlight assemblies of my 2022 Porsche Macan. Dealer inspection at Porsche of Tacoma confirmed small paper fragments marked with arrows lodged inside both headlight housings. The fragments have progressively become dislodged and are now at risk of becoming freely mobile within the sealed assemblies. A loose paper object inside the housing creates a plausible risk of ignition/fire, interference with adaptive headlight aiming or mechanisms, and impaired roadway illumination, any of which could increase the likelihood of crash, injury, or death. Porsche of Tacoma (service advisor: Jayce) acknowledged the condition but refused warranty coverage, stating the vehicle is one month past the warranty expiration. The condition is present on both headlight assemblies and appears systemic, not isolated to a single unit. I request investigation and corrective action, including inspection and free repair or recall if a safety-related defect is confirmed. Photographs and dealer service notes are available upon request. This paper has been coming loose within th housing for over one year, but 03/17/2026 was the first time it had been formally addressed.

Power Train1 complaint

I was driving the car and warning light “possible R gear fault-driving permitted” came on. While driving on a highway at 50 mph, gear shift started malfunctioning and oscillating between 2nd and 4th gears and I could not change the gears. I lost control of the car speed and it would drop to 25-30mph even if I stepped on the gas pedal. It felt like the car would come to a complete standstill on a highway with other cars driving around me at 50-60+ mph. I had my car towed to Porsche dealership. They spent 2 weeks at the dealership and said that they have replaced a transmission valve body. They told me to take the car back. Based on suddenly losing the control of the car speed on a highway, I did not feel safe to put the car back on the road. Porsche company offered money to cover rental car cost but refused to repurchase the car and provide me with another lease car. Although they were not sure whether this incident could recur and I told them that, for the safety of myself and other drivers, this car should not be placed back on the road. There are several Porsche owner forums which reported multiple identical incidents but both dealership and Porsche company were ignoring the owners’ concerns and putting the problem under a rug. This is a serious manufacturer defect and Porsche cars are known to have these transmission issues but no recall has been made to address such significant safety issues that may cause multi-vehicle accidents. They are also refusing to issue a statement that they would be fully liable if a similar transmission failure recurs and results in accidents that could potentially endanger the drivers involved. I would be happy to provide the car for inspection.

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other1 complaint

Hi - I hope all is well. I have had the below issues with my vehicle and the dealer is saying they cannot replicate them. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle and I’ve been complaining of the same issues since I got it. The speedometer flickers at random start time and when I drive, The radio still goes in and out after it was replaced. The car still randomly turns off at lights or ticket kiosks at the mall. It will ask me to restart the engine. This is insane. I didn’t pay for this vehicle to have such a bad and unsafe situation. This needs to be handled.

The air-conditioning system quit after 2000 miles of a brand new Macan-s. It starts blowing Hot air as soon as the A/C is turned on.
