Below are recalls and complaints reported to NHTSA for the 2024 Nissan Kicks. This information is consumer-reported and provided for general informational purposes only. Vehicles like this may qualify under California lemon law depending on their individual repair history.
The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Titan, Frontier, Infiniti QX60, Pathfinder, 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks, Infiniti QX50, and 2023 Rogue vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the driver's air bag inflator may absorb moisture, and cause the air bag to deploy improperly.
Reported consequence: An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the front driver's air bag assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD103, PD104, and PMA34.
The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.
My back windshield shattered by itself.
NHTSA #11714026
I was driving to work around 3:15 am on 1/20/26 when my back windshield exploded! There was no warning. I did have my defrost on. I thought someone had shot or thrown something at my car. I called the service department at my dealership and even spoke the Service Manager. He recommended that I speak with consumer affairs, which I did. I was told to file and insurance claim. Not only that, my window cannot be replaced with an identical window. Mine was tinted from the factory and they do not sell that window. I'll have to pay even more to have my window tinted to match the rest of the car. I did Google this subject and I see that many Nissan vehicle owners have had the same thing happen to their cars. Also I see where a class action lawsuit has been opened. I want Nissan to take responsibility. I was driving on a bridge in the dark - the noise it made was LOUD.

I purchased a 2024 Nissan Kicks from Courtesy Nissan of Tampa ( Florida) on 7/6/2024. I have 4011 miles on this vehicle. I should preface this letter with letting it be known that I have owned in the past A Nissan 1998 Frontier prick up/ 2004 Xterra, a 2012 Sentra, 2014 Crew cab Frontier PU, a 2019 Crew Cab Frontier PU , a 2019 Nissan Kicks - none of these vehicles have had the issue I currently have with this new car. It is a bit difficult to describe -so bear with me. The area where you put the gas pump nozzle into he the gas tank opening is Loose. It moves when filling up the tank. I have NEVER had this issue with any of the other Nissans I have owned. I took this car back to the dealer ship on Saturday 9/14 to have this checked out. I was told that this is not uncommon. I beg to differ with this perspective. I was told the mechanic " went to several other Nissans and found that they too moved" Well as I was sitting looking into the bay where my car was up on the rack watching the 2 people that were looking under my car - I did not see either of these 2 go anywhere. I believe that this is a dangerous situation as gas could spill over into this area and cause a fire if it hit a hot area under my car. I feel that the dealership was very indifferent to this possibility. As I was watching these 2 people in the mechanic bay - I did a little googling.

While driving my 2024 Nissan Kicks, I experienced an unexpected issue where the vehicle shifted from park to reverse. As usual, the doors automatically unlocked when I pulled up, and I exited the vehicle. However, just as I stepped out and turned away, the car unexpectedly jumped from park into reverse, causing critical injury to me. I have obtained an attorney.
Allegedly reported: 1 injury (as reported to NHTSA). NHTSA #11627968
Rear windshield cracked
NHTSA #11714356
My Nissan Kicks SV was sitting in my carport, with no temperature extremes and no weather when the back windshield exploded. I called the College Station Texas Nissan dealership and they said that my warranty did not cover the exploded windshield. My car is less than 2 years old and only has 13, 015 miles on it. The dealership told me it would cost me over 400.00 dollars to have the windshield replaced. I have explored the internet and found out that this is a recurring thing that happens to Nissan vehicles. Mine is not the first. I have a 4 month old baby that rides in the backseat of this vehicle. If the windshield had exploded while she was in the car, she could have been seriously injured or killed. This is a nightmare of a safety issue.

Rear windshield shattered while car was parked indoors. The car had been in the garage for several hours and the temperature was mild so underwent no extreme temperature/pressure fluctuation, rear hatch had been open for about 20 minutes as I was vacuuming the carpets. I was working in the front seat nowhere near the rear window - nothing came in contact with the window, there were no preexisting cracks or chips. The glass seemed to have shattered outward from the edges, as glass from both sides of the window was projected outward into the garage.

On the morning of February 24, 2025, I went to the doctor's office because I was really sick. Their protocol is to check in then go wait in the vehicle since you might be contagious to other patients. My mom had gone with me, and was inside checking me in. I am sitting in my parked vehicle at 7:35am when there was a VERY loud pop that scared the heck out of me! My mom said she heard it from inside the building, as did other patients sitting in the lobby! I waited a moment and looked around. There was nothing unusual so I exited the vehicle and walked around. I got to the back and found the whole back window was completely cracked, although still intact, and there were big areas on the sides and bottom, where there was more breaking of the glass to the frame. The temperature at the time was in the low 40s, and I had used the heater from the house to the clinic, which is about a mile away. The car was on, as was the heater, which I have done on many occasions with no incident.

The car was off and parked, I had been driving, and my grand daughter in the back seat. My grand daughter who is [XXX] old was getting out of the car from the passengers rear door and the rear seat belt locked and retracted around her , continuously tightened and was wrapped around her abdomen, squeezing and failed to release. I attempted myself to get her out of the entrapment with no success. I ran into the building for help, Four adults who were trained in child safety, devices attempted to activate the manual release mechanism described in the manual, but the belt remained completely jammed and trapped her, she was screaming in pain and due to the immediate physical trauma and emergency, we were forced to cut the seat belt to free my grandchild. Nissan Consumer Affairs was notified under Reference # XXX, but they have closed the file, refused to cover the repair, and explicitly refused to provide me with a copy of their investigation report. The seat belt retractor represents a severe safety hazard. I have called them and they state, case closed and no, we won’t be releasing the report. On Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 6:41AM, I was going to Starbucks located at 5378 W. Rosecrans Ave Hawthorne, CA 90250. My partner and I were talking, I was just about to exit to get my coffee then we heard a loud “pop” like a gun shot, and then the sound of shattering glass. We jumped, frighted, startled by the sound, immediately looking over at the back seat of my car window. We both exited the car, a man who was outside of the front of my car (just walking by coming out of Starbucks) heard the same sound, he exclaimed “what was that a gun shot?”, we both thought it was an active shooter! I ducked and took cover. I was scared for my life. I noticed a women exiting her car across from mine, assumed it was safe. I asked her if she saw anything. She seen I was shaking up, and my window was shattered. She did not see anything. She asked if we needed assistance to contact the police department. Starbucks employees and witnesses assisted as we were unsure as to what was going on, and worried. I suffer from epilepsy and asthma and I have health problems. It was a lot to take in at that moment; my partner was concerned for me as I was for him. The thoughts of being killed kept running through our minds, and so thankful to be alive, we were completely traumatized! We had to get

The main infotainment display screen in my 2024 Nissan Kicks failed prematurely and blacked out completely, rendering the backup camera and rear cross-traffic safety systems entirely inoperable. This failure poses an immediate safety hazard to myself and pedestrians, as I am forced to drive and back up daily with zero rear visibility, completely losing essential safety features regulated by federal standards. The defect has been officially inspected and confirmed by an authorized Nissan dealership service center on two separate occasions. The dealer attempted to process a warranty replacement but informed me that the necessary replacement part was backordered due to inventory delays. Despite complying with the diagnostic process, Nissan Consumer Affairs has severely delayed a resolution since January 2026. On May 21, 2026, a supervisor corporate representative (Nancy, ID 7319115) refused to cover 100% of the manufacturing defect, denied providing a resolution in writing, and explicitly prohibited me from recording the phone call to avoid leaving an official audio trail of their statements. I am filing this complaint because Nissan is failing to fix an active safety hazard on a practically new vehicle under warranty.

The rear body vent seal failed, allowing water to enter the vehicle interior. This component is available for inspection. I noticed a sloshing water sound, and over time there was excess interior moisture, including repeated interior window frosting that required scraping for visibility. A Nissan dealership later confirmed water intrusion and interior mold contamination affecting the driver-side floor, rear seating area, and trunk. The presence of mold inside the cabin poses a health risk to occupants, and ongoing water intrusion creates a potential risk to vehicle electrical systems and other components. The issue was confirmed by a Nissan dealership through inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle has been inspected by Nissan service personnel. No police or insurance inspection was related to this issue. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts indicating water intrusion prior to discovery. The only symptom was the sloshing water sound, which prompted inspection.

The contact owned a 2024 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 50-55 MPH and merging to the right lane, the vehicle continued pulling to the right, unintendedly even though the driver had straightened the steering wheel to drive straight. The contact stated that the passenger's side of the vehicle crashed into a guardrail, and the vehicle stopped. It was unknown whether the brakes were inoperable at the time of the incident. It was unknown whether a warning light was illuminated before of after the crash. The passenger's side roof rail air bags deployed. The contact stated that the axle and the front passenger's side tire were bent. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to an auto body repair shop. The insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. The dealer was not notified of the failure. Replaced on 12/13/24 along with gasket brake hose. 1/31/25 brake warning light on again. Dealership found the right rear C1BDB-13 actuator malfunction open. Unable to get code to reset. Replaced on 2/14/25 along with gasket brake hose. 2/19/26 brake warning light on again. Dealership found both rear actuators malfunction open and cracked (technician stated they were cracked in the video sent to me as an update), believe moisture getting inside parking brake calipers and freezing. I took my 2024 Nissan Kicks SV to the dealership with approximately 2000 miles on it. The vehicle as an increased concerning issue where, while idling in park with no one in the vehicle, the engine will have a continuous revving then loud click/clunk noise, return to normal, then start again. It’s been getting progressively louder. Dealership stated they were unable to replicate the issue and there were no codes/issues showing on the computer. It started happening around 1500 miles occasionally and quieter, but now at nearly 2500 miles it’s increasing in frequency and noise level. I’ve noticed it happens multiple times a week if not every time I drive the vehicle. This is very concerning for a new vehicle.

The fuel gage or DTE(Distance to Empty) started to malfunction after the last time the tank was filled up. It did not correct itself and now I can't get an appointment with the Service Department to have it look at.

Problem with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). I'm driving on a road with 2 lanes in my direction at about 35 mph. Approached a curve that makes a slight left turn in the road. There happens to be a bicyclist on the curve. As the car reaches a position where the bicyclist is in direct frontal view of the vehicles cameras/radar, the AEB activates, even though we're both on the curve and I'm not going to hit the bicyclist. The activation of the AEB lasted only a second or two until the bicyclist was no longer in my direct path, but the noise from the brakes activating and the sudden deceleration scared the devil out of me causing me to panic momentarily. If a car was tailgating at the time, they may have hit me. The AEB system should recognize that I was on a turn/curve at the time and not have activated.
