Below are recalls and complaints reported to NHTSA for the 2026 Nissan Frontier. This information is consumer-reported and provided for general informational purposes only. Vehicles like this may qualify under California lemon law depending on their individual repair history.
The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2025 Altima, Sentra, 2025-2026 Frontier, and 2026 Kicks vehicles. The door strikers may have been improperly welded and break, allowing the door to open while moving. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
Reported consequence: A door that opens unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion increases the risk of injury or a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the door strikers, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD185 and PMA61. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 28, 2026.
The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.
While driving North on I79 in dayligh I attempted to engage adaptive cruse control. The indicator lights on the dashboard were too dim to be visible and I was unable to tell if cruise control was on or determine what the speed setting was. After successfully engaging the control using buttons on the steering wheel the truck began accellerating strongly. I was unable to tell what the speed setting was but it must have been in excess of 80 mph as I had to turn the control off at that point. I returned truck to dealer and was told that lack of brightness for this indicator (and several others, such as turn signal indicators) was a design issue and could not be repaired by the dealer. I have tried every remidy I could find, even had the dealer's sales person take pictures of the dash while driving to verify the issue.

The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that after the vehicle had gone through a carwash, the contact noticed that the fuel door was open. The contact stated that the failure recurred upon taking the vehicle to the carwash a second time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was advised to apply magnets to the fuel door to keep the door closed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact expressed safety concerns because the issue could cause the vehicle to experience a safety failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact had missed and had attempted to return the case manager's phone call, but the case manager was unreachable. The failure mileage was approximately 275.

Purchased new 12.12.25, drove 3 miles and heard clunk in transmission, went into limp mode at mile 23. Flatbed back to dealer, they replaced Solenoid valve and said was good to drive. Drove away and still have loud clunk in transmission on downshifting. 1.5.26 Dealer still has vehicle, no resolution
