Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE

NHTSA #25V369000

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (Mitsubishi) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Outlander and 2023-2025 Outlander PHEV vehicles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Reported consequence: A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the A-IVI software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 30, 2025. Mitsubishi's number for this recall is SR-25-001. This recall replaces and expands previous NHTSA recall number 23V345. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 23V345 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Structure25 complaints

Good flutter at speeds above 45 mph or high winds. NTSB issued but not notified, recall should be issued as this is a safety concern, called dealer who stated a tsb was issued but I was not notified. Due to being out of manufacture warranty I will have to pay cost of hood replacement. Mitsubishi is not responding to my outreach. I first notified dealer of concern after purchase and was not informed of tsb, I was told it was safe and a design flaw.

NHTSA #11734989

The hood bounces and flutters. It is especially bad driving on the interstate. It is so much that I am scared to drive it.

NHTSA #11726195

The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65-70 MPH, the hood fluttered abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, and the dealer test-drove the vehicle and recorded a video of the failure for the manufacturer. The contact was informed that there was no repair available at that time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the hood was reinforced. The failure mileage was approximately 39,065.

When i drive on the interstate i noticed my hood shaking and seems like its going to fly open.

NHTSA #11737728

This model of vehicle (2022) has a known hood flutter that cannot be repaired. It's possible the hood latch could fail and the hood will fly up/open while the vehicle is in motion. My vehicle registration acknowledges a recall but it is not for the hood flutter. I've done research and it is identified on the internet that dealerships know this hood issue exist.

NHTSA #11707403

There is currently a service bulletin out for the hood to be replaced because it flutters on the highway, I purchased the vehicle pre owned at 61,000 miles, Mitsubishi won’t cover the repair because it’s over 60,000 miles, I feel like this is a safety concern as the hood flutters on the highway and I have 2 small children in the car most of the time one is an infant , they are trying to charge me $3,045 for the repair when it was the fault of Mitsubishi. I purchased the car preowned from Chrysler dodge jeep ram at 61,000 miles and there service department told me several times it’s normal and it’s fine, I finally brought it to a Mitsubishi service center and they told me about the issue. This should not have a warranty to be covered for repair it should be a recall , I’m worries the hood will pop open on the highway .

NHTSA #11617660

On a windy day or a regular day once the car get to about 45 mph or higher the hood begins to flap, bounce, vibrant as if it is going to fly open. As if the wind is getting under and getting ready to take it away.

NHTSA #11582697

While driving the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander at highway speeds the front hood flutters very badly. Causing myself stress that the hood will fly open causing a very concerning safety problem or accident.

NHTSA #11541140

The hood flutters and bounces up and down the entire time I'm driving making me too anxious to drive the car at all. I just bought the car used with 21,000 miles yesterday and noticed it after leaving the dealership to drive home. I have an appt for weatherstripping on 7/24.

NHTSA #11533365

Hood flutters badly when passing oncoming traffic. Specifically trucks. Sometimes it blows up about an inch or more and I fear it will come loose and open eventually.

NHTSA #11524753

Traveling at speeds over 50mph or heading into a strong headwind the hood bounces and looks like it will fly open at anytime. Took it do the dealer who were unable to fix it

NHTSA #11491550

The hood of the vehicle flutters when the car reaches 65 mph.

NHTSA #11506718

I have had this outlander since Sept of 2021 and the hood flutter is awful. A few attempts of installing weatherstrips and no change. I had the whole hood replaced and it seems as if the whole hood is even 10x worse. Its extremly distracting and can not be safe with the amount of movement it has. This is a distraction and safety issue. No change was made with the new hood. I’m going on a year with this vehicle and it’s problem after problem. The worst one is the major hood bouncing. (Yes, the hood is latched properly) it’s just getting worse week by week. I need an answer ASAP. This is not normal and defiantly not safe at all! It’s a matter of time when that latch gives and that hood comes up!

NHTSA #11478296

Hood flutters on high way. More violent at higher speeds and high winds.

NHTSA #11470453

The Hood flutters at speeds of 50 MPH +. As per the car dealer, this problem has been reported by multiple car owners and is noticed frequently in 2022 Outlander.

NHTSA #11471475

My problem is the flapping of the hood of my vehicle, this happens on the highway and in the city, this starts at speeds of 60mph or on roads in poor condition, with strong winds this gets worse it looks like it is going to fly away, I already visited 2 times my local dealer where i bought it but couldn't fix it.

NHTSA #11460187

The hood of the vehicle vibrates and lifts while driving, especially at higher speeds, causing alarm to driver and passengers. The dealership did not disclose the known issue when we purchased and was subsequently contacted within days of purchasing regarding the problem. We presented personally and was told rather than replacing the latch and seals like some dealers, our entire hood would be replaced as the manufacturer suggested. It took multiple unanswered calls to ascertain the status so the vehicle could be dropped off, ultimately we had to visit in-person to sort it out due to short staffing. After having the vehicle for 19 days to replace the hood, the new one has been painted twice as a result of defects in workmanship (paint) and is still experiencing the vibration and lift while driving. The dealership has requested we return the vehicle for further evaluation of the new hood’s issues. In addition to the hood replacement, the vehicle was serviced due to ‘sloppiness’ in the rear shocks during the same visit. We were informed they were not leaking or ‘blown’, and an alignment had been performed.

NHTSA #11467053

The front hood is structurally weak, causing flexing, bouncing, and fluttering. When driving over 55 mph, it feels like the hood is going to pop open while driving. It is a very distracting and unsafe feeling when driving on the highway.

NHTSA #11453437

The hood on my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SE AWD shakes at speeds 50 mph and higher. My Outlander was produced in November 2021. The hood shakes so violently that I am afraid it might fly open

NHTSA #11454462

Hood flutters excessively at highway speed. I don't want to drive above 60mph for fear that the hood and latch will fatigue and strain to keep the hood in place. I fear the hood flying off and causing an accident or fatality. This is a design issue that may be life threatening and is keeping me from utilizing the vehicle at highway speed thus diminishing value and causing excessive fear of endangering the highway safety.

NHTSA #11452808

When driving at a speed of 40 MPH or higher the hood flutters really bad. It looks like the hood is going to fly open.

NHTSA #11471223

When driving on the expressway at speeds above 50mph, the hood appears to lift up. Almost as if it’s about to detach or lift up from the base. I am worried this may cause an accident to my family or others.

NHTSA #11451621

Hood flutters or vibrates when driving 60 mph and above .

NHTSA #11454358

The car hood doesn't close tight enough and it feels like it will come open when driving on highway with high speed. Lots of vibration and movement in the hood cover. It feels like it is not securely shutt .

NHTSA #11450725

The day I purchased the vehicle I had to get on the interstate to drive home. I was going 65-70 and I thought the hood would fly up. It vibrates like crazy and flutters. It’s a serious safety distraction as you are looking at the hood constantly to make sure it stays down. I called the dealership and they said they had never heard of this and would have the service department reach out. They didn’t. It still happens everyday.

NHTSA #11460265

Other12 complaints

Driving minimum speed of 65mph and upwards the hood is flexing and fluttering. It appears as if the hood will become unlatched at any moment. Windy conditions make it worse. It is incredibly scary to drive not knowing if the hood will suddenly become unlatched

NHTSA #11568673

While driving, my moonroof window exploded. It was not struck by debris. I stopped to observe the damage and the glass was bubbled up and appeared as if it were pushed up. I took photos of the damage.

NHTSA #11567521

This letter is about a recent use car purchase, the car is a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. I purchase the car on 19 April 2023 at Mitsubishi Dealer located in Commerce California, I paid cash. The sale went OK until I ask for a second key-fob as my wife will be the second driver. I was told they didn't have a second key-fob and one would not be supplied because the vehicle is sold as is. I was not pleased about this as I paid more than $38609.00 cash for the vehicle. I pushed back, the dealer would not relent. I purchased a key-fob at Mitsubishi Redondo Beach California, I was told that the key-fob would have to be paired to the vehicle and that would be billable. I was really angry when told this, but had it be done anyway. My feeling was I paid a lot of money cash and I was being treated like my money didn't mean anything now that they have it. I spend four hours at Mitsubishi Redondo, I was told that that could not pair the key-fob because they didn't have the updated software. I was told to go back to Mitsubishi Commerce and have it done there. I return Mitsubishi Dealer located in Commerce California to have the key-fob paired. I spent more than four hours waiting for the repair. I was told that the newly purchase key-fob was defective, and to return the original dealer for replacement. I went back to Mitsubishi Redondo Beach California for replacement key. I was told that it would take about a week. I waited two weeks and never got a response, I called the dealer to get an update, I was told the key had arrived. I asked why I was not informed, I got a runaround about being busy. This the typical response I got when trying to communicate with Mitsubishi. They started the repair three hour later I was told that it couldn't be done because they didn't have the latest software. I ask when would it be available, I was told it could be tomorrow or the next day or next week. They said they would keep me updated. They never call with an update.

The hood shake very bad when you get up to about 60mph. It scares me because I feel like it may come unlatched. I’ve complained to the dealers everyone I go in for maintenance. Anyone I know who has one of these vehicles have the same issue

NHTSA #11501960

Received recall for infotainment. A-IVD screen may appear blank while in reverse. I did not have a problem with A-IVD screen in reverse going blank. But, after doing recall, now my screen goes out for about 3sec. ( Periodically not all time). Would advise if no problem with A-IVD don’t do recall!!! Now after contacting Mitsubishi they are aware of this happening to units with no problem. Ask to return to original software was told they will get back, well haven’t heard a thing!

NHTSA #11493506

During reverse, the infotainment screen would go black for about 1 to 2 seconds so I won't be able to see the rear of the vehicle. Vehicle never had this problem prior to being updated by the dealer. The dealer was never able to fix this issue despite being brought to their attention 3 times. They were going to inform the manufacturer but appears it was never done. I have contacted Mitsubishi customer service and they never called me or attempted to address the issue.

NHTSA #11508635

At 5,800 miles my engine light came on. I took it to Auto Zone to have them plug the reader in and the error was “P0403” related to the EGR valve malfunction. Of course like I mentioned in another report I filed today… after a few days of driving the car it magically turned off on its own so I did not take it to the dealership because the appointment was for days after the check engine light went off on its own.

NHTSA #11474886

No detailed narrative reported.

NHTSA #11472361

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - UNKNOWN and yes it is available for inspection Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Dealership said it is a problem that they cannot fix. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -Yes when purchasing the vehicle Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -No warning signs Whenever going over 45 to 50 speed theres a sound coming out from back, it started with a humming noise at first but now its getting worse and the back seat people can hear it loudly as the car travels over 45 to 50 mph. It is very distracting and we went to the dealership to fix the issue and they simply told us its a recent common issue and they cannot fix it.

NHTSA #11471344

My 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL special edition was purchased in December 2022. In February 2024, the fuel pump went out the dealership said it was not a recall, however it was covered under my warranty. Now, March 2025, my fuel pump has went out again. This is the second time and the third fuel pump counting the original in the vehicle. Even though it’s covered by warranty, it is still not a recall? How can a fuel pump go out two times in three years?

NHTSA #11649285

It sounds like its coming on and shutting off the fuel pump

Apparently the fuel system (fuel canister, fuel dispender, fuel vapor valves). It caused fuel, gasoline, odor to enter inside the vehicle cabin, causing dizziness and nausea to me, my wife and two kids. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. They try to fix it on 3 different occasions without sucess. As of today they requested the vehicle as they recognized is a safety issue and handed my a temporary vehicle. They told me that the repair date is indefinite as the parts doesn't exist in the US, and was order directly to the manufacturer (outside of US). I have knowledge about other persons that are experimenting the same problem.

Upon idling this vehicle reeks of fresh fuel. It has been reported to the dealer and they have re-produced the problem. However, they do not know what is causing it. I am worried about the smell of gasoline in my car. I am worried about the car combusting and I am worried about respiratory problems or health issues that may result from the constant exposure of fuel or gasoline fumes . The dealer is reporting to me that corporate office has been notified and is working on a solution however, they do not tell me what the solution is or if they can even identify the problem. I am only told that I am on a waiting list for a repair, and that many people are complaining of this problem. Where I live in Yuma Arizona, the summers get to 114°, and while this may exacerbate the issue it is not the cause and the smell of raw gas can be noted Even in the winter months. I first had the vehicle into the dealership on July 2022 for this problem. This is an ongoing, unresolved problem, and I am worried about my safety as well as the safety of others . When I first noticed the problem and brought the vehicle in, I received paperwork documenting the problem and the service report. The service department will no longer provide me paperwork proving I was there for a repair. They understand that this could be applicable to the lemon law.

I received a recall in April 2022 for a fuel pump. I have been in and called 2 different Mitsubishi dealerships over 25 times to get this recall resolved. Each time they say they are out of the part and I was put on 2 different list to be called once they get the part. They keep telling me the parts are on back order. I feel that if they have a recall it shouldn’t take now it’s been 10 months for the dealerships to get the parts to have this fixed. I have to drive my car to go to work and doctor appointments, so it not being fixed it puts my life and anyone around me in danger if the fuel pump just stalls.

I have had a recall on my SUV since March 2022. Every time I call Matt Blat Mitsubishi they tell me they haven’t received parts yet. So I called Mitsubishi Motors and was given a case number of 02621691 and was told a guy named Caesar would be calling me. He never has. So here I sit wanting my brand new car fixed and I’m being told it can’t be done cuz no parts but the lady at Mitsubishi told me the parts were released months ago

I’ve had it looked at twice at two different places and they don’t see anything wrong with it but when you hit bumps, especially going high rate of speed, it feels like you’re gonna lose control of the backend. When I looked online, there’s multiple people with the exact same issues and they take it in and they see that everything‘s tight and nothing’s worn out but even my daughter doesn’t like driving our car going down the highways because it feels like you’re gonna lose control. My car doesn’t even have 50,000 miles on it and I just bought it. The back end feels like it kicks out to the side.

The contact stated while driving at various speeds and making a right or left turn, there was an abnormal sound coming from the driver's side front wheel. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front driver's side strut bearing was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal gasoline odor coming through the A/C vents while driving and while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

Somewhere around 9K or 10K miles, the car would wildly react to road imperfections, especially the irregularities at bridges that are not in perfect alignment with the road. When I had the car to the dealer with about 12K miles to have the hood replaced due to excessive flutter (per a TSB vs. a recall), I reported the issue. The dealer found a leaking rear shock absorber. They ordered a new one (part 4162A504) but it was on backorder. I determined that the warehouse was doing a "controlled release" of these shock absorbers because so many are bad. One online seller told me at least 3,000 other people had this issue. I belong to several Mitsubishi Outlander groups on Facebook and see many other owners asking why their cars go all over the place when hitting bumps in the road - - they too are having issues with shock absorbers although some also report front strut issues (same parts supplier?). There is no way shock absorbers should totally fail at such low mileage, and when they do, the vehicles are truly unsafe to drive. The date under "additional details" is the date of the work order to fix the issue - but it began several months earlier.

My Outlander isn't even a year old. My rear suspension is completely shot. The back of my Outlander bounces all over the road and when I hit a bump of any kind it feels as if the rear of the car is sliding out from under and could spin me out. It is not a safe vehicle to drive especially on long trips. I do drive back and forth to work though as it is my only form of transportation. The dealership at first said there was nothing wrong, after showing them the second time they agreed that the rear suspension is shot.

The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle ahead unexpectedly came to a complete stop. The contact was able to stop in time to avoid a crash. Afterward, the contact became concerned because the Forward Collision Avoidance system failed to activate. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the system was reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The Forward Collision Mitigation camera failed, prompting the center screen to continuously blink and beep uncontrollably with no ability to turn off the blinking or beeping. The constant blinking locks up all controls such that you are unable to adjust any of the settings, and the constant beeping is loud enough to cause the driver to be unable to reasonably hear their surroundings and cause annoyance/agitation to the driver. The problem was inspected & diagnosed by Valley Mitsubishi in Longmont, CO. The problem first appeared on [XXX] with the warning light first coming on in the morning and the continuous blinking/beeping/lockup occurring by evening that same day. The car has a rapid war of rotors and break pads. The car inspected authorized dealer ship and they mentioned this is a very common issue on outlanders as the rotors, calipers, and breaks did not properly design for the wight of the car. It seems the manufactures and authorized dealer aware internally form the defect but do not take necessarily actions which may cause safety issue to owner of this make and model. After the dealer inspected the car i asked for the report but the dealership made all the report unavailable online and said they cannot provide any document

I purchased a brand new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander on March 3rd 2022, and 25k miles in I am experiencing rear braking issues. I took my Outlander in to the local dealership at 247 El Cajon, CA 92020 on 9/6/22 for an inspection, because my vehicle was making very loud screeching noise every time the vehicle went into reverse (without even touching on the brakes). Initially I thought something was wrong with the wheels, because the noise was happening without having to press on the brakes. Upon inspection, I was told that my rear brakes were at 2mm and needed to be replaced, along with resurfaced rotors. My front brakes are good, but my rear brakes have worn down, and causing a screeching noise. According to the service manager at the dealership, the noise is not exactly the brakes itself, it is a sensor pin that begins to scratch along the rotors once the brake pads start to ware down and needing to be replaced. This vehicle has never been driven out of state! This vehicle is driven in town taking my kids to and from school, and for pleasure and errands. I am not a heavy driver or braker. There is absolutely no reason why a brand new vehicle is already needing rear brakes at only 25k miles. I have done some research both online and by calling around to a few different Mitsubishi dealerships, and I spoke to Joseph in the service department at Victorville Mitsubishi; I told him my issue, he asked how many miles I had and he quote on quote told me, "You are one of the lucky ones, because customers have been coming in at 15k miles needing to replace their rear brakes." This is pure insanity, 15k-25k rear brakes need replacing? This is NOT normal wear and tear; this is absolutely a manufacturer defect that needs serious attention and a recall.

Structure,Fuel/Propulsion System3 complaints

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander that I financed through your bank. Since purchasing the vehicle brand new in 2022, I have encountered numerous issues that have caused significant inconvenience and concern for my safety. In the past two years, my vehicle has experienced multiple problems, including: 1.Randomly Shutting Off: Last year, my car began randomly shutting off. The dealership attributed this to sensor issues and claimed it was due to me pumping gas while the car was on. Despite this explanation, the problem persisted, and the mechanic only reset the computer system without fixing the underlying issue. 2.Fuel Pump Issues: Recently, on August 11, 2024, my car stopped working for several hours while I was with my daughter. I replaced the battery at a cost of $300, but the problem recurred the next day in traffic. After extensive delays and towing, the dealership identified a fuel pump issue, which is covered under the powertrain warranty but not the connecting parts, costing $1500 each. 3.Safety Recalls: I discovered that the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has several recalls related to faulty fuel pump wiring. Although I was initially told my model was not affected, the dealership later confirmed the fuel pump issue. Additionally, the hood of my vehicle was not welded correctly, causing it to flutter and posing a safety hazard. Despite bringing my car to the dealership last year under the original warranty, no effective repairs were made. I have been without a reliable vehicle and have faced significant inconvenience and safety concerns. Given these ongoing issues and the lack of resolution, I am requesting a voluntary repossession of the vehicle. I believe this is the only viable option given the circumstances.

Since May 2023, I've been to two different dealerships with the same issue. It started with a whistling sound form air vents, buring smell, increased has consumption, loss of power going up hill, gas smell inside cabin, no air, loud noise from right side of car under hood, and engine malfunction warning. Finally, 12/12/23 the car, without warning, instantly stalled, shut-off in traffic. Several vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid rear end collision at it was it happened in front of a school with heavy traffic! The car would not restart and had to be towed to dealership. I contacted Mitsubishi corporate office in Aug/Sept, and was assigned Bernedette, who, constantly confused and incoherent, dismissed my complaints as dealerships wouldn't fix bc Mitsubishi wouldn't reimburse. She stated if there was no code, the car could NOT be fixed! In total, both dealerships have had my car for 30 days or more. Currently, Edwards Mitsubishi, has had my car since 12/11 as back ordered part was hard to obtain. I want to go to mediation for Lemon Law in IA, as this car poses a serious threat to myself and other drivers. Mitsubishi is negligent and duplicitous by issuing erroneous and loose guidelines regarding repairs/recalls when vehicles owners present with problems known to Mitsubishi, especially 2022 Outlanders having fuel pump issues. I still can not get any assistance on the shaking hood!!!!

Two issues: 1: since the purchase of the vehicle the hood would bounce up and down while on the highway. The service team acknowledged this was a known issue and advised they would resolve. It has been 3 month with no resolution. 2: when the gas mileage drops below 30 miles left to empty the display changes to “—“ and no longer comunicates mileage left to empty.

For the past 3 winters since I had this vehicle when it is cold outside the vehicle starts hard or will not start at all requiring a jump. It will not shift gears, or accelerate. The battery light comes on after the vehicle is running. I have called the local dealership and was told this happens when it is cold. I was told to bring the car in and let it sit there when it's cold so they can try and re create the problems they stated the battery is fine. As of today the vehicle started to leak oil after it started hard. When i purchased the vehicle i had noticed the hood shakes and bounces when driving. I mentioned this to the sales agent and they stated it was a known issue and they would recall the hood but it was a timely process. It is unsafe to drive a vehicle that will not accelerate or change from reverse to park and then roll It is also.unsafe to drive with oil leaking in your car I have made my vehicle available each time there is a situation The battery light comes on but has been tested at the dealership in the last 2 months This happens every time it's cold i call and they tell me itsa known issue when it's cold. When i purchased the vehicle I noticed the hood bouncing I asked the sales person about it and they said it was a known issue and they would fix it when the parts came in. I should have been more careful as it was a vehicle right off the truck.

While driving down the highway at 70 mph, my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL suddenly shut off without warning, causing the entire dashboard and instrument cluster to go dark. In a matter of seconds, the vehicle unexpectedly braked on its own, decelerating from 70 to 0 mph in an extremely short distance. This abrupt stop nearly caused an 18-wheeler behind me to rear-end my vehicle. Thankfully, the truck driver was able to swerve just in time, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic collision. The situation could have resulted in severe injuries or fatalities. During the incident, all power to the vehicle was lost. The brakes became unresponsive and impossible to press, and the steering became extremely difficult to control, making it nearly impossible to maneuver the vehicle safely. This is the fifth time my vehicle has experienced this issue, with the past three instances almost ending in serious accidents due to the car’s complete failure to respond. After a few seconds of total power loss, the vehicle inexplicably starts back up on its own and operates as if nothing had happened. Despite this recurring and life-threatening malfunction, the dealership has been unable to identify or fix the problem after four repair attempts. Each time, they’ve tried different fixes: 1. Initially, a software update was performed. 2. Next, the ADAS controller was replaced. 3. Then, the body computer was swapped out. 4. Now, they are attempting to replace a power distribution system. Even after these numerous interventions, the problem persists, and the dealership has no clear understanding of the underlying cause. They have viewed a video of the incident that I provided, but no actual solution has been identified. The dealership has resorted to seeking advice from other brand technicians in an attempt to resolve the issue, but to date, there is no resolution in sight. This defect poses an imminent danger to my safety and the safety of others on the road.

This vehicle has been deteriorating since around the 10-15k miles. One of the recalls should have fixed something that was happening to my heater /ac not turning on. I would turn on the vehicle and the fan wouldn't turn on. I had turn off and restart the vehicle. this has happened multiple times. The display panel will turn off randomly while driving. the main problem is my car drifts to side. really bad. I feel really unsafe in it. i had to pay outside company to see what it was and have them continue to align my tires because it gets so shaky. i can't even attach a hitch to this. the car shifts to the sides really bad, even over the smallest bumps at low mileage. someone from one of the dealerships told me there was nothing wrong with my tires (i asked them to check it when I went for a recall). i was told the vehicle feels different b/c mitsubishi motor is now made by nissan. he thought i was dumb or something. i haven't been able to get this fixed b/c idk what to do. im not hte car expert. they are. i have to constantly align the wheels but i've pretty much exhausted how many times I can get them aligned. now apparently my shocks are bad? and mitsubishi won't sell the shocks to an outside auto repair shop.

After an afternoon driving in the rain most of the previous day my vehicle started to produce a clunking noise from the rear and front of the vehicle. I was able to stop at my mechanic near by and have them check the problem. My mechanic was able to diagnose the issue as a rear end differential coupler issue and said a bulletin had been posted about the issue. He was unable to work on the problem due to the specific equipment needed for the vehicle. I was able to call the closest dealership where they confirmed this was an issue they have been seeing more of this problem lately. So much so they had stocked that part and run out of that part. As I turned out into traffic I could have easily caused someone to rear end my vehicle due to the lack of engagement from the drive-train. Had I been on a busy road this would have caused an accident. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by my local mechanic in Shepherd, Michigan at 1st Street Auto. The vehicle is currently located at a Showcase Mitsubishi in Bay City, Michigan scheduled for repair on Tuesday September 9th where the part will be replaced. No warning lamps, messages were displayed. No other symptoms occurred before this incident.

On January 12 at 9:54am I was driving less than a 1/4 of a mile. I stopped at a stop sign and my cabin was filled with smoke. I thought it was coming from the engine so i turned the heat off for the car. I proceeded to the next stop sign and I then realized that my driver side seat was on fire and the smoke was coming out from between my legs for the seat was burning from the inside. I have taken the car to the dealership and it is reported that there is a faulty heating element in the seat. The car can not be started for each time the car is started the fire reignites. Due to the air bags being attached to this same control panel I can not drive the car off the lot. This car is a huge safety issue.

NHTSA #11602677

Steering,Power Train1 complaint

The issue with the car involves a problem with the steering gear box. The grease between the rack and support yoke seat has thinned, leading to increased friction during steering. This causes the support yoke to drag along with the motion of the rack, resulting in contact with the rack housing. As a result, a clunk sound and vibration are felt when turning the steering wheel, especially after the car has been stationary for a while. This issue is causing a loss of power and control while driving, making the vehicle unsafe. The recommended fix involves replacing the steering gear box assembly and recalibrating the steering system. The service report ID is: TSB-24-37-001

Power Train,Vehicle Speed Control,Service Brakes1 complaint

Persistent issue where the vehicle will loose all power to brakes, engine, instrument cluster and infotainment. This issue has almost caused 2 crashes out of the 3 occasions in which it has occurred. When the issue happens all power is lost as if the car were rolling in neutral while off, no indication of what is wrong or anything of the sort. It happened on the highway going about 65 mph, was able to steer (without power steering support) into the emergency lane as the car dramatically dropped speed. The brakes were also not being supported by the booster so it was extremely difficult to push the pedal, thankfully it was on a bit of an uphill. Put the car manually into park after it stopped, and by itself the car restarted, although some of the cluster components and infotainment components were very slow to restart. The next time this happened was in slow traffic, once again the car shut off with no warning of any kind. Once I managed to get the brake pedal pushed far enough for the brakes to engage, I managed to stop the car within a foot or so of the person in front of me. Once again, I put the car in park and it was able to restart on its own. Both times it has been to the dealer, Don Herring of Plano, and as helpful as the service advisor is, there is still no solution in sight as they keep changing electrical components left and right. I am worried about the car becoming a rolling ball of metal that I cannot stop one day. I hope Mitsubishi figures this problem out, otherwise its a fatality waiting to happen.

I was driving with shade closed and AC on for around 4hours since 6am from Alexandria - Lousiana. When I arrive in Dallas - TX I decided to open the shade from my sunroof glass and less than 1 minute as I open i heard and noise like a small explosion and saw a hole in my sunroof glass. The glass start to crack. Same moment I closed my shade and reduce my speed. I was 6 minutes from my Hotel. When I stop the car I saw that sunroof glass was in direction from inside to outside the car. Looks clearly that the explosion happened from inside to outside the car. I called to Mitsubishi Road Service and they sent a tow truck to send my car to Don Herring Dealer. After 3 days Mitsubishi called me and told by according pictures it was a rock that hit my glass and broken and they dont have nothing to do. Don Herring Dealer in Texas and Sport Mitsubishi in Orlando both of them assume that dont have any real evidence that was a rock because the glass exploded direction it was to up - showing that happened from inside to outside. I went to Safelite Glass company too and they told the same. As it is tempered glass must be broken in small pieces completely or total fallen inside the car. This looks like when I open the shade and because inside the car was too cold and outside was too hot had some thermical shock and sunroof glass not hold this situation.

I have a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander that I purchased July 26, 2023, from Ciocca Subaru of Philadelphia with a 100,000 mile/24-Month Dealership Warranty, an Extended Warranty in addition to the Manufacturer's Warranty, Ciocca Dealership Promise Warranty, Tire Warranty , Service, and Collision Care Program Warranties. The control arm broke as I was coasting in the parking lot of the supermarket on Wednesday, November 22nd, right before Thanksgiving. I was told on Friday by the Ciocca Subaru Dealer of purchase that the repairs had to be completed at a Mitsubishi Dealer, and told that it would not be covered in any of the warranties. Previous Mitsubishi Outlander's have had faulty/recalled control arms also. The vehicle was towed to Montgomeryville Mitsubishi at 1011 Bethlehem Pike, Montgomeryville, PA18936. To date, no one has looked at or egun repair and they refuse to provide a loaner vehicle. In the 4 months that I have had the vehicle, it seems that the fuel system is faulty also. I CAN NOT EXPRESS HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM WITH THIS CAR. You cannot use the review camera as the screen goes black or freezes. You cannot put the visor down as you will not be able to see out the windshield. If you go to push the gas the car stutters and sometimes shuts off completely. I bought my car brand new with 200 miles on it and after 6 months of driving it they told me my tires needed to be replaced because they were dangerous. After taking it into the dealership several times I was told that's just how the car is. Suspension,Wheels,Unknown Or Other1 complaint

I purchased this vehicle in March, 2022. As of January 23, 2023, this vehicle has 15,700 miles. I first noticed a problem approximately four months ago. Whenever I go over a dirt road, it feels like the back end of my vehicle is flailing out of control, as if there is nothing to hold it to the road. Because I very rarely travel a dirt road, I just figured this is how this vehicle handles, and I will just need to get used to it. Then I noticed when I would hit certain bumps or uneven spots in the road, I would rock back and forth. Again, just figured it was something I would have to get used to. I had already noticed that it hydroplaned worse than any vehicle I had ever driven, but blamed it on the type of tire which it had, and became hyper aware of any water on the roads. Even the tiniest puddle. Then winter arrived!!!! I am absolutely terrified of this vehicle on any kind of snow covered road, even if the road is barely dusted with snow. I constantly feel like I am going out of control. Whenever I have to cross a bridge in freezing weather, it literally feels as if I am actually sliding on ice the entire way across, no matter how short the bridge is. Driving in snow almost feels like you are trying to drive with a flat tire. You can not drive this car over 40mph on any road condition other than dry. In every instance I have mentioned, I feel like I have control over the steering and front tires, but nothing at all behind the front seats. Just recently, on January 22,2022, I noticed my one back tire is completely bald, and the other rear tire is not much better. I had never really looked at the tires, because, why would I on a nine months old vehicle with 15,000 miles?? I immediately, the next day took it to my Mitsubishi dealer. We were there for an hour and a half. They could find nothing. I was shocked when I looked closer at my paper work after getting home. It stated right on there that excessive wear on the rr tire has been a common issue on these vehicles.

The first incident happened prior to knowing about the fuel pump recall. My 16 year old was driving home with other 3 younger children and the vehicle just stopped driving while they were on the interstate. Thankfully he handled the situation well and was able to coast to the shoulder safely. At only 16 and a new driver, things could have gone very badly. I never dreamed my children would be in such a dangerous situation in my brand new vehicle. The vehicle would not do anything. I could not even lock the doors. It had to be drug onto a wrecker truck because everything was locked up. It was this incident that I learned about the recall. We had no vehicle for 4 days but the problem was “fixed”. Then a month later I was driving on the interstate and the vehicle just stopped driving again! It again completely locked up and nothing worked and had to be drug onto a wrecker. I went another few days with no vehicle and the dealership said they could not find anything. They suggested that I not let the gas go below 100 miles to empty that they thought the angle of the fuel line or something might be the issue. It’s scary driving knowing it could stop at any moment with no warning. I live in Louisiana and I drive the causeway often. It’s the longest bridge over a body of water in the world. No shoulders, no way off. Just 24 miles over a lake. I’m scared to death every time I get on it. And after the last incident my HUD and some other electrical things are no longer working. I have an appointment next week to have those things looked at.
