Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

NHTSA #24V676000

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Reported consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a center brake light that fails to illuminate can fail to indicate to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 77B.

STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS

NHTSA #18V675000

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The front track bar brackets may be improperly welded, which can cause the bracket to separate from the frame, reducing steering capability.

Reported consequence: An unexpected reduction in steering ability, can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the track bar bracket welds, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 17, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is UA5.

STEERING

NHTSA #19V201000

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Wrangler and 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles. These vehicles have improperly machined steering column stub shafts that may break, possibly causing the steering wheel to detach from the steering column.

Reported consequence: If the steering wheel detaches from the steering column, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering column, replacing it, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 5, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V29.

A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Reported consequence: The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020. Instrument panel cluster dashboard failure, found a massive recall online for Wranglers 2018-2024 for this issue, called dealer who informed us our VIN was not under this recall, but we have a Wranger 2019 with the same issue so should definitely qualify. Called JEEP who informed us our VIN was not under this recall and they won’t do anything about it. This issue is deemed a SAFETY HAZZARD per recall, and we do qualify but they say our VIN specifically does not. This has to be illegal as well as unsafe. Unable to see mileage, gas, safety alerts, etc. because of outage.

My steering wheel will lock up while driving, my windshield wipers start going off, spedometer goes to zero and won't work, the gas light goes to completely empty and won't move, when I push on the gas it won't go, my engine light goes off and starts saying service module and lists several different things. When I put it in park it won't shift into gear so I can drive it. I have to turn it off and back on several times until it will finally let it go into gear. I have tried to get it fixed and they said the ABC module needs to be replaced but it's been on National back order for over a year and can't find one available. I'm trying to find even a refurbished one and have not been able to.

Instrument Panel Cluster Failure: My instrument cluster failure has been an unrepairable issue for my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara which I purchased from Marysville Jeep in Marysville, Washington back in 2021 or 2022. It's been well over at least a year that I have been forced to drive this vehicle where I am unable to know my fuel level, mileage, or speed. I have had my Jeep at the West Hills Autoplex, Chrysler/Jeep Dealership, Auto Center Way, Bremerton, Washington, TWICE for this very same instrument panel cluster failure, and to date, it remains UNREPAIRED. My vehicle is at the same dealership NOW as we speak and has been there since 23 April 2025. I have not had the use of my Jeep for the duration of this time. The time before that, they had my Jeep for about 2 weeks and did not repair the instrument cluster. My associate at the dealership name is Colin. He's constantly informing me that they ordered the cluster but they have not received it because my vehicle was made in Canada. I also saw online that a recall has been issued for certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles, including the Sahara, due to potential instrument panel cluster failure. The recall number is 30B. I looked for this recall using my VIN on the NHTSA website, but it showed no recalls for my particular vehicle. However, I have this exact same problem with my Sahara. Colin informed me on 5 June 2025 that he has exhausted his last avenue to figure out why my Jeep still has a failed instrument panel that has not been repaired/replaced since 23 April 2025 and to basically come pick up my jeep or call someone else to help remedy this issue. Colin's phone number is (360)429-0384. He also gave me numerous dates that the new cluster was to arrive at the dealership, but to no avail. Also, in between the two times at the dealership, I took it to a repair shop who tried to order the cluster but could not get it, because the dealership is the only entity that can order the cluster. Thank you!

There is an active recall that was issued back in October 2024 for jeep wranglers 2018-2024 with the IPC (instrument panel cluster) going completely black. My jeep currently has this issue, I cannot see my fuel level, speed, odometer, oil and engine temps or any other vital information when driving. When I search my VIN number my vehicle shows I do not have any recalls even though the jeep has the exact problem shown in the recall.

NHTSA #11647359

My central instrument gage cluster has gone black, not being able to see important safety information and car notices. I can't see car info such as milage , fuel, safety warnings, tire information etc etc.

NHTSA #11645105

My IPC keeps flashing and going blank or black screen. I’m unable to see the information about my vehicle including fuel levels. I have not taken my car to a dealer yet since I am waiting for the new part but I saw that there was a for notifying that jeep wranglers from 2018-2020 had this specific issue yet my vin has no recalls.

Uconnect System pushed an update to an out of warranty vehicle. The OTA (over-the-air) update bricked (boot loop) the system that also includes the backup camera. The system continually reboots even with the car in the OFF position. If left, it will drain the battery and I cannot start the vehicle. I am forced to pull the fuse and am unable to use the backup saftey camera. No guidance from Jeep/Unconnect, as they do not post update files or a way to fix. Jeep dealerships want $1600 to replace the radio.

NHTSA #11618132

NHTSA #11655158

Loss of power on the highway, check engine light, battery light, PCM light, Service start/stop system light, stalling and shutting off when put into reverse. Code for MGU. It’s an etourqe Jeep Wrangler, no alternator and no aux battery. It’s been at a dealership since March 6th. They’ve replaced the MGU twice, which is a $15,000 part. They’ve replaced belts, belt tensioners, a crank shaft sensor and opened a star case and cannot remedy the issue. It still stalls and dies when put into reverse. Losing power and being unable to accelerate on the highway is exceedingly dangerous. The vehicle stalling and dying in any scenario is exceedingly dangerous. Not only to myself and the people in my vehicle but to others around me. The issue has been reproduced multiple times at the dealership and they cannot correct the problem.

NHTSA #11582075

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that rodents had damaged unknown parts inside the engine compartment. The contact stated that several wiring harnesses were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

NHTSA #11611243

My 2019 Jeep Wrangler has a defective instrument cluster panel. The entire cluster is completely non-functional — I cannot see the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, or odometer at all. This makes it impossible to monitor the vehicle’s speed, fuel level, or safety warnings while driving, creating a very serious safety hazard. I understand Jeep has already issued recall 24V-652 (Chrysler 30B) for defective cluster panels for 2019 and other Wrangler model years, but my VIN is not included even though I am experiencing the same issue. I am requesting that this defect be investigated and my vehicle added to the recall.

NHTSA #11689428

The dashboard panel does not light up. It just went out one day and never came back on. I cannot see my mileage, my fuel level or warning lights. I took it to dealership and they did a software update with no changes in dash panel. The dealership stated I needed a dash cluster replaced.

Steering15 complaints

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. While the contact’s wife was driving with the heated steering wheel activated, the driver attempted to adjust the steering wheel position, and suddenly an electrical short occurred, causing white smoke to come from the center of the steering wheel. The vehicle was immediately stopped, and the heated steering wheel and heated seats were deactivated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 82,000.

NHTSA #11717516

Filing this complaint regarding a known safety defect affecting my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport - specifically the steering damper column defect commonly referred to as "Death Wobble." ISSUE: My vehicle experiences violent and uncontrollable steering wheel oscillation when hitting bumps or road imperfections at highway speeds (typically above 55 mph). This phenomenon causes the entire front end to shake violently, requiring me to immediately slow down to regain control of the vehicle. This poses an extreme safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. I believe my vehicle has an issue with steering damper failure - the exact same defect addressed in Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 issued by FCA in June 2019. THE PROBLEM: While FCA issued CSN V41 covering approximately 192,000 2018-2019 Jeep Wranglers for steering damper defects, however my VIN was excluded from this notification despite experiencing the identical safety defect. FCA selectively applied the remedy to certain VINs rather than addressing all affected vehicles from these model years. SAFETY CONCERNS: This defect creates loss of vehicle control at highway speeds, significantly increasing crash risk. The NHTSA investigation (PE19-012) identified frame weld quality deficiencies and steering-related defects in 2018-2019 Wranglers affecting approximately 270,000 vehicles. Multiple investigations have documented steering looseness, steering wobble/shimmy, and loss of steering control in these model years. MANUFACTURER REFUSAL: Despite the known defect and my vehicle exhibiting the exact symptoms addressed in CSN V41, I believe once I take it in for service, Jeep will refuse to repair this safety issue under warranty, forcing me to bear the financial burden for a known manufacturing defect. REQUEST: I request NHTSA investigate why FCA limited CSN V41 to select VINs when the defect clearly affects a broader population of 2018-2019 Wranglers.

NHTSA #11704349

I am filing this complaint regarding a known safety defect affecting my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (VIN: [XXX] ) - specifically the steering damper column defect commonly referred to as "Death Wobble." ISSUE: My vehicle experiences violent and uncontrollable steering wheel oscillation when hitting bumps or road imperfections at highway speeds (typically above 55 mph). This phenomenon causes the entire front end to shake violently, requiring me to immediately slow down to regain control of the vehicle. This poses an extreme safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. DIAGNOSIS: A certified mechanic has diagnosed my vehicle with steering damper failure - the exact same defect addressed in Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 issued by FCA in June 2019. THE PROBLEM: While FCA issued CSN V41 covering approximately 192,000 2018-2019 Jeep Wranglers for steering damper defects, my VIN was arbitrarily excluded from this notification despite experiencing the identical safety defect. MANUFACTURER REFUSAL: Despite the known defect and my vehicle exhibiting the exact symptoms addressed in CSN V41, Jeep/Stellantis refuses to repair this safety issue under warranty, forcing me to bear the financial burden for a known manufacturing defect. REQUEST: I request NHTSA investigate why FCA limited CSN V41 to select VINs when the defect clearly affects a broader population of 2018-2019 Wranglers, and mandate a comprehensi INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The problem occurs in my 2019 Jeep Wrangler, suddenly, typically after hitting a small bump or uneven section of pavement at around 60–70 mph. The entire front end begins to shake violently, and the steering wheel jerks rapidly back and forth, making it extremely difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. The only way to stop the shaking is to brake hard and slow down below 50 mph, which creates a dangerous situation. This violent steering vibration causes loss of directional stability and could easily lead to an accident if it happens in traffic or during lane changes. The sensation is so severe that it feels as if the front suspension or wheels are coming loose. I brought my Jeep to Wallace Jeep in Stuart, Florida where the technicians confirmed steering instability but stated that the steering damper is covered but the steering gear is not covered under warranty. I also contacted Jeep Cares, case # [XXX], and was told that Jeep “does not have to cover” my vehicle, even though it falls directly within the affected 2018–2020 Wrangler JL range identified in the [XXX]. v. FCA US LLC class action settlement related to the Death Wobble. The dealership’s refusal contradicts Jeep’s own Technical Service Bulletin 08-074-20 REV. E (“Improved Steering Feel”), which addresses steering wander, pull, and excessive play by replacing the steering gear and updating the EHPS software — exactly the symptoms I’m experiencing. This is a serious safety issue that occurs without warning and has not been resolved through the repairs or coverage Jeep has offered. The manufacturer’s denial of responsibility despite a known defect leaves drivers at risk of losing control at highway speeds. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate and require Jeep/Stellantis to expand the recall or provide full coverage for all steering-related components contributing to this dangerous condition. My 2019 Jeep Wrangler is experiencing the "death wobble" every time I hit any uneven pavement while traveling at 60-65. This is extremely unsettling and could cause serious injury or death. Why haven't all the Jeeps during this time span been recalled considering the number of reports of this issue on the 2019 Jeep Wrangler?

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving over a bump in the road at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. The contact slowed down to 30 MPH to correct the failure. The contact stated that all four tires had previously been replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

In two separate incidents (six months apart) and without warning, the Jeeps power steering suddenly failed. An indicator warning did come on but not prior to the failure in both instances. In both situations, I was attempting to exit very busy highways and little to no control over my vehicle. Some time after I had exited the highway, the Jeeps powering steering suddenly came back on. When I returned home, I had the vehicle inspected at the dealership both times and they were unable to determine any reason as to why the steering would have failed and without warning. Without an identifiable and fixable problem, I am very concerned about my personal safety and the safety of others on the roadway in the event that this should happen again without warning.

Jeep Wranglers in the older/early models had aluminum steering steering boxes that would have excessive play do to thermal expansion. Jeep never made it recall but did provide a TSB NUMBER: 08-074-20 REV. B GROUP: 08- Electrical DATE: September 26, 2020. The TSB would recommend the aluminum steering box be replaced with a steel one. The issue is that many dealers refused to do the fix/change parts for free under or out of warranty. Its clearly an issue as later/newer models of the Jeep JL Wrangler started shipping with the steel steering box.

I have a 2019 jeep wrangler with under 50,000 miles. The steering damper is defective. I was experiencing what is known as the death wobble. I searched my vin for a recall. No recall is associated with my vin number, although there is a recall for 2019 jeep wranglers. I took my jeep into the dealer to have them inspect. They told me that the steering damper is bad and needs to be replaced. They suggested using an after marker sterling damper because the Oem part is garbage. I paid over $400 to replace the steering damper. I have called and chatted online with Jeep about this concern. Nothing is being done because my vin is not part of the recall even though I had a defective steering damper. The death wobble was getting really bad and I was afraid of getting into an accident. I believe jeep is being reckless and negligent with this lack on action.

I was stopped waiting for traffic to clear to make a right turn into oncoming traffic. I started going to the nearest lane I had available . When I was half way into the turn, the power steering went out. I had to react fast as there was a vehicles coming and due to the power steering failing it caused me to merge slightly into the middle lane. Luckily the other vehicle that was going to crash me changed lanes. So I pulled over and turned off the jeep, turned it back on and it drove normal. I have taken it to multiple shops and they stated pcm is okay battery is okay but they cannot find what nearly put my 2 year old son in an accident.

Immediate Attention Required – Vehicle Left in Dangerous, Inoperable Condition by Krietz Auto Dealership in Frederick, MD. I am writing with extreme urgency to request your immediate attention and intervention regarding a critical issue involving Krietz Auto Dealership. I have been a loyal customer of Krietz Auto since I purchased my vehicle from them in 2020. Recently, I brought my truck in due to a loud noise coming from under the hood. I was told the rear differential needed to be replaced. To my knowledge, there were no other major issues at the time. After the dealership had my vehicle in their possession for over a month, I was shocked to receive it back in far worse condition. Upon picking up the vehicle, it could not idle without overheating. I attempted to drive home with my young child in the vehicle, only to realize it could not travel over 30 miles per hour without the temperature spiking dangerously high. Tragically, the vehicle has now completely broken down and is no longer drivable. I am being forced to have it towed to another repair shop at my own expense. What was originally a routine service appointment has now escalated into a situation that has left me without transportation and has put the safety of both myself and my child in serious jeopardy. This level of negligence is unacceptable. I trusted Krietz Auto with my vehicle and my family’s safety. I now fear the damage was either worsened or created during the time the vehicle was in their care. I am respectfully requesting that this situation be thoroughly investigated and immediately rectified. This is no longer just a service complaint — it is a matter of public safety and accountability.

We are having continual issues with the visors on our Jeep where both the driver and passenger visors fall out of their mounting brackets. Not only do they impair vision, but the drivers one has caught in the steering wheel and almost caused a crash. Please note this vehicle is used solely for highway use and has never been off road. I spoke with the dealer and they said this is a known issue and recommended I purchase 3rd party aftermarket clips on Amazon or alternatively they could replace the whole assembly for a significant fee.

I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler, which is part of a recall for what is known as the 'Death Wobble', meaning that when driving over the smallest bump at highway speeds (~60mph), the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably. This is a known recall and we had it fixed through the recall. After the fix at the dealer, the same death wobble problem persists again. My Jeep just died in the middle of the on ramp to the freeway. We had to push it off to the side of the road. The lights all worked, the horn worked, the door locks worked and the radio worked. We tried jumping both batteries and it would not start and the dash would not come on at all. We had it towed to the dealership and they have had it for over 3 weeks and cannot find what is wrong with it. They thought it was the ECU but they said none of the modules are communicating in the vehicle. So they thought it may have a short so they started chasing wires. While driving with the sun visor down it became detached from the hinge and swung and hit my face causing distracted driving. It continues to hang due to the defect and is obstructing vision of the windshield for safe driving. The vehicle is available for inspection if requested. This is a safety hazard and an obvious defect with the part mounting the visor to the vehicle. I called the dealership and they confirmed this was a known issue with newer Jeep Wranglers and that the entire visor could be replaced for several hundred dollars at my expense. The visor itself is not the issue, it is how it is secured to the vehicle that is the problem. It appears as though it has detached itself from whatever was securing it safely to the vehicle. There were no warning signs or any issue with the visor prior to it releasing itself and swinging freely causing distraction to driving and possibly bodily injury. When spoken to, the dealership confirmed this is a known issue with the way the newer visors are designed in new Jeep Wranglers. Upon conducting online research, this issue is common and others are experiencing it as well. In a potential accident or general driving this visor could detach itself and be propelled possibly injuring the driver and passengers. This safety related defect needs to be recalled and fixed immediately and not at the owners expense.

In June 2025, I had the clutch recall (NHTSA 23V-116) performed on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler at AutoNation Jeep Southwest in Littleton Colorado. Prior to this recall repair, the vehicle had no transmission faults or warning lights. Following the recall work, I began experiencing a recurring 'Service Transmission' warning. On a return visit, the dealership discovered they had incorrectly reinstalled the shifter cables during the recall repair, making it difficult to shift into first gear. The cables were redone. The 'Service Transmission' warning continued after the cable rework. The dealership performed a software flash on a subsequent visit, which did not resolve the issue. The vehicle later experienced a 'Service Transmission' warning accompanied by a clutch overheat alert and limp mode activation. The dealership has since diagnosed fault codes P082C and P082F (gear lever position sensor circuit high) and is recommending a transmission range sensor replacement at my expense. The dealership has acknowledged they cannot confirm the root cause of these codes. When I contacted Jeep Customer Care, they called the dealership and accepted their assessment that the issue is unrelated to the recall repair. I believe the ongoing fault codes are a direct result of the defective recall remedy, specifically the incorrect shifter cable installation and subsequent cable disturbance during rework. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the recall remedy as performed at this dealership is defective.

I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler JLU, which currently has a recall out because the clutch pressure plates are apparently bad. I realized today that the symptoms of that recall are EXACTLY what I have been experiencing for several months now. I went to the local Jeep dealer (Wallace Jeep in Stuart, FL) and they said there was nothing they could do because Jeep has not put out parts to remedy the recall yet (even though it's been about a year). They confirmed that clutches have been a problem and it is a serious issue, but I would have to continue to drive it until Jeep put out parts. This is extremely unsafe and the fact that they know how unsafe it is and are still telling customers to drive it until they get the parts figured out is ridiculous.

Sometime in January of 2019, while living in Florida my Jeep had recall work done to make repairs related to the “death wobble” prevalent in 2018-2020 Jeeps. In 2020, after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced the death wobble. I then took my vehicle in to Orlando Chrysler, and was informed that when the recall repair was done, the part involved was installed backwards. The completed the necessary repair. I had not experienced the situation again until yesterday, when I picked up my Jeep from the Dodge dealership in Greenville, South Carolina, where Another recall was being dealt with. I returned to the dealership and was told in no uncertain terms they did nothing, and because there are no outstanding recalls on the vehicle related to the death wobble, they are under no obligation to do anything about it, including checking to see if the previously recalled parts that were replaced need replacing again. However, as it is occurring again my Jeep is once again unsafe to drive.

Our 2019 Jeep recently experienced the “death rattle” where the steering and suspension shake violently at speeds 65 mph and above. This recently occurred on a 70 mph freeway and nearly caused a sideswipe accident with a large semi as I was thrown from my travel lane. The Jeep owners forum (and Fiat Chrysler America) know about this issue with the steering dampener, but neither the NHTSA nor FCA has seen fit to issue a warning or recall. Our Jeep is never taken off-road and is under 60,000 miles. We are the original owners, and the Jeep is currently with the dealer.

while driving on Interstate Highyway aproximately 65 MPH and passing over a bridge the front end started shaking violently. I hit the brakes and it finally stopped as I slowed. It did this 6 times on the same trip and has repeated multiple times. I took it to the dealer and told them it had done this when I first bought it and they said they would have to evalaute it. When I first bought the car it had 19k miles on it with this death wobble. They said it needed a recall accomplished and it never happened again. Now the car has 71k miles on it and it is happening again. The dealer says they have to order a part. I believe the car is unsafe to drive on an interstate with this condition. Also owners with similar Jeeps have to be aware that this condition which was fixed with a recall can return after so many miles. They will not tell me the component or part number of the component.

While driving at interstate speed and passing over an irregular surface the jeep started to shimmy and I later found out it was called "Death Wobble". The jeep started to wonder across the lanes of the highway and I had to slow to 45 mph to stop the shimmy and get control of the vehicle, I assume the the problem is in the steering or the front suspension. After talking to a mechanic I found out that a recall has already been performed to replace the steering vibration damper. The mechanic could not find any loose or damaged front end parts upon inspection. Since the initial incident the shimmy has happened multiple times at slower and slower speeds. There was no prior warning by the jeep instrument panel.

Had damper replaced due to death wobble at 39k miles under extended warranty related to FCA lawsuit. At 59k miles experienced same death wobble and nearly crashed at highway speeds. Took it in and they said the cause was the tie rods were bad, damper was within threshold, but would replace it too as a courtesy and abundance of caution. Wouldn’t do damper replacement without tie rod fix though. Didn’t have damper and would take 5 days to get in (1 day for tie rod part), but when I stated I wanted to repair it they miraculously came up with all the parts and had it finished before tie rod part even showed up. My complaint is that the original FCA lawsuit where they replaced damper was a bandaid for the real problem which is the tie rods. I paid the $2500 but will be pushing this up the chain of command. I know the lawsuit alluded to the damper not being the root of the problem but a cheaper fix for Jeep. The entire experience has been shady at best. ABS module has failed, according to dealership. The car has been in the service department at the dealership four times now in the past month. All of the warning lights go on, the car drives sluggishly, and I am told the car is undrivable due to the potential loss of brakes. When they went to program the ABS Module, it froze up and they had to order another one that took a week to get in. They replaced it again and told me, it was fixed. I picked it up on Wednesday, July 8th, around 5:00 pm and on that Friday, July 11th, at noon my check engine light came on again. I’m taking it in tomorrow to see what it is this time. This isn’t a recall fix it’s a nightmare. It wasn’t having a problem before but now it warning messages act like it’s going to burn up. There is NO burning smells no rough gear changes. Afraid to drive it.

Shortly after starting the vehicle and entering roadway, the power steering failed and shortly following an error came on regarding the ABS system. I was able to pull the vehicle over safely, restart and the issue seemed resolved in that use. Next day, shortly after starting vehicle, same errors occurred, but self corrected. The day after that, shortly after starting the vehicle, all systems on the front panel cycled through several error codes, when attempting to shut the vehicle off to restart it, the vehicle would not shut off. Using the standard transmission, I was able to create a stall situation, but the vehicle's electrical would not shut off. After removing the key fab, the electrical system kept activating power systems, even turning on the windshield wipers when the control was in the off position. After 20 minutes and several attempts I was finally able to get the system to completely shut off.

NHTSA #11667675

While driving I received random warnings on the dashboard: airbag failure, power steering failure, shift control failure, ABS failure. After the flashing of all those warning, I lost the power steering and the ability to shift from Drive to Neutral. My inability to steer the car and loss of speed put my passengers and myself at risk and the safety of cars driving on the opposite lane at risk as I was able only to make very wide turns. I took the car to the dealer and after about two weeks the mechanic narrowed down the problem to a failure of the ABS module and told me that that part is on backorder nation wide and may take over 3 months to come. I was advised to not drive the car or to drive at my own risk.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has a bulletin about coolant leaks in Jeep Wranglers with 2.0L engines: Bulletin: 07-001-20 REV. A, dated April 9, 2020 Vehicles affected: Jeep Wranglers built before November 30, 2019 with a 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo Engine or 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo Etorque Engine Issue: The coolant inlet tube fasteners may become loose, causing a coolant leak Solution: Remove the coolant inlet tube fasteners, clean the threads, add Thread Loc, and reinstall Tightening torque: Tighten to 11N∙m (8ft. lbs.) A coolant leak can cause the engine to overheat and potentially lead to engine failure. Engine fan was not shutting off after leaving a covered parking garage and an engine alert appeared and displayed that the engine was overheating. Had my jeep towed home. We were able to see that the main coolant reservoir was empty and that there was dry coolant all around the engine. Our jeep has not been fixed and is not drivable. Need guidance as there isn’t a recall on this but a known issue, and you have a bulletin out about it.

I pulled over off the high way thankfully in a safe spot and it locked up. The steering wheel locked the shifter couldn’t move. Turned the car off and back on it was clicking but not turning off. Had to get it towed. There were no loud noises no oil leaking nothing. No indicators before hand of the Jeep needing oil change or misfiring. Got it diagnosed and they said my engine seized up and I had blew a piston. WITH NO WARNING or indicator of anything in the months weeks days prior. My engine light never came on.

I drove over a rough patch/bump in the road. A ton of warning messages and failure lights activated on the dash. In addition to the check engine light, there were warnings for electronic stability protection, sway bar disconnect, ABS failure, power steering failure, shift lever malfunction. In addition to these malfunctions a failures, the windshield wipers turned on un-commanded and the radiator fan went into the highest possible speed, the digital engine temperature gauge failed, and both the digital and analog speedometers failed. This happened on a arterial road, losing power steering and braking at ~30mph unexpectedly was a shock, but manageable. At highway speeds it likely would have led to an accident or collision. Unfortunately, I don't have any documentation of the failure lights and systems failing, but it had happened several times prior to this occurrence, albeit only with dash warning lights, no actual system failures. After the system failures, I stopped driving the vehicle. The problem appears to be somewhat widespread and is caused by a failing CAN-C BUS. A quick google search will reveal NUMEROUS descriptions on the same dangerous issue. This thread seems to clearly expIain the root of the issue with the CAN-C BUS: [XXX] I replaced my old CAN-C BUS (p/n 68321746AA) with a new part and it appears to have resolved the issue. Fuel/Propulsion System2 complaints

We were exploring some remote mountain roads on Saturday 11/23/2024. The Jeep was running fine and nothing abnormal was observed. We stopped for lunch at an area with a nice view. We made sandwiches and took our time eating. After packing up, we jumped back into the Jeep to continue our journey. I started the Jeep and we immediately smelled fuel. I turned the Jeep off to investigate and found a large amount of fuel on the ground under the rear area of the engine. I had my wife start the Jeep again briefly to see where the gas was coming from. As soon as she started it, an ALARMING volume of fuel began to spray all over the exhaust and turbo. The high pressure fuel line from the gas tank to the high pressure fuel pump on the rear of the motor had ruptured and was dangerously spraying an enormous amount of fuel all over the rear driver side area of the engine bay. We were lucky in that we had stopped for lunch and the exhaust had cooled down and did not ignite the gas. We were unlucky because we were stranded in the backcountry with a vehicle that was inoperable. Fortunately, we were able to get the Jeep off of the mountain and back onto the trailer 5 hours after the incident and before dark. Had the timing of the failed fuel line been different, I could have been driving down the road or highway with a hot exhaust and the Jeep would have ignited and caught fire very quickly. What is even scarier to me is that I take my two toddlers to day care every day in this Jeep. Had a vehicle fire ignited with the amount of fuel that was spraying (and would have continued to spray if the Jeep was left on) would have engulfed the Jeep very quickly. Who knows if I would have been able to get both kids out of their car seats in time to save them. This is very dangerous! I know there have been many Jeep JLs that have caught fire. I have an example of the failure that is likely causing these fires! The part is available for inspection.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? After diagnostics of multiple 'no communication' codes, it was determined that the CAN buss star connector was faulty. The part has been replaced, but is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The malfunction caused repeated warning lights and loss of steering at unpredictable times. Luckily I was always able to put on my hazard lights and get out of the path of traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, a variety of warning lamps and messages over a period of 10-12 days, which would disappear after restarting the vehicle (restarting was necessary to get the steering working again). Messages such as traction control, auto on/off, and check engine light were a few different ones. They came and went so quickly it was hard to catch them all while I was focused on getting safely off the road.

Concern: Suspension, steering, and electrical system malfunction Description of the Problem: While driving at highway speeds (approximately 75 mph), the vehicle experiences a wiggling or unstable sensation in the suspension, making the car feel unsafe. At the same time, the steering wheel becomes stiff and difficult to turn. Additionally, a warning message appears stating “Service Shifter.” When this occurs, the electrical system freezes, affecting vehicle functions. This electrical malfunction lasts for 1 to 2 days, during which systems do not respond properly before eventually resetting on their own. Safety Concern: The suspension instability, loss of steering responsiveness, and electrical failure at high speeds present a serious safety risk to the driver and others on the road. Request: Requesting a full inspection of the suspension, steering system, shifter system, and electrical components, including any sensors or modules that may be causing these failures.

Visibility/Wiper1 complaint

I am reporting a defect with the driver-side sun visor on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The sun visor mounting mechanism is faulty and has broken/detached during normal use. When this occurs, the visor drops down unexpectedly and obstructs the driver’s forward view. This creates a serious safety hazard, as the visor can suddenly block visibility while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash. The failure happened without excessive force or misuse, only routine flipping and positioning of the visor. I am aware that many other owners of 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited vehicles have experienced the same sun visor failure, suggesting a widespread defect in the design or materials used. This appears to be a known and recurring issue affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I believe this defect should be investigated as a safety-related issue and considered for a recall, as it directly impacts driver visibility and safe vehicle operation.

Power Train,Electrical System,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

The 48V eTorque Power Pack Unit (PPU), BPCM, and associated cables failed on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler, causing the vehicle to stall and lose all acceleration while driving on the highway. All components are available for inspection upon request. In June 2025, a non-Jeep service center identified stored diagnostic code P0A9C-00 (48V hybrid battery temperature sensor circuit performance failure) along with multiple low voltage codes in the power steering system. The technician noted the issue needed to be addressed by an authorized Jeep dealer, as there was insufficient information to perform a repair on the 48V hybrid system. In September 2025, while driving on the highway, the engine stalled and the vehicle completely lost acceleration and would not restart. The vehicle required towing to an authorized Jeep dealer. A sudden and unexpected loss of acceleration and engine stall on a highway creates an extreme risk of rear-end collision and potential serious injury or fatality to the driver and other motorists. The problem was confirmed by an authorized FCA/Jeep dealer who found the same diagnostic code P0A9C-00, along with corrosion buildup on the 48V connector pins and BPCM pins. Two separate FCA STAR cases were opened by the dealer. The Power Pack Unit Battery was identified as the failed component. The dealer confirmed that the 48V cables required for repair are currently unavailable through Chrysler under any parts specifier, meaning FCA cannot supply the necessary parts to remedy this known defect. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized FCA dealer on two separate occasions nine months apart, with the defect remaining unresolved on both visits due to FCA parts unavailability. Warning symptoms including low voltage codes and the P0A9C-00 fault code were first identified in June 2025, approximately three months before the highway stall event, indicating this was a progressive and worsening defect. The issue was first reported in June 2025 and remains unrepair

The instrument panel cluster that shows the speed, odometer, and fuel levels has been sporadically 'going out' while driving. On Friday 7/18, it went out completely and did not come back on. This affects safety of driving in that I have no idea how fast I'm driving or fuel levels. I have to rely on iphone capabilities for speed, which is not as accurate. The problem has been inspected by a mechanic and he indicated that the Instrument Panel Cluster would need to be replaced at a cost of close to $2,000. He indicated that there was a recall on 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler models involving a safety issue with the IPC and that it may experience a short circuit and fail, potentially causing the display to go blank and hindering the driver's ability to see critical information like speed and warning lights. Recall# 24V652000 indicated this failure could increase the risk of a crash. Per the mechanic recall info was sent October 2024 yet I did not receive anything. My 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 2.0 liter turbo engine has had two failed “Rear Axle Assemblies or differentials” within 3 years of each other. The first time was in July 2022, and my service repair order says rear Diff replacement. Now this time, my dealer is saying we need the whole rear axle assembly which is on national back order. No current ETA for delivery, with no additional info other than none are even in production at this time. Since my vehicle is under warranty for another 4,000 miles or so, I would like to use Stellantis warranty for my repair. However, They are no help and are saying we cannot order a different OE part, or a used part. The vehicle is unsafe to drive as I can feel my loss of control especially on wet roads in Florida. After searching the internet I have found this is a common problem with the sport, and Sahara versions from 2018-2025. Now that we can’t even get replacement parts, it creates a whole other set of problems. I would like to mention everything is factory on my Jeep and I have never been off roading. Not even once. My Jeep Wrangler's instrument cluster randomly shut down while driving. This means I couldn't see the electronic speedometer, odometer, or any other information on the dashboard. There weren't any warning lights before it failed. I had the dealer fix it, but Jeep wouldn't cover the entire cost of the repair, even though the dealer confirmed there was no water damage or external cause. It seems like the instrument cluster just malfunctioned and fried. This appears to be a recurring issue with Jeep Wranglers, and it's concerning that Jeep isn't taking responsibility for a problem that could be a safety hazard, especially when using features like adaptive cruise control that relies on the digital screen. Attached is the repair order and invoice detailing the problem. I also have a video of it mid-failure if you need it. This shouldn't happen with a vehicle at 46K miles, major safety concern.

Electrical System,Service Brakes,Engine1 complaint

So driving about 50-55mph, the dash lights lite up like a christmas tree. Everything from ABS, shifter lock, sway bar, airbags, traction control, aux battery and some other things that i can't remember. Engine lost power, power steering and unable to shift out of park. I took to my local dealer, I didn't buy it from them, and they diagnsoed the issue of a faulty ABS module. This module has been in the stage of "engineering" for over a year. I spent $900 on one ABS module that was available out of 5 in the US from another dealer and to get 20 minutes down the road only to have it happen again. The vehicle was at the dealer for 5 weeks. The new part was to become available on May20th. Two days ago the service manager called to tell me that they pushed the date to Aug 20th. This will be almost 2 years in this process with this part. The manager then proceeded to tell me it will probably be longer as Jeep went to a new vendor and it is redoing the part. I know of hundreds of other owners in the same boat. Jeep star techs say they can't diagnose past this part so I am paying on a big paper weight since November 23. I have started a case with Jeep customer care only for them to say they can't do anything financially or anything other than help expedite the issue. This is a lost cause as it is still being developed 2 years later. My GM of the dealership said he has 4-5 others at his lot in the same boat and a number of other owners with vehicles like myself at the house. I feel the need for someone to put pressure on the vendor to help with getting a recall on this situation.
