Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:PARK PAWL

NHTSA #25V574000

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Dodge Charger and Jeep Wagoneer S electric vehicles. An incorrectly installed spring may cause the loss of the park function when the vehicle’s gear selector is placed in the park (P) position, which can result in a vehicle rollaway. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Reported consequence: A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the electric drive module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 25, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 63C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 11, 2025.

STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS

NHTSA #26V141000

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles. The liftgate hinge cover may not be properly clipped into position and may detach from the vehicle.

Reported consequence: A detached hinge cover can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect, repair, or replace the hinge cover as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 1, 2026. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 26D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 19, 2026.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

NHTSA #26V262000

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger electric vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument panel display to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment," 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles," 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems," 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System," and/or 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Reported consequence: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as gear selection and warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 39D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 30, 2026.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

NHTSA #25V174000

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S battery electric (BEV) vehicles. The headlight vertical aim adjustment is not accessible, and the horizontal aim adjustment is not covered as intended. As a result, the headlights may not be able to be adjusted properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Reported consequence: Incorrectly adjusted headlights can reduce driver visibility or create a glare for oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will remove the plugs from the vertical aim and install plugs on the horizontal aim, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 3, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 23C.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL

NHTSA #26V059000

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, Ram 4500 Cab Chassis, Ram 5500 Cab Chassis, and 2026 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. Due to an improperly designed trailer tow module, the trailer lights may fail to illuminate and the trailer brakes may fail.

Reported consequence: Trailer brake lights and turn signals that do not illuminate reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, trailer brakes that fail increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the trailer tow module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning March 17, 2026. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 03D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on February 10, 2026.

Vehicle accelerated after foot removed from pedal causing the vehicle to strike the inside of garage wall.s

NHTSA #11729788

I was stopped at a red light on a busy road. When it turned green and i accelerated the car would not move. It jerked and the dash lit up lioke a Christmas tree. A big red turtle came up on the dash and I was able to move but only 5-7 miles per hour. I drove the 8 -9 mile home at only 7 miles an hour while being honked at and near misses from the heavy trraffic. The vehiocle was towed to the dealership and I am being told that the manufacturer is aware of the problem but there is no current fix. They may actually try to return the vcehicle to me as is, but I do not feel safe driving it. On a side note, tis is the 5th time the vehile has been in the shop in the 6 months we have owned it.

Electrical System,Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance2 complaints

1. Brake Booster Failure: On [XXX], my Wagoneer S experienced a brake booster failure, rendering the brakes inoperable. The vehicle displayed multiple error messages but still showed a misleading “Ready to Drive” message, falsely indicating it was safe to operate. The SUV was towed to SouthPointe Jeep in Tulsa on June 28, 2025. I was informed the required brake booster part is backordered until at least July 21, 2025, leaving me without a safe vehicle for nearly a month. 2. Uconnect System Freezing During Backup Camera Use: Approximately 70% of the time, the Uconnect system freezes shortly after starting the vehicle, then reboots. Critically, this often happens while backing up using the rear-view camera — the screen freezes mid-maneuver, creating an extreme hazard for collisions with pedestrians or other vehicles. 3. Other Ongoing Problems: Persistent door rattling and poor build quality. Intermittent braking response or acceleration hesitation. Multiple software glitches, contributing to system instability. NHTSA #11672058

Supplemental Update to Complaint No. 11672058 This is an update to my July 8, 2025 complaint regarding a brake booster failure on my 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S. The vehicle has remained in dealer custody at South Pointe Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Tulsa, Oklahoma since June 28, 2025 and is still out of service. Although a brake booster replacement was installed, the dealer has not identified a root cause and has not confirmed that the braking system is safe or reliable. The original defect involved a complete loss of braking while the vehicle displayed a Ready to Drive message, creating a severe safety risk. No assurance has been provided that this condition cannot recur. The issue appears to involve braking and electronic control systems, but no effective resolution has been documented. Due to the unresolved nature of a total brake failure and the continued inability to return the vehicle to safe operation, I am submitting this update for safety defect tracking and potential investigation. The vehicle remains unavailable for use due to ongoing safety concerns.

Electrical System,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

I am filing this complaint because this vehicle has had multiple intermittent safety-related electrical/software and driver-assistance problems, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has powered on but would not shift out of Park into Drive. The most recent time, I was leaving work and the vehicle would not let me shift into Drive. I was stuck there for about two hours and had to call for a tow. When the tow truck arrived, the vehicle suddenly allowed me to shift into Drive again and I was able to drive home. This is very concerning because the vehicle can leave someone stranded without warning. The vehicle has also falsely detected hazards or forward-collision situations several times while driving, even though there was no nearby vehicle, pedestrian, object, or anything else that should have triggered a warning. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has abruptly applied automatic emergency braking and slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason while traveling at 30-50 MPH. I am very concerned this could cause a crash, especially if another vehicle is behind me. The vehicle has also had charging and range display problems on multiple occasions. For example, last week it was charged to about 80% and then driven about 50 miles, but the displayed range/state of charge did not properly decrease or update until the vehicle was turned off and restarted about an hour later. These issues have continued despite prior dealer updates and recall work. The manufacturer has been notified, and the vehicle is being brought back to an authorized dealer for inspection. I do not know yet whether the dealer or manufacturer has been able to reproduce or confirm the problems. The issues appear to involve the electrical/software systems, shift/park function, battery/range display, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking systems.

NHTSA #11734774

Electrical System1 complaint

I am reaching out regarding ongoing safety and reliability concerns involving my 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition, leased in March 2025 from SMG Automotive Holdings, LLC in Brooklyn, New York. I previously pursued arbitration through NCDS; however, the case was dismissed after I accepted a settlement related to issues occurring before March 31, 2026. Unfortunately, the vehicle’s problems have continued beyond that date. Within months of leasing the vehicle, it became completely inoperable late at night and would not start, leaving me stranded. The first tow truck was unable to move the vehicle because it could not be shifted into neutral, requiring a second specialized EV tow truck and causing several hours of delay and missed work. After the vehicle was returned, I began experiencing severe battery-drain concerns. Despite multiple service visits and repair attempts, the issues persisted. I was later informed the vehicle required software updates related to the electric system. Most recently, after charging the vehicle to approximately 85%, warning lights appeared with the message: “STOP SAFELY — VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON.” The vehicle would not shift into drive, the interior lights began flickering, and the vehicle completely shut down again, leaving me stranded overnight until it could be towed to the dealership the following morning. As an educator and assistant principal, reliable transportation is critical to my responsibilities. These repeated failures have caused missed work, financial hardship, ongoing lease and insurance obligations, rental expenses, and serious safety concerns. At this point, I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle due to the repeated electrical and drivability failures. Despite working extensively with both the dealership and manufacturer, the underlying issues continue to persist. For these reasons, I am respectfully requesting assistance in resolving this matter and being permanently removed from this vehicle.

NHTSA #11738469

Power Train,Vehicle Speed Control,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

While maneuvering at low speed into my garage, the vehicle accelerated forward beyond my intended input and in a manner inconsistent with a controlled parking maneuver. This resulted in famage to the front end of the vehicle, a tool bench containing equipment and the wall of the garage (interior and exterior).

NHTSA #11729836

Power Train,Electrical System,Engine1 complaint

EV stalled, would not turn off or on, refusing to go into gear (Park, Drive, Reverse or Neutral) and the emergency brake automatically engaged. Foot pedals were unresponsive and wheels locked. Pedestrian safety chime played continuously even though the vehicle was not in gear. Park and Drive did not light up on the gear indicator and all options glowed red. Various error codes displayed one after the other on the driver's information screen. Vehicle had to be towed on a flatbed. Vehicle remained in that condition for at least four days. Attempts to reset the vehicle using door locking and key removal and also disconnecting the negative terminal on the 12v battery were unsuccessful. The vehicle would not turn off or on and would not go into gear. The vehicle was towed to a dealership where it still cannot turn off.

NHTSA #11729725

Power Train,Engine1 complaint

While driving on highway, message saying “stop safely vehicle will shut down soon” appeared on dashboard. At that time the acceleration would not respond forcing me to drive max speed of 30 mph that decelerated further.

NHTSA #11714681

Engine1 complaint

Driving down the road with my three kids in the car and a turtle light showed up and I could not accelerate. Cars behind me, swerved out of the way to avoid a catastrophic accident my car limped to the shoulder and once I turned the car off and on again, it worked. This car is a death trap and needs to be investigated.

NHTSA #11703523

Other1 complaint

A B.E.V. has an estimated range- and the manufacturer claims up to 300 miles range in great conditions. They never pinpoint what the range is in cold climate. The only data I can find is they admit to it being "less". I am part of a large forum for this platform. I have heard several complaints on range in the cold. They all are experiencing less than 50% of the 300 advertised miles. 120-140 seems to be accurate when operating normally under 20 degrees. The concern here is with the rapid loss of battery, the average distance between possible charging locations, you could easily become stranded with no power and no way to stay warm while waiting for assistance, which could possibly lead to death.

NHTSA #11705593

Suspension,Electrical System,Vehicle Speed Control1 complaint

2024 Jeep Wagoneer EV has recurring electrical/propulsion faults with turtle (reduced power/limp mode) and wrench warning light, causing sudden loss of acceleration and reduced power. This has happened while driving on the highway, making the vehicle feel unsafe and unreliable; I was nearly in an accident when it would not accelerate. Vehicle has been to the dealer at least five times and has been out of service since 12/01/2025 with no permanent fix.

NHTSA #11705592

Power Train,Electrical System,Unknown Or Other1 complaint

At 2,000 miles car experiences an issue when going from drive to reverse the car issued warning that transmission needs to be serviced, wouldn’t go into any gear and wouldn’t turn off. Had to be dragged into flatbed truck and taken to dealer. At 3,000 miles had to stop in road due to medical helicopter and road being closed. When road opened up went to put car into drive. Same errors as before (can’t get in gear, warning lights and won’t turn off) and car had to be dragged onto a flat bed tow truck. Fire department initiated the tow due to safety issues of being in dangerous location. After a week at dealer was told it was ready to pickup. Then told to see a mechanic there who would show me what to do next time this happened. Involved unhooking 12v battery and pulling some fuses. Informed issue wasn’t fixed just a work around was done. I talked to service manager and was informed this is a known issue and factory is working on a repair. The car isn’t safe breaking down twice while driving on public roads and not being able to turn off. Note: in both cases the car wouldn’t turn off for days even while parked at dealer lot.

NHTSA #11701041

Electrical System,Vehicle Speed Control,Engine1 complaint

this vehicle has locked my wife inside the car, it has been unable to be shut off on multiple occasions, the warning lights are constantly on, the vehicle slows down and turns off, and most recently it accelerated on its own when my wife was applying the brakes and almost crashed while trying to remain in control of the vehicle. We leased this vehicle brand new 7 months ago. This make and model is widely known to be unsafe and neither Jeep nor Stellantis are doing anything about it. I cannot even get a call back from either of their customer service departments created due to this models issues.

NHTSA #11698079

Steering,Electrical System,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

With only 611 miles on the odometer, and [10] days old while driving the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S, out of nowhere started to systematically shut down while driving, causing a complete loss of power. Vehicle had to be towed to the dealer from which I purchased here in Phoenix Arizona. It has now been 36 days consecutively in the shop and the dealer is unaware what needs to be done to fix it. STAR has also been involved in no fix to this date.. I have opened up an arbitration hearing. But according to the various forms and pages I am on these vehicles are having tremendous safety risks that Jeep and its owner Stellantis are ignoring. NHTSA #11699565

Wheels1 complaint

After only a few months of owning the car, my tire completely blew out on the freeway. I did not hit anything or run over anything and the service team mentioned there was nothing in the tire to make them believe this was a result of something that punctured the tire.

NHTSA #11685742

Electrical System,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

On Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at approximately 6:51pm while driving my 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S the vehicle lurched forward suddenly while coming to a stop (below 5mph at the time of the lurch). Following that, multiple service lights illuminated on the dash including a large red turtle with a message that "Vehicle power may be diminished". When I went to accelerate from the stop the vehicle was sluggish and slow to respond to throttle input, but then with absolutely no throttle input began accelerating on it's own. This lurching during deceleration followed by unintended acceleration repeated itself several times while attempting to get the vehicle back to the dealership (I was less than a mile from my local Jeep dealer when this occurred). I have video of the vehicle behaving this way, and provided that video to the service department at Lithia Chrysler Jeep of Reno. I have also reached out to Stellantis directly who informed me that in spite of this, and multiple other serious problems with this vehicle they will not assist me with a re-purchase and are going to force me to pursue resolution via Nevada State Lemon Law.

NHTSA #11684836

Steering,Electrical System,Unknown Or Other1 complaint

Purchased the car on 5/16 and it’s been at the dealership since 5/23. Was driving and I received a message telling me to “stop safely, vehicle will shit off soon”. Car immediately slowed drastically and the wheel jerked forcing my car to swerve into the next lane on the interstate. Was barely able to pull the car over safely without getting crushed on the highway. Have opened a case with Jeep Customer care and been in contact with the dealership. Car has been sitting there with no progress on a fix and no one knows what to do. Dealership is waiting for Jeep engineers and have no idea what’s wrong or how to fix it.

NHTSA #11666346

Power Train,Electrical System,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

The service electrical systems light comes on and the vehicle will freeze up. Has happened numerous times without the dealership being able to repair

NHTSA #11665220

Steering,Electrical System,Service Brakes1 complaint

The vehicle is scheduled to return to the dealership again. Multiple safety-critical systems are affected. I believe this is an ongoing electrical system failure in a new vehicle, putting both the driver and passengers at risk.

NHTSA #11668916

Electrical System,Engine1 complaint

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start as intended. The contact stated that while waiting for several hours or several days, the vehicle started as needed. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was replaced. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

NHTSA #11670785

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other1 complaint

What happened? We own a 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S (EV). Since delivery, the software has been unpredictable and dangerous. On day one (18 miles), delivery was delayed for a frunk latch failure requiring a total factory computer reset. The most terrifying event was when the brake and gas pedals "swapped" actions while my husband was driving our three sons. The car sped up when braking and stopped when hitting the gas. The vehicle has also "bricked" (lost all propulsion) twice in traffic with zero warning, nearly causing collisions. Charging fails frequently; it once sat for 12 hours with zero charge gained despite "green" indicators. We deal with constant "ghost" issues: the car jolts unexpectedly, the "Creep" setting glitches (causing it to roll into traffic or roll backward on hills), and the parking brake slams on by itself while reversing. Recently, the backup camera went black while backing out, and sensors beeped at phantom objects. The power trunk even closed on its own, nearly hitting my head. Other failures include McIntosh audio failure, door lock malfunctions, and Uconnect/Wi-Fi errors. Safety Risk: Our family is at constant risk. Between pedals malfunctioning, dying in traffic, and unpredictable movement, this EV is a major hazard to us and other drivers. Dealer/Technical Info: Prestige Jeep has seen the car 8+ times, once for 45 consecutive days. Dealers often "cannot duplicate" because glitches clear on restart, but they return. These symptoms align with STAR Case S2508000058 (unintended torque) and TSB 08-077-25 (IDCM/electrical shutdowns). Components are available for inspection. Warnings: Symptoms began at 18 miles. We frequently see a "Red Wrench," "Red Turtle" (Limited Speed), and "Service Park Brake" messages. Frequent software failures make this vehicle unsafe for the road.
