I need repair my car because i have recall battery hybryd i m scare driving my vehicles With my family I need Loaner car from Dealer
NHTSA #11722418
The head unit sometimes refuses to work, meaning the backup camera does not work. The problems have been there since day 1, but now I have a good video of an incident. This is a massive plug in hybrid vehicle, so losing my backup camera puts pedestrians at risk. This is a mandatory safety feature to protect children behind the vehicle. I tried the screens power button as well as putting the vehicle in park then reverse but it never switched on the backup camera.
NHTSA #11718345
I turned the vehicle on and put it in reverse. The check engine light came on and it would not exceed 2mph. I hoped it was a short error but when switching to drive it also would not exceed 2mph. I immediately parked it and called a tow truck. Upon the tow arrival the vehicle would not longer change gears and showed both a check engine light and a service charging system warning. The emergency release to change the vehicle from park to neutral had to be used. It was pulled onto the tow truck and has been 6 days at the dealer with no remedy. The dealer escalated to Stellantis for additional assistance in possible repair options.
NHTSA #11718927
A vehicle safety recall was issued however, there is no solution readily available. After I was finally able to schedule an appointment to have the recall addressed I was told the HV battery needed to be replaced but there was no timeline to complete the repair. This delay is primarily due to a lack of parts and a larger than expected number of issues with this vehicle type.
NHTSA #11714351
My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been out of service at a dealership since January 22 due to a safety recall involving the high-voltage battery. The manufacturer has no repair available and no estimated timeline. I have no access to my vehicle and have been forced to pay for rental cars out of pocket, with only partial reimbursement. The vehicle has now been out of service for over 50 days. I am requesting assistance with a buyback or full resolution of this.
NHTSA #11727811
The heat does not work in my Jeep on electric or hybrid and it’s a coolant system failure. The parts fail and Jeep hasn’t been able to fix the problem after two attempts in service. It is frigid and the temperatures have plummeted and there is no heat working in the vehicle. The check engine light has come on indicating that there is an issue and the dealer resets it, but heat not fixed. Yes, a warning light has come on indicating heat does not work in electric mode.
NHTSA #11713870
The heater on our 4 x e stopped working and would not defrost front window or heat the car in sub zero weather we have been having lately. I have had this car in 2 times already for the same issue. I fear for my wife's safety while driving this car as it can not defrost the front window due to heat not working. I have an apt on 2/16/2026 for a computer dump and fear another $370 bill for something that appears can not be fixed. I re-booted the computer as it recommended on the internet, but it only worked a small time. I have 3 Grand Cherokees and am very disappointed with this one as the other 2 have over 280,000 miles on them. Regretfully, [XXX] [XXX] . I received Safety Recall 68C for my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe stating that the high-voltage battery may become damaged during normal operation and could lead to a vehicle fire. FCA instructs owners not to recharge the vehicle and states that no remedy is currently available. In addition to the recall, I am experiencing a major safety issue inside the vehicle. The rear driver-side passenger seat (directly above the high-voltage battery) becomes extremely hot during normal driving, hot enough that my family members cannot sit there comfortably. The heat is abnormal and appears to be coming from the battery area. I have small children who ride in this vehicle, and I no longer feel it is safe to transport them. FCA has no fix for the known battery defect, and the combination of internal heat from the seat and the fire-risk warning significantly impairs the safety and usability of the vehicle. FCA advises owners to avoid charging, but this makes the vehicle unusable for its intended purpose as a plug-in hybrid. I am requesting NHTSA involvement because this appears to be a serious battery overheating and potential fire hazard affecting the passenger cabin. Please investigate. I need guidance, as the manufacturer cannot repair the defect, and I am concerned for the safety of my family. If there’s no cure to this problem, please ask FCA to purchase the vehicle back from me. It’s a three year lease and I have about six months left on it.

The vehicle's infotainment system, while being used for navigation, was hijacked while driving by an advertisement. Distracted driving is the primary cause of accidents, and my vehicle made me interact with a pop-up ad while driving. My car required me to divert my attention off the road to attend to ab advertisement on the vehicle screen.
NHTSA #11700850
Complaint Summary: Recall 68C – High Voltage Battery. Vehicle cannot be charged safely and must be parked away from structures due to fire risk. No repair or diagnostic procedure is available. Description: I own a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ). On November 10, 2025, I was notified of Recall 68C involving a risk of high-voltage battery fire. Jeep instructed me to stop charging the vehicle and to park it away from buildings. I have fully complied, which means the EV portion of the vehicle is unusable and the vehicle’s utility is significantly reduced. My dealership stated that no repair or diagnosis is currently available, and Jeep Customer Care confirmed the same. My case (#94692611) was escalated on November 10, but I have received no update or assistance. I requested interim support (rental or goodwill compensation) because the vehicle cannot be operated as designed, but Jeep advised that no assistance can be processed until a dealer performs a diagnosis—which is impossible because Jeep has not provided one. This situation has resulted in: Complete loss of EV driving capability Increased fuel costs Inability to garage the vehicle (safety concern) Diminished trade-in, resale, and private sale value The manufacturer has provided no remedy, no timeline, and no temporary assistance, leaving me without a functional plug-in hybrid vehicle. I am requesting NHTSA review and ensure Stellantis provides a remedy plan or interim assistance for affected owners. I took my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE in last month (July) to have the hybrid battery recall fixed. Since then, i have had the ‘service hybrid electrical vehicle system vehicle system’ with the red wrench pop up at least 3 times but would disappear after 10-15 seconds. Last Thursday (Aug 21), I was on the highway driving 70mph passing a semi when the same message came onto the screen & my vehicle shut completely off. I was able to safely get off the roadway & I turned it & back on & it cleared out. I dropped it off at the dealership this past Monday (Aug 25) & was called today & told the tech can’t get the vehicle to do it so he is unable to pull a code so they’re releasing the vehicle back to me. This is terrifying.

Vehicle started displaying a red wrench icon with the Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System warning on the dash and then brought up the turtle/limp mode and the vehicle would not function. This only started happening after the 95B recall fix was performed on the vehicle. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they have informed me that there will not be a fix to the issue until approx. November of this year. Service Tech scan codes indicate "Digital Crash".

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 60 MPH, the “Service Hybrid Electric System” warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost power. The contact stated that her husband was able to pull over to the right side of the road, turn off and restart the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the result was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,266.

I am reporting two major electrical-related failures in my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that raise serious safety concerns. In February 2025, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete battery failure with no warning. No lights or messages appeared. I was left stranded and had to tow the vehicle. The dealership found that one battery had completely failed and required replacement, while the second battery had to be recharged. No clear cause was identified. This raised concerns about a deeper electrical or charging system issue. On [XXX], the vehicle became completely inoperable again while I was traveling out of state. I was stranded in Iowa and had to tow the vehicle to a certified Jeep dealership. They diagnosed that the wiring harness connectors to the fuel pump were stuck open, causing the connector to overheat and fail. This required full replacement of the wiring harness, which involves dropping the fuel tank. There were no warning lights, messages, or drivability issues prior to the failure. Electrical overheating in a component directly tied to the fuel system poses a serious fire and safety hazard. As of today, the vehicle remains at the dealership, and I have been without transportation since [XXX]. I opened a case with Stellantis, but my case manager has not provided any updates. Stellantis has now told me I must coordinate with the dealership to request goodwill repair assistance, despite the urgency and safety-critical nature of the failure. These are not typical issues for a well-maintained vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate this as a potential electrical defect that may pose a broader safety risk to other owners. We were driving our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and pulled into a parking lot and put the vehicle in Park. At this point the vehicle started flashing the battery light and would not turn off nor were we able to put the vehicle in drive. Essentially the entire vehicle was just sitting and running, but was inoperable and we were unable to shut the vehicle off. We left the vehicle running and walked away with our key fobs, but the vehicle would still not shut off. It's a safety issue to have a vehicle running and not be able to put it inn drive or turn it off. We had to call a flat bed tow truck. The vehicle is currently at the dealer and they are not sure what is wrong with it. The warning lamp that came on was the red battery light and Auto Emergency Braking - Active Braking On was flashing across the screen, but the vehicle wasn't engaged in driving. We have the fob information from when we dropped the vehicle off, but nothing has been confirmed.

High Voltage Battery (hybrid battery) has excessive drain when parked. This was noticed after completing the 68C recall. In any temperature it drains 8-12% over 12 hours. I noticed it happening when it was 65-75 degrees, so not hot and not cold. I brought it in for a repair once, it spent 3 weeks at the dealership and was claimed fixed but it's still doing it. It is known problem on the forums as well after the 68C recall. No warning lights.

Engine shut off while driving on the highway. I was able to pull over onto the emergency lane. Headlights went off (night driving) along with the heated seat and steering wheel, but the radio remained on. After stopping I notice the emergency park break was on. Once I shut the off the emergency brake I was able to resume driving. The dealership was not able to duplicate or find the problem. They hope the update for a current recall problem will fix it.

I am formally requesting immediate review and investigation into multiple unresolved safety defects involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, VIN [XXX] . Jeep has acknowledged a hybrid-battery fire-risk recall affecting this model, yet there has been no available remedy or repair timeline, leaving the vehicle unsafe for regular operation and posing risk to myself, my family, and others around the vehicle. Primary defect — High-voltage hybrid battery fire risk (UNRESOLVED) My vehicle falls under an active hybrid-battery safety recall involving potential internal failure of the high-voltage traction battery capable of causing thermal events or fire while parked or in motion. Despite this being a critical safety hazard, Jeep/Stellantis has: Provided no repair or replacement timeline Offered no interim mitigation beyond advising parking precautions Provided no alternative transportation or safety guarantee This leaves me with a vehicle that cannot be safely used, parked near structures, or charged, effectively removing the primary functional design reason I purchased a 4xe plug-in hybrid. Additional unresolved safety-critical issues In addition to the fire-risk recall, my Grand Cherokee 4xe has experienced: Steering component issues, including instability and safety concerns while driving Suspension-related defects, including risks tied to coil-spring recall applicability Loss of hybrid system functionality, severely limiting drivability and efficiency Multiple disruptions causing loss of use, travel restrictions, confidence in safety & reliability These combined failures demonstrate systemic integrity concerns that extend beyond the battery recall alone. Why NHTSA’s involvement is needed Because Jeep has failed to present a repair path or a timeframe — and because this defect can escalate to vehicle fire, immobilization, or sudden failure while driving — I believe there is sufficient cause for expanded review and enforcement action. This vehicle continues to have electrical issues which effects the drivability. For the current service visit, the vehicle was taken in due to “shut down” or “shudder off” as if the car had completely been downshifted and lost power while in full drive mode causing a driving interruption. This driving interruption causes a concern for safety. As of today, the vehicle has been in the service department for 56 days. Red wrench appears each time with "Service Hybrid System", check engine light. Discussions with service department: "No definitive fix" ..•B273C-00 Meaning: (one of the codes) The code specifically points to an issue with the digital crash input, meaning the vehicle's computer is detecting a "crash" event, even when one hasn't occurred. •4xe Specific: This code is frequently seen on Jeep 4xe models, likely due to the complexity of the hybrid system and its interaction with the ORC.

I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden my gas pedal stopped propelling the car and the engine seemed to be off. I looked at the dash board and saw that the car was indicating it was off and that I needed to step on the brake and hit the ignition button to turn it back on. I barely had control of the car but was able to pull off to the side of the road. I then had to wait several minutes for the car to respond and turn back on. This has happened in the past to me with this car but this is the first time I knew I could report it here. This is a terrible vehicle and I’ve had nothing but safety issues with it since I leased it.

For the second winter (2 out of 2) this vehicle has entered FORM mode - Fuel Oil Refresh - and fails to operate as a hybrid car until- if last year was the indicator - Spring and warmer weather. Ostensibly due to running in electric mode for too long, FORM is an engine and fuel safety measure. Since this vehicle was under recall 68C until earlier this week and had not been operable in electric mode at all since September, this excuse fails demonstrably. It has been in FORM since the recall was completed. Having a Jeep in winter that is not operable in electric mode in snow and ice when the potential exists that gas mode doesn't function and the 24 "reserve" miles are not available in electric mode, poses a significant risk. Secondarily, in last winter and this, hybrid use is unavailable for months.

On approximately November 15th 2025, I took my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xE In for a routine oil change and tire rotation to Fred Martin Super Store in Barberton , Ohio. Upon completion on the service I was told that there was a recall on my vehicle and I was not to park in my garage or plug the vehicle in due to risk of fire coming from the Hybrid Battery. I immediately called the service department at Fred Martin Super Store in Barberton Ohio to see if this recall was accurate. The Service Department Rep did confirm verbally that there was a recall and again NOT TO PARK IN MY GARAGE OR PLUG THE VECHILE IN DUE TO FIRE RISK. I was told the parts were not available to fix the problem at this time. This vehicle is not safe to have on or near my property and is not functioning the way it is intended. I have contacted Jeep multiple times and filed multiple grievances to ask for a vehicle buy out or a lease termination with out penalty and have been denied. This repair has not been done or remedied in a timely manner, and is still unsafe to have or drive.

This vehicle is a danger to drive, and there is no information on when they will fix it. I have taken the battery in to fix it before and it took over 2 weeks to repair, and more problems with more recalls. The engine is said that it can cause fire like the battery. This vehicle is not safe to have and continues to be a severe safety problem for me and my family, Two of the recalls right now they have no idea how to fix. It is not fair that I am paying for this vehicle and I can't even drive it.

Since purchasing the vehicle in January of 2024 , I have had the same repeated safety issues that the dealership and Chrysler were made aware of . I was told that no other vehicles of my make and model had the same issues so I was not listened to . While driving vehicle has slammed on the breaking system for no apparent reason at different speeds. Last time this happened I was on the thruway doing 65 mph. This has happened over 10 times and has been extremely scary and upsetting. The Hybrid system alert has flashed over 30 times and the vehicle has stalled with loss of power. The transmission either jerks or there is a large lag of power -sometimes gas pedal needs to be pinned in order for vehicle to go forward. I have complained to the dealership and Chrysler about the safety issues and how the battery has not work as expected upon purchasing and all the safety issues. I have been mislead by Chrysler on the performance and use of the vehicle. I have asked for a resolution for over a year- lemon law, buy back , but I have to continue to drive an unsafe vehicle. I am submitting this complaint regarding a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has been subject to multiple safety recalls involving the high-voltage battery system and a risk of fire or explosion. The manufacturer, Stellantis, issued safety instructions advising owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park the vehicle in garages or near structures or other vehicles due to the potential fire risk. It says "Sand from the casting process can contaminate internal engine components, leading to a catastrophic engine failure, which can result in a vehicle fire or an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. These instructions significantly restricted the normal use of the vehicle and created serious safety concerns. I have young kids Additionally, the recall notice stated that a remedy for the defect was not available for an extended period of time. Despite the seriousness of the defect and the safety warnings issued, the vehicle remained without a repair solution for months.Jeep has now discontinued the vehicles altogether with no solution for the vehicle. Due to these conditions, the vehicle could not be safely operated or used for its intended purpose. The unresolved safety defect effectively rendered the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and the impact that these unresolved safety defects have had on vehicle owners. I believe the situation raises significant safety concerns regarding vehicles that remain in use while a dangerous defect exists without an available remedy. Please let me know if additional documentation is required. I am willing to provide recall notices, written manufacturer communications, and other supporting documentation. Since I first leased my vehicle in May of 2023, I have received over 7 safety recalls. At least 2 of which are related to the main battery of the hybrid power system. Ever since I got the first one, I was recommended to park my car outside my house for risk of fire while parked. The latest recall, which has not been resolved involved the battery again and after taking the car to the dealer, the battery did not pass the test and the dealer requested I leave the car with them and advised this will take about a month to correct if they can correct it at all.

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) is affected by two separate federal safety recalls involving the high-voltage battery: Recall 95B / NHTSA 24V-720 and the newly issued Recall 68C / NHTSA 25V-741. Both recalls warn of a potential vehicle fire and instruct owners to stop recharging the battery and to park the vehicle away from structures and other vehicles due to fire risk. These warnings appear directly in the recall notices I received. Recall 95B / NHTSA 24V-720 states that the battery pack may contain cells susceptible to separator damage which, combined with internal cell interactions, may lead to a vehicle fire. Owners are advised not to recharge and to park away from structures. Recall 68C / NHTSA 25V-741 states that under normal vehicle operation, the high-voltage battery may become damaged and lead to a vehicle fire, again instructing owners not to recharge and to park away from structures. These are virtually identical safety defects occurring back-to-back in the same high-voltage battery system. The 68C recall states explicitly that no remedy is currently available and there is no ETA, leaving me with a vehicle that cannot safely be parked at my home, charged, or operated as intended. I am now unable to use the hybrid/electric functionality at all, despite paying a premium for a plug-in hybrid vehicle. I am forced to operate the vehicle only in degraded gasoline mode with significantly reduced functionality and safety. The ongoing fire risk, inability to recharge, and requirement to park away from cars and buildings create a daily hardship and significant safety concern for my family. This is a serious safety defect affecting the same critical system twice in less than a year, and with no available remedy the vehicle remains unsafe to charge, unsafe to park near structures, and unable to function as advertised. I am requesting NHTSA review due to repeated fire-risk recalls, lack of a repair, and the substantial ongoing safety risk. Rear right coil spring violently detached and flew across my garage. Fortunately we were not driving it on the Florida Turnpike at the time and none of my family was in the garage when it explosively ejected. We took it to the dealership, Napleton’s Jeep, on February 23, 2026 for its annual service and explicitly directed them to repair or correct any recalls. They said they could not perform the coil spring repair because “Parts Not Available” but assured us it had been inspected and was determined to not be defective or a risk. This is VERY disturbing because it could have killed us if we had been driving at the time and could have seriously injured or killed someone if it had exploded free when people were nearby (ex: in the garage, grocery store parking lot, club parking lot, etc.). There are no warning lamps to even advise that something has occurred - other than finding the enormous spring that put a giant dent in my garage door. I have multiple major work matters, an 8 figure mediation and two court hearings, which require me to drive to Fort Lauderdale this week so I had to spend $50 on an Uber to get a rental car last night and $210 on the rental car.

While driving at approximately 20 - 35 mph, the passenger side rear suspension coil spring fell off. When that happened, the vehicle sank on that side (rear, right side) and the coil spring and spring pad components projected outwards with force towards the road side. No dash lights were activated but, vehicle was exhibiting an unstable (bouncy) driving condition. The vehicle was towed to authorized service center for repairs and a claim was initiated with the manufacturer out of abundance of caution since the event has a resemblance to NHTSA Recall No. 23V-413 (JUN, 2023) and Safety Recall Notice 64A. Said Recall appears on the manufacturer's website as completed for this vehicle.

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to report serious safety concerns regarding my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, VIN [XXX] , which still has 11 months remaining on the lease. During the two years of this lease, the vehicle has had several recalls and repeated mechanical problems every 2–3 months, including a recent transmission replacement. The vehicle is currently affected by Recall 68C. I have maintained the vehicle responsibly and completed oil changes on time. Recently, while driving on the freeway, the dashboard began flashing red warnings and the vehicle lost power, forcing me to slow down in traffic. With help from Highway Service Patrol, I managed to move the car off the freeway. The vehicle would not restart properly and required several attempts before it began working again. I scheduled an appointment with the dealership for the recall repair and oil change. However, after one of the case managers informed me that my vehicle appeared eligible for the Buy Back program, my recall repair appointment was canceled. Later, my case was reviewed by Mrs. Khushbu (Customer Retention Specialist), who informed me that the vehicle was not eligible for buyback and closed my case (#[XXX]) without clearly explaining the reason. As a single working mother, I depend on reliable transportation. I now experience anxiety every time I drive this vehicle due to safety concerns. Two days ago, the same issue occurred again on the freeway — the dashboard flashed red, the gas pedal became unresponsive, and the vehicle stopped, taking 20–30 minutes to restart. Because of these repeated failures and safety risks, I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. I respectfully request that Stellantis/Jeep review this matter and provide a fair resolution. I am not interested in replacing this vehicle with another Jeep, as I have lost confidence in this model. Given the circumstances, this situation may fall Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your response. Sincerely INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact called the emergency number, and the police and fire department were dispatched. The fire destroyed the residence and burned a vehicle that was parked in the backyard. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The contact's husband inhaled smoke and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The contact's cat perished in the fire. A police report and a fire department report were filed. The fire Marshal was called to the residence. The vehicles were consumed by the fire and destroyed. The contact's vehicle was left at the residence since it was not insured. The contact notified the insurance company, and the vehicle parked in the backyard was towed by the insurance company to an unknown location. Per the fire marshal, the origin of the fire was the engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact notified the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

Vehicle loses power and warning lights come on “maintenance on the hybrid system”. A little red wrench appears down the lower left corner. It all goes away after about a minute and a half vehicle only loses power for a brief moment.

Unknown what actually occurs but the entire car shuts off while driving. It has happened to me twice in traffic. Once no warnings, the second time the tire pressure sensor fault flashed went away and then the entire car just shut down while I was driving. I had my child with me and was a scary moment could’ve cause a serious accident or potential death. Car was stuck in the road for over 30min before I could get it to restart and move to a safer location.

My Jeep hybrid is under an active safety recall with no available remedy. The manufacturer has instructed owners not to charge the hybrid battery system, which means the vehicle cannot be used as designed. I am continuing to make loan payments on a vehicle whose primary advertised functionality has been disabled due to a safety defect. I have contacted Jeep/Stellantis repeatedly through their recall assistance lines and have been transferred, disconnected, or told to call numbers that do not resolve the issue. No timeline or interim remedy has been provided. The vehicle is materially impaired, and the lack of a fix poses safety concerns and financial harm to owners. I am requesting NHTSA intervention due to the absence of any manufacturer solution or support.

I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the safety of my Jeep. My vehicle has been to the Jeep dealership approximately five times for the recurring Service Hybrid System Error. Most recently, in August 2025, I received this error again along with a check engine light. Each time this error occurs, I notice that my Jeep drives differently, which raises concerns about its reliability and safety. At present, my Jeep has been at the dealership for approximately 25 days. The dealership has indicated that the issue is related to the 73C code. Despite repeated visits, the problem has not been permanently resolved. I am very concerned about my own safety, as well as the safety of others on the road, particularly because I have been informed that my Jeep is part of the 1% recall group. The ongoing malfunction makes me uneasy about driving the vehicle, and I strongly believe this presents a potential hazard. I respectfully request urgent attention to this matter and a clear resolution to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.

My 2023 Jeep GC Overland 4XE was at the Jeep service center for the same issue in a week. I get a Service throttle control warning, CEL, then every warning light on the dashboard lit up. It happened on my driveway the other day and I would not drive. I had Jeep roadside tow it to a Jeep service center. On 7/9/2025 I picked up the Jeep. Service tec said no open recalls, no software updates and the throttle body module was reprogrammed. A 14-mile test drive was done and the codes did not return. Shortly after pickup, while driving at 65 MPH on the thruway, I got the same error message, Service throttle control along with a check engine light and all warning lights again lit up. The Jeep displayed a reduced power warning, and many other warning but I didn’t have time to look at the dashboard. The vehicle slowed to a crawl in limp mode at 23 MPH, the steering became very heavy and slow to respond. I was able to quickly move over to the shoulder, and I was almost rear ended by a tracker trailer. I got off the thruway, shut the engine off, then back on and was able to get full power back. I immediately drove it to the dealership service center. This is NOT safe vehicle to be in and there are many other reports of this happening.

Monday, November 3rd, 2025 In electric mode - I drove the vehicle forward out of a parking spot. The vehicle made three very large lurches over a 200 foot length of parking lot, enough to bang drivers and passengers heads hard against the head rests each with a loud clunk. Within seconds after the third lurch, the car went into gas/oil refresh mode (which transitions the vehicle from electric mode to gas mode). At that point the accelerator became unresponsive with RPMs hovering just over 1000. After multiple successive press, hold and releases of the accelerator, I took my foot off thinking I had lost all power and was preparing to shut the vehicle off. Before I could, the car began accelerating quickly forward without my foot on the accelerator. This lasted for 1 - 2 seconds before the car stopped accelerating and I was able to use the brakes to stop it. Had this not been late evening (9:45p EST) - the parking lot would have been full of pedestrians and other vehicles which would have caused a collision with other vehicles, or worse caused me to strike a pedestrian. I had no control over the vehicle. I put the vehicle in park and shut it down. After a minute, I restarted the vehicle and brought it home. The check engine light has been lit since. At this time (Monday, November 10th), the vehicle is still at the dealership (brought in Wednesday, November 5th) being investigated for this as well as the transmission (?) issue that was causing the lurching described.

Hybrid/battery system is locked out and fails to operate in freezing weather (FORM status malfunction) Both winters I have owned this vehicle it will not operate on battery from mid-September until March or April. None of the ridiculous "fixes" do anything including oil changes, fuel additions or driving for 2 hours (!) to burn off oil in the fuel, all tried multiple times. I have dash photos and log of this malfunction. The dealership has been useless and unable to offer any fix or suggestions. JEEP Cares doesn't care.

After 95B recall in Late March vehicle had service hybrid electric vehicle system with red wrench. Scheduled appt and it stopped so I canceled. It showed up multiple times again so I scheduled another which was scheduled for Sept 22nd which was the soonest appt available. Statement from my husband : On September 5, 2025 I made three cross town trips while returning home on the conclusion of the third trip I merged onto interstate 94 from Sheyenne Street in West Fargo ND while merging onto the interstate from the on-ramp I was traveling at approximately 60 mph and as soon as I was on the interstate the service warning came on and there was no acceleration as a semi was approaching from behind, the service message was on for a second and went away and the notification was to step on the brake and push the start button. I was able to merge onto the shoulder, avoiding being struck by the semi, and was able to restart the vehicle once it came to a complete stop. On Saturday September 6, 2025 I contacted the dealership and explained how my husband almost got into a severe accident and the vehicle lost all propulsion and said they needed to get it in right away and they had no sense of urgency and said the soonest available was September 11, 2025. It has since been inspected and currently at the dealership Jeep has seized custody of the Jeep •I’m now paying for something you don’t have access to. •The rental they have been given is a downgrade, which is not a “comparable replacement” standard most manufacturers commit to during a stop-drive. Furthermore Jeep endangered my husband, grounded your vehicle, and is now offering you less mobility than you contracted for. That’s a breach of trust, contract, and safety obligations all in one. They continue to send me to voicemails that are full. I went in today and asked for them to provide resolution as the lease is up in 8 months and they were again supposed to update me and have not.

The “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System” has been coming on intermittently for several months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced a wiring harness. That did not fix the issue. The light continues to come on and Jeep technicians have no idea how to fix the issue. Today the light came on and the vehicle stalled and lost propulsion for about 3 seconds and then lurched hard forward as the power returned to the engine. This issue is widespread across social media yet Jeep has done nothing to remedy it. This is a major safety issue, especially with the unexpected lurching forward of the vehicle.
NHTSA #11670406
As I was driving the warning system alerting me to BRAKE! came on and jerked the vehicle to a stop even though no one was in front of me and there were no cars next to me either. Extremely dangerous to have the vehicle stop out of the blue while driving 20 mph. The component has not been inspected yet and the warning lights came on the dashboard.

Forward collision warning. While attempting to make a left hand turn with a green arrow onto a busy highway, the car suddenly slammed to a stop almost causing a collision. The problem has not been reproduced as it hasn’t been driven again. It is not yet at the dealership. The vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights prior to the problem.

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system engaging while turning left when there was no car or pedestrian in front of us. This scared us as the car stopped in the middle of a large intersection putting us all in danger of potentially getting hit. The BRAKE message appeared followed by three loud beeps before the car applied full pressure on the breaks and brought the car to a full stop.

This is the 3rd internal mechanical failure of the front electronic disconnecting sway bar assembly on my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. The component keeps failing prematurely (most recently after only 3,000 miles), causing severe front-end looseness and clunking. This is a critical part of the suspension and it has failed 3x in 14k miles.

I bought the 4xe trailhawk in 12/2023 at 2,000 miles it started making a clicking noise when i hit a bump & sometimes when i steer the truck to the right, moving forward the said it was the detachable sway bar it fixed the problem temporary for about 2 weeks i didn’t have any sound, moving forward I’ve replaced 3 sway bars, front control arms, brackets, rear suspension, front airbag suspension etc. just got my truck back from the david jeep in glen mills still same sounds, the dealership is great. I have reported to jeep this been going on close to 3yrs now

Driving down interstate going 78mph in hybrid mode and the car shuts off and I was able to get over to the side of the road since traffic wasn't bad at the time. Restarted the car and went on my way with no other issues until last week. Driving down the interstate again in hybrid mode and the "service hybrid " light starts flashing and so I changed to all gas for the remainder of the trip. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they had no answers other then they updated the software. We shall see but how it works but I have my doubts that it wont cut off again or have issues. Only has 14K miles on it when this stuff happened.

Vehicle previously brought to dealership for recall and reported issue where vehicle abruptly stops/brakes without cause. Dealer did not resolve. On 3/16/26 vehicle came to a complete stop in roadway, shifted into park, and could not be moved into drive, neutral, or reverse. Driver was stranded in a dangerous situation with infant in vehicle. Dealer unable to inspect for weeks and refused loaner. This presents a serious safety hazard.

Was driving in a neighborhood and slowly turning at a 4 way stop, parking brake self engaged causing the car to slam to a stop and was unable to press gas. Vehicle was charged to full overnight. Vehicle was warming up in the garage on the charger in EV mode for approx 20 minutes. Vehicle cabin was warm when unplugged and put in reverse. Vehicle struggled to get through minor snow until traction control was turned off even with being set to "snow" mode (excessive slip). Outside temperature was -1 at the time (well above cold weather operating temperature) when EV powertrain immediately ceased. The vehicle then went into a limp mode. After 20 minutes or so the gas engine functioned normally and the vehicle was on the road without any EV power (regenerative braking was restoring additional battery). Stopped at dealership on my way to work to have a DTC code analyzed from when this event occurred and it was TCM-P1D97-00 Incorrect Gear Ration: Clutch A or D Defective. The vehicle has exhibited transmission hiccups and been reported, so this appears to be a symptom of a consistent problem. At some point I recall the vehicle engaging the parking brake automatically, and the shifter demanded I put the vehicle into P to select my gear. It took a brief moment to understand what the car was doing, but I still have no idea WHY it did it. I followed the standard procedures of press brake while in park, push parking break lever/button until it disengages, but it put itself back into park a couple times before finally driving. I turned the vehicle off and on a couple times during this event as that is what Stellantis has said to do when the vehicle isn't fully operable. It was just a weird scenario of me doing the same steps to engage drive while the vehicle went back to parking brake mode until it finally stopped fighting me. The ensuing drive to work seemed normal. I did not hear or feel anything abnormal other than the complete lack of EV power. Thankfully the event occurred in my subdivision where no other cars were impacted by my vehicle's lack of mobility or determination to stop in its tracks.

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a persistent, intermittent grinding or rumbling noise during moderate acceleration, most often under load such as going uphill. The noise has been documented over seven service visits and confirmed in writing by two separate Jeep dealerships, yet Jeep claims they cannot replicate it consistently. In 2024, my husband experienced violent jerking during upshifts at highway speeds, forcing him to restart the vehicle to restore normal operation. While that specific event has not repeated, the grinding/drivetrain issue continues, with no warning lights or diagnostic codes. The defect has persisted for more than a year, despite extensive service attempts, and raises serious safety concerns — particularly if the drivetrain locks up or loses power while driving. Jeep has not resolved the issue and is attempting to close my case without a fix. Case No. 93653073 is on file with Jeep/Stellantis Customer Care. Our Jeep has a nation wide battery recall (2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe) and we brought it in to be fixed. They said that it will take 6 weeks - months (they dont know) when the updated battery will be ready. They are saying we need to rent our own car as we wait, and we shouldn't take it home to drive because it's too unsafe and a liability. We have spent hours on the phone with Chrysler, Jeep, etc. to address this and they keep just bouncing us around or hanging up on us. In addition, we received a notice from Chrysler a few weeks ago that asked to ensure we had updated our deductibles and coverage specific to fire. It is clear that they are trying to cover their end of the liability of this massive safety recall that needs to be addressed. The dangers of driving our children in this car, along with the lack of trying to help resolve this issue is unacceptable and an example of corporate malfeasance.

Vehicle recall but manufacturer does not have a remedy and this is my only vehicle. My hybrid light came on and flashed off. Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 91,787 units of its 2022 to 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) due to a software error within the hybrid control processor that may result in a loss of drive power. An unexpected loss of propulsion could cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

Since shortly after taking delivery of my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, I have repeatedly experienced intermittent safety-related malfunctions involving sudden steering stiffness and braking intervention. From early in ownership, the vehicle would unexpectedly engage what I later learned is the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. During these events, the steering would feel locked or restricted and the brakes would apply without driver input. In order to restore normal operation, I was required to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it. These concerns were reported multiple times to the dealership over the course of ownership. On January 13, 2026, while traveling at approximately 60 mph on the highway in normal traffic conditions, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion without warning. At that time, the instrument cluster displayed a “HYBRID / ELECTRIC MODE UNAVAILABLE” message along with a wrench indicator light. The vehicle immediately began losing power and was unable to maintain highway speed. As the vehicle slowed unexpectedly in active traffic, two tractor-trailers were approaching from behind. The sudden loss of propulsion created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision. The driver was forced to maneuver across lanes while the vehicle was losing power in order to reach the shoulder safely. The loss of propulsion and warning messages occurred simultaneously. The vehicle was towed to the authorized dealership, where it remains. The dealership has indicated they have been unable to duplicate the failure. These recurring electrical, braking, steering, and hybrid propulsion malfunctions present serious safety concerns, particularly when occurring at highway speeds or in traffic. Due to severe weather conditions, the vehicle was not towed until January 29, 2026. The vehicle was removed from service following the incident and subsequently transported to the authorized dealership, where it remains.

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xE due to repeated and ongoing electrical system failures that present a serious safety hazard. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle began displaying the warning “Service Hybrid Electrical System.” Shortly after the warning appears, the vehicle will often shut down completely while in operation. I have taken the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership on multiple occasions. Each time, I was informed that Jeep is aware of the defect but that no repair is available, as a required software update has not yet been released. In June 2025, I escalated the issue directly to Jeep. During this time, I experienced an incident in which the vehicle lost all power and shut down on a highway, creating a significant risk of collision. Jeep representatives acknowledged the defect as a known safety concern but advised that there was no available fix. Because I cannot afford to park the vehicle indefinitely, I have been forced to continue driving it despite the dangers. Jeep has only provided one month’s car payment as a “goodwill” gesture, which in no way addresses the underlying safety hazard. In September 2025, after seeing a news report about a recall affecting this model, I contacted Jeep again. Initially, Jeep denied that a recall had been issued. Only after I provided them with the recall notice did they confirm that a recall was in effect. To date, no remedy or repair timeline has been provided. This issue has persisted for several months. Jeep has admitted that the defect is a safety concern, yet they have failed to provide a safe and operable vehicle. I, my children, and other motorists have been placed at extreme risk due to Jeep’s inaction. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Jeep’s handling of this defect, their delay in providing a remedy, and their failure to ensure that affected vehicles are safe to operate.

Multiple times the vehicle will drive very jumpy even if not pressing on the gas or brakes. When accelerating or braking the car will randomly drastically respond to the pedals or barely respond almost making it impossible to stop at times. The inconsistency of breaking and gas power has caused me almost be hit or hit someone else repeatedly.
NHTSA #11718574
While merging onto RT684 I went to accelerate and the car was non-responsive to me pushing on the gas. The car continued to not respond to the accellerator and then the "Service 4wD" light came on the dashboard. This was a safety issue because I had no notice that there was an issue until after the issue took place, a car was very close behind me and almost hit me from behind while I had my 2yr old son and newborn in the back seat. This vehicle has had a number of safety related issues: did not respond to the break on 12/24/24, has been in the jeep dealership service center for over 115 days since my lease began May 2023. The most recent incident was on 12/20/2025 where it did not accellerate while merging onto the highway. The was in the shop from 12/20/25 - 12/30/25 upon return the car had very stiff steering and the car felt jumpy on 1/6/26 the "service 4wD" light went on again and has been in the shop from 1/6/26- until present.

I was driving down the interstate with my two babies in the car seats and all of a sudden all of the dash lights came on, and the power steering locked up. I was driving 70 miles per hour and had to pry my wheel as hard as i could to be able to pull over on the side of the interstate. Once I pulled over i turned the car off hoping it would reset whatever happened and the car was completely dead. It would not crank at all. I ended up having to call someone to come get me and my kids off the side of the interstate and tow the car to the dealership. this car has less than 70,000 miles on it and still is not fixed. It has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks with what they are telling me is electrical issues. I do not feel comfortable driving this car anymore as it is a safety hazard and could have gotten me and my children killed.

Vehicle Purchased 05/27/2025 6/6/2025 - 9 days after purchasing the vehicle i was left stranded in the parking lot due to the battery issues. The vehicle showed a warning stating to "Service Charging System" and the entire system locked out and the vehicle was towed to to the dealer for evaluation and was there for over a week. When I received the car back they stated it was just the battery and not the charging system/hybrid system. 12/03/25 - While driving on the freeway, warning lights started coming up and the seat belt bell started going off even though everyone was buckled. Then my power steering was disabled, the ABS system was disabled and the breaks stiffened, lane assist was disabled, the airbags were disabled, and the SOS calling, and the engine shut off. When trying to change lanes we had to use extreme force to turn the wheel and the emergency lights wouldn't engage when the button was pressed. Due to the brakes being stiff beyond reason it took us passing 3 freeway exits to slow down enough to force the car off of the road. I had my children in the car and was terrified i was going to be in a crash or worse, lose control and veer off of the road. When i was able to pull off of the freeway, I was not able to drive as the car was continuing to shut off every few feet. I had to have my vehicle towed home and they next day when driving it to the dealer it was still without power steering, the ABS system, Airbags, the brake pedal was extremely stiff and the seatbelt bells were going off even though I had my seatbelt on from first getting into the car. Myself, my fiancé and our children's live were put at risk due to this vehicle failure. I picked my car up from the dealer today 12/5/2025 and they advised this was an issue with a connector that was replaced but the entire system had to be reset. I would also like to include that the vehicle now has an open recall that has no remedy and the dealer/Mfr. have yet to provide any updates.

The vehicle has an active safety recall related to a potential high-voltage battery fire. The recall warns that the battery pack may contain damaged cells that could lead to a vehicle fire under certain conditions. The manufacturer instructs owners not to recharge the battery and to park the vehicle away from buildings or other vehicles due to the fire risk. The defect puts my family and others at risk because the vehicle cannot be safely charged, cannot be parked near structures, and may pose a spontaneous fire hazard. This significantly limits the ability to drive or store the vehicle normally. The issue was present before I purchased the vehicle, and the recall was active at that time. The problem has been confirmed by the manufacturer’s recall documentation. I have contacted dealerships and the manufacturer, but no remedy appointment or software update has been provided, and a replacement high-voltage battery has not been scheduled. Warning messages and restrictions were communicated through the official recall notice. There have been no repairs performed, and the safety risk remains unresolved.

on 10/24/2025 my wife and daughter were in the vehicle driving to her school. My wife was on the phone with me when she stated the car was reving really high and sounded like it was going to blow up how loud it was. she was driving at about 25-30 mph when the car suddenly jerked and shut off completely, the battery light turned on and the check engine light flashed before it shut off. she was able to brake and roll to the side of the road. I had instructed her to keep her foot on the break since it was not letting her shift to park. We stayed on the phone as i contacted jeep directly and get a hold of a rep she said she was able to put it in park and she tried to turn the car on and she was able to turn it on after 10 min. She drove with the hazards on to my daughters school and dropped her off i told her park the car and don't use it until i get home. I got home on 10/26/2025 and the light was off i made an appointment with jeep for that week 10/31 and they stated they were unable to find anything in the computer for the issue that had occurred instead they saw a issue with my heating and it was pump. i have a case open with jeep and they have yet to return my call after a week of non stop calling, i emailed stelantis but they stated they cant assist has to be jeep directly. i would love some help with this as the car has been to the dealership three time for multiple issues and recalls that they stated they did and still show are not done. i have a schduled appointment for the 68c but there is no remedy yet.

Backing into a parking space in reverse the vehicle all of a sudden begins to accelerate forward with the gear selector showing "R" illuminated almost causing me to hit 2 cars parked in front of me. After putting the vehicle in park and reverse again i was able to park and then the vehicle gave a "service hybrid system" warning and then stalled out. I had no issues prior to this and it seems the 95B recall had something to do with it as I had this performed a week prior. It has a stored code for " digital input crash " according to the dealer but they said it is deemed safe to drive. I don't think so.

The vehicle is a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV. While driving in heavy traffic on a 45 mph road, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion, with the dash lighting up with a large "Service Hybrid System" warning. After several seconds of no response, with traffic trying to work its way around my stalled SUV, the vehicle began to move again, albeit very slowly, just enough to limp it to a side street. After another 30 seconds or so, the problem cleared itself and the vehicle returned to a normal state of propulsion. I took the car to the dealer where I left it for more than a week. Apparently this is a known issue, and a code appeared (B273C-00, Digital Crash Input), but they were not able to replicate the issue while they had the vehicle and so they just reset the code. The automaker is also aware of this problem, but doesn't deem it severe enough to issue a warning to customers or provide alternative transportation while a fix is developed. The dealer's advice is to let them know when it happens again. At this point, I don't feel the vehicle is safe to drive, and it will remain parked until a fix is available.

I am requesting that NHTSA investigate a potential safety defect affecting 2022-present Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles involving failure of the front bumper retention clamps. Owners of these vehicles are reporting that the front bumper mounting clamps begin to crack, break, or fail at approximately 30,000 miles — often occurring just after the basic warranty period expires. These components appear to be inadequate for their intended purpose and are critical to maintaining proper bumper attachment. This issue is widely discussed among Jeep owners, yet the manufacturer has not issued a recall, service campaign, or permanent repair solution. Instead, owners are being forced to pay hundreds of dollars to replace or repair a failure caused by what appears to be a low-cost component that does not meet the durability requirements expected of a safety-related exterior vehicle part. A detached or partially detached front bumper creates a potential road hazard. A bumper that separates while driving could fall onto the roadway, creating a danger for other motorists and increasing the risk of additional crashes. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate: The frequency and mileage range of front bumper clamp failures on 2022-present Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Whether the bumper retention components meet durability and safety standards. Whether Jeep/Stellantis was aware of this issue and failed to provide an adequate remedy. Whether a recall or safety campaign is necessary to prevent bumpers from becoming roadway hazards. Please review this matter before additional failures result in property damage, crashes, or injuries. Thank you for your attention to this potential safety defect.

Vehicle has been at dealership service department since May 14, 2026, immediately after incident. Vehicle was able to be driven to dealership after incident. Incident reported to Stellantis May 28, 2026. Stated that the report would be escalated and I would be contacted via email in 1-2 business days. No direct manufacturer inspection at this time, and police/insurance company were not contacted as there was no accident to report. Safety recall 73C in regard to this matter was completed September 26, 2025 according to Stellantis customer service and recall information available for the VIN of this vehicle. No warning lights/messages/symptoms of the problem prior to incident. During incident and after loss of propulsion started, "D" started flashing on the dash console and the gear shift knob, and I was unable to shift out of drive. After approximately 5 minutes, the vehicle put itself in park and engaged the emergency brake. Video of part of the incident available upon request

I am reporting a systemic safety failure involving a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee sold as a "Certified Pre-Owned" (CPO) vehicle. Despite the mandatory 125-point CPO safety inspection, the vehicle was delivered with multiple safety-critical defects that should have prevented certification. Primary Safety Risks: Suspension/Stability: The vehicle exhibits vibration and instability at all speeds, resulting in a loss of steering stability and difficulty maintaining lane position at highway speed. Tire Integrity: The vehicle was sold with dry-rotted tires, indicating structural degradation that poses a high risk of catastrophic failure/blowout. Electrical/Powertrain: The Auto Start/Stop system is faulty. Additionally, the paddle shifters are non-functional, which interferes with manual gear selection and driver control over the powertrain. The selling dealership has refused to acknowledge these defects or bring the vehicle into compliance with manufacturer safety standards. Furthermore, Stellantis Corporate has failed to provide a safety compliance review. These mechanical and electrical defects existed at the time of sale and represent a failure of the CPO safety process.

On February 28, 2026, while preparing to leave our home with our two children in the vehicle, we experienced a critical vehicle malfunction. Upon attempting to start the car, all dashboard warning lights illuminated, including transmission error, “service needed,” and “automatic emergency braking system needs service.” The battery warning light was also on. The vehicle would not start initially. After eventually starting the car, we temporarily placed it in neutral and pushed it out of the garage, during which the brakes functioned normally. The vehicle was briefly driven and appeared operational, but due to ongoing safety concerns and multiple recalls, we parked it at the top of our driveway. On the following day, the vehicle would not start again. We arranged for it to be towed to the dealership. On March 2, 2026, when the tow truck arrived, the car’s position prevented loading onto the truck. Multiple jump-start attempts failed initially, then briefly started the vehicle, but it immediately shut off again. We placed the vehicle in neutral using the manual override and tested the brakes, which initially showed stiffness but were operational. While attempting to move the vehicle to allow tow truck access, the brakes suddenly failed. Despite pressing the brake pedal fully and brake lights being illuminated, the vehicle did not stop and rolled uncontrollably into our garage. Consequences: •Garage property damage: approximately $11,000 •Personal injury: my father-in-law fell while the vehicle rolled out of control •Vehicle remains at dealership with an open case, but the situation remains unresolved Safety Concern: This incident raises serious safety concerns regarding the reliability of the braking system and vehicle electronics. The vehicle became uncontrollable while brakes were applied, posing a direct risk of injury or death to occupants and others. We fear that similar failures could occur under normal driving conditions, including highway speeds.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V741000 (Electrical System) and 25V576000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off in the driveway, she heard popping noises and saw smoke coming from underneath the vehicle near the rear passenger seat. The contact called the fire department, which responded and extinguished the fire. The firefighters cut the battery lines, removed the battery, and pushed the vehicle away from the contact's home. A hazmat team arrived and sprayed water on the battery for three hours. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the manufacturer's investigation unit inspected the vehicle and determined that the failure was related to the battery. The contact was informed that the battery failure was covered under warranty, which was extended. The insurance company was notified of the failure, but informed the contact that the battery was not covered by the policy. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of drive power four to six months before the failure, which she related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and two cases were filed. The manufacturer issued a letter instructing the dealer to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

There were no warning or check engine lights prior to the incidents below. Car was just serviced Nov 3rd 2025 for safety recall 25v-472 and 25v-576. 1st incident Dec 21, 2025: Driving 70mph on major busy interstate in MA and all of a sudden vehicle lost ALL power. It shut off completely. No lights, No warning. Had to coast over to R shoulder and wait several min before power restored. This was Very scary as traffic was heavy. 2nd incident occurred Jan 19, 2026 and was terrifying: I was driving on a curvy mountain 2 lane road at night. This road does not have much lighting. There are no shoulders or pull over lanes due to guardrails. Out of nowhere with no warning. Vehicle lost ALL power (including steering and ALL lights). Could not get out of road as everything shut off and steering locked. I had NO Lights (both internal and external) I Finally got flashers to work after a minute or so but had to sit there dead in the middle of the road on a curve praying no cars came around curve. Was able to restart after about a minute and a half! Called dealership today and they said there is no recall for “loss of power” and we will be taking it in for a $200 diagnostics test.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly lowered and started pulling to the right. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, and the contact exited to inspect the vehicle but found no failure. The vehicle was taken to the residence, and then to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the axle and passenger’s side rear tension link were bent and lodged into the knuckle, the passenger steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the passenger’s side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately 8 weeks later on the driver's side. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle, and the vehicle started pulling to the left. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected, but the contact found no visible failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the driver's side rear axle and driver's side rear tension link were bent and had lodged into the knuckle, the driver's side steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the driver's side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

On December 17, 2025, I brought my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (30th Anniversary Edition) to Los Angeles Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for safety recall 68C involving the high-voltage (HV) battery. The dealer performed the required recall software update/flash and diagnostic and confirmed the vehicle failed 68C, meaning the HV traction battery pack requires replacement. The vehicle remains at the dealer and is available for inspection. I cannot take the vehicle home even if I tried: per the recall process it must remain at the dealer once it fails, and the software flash/diagnostic effectively “bricked” the vehicle, rendering it undriveable until the HV battery is replaced. This defect involves the HV battery, a critical energy-storage component with serious safety implications. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer; no police/insurance inspection. The dealer initially stated the battery would arrive around January 12, 2026, but it did not. At ~4 weeks out of service I called the dealer for an update—no ETA, status, or tracking. The dealer has never proactively contacted me. At ~8 weeks I called Jeep Cares—no ETA, tracking, or meaningful update; they only contacted the dealer. I am still making payments on a vehicle immobilized at the dealer for ~9 weeks due to the recall remedy delay. I also did not receive the $100 recall compensation gift cards and Jeep Cares has not resolved that. I am filing this complaint because the recall remedy is not being provided within a reasonable time, leaving me without transportation and without any timeline for a critical safety-recall repair.

While my wife was driving our 2023 plug-in hybrid SUV, the vehicle suddenly lost all power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely hard to turn and she could not safely control the vehicle. I had to verbally guide her to pull over into a very unsafe area because the vehicle became nearly impossible to steer. The failure happened instantly with no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle was completely undriveable. I had to call a tow truck and pay out of pocket to have it towed directly to an authorized dealer. We were forced to take an Uber home. The dealer confirmed that this model currently has multiple active safety recalls, including recalls involving high-voltage battery fire risk and potential loss of propulsion, and that they could not inspect the vehicle immediately due to limited staffing. This incident posed a significant crash and injury risk because the driver was unable to steer the vehicle with normal force. The sudden loss of steering assist created a dangerous situation on a public road and required emergency towing. The vehicle is now at the dealership awaiting inspection, and the failure can be inspected upon request.

Event 1 – Abnormal Tire Wear / Stability Concern Date: January 6, 2026 Within approximately 3,000 miles of operation, the vehicle developed severe and abnormal tire tread wear rendering the tires unsafe for continued highway use. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership. Intermittent vehicle electrical issues also noted. Independent tire inspections indicated the tread pattern was irregular and consistent with possible suspension or front-end control arm failure . Photographic documentation is preserved. Prior written notice of suspension related safety concerns had been delivered to the manufacturer on October 2025. This was later confirmed by an internal report that list the previous buyback history and the current conditions that align perfectly. The report is available for view. Safety ConcernPrimary concerns include: Unexpected propulsion loss at highway speed. Total electrical system breakdown causing a red turtle event during motion. Reduced braking and steering control during stall. Non restart condition in traffic. Video captures moment Severe abnormal tire wear potentially indicating suspension instability.

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid. The vehicle has experienced repeated stalling and loss of propulsion while driving, including in active traffic and in a school pickup line. The vehicle has unexpectedly failed to accelerate or start, creating dangerous situations for myself, my passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle has stalled in traffic and at low speeds without warning. On multiple occasions, it lost propulsion while driving, requiring me to stop unexpectedly. One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Despite reporting these issues and seeking service, the safety defects remain unresolved. The combination of stalling, loss of propulsion, and fire risk makes the vehicle unsafe to operate and unsafe to park. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter as a safety defect involving loss of power, stalling, and fire risk.

Two instances: 1) While reversing out of a parking spot, several warning lights flashed at once, including Power Steering System disabled, Service Hybrid Engine System, and two others - lost power steering. I parked and restarted the car and it drove normally. 2) While in park, the car started but would not shift gears and it would not turn off. It was stuck in this position for 10 minutes until the ignition button finally responded and shut off.

As I was driving in a parking lot, the service hybrid error popped up and then suddenly the vehicle was showing to press brake & hit start button. The vehicle began slowing down and even while pressing the gas the vehicle wouldn’t do anything. I was able to coast into an empty part of the parking lot. The vehicle then wouldn’t go into park. The emergency brake engaged without me doing anything. Then it kept telling me to press brake & hit start button but it wouldn’t do anything. The veg hole seemed to be on. But acted as if it was off. I sat disabled in the parking lot for 5-10 minutes before it would turn back on and let me resume normal activities.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? While driving, the passenger seat side airbag deployed unexpectedly. I was moving slowly, just starting to cross an intersection after a traffic light turned green, when the airbag in the passenger seat “exploded” without warning. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden loud noise startled me. This caused me to panic while in an active intersection. When I saw the seat airbag deploy, I became extremely concerned that my own seat could also explode, potentially causing injury to my back. The fear and distraction while driving put both my safety and that of surrounding drivers at risk. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no warning lamps, messages, sounds, or any other symptoms before the airbag deployed. The failure occurred suddenly without any prior indication.

My Jeep has been a consistent problem. The vehicle gives many warning and "service powertrain" warnings in the dashboard. Additionally, at the same time as the warnings, the vehicle will lurch - slowing down significantly and making passengers in the vehicle panic. I have gone to the dealer to already fix not 1 but 5, yes FIVE, recalls related to the powertrain system. This last visit (today) I was told that Stellantis acknowledges the issue, but does not have a fix. This vehicle was clearly not ready for production and Stellantis needs to be held accountable to it's customers.

While driving, the vehicle sends a message that the automatic cruise control has shut down, the car starts slowing down and doesn't respond to pressing on the gas. Only recourse is to move off to the side of the road, shut everything down and turn it back on. The batteries show two miles left on the electric system. This is the second occurrence. Both have occurred at highway speed.

Unsafe, Defective Vehicle & Refusal to Remedy Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Overlander VIN: [XXX] Purchase Date: [XXX] Dealership: Route 18 Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, East Brunswick, NJ I purchased this vehicle new in June 2023. From the first weeks, it has displayed severe, life-threatening defects that make it unsafe and undriveable. Despite presenting it to seven authorized Jeep service stations and contacting both the dealership and Jeep/Stellantis repeatedly, no effective repair, replacement, or buyback has been provided. The SUV has just 1,000 miles yet has been out of service for over two years, resulting in substantial financial loss and hardship. Safety Defects HVAC/Defrost Failure: After 20–30 miles, the A/C stops cooling and blows only hot air. The blower often shuts off completely, fogging the windshield and reducing visibility to zero. Jeep has acknowledged this defect under NHTSA Recall 24V111 (Manufacturer Code 04B), but no remedy has been made available. HUD Mirror Glare: The Head-Up Display mirror is misaligned and reflects light from headlights, streetlights, and sunlight across the windshield, producing blinding glare and making safe driving impossible. Failed Remedy Attempts Seven Jeep service centers refused long test drives, logging less than 5 miles even though the HVAC issue occurs after 30–50 miles. Route 18 staff admitted seeing the HUD glare but told me to “tint the windshield.” Management was dismissive, and Jeep/Stellantis corporate has ignored all follow-ups for over two years. Impact and Remedy Requested I have paid tens of thousands in loans, insurance, towing, storage, and rentals for a vehicle I cannot safely drive. I request an immediate buyback or full refund, or replacement with a safe, defect-free vehicle, plus reimbursement of all related costs. This Jeep is unsafe and abandoned by dealer and manufacturer. Regulators must act now before more consumers are harmed. – [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In February 2025, my jeep would flash a “Service Hybrid System” code that would last about 3-5 seconds and disappear. This happened about 4-5 times over the next few months, code would not stay up and vehicle seemed unaffected. On June 10, I was driving with son on a highway about 60 mph when my car completely shut off, no power to engine, no power steering- absolutely nothing. We experienced a very aggressive jerk when this happened and I limped the vehicle off to the shoulder- we live in a remote area and I had no cell service. I was able to restart my car and drove it in “e-save” mode home. The next day, I drove my car again and had my son and daughter in the vehicle and the same exact thing happened. I was driving about 55mph around a corner with a large semi coming at me in the oncoming lane and my vehicle shut off and lost power and power steering. I was terrified that I would veer into that truck and there was not a shoulder readily available. We had to yet again limp the vehicle a few yards around the corner to pull off and I did not have service. So I had to walk to call my husband to pick my children up. The car has been at the dealership since then and told there is a digital crash code showing with no eta on a fix. Stellantis has denied a buyback yet my car has 26,000 miles on it and is under warranty with no eta on fix. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and unfixable for 60 days now.
