The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.
On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 59,442 miles, the vehicle's instrument panel cluster (IPC) failed suddenly and without warning. The vehicle was driven to a store in [XXX] , with the display functioning normally, but upon restarting the vehicle less than an hour later, the central information screen went completely blank. The screen remains permanently blank and fails to display any driver information. At night, turning the vehicle on causes the screen to emit a faint dark gray backlight, but no text, gauges, or data populate. This failure creates an immediate safety hazard. With a permanently blank cluster, I am forced to drive without access to a speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, or critical vehicle warning and safety lights, severely impacting my ability to maintain safe speeds and monitor vehicle health on public roads. The vehicle was inspected on May 27, 2026, by an authorized Jeep dealership (Lopp Motors in Dodge City, KS). The technician confirmed the failure and noted: "INFO SCREEN BETWEEN TACH AND SPEEDO IS BLANK. NO CODES IN SYSTEM PERTAINING TO CONCERN. TECH TRIED TO RESET CLUSTER AND PERFORMED PROXI ALIGNMENT – WOULD NOT ALIGN. ATTEMPT A VEHICLE CONFIG RESTORE – STILL NO CLUSTER OPERATION. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REQUIRES REPLACEMENT." This identical component failure is the subject of NHTSA Campaign 24V-652 (Jeep Recall 30B); however, my 2020 model year VIN is currently excluded due to manufacturer time-in-service parameters. The vehicle and the failed component are available for inspection upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA #11724127
The vehicle is experiencing intermittent electrical and communication failures affecting multiple systems. The issue first occurred approximately three weeks ago immediately after completing a normal drive. Since that time, the problem has occurred randomly and repeatedly. Following the initial event, multiple warning messages appeared, including “Service Shifter,” along with numerous fault codes indicating loss of communication between control modules. Both the main battery and auxiliary battery have been replaced; however, the issue persists with no improvement. Current symptoms include: •Intermittent loss of communication between modules •Repeated warning messages, including “Service Shifter” •Fault codes that temporarily clear but return after driving •Unpredictable and inconsistent vehicle system behavior The condition sometimes temporarily improves but the faults and warnings consistently return. This creates a safety risk due to unreliable vehicle operation, including potential loss of shifting capability, starting issues, or failure of electronically controlled systems while driving. The failure is ongoing and intermittent but reproducible. The vehicle has not been involved in any accidents related to this issue. Root cause is UNKNOWN but suspected to involve the auxiliary battery system, battery management system, wiring, or related electrical components.
NHTSA #11729095

Jeep will not include my vehicle in the Instrument cluster failure because they predetermined which vin numbers were affected and did not include my 2020 Jeep Gladiator on the list. But my vehicle clearly has the electrical problem causing the center instrument cluster to not work and be blank. I cannot see how many miles I drove or how much gas is in the tank and cannot see anything outside of MPH and RPM.

Instrument panel cluster has gone black. Checked fuses and they are well seated.
NHTSA #11709613
Our dash board has gone black and we can not see how fast we are going how much fuel we have or the milage or anything else on the dash. The radio still works but nothing else on the dash is working. there are 32,000 other vehicles with recalls on this same issue our truck does not fall under the recall batch but obviously should. this is a major safety issue
NHTSA #11705635
The instrument dash cluster stopped working December 13, 2025. I notified the dealership immediately a thy scheduled for us to bring it in December 16, 2025. This is a safety concern because no warning would be visible, no gas gauge visible, no odometer availability either. I took it to the Jeep dealership we bought it from and they confirmed the faulty instrument dash cluster. Currently our Jeep Gladiator has been marked out of service since December 16, 2025. Files a Jeep claim and was assigned a Case Manager. Original quote for the part to become available was 45 days from December 17, 2025. Then supplier canceled the part order so the dealership’s parts department placed another order with an ETA of March 3, 2026. Supplier canceled the order again and now there’s no ETA but the part has been ordered. This is the 2nd major issue we’ve had. June 28, 2024 the transmission went in this Jeep with less than 35000 miles on it.
NHTSA #11709540

NHTSA #11706096
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) failed. The speedometer, fuel gauge, and other driver information displays no longer function. The vehicle and failed instrument cluster are available for inspection upon request. The failure resulted in loss of critical driving information, including vehicle speed and fuel level. This creates a safety risk because I cannot accurately monitor speed, receive warning indicators, or assess vehicle operating conditions while driving. The issue has been diagnosed by ASE certified shop No warning lamps or messages were displayed prior to the failure. The instrument cluster failed suddenly and without warning.
NHTSA #11704167
Center dash LCD screen blinked in and out and then went completely black. Cannot see odometer, maintenance messages, warning messages, or the fuel gauge.
NHTSA #11697986
My 2020 Jeep Gladiator has a defective instrument panel screen. This appears identical to the current documented model recall yet Jeep does not include my VIN on the list of recalled vehicles. The current recall number is: NHTSA 24V-652. This presents a serious safety issue and I hope that someone from NHTSA is looking into this.
NHTSA #11698944
The main instrument cluster went blank while driving down the road. This happened without warning or notice. I lost speed, fuel, turn signal, engine data, tire pressure, etc. I’m driving blind. I’ve read that there was a recall initially issued in 2024, that only covered a little over 30,000 vehicles. According my VIN number, I was not covered under that recall for some reason. I am officially reporting this issue for my VIN number.

This is in relation to 24V – 652. I know this has been a recall for other models built in the same year, but the recall is not on my particular Jeep for some reason. I am having the exact same issue. The instrument cluster panel has gone out and does not work and needs to be replaced. It is the same issue that is being had with a 3.5 screen, but it is now happening on the Rubicon edition, and it is not under the recall which does not make any sense. One morning the instrumental cluster display would not display mileage, fuel capacity, temperature, or any notifications. The dealership inspected it for a blow fuse and a computer reset and determined the display shorted and would need to be replaced. I called FCA regarding a recall for this exact problem on 2020 Jeep gladiators and that this was a known safety issue released by nhtsa. I was told by FCA that this trim level was not included in this recall. My jeep Overlook was overlooked. Trim level deals with extras like heated seats not foundation electrical installation. The recall 30B is as follows: 5/8/2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL Summary Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Jeep Gladiator and 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The instrument panel cluster may experience an internal short circuit and fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, “Controls and Displays.” Remedy: Dealers will replace the instrument panel cluster, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed between October 3, 2024, and January 23, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA’s number for this recall is 30B.

The center gauge has gone out. It was flashing brightly as it went out. It shows: the speed, the battery voltage, tire pressure, gas remaining, mileage and all of the information from the computer that can be changed. The service department said they didn’t know what could be causing it. Perhaps wiring. I’ve checked fuses and wiring and the battery and can’t find any issues. The other two analog gauges work fine. I don’t know if it’s still ticking off the miles I drive. I assume it is? I’m getting no help and I saw that there was a recall but I’m not in it? Any help would be awesome.

My instrument cluster 7.0” tft color display flickers on and off and is distracted while I drive. There is a recall for the 3.5” display that does NOT cover my jeep gladiator but perhaps the recall needs to be expanded. Mine was gladiator is covered by an extended warranty but the part is on back order for 6 months. I am at 5 months but still no sign of a part. Since jeep nor the warranty company nor the dealership will provide a rental car, I am driving an unsafe vehicle with the dash flickering on on off every 3 seconds. It is more distracting at night than during the day.

The LCD screen on the dash indicating special messages, fuel gauge, and speed readout malfunctioned and does not operate correctly. Another recall is in place but not for my specific Jeep.

The contact stated that on both failures the screen illuminated after restarting the vehicle. The contact stated that after the third failure, the infotainment system failed to illuminate after restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) display has started flickering on and off, progressively getting worse until it goes dark. The problem is intermittent and seems to be happening more frequently over time. This issue is distracting when driving; the display shows critical vehicle information.
NHTSA #11651743
The instrument cluster failed back in the Spring. We took it to the dealer where it sat for 4 weeks while the part was back ordered. We took it back from the dealer and changed the batteries, the panel started working again for 3 months the and ultimately failed again. We have tried to manage the gas, but have run out twice on the highway, coming to an unexpected stop with little time to pull over. We can't see warning lights, gas level, cruise control status etc.
NHTSA #11696238
Driver information cluster went blank. There are other complaints for this same item but recall does not cover my VIN.
NHTSA #11644981
The 7" Instrument Panel cluster's digital display has gone completely blank. I see that the 3.5" version has been recalled on some years but not the 7". At least with the 3.5" model there is an analog gas gauge and temperature gauge, with the 7" all this is digital. Currently the only way for me to know how much gas I have is to rely on the Siriusxm Guardian feature which links to an iOS app that occasionally updates status. Anecdotal evidence points to a number of individuals, especially in the 2020 jeep Gladiator, that have this issue.

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator dash Cluster failed on January 28. 44,267 miles, off warranty of 3 years, 36000 miles. No off roading to date. Deemed unsafe to drive by dealer. Part through Chrysler has been "ETA'd" a month at a time, despite weekly updates. I believe this should be reported and investigated throughout the consumer purchases. No warning, driver display went black while driving down the interstate. No idea on gas level, had analog speedometer and RPM, thankfully, but I was 40 miles from my dealer. Manufacturer to date has not "inspected" my Gladiator. They only contacted the dealer to indicate they are "expediting" my part order. Vehicle is available for inspection. It has been sitting outside on the dealer lot since Jan 28, 2025. It was never subjected to the elements prior to this incident: always garaged.
NHTSA #11657239
My Instrument Panel Cluster went out about a week ago. I turned my jeep on in the morning and it was flickering and very hard to read. I found a recall for the same year, make and model as my Jeep Gladiator but my VIN is not included. This is a serious safety issue as most of the time I cannot see my speedometer or my other gauges. I cannot believe there is no recall. Our local dealership is quoting over a thousand dollars to repair when it is obviously an issue with the manufacturer.
NHTSA #11640390
The 7" Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) began flickering constantly in January 2025 then stopped turning on altogether in May 2025. A similar issue led to safety recalls for Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers with 3.5" IPCs. This is much more concerning for owners with 7" IPCs, as these versions do not have analog temperature and fuel gauges. A dealership (Bayside King George, VA) first observed the flickering when test driving the vehicle after performing the last safety recall. I have not brought the vehicle back since the display stopped turning on because dealerships regularly charge ~$2,000 and hold the vehicle for an extended period to fix this with a replacement IPC. Losing the digital speedometer and ability to observe what speed the cruise control is set to, fluid temperatures, tire pressure, and battery voltage is very concerning, and it is puzzling why Jeeps with 7" IPCs, which are harmed more due to this fault, were excluded from this recall. While searching forums about this issue, it was apparent that this was a widespread issue for Wranglers and Gladiators with 7" IPCs.

Instrument cluster has failed at random. No blown fuses etc. no misuse or incidents. Instrument cluster working as normal when started at driven at days start. Started vehicle for second time same day to depart location and instrument cluster completely black and not working. This issue has not fixed itself over time, and is not linked to any other issue causing such. Issue also has not been resolved as a new cluster is almost $500. Instrument cluster not functioning makes it very unsafe to drive as well as makes it impossible to see or find any vital information pertaining to the vehicles health and performance. I can no longer access fuel levels, engine/oil/transmission/etc. temperatures. Oil life, as well as not being able to reset oil life when/if oil is changed. With this issue I can not even see if check engine light is on or if receiving important safety message from vehicle. Also cannot see if vehicle is in 2H 4H N or 4L via dash. As well, but NOT limited to, I also cannot even access vehicles current mileage, and cannot even see battery voltage. My vehicle also is in desperate need of new tires, but because of this issue I cannot even replace them properly as I need cluster screen to make sure the accurate, proper and PRECISE tire size is imputed to vehicle to not affect vehicles performance and most importantly health. It’s ridiculous that their is currently a recall for such exact part, but only certain gladiators are supposedly “affected”. Yet, here I am, with a 2020 Rubicon Jeep Gladiator that has the EXACT issue and am being told my vehicle is not part of such recall.

Jeep Gladiator 7" instrument panel cluster (IPC) screen stopped working. This display shows vital vehicle information such as mileage, fuel level, engine temperature, battery voltage, tire pressure, and other important information. I believe this is a safety issue because of the fact that you have no idea how much fuel you have, which could lead to engine shutting off when fuel is empty. There were no warnings. No lights, buzzers, or any messages in the screen. There is an open recall on Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler models with the 3.5" IPC screen that stopped working (Stellantis recall #30B - issued Sept 5, 2024). My vehicle is a 2020 model with only 20,500 miles, and I am the original owner.

Instrument panel with speedometer, gas gage and other components went black. It is available for inspection. My safety has been put at risk due to unknown conditions of vehicle through instrument panel. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer, I was initially told that it was just a "fluke" and it would never happen again, so it was not fixed. Now I find out there is a recall by Jeep, but my VIN number isn't involved. The instrument panel would initially blink and then it went completely black and stays that way.

On May 27, 2026 at approximately 11:00 PM, my 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland (VIN: [XXX] ) suffered catastrophic engine failure during normal operation at 78,190 miles. The alternator seized, causing the harmonic balancer (crankshaft damper) to fracture. The broken balancer fell into the engine block, causing extensive internal damage requiring complete engine replacement at significant cost. This failure sequence points to a design and/or manufacturing defect in the OEM alternator and/or its mounting system on the 3.6L Pentastar V6. A properly designed alternator should not seize with enough force to fracture the harmonic balancer and deposit debris into the engine block under normal operating conditions. The vehicle was not involved in any accident or operator abuse. It was being driven normally with no prior warning — no dashboard lights, no unusual sounds, no prior related mechanical issues. I request NHTSA investigate whether this failure pattern is systemic across 2020 Jeep Gladiator vehicles and other 3.6L Pentastar V6 platforms, including the Jeep Wrangler, Ram 1500, and Dodge Durango. Sudden complete engine failure at highway speeds is an immediate crash hazard to the driver and surrounding motorists. I respectfully request a formal defect investigation and, if warranted, a safety recall with full remediation and reimbursement of repair costs to affected owners. Engine failure due to coolant leak: in December, 2025, vehicle was towed to dealership due to overheating engine. While driving home from work, Vehicle was exhibiting engine overheating including temperature warning lights, temperature gauge fluctuating from normal to extremely high, a strange sound coming from the front of the vehicle (almost like a fan was not working) and running rough, like a diesel idle. I immediately pulled the vehicle off to the side of the road & shut it off. (Fortunately engine didn’t seize or exhibit these symptoms while I was on the highway just minutes before) I called dealership & they said it needed to be towed in. After having my vehicle for 10 days, Dealership stated thermostat needed to be replaced. Vehicle then exhibited same symptoms a few weeks later along with a check engine light, vehicle is returned to dealership. Dealership NOW tells me they’ve “seen enough of these to know that it’s most likely going to need a left side cylinder head” due to coolant leak into the engine. I am now aware there have been multiple reports to NHTSA for similar issues and that a service bulletin has been issued to the dealerships for this very reason: its a KNOWN issue with no recall in sight. Jeep at this juncture, acknowledging it’s a problem, REFUSES to assist with very costly repair, instead suggesting I should report to NHTSA.
NHTSA #11713827
My vehicle has a 3.6 pentastar engine. Around 75,000 miles the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealership to run diagnostics and find the problem. After completing the diagnostics the service tech informed me that is was an issue related to a TSB 09-011-25. This is a major manufacturing issue that causes engine failure. My engine needs to be replaced. This issue affects many vehicles in the Stellantis lineup and should be a recall. They have not made any effort to inform customers of this issue to have it inspected

My jeep has 140,000 mile engine oil has been changed on time every time. And the engine has cylinders that are missing and it's using antifreeze and riddles like a diesel from time to time. I looked it up and it seems to be a common problem with these engine and there has not been a recall for this. But funny thing is they make a repair kit for this issue. Why has this not been recalled yet it's on all the jeep forms. Even wright ups of fires after a while of driving in this condition.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious mechanical issue involving my 2020 Jeep Gladiator (VIN: [XXX] rienced a complete and unexpected engine lock-up. The vehicle is now undrivable and presents both a functional and potential safety concern. Prior to this failure, there were no warning signs—no engine misfires, loss of power, burning smells, or dashboard warning lights. The incident occurred suddenly and without any preceding symptoms. I am aware of several issues affecting this model year, including: Recall 21V-028 – Involving clutch overheating and potential fire risk in manual transmission vehicles TSB 18-024-21 – Pertaining to PCM software updates and camshaft replacement due to engine misfire (P0300) While I understand that technical service bulletins do not carry the same weight as recalls, the combination of TSB-related concerns and my complete engine failure raises questions about broader mechanical reliability and consumer safety. I have reached out to the dealership (Napleton’s River Oaks CDJR) to request evaluation and warranty support under the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage. However, I am also submitting this report to the NHTSA for documentation and investigation purposes, in the event this issue reflects a larger pattern affecting other vehicles of the same make and model. I respectfully request that the NHTSA review this case and consider whether further investigation is warranted, particularly if other consumers report similar issues. To Whom It May Concern, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally report a serious mechanical failure involving my 2020 Jeep Gladiator (VIN: [XXX] ), which recently experienced a complete engine lock-up without any prior warning signs. The vehicle is now inoperable. Given the severity of the issue, I am requesting a thorough review under the manufacturer’s 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, as well as an investigation into any applicable recalls or technical service bulletins (TSBs) that may relate to this failure. For your reference, I am aware of the following known issues tied to this vehicle model: Recall 21V-028 – Clutch overheating and potential fire risk (manual transmission) TSB 18-024-21 – PCM software update and possible camshaft replacement (associated with Code: P0300) Notably, my vehicle exhibited no prior symptoms—such as loss of power, engine misfires, dashboard warnings, or burning odors—prior to the engine failure. I respectfully request NHTSA’s assistance in confirming: Whether my vehicle is currently subject to any open recalls or safety investigations Whether this type of engine failure has been reported by other 2020 Jeep Gladiator owners What recourse is available to owners under federal warranty or safety defect protections if the dealership is unable or unwilling to resolve the issue I can be reached directly at [XXX] or via email at [XXX] . I appreciate your time and urgent attention to this matter and hope we can find a swift and fair resolution. I was never notified of Recall Y68 for my vehicle by Jeep or FCA, despite federal requirements that recall notices be sent by mail or electronic communication. I only became aware of the recall after my independent mechanic (Jay’s Auto Care, Kirkland WA) diagnosed a cylinder misfire and confirmed engine damage, and advised me to take the vehicle to Jeep. On June 26, 2025, I brought the vehicle to Rairdon’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Kirkland and reported the misfire, with documentation from my mechanic confirming engine damage. While the dealer performed the PCM update under Recall Y68, they refused to address the misfire and instructed me to wait until the check engine light returned before they would act further. On [XXX], when the fault reappeared, I returned immediately to the dealer. I was then told the repair would not be covered due to the time elapsed since my first visit. Jeep corporate was contacted (Case #[XXX]) but has failed to provide any resolution or even respond to my written request. As of August 2025, Jeep’s lack of recall notification, the dealer’s refusal to address a documented engine defect, and Jeep’s non-response have forced me to purchase and install a replacement engine at my own expense through my independent mechanic. Safety Concern: •The vehicle suffered continued drivability issues while waiting for Jeep’s required “re-trigger,” risking further engine damage. •Driving with a compromised engine presents safety hazards, including sudden stalling or loss of power. •Jeep’s failure to notify me of the recall and subsequent refusal to address the misfire left me with no safe or reasonable alternative. Requested Outcome: I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Jeep/FCA: 1.Properly documents whether notification for Recall Y68 was ever sent to me. 2.Provides reimbursement or goodwill coverage for the cost of the replacement engine and labor. 3.Reviews whether dealer handling of this recall complied with FCA/Fed recall INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Driving down the highway at normal rate of speed, the engine light came on and then started blinking and I loss power in the engine. After about 10-15 seconds, the engine light went off and the engine regained power. A few minutes later, the same thing occurred. In the mornings when the engine was cold, the engine would sputter when idling and the check engine light would come on. The dealership mechanics found the problem to be the cam shaft lobe being scored causing piston #5 to misfire. The dealership told me that there are 12,000 backlogged requests for this part. In other words, there is a known defect in the cam shaft. The price of repair is over $4000. This needs to be a mandatory recall by the manufacturer!! 12,000 back logged requests for this part? Really? This is a safet issues because of the engine power loss while driving down the highway. My truck was in the shop at the dealership for 41 days. Ridiculous.

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2020 Jeep Gladiator, which has exhibited persistent and dangerous steering issues since shortly after I purchased it. The issue is commonly referred to as the "death wobble." Despite 5 separate repair attempts performed by an authorized Jeep/Stellantis dealership, the safety defect continues to occur. This issue is very commonly know to Jeep. I have even been told my the Service Agent I worked with at the dealership that the steering damper is known to be inadequate, but still continually put on the Jeep. The issue started at approximately 25,000 miles, and upon the 5th time bringing it in for the same safety defect, the car is at 92,000 miles. At highway speeds, if the vehicle hits any uneven pavement, the car will begin to shack violently and the vehicle becomes difficult to control. On multiple occasions, the vehicle felt uncontrollable. This creates an extremely unsafe driving condition for me, my family, and other drivers on the road. I have to be hyper focused to avoid any pothole or other change in pavement in order to try and prevent the steering defect to happen. Even when the steering damper has been replaced, the new one can break at any point again, creating a danger every time this vehicle is driven on the highway. I have opened a formal complaint with Jeep as I can no longer use the vehicle in good conscious with my 4-month old daughter. The defect-steering damper breaking can happen anytime, as the exact same part is replaced each time with no successful remedy. I am asking the NHTSA to investigate the steering defect, determine whether a broader safety recall is necessary, assist in compelling Stellantis to provide an appropriate remedy for a vehicle that has undergone multiple unsuccessful repair attempts for a safety-critical defect. I have included all service documents and my communication with Jeep/Stellantis.

this 2020 Jeep Gladiator has repeatedly experienced the infamous Jeep Gladiator "Death Wobble" related to front steering component defects/failures/poor design. It creates a very hazardous driving condition. The local dealer, Hilltop Jeep in Richmond, and Stellantis declined to make repairs and instead left us on our own to get the needed repairs done at a local Jeep 4x4 specialist shop and the repairs cost ~3000+ dollars. Stellantis has refused to pay for the needed repairs.

Transmission failed to go into reverse. 2020 Gladiator Rubicon with 57k miles.Transmission had been pausing and then shifting into reverse with a clunk sound. Have taken to a Jeep service shop and they did not find any error codes and were not sure of the cause. Problem started getting worse in the past couple of days to where when try to put in reverse, it will not do anything. the "R" light flashes. Have to shift into drive and then back to reverse to get it to go into revers. However, this has stopped working to where to at times cannot get the transmission to go into revers. the transmission also shifts hard on the upshift from 3-4th gear at certain RPMs/speeds. when has issue of not being able to get into reverse yesterday, had to push the vehicle back while in nuetral in order to get it to where i could then put it in drive. In drive on the main road, it would not shift out of first gear, so had to park it and get a ride home. several hours later was able to get the vehicle home. it appears from looking online that a lot of people have had this exact same issue with the 8 speed auto transmission. the only solution it to replace the transmission which costs upwards of $6k. As many issues there are with this transmission, Jeep should have a recall to fix this issue instead of customers having to shell out thousands of $s. Needless to say, i will never buy another jeep product. JEEP=Junk Each and Every Piece!

On May 17th 2025, I brought my vehicle to the Jeep Chrysler Dodge of Paramus (315 Rte 4 West, Paramus, NJ 07652) for the recall repair. Today, on May 20, 2025, I received my vehicle back after refusing an additional $580 charge for a hydraulic clutch master cylinder replacement, which the dealership claimed was unrelated to the recall. I declined this service due to the financial burden and my belief that the repair should be covered under the recall, but this leaves my vehicle in a potentially unsafe condition. As a Material Planning Specialist in Paramus, NJ, I rely on my Gladiator for daily commuting, and operating it with a damaged component poses significant risks. The repair delay, while only three days and not yet qualifying for New Jersey’s Lemon Law, has resulted in my vehicle being returned without addressing a critical safety issue. During the repair, the dealership informed me that the hydraulic clutch master cylinder is damaged and requires replacement at an additional cost of $580, claiming it is unrelated to the recall. However, when I spoke with the service manager on May 20th, they admitted they have no evidence that the master cylinder damage is not due to the recalled clutch pressure plate. Given the recall’s documented risk of the pressure plate fracturing and causing collateral damage to nearby components (e.g., transmission case), I believe the master cylinder failure is likely a direct result of the defective clutch system. The recall repair should cover such related damages, yet the dealership refuses to include this repair under the recall’s scope without providing a clear explanation or diagnostic evidence.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding repeated and unresolved transmission issues with my Jeep. The vehicle has undergone two full transmission replacements after a $10,000 repair, yet critical symptoms persist, including transmission overheating (up to 240°F) and a loud whining noise while accelerating. These problems continue despite no warning lights or diagnostic codes, creating a false sense of safety. On August 4, 2025, the vehicle reached 240°F and produced loud mechanical noise while driving. This mirrors the same symptoms from before the original transmission repair and represents a clear safety hazard. These issues put me at risk of sudden transmission failure, loss of power, or loss of control while driving. The dealer has confirmed the overheating and replaced the transmission twice, but the problem remains. A brake hookup was also installed incorrectly, causing additional safety concerns that were only corrected after my insistence. Despite multiple service visits, Jeep refuses to: Provide a loaner vehicle Escalate to a corporate-level inspection Offer a buyback or reimbursement Jeep offered only an extended warranty with a deductible, which I declined as inappropriate given the unresolved repair. I have also submitted a formal legal demand to Jeep, which remains unanswered. The lack of diagnostic codes paired with dangerous symptoms and unresolved failures is deeply concerning. This issue should be investigated for a potential defect in the transmission system or software diagnostics. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter and that Stellantis/Jeep be held accountable for unsafe practices and poor post-repair support.

This complaint is a follow-up to NHTSA complaint number 11729095. Since submitting the original complaint, the issue has continued and is now occurring while the vehicle is in motion. The vehicle is experiencing intermittent electrical and communication failures affecting multiple systems. The issue began approximately three weeks ago after completing a normal drive and has persisted since that time, occurring randomly and without warning. Both the main battery and auxiliary battery have been replaced; however, the condition remains unresolved. Current symptoms include: •Multiple warning messages and warning lights activating simultaneously while driving (including “Service Antilock Brake System” and “Service Shifter”) •Loss of communication between multiple control modules •Fault codes that temporarily clear but return •Instrument cluster instability and erratic system behavior Power steering assist becomes intermittent during these events, making steering significantly more difficult, particularly when navigating curves or operating in heavy traffic. This creates a serious safety hazard due to reduced vehicle control. Diagnostic trouble codes associated with this condition include multiple communication-related faults (U-codes), indicating loss of communication between critical control modules. The condition may temporarily improve when the auxiliary battery system is bypassed and the battery sensor is disconnected, but the failures consistently return. The issue is ongoing, intermittent, and reproducible. No accidents have occurred to date; however, the condition presents a clear and increasing safety risk. Photographic evidence of warning indicators and system faults occurring during vehicle operation is available. Root cause remains UNKNOWN but is suspected to involve the auxiliary battery system, battery management system, wiring, or vehicle communication network.

While driving in rush hour traffic, stop and go driving, a service shifter message started to intermittently appear, then the forward collision warning message started to frequently chime in and off, then I lost power steering, check engine light illuminated, other messages auto start stop service, service sway bar disconnect, transmission was stuck in 3rd gear then after a stop it would not shift out of 1st even switching to manual shift mode, was able to pull over to side of road. Turned off the vehicle, used my code reader to clear the codes, started the vehicle back on and everything was clear and vehicle drove as normal. Sure glad it didn’t happen at speed! I have read of other people having the same issue so I wanted it to add my concern as well.

The instrument cluster has gone black.
NHTSA #11720365
The information screen in the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer went blank. Sometimes it will light up blue or even function. The screen is the display for fuel, temperature, odometer, gear selected, etc. From what I have read this happens to many of these vehicles. The fix dealers are using is to use remanufactured parts which are back ordered with no known date of delivery. I am informed the remanufactured part is about $500 not including labor. The vehicle will run and drive, however I won't know how much gas I have, I don't know if the vehicle is overheating, and I don't know how many miles I have traveled without trying to track it. If I want the new part to have an accurate odometer I have to leave it with the dealer for an unknown period of time. This seems potentially unsafe and likely to impact many vehicles given that the part is remanufactured and back ordered. A systemic flaw of this nature seems like something which could warrant a safety recall.

Gauge cluster went blank randomly, no prior warnings, it just went out while driving. It has been at the dealership getting worked on, in which they stated this is an issue they have seen with other jeeps. I find this to be a safety issue since you can't immediately view how much gas you have, miles in the car, speed while driving. It has not been inspected by any other entity other than the Opelika Jeep Dealership in Alabama.
NHTSA #11652009
The instrument panel cluster has short circuited and failed preventing the display of critical safety information such as speed, fuel levels, and engine temperature, etc. This is the same issue that other jeep gladiators have a recall for code NHTSA recall 24V652, but the service department says my jeep that has the exact same issue is not covered. There was no warning and the dash went out while driving. Please add my vin to the list that should be on the recall so that I can have my jeep repaired by the manufacturer for the safety of everyone around me.

The start-stop system reports unavailable, then within a few miles of driving, the check engine light will come on, followed by problems with the transmission shifting gears, sometime causing the vehicle to stay in first or second gear while accelerating and creating a dangerous driving situation. Power cycling the vehicle sometimes helps. Diagnostic trouble codes show low voltage in one or more O2 sensors, "too lean" warnings and cylinders randomly misfiring. Engine runs very rough at idle with the strong smell of gas in the exhaust. Dash information shows battery voltage around 12.3 at start up increasing to low 13 while idling. This occured around 40,000 miles and dealer replaced the aux battery and reset system. It occurred again around 60,000 miles (20 months later) and owner replaced both auxiliary battery (testing showed bad) and main battery. System functioned normally after resetting codes. It occurred again about 8 months later at 72,000 miles. The F42 fuse was pulled, cleared codes and reset computer by removing battery power for 1 hour. System returned to normal.

The side mirror amber lights warning of a vehicle in the blind spot randomly illuminate and remain on for upwards of an hour or upon turning the vehicle off and back on. The dash randomly notifies me that the forward collision warning isn't available and both side mirror blind spot warning lights illuminate for upwards of an hour or until I turn off and restart the vehicle. The Dash randomly goes blank and doesn't display any information such as speed, RPM, warnings etc.

My Jeep Gladiator has recently been having multiple random error messages popping up. ABS warning, service 4WD, service shifter, traction control and others. Dealership charged $200 to diag a bad ABS module and charged $1400 to replace the module and controller. Less than 24 hrs later same issue occurred . Doing my own research this seems to be a common issue not just with Gladiators but other Jeeps as well. Many forums are saying it’s bad wire connectors or broken wires from improper initial installation. Causes issues with speed control, braking, and power steering.

During normal driving, dash would display multiple warning lights. There would be traction control, ABS inactive, and transmission errors displayed on the screen. Twice, there was a loss of power steering while driving. All signs pointed to a CAN buss issue, but dealer could not/ would not find it. Doing research, I found that the CAN buss connector located behind the glove compartment was known in the Jeep community to fail and cause these symptoms. The only replacement is offered by Mopar/Stellantis. Multiple models and makes under Stellantis company use this same connector that has bad solder connections inside. It causes increased resistance inside the connector, and causes CAN buss communication errors, and setting any one of hundreds of possible DTC. In every occasion, there was a loss of stability control, ABS, and multiple occasions of vehicle being locked in Park. In two occasions, the electric assist power steering was disabled.

The digital instrument cluster in my 2020 Jeep Gladiator has failed. The center display (LCD) went completely black, even though the backlight still glows faintly. This screen typically displays critical information such as vehicle speed, warnings, messages, and alerts. Without this display, I cannot monitor key safety information while driving. The analog gauges still function, but the central digital panel remains blank regardless of ignition mode (RUN or ON). After diagnosing the issue myself, I confirmed power was present at the fuse terminals. I inspected and replaced fuse F36, which was damaged and likely contributed to the display losing power or shorting. I also inspected related fuses F43 and F57 (BCM and IOD power supply), which were intact. This is not an isolated problem. Research shows that other Jeep Gladiator owners (especially 2020 models) are experiencing identical symptoms — black instrument displays, “Push Brake to Start” messages that stay on after shutdown, and modules not entering proper sleep mode. These issues align with the symptoms listed in TSB 08-002-21A, which relates to software and communication faults between the BCM and IPC. Jeep dealership confirmed the failure and quoted $700–$1,000 for full cluster replacement, stating there are no DTC codes and no reflash updates available, and that the cluster must be replaced outright. Jeep has not issued a recall, yet this is clearly a widespread failure affecting visibility and safety of vehicle operation. The problem poses a safety risk to myself and others. I cannot see alerts or diagnostic messages while driving. If this happened at night or during highway travel, it could increase accident risk. Jeep should issue a recall or warranty coverage extension for the instrument cluster failure in affected 2020 Gladiators.

Instrument panel cluster stopped working. Therefore, I do not know my speed, how much gas I have, if my car is in four-wheel-drive, tire, pressure, and many other notifications that are located in this instrument panel I went to CMA Jeep dealer in Martinsburg West Virginia, they did verify that this instrument panel cluster was the issue, but they said this my vin was not under the recall. I’m confused as to why there’s no recall on this particular vin when clearly its and issue, but other 2020 jeep gladiators there is a recall on this particular part. Why is my Jeep not part of this recall.

The digital instrument cluster on my 2020 Jeep Gladiator has been completely nonfunctional since late November 2024. This failure means I cannot see the odometer, digital speedometer, and all other vehicle status indicators displayed through the cluster. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized Jeep dealership, which has been unable to secure a replacement part due to a reported supply shortage. Jeep corporate has had this case escalated for months without resolution. As a result, I have been driving without these essential instruments for over 8 months, with no timeline provided and no workaround. In addition to the loss of fuel and mileage visibility (and potentially odometer functionality), I also cannot confirm whether the cruise control is active. This could cause potential safety risks during highway travel. There were no warning lights or error messages prior to the failure. The cluster simply went dark. The faulty component is still in the vehicle and available for inspection. Jeep is aware of the issue, and a case is currently open.
