When driving I reversing my review camera appears to be lagging as well as sometimes it will start buzzing/ making a long beeping noise then the center screen will go dark and reset. This has occurred many times while reversing . I noticed that sometimes I get the sound while driving forward and then the center screen restarts

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while idle at a stop light the auto start/stop feature activated however when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle then went into lockdown mode where all systems were deactivated. The police were contacted and assisted in merging the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was placed in the park while they waited for the tow truck to arrive. When the tow truck arrived the vehicle was not able to be placed back into neutral to move onto the flatbed. The tow truck was able to tow the vehicle onto the flatbed despite the rear wheels being locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but had not been diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,100.

I purchased a 2022 jeep Compass in April of 2024. In the past few weeks the jeep has had a reoccurring issue. Issue is when at a stop, message appears saying "Coolant Temperature to High", the Jeep will beep flash that message, coolant temp gauge will jump to the top then down to the bottom and the vehicle will shut its self off, and check engine light will be solid but the "coolant" message will go away. Along with this, the auto start/stop feature (when at a stop vehicle shuts its self off and electronics run of aux battery, then when brake peddle is released vehicle starts up and power is back on the main battery) has not been functioning, I assume this happened around the time off the first coolant message a few weeks back. While drive I h

Few month ago, I received a paper from the manufacturer saying that the car was on recall. I brought the car to the car dealer and they said that there was a problem with the battery. They changed the battery for a new one. Later on, I received a letter from the Jeep saying that they used my factory limit warranty to replace the battery. And saying that next time if I see a form like this it could be a real bill. Around 2 months and a half after, The light of the battery starts flashing and a message appeared on the dashboard saying that I had to park the car immediately because it could stop at anytime automatically. I had to pull over and call a tow truck. We dropped the car to the car dealer. It was on a Sunday. Then, I had my car ready to pick up 5 days later, on the Friday. They told me that they had to change the alternator. I took my car and it seemed all fine. Four days later, the light of the passenger seat belt start flashing and the beep sound started and wouldn't stop. The message was for the passenger to put his seat belt on. The thing is that there was no passenger. I had my hand bag on the passenger seat and I put it away. I turned off the engine. Waiting for 10 minutes and turned on the engine again. Again, the sound went on for the seat belt of the passenger. I turned off the engine again and waited another 10 minutes. This time when I turned on the engine, a message appeared saying that the emergency contact were not available. And another message, that there was something going with the air bag. At this point, I felt very uncomfortable driving the car. I had to drive the car very slow hoping the airbag would not go off. I parked my car in my garage. I called Jeep the day after since it was already closed and they told me to bring the car the week after since they were fully booked with repairs. I could do this as I was traveling to Europe for few weeks. I will be back to LA on the 10 of august and hope to find a solution. Thank you.

I wasn’t having any issues with the backup camera not working that was the last recall on my Jeep Compass. The software fix to the radio, however, has made it so the radio mutes now when the Jeep is put in reverse. When this happens, I become so focused on the radio not playing that I am backing up without paying attention to the camera screen or what is behind me. I spent 25 years driving without a back camera and no accidents. I have spent 35 years driving with a radio when backing up and no accidents. I have been driving less than a year with the radio muting when the Jeep is put in reverse and I am seriously concerned that it is going to cause me to have a wreck. Please have Chrysler figure out a way to still allow the back camera to work without muting the radio in reverse.

I’ve experienced my jeep compass when auto start is turned off and the car is at a red light and shuts off as soon as I let go of pedal the car seems to have trouble “turning on” it shakes and the lights flash. I have to just put ny car in park at the light and turn my engine off and on to get my car to work.
NHTSA #11587309
I am not sure what is going on but my compass will stall out while at a complete stop and put the car into the parking brake… thus causing user have to turn off the car in the middle of traffic and restart to drive again. This has happened four times & has been in the shop 3 times and jeeps refuses to pay for it, or replace it although it is still in warranty

Instrument cluster is stuck in day time mode. There is no way to dim it at night which makes it hard to drive and see during night travel.
NHTSA #11529249
For over six months, I have been unable to see my dashboard during the day. It is stuck on night mode. This causes the driver to be unable to see fuel gauage along with other warning lights that may be displayed. This is extremely dangerous and could cause unexpected vehicle stops on roadways. I have mentioned this to the dealership each time I am there and I'm told they don't know how to fix it.
NHTSA #11528340
I have had my Jeep for 13 months and suddenly the digital cluster display on the dashboard and the Uconnect tablet are so dim that during the day they are unable to be seen. I am unable to see my fuel gauge, or any vehicle warning icons that may appear. This is a HUGE safety issue. I am also unable to use the onboard navigation with the Uconnect tablet which is one of the things that I love about my Jeep. I took it to the dealership and they showed me a Jeep bulletin dated September/2022 addressing this issue (case number:S2208000157) stating "engineering is investigating a service solution" and was informed that there is currently no fix for this problem even though it is very common in the 2022 Jeep Compass. This is unacceptable.

All Vehicles with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that are configured in a manner to illuminate the primary low beam or high beam headlamps, or a significant output of an LED source are a danger to other vehicles at night if they are too bright. Vehicles with the above characteristics put drivers at risk as the operator of that vehicle assumes they have their lights on due to the amount of light they can see, but the taillights are not illuminated in any fashion. There are no active or passive warnings to the operators that they have no lights on. They assume that because they can see, others can see them but that is not the case in most instances. The drivers themselves, in newer cars at least with digital information displays, are often seen with brightly illuminated dashboards hindering their own visibility because the car believes it is daylight, and has all internal brightness settings to max to ensure visibility. The easiest proposal for remediation is a mass recall and software update by the manufacturers to these vehicles where the DRL function is replaced by using a low output light on all directions, similar to parking lights (where the brake lights are in a dim setting similar to being on, and the front turn signals are in a dim setting) thus increasing daytime visibility still, while also having rear-facing safety for themselves and other drivers. This is of course, not limited to the 2022 Jeep Compass, but all brands, and a large percentage of vehicles form the last decade. More and more drivers are not familiar with their vehicles, and as automated settings for headlamp control advances, drivers are no longer familiar with the standardized symbols indicated the difference between parking lights, low beams, and fog lamps. See attached photos for 3 examples from three different manufacturers. I see several daily on my way to work in Boston, and numerous drivers flashing their highbeams at the unilluminated vehicle, in an attempt to alert them.
NHTSA #11623051
The digital dashboard lights automatically dim instead of brighten at night so I'm unable to see the speedometer and other instrumentation on the dashboard. I had my vehicle serviced during a recall for this and it fixed it but the problem has reoccurred. This is extremely dangerous because I cannot see the dashboard at night.
NHTSA #11620022
THE AUTO DIM FEATURE DOES NOT WORK, THE DISPLAY AND DASH LIGHTS STAY BRIGHT EVEN AT NIGHT WHEN ITS SET TO AUTO MODE. MAKING IT VERY DESTRACTING AND BLINDING AT NIGHT. A RECALL UPDATE HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON 11/17 BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE.
NHTSA #11556058
Dear Representative, my 2022 Jeep compass has a recall related to the brightness level of display. According to manufacturer's claim, the brightness on the instrument panel center cluster needs to be adjustable to provide at least two levels of brightness. Based on this problem, safety risk is defined as "An IPC display that is not visible to the driver may result in the driver's attention being distracted from the driving task while trying to locate a desired display, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." in your website. It seems the safety risk is related to the low brightness level of the display. When it comes to my car, the brightness is not adjustable. It stays in the highest brightness level. Since the brightness level is at the highest level, it does not cause any safety risk. Please check the pictures I uploaded in this claim. Intentionally, I took these photos during a sunny day which will allow you to see how clear and visible the display due to high brightness level is in one of the extreme condition (i.e., in a sunny day). Even the brightness level is adjustable, there is no higher level than what the display has now. May I request you to remove the recall on my car? Thank you
NHTSA #11541363
Every morning the instrument panel and the radio/navigation screen are very dark. All of a sudden it will turn on. Sometimes a mile down the road and sometimes 5 miles down the road. Sometimes it never turns on. If I need to use the gps/navigation directions this is a big issue as I cannot see the screen. I cannot see the gas guage or instrument warnings. I cannot see the spedometer.
NHTSA #11535010
During night driving, the instrument cluster does not dim, staying bright and I am unable to manually lower the brightness, this produces a glare around the car which makes it extremely difficult to drive at night, I have also had instances where the instrument cluster dims during the day for a brief period of time where I can hardly read my current speed, then it returns to being bright after a few moments. I have not taken the car into Jeep for service yet but have an appointment scheduled.
NHTSA #11535027
The interior displays, instrument panel, and touch screen are stuck in bright day mode. The dimmer switch in the dash will not respond or change the brightness but still turns the overhead lights on and off. At night this causes blinding conditions and a glare on the windows decreasing visibility. The issue is to be investigated by the dealer, there was a wait to get it checked. There are no warning lights and the vehicle may be inspected at any time.
NHTSA #11536364
The backlight for the center cluster display is failing to properly illuminate during daylight. This causes it to be hard/impossible to see during day time hours. There is currently a recall for the 2022 Jeep Compass having the same issue, however mime does not fall under the recall. I would advice looking further into the recall, because it appears more vehicles are affected than stated.
NHTSA #11529352
Infotainment system and dashboard lighting is stuck on the brightest setting and not able to be turned down. Seems to be a software glitch or something. Driving at night is more difficult as blinded by the bright displays.
NHTSA #11536144
Dash cluster lights do not illuminate in daytime, not visible in daytime driving conditions, also gps screen same problem.it is a dangerous distraction.went to dealer and they said Chrysler is aware of problem ,but there is no fix at this time.
NHTSA #11524643
Dashboard screen behind steering wheel and middle dashboard mounted screen are not adjusting for brightness during the day. The only things you can read during the day are the large velocity number in the center on the driver side screen and the blue line for route directions on the middle screen.. At night or very dim driving conditions the screens are bright enough to read, but in full sun it is all but viewless. I've read that there have been some recalls (90 vehicles) that were manufactured in summer 2022, but my VIN is not on that list.
NHTSA #11532442
I have insufficient backlighting of the instrument panel center cluster display. making it unreadable during daylight driving. I see there was a recall on this but dose not come up for my compass. With not knowing speed can be unsafe driving. I talked to dealer about this and They know of this issues and said they know of 3 more from that deal with same issues.
NHTSA #11521192
After approximately 16 months of proper operation, the instrument cluster in the dash would no longer dim after dark. The vehicle has an "auto-dim" feature that reduces dash illumination from "full on" daytime illumination to an appropriate level for nighttime driving. With this lighting malfunction, the instrument cluster is extremely bright after dark and compromises the driver's night vision resulting in glare and with extended exposure, mental fatigue. In order to safely operate the vehicle after dark, one must prop a piece of paper or similar mask over the instrument cluster, obscuring view of the speedometer and other dash warning lights. This lighting malfunction is well covered on numerous Jeep owner blogs and message boards. I have had the vehicle inspected by the dealer where it was purchased and the diagnosis was the same as reported by many other owners: "There is no known cause and thereby, NO KNOWN FIX". There problem is acknowledged by FCS in their internal STAR CASE #S2208000157.
NHTSA #11539791
My dash and radio can’t decipher when it’s night or day. Screen is dark during the day and I can’t see how fast I’m going or where I’m going. It was working fine for about three weeks into me having the car. Now it doesn’t work I just purchase this car. Problem has been confirmed by a dealer. The problem happened on February 25, 2023.
NHTSA #11513429
Screen stuck in night mode & I have bad eyes & need sunglasses during the day. Therefore I cannot see my speed or gauges at all during the day. Already have a speeding ticket because of it
NHTSA #11515328
The instrument cluster AND the display screen cannot be dimmed either manually or automatically. They are both in full brightness mode at all times. This creates a driving hazard at night because the lights are so bright that I cannot see other cars, the road or road signs as clearly as I should. I took my car to a jeep dealership and they told me it's a known issue but jeep currently has no fix for it. The dealership provided me with their internal publication regarding internal lights that are too dim but this is the opposite problem than what I have. I told this to the service tech but he did not provide a response. I have attached the document
NHTSA #11509049
Unable to dim dash lights/touch panel or rear view mirror for safe night driving. Began about 6 weeks ago. Jeep has known about this for months as it is reported on the Jeep Compass forum going back prior to Aug 2022. The touch panel can be turned off with a button, but due to the “software glitch” the manual dash dimmer knob will not function and vehicle is unable to recognize its night. I now drive with an envelope covering my instrument panel with only the speedometer visible due to the brightness after almost going off the road last week when I could not see a deer in front of me until the last minute due to the excessive brightness and glare. Other consumers have suggested unhooking batteries and hard resets, but also report problem returns. Dealers report being unable to fix issue with changing components and more vehicles being brought in weekly for same issue. Vehicles should be recalled and a manual dimmer switch installed that functions independently of the light sensor before people start getting killed, if accidents have not already occurred due to this. I contacted Jeep last week and was told a dealer would get back to me- nothing.

NHTSA #11732105
I found a bolt head and a washer laying on my garage floor. After looking under the vehicle, it broke off from where the right side front cross member mounts to the bracket that attaches to the vehicle body. I took the vehicle to the dealer, they said the bolt was on back order and had no time frame when it would be available. They said that the vehicle was safe to drive because there were five other bolts holding it to the body. The dealer kept the bolt head and washer.

Turn signal does not cancel. Intermittent problem that occurs infrequently. Safety concern because turn signal may signal for one direction when driving the car to the opposite direction. I am reluctant to pay about $250 to dealer to diagnoise because issue is intermittent. Dealer refuses to note complaint on customer records without diagnosis. I called customer care and reported issue, 4/15/25 case # 92675100. Customer care requested to have dealer diagnose, but I explained that issue is intermittent and difficult to reproduce.
NHTSA #11655281
The start/stop has been an ongoing issue for awhile now. It's been to the dealer multiple times for this issue. The vehicle will sometimes just stop while moving or will not start at a light. Each time requires the vehicle being placed in park, turning off the vehicle, restarting the vehicle, and releasing the parking brake and finally shifting into gear. This is dangerous to have this happening in traffic. Jeep seems to not care about these concerns.
NHTSA #11631350
Hello I have had my vehicle for 2 yrs and out of the 2yrs my car has stalled mid traffic at least 10 times. I come to a complete stop at at a red light then when the light turns green I take my foot off the break to give it gas and the truck emergency brake light come on and the car shuts down now I’m in mid traffic praying to God that I don’t get rear ended cars are blowing at me my children are scared I’m scared I’m going to get rear ended and my babies an I will die! We are traumatized and I’ve taken my car to the dealership several times for this matter just for them to tell me they don’t know why this is happening. I pay almost 700$ for a vehicle that I’m scared will be the death of me and my family please please I beg of you help me as the dealership isn’t helping I’m so scared.

At night the backup camera is extremely dark and very dangerous when backing up at night. I almost backed over my son who was walking behind my car. It's way too difficult to see. The dealership said everything is to spec. I've seen many online complaints about this.

When the sun is out it makes a really bad light reflection on the center consol display border, the shifter and shifter cover. Since it’s made of gloss materials it reflects In your eyes causing loss of sight because of the light reflection. This beams sun light right into the drivers eyes.

When first purchased it with in a month it had to go back in bc shifter service appeared. This has happened multiple times since with a month to several months between episodes but the hard shifting never stops and they say it’s just normal. The 4th oil change as usual I had them do oil and rotate tires and once again they said they adjusted the shifter and fixed a recall. I asked them to also check the tires bc everyone id make a sharp turn or anything I was getting some weird noises and also the steering wheel would jerk out almost out of my hand or shake. They said couldn’t find any issues (idk how they had time as it only took the time an oil change would) well a few weeks ago I had another dealership do my oil change and tire rotation my tires was on so tight it took them forever to get the tires rotated so they and I assumed that was the issues with the jerking and noise. Fast forward to this weekend [XXX) today. Steering wheel while traveling out of town begin to vibrate worse tire pressure was fine but it shift hard if I’d stop and get back in start again it be ok for a while. I got back home and put in park and the steering wheel was vibrating so bad the whole car was shaking. As if the transmission or caliper was stuck got it shut off let it sit for a few hours started it back it was ok but hard shift several times. First time was month into owning it last was yesterday [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Car stalled out in the middle of the road out of nowhere. The car was on, but the gas stopped working. The emergency parking light turned on as well as the check engine light. I was finally able to move the clutch into neutral and someone stopped to help me push my car to the side of the road. The gas never started working again so I had to get a tow to the dealership. This was extremely dangerous as I was blocking a busy lane of traffic, and had just gotten off of the highway 2 minutes prior!
NHTSA #11519865
I came to a stop at a red light. My auto start/stop turned off the vehicle as it normally does. I was making a right turn at a red light after yielding to oncoming cars. When I took my foot off the brake the car struggled to restart but did start moving forward slightly so I was moving into the intersection and into a traffic lane. The car shut off immediately again and the emergency brake turned on. I did not see any signals or warning symbols flash up. I was finally able to get my car to restart after turning it off completely and then back on again. Because when the car didn’t restart it had moved up slightly I was in the way of traffic and completely stopped where I could have been hit by another vehicle. I also could have been rear ended as the cars behind me expected me to move forward and my car suddenly shut off and would not drive. It seemed as though it stalled but I am unsure which system failed to cause this but it put me in a very dangerous situation.

Instrumentation not bright enough during daylight. Per NHTSA campaign ID number 23v058000. Mine was not included in the recall. They say they can’t repair Jeep engineering working on it. How did they fix the recall cars?
NHTSA #11538675
Having trouble with instrument and info screen lighting. Car vin number not covered in first recall. I see today they issued another recall and again my car is not covered in the recall. We have a major problem with Jeep
NHTSA #11539328
The cluster display on my vehicle is dim too non visible in full sunlight , daylight operating conditions . Automatic display functions turned off and manual brightness adjusted full, yet the dim to non existent backlight does not change. I been told this is a problem and FCA engineers are looking at, but at what priority. It seems that more and more of these complaints are showing up. There needs to be a recall to fix.
NHTSA #11532345
Middle cluster of dashboard is extremely dim and unresponsive to attempts in settings to alter/fix it. We have 2 additional 2022 Compass models in our family, and all three have this issue. We are submitting separate reports for each VIN.

While driving down the radio, my infotainment system began flashing on and off, failing to properly load. This can cause a distraction in the vehicle, leading to an accident. The dealer stated could not duplicate.

NHTSA #11515154
The dash lighting and radio are not dimmable, nearly impossible to see in bright daylight. Radio flashes on and off. Freezes up. Screens and input changes intermittently. The lights are sometimes too dark to see at night and dimmer switches don't do anything. I have had numerous problems with the electrical issues with this vehicle. There needs to be an investigation or recall for these issues. They get fixed at the dealership, only to return. Lastly, the defroster won't turn off. Heat is directed through the defroster and rear center stack when only on floor mode. Dealer says they fixed it and operating normally, but it isn't. Just too many issues with this vehicle. Seems to all be electrical in nature.

The Compass has been stuck in “night mode,” cannot adjust the navigation panel or more importantly, the dashboard. I cannot see the dashboard in daylight, not able to see mph, any warnings etc. I see there is a recall but my car is not listed. I took it to the dealer in mid March 2023 and they said there was nothing they could do. Please help! I purchased this vehicle used and the issue was present.
NHTSA #11513808
The dashboard screen and main screen have been stuck in night mode for months. This makes driving during daytime hours extremely difficult because the dashboard screen cannot be seen. This screen includes, but is not limited to, speed, tire pressure, lame departure warning, and temperature. The vehicle has been to the dealer multiple times and the manufacturer has been contacted. The problem has been known to the manufacturer since at least November 2022. A recalled was issued describing these problems. However, this vehicle was not included in the recall and while my dealer received permission to order the parts, the parts are still not even available to perform the repair and there is no ETA on when they will be ready.
NHTSA #11518291
My instrument cluster/dashboard glitched and became stuck in night mode. Whenever I would drive during daytime hours it became impossible to see my radio screen along with my speedometer since it's all a screen. Because of this I can barely see my speed or fuel level or any alerts along with not being able to see my GPS screen. I brought it to the dealer and they have no fix for it yet so it's been sitting at the dealership over a month. I am currently trying to get Jeep to buy the car back from me. Thank you!

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while at a stop sign the vehicle lost motive power while the emergency brake signal illuminated. The contact shifted to park to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

The component that failed is the start-stop gas-saving feature on my 2021 Jeep Compass, which I leased in 2021. Initially, the feature stopped working entirely, and the dealer claimed it was due to a battery issue, which they replaced. However, after the repair, the start-stop system began to stall and jolt when stopping at traffic lights. Despite reporting this to the Jeep mechanic, the issue was not considered urgent, so I delayed returning it for further service due to my busy travel schedule and the fact that I rarely drive. I simply avoided using the feature when I did drive. The stalling occurred about four times, but the most significant safety issue happened recently. I was stopped at a traffic light on a busy street when the start-stop feature reactivated automatically. When the light turned green, my vehicle failed to restart, leaving me stuck in the middle of the road with a completely dead car. I had to call AAA for a tow, and I was left blocking traffic in an unsafe situation where I was at risk of being hit by other vehicles. This issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center after this incident, and the vehicle is still available for inspection upon request. To my knowledge, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives since the event. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating a problem before the complete failure, though the stalling and jolting after the initial repair were clear symptoms that something was wrong. The vehicle has only 14,000 miles on it and is less than three years old, so this issue should not be happening in a nearly new car.

I have my car for 2 years and the engine has stalled on me 4-5 times at lights trying to come out of the start stop mode. I’ve almost been rear ended multiple times. When these random incidents occur cars behind me do not know what is going on. I took my car to the dealer on 10/3/2023 and they were able to duplicate the problem as I’ve stated it does it at random the code service shifter also flashes on the dash as well as auto start stop not available. But the dealer says the codes are not stored and can’t find them.

Start/stop system. (Shuts engine off at red light, then turns back on when you take foot off brake and press gas) Was at a red light, when light turned green the car did not move. Had to put the car in park and hit the ignition button a few times before it would go.

Car has overheated and needed to be towed twice, the most recent being today. Car overheats suddenly and breaks down in unsafe locations including the interstate. The car has been to the dealership four times for engine problems with no fix. Check engine light comes on after car overheats.

On 04/12/2026, I was stopped at a red light. The auto start/stop engaged. I removed my foot from the brake, the auto start kicked on, but did not reengage the engine. The notification panel suddenly started blinking, entire panel lit up. The parking brake automatically engage despite not being touched. The option for selecting terrain started toggling through all options. Vehicle then seemingly died. Put vehicle in park. Pressed button to restart engine. Car was successfully restarted.

The vehicle has an automatic start stop function that randomly turns off the vehicle when at a stop sign and puts the brake on. This has happen 3 times since leasing this car last year. I took the car into the dealership after the second occurrence to get it checked out but they could not duplicate the problem. The first occurrence was around 6 months after getting the car.

Occurs at stop sign/light when idling. The car will shut off and will not turn back on although all features in the car are running. The screen will display ‘engine running’ but the vehicle will not drive. I will push the stop/start button and nothing happens. It will take a few minutes for the vehicle to come back on again. This has happened numerous times at random. I have taken my vehicle to two separate dealerships and neither have been able to figure out how to repair the issue. I do not feel safe as this is a high risk for accident and I have two children who are in the vehicle.

Everytime I drive my vehicle all the ADAS lights go off and start dinging. I then reset the ones I can in the vehicle settings and drive to my destination. I shut off the car and when I come back and start it all the lights come back on again. This has been happening since I purchased the vehicle a year ago with under 40000 miles and Jeep didn't help me and refused to fix the issue. I have made multiple complaints to Jeep and my local Jeep dealership and they have been no help.
NHTSA #11740458
Every time that I get into my Jeep there's an issue with the ADAS. Almost immediately once I pull onto the highway 3 warnings will appear on the dashboard display the first is: Blind Spot Temporarily Unavailable, then two orange triangles appear on my mirrors and will not go away. It also happens every time that I make a turn in my car. The next warning that appears is my Automatic Break System is available and "need servicing". My car has less than 12,000 miles on it and is practically brand new. After typing in these problems and doing a quick Google search along with a Reddit search it appears that this issue is widespread among Jeep Compass owners. Please fix this issue IMMEDIATELY! It's extremely dangerous as I have two children that I'm transporting every single day in my car.

Bought my vehicle new at 29 miles. At 4k miles my auto braking light would come in as off. Every 2k it would turn itself off, even though I want the feature on. Even though it says it's off there will be times the warning will alert me to brake for no reason and someone's brake for no reason. I've gone to the dealer multiple times and they wouldn't find a code or a reason why it was doing that, and brush it off like nothing. every 2k miles out would turn off. Now after hitting over 40k miles I started to experience it more often where it would tell me brake. Now something at 49k miles. When I'm on a slight hill or high incline when my vehicle turns off and tries to start it will roll back and not move forward even when I apply the gas like the engine is still off. When that happens the SERVICE HILL HOLDER, and then multiple other safety features have warnings for, SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE, ACTIVE LANE MANAGEMENT UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, STOP/START UNAVAILABLE SERVICE START/STOP SYSTEM. I told the dealer that had my car for a month at 49k miles about the hill holder and what my vehicle did. No results and still have this issue. When you turn off the vehicle the service lights disappear and can't be read. This happens almost every day now. I replaced my AUX battery after it seems to happen when my vehicle is off and struggled to turn back on at times and it still does it. I'm afraid that I'm going to get into an accident when people see I took my foot off the brake and will get rear ended or if my vehicle is going to brake itself and cause an accident or the other safely issue fail. The stability control can be an issue and drive mode I can't turn off or on those features when those notifications pop up. What can happen, will it eventually do this on a freeway and cause a major accident or when I'm through an intersection..5 different dealers and have no answer... Help

I noticed a subtle clunk noise about a month ago coming from the steering wheel and the front left side of the vehicle when turning the steering wheel at a low velocity and also when the car was idle. The noise gradually started becoming more frequent and louder as days went on. As I was driving the vehicle was not driving smooth as usual it almost felt wobbly when turning the steering wheel. There has not been any warning lights or warning messages that came on or alerted me. I thought it could possibly be my front left tire since the noise was coming from the front left side of the car. so I had my tires checked and had a rotation done. The car continued to make the noise and wobbly when I would turn the steering wheel. I felt the vehicle may possibly not be safe to drive especially on the highway so I decided to make an appointment for Monday September 15,2025. I brought my vehicle to the San Antonio Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership early morning to get the issue checked. I had to leave my vehicle there due to the service advisor stating it would take 2 days for the diagnostic to be done. They inspected the vehicle and ran diagnostic. Two days later let me know their tech test drove the vehicle replicated the clunk noise and used a special diagnostic tool called Chassis Ear tool in order to pin point the issue and found that it was coming from the steering gear. They gave me an estimate stating the steering gear and outer tie rods ends need to be replaced. When I spoke to the service advisor he told me they would have to order a rack and pinion steering gear system. Stated the repair will not be covered under jeep train warranty and my limited warranty already expired just 4 months ago. My vehicle only has 35,500 miles. I keep up with all maintenance and multi point inspections have been done on my vehicle on time. They don’t know why the steering gear has failed and also mentioned they currently have other customer’s Jeep compass there with the same exact issue

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while attempting to turn the steering wheel, there was an abnormal vibration with a clicking sound coming from the steering column. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering column had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Envision CDJR West Covina (298 N Azusa Ave, West Covina, CA 91791) who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The steering rack was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed again and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,963.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while stopping at a drive-thru window, the steering wheel began spinning to the left and then to the right independently. The vehicle then suddenly turned right and hit a nearby curb which then made the vehicle turn to the left hitting another curb. The vehicle continued to turn to the left and right, hitting nearby curbs for approximately 4-5 minutes before settling in nearby mulch about 15 feet from the driver through the window, causing the vehicle to stop. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning lights. The vehicle was towed. A police report was not been filed. All the wheels attached to the vehicle, excluding the front-driver side wheel, had blown. There was no damage to any surrounding properties. The contact received injuries to their chest however no medical attention was needed. The dealer was contacted and they were advised to contact the manufacturer. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and it was confirmed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The manufacturer had opened a case regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 4,968.

While driving the vehicle on a town street, the front wheel/CV joint/axel component failed. As part of this failure, the CV joint/wheel completely separated from the axel making the car impossible to steer. This failure was unbelievable for a relatively new, low milage vehicle. (In another context--on the highway or in busy traffic, a major or fatal accident could have occurred.) Luckily the car was traveling at a rather slow speed on a road where no other cars were present at that particular time. This incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 10. The car was towed to the dealer State Line Jeep (Somerset, MA) on Monday, Aug. 13. The car is still at the dealership and it is curious that they claim they have not been able to find certain parts or get rims (which were damaged at the car slowed against the curb). This is a major and very dangerous defect in this vehicle. Photos and more info can be provided if asked.

My vehicle is not smoothly moving from one gear to another. Upon slowing the vehicle to prepare for a stop and then before completing the stop, I speed up because I am able to go (ex. light was red and turns green) the vehicle "jumps". The "jump" is like when a manual transmission vehicle is about to stall. My vehicle does not stall, but the jumping jostles the entire car. It is very noticeable, it feels like being rear-ended. The dealership has informed me that they are aware of this issue and that it is due to the 8 speed gears being close together, as well as due to the computer system preparing to stop and not understanding a full stop doesn't happen so when I hit the gas it causes it to be confused and it makes a last minute decision to switch gears which results in the jumping. The dealership cannot do anything about this problem. They state that it will not cause lasting damage of effects on the transmission/vehicle. Unfortunately, I do not believe that for a second. But also, when this jumping occurs, the vehicle is not maneuvering in the standard expected way a vehicle would, therefore, it can cause an accident.

I have been experiencing intermittent Hard shifting and lurching forward while my vehicle shifts.upshifting and downshifting are both a problem while vehicle is cold and also when warmed up. Other times it feels like it goes into neutral right before shifting and then all of a sudden slams into gear. These problems began since I bought the vehicle brand new on March 14, 2023. I have been to the dealer where I bought the vehicle for this issue a total of 7 times, where a case was presented to chrysler. Chrysler asked the dealership to do various tests to check for a problem, in which they were not able to resolve. Each test that was done required me to keep coming back to the dealer which totaled 7 times, 3 in which required a rental car (2 visits were repair attempts and 5 visits were various tests being done on the car.) The vehicle is under warranty and was first taken in for this issue at 1164 miles. Chrysler concluded that adaptive and fill counts are high,so they cleared them and blamed it on the fact that I do a lot of city driving. However this issue has been present since i bought the vehicle. Chrysler closed the case. The issue was not yet resolved. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle as it hesitates to shift or shifts harshly which I feel is a safety concern.

Collision warning system has malfunctioned more than 3 times and has been brought into the dealer. My vehicle is equipped with collision warning and active braking. Typically when the collision warning occurs if I do not manually hit the brakes immediately it will brake the car for me. The first 2 times it occurred in a residential area at low speeds with nothing in front of me. The system flashed the brake warning when there was absolutely nothing in front of me. In both of these instances I was lucky that there was no car following behind. The dealer was not able to replicate the issue or find an error with the system. The 3rd and most recent time it occurred on the highway at a speed of around 65MPH. During this occurrence there was NO braking system warning on my dash the car system slowed rapidly and almost entirely on the freeway out of nowhere with no cars immediately in front of my vehicle. During this instance there was a car directly behind me and they had to swerve into the shoulder to avoid rear ending me after my car slowed to a speed of nearly 30 mph on the freeway. This put not only my safety at risk but the car behind me as well as we both would have been involved in an accident if the shoulder had not been next to the lane we were in. I brought my vehicle in again and they again were not able to duplicate or find any issues with the system.

my 2022 jeep compass trailhawk, pedestrian warn and braking shuts it's self off every day. as does my front collision warning and braking and i have to keep turning it back on. since i only don't always notice the warning light on the dash this is really bad. Yesterday while on a 250 mile trip. all of it stopped working after i stopped for gas for over 150 miles of my trip as did the cruise control and and lane departure system and steering assist. thankfully i have only drive the Keep 2200 miles and am not used to relying critical safety features.

I purchased a brand new 2022 Jeep Compass and used the adaptive cruise control while driving to an appointment, immediately after the purchase. 15 miles later, one-by-one the car's system warnings started lighting up and beeping. I came to a stop light so thought to restart the car while waiting for the light to turn green. I shifted the car to park and tried to turn off the car but it wouldn't shut off. So I tried to put it back into drive but the shift wouldn't move. I called Chrysler Roadside Service and Fire and Rescue showed up and had to manually force the car into neutral to push my car to the side of the road. Meanwhile the battery also died because though I couldn't move the car, the air and radio remained working. In total I waited 3 hours for the tow truck in McLean, VA, an urban city.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Powertrain/Engine Control System. The vehicle suffers from a total loss of motive power while driving in traffic. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle unexpectedly enters "Limp Mode" while driving at various speeds in active traffic. When this happens, the accelerator pedal becomes completely unresponsive, forcing the vehicle to a crawl or a dead stop regardless of the flow of traffic around it. This creates a life-threatening risk of rear-end collisions and high-speed accidents, as the car cannot maintain speed or move to safety. I am forced to operate a vehicle that effectively "shuts down" while I am in the middle of the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple independent mechanics have confirmed the stalling and electrical instability. Despite replacing the crankshaft sensor and both batteries, the sudden loss of power in traffic persists. Shops have stated the issue is a manufacturer-level failure they cannot fix. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has been inspected by independent service centers. The manufacturer has not inspected it yet, as it is extremely hard to duplicate unless it is driven for a certain time at certain temperatures. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The failure is temperature-dependent, occurring almost exclusively when ambient temperatures reach 71°F or higher. When the failure happens, the dashboard displays flashes the drive sign(limp mode). There are no other lights or anything triggered to display what the issue is related to. These symptoms began roughly one year ago, and has returned daily now that it is getting hot again.

On 8/26/25 I got the 88A recall fixed on this jeep at Duluth dodge in Duluth mn .. I left dealership and my ac stopped working brought it back they fixed and it and got it working now on 8/30/25 I’m at a stop light and my jeep stalls, it went to go start for me to drive and it died. The emergency brake came on and I couldn’t get it off the state trooper actually helped me get it off. Had to get my vehicle towed to my house. All lights come on but it says “blind spot alert temporarily unavailable “ check engine light is on and my jeep will not start. I was stranded on a busy road at a stop light with my child in the car . I know this is due to the recall cause my jeep ran just fine and did not have any issues until this recall was “fixed”. This recall actually has my jeep not working at all. All failure lights came on after my jeep stalled and wouldn’t turn back on. From what I’m reading this is exactly what happened to other people . Please FIX THIS

I have ask the dealers (Sons Chrysler Jeep) service department to look at this issue on several occasions but they have said they cannot find any issues. My vehicle is currently at the dealer for this issue as it stopped 3 times in the past 2 days.

Car started beeping and information center was flashing and drive indicator was flashing . At another time car shifted in reverse and would not move. Humming sound coming from front right wheel at 40mph and would not go away until until 60mph. Was told it was the all wheel drive system.

Upon start up of my vehicle I noticed my center display for speed, etc had turned itself to Spanish, but my radio was still in English. My forward collision warning, Lane keep assist, auto emergency braking, and front collision avoidance had all turned themselves off, and my auto park brake had turned itself on. After contacting a dealer they stated they had several complaints and to just turn them back on/off. Having these safety features turn themselves off can provide a fall sense of safety and cause accidents.

The axle broke off suddenly on the front right tire, I was going approximately 60 miles per hour. This happened while driving in the middle of highway, it lead to the rest of tires to break abruptly. I was able to get to the emergency lane safely with last bit of speed before the car came to a complete stop. The engine did not turn off. I had it towed home through my insurance. It has not been serviced yet as it can not be driven or moved at all and I will have to tow it again to a service shop. I will bring it to a service shop to have it looked at once I can have it towed again so I can get a full diagnosis. The car did not making any prior noise, there was no warning on the dashboard it just happened suddenly and abruptly.

Note: The vehicle is totaled, and GEICO Insurance is in possession. A month ago, we received Brake warnings. We brought the vehicle to a mechanic to get checked and it passed. We did not get the warning again. 2 weeks ago, while turning into our driveway, as we were almost stopped, but still in the turn, the vehicle made a noise similar to the Auto Stop/Start feature. The power brakes and steering stopped working (everything was stiff). The car accelerated, and we hit the corner of our garage (because we did not complete the turn into the driveway). The vehicle then hit a tree where it came to rest. The collision avoidance, didn't kick in. Unsure about the final speed of the vehicle, but it was fast enough to deploy the airbags and total the vehicle. There is a police report with the Closter, NJ Police.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving up an incline at 78 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle continued to accelerate while going downhill. There was no warning light illuminated. There was an abnormal sputtering sound coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The brake pedal was firm, and the vehicle continued to accelerate down a steep hill. While approaching a wide left turn, the contact deactivated the cruise control after an audible high-pitched sound came from the vehicle. After deactivating the cruise control, the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and resume normal operation. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

This car has stalled 9 times while I was driving. I live in a very busy, densely populated area where car stalling in the middle of streets can get me badly injured or killed. The car stalls in Drive, while I'm braking, and slowly coasts along about an extra 2 feet before completely stopping. I cannot tell that it has stalled because I can't hear the engine, and the Dash always says "Run" with all the lights lit up. Also, Lane Assistance comes on when no cars are around and the car just starts braking on its own and slows down with loud bells ringing and flashing lights on the inside of the car. I turned Lane Assistance off, but it stills comes on by itself. I'm afraid to drive it, but it's all I have and in this city you need a car to get around because nothing is close to home.

Since 20,000 miles I have had problems with my steering column. I first took it in back in August of 2023 due to a clunking noise coming from my steering wheel. When I first took it in my suspension was tightened but this did not resolve the issue. When I took it back in a week later I was told I needed to replace my rack and pinion. The rack and pinion was replaced but my car still had the faint clunking sound. The clunking came back a year later. At 30,000 miles I was told both of my front axles had failed and both were replaced. The clunking sound still remained but faint. Seven months later the clunking returned once again and much more aggressively (I was out of warranty at this point). I was told one of my axles failed once again prematurely and was replaced after sitting for nearly a month. When I got my car back after nearly 4 weeks i noticed the exact same aggressive clunking noise in my steering column. I returned my car back a week later for a new diagnosis after speaking with the service manager. The report came back stating that both of my lower control arms went bad and needed to be replaced. Also discovered was a bad intermediate shaft causing the clunking noise. The dealership decided to goodwill the service to fix my lower control arms since it was a dangerous situation to drive in and I had been driving my car like this for 20,000 miles since I originally took the car in. The dealership says they can not do anything about the intermediate shaft which could cause me to lose all steering abilities and cause a serious car accident. I no longer feel safe in this car and 100% believe this car is a lemon.

Increased a 2022 Jeep Compass with 25500 Miles and was almost $25.000.00 from Carvana Based out of Atlanta and Tempe AZ. My daughter was so excited as it was delivered by Carvana and about 2 hours after it was delivered to her she drove it onto the highway and as soon as she drove it on the highway at about 50 miles per hour it rattled so violently and pulled right like the vehicle was about to fall apart. So frantically and scared and crying was able to Limp it to the side of the highway and called me and called Carvana & took almost 2 hours to get someone live other than robots chat things. She was told by Carvana to take it to pep boys. With no apology or a bit of concern for her safety said nothing or even apologized. A criminal company. So the service manager said that he could not believe that a so called 150 point inspection that the most important system for safety on a vehicle being the braking system. The rotors were bad and warped. They were never turned or replaced. He said they took a horrible and risky and illegal repair at Carvana with just putting new brake pads on damaged rotors and a badly worn tire and never balanced any of the tires and all were terribly out of balance and alignment was so far off specs he was upset she could even drive it down the street so this is unacceptable and unsafe and I hope this criminal company can be fined and sued and made an example out of. I will be contacting the media in Atlanta, Georgia and Tempe, Arizona as well as the local newspapers & news channels on your side for investigations. Also I will notify the organizations I belong to after serving in Iraq and [XXX] being the reason I could not go see it as it was delivered as they don’t allow test drives or inspection by customer before delivery so we rely on these crooked people to make sure 150 point inspection of nothing. Aggressive premature tire wear on the inner section of the tire tread on a 2022 Jeep Compass (purchased December 2022). Mostly on the front tires, similar slight evidence on rear tires. Alignment was investigated in March 2025 by commercial repair service center (not dealership). Alignment is within factory specifications. Service manager only recommended replacing the front two tires, as there was nothing they could do for the alignment - pictures attached of front tires. Back tires were rotated to front position with new tires mounted in the rear. Five months later front tires now need replaced with mileage at approximately 28,000 miles. Internet search for similar issue has overwhelming number of complaints documented by other owners across the U.S. and Canada. All complaining of replacing tires due to perceived alignment issues from the manufacturer.

I purchased this car in August 2024 used. In April 2025 I took it to the dealer, Mc Peek Dodge in Anaheim for clicking noises while turning either direction and Drivers front side wheel sound like its wobbly. They replaced both half axles. Again the vehicle made the same noise about a month later. I took it back in May. They replaced them again. This year in May I took it back and had it for 2 days and never looked at it. So I called Jeep customer care and they said take it elsewhere. I went to Premiere Jeep in Buena Park. They kept it for a week and replaced the left half axle again. They said the wobbly noise must be from my brake rotor and wanted to charge me $550 to resurface and reinstall the same rotor. I declined since the noise is constant and not when I'm braking. The vehicle is again making the same noise. Especially when I'm turning left. Sounds like my wheel only has one bolt attached and falling off. The clicking noise from the steering is also still present. I'm afraid my tire or suspension is going to fail and cause injury to my family, commuters or myself. Jeep can't seem to fix this suspension and steering issue after 2 years and 3 times having the vehicle in service. This is costing me time from work and the cost of rental cars.

I am having a persistent issue with this vehicle involving the lane keep assist and pedestrian collision sensor. This issue has been present since purchasing the vehicle in December of 2021. I have had it in to two separate dealers a total of 6 times with no solution yet. The issue occurs when traveling down the road above 35 with the active lane assist enabled. Intermittently the vehicle will act as if there is a significant steering misalignment and the vehicle will attempt to pull you out of your lane into other lanes and you have to fight the steering assist in order to not depart your lane. Some times with the issue the car will throw a code stating "Active Lane Management (ALM) Unavailable Service Required" and turn the ALM off. The dash light will stay illuminated until the next key cycle and then disappear. The other issue with this system occurs when taking a 90 degree turn. The vehicle will throw the same error message and turn off the ALM and intermittently with also disable the pedestrian collision avoidance system which will remain off until I go into the settings and turn it back on. The dealerships have replaced the BCM, Steering Wheel, and Steering Wheel control module. There have been no actual solutions provided and this issue remains active. I do not want this to cause an accident one day when the issue occurs and the driver is unable to correct the vehicles mistake.

While stopped at a traffic light, I went to accelerate when the light turned green. The vehicle turns off to save gas when it is at a standstill and will power up when the brake is released. Today at the light I went to release from the brake and it would not move. Instead it started I had to turn on again. Which it took several times before it would start. Several incidents with the screen/safety features. Have had it in for service several times and it is either stated that it needed an update or nothing was found to be wrong. Two times the radio was replaced. I am into the third year of my lease and there are still intermittent problems -- one being that my backup camera alert did not go off and i ended up backing into a car that came out of no where. Also, have gone to back up and pedestrian warning did not work which could have been a real issue if I had not seen the pedestrian. I can get no assistance from Jeep which I have called several times. I personally do not feel that I should have to pay to have the damage repaired from the backup accident when it was caused by a failure from backup assistance. Have incurred many problems through out the entire time I have had the vehicle. Safety features will turn on and off sporadically on their own.

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my 2022 Jeep Compass. I purchased my Jeep Feb 2023. In May 2024 my issues started and have not stopped or been able to be diagnosed by 2 different dealers after 4 times of them having my car. My check engine light started and then the non stop issues with the center screen and dashboard flashing on and off. The screens change showing all errors and warnings.c The radio shuts off whenever it wants. Now the car shuts off when it wants. First time I was at a stop sign, it turned off and would not go back on for almost 2 minutes. The 2nd time I was yielding and it shut down. I had to put the car in park and hit the ignition button a few times before it started. On 1 visit I was told that the mechanic did a computer update but I had to let him take it home that night. When I refused I was told to come get it and they didn't touch it. On the last visit which was 10 days I was told there is nothing wrong with my car. Jeep called me 2 days later and stated "maybe they would give me a small discount for a new one" As a loyal Jeep customer, I expect better service and prompt resolution of the significant safety issues.

UConnect media center does not allow hands free operation via BlueTooth wireless connections, UConnect media center has been upgraded (firmware) to use only 5G wireless, Jeep Compass only has build in 4G for Telematics. to achieve hands free a separate cable needs to be connected to the front USB-C connection so that Apple Car Play is available through the UConnect media center, this was confirmed by the UConnect customer service. The presence of a physical cable is detrimental to the safety of the operator and passenger because it needs to be in the front of the cabin (not the rear). When the cable is disconnected from the apple iPhone the connection of the phone to the media center is severed and if a phone call is received or needs to be made, then operator needs to make or take the call manually. Good evening, My name is [XXX] , I live in Boca Raton, FL, USA, and own a new car: Jeep 2022 Compass Lattitude VIN [XXX] . I report a serious safety hazard that can cause a crash injury or death that needs to be investigated and corrected. On Thursday, November 9 2023 I picked up my car from Arrigo Chrysler Jeep Autodealer located at 2250 FL-7, Margate, FL 33063 where my car was present for 13 (thirteen) days for the following service: a replacement of lost/stolen car keys. On the way from the Autodealer, my car started to push forward and back on the road when I pressed the acceleration pedal. The following signs immediately switched on: "Service Transmission", "Stop/Start System", "Tire pressure". I was able to immediately drive back to the Arrigo Chrysler Jeep Auto dealer. When I was returning an unsafe car, they reported to me: "an issue with the transmission", but have not clarified the code nor explained it to me. This accident on the road put me in fear for my life and I started to feel very anxious. I could not concentrate on the road. As of today, November, 30 my car is still present at the Arrigo Chrysler Jeep Auto dealer at 2250 FL-7, Margate, FL 33063 and I am not aware of what issue put my life and the life of my son in danger. I initiated contact with an auto dealer via email two (2) times: on November, 15 and November, 27, and have never received a response. Instead, today, November 30, 2023 at 5:43 pm I received a voicemail from Enterprise-Rent-A-Car that “I am set up by Arrigo Auto Dealership to return a rental car" that was provided to me on November 9, 2023, at a time when I drop off broken car. An issue with a brand new car that my family is going through and that I am making payments for is not acceptable to me or to any customers in the USA. I request to investigate the serious safety hazard defect of the car Jeep Compass 2022 that put my family's life in danger. Sincerely, [XXX] . When I am stopped at a red light, once the light turns green I go to accelerate and the vehicle stalls. The car is still on but the engine completely shuts off. The only way for the vehicle to move again is by turning the car off and then on again. It is extremely dangerous and I have almost been rear ended because of it. Another issue I am having is when I go to accelerate the car jolts and has a grip to it. It feels like something is pulling the car back and I have to push extra hard on the gas to move the car. This happens a lot when merging on the high way or accelerating on side streets.

Since the last over-the -air (OTA) software update, numerous systems have malfunctioned and then fixed themselves. The exception is the dashboard lighting problem to be addressed by NHTSA Recall # 23V-576, FCA Recall # 88A which also started with the latest update, is continuous, not intermittent. I feel the most serious malfunction is when a turn signal will not turn off, irregardless of manual control/lever use. Overall, my main question / complaint is since all these problems were installed by the OTA update, why can't the fixes also be installed OTA instead of having going to the dealership? Thank you.

- Unsure what is failing. With increasing frequency, 22 Jeep Compass Sport repeatedly stalls (1+ time every few months since OCT ’22) when trying to accelerate after stopping, always (except for one time) engaging auto ebrake, and always requiring a shift to park and engine restart. Engine shuts off, but malfunction is likely related to auto start, as it hasn’t occurred when auto start is already pressed off. Latest failure 28JUN at stop sign near home after a 20-second stop, and auto start turn-off failed after restart. This instance is notable in that: this problem is increasing in frequency, duration of stop was short (unlike usual at 1-3 minute stoplights), this occurs whether or not engine was running long beforehand, and is first time the auto start off-button failed. This is also the shortest interval in between instances, as it occurred last week. Available to inspect. -Safety concerns: always occurs in heavy traffic, always during required acceleration, potentially leading to collision at light/in intersection; always antagonizes other drivers. Has not occurred at high speeds (yet), but have read online claims of similar occurrences in Jeeps at highway speeds, risking fatality. -Dealer service was unable to replicate. Dealer was not denying, but unable to diagnose without replication. No codes indicate problem. Personally was only able to replicate once when deliberately trying in empty parking lot. Reported to Jeep in JAN ‘23, then to dealer service at time of diagnostics. -Problem has only been checked by local dealer service. No crashes (yet) so no police or insurance. -Unlike other reports, no warnings prior to failure for me, only “ebrake on” light after failure. -Jeep fanboy forums say cause is low fluids. Wrong, but even if true no car should shut down and endanger lives when brake fluid or even oil is a little low. New cars leaking like sieves would also be yet another Jeep-centric problem. Wife and I know how to drive and check fluids.

The vehicle makes these noises at times. Seems like the brakes at times then it drives ok. Took it in to the dealership they say nothing is wrong with the vehicle. Went to pick up my daughter. Had music on inside the SUV couldn’t hear the noise seems like. She said, the vehicle was sounding loud before I pulled up to get her. I have two issues with my vehicle. The first is the lighting on the instrument panel. As of February 7, 2023, the center display in my vehicle appears to be stuck in night mode, resulting in an inability to see the fuel gauge or warning lights during daylight hours. I have taken it to my dealer to report the issue, and they said that is a known issue with 2022 jeep compasses but they are not aware of how to fix it. The service technician agreed that it would be hard to deal with and dangerous to drive. I have hence found the recall information on the on the NHTSA site, but when I enter my VIN number, it says there is no recall for my vehicle. The second issue is that the forward collision warning light is constantly on. When I go into the vehicle settings, it sometimes shows that the forward collision system is on, but the warning light is on, so it's unclear to me whether the system is on or not, which is also not a safe situation. I noticed the issue intermittently in 2022 and reported it to my dealer in February of 2023 but they were not able to fix it.
