Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Electrical System18 complaints

The vehicle has experienced repeated high‑voltage battery system failures consistent with the symptoms described in the current open safety recall for this model. The vehicle first displayed a “High Voltage System Fault” warning, loss of A/C cooling, and inability to charge. A dealer confirmed an HV isolation fault and documented an isolation reading of only 38 megaohms, which is far below normal and indicates a dangerous high‑voltage isolation breakdown. They replaced the front inverter (EPIC), the 3‑phase cable, and the high‑voltage cable to the battery. Less than a year later, the same “High Voltage System Fault” warning reappeared and the vehicle again became unable to charge. The dealer stated that “the same repair performed in the front is now needed in the rear,” indicating a second HV isolation failure in another section of the high‑voltage system. This suggests a systemic defect in the high‑voltage battery pack or associated components, consistent with the recall involving thermal overload, internal shorts, and isolation failure. The vehicle is currently subject to an open recall instructing owners to limit charging to 90% and charge only outdoors due to fire risk. The repeated failures create a safety hazard due to potential thermal events, loss of propulsion, and inability to safely charge the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer multiple times. Despite this, the dealer is attempting to charge for repairs that appear directly related to the recall defect, and no permanent remedy has been provided.

NHTSA #11741336

Approximately one year ago, my vehicle experienced a high voltage system failure requiring a repair of approximately $7,000 out of pocket. The recall now identifies a defect in the same system. I am requesting an engineering review to determine whether my prior failure is connected to the defect described in H570/H572 and whether reimbursement is warranted.

The dealer has completed a reduction in battery charging to 90 percent. But has not remedied the possibility of overheating or fire. I now have a vehicle that I can not fully charge, and as per manufacturer instructions cannot charge or even store in a garage. The value of my vehicle has been negatively affected due to these unresolved serious safety concerns. I therefore want Jaguar to fix the defects immediately or buy back the vehicle. My traction battery warranty is still in effect but I'm worried that Jaguar is delaying in hopes that more of the affected cars will run out of warranty. I've inquired about purchasing another vehicle from a different manufacturer but when I tell them I'm trading in my IPace their enthusiasm wanes. Please help. am submitting this complaint regarding a failure by the manufacturer (Jaguar Land Rover) to perform a federally mandated safety recall on my vehicle. •Vehicle: Jaguar I-PACE (U.S. specification) •VIN: [XXX] •Recall: NHTSA Campaign 23V369000 •Issue: Fire risk when parked This recall identifies a serious fire hazard, yet the manufacturer’s authorized representative in Jordan (Mahmoudia Motors) has refused to perform the recall repair. The refusal is based solely on the vehicle having a salvage title, and the issue has been incorrectly classified by Jaguar Land Rover Middle East as a warranty-related matter, which is not accurate. This is a safety recall, not a warranty claim. Key facts: •The vehicle sustained minor damage limited to the front right wheel area and has been professionally repaired •The vehicle is fully operational and structurally intact •Photographic evidence is available showing the minimal nature of the prior damage •The recalled components are present and serviceable I escalated the issue to: •Jaguar Land Rover Middle East (denied) •Jaguar Land Rover North America (no response) As a U.S. citizen owning a U.S.-spec vehicle subject to NHTSA regulation, I am seeking enforcement of recall compliance. ⸻ Safety Concern The manufacturer is knowingly allowing a vehicle with a documented fire risk to remain unrepaired. This creates: •A serious safety hazard •Potential risk of fire, property damage, or injury •A clear case of recall non-compliance ⸻ What You Want NHTSA to Do I am requesting that NHTSA: •Investigate Jaguar Land Rover’s refusal to perform recall 23V369000 •Clarify whether manufacturers can deny recall repairs based on salvage title status •Ensure that the manufacturer complies with its federal safety obligations INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I own a 2020 Jaguar I-Pace. Last year H441 software update had been installed on my car as per NHTSA guidelines. To reach of the right car started giving me trouble. I was getting loud fan noise. A few days later I got a traction battery fault notification.Since then, the car has not been charging more than 72%. I gave the car to the dealership for service. They informed me that the H441 software had identified a battery fault within the high-voltage battery and is preventing the car from charging greater than 72%. A few days later they informed me that model number 14 in the high-voltage battery pack had a fault and needs to be replaced. As per the H441 recall, Jaguar is supposed to replace the battery free of cost. But the dealership is asking me for 6979.60 USD to replace the model. When I asked them why am being charged the amount when Jaguar is supposed to replace the pack at no cost, they informed me that my car is out of warranty. As per the customer notification letter sent from Jaguar in the past, there is no mention of battery warranty being a part of the H441 recall. Currently my car is stuck at the dealership without any response from Jaguar. Please help me with the situation.

NHTSA #11601435

My Jaguar I pace has been at the dealership since September, when I received the original 441 update. After receiving the update it no longer charged and continued to have the battery fault notice. I have been told an additional update was coming and has recently been applied, however that update repaired only the fact that the vehicle is not charging, it did not repair the electrical fault. I have been told multiple times that the vehicle will be receiving a replacement battery module, only to be told that they are waiting on an additional software update that may resolve the issue, however I am now being reissued my vehicle without the recall being repaired, however according to your records my vehicle has been repaired. It has not been repaired and I have been given no timeline on its repair.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The battery pack was damaged. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 99,800.

NHTSA #11726625

From Day 1 of purchase, I have been unable to enter the vehicle or start it easily due to a recurring failure of the Transceiver Part # T4K1278. I have had six (6) dealership visits to rectify this concern. The part (T4K8326 Antenna) has been replaced once when I was not able to open the vehicle after multiple attempts. This did not solve the issue. The last dealership visit indicated the Transceiver (T4K1278) was likely the issue but the service advisor told me that the part was not able to be imported due to inherent failure issues. JLRNA (Jaguar Land Rover of North America) has ignored dealership inquiries as well as my own for the last two years. I have been stuck outside the vehicle so many times I cannot count and I have had multiple instances where I was unable to move in traffic due to this flaw. When trying to start vehicle, the dash warning indicates that the "Smart Key" is not present in the vehicle.

Fuel/Propulsion System5 complaints

I am the owner of a 2020 Jaguar I-PACE, VIN: [INSERT VIN], subject to NHTSA Recall 26V067. The interim software remedy under campaign H570 has been installed on my vehicle, capping the battery charge at 90%. I reside in a designated fire hazard zone in Santa Monica, California, in a densely populated residential area. I contacted NHTSA directly on June 5th 2027 at appx 10:20 AM and was advised that it is still not safe to park the vehicle inside or charge it indoors, even after the H570 software update has been applied. However, the Executive Liaison at Jaguar Land Rover North America's Customer Relationship Center, Judianne Di Leo, stated in writing yesterday that, following the H570 update, all parking and charging precautions are lifted and the vehicle can be operated as normal. This directly contradicts the guidance I received from NHTSA. I submitted a formal repurchase request to [XXX] under the California Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. Jaguar Land Rover North America denied that request in writing, with no explanation or legal basis provided. The permanent remedy under campaign H572 remains open and under development with no committed timeline. I am filing this complaint because I believe Jaguar Land Rover North America is providing customers with safety guidance that contradicts NHTSA's own recall documentation, and because I am unable to safely comply with the parking and charging instructions in a fire hazard zone with no remedy INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA #11742342

This is an urgent update to a safety complaint filed on May 28, 2026 regarding a 2020 Jaguar I-PACE (VIN: [XXX] ). Today, May 29, 2026, a Jaguar Corporate Executive Liaison officially issued a written denial of alternative safe transportation (Case #XXX). The manufacturer explicitly claimed in writing that the vehicle is "safe to drive" and that parking it outside is "entirely my decision," directly contradicting active NHTSA Campaign 26V067000 (H570) documentation. JLR federal filings state that the final physical remedy (H572) is still under development and that instructions to park outside away from structures remain actively in effect. The manufacturer is actively misrepresenting the safety metrics of an uncorrected high-voltage battery fire risk to consumers. Furthermore, because I reside at [XXX] —a high-density neighborhood heavily vulnerable to fire spread and directly adjacent to the active Palisades wildfire zone—complying with the "park outside away from structures" mandate while holding the car is a physical impossibility. JLR Corporate is actively denying necessary safety accommodations, exposing the consumer and public to severe fire liability. NHTSA #11740967

I am filing a complaint regarding a 2020 Jaguar I-PACE with a documented history of repeated high-voltage battery and charging system failures. The vehicle has experienced multiple “traction battery fault” warnings, repeated inability to charge, and required replacement of high-voltage battery modules. Despite these repairs, the same issues have recurred. The vehicle has also had extended periods out of service, including repair durations exceeding 30 days. The vehicle is currently subject to active safety recalls (H570 and H572) involving high-voltage battery thermal risk, with no permanent remedy currently available. The manufacturer has imposed operational limitations, including charging restrictions. Due to the combination of repeated failures and the unresolved safety recall, the vehicle is unreliable, potentially unsafe, and cannot be reasonably sold or traded without significant financial loss. The manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover, has declined to offer a repurchase or meaningful resolution despite being provided with full service history documenting the repeated failures. I am requesting review of this matter as a potential unresolved safety defect and failure of corrective action.

Jaguar Land Rover issued a safety mandate stating my vehicle is a spontaneous fire hazard and must be parked away from structures. However, JLR corporate is actively refusing to provide a safety loaner car or rental accommodation while forcing a weeks-long paperwork audit, leaving me with a known fire hazard in an active California fire zone

NHTSA #11740694

Several battery cells have failed and have required replacement on at least 3 occasions in this vehicle. I believe there is a fire risk and that the affected vin range of recall H484 was too narrow. Please consider widening the range of the recall to include the batch used in this vehicle as they are clearly defective as seen by the disproportionately high failure rate.

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other3 complaints

I am writing to formally request that Jaguar Land Rover North America repurchase my 2020 I-PACE. The vehicle has two unrepaired safety recalls for high-voltage battery thermal overload, including one for which no final remedy is yet available, and it is currently inoperable due to a recurring drive-motor fault that the servicing dealer's own technician has documented as pre-existing. I believe these issues are interrelated and originate in the vehicle's high-voltage electrical system. Confirmed recall status (per NHTSA VIN lookup): - [XXX] / NHTSA 26V-067 — Recall Incomplete. NHTSA's summary states that since installation of the protective software, field evidence shows a risk of thermal overload remains in vehicles with battery packs manufactured through the end of the 2021 model year, which includes this vehicle. - H572 / NHTSA 26V-067 — Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available. Both recalls concern thermal overload in the high-voltage traction battery that may present as smoke or fire, with risk of occupant injury, injury to others, and property damage. Owners are advised to limit charging and park away from structures. Vehicle history and current status: - On XXX, the vehicle was towed to the dealer because it was dead and would not start. - The dealer's technician comments on RO XXX state that fault code P0A40-00 (Drive Motor "A" Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance) "originally occurred prior to any work being performed" at 90,585 km on 31-May-2026, 15:42:35 UTC, "and keeps returning." This places the drive-motor fault at the time the vehicle arrived inoperable, before any service work, and identifies it as recurring. - The technician replaced the 12V start-up battery (which had failed testing and would not hold charge) and cleared faults. After this, the vehicle displayed a flashing "D," would not drive, and would not shift to Park. A separate code, U2109-09, was logged for TCU back-up battery failure. - Jaguar INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I’ve been getting a High Voltage System Fault on my dash. When I search for this online other users mention a fire risk, but when I brought it in to the Jaguar dealership they claimed they couldn’t see the error and sent me back home with the car. The dealership doesn’t seem to be taking this seriously. The error can pop up at any time, sometimes while driving, and sometimes just by pressing the start Aux button without pressing the brake to start the car. The error comes and goes and can go days without showing up but I seem to notice it when the temperature is hot out

I noticed a strong mildew smell in car. So I searched around car to see where smell was coming from noticed foggy moisture on windshield along with water drips. So I did some more searching and noticed front and back floor mats were wet. I pulled them up and carpet underneath was also wet. I took car to dealer in May 2024 and basically they stated they couldn’t find where water was coming from. And did I want to report water damage to my insurance company. I said ofcourse not because unknown water shouldn’t be in car. Also, Informed them I researched several websites on this 2020 Ipace and several consumers have had the same problems and issues. Again they refused to fix and told me to come get car. Ok now in July 24. I get into car was able to reverse out of parking area and then couldn’t put car into drive. So now I’m struck in alley for hours until I finally was able to put in neutral and friend pushed into a grass field. Car was towed to same dealer where now they are now stating the electrical was damaged from water. And again asked me do I want to report to my insurance again my answer was no! Due to this not being my fault and again several consumers have had the same problems. I also Informed them I leased car in 2021 and it’s under a warranty with 20,822 miles. So till this day car is in the shop and they are refusing to complete work and my lease will end 08/13/24.

The air conditioning has failed, even after spending 8k to replace everything it still blows hot air intermittently. Also, there is a gearbox fault detection warning that has presented itself which i believe affects the cars ability to hold still at a stop. Nothing but problems with this car, and auto nation Ft. Lauderdale jaguar has no clue how to fix any of it although i have spent so much money. The car is like a lemon.

Traction battery fault. 2nd occurrence in lifetime of car. Was warned not to park car in the garage due to safety concerns. Replacing batteries 29 and 31 but will take over 2 months for parts to arrive. This issue is under warranty. Older jaguar I pace cars have been recalled due to this issue.

on 12.25.24 I was driving when 4 warning alerts suddenly appeared on my dash: Forward Alert Not Available, ASPC not available, Stability control not available, Autonomous Emergency Braking System not available. I was able to pull over to a parking lot to read the alerts. However, when I tried to reverse out of the parking space to return home, there was no power in reverse. Luckily I was able to slightly roll backwards enough to make the turn in the mostly empty parking lot. If it had been busier I would have been unsuccessful. Once home the vehicle would not go into Park. Luckily I was not on a hill or I feel it would have rolled. The parking/emergency brake did not immediately engage. This has NOT been the first problem I've had with this vehicle and some of these systems. The manufacturer replaced the wiring harness about 6-8 weeks ago for nearly identical problems. Before that other components had to be replaced.

I was stopped at a stoplight, waiting to turn left. The light turned green I slowly engaged the accelerator. All occupants in the car felt the car jolt forward then the fault alarms went off. I was able to continue to drive the car safely and returned home. This is the second time this has happened within the last 30 days. The first time the vehicle bricked on me, it was towed to the Jaguar dealership in Tacoma Washington. There they reset the vehicle defaults disappeared, and it was returned to me. The first time this happened, I was turning into a parking lot and parked in a parking space. At that time the car would not go into park. I turned the vehicle off and turned it back on again. It remained in gear however the vehicle was not moving. It would not let me start it and I was unable to drive it.

Service Brakes2 complaints

Total brake system failure. Vehicle would not stop with two feet applied to the brake pedal. Third time this has happened. Jaguar has previously repaired.

NHTSA #11588132

I was exiting a parking spot and I had my foot on the brake to start the vehicle and again to put the car in reverse. I backed out of my parking spot and turned 90 degrees to exit the parking lot. As I pushed down on the brake to stop and shift to drive, the pad that covers the brake pedal fell off, causing my foot to slip and hit the accelerator. I then struck another vehicle with the back of my car. In looking at the car after the accident, the pad that normally covers the brake pedal was on the floor of the car, between the brake and accelerator. At the body shop, one of the people said there is supposed to be a clip that holds the pad, but it was either broken or missing on my car.

Ok after done charging my Jaguar I Pace I put my car in reverse it made a clicking noise and then had traction battery warning pop up and high voltage battery warning then battery fault in red the car then just pushed itself forward for no reason and almost ran into the charger so I put it in park it stopped clicking. I honestly thought the car was going to start on fire this was after the software interim recall it isn't a fix it's a monitoring system but it didn't fix the problem now look the car is in the shop. I've owned the vehicle for 3 weeks and it's been in the shop 2 times it's absurd. I do not know what is wrong with the car but it has been in the dealership for a little bit and they need to bring in a Ev mechanic which takes time. I just want the car to get fixed and to be honest the only way I will feel safe driving this car might be if they replace the battery if it is that defective if it isn't they need to prove to me that. But the dealership the car is in has been fantastic they provided a loaner and everything I just want my car to be safe to drive. I think and can assume that the problem is my battery was overheating and it was the big battery I think at least one of the dealerships I called assumed that when they heard clicking noise.

Electrical System,Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

When braking the car jumps then brakes, the electrical system flickers sometimes and it won’t go into gear. If not used for a couple days a warning comes on. This has happened 2 times despite buying a new battery is what the dealership said it needed. Now it’s in the shop again for the same thing and not once did they tell me about the recall and now charging me for the software updates from the recall

Electrical System,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

I purchased the vehicle with approximately 56,000 miles. Within 2–3 weeks after purchase a “traction battery fault” warning appeared. I took it to a dealership, which said it was a battery module fault. They replaced defective battery cell under warranty (repair value ~$7,000–8,000). During the same initial period and continuing after the battery repair, the vehicle exhibited intermittent AC charging failures. It would begin Level 2 charging sessions and then terminate them prematurely. This includes both the Level 2 charger I installed new at my home upon purchasing the car, and commercial Level 2 chargers. The home charger would repeatedly show a fault that the vehicle was ending the sessions. Over the following months, the condition progressively worsened from intermittent to near-total loss of AC charging capability. The vehicle can still DC fast charge. Dealer diagnosed the failure as a defective BCCM requiring replacement at a cost of approximately $6,700. This is a known and documented issue: Jaguar has issued TSB SSM75883 (NHTSA Document MC-10227452-0001) addressing I-PACE vehicles unable to charge with BCCM fault code U3000-49, and TSB SFCC Jul20_11 (NHTSA Document MC-10178140-0001) for the 2020 I-PACE specifically. The vehicle cannot be charged at home or at any AC charging station, rendering it effectively inoperable for normal daily use.

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other,Engine1 complaint

High voltage battery is over heating. Constantly getting messages stating "Traction Battery Fault Detected" when charging or when there are days of extreme heats. In addition, when charging, a loud fan like noise is present and car gets really hot. Now my car is stating "Stop Safely Battery Fault detected " right in the middle of me driving and I lost power for about 14 seconds. Power goes in and out. Although my car VIN isn't included in the NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 24V183000 and Jaguar's number for this recall is H484. These vehicles were previously recalled under 23V-369. My car is affected by this same issues if not more

Steering,Electrical System1 complaint

24-volt battery failed, causing the steering column to lock up and all components to malfunction. All doors were locked, and I could not get out of the vehicle. I had to call my husband to let me out through the vehicle's truck manually. This has caused me a great deal of anxiety. There was no indication prior to this situation, and I have reported this issue to the dealer service department. This issue has not been inspected yet.

Steering,Electrical System,Service Brakes1 complaint

Was driving vehicle downhill on a small hill in Palm Springs when multiple error messages appeared in rapid succession on the information display, including 'traction battery fault - safe to drive with caution'. This was immediately followed by "pull over and stop the car" but before I had the chance to do so ALL the systems in the car ceased to operate and all electrical systems shut down. The breaks would not work, the steering would not work. I was still traveling down hill and unable to stop the car. The car continued for approximately 1/2 a mile and went through two stop signs. Fortunately it was early morning and there were no other vehicles , or pedestrians around, if there had been I would have been unable to avoid hitting them. My safety and that of any other driver or pedestrian who could have been on the road was seriously compromised. The car finally came to rest towards the bottom of the hill and I was able to exit the vehicle. Had this happened if I was traveling at speed on a freeway, I hate to contemplate the consequences. This same problem happened about 4 weeks ago, but fortunately the total shut down occurred while the car was stationery in my garage. The dealership towed the truck then and returned it to me a few days later, saying they had resolved all the issues - but clearly not. I have no confidence in the safety of this car. The dealer is collecting the car today to return it to the Jaguar dealership in Rancho Mirage.
