Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP:CONTROL/DRIVE MODULE

NHTSA #24V528000

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Veloster N, 2019-2023 Genesis G70, 2022-2023 Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

Reported consequence: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update engine control module software. In addition, dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning September 9, 2024. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 3, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 262 and 023G.

Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Steering2 complaints

I was driving the speed limit, not going fast, when suddenly the power steering went out, it is an EPS system. I pulled over, cycled the car on and off and it fixed the problem, for now at least. I have seen several other people have this same issue, it needs to be addressed by hyundai.

NHTSA #11696907

My power steering motor failed suddenly while driving. I was on the highway at the time. The resulting steering difficulty endangered myself and everyone else on the roadway. The power steering warning light came on at the same time that the steering failed. I had no prior warning. I took the vehicle to a service center that confirmed the problem and replaced the power steering motor. I had the motor replaced and kept the defective motor in case you would like to inspect it.
