Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

SEAT BELTS: REAR/OTHER:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

NHTSA #25V607000

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The seat belt buckles in the driver, passenger, and second-row window seats may fail to latch.

Reported consequence: Seat belt buckles that fail to latch may not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Passengers are advised to insert the belt firmly into the buckle with a quick and direct motion, pulling on the belt to confirm the seat belt is fully secured, until the recall remedy is performed. Dealers will replace the seat belt buckle assemblies, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning October 23, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated June 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 283. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 13, 2025.

AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN

NHTSA #26V034000

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The side curtain air bags for third-row occupants may deploy improperly in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

Reported consequence: Improper side curtain air bag deployment increases the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install a protective film over the rear window and remove padding, as necessary free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning March 13, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated June 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 292. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 24, 2026.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:FLUID/LUBRICANT:PUMP

NHTSA #25V291000

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Hyundai Palisade vehicles. An insufficient seal on the controller for the electric oil pump may allow moisture to accumulate in the printed circuit board, which can cause an electrical short and result in a fire.

Reported consequence: A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the electric oil pump controller, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 11, 2025. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 278.

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Service Brakes34 complaints

While driving over a bumpy service road to enter a highway, the ABS and traction control systems reacted and applied braking which caused me to have no control of my brakes and I was unable to stop my car and entered the highway without the ability to stop at the stop sign. Fortunately, there were no cars coming, had there been, myself and others could have been injured and my vehicle and others would have been damaged. I have reported this to my dealership, Safford Hyundai-Leesburg VA. I have a recall letter for a ABS system update that I was told could wait and be done when the parts for the seatbelt recall arrived and at that appointment all recalls would be done. I was told it was not a safety issue and it was okay to continue driving. That is far from the truth. There were NO warning lights displayed on the dash. The dealership was aware of what could happen as confirmed by the service department when I called.

NHTSA #11739628

When exiting a parking lot going about 6 miles an hour I approached a stop sign. When I attempted to stop my vehicle the antilock brakes engaged and vehicle would not stop. I pressed harder on the brake but it did nothing. The vehicle finally did stop but I was half a car length into the street. I was terrified. Fortunately there was no oncoming vehicle. This terrifies me because I frequently have my grandchildren it the car, the reason we bought a large vehicle.

NHTSA #11727947

When I was pulling out of my driveway heading out of the neighborhood. Approaching the stop sign I applied my SUV brakes and it fail. I had to push the neutral button to take it out of gear. My current speed was approximately 25 to 30 mph. I was heading towards a ditch and almost crashed into the ditch. Took the car to the dealership. The dealership inspected and the intake vacuum line that controls the brakes fail part was defective. Dealership had to order the part. It took them 20 days to get my SUV repaired and back to me. Part was covered under warranty.

Antilock braking system is malfunctioning. Significant increase in stopping distance, and especially on uneven or wet surfaces. The car shutters and shakes while stopping. We have almost hit a deer, had trouble stopping at intersections, and did not stop in a timely manner while behind another vehicle. General fear knowing if brakes are firmly pressed that the car is unable to stop quickly (as expected with other vehicles).

NHTSA #11703106

I had brought my car in because it feels like the antilock brakes kick in on uneven surfaces. I was told there is no issue. This happens again 2 days ago. I have had it happen where I almost hit the person in front of me, the car will not stop. Dry roads. It’s on bumpy roads, more often is a slight downhill. No lights on dash for antilock brakes coming on.

NHTSA #11699496

I just had at least my 6th occurrence with my new 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition where, while braking at a slow speed, my abs kicked in and wouldn’t stop my car despite pushing the brake to the floor. Finally it abruptly stopped. In all situations, the road surfaces seemed to be slightly uneven or slightly bumpy. Each time this happened, I was traveling very slow and no faster than 10-15 mph. I’ve had my car for less than 5 months and now has happened at least 6 times. I nearly missed rear ending the vehicle in front of me in all cases because the abs was aggressively pulsating but not stopping until almost hitting the vehicle in front of me.

NHTSA #11693627

2025 Palisade 1,700 miles. Brand new. When I approached a stop sign, there was a small pothole just before it. When braking towards this sign, the front left tire traveled over the pothole. The car then shook violently and braking appeared to have halted for a moment. A search online revealed many people having similar issues with potholes/uneven roads and the brakes not functioning during this shaking period. It is suspected this is an antilock brake system. The issue is that it is too sensitive. Needs a recall to retune the sensitivity of this.

NHTSA #11691984

The brakes on the car almost caused an accident where we would have rear ended the car in front of us. We were in a line of cars exiting a gravel parking lot traveling 5-10 mph. I pressed on the brake pedal as the car in front of us began to brake and our antilock brakes engaged and our car continued to travel forward towards the car in front of us. Luckily the car in front of us pulled out onto the road and we did not hit them. Similar issues have happened a handful of times since buying in March of 2025. I am an experienced driver and am familiar with how antilock brakes work and when they should engage, these instances have not been such cases. It seems it will only be a matter of time until this causes accidents. Another instance was when approaching a stop sign and hitting rumble strips in the road. This improper engaging of antilock brakes can very easily lead to car not stopping in time putting myself, my family, and other vehicles traveling on road at risk. I called the dealer and they said there is no issue and the antilock brakes are acting as they should. I have owned several cars over my lifetime and never had antilock brakes engage in these same instances. Upon investigation online, other drivers are experiencing similar issues and Hyundai is denying the issue. I have an appointment scheduled to get it looked at. There were no warnings, messages or other symptoms of the problem. How many people are going to have to report the same issue or how many people are going to have to be hurt before action is taken.

NHTSA #11693298

When driving at a low speed and over an uneven driving surface attempting to brake, the abs system unnecessarily engages and causes the car to lock up and skid instead of braking. This almost caused a car accident where my car would not stop like normal and almost skid into a stationary vehicle with an increased stopping distance until it stopped with a jolt. There is a class action lawsuit on this issue in Ohio and New York.

NHTSA #11694112

It doesn’t brake on uneven surfaces because of ABS sensor issue. This has been reported by many owners of 2023-2025 Hyundai Palisade.

NHTSA #11693206

While gently slowing/braking on warm and dry pavement, the vehicle proceeded over bumpy railroad tracks which seemingly activated the Anti-lock brake system and prohibited the vehicle from stopping effectively. I had to turn the vehicle away from the vehicle stopped ahead of me because my vehicle was not stopping in time and I narrowly avoiding an accident due to this situation. Due to this inappropriate activation of the ABS system, the vehicle took significantly longer to come to a stop, and once the ABS stopped pulsating, the vehicle abruptly stopped, however I already had to turn away from the vehicle in front of me to avoid rear-ending it. This is an exceptionally unsafe situation that will inevitable cause injury or death should someone be driving fast up to the car in front of them and not expect this to occur. This is an extremely unexpected vehicle equipment response on a perfectly dry road without any debris/etc to cause tire slippage. Having done some online research of the issue, this seems to be a frequent problem experienced by other Palisade owners however Hyundai is not doing anything about it. We will have the vehicle inspected when we bring it in for the recent recall that Hyundai identified regarding seatbelts (however no fix has been identified for it as of yet).

NHTSA #11690224

pulling out of a dark parking lot at night, slowing to a stop at the stop sign. The road was bumpy and the abs kicked in for no reason, the brakes started juddering like crazy and the vehicle refused to stop. A loaded pickup was driving on the street and I was headed right in its path. I twice tried releasing the pedal and then reapplying it. the send time finally worked and the car came to a hard stop. All occupants were thrown forward. Seven year old in the back in a booster was complaining that the seat belt hurt her neck from the force of the stop.

NHTSA #11690325

BRAKES WON'T WORK AS EXPECTED ON SLOPES/UNEVEN ROADS

NHTSA #11690599

The ABS system has malfunctioned 4 times now while braking when going over an uneven surface- railroad tracks, uneven older roads in the area. The car will start shaking and lunge forward even with the brake all the way down to floor. This has caused me to almost hit 4 vehicles now. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety, as well as others on the road are put at risk until this issue is fixed. The first dealership i took the vehicle to on 8/28/25 told me there were no issues and couldn't find anything wrong. The problem has since been replicated by the 2nd dealer who has looked at the vehicle 9/22/25. No warnings or messages popped up on the dash at any occurrence. Their response was that they called the manufacturer and explained the issue and they were told that this is normal and is intended to do this- continue to move towards other vehicles when brake is engaged. This does not seem to be correct and appears that there is even a class-action lawsuit for the same issue that was filed early 2025.

NHTSA #11688898

Yesterday while driving over train tracks and braking for a red light in the distance, my brakes pulsed as if I were on ice and my car could not stop. The road conditions were dry, with the temperature outside around 75 degrees. I was driving 20mph max and nearly hit the car in front of us as my brakes would not engage. My daughter and I were both terrified. My car has around 13K miles on it. Since purchasing the car last October I frequently feel the ABS pulse while driving over bumps and braking at the same time. I do believe this could be replicated. I thought it was just a quirk of the car or a computer glitch that occurs when braking on rougher terrain. But yesterday while braking I was unable to stop, nearly causing a collision. Luckily the car ahead moved forward so we avoided a crash. There were no warning lamps or messages. I'm very scared to drive this car now. Please help.

NHTSA #11687063

Was driving down a side street going less than 20 mph, came to a stop sign and attempted to brake. The vehicle did not brake, and upon pressing the brake pedal harder the ABS system activated. Vehicle did not stop for the stop sign and ended up partially in the oncoming traffic lane.

NHTSA #11686698

When going over a bump/rough pavement at a slow speed and applying the brakes, there is a loud grinding noise and vibration on the brake pedal. The vehicle does not brake as fast as normal. This leads to extended braking distance. This has happened three times to us and haven’t been able to recreate. We are taking it in to the dealership to be evaluated.

NHTSA #11685972

On multiple instances at speeds varying for 5mph to 25mph while braking on uneven roads, the ABS system kicked on. The brakes were vibrating and the brake pedal was stiff causing increased brake time. On one occasion it nearly caused a car crash.

NHTSA #11685728

I experienced a partial brake failure as I was attempting to leave a shopping center parking lot. The traffic light was red and there were no cars in front of me. I was traveling at approximately 10-15 mph. As I approached the light, I applied the brakes. The car started to shutter and the car kept moving forward. It’s as if the brakes were being applied off and on rapidly. The car kept moving forward. That’s when I applied a lot of pressure on the brake pedal to try and get the car to stop. It eventually stopped but by then, my vehicle was partly into the intersection. Had another vehicle been in front of me, my vehicle would certainly have made contact. There were no warning lights or other indications that the vehicle was having issues. The vehicle is brand new and has less than 800 miles on the odometer. The road surface was rather smooth; however, vehicles exiting the parking lot must drive over a drain grate. The braking issue happened as I drove over the grate. The grate is slightly lower than the paved road. Please see pictures. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership for evaluation. An internet search shows that other owners have experienced the same issue on 2023-2025 Palisades models.

NHTSA #11686097

ABS braking issue at low speeds on uneven roads. I was coming out of an alley, with fences on both sides. NOT driving fast. It's an alley. At the end of the alley they had one of those speed bump plastic things, not a speed bump, but something to protect COAX/cable being temporarily run. The alley goes to a T and the top of the T is a county road/2 way traffic that is like 60 MPH. Coming to the stop the front felt like it tripped over the bump, then the brake pedal did basically nothing. The ABS was like stuck on and no pumping or standing on the brake helped. I went out into the road and hoped the cross traffic had time to stop.

NHTSA #11684695

Anti-Lock braking system seems to malfunction on certain surfaces causing brakes to not work properly. Vehicle seems like it is not going to stop or stopping seems to take uncomfortably long.

NHTSA #11687178

I have had multiple issues when it comes to braking on uneven roads, going over railroad tracks, and going over speed bumps in parking lots. The vehicle will start shaking erratically and lunge forward into oncoming traffic. No warnings or lights came on either. I have now taken my vehicle in to 3 different dealers to have it inspected and have had the issue replicated several times by a 1 of the dealers. The service manager from the dealer i originally bought the vehicle from refused to even inspect the vehicle and told me the only way they will even look at it was if I brought a video showing the issue of the vehicle lunging forward into oncoming traffic. They also stated that this wasn't a warranty issue and that I would be billed for it. The vehicle is brand brand new 2025 Palisade(2 months old) with 2,000 miles. I was advised to open a case with Hyundai and was then told by the case worker that this is how the vehicle is supposed to operate and there are no issues. After further research to see if anyone else has reported this issue, I found 2 class-action lawsuits filed and over 100 complaints filed with the NHSTA as well. I guess I'm not the only one having this exact issue. This is a serious safety issue and should be addressed.

NHTSA #11694150

When coming to a stop, car will rumble and brake pedal stops working. Seems like abs issue. Doesn’t happen often but happens enough to be unsafe if cannot be replicated to fix it

NHTSA #11682707

Happened to both my wife and I. As we attempt to stop the vehicle (for her at a stop sign, for me in a parking space), the car engages ABS and the car won't stop. Feels like you're trying to brake on ice. Very dangerous, I almost drove into a wall, she almost hit someone. We discovered that they have identified this as a problem and have offered no solution. I was told by the dealer "just tell your wife to go slow over speed bumps," and I corrected him that it seems to have nothing to do with speed bumps or not. And besides, that is not a correction that will make the car safe. Also discovered a class action lawsuit filed on May 9th 2025 for this exact issue. Many many driver reports online.

NHTSA #11688626

While applying the brakes on an uneven surface the brakes chattered/shuddered and shook the vehicle.

NHTSA #11681030

1.A rattle from the brake pedal (pulse, vibration) when braking on rough roads. 2. I am not feeling safe and for my family when the problem occurs. 3. The dealership service center (keating hyundai) stated " Could not recreate concern". 4. I purchased the vehicle new. I did not know if the dealership inspected before it was sold to me. 5. No, there is no warning lamps.

NHTSA #11690981

Any time I apply my brakes on an uneven road, gravel road, dirt road, etc. my antilock brakes enact, and it feels like my brakes grind and shake. The car doesn’t stop but almost shakes instead. This has been happening frequently and consistently when I need to brake on these types of roads.

NHTSA #11680612

The antilock system activates on dry pavement at low speeds, often when decelerating to stop before leaving a parking lot. Braking distance is increased from about 5 expected feet to 12-15 feet. This is scary as it could put the vehicle into cross traffic. It has happened about 1/month so far

NHTSA #11677857

ABS on this vehicle is activating extremely aggressively while driving normally on regular street roads, The car shakes and slides and does not stop until the abs stops doing its thing the distance is very far compared to regular braking. This happened multiple times even when coming to a stop sign i found myself in the middle of the intersection and almost got hit definitely not safe whatsoever. The car is fairly new I'm just worried if its doing this often on regular roads what would it do when it snows. I saw online many people are having this very same issue and Hyundai should fix and do a recall on this matter.

NHTSA #11692222

The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is severely malfunctioning. When driving on stone roads, gravel, or uneven terrain, the brakes either fail to engage properly, over-react, or cause sudden grinding and shaking. This results in an unpredictable stopping distance. The issue creates an immediate risk of collision, particularly when braking on gravel, uneven surfaces, or potentially snow and ice. The vehicle sometimes requires a much longer stopping distance than expected, and at other times it locks up or nearly stops abruptly. This unpredictable braking response could cause rear-end accidents or loss of control. The issue has been reproduced multiple times during my daily commute on stone roads to my job. I have informed the dealer of the problem, though a complete confirmation or resolution has not yet been provided. The dealer has been made aware of the issue, but to my knowledge, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative - only by the dealership themselves. No warning lamps or dashboard messages appear before or during the problem. The symptoms first became noticeable shortly after purchasing the vehicle in July 2025, and they continue to occur regularly whenever the vehicle is driven on stone or uneven terrain. The vehicle was just purchased July 19, 2025 and is currently in the shop at the dealership right now where they are telling me they cannot find an issue.

NHTSA #11685619

ABS activates when pressing the break slightly bumpy or uneven pavement causing a longer then normal stopping distance.

NHTSA #11676454

While turning into a driveway at low speed (approximately 5 mph), I attempted to brake, but the brakes did not respond properly. The vehicle began to bump and resist braking, and failed to stop when expected, causing me to hit a fence. This model is equipped with automatic braking and collision avoidance systems that should have activated, but they failed to engage. This was a concerning failure for a brand-new vehicle equipped with advanced safety systems. Hyundai has not provided any clear answers or support. This appears to be a malfunction in the braking or electronic safety systems, and I believe it poses a serious risk to other drivers and pedestrians

NHTSA #11676739

I am submitting this supplemental complaint regarding a repeated and dangerous brake failure in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade. This is a follow-up to my original complaint submitted in July 2025. On multiple occasions while driving at low speeds (around 5 mph), including turning into driveways or approaching intersections, the braking system failed to respond properly. The brake pedal felt like it lost connection — similar to how a bike slips when its brake fails. The vehicle kept moving forward even while I was applying the brake. This nearly caused accidents several times. I believe the automatic emergency braking system (AEB) also failed to engage. One incident caused me to hit a fence, resulting in a small dent. Hyundai is now refusing to repair the safety systems under warranty because of that dent — even though the dent was a result of the brake malfunction. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai service center, and they refused to cover the issue under warranty or provide a loaner vehicle, leaving me to drive a potentially dangerous car. I also want to note that I have seen multiple recent NHTSA complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners describing similar brake issues. This suggests a wider pattern of brake failure, which must be urgently investigated before someone is seriously injured or worse. Hyundai has failed to properly investigate the issue or assist me in any meaningful way. This vehicle is still under warranty, and I am unable to safely use it while they delay responsibility.

Seat Belts18 complaints

This is in relation to the recall 25V607000 issued September 19, 2025. My and my children's safety has been put at risk by Hyundai's failure to obtain replacement parts to fix this recall. They have no date expected for the requisite parts, and I am driving with the anxiety that the seatbelts could malfunction at any time and endanger me and my family.

NHTSA #11745232

NHTSA recall number 25V-607. I've been trying to have this recall service performed but have been notified since NOVEMBER 2025 the parts are on backorder. Was scheduled to have the recall service performed today and upon arrival was informed that the parts were not available after being told that the parts were in?????? 6 months is a reasonable amount of time to has this performed, why is Hyundai slow walking this safety issue?

NHTSA #11741797

I was driving my vehicle on 5/24/26 and my daughter’s seatbelt came unlatched while driving. The sensor went off and she was quickly able to belt it back. However, I do not feel safe transporting my children in this vehicle and do not have extra seats due to the third row recall as well.

They are failing to repair the recall from the seat belts. The new estimate is September 2026 and I am waiting for this recall since last year 2025

NHTSA #11737570

To Whom It May Concern: I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety defect involving the second-row driver-side seat belt in my Hyundai Palisade. I purchased this vehicle new on December 11, 2025, after being informed that the applicable seat belt recall repair had already been completed by the dealership on December 4, 2025. Despite the recall repair being performed prior to sale, the second-row driver-side seat belt continues to malfunction. On multiple occasions while the vehicle has been in motion, the seat belt has unexpectedly unlatched on its own while occupied by a passenger. This creates a severe safety hazard and leaves the passenger completely unprotected during travel. The issue has occurred repeatedly and has made the second-row driver-side seat unsafe to use. This defect is especially concerning because the vehicle was sold as repaired and safe following completion of the recall campaign. The continued failure of the seat belt system raises concerns that the recall remedy may be ineffective or incomplete. I am requesting that Hyundai Motor America and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this matter immediately. I also request that Hyundai provide a permanent repair solution and determine whether additional Hyundai Palisade vehicles may still be experiencing similar seat belt latch failures even after recall service has been completed. Vehicle Information: •Year/Model: Hyundai Palisade •VIN: [XXX] •Purchase Date: [XXX] •Recall Repair Completion Date: December 4, 2025 •Selling Dealer: Holler Hyundai 1150 N Orlando Ave Winter Park FL 32789 •Current Mileage: 8,169 I am extremely concerned about the safety of my passengers and believe this defect presents a significant risk of injury in the event of sudden braking or a collision. Please contact me regarding next steps and investigation of this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V607000 (Seat Belts); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted; however, parts for the repair were on back order, and there was no loaner vehicle available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

NHTSA #11728519

I am submitting this formal complaint regarding an active safety recall affecting the seat belt system of my 2025 Hyundai Palisade XRT. Hyundai has acknowledged the existence of the defect. However, I was informed by a Hyundai customer service representative [XXX] ), under case number XXX, that there is currently no available remedy or repair for this recall. This situation is deeply concerning, as it involves a critical safety component intended to protect occupants in the event of a collision. Due to the nature of this defect, I do not feel safe operating the vehicle under any circumstances. Despite the acknowledged safety risk, Hyundai has not provided any adequate interim solution, such as a replacement vehicle or transportation assistance, leaving me effectively unable to safely use the vehicle. This places me in an unreasonable and unsafe position, as I am left with a vehicle that poses a potential risk to my safety without any available corrective action. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this matter and take appropriate action to ensure that Hyundai provides a timely and effective remedy, as well as appropriate support to affected consumers. Seat belt in the 2nd row became spontaneously unbuckled while driving. Seat belt was attached to my daughter's car seat and was snug and latched for several weeks before it spontaneously came undone while driving on the highway.

NHTSA #11724300

On December 15, 2025 I brought my vehicle in to McDonald Hyundai in Highlands Ranch, CO for a recall and was told the seatbelt parts would need to be ordered for Hyundai recall 283. I was told the seatbelt recall parts would take 2 weeks to arrive. January 15 I was notified by the dealership that the parts were in stock and ready to schedule. However, when I attempted to schedule the service, I was told the parts for my vehicle had been given to another customer. I was also told all seatbelt parts are now backordered with “no ETA” and that I must personally call every two weeks to check on the inventory status of recall parts in the service department at McDonald Hyundai. I asked the service advisor (Bo) for the service manager’s contact information on 3 different occasions and he refused to provide the service manager’s contact information every single time. I am still driving with my children daily under an active seatbelt recall more than 6 weeks after I was told my recall parts were ready to install.

NHTSA #11720106

I was in a car accident on the freeway. Hit from behind. Non of the seat belts locked from the shoulder. Me and my 4 kids all suffered whiplash. The seat belt failed to restrain.

NHTSA #11712935

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V607000 (Seat Belts); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side seat belt assembly failed to latch on the initial attempt and required a second attempt to forcefully secure the seat belt buckle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was inspected. The dealer informed the contact that the recall repair could not be performed because the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.

NHTSA #11721362

I am writing to formally report Hyundai’s failure to remedy Safety Recall 25V607 involving defective first and second-row seatbelts in our 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The recall was issued in September 2025 and stated no remedy was yet available but the vehicle remained safe if belts were checked after fastening. In December 2025, the front passenger seatbelt in our vehicle began unlatching while driving at highway speeds, even after confirming proper engagement as instructed by Hyundai. We have repeatedly contacted Hyundai of 110 (Farmingdale, NY) regarding remedy availability. A remedy became available in early December, and we were put on the dealership's list to order parts from Hyundai directly on December 30, but the parts still continue to be on backorder. We have minor children who must now rely on seatbelt-based car seat installation due to weight limits on LATCH. This is our only vehicle and it is virtually unusable at this point because I cannot in good conscience put my child in a car seat secured by a defective seatbelt. Given the documented malfunction of the seatbelt system, we are extremely concerned about the continued safety of this vehicle. Hyundai has not offered: - A loaner vehicle - A repurchase - A timeline for remedy We respectfully request investigation into Hyundai’s delay in remedying this federally mandated safety recall.

Vechile bought new less than 6 months ago. Seat belt of passenger side does not function properly. Federally seat belts required to operate vehicle. I have small children to buckle into this seat. Safety concern since death could happen. Attempted to have dealer fix 3 times within the month and unable. Stop sale has been issued now on this vehicle. Completely unsafe.

This complaint is a follow-up update to my previously filed complaint, NHTSA Complaint No. 11726321, filed on March 23, 2026, regarding two open safety recalls on my 2025 Hyundai Palisade SEL Premium, VIN [XXX] . I am filing this updated complaint to report that a SECOND failed repair attempt has now occurred on the seat belt recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V607 / Hyundai Recall No. 283). UPDATED STATUS OF SEAT BELT RECALL (25V607): First repair attempt: January 19, 2026 at Liberty Hyundai, Mahwah NJ (Invoice No. [XXX). Technician confirmed open recall. No correction made. Parts specially ordered (RC283-S8500-QQH Seat Belt Buckle Kit). Parts were not available. Second repair attempt: April 2026 at my servicing Hyundai dealer. Technician again confirmed open recall. Seat belt buckle parts remain on order and are still not available. No correction made. Two documented failed repair attempts now on record. UPDATED STATUS OF AIRBAG RECALL (26V034): As of the date of this complaint, Hyundai has still not developed a remedy for the third row airbag FMVSS 226 violation. No repair has been attempted or completed because no fix exists. This recall remains completely unresolved. SUMMARY: I purchased this vehicle on [XXX] from Maxon Hyundai, Union NJ. This is my primary and only family vehicle. I have children who regularly use the third row. After two separate dealer visits spanning more than three months, neither safety recall has been repaired. Hyundai has been unable to provide parts for the seat belt recall and has no remedy developed for the airbag recall. I am formally requesting that NHTSA: 1. Note this updated repair history in connection with Complaint No. 11726321 2. Escalate pressure on Hyundai Motor America to expedite parts availability for Recall 25V607 3. Continue monitoring Hyundai's progress on developing a remedy for Recall 26V034 (FMVSS 226 violation) 4. Consider whether Hyundai's ongoing failure to remedy these safety defects warrants INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

UNKNOWN I am making complaint of the 3rd row airbags not passing federal inspection. I have not been in accident, but at this point I am very scared to drive my vehicle. I am trying to work with Hyundai Motor Company Corporate to find another solution, since there is no remedy available and they do not know when it will be available. I was told to not put anyone in the back seat, but I purchased the vehicle for 3 rows because I need 3 rows for my family. I feel that myself, and others, were mislead when purchasing or leasing any 2020-2025 Hyundai Palisade. If we would of have known, we would of never purchased the vehicle.

My 2025 Hyundai Palisade has active safety recalls with no remedy available: Recall 283 (seatbelt – 1st and 2nd row) Recall 292 (third-row ejection mitigation) I have three young children (Ages [XXX] , [XXX] , and a [XXX] ) in car seats and cannot avoid using the affected seating positions, including the third row. I contacted Hyundai Motor America and my dealership and was advised: there is no remedy available, there are no safety protocols or usage guidelines, there is no next step or interim solution. I am concerned because my children are regularly using seating positions impacted by these recalls, and I have not been provided guidance on safe operation in the meantime. I am the owner of a 2025 Hyundai Palisade SEL Premium, purchased in April 2025, currently at approximately 19,000 miles. I am writing to formally report two open safety recalls on this vehicle for which no remedy is currently available: 1. THIRD-ROW SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG RECALL: Affecting approximately 568,576 Hyundai Palisade vehicles (model years 2020–2025). The third-row side curtain airbags may not deploy correctly during a rollover, failing to prevent passenger ejection. This defect is a documented violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 226. As of the date of this complaint, Hyundai has not developed a fix. Owner notification letters are expected in late March 2026. In the interim, owners have been advised to avoid using the third row. 2. SEAT BELT RECALL: A separate seat belt recall is also open on this vehicle. I ordered the parts for this repair months ago and am still waiting. No repair has been completed to date. As a result, I am driving a brand-new vehicle with two unresolved safety defects and no timeline for repair on either. Because I have children who regularly occupy the third row, I am being forced to either expose them to a known safety risk or stop using the vehicle as intended. I am formally requesting that NHTSA: - Investigate the urgency of Hyundai's timeline for developing a remedy - Review whether Hyundai's interim guidance to owners is adequate given the severity of the FMVSS 226 violation - Consider whether a 'do not use third row' advisory should be formally and officially issued to all affected owners I purchased this vehicle in good faith as a family SUV. The inability to safely use the third row renders it unfit for its intended purpose. I urge NHTSA to apply pressure on Hyundai to expedite a remedy. My 2025 Hyundai Palisade has multiple open safety recalls that have not been repaired and make the vehicle unsafe to operate. The dealership confirmed safety recalls effect my vehicle and my car is currently at the dealership since April 3rd. The first recall 283, involves the seat belts in the 1st and 2nd rows. Parts were ordered on January 20, 2026, but the repair has still not been completed after several months. The second issue is Recall 292 involving the ejection mitigation system and defective 3rd row airbags. This defect can allow rear passengers to be ejected from the vehicle during a crash. I have been informed that there is currently no remedy available for this recall. Hyundai has failed to provide a repair within a reasonable time, and one of the defects has no available fix. I do not feel safe transporting my family in this vehicle due to these unresolved serious safety issues. Hyundai provided me a 2024 Sante Fe loaner vehicle in which is currently under safety recall for seatbelts and has no other loaners available for me. Hyundai USA, case manager [XXX] , case #XXX has denied buy back without explanation. My vehicle is currently not drivable, unsafe, and no remedy available. I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade vin [XXX] on August 13,2025. My car was parked in my driveway on May 15 2025. During the day I walked past it and saw no crack in the windshield. The crack started in the middle of the windshield at the top, ran down the windshield and stopped in the middle of the windshield. The current no. 226 EJECTION MITIGATION RECALL has me scared to drive the vehicle for it's intended use as a Family car transporting 7 people which are all children. The fix from the manufacturer/dealership is taking to long. We are lucky we have not been in an accident. I believed my Family was safe in this vehicle but now know we are not. What a waste of money I have borrowed for this car. Paying on something that is not safe and how I risked my grandbabys possibly being ejected from my vehicle if there was to be an accident.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing regarding multiple recalls affecting my 2025 Hyundai Palisade, specifically related to the electrical harness and ongoing safety concerns. Since purchasing the vehicle from a Hyundai dealership in [XXX] , I have experienced repeated issues. Initially, dashboard lights activated randomly while driving, followed by connectivity problems and a malfunctioning trunk. In February, the vehicle required full disassembly to replace the electrical harness, which disrupted a planned family trip. I was provided a Hyundai Elantra loaner, which was not suitable for my family of five, causing a two-week inconvenience. Additionally, the dealership failed to complete a scheduled oil change, requiring me to return. Shortly after, I received another recall notice involving third-row safety concerns during a rollover. Given that a fatality has already been associated with this issue, I am extremely concerned about the safety of this vehicle, especially as I transport my three young children daily. The vehicle’s multiple recalls, safety risks, and extensive repairs have significantly reduced its value and reliability. I am also currently waiting on an airbag cap, but was informed on March 27, 2026, that the part received was incorrect, causing further delays. This has been my first Hyundai purchase, and it has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. The vehicle no longer feels new and appears to be unreliable due to ongoing defects. As of March 28, 2026, I am requesting the option to trade in the vehicle at the original purchase price or receive appropriate compensation. The vehicle has under 10,000 miles, and I am still making payments on a vehicle that does not meet multiple Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including #226 Ejection Mitigation. I would like to resolve this matter as soon as possible and transition into a safe, reliable vehicle. My son and I were driving down the interstate and all of a sudden we heard a loud boom. It felt like something hit the vehicle, but it was more like an explosion. I thought possibly a rock or something hit the back of my car, but that didn’t make any sense. There were no vehicles or bridges around us. I was two minutes from home so I drove home and when I pulled in the driveway, I heard a cracking noise. When I parked, we got out to investigate and determined that the cracking was coming from the moon roof. It was actively cracking. This is exactly what has happened to Palisades in the past with the exploding sunroof/moonroof.

It happened on the way home from Manhattan [from Mount Sinai Hospital], near the ramp to 9W. The road was freshly milled (top layer removed before repaving), and I was going downhill. Traffic ahead was slowing, I had plenty of room, and it wasn’t even a sudden stop — I was just trying to gradually slow down when the car failed to respond properly. This isn’t some one-off. The behavior matches what I’ve seen others report: at low speeds, on rough or uneven surface, the ABS seems to engage when it shouldn’t, and instead of stopping, the car jerks forward. I’ve been able to replicate it a few times now — I more or less can sense when it might happen. To make matters worse, my pregnant wife was in the passenger seat when this happened. She injured her left shoulder during the crash, and the very next day she had to undergo an emergency C-section. Because her lower body was numbed for surgery, the pain in her shoulder made the whole experience much harder for her [btw, Mother and Baby are perfectly fine, thanks god]. This has left me shaken that a family SUV can have such a dangerous defect on the road. There is a lawsuit already, but this needs to be taken very seriously. https://www.classaction.org/news/2023-2025-hyundai-palisade-vehicles-plagued-by-brake-problems-class-action-suit-claims

Anytime driving on a bumpy road the brakes do not work correctly. When driving on a bumpy road I can feel the abs take over and I lose control over braking. Eventually I have to slam on the brakes or the computer does. Feels extremely unsafe since there are lots of brick roads around me. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle. I just researched this issue and it seems to be known a issue.

In multiple instances, the ABS is engaging on uneven surfaces when it should not. It occurs when pulling into my driveway and just happened this morning in the car drop off line. I was going no more than 5mph when the car in front of me stopped. I hit the brakes and the ABS engaged (along with the crash alarm) causing a skid. No accident occurred, but it was unsettling.

A Class action lawsuit has been filed for this Issue which Hyundai refuses to acknowledge our 2025 Palisade is having this issue on a regular basis. When it occurs the car becomes very difficult to stop we feel as do the lawyers in the class action in New York California and Ohio that this is a serious safety situation. We have had the car to the dealer and as previous owners have stated it is not acknowledged.

NHTSA #11690700

My car has had numerous issue. The first issue was with the front end collision warning system. I had a sensor warning come on twice saying it may not be in use, but then it falsely predicted a collision resulting in the car slamming on the brakes when nothing was there. I almost go rear-ended as a result. The dealer found that the radar system was completely broken and the sensor was facing to the side instead of the front. I bought the car brand new and there was no evidence of damage and it has never been explained how it got damaged. They replaced the system and that was resolved, but the sensors continue acting strange. It's now turning on the camera and telling me to check my surroundings when I'm stopped at a red light. There is nothing happening around me. The problem that is ongoing and has yet to be resolved is my brakes. It's an intermittent issue, but when I go over rough surfaces and hit the brakes I get a crunching/grinding noise that sounds like it's grinding rocks. This happens intermittently. The dealer was eventually able to replicate it and is saying it's the ABS system and that it's normal, but cannot do anything to repair it. However, it is not normal for ABS to come on going over a bump and it shouldn't sound like that. When this happens, the brakes don't seem to respond properly and as quickly as it should. I have not gotten any warning lights for the brake issue. It does put the parking brake on at times for no reason when I'm on a completely flat surface. The car was out of service for 21 days in a month and a half of owning it. I have a car that I don't feel safe in and I don't trust what it's going to do. It's problem after problem and corporate Hyundai doesn't want to do anything about it.

While driving on the highway using the adaptive cruise control feature in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade, the vehicle suddenly and aggressively braked for no reason — even though there was no vehicle or obstruction ahead. This happened in normal highway traffic and caused vehicles behind me to brake suddenly, putting me at extreme risk of a rear-end collision. It was a very dangerous and terrifying experience that made me unable to use the cruise control feature since. For a brand-new vehicle with advanced safety features, this type of malfunction is completely unacceptable. Hyundai has not provided a proper explanation or resolution. This poses a serious ongoing safety risk to myself and others on the road and must be investigated.

And the 2nd recall relates to the use of 3 row seats. Please see the rental agreement as a proof. I know the same company in Orlando was under federal investigation for the same issue. To my knowledge, rental companies are prohibited from renting cars with open recalls by the federal law. Please investigate this company. The powered operation of the third row in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade fails to stop if anything or anyone is sitting or placed on the third row seat. There has been a report of a [XXX] death with respect to this operation already in Ohio and other injuries across the nation. Hyundai has already placed a stop sell on this vehicle but there are many other vehicles on the road at the moment that can cause additional deaths. There is no requirement to stop driving this vehicle by the NHTSA and it is giving Hyundai 18 months to find and test a remedy. We personally tested the operation with someone in the third row seat and the seat failed to stop closing when the rear compartment button was pressed. As an adult I felt that I would have been crushed if my partner did not reverse the operation. A child in that seat would have been killed. That button can easily be pressed by anything stored in the rear compartment while the vehicle is being driven. We leased our vehicle to carry grandchildren but now cannot use it due to the safety risks. Continuing to drive these vehicle is a serious risk of death and injury and the NHTSA should be protecting the consumers who still have these vehicles on the road. Allegedly reported: 1 death (as reported to NHTSA). NHTSA #11728376

The seat reclining system. When I clicked to fold the seats, it doesn’t detect if someone is sitting there so it folds in on the person and they get stuck on the person. The seat keeps trying to fold even if a child is in the seat or not. So it folds over and closes in on the child.

While sitting in the third row and attempting to grab something, my husband accidentally pushed the fold buttons and seats began to close on me. It continued to close until my husband was able to push the button to reverse it. It did not register there was a person in the way and I could’ve been seriously injured if he was not there

I was driving my 2025 Hyundai Palisade Night Edition on a rural highway at 55mph 245/50R20 102V when I heard a boom. The right front tire sidewall had blown out in 2 spots. I put the spare on and redrove the section where the tire blew out and the highway had no potholes or debris that would have caused any issue.

Steering,Suspension,Service Brakes3 complaints

I was driving slowly, about 5 mph, and was pulling over on a residential street to park on the street, and my Hyundai started shaking…the steering wheel and car were shaking and the brakes weren’t working. I nearly rear ended a car full of people. It did eventually a stop and the whole thing lasted maybe 10 seconds but it was terrifying. I had it towed to the dealership and they can’t seem to duplicate it.

Braking on a low speeds when the road changes from smooth to slightly rough or bumpy the car acts as if ABS is kicking on. The stuttering brakes can be felt on the brake pedal and the steering shakes vigorously.

NHTSA #11680947

The vehicle shakes violently when applying the brakes over any bump or pothole at slow speeds. This also extends the stopping distance for the car. It has no warning lights. This is a brand new car with only 1200 miles. The problem was able to be confirmed by the dealer but no fix yet.

The vehicle has roughly 8500 miles on it in the first year. We have experienced multiple engine misfires due to bad ignition coils on cylinders 3 & 4. The first incident was in July 2025, and the second was in November 2025. The first incident was on the freeway, going 75mph, and the second was on a city road, going 35mph. The first incident, I brought the vehicle to the dealership, and they replaced the coil, cleaned the cylinder, and covered everything under warranty. The dealership told me this is common and Hyundai will not replace the remaining coils until they misfire, even though the dealership knows the coils do not perform well in colder weather. I called corporate regarding this issue, and they confirmed that they will not replace the remaining coils, although a mechanic at a dealership they work with has already confirmed they regularly misfire. The Hyundai call center refuses to reach out to the dealership to confirm, will not provide written documentation, and will not provide me with more solutions for their defective vehicle. I asked them if they could provide me with written confirmation that the vehicle was safe, but they could not.

Seats,Unknown Or Other2 complaints

The third-row seats in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade are closing fully even when there are clear obstructions in the seat path. I tested this multiple times — including with case of water — and the seats did not stop, reverse, or provide any safety resistance. They closed completely each time. I am aware this exact issue has already been identified and recalled in the 2026 Palisade, which raises major concerns about whether the same defect exists in the 2025 model. After repeating the test with several different objects and getting the same dangerous result, I am extremely alarmed. This is a critical safety hazard for anyone seated in the third row. There has already been at least one reported death related to this malfunction, and knowing what I know now, I do not feel safe allowing anyone to sit in that row until this is investigated and resolved. This issue requires immediate attention and action. The risk is serious, foreseeable, and potentially fatal. I am requesting that Hyundai address this as a priority before someone else is injured.

NHTSA #11728270

Brandon Hyundai sold me this vehicle with an active stop sale. On February 20, 2026, I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade from the dealership. After taking delivery of the vehicle, I discovered that the VIN associated with the vehicle was subject to an active manufacturer stop-sale related to a safety recall for which no remedy was available at the time of delivery. This critical information was not disclosed to me during the sales process and was not reflected in any documentation provided at closing, including the buyer’s order or “We Owe” form. As a consumer, I relied on the dealership to comply with applicable safety requirements and to be transparent about the condition and status of the vehicle being sold. Upon discovering the stop-sale status, I returned to the dealership the very next day, on Saturday February 21, 2026, to address the issue. During that visit, I spoke with both the Sales Manager and the Finance Manager. At that time, I was told that there was nothing that could be done because I had already signed the contract and “the ink was dry.” The seriousness of the concern I raised was initially dismissed. As I am sure you know, the contract should be void when selling a vehicle in violation of the law. Both of these managers promised me that the vehicle had undergone a safety check prior to delivery, which is not true, as later discussed. It was not until the following Monday morning, February 23, 2026, after escalating the issue again and speaking with another manager, that the dealership agreed to reverse the transaction. On that second attempt, the deal was unwound and my trade-in vehicle and down payment were returned to me. While I acknowledge that the dealership ultimately corrected the situation, the fact remains that the vehicle should never have been delivered to a consumer while under an active stop-sale condition. The initial refusal to address the issue when it was first raised with management was deeply concerning.

Seat Belts,Seats,Unknown Or Other2 complaints

My 2025 Hyundai Palisade is currently subject to multiple safety recalls affecting occupant safety. These include a recall involving seat belt buckle assemblies in the front and second row seating positions, as well as a separate recall involving the third-row seating area where the vehicle may not meet federal safety standards for occupant protection and may increase the risk of injury during a rollover crash. At this time, there is no available remedy for the third-row safety recall. Although no crash or injury has occurred, I regularly transport my children in this vehicle and am concerned about operating a vehicle that has been identified as having an increased risk of injury in a rollover crash without any available fix. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I have scheduled a dealership appointment to address the recalls that currently have available remedies. However, the primary safety concern remains unresolved due to the lack of a repair for the third-row issue. This situation raises concerns about occupant safety and the ability to safely transport passengers.

NHTSA #11727715

I am reporting Hyundai Motor America’s failure to remedy two active safety recalls on my 2025 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [XXX] ) within a reasonable timeframe, despite multiple attempts to have the vehicle repaired. My vehicle has two open safety recalls involving critical occupant protection systems, including seat belt buckle assemblies that may fail to latch properly and a third-row occupant safety defect that increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash or rollover. On October 23, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership specifically to have the recall defects repaired. At the time of drop-off, I clearly informed the dealership that the purpose of the visit was for recall repairs. However, the dealership labeled the visit as a “maintenance appointment” instead of properly documenting it as a recall repair visit. The recall defects were not repaired. I returned to the Hyundai dealership again on February 18, 2026, after being promised that the recall repairs would be completed. Once again, Hyundai failed to repair the safety defects, and the recalls remain unresolved. It is now February 20, 2026, more than four months since I first presented the vehicle for recall repair, and Hyundai has failed to remedy these critical safety defects or provide a clear timeline for repair. These defects involve essential safety systems, including seat belts and third-row occupant protection. I have four children who regularly occupy the rear seating areas, and I am deeply concerned about their safety. Hyundai’s failure to repair these safety recalls has placed my family at risk. Because Hyundai has failed to repair the vehicle within a reasonable timeframe, I am requesting NHTSA investigation and assistance. I am also requesting that Hyundai provide trade assistance, replacement, or buyback so that I can obtain a safe vehicle for my family, at no cost to me, due to Hyundai’s inability to remedy these safety defects. XXX - approx 9:00pm - departed Copper and Sage restaurant enroute to the WigWam. After about 1/2 mile at 30-35mph, I slowed down to make a right turn. After completing the turn I pressed the accelerator to continue and the Palisade had absolutely no power. I pressed the pedal to the floor with no success. I was finally forced to pull over and stop the vehicle and place it in park. After doing so, the Palisade was able to return to operation with the pedal and for fear of another incident we drove home. 2nd Incident - 2 Mar 2026 - approx 1200pm. We were traveling west on XXX from [XXX] to [XXX] and began the ascent through the mountains going west towards XXX. After experiencing a steady grade upward approximately 6-7% at speed of 55-60mph, I used the hand shift paddle to downshift one gear to assist in the upward climb. Upon doing so, the Palisade once again died with no power at all. I pushed the accelerator pedal to the floor with no success of power. This incident could have been devastating as we were in the far left lane with many other vehicles behind us. I had no place to pull over to the left so I began to make my way to the right shoulder over 3 lanes very slowly under only previous velocity motion. We narrowly avoided being hit from behind numerous times and finally made it over to the right shoulder. After finally stopping the Palisade, I put the vehicle in park and it returned to operation with the pedal once again. We then carefully pulled out off the shoulder and the Palisade operated normally until we arrived at our destination. Component/System Failed: The rear suspension strut assembly on the passenger side fully dislodged while driving at approximately 30 mph. The vehicle and damaged component are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The sudden failure caused the rear of the vehicle to drop and become unstable, creating a loss of control risk to myself and nearby drivers. Reproduction/Confirmation: The issue has not been reproduced but was confirmed by the Hyundai dealership upon inspection. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer’s service department and corporate case team. Warning Signs: No warning lights, error messages, or abnormal noises were present prior to the failure. The dealership classified the failure as impact damage, claiming an external force caused the rear strut to detach, which excludes it from warranty coverage. However, my insurance inspection found no evidence of significant impact or collision, noting only minimal scuffing and no structural deformation. This indicates the issue was more consistent with a mechanical or structural defect rather than road damage.

Service Brakes,Back Over Prevention,Forward Collision Avoidance2 complaints

A dangerous and unpredictable braking issue has plagued my brand-new SUV (under 5,000 miles). On multiple occasions, the brakes have engaged suddenly and without warning while driving, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly in the middle of the road. This creates a hazardous situation with the potential for rear-end collisions, putting my family at risk and causing back pain to my passengers. The same problem also occurs when parking. The dealership requires a five-day service appointment, but the lack of any pre-warning lamps or indicators makes this issue especially concerning.

. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ---------- Nothing failed but the lane assist feature forces the car to drive hugging the left lane and not on the center of the road. This can be very dangerous on a freeway when passing big wide trucks. If you use the cruise control this feature automatically turns itself on. . How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? ------ When the lane assist is turned on the car drives close to the left line and not on the center of the road and this could be very dangerous when passing large wide vehicles or those with wide trailers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? ------------ Yes. I took it to the dealer and they said that's how the car was designed and there is nothing they can do. They asked me to contact the Hyundai Customer Affairs. I opened a case number with Hyundai Customer Affairs. They said that if the dealer did not find a problem then there is nothing they can do. I am stuck with the problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? ------------------- See above. When I googled to see if other people are complaining about the issue, I found out that there are other people complaining but no formal complaint has been put forward. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? ------------ The issue has existed from the dealer. Air Bags,Seat Belts,Seats1 complaint

Vehicle is a 2025 Hyundai Palisade subject to Hyundai Recall 292, concerning improper deployment of the third-row side curtain air bags in a crash, in noncompliance with FMVSS 226 (Ejection Mitigation). Per Hyundai's recall notice, the remedy is still under development and no repair is currently available. The manufacturer has advised owners to continue driving while awaiting the remedy. The safety concern is significant because an infant is regularly transported in the third row of this vehicle. In a side-impact crash, improper side curtain air bag deployment increases the risk of injury or occupant ejection — a risk that falls directly on the person seated in the affected row. With no remedy available, owners have no means to mitigate this risk other than ceasing to use the third row entirely, which is not a reasonable long-term solution for a three-row SUV purchased specifically to accommodate additional family members. Regarding the specific guideline questions: the defect is a manufacturer-identified noncompliance and has not been (and cannot be) reproduced or inspected by a dealer, because no diagnostic or repair procedure exists. There are no warning lamps or pre-failure symptoms, as the defect would only manifest in the event of a crash. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance, as no crash has occurred. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety risk while a remedy remains unavailable, and to request that NHTSA prioritize expedited development and deployment of the fix.

Power Train,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle has repeatedly produced white smoke during cold start and has experienced loss of engine power while driving. Despite multiple repair visits (six times) to an authorized Hyundai dealership, the dealer repeatedly stated that the condition could not be reproduced and no repairs were performed. I provided video evidence of the white smoke and described the symptoms in writing at each visit. Shortly after the most recent service visit(12/22/25), within approximately five days, the vehicle displayed an “Engine Power Limited” warning message and a malfunction indicator light (MIL). When this occurred, the vehicle’s power was significantly reduced, making it difficult to maintain speed and creating a potentially dangerous condition, especially during highway driving or merging into traffic. This issue poses a serious safety risk because sudden loss of engine power can increase the risk of collision. The problem appears to be intermittent but recurring, and it has not been properly diagnosed or corrected by the dealership despite repeated opportunities. The vehicle has not been repaired for this condition, and the defect remains unresolved. The condition may be available for inspection upon request, and diagnostic data such as warning messages and onboard fault codes should be present in the vehicle’s system. The failure began with white smoke during cold start and later escalated to engine power limitation and warning lights.

Back Over Prevention,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

The vehicle’s forward collision warning / rear cross-traffic warning system is falsely detecting obstacles while I am driving down a normal residential driveway. The driveway has a gentle slope overall, with a slightly sharper angle right at the point where it meets the street. As I begin to move down the driveway—both in Drive and Reverse—the vehicle emits warning beeps and then suddenly and aggressively applies the brakes on its own, even though the path is completely clear. The braking is abrupt and forceful, and the system appears to misinterpret the brief angle change at the curbline as an obstacle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the unexpected hard stop could cause a collision or loss of control. More importantly, if the system behaves this way on a simple residential driveway, it could be extremely hazardous on public roads that have larger hills, dips, or transitions. Sudden automatic braking on a main roadway or at higher speeds could lead to a serious crash. The problem has occurred repeatedly and consistently at the same driveway since I began driving the vehicle. It happens nearly every time. I took the vehicle to Speck Hyundai in Kennewick, WA, but the dealer was unable to reproduce the issue during their inspection. I have video evidence clearly showing the warning beeps and the vehicle braking on its own.

My vehicle has had a recall for seat belt issues for a while. My dealer has been unable to make corrections as hyundai has not/does not have the equipment to repair the issue. Its been months. Now theres another issue with airbags, and rumors of another issue with headrests. They have sold me a lemon and they are not providing a remedy.

Power Train,Service Brakes1 complaint

I have 25 Palisade calligraphy and from the last two months I almost went 7-8 times to the dealership because of the ABS issue. When going over rougher road, railroad tracks, and also uneven surfaces brake is not working at that time. It is an issue that only happens under very specific conditions like slow speeds (under 10 mph), uneven surface (gravel, railroad tracks, speed bumps, driveway entry). Acts like ABS is activated but it the car isn't acknowledging that it is. I work in Manhattan and that is very crowdy place and at that time my car brake is not working, I almost hit the crowd because my car is not stopping at the stop line, it is very serious issue, please consider it and take this feedback.

Power Train,Vehicle Speed Control,Service Brakes1 complaint

ABS kicks in with even the slightest bump. Had an incident a couple weeks ago where I went over a bump while leaving a store and the car almost did not stop before hitting oncoming traffic. Have had issues for 10 months with the car not accelerating properly or shifting properly. Have tried to drive in every mode (smart, sport, comfort) and nothing makes it better. I have had the vehicle to the shop 3 times. First 2 times said no problem. The third time stated my rear seal is leaking and transmission is leaking as well as 4x4 coupler needs replaced. I feel unsafe to drive in this vehicle with me and my children.

Suspension,Unknown Or Other,Service Brakes1 complaint

Since the first week of driving my vehicle in August, I have reported to the dealership that it rides fairly bumpy over any road and fails to properly break if it is a bumpy road, causing me to almost have a collision. The dealership was unable to reproduce the same issue I was having and says that my car drives just fine. No messages have popped up

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other,Service Brakes1 complaint

The ABS engaged unnecessarily when I pressed the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to slide forward about 6-10 feet while I was driving at approximately 10 miles per hour. The same situation has occurred three times over the past seven months. When the ABS engages, it takes longer for the vehicle to slow down or stop. This poses a potential risk for everyday driving. Suspension,Service Brakes1 complaint

driving down gravel and uneven road when trying to break at stop sign. Car would not slow down or break as another car was coming down the road. At this time is when I pushed the break petal all the way down car was still not slowing down, the car started to do the death wobble, shake violently and vibrating, pulsing back and forth side to side up and down, steering wheel shaking. I had to let off the break and press the gas to hurry and speed up before the oncoming car hit me with my 2 small children inside. I have taken my car to the dealer ship and they told me there is no recalls for the 2025 Hyundai palisade my car has 5,036 miles on it bought it brand new off the lot, the service representative states they will look into it that it may take 24-48 hours to get back to me, but this may also be a suspension component but they will look into the incident. There were warnings signs and I take this route everyday every time I would break I could never fully press the break down as it would start shaking and make metal on metal noise and I would have to ease off the break petal.
