The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Reported consequence: Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are BOL, WO9, OOA, WOM, XOH, NOC, POD, BOE, UOF, POB, EOG, AOI, QO8, TOJ, DO7, and SOK. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V064. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 29, 2026.

STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS

NHTSA #19V865000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 CR-V vehicles. The rear subframe bolts were improperly manufactured and may loosen, allowing the rear subframe to separate.

Reported consequence: A separated rear subframe reduces vehicle handling and can suddenly disable the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear subframe bolts and retorque them or replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 27, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R6M.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY

NHTSA #22V380000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020 CR-V vehicles. The clip for the absorber inside the fuel tank was not secured properly and may detach, which can cause an inaccurate fuel gauge reading.

Reported consequence: An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 5, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is RCB.

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS

NHTSA #23V524000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017, 2020, and 2022 CR-V vehicles. The certification label on the driver's side door states incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), and tire size information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Reported consequence: An incorrectly sized tire may cause premature tread wear, or a tire blow out, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install a new corrected label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 18, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is CF7.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES

NHTSA #23V844000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 CR-V Hybrid vehicles. The 12-Volt battery cable routed outside of the body frame is missing a fuse on the power circuit, which can allow the battery cable to short circuit or overheat during a crash.

Reported consequence: An overheated battery cable or short circuit can increase the risk of a fire or injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the battery cable, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 29, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is FGB.

NHTSA #20V798000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020 CR-V Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and 2020-2021 Insight vehicles. The DC-DC converter may shut down and prevent the 12-volt battery from recharging, possibly resulting in a loss of drive power.

Reported consequence: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the power converter unit (PCU) software, free of charge. The recall began February 12, 2021. Owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is K9E.

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

NHTSA #23V158000

A manufacturing issue with the front seat belts may cause the seat belt buckle channel to interfere with the release button, preventing the seat belt buckle from latching.

Reported consequence: An unlatched seat belt cannot properly restrain the seat occupant during a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver and front passenger seat belt buckle release buttons or the buckle assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 18, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are NDA, QDB, BDC, MDD, LD9. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the air bag as intended.

Reported consequence: An air bag that deploys unintentionally during a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2024, October 18, 2024, and August 2025. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for these recalls are XHP and VHQ.

Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

Steering18 complaints

Noticed problems with steering the vehicle. Initially the was not smooth when driving or turning and the steering would go through a very brief but light indecisive bump This problem started a week ago and has become worse. Plan to take car to dealer for diagnostics. Called Honda corporate and it looks like they may assist me with this

NHTSA #11733873

Our steering rack has failed on our 2020 CRV with 23,000 miles on it. There are recalls out there for earlier CRV's as well as the 2023-2025 CRV'S. It cost us $5300 to repair it. If there is an obvious safety defect, why are the 2020's not covered in this recall. There is obviously a long standing safety issue here.

NHTSA #11713608

Sticky steering wheel issue like the recent recall on newer Hondas. This 2020 has about 50k and has recently been flashing the EPS / Steering Wheel light when it occurs. After slowing down the vehicle "behaves" normal

NHTSA #11681860

Show 15 more

After 4 4/2 years and 26,500 miles the steering became (slightly sticky ) It would take extra pressure to move the steering wheel. It also make clicking and creaking sound while turning at lower speeds 10 MPH or less. The dealer said the entire steering rack needed replacement due to some part that could not be replaced. The the was fine until the steering just started getting tight.

NHTSA #11687386

Although this 2020 Honda CR-V vehicle is not covered by the “sticky steering” recall we are experiencing the same symptoms reported by owners of newer model cars included in the recall. Our dealer says the only fix is to replace the entire steering box at a cost of $3,000. In addition the timeline to get and fix the problem is unknown because the part is on nationwide back order. The car has 60k miles on it. We have just had new tires and breaks installed, a front end alignment and all linkages checked. The problem unfortunately persists. Clearly there is a problem with the steering on this vehicle. We haven’t yet experienced an accident but the car pulls to the left at high speed and takes considerable force to get it corrected. The vehicle could easily veer into traffic in the other or oncoming lane on its own. The ability to recover in time to avoid an accident is questionable. I am unsure if other owners have reported similar problems with this model and year but I believe this is something the agency should be looking into and discussing with the manufacturer. Given the part is on nationwide back order is a clear indicator of a systemic problem

NHTSA #11675345

The steering is binding up when turning and there is a clicking noise. I notice this a low speeds. Local mechanic inspected all suspension and drive train parts and said everything looked ok. He did not check the steering. I see this recall for later year models: The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle. Will Honda extend this recall to cover 2020 CRVs as it seems to be the same problem. This seems to be a known defect and should be covered. I look forward to your reply. Thank you

NHTSA #11670146

The steering started having a sticky/pulling problem on 5/22/25. When driving and taking a left curved road at 30 mph, the steering tries to pull me back to the right. This can be felt in the steering wheel and another person confirmed this same issued that I described. I checked online and found that some 2020 Honda CRVs are on a recall for an issue with the worm gear expanding causing this same problem. My VIN doesn't show up on the recall list. I purchased the car new on 4/25/20 and have kept up on all maintenance, including fluid changes.

NHTSA #11663028

My 2020 CR-V has developed a problem with the steering. When turning the steering wheel even slightly, the force to turn it increases and there is a clicking sound. The dealership confirmed the steering rack and gearbox need to be replaced. There is a recall for Honda's 2022 and 2023 CR-Vs for this same issue, but there are reports of the this issue going all the way back to the 2017 model. My car only has 50,000 miles. This is a known issue that can affect safety and Honda should extend their recall to include older models with the same steering problem.

NHTSA #11667371

When driving at highway speeds, steering feels like it is stuck in particular position. Especially while navigating a slight left turn. Needing to use additional force to bring the steering back to center

NHTSA #11670606

The steering wheel is sticking when returning to center when slightly turning left at high way speeds 65mph. There is a recall for this same issue on newer models.

NHTSA #11691026

Back in April 2025 my 2020 Honda CRV started having an issue with the steering where it would get stuck or it felt like a grab while driving, this happened while driving around 35 mph and on the interstate going around 78 mph, it felt like it could've made me over correct but it went back to "somewhat normal". It happened several times then took it to dealer, they were able to reconstruct the problem. Ended up that I had to put $3300.00 into replacing the steering rack assembly. NO recalls on the 2020 but there are on the newer models.

NHTSA #11666473

Subject: Recurring Steering Issue in Honda CR-V – Potential Inclusion in Recall In early 2023, we began experiencing a steering issue with our Honda CR-V. The steering would intermittently feel sticky or resistant, particularly at higher speeds and when navigating curves or corners. Over time, this issue was accompanied by a clicking noise. We took the vehicle to our local Honda dealership; however, they were unable to replicate the problem at that time. As the issue progressed, the vehicle became increasingly unsafe to drive. Eventually, the dealership acknowledged the problem and replaced the power steering rack under the manufacturer’s warranty. Approximately 18 months later, the same symptoms have reappeared: sticky steering at higher speeds, clicking noises, and an overall unsafe steering feel. Once again, the dealership has been unable to replicate the issue and has advised us to return when the problem becomes more consistent, which is concerning and unsafe. Upon researching, we discovered that Honda issued a recall (NHTSA Campaign#: 24V744000) affecting 1.7 million vehicles, including certain 2023–2025 CR-V models, due to a steering gearbox defect that can cause excessive internal friction and difficulty steering . While our vehicle’s model year is not currently included in this recall, the symptoms we are experiencing seem similar to those described. Request: We urge the NHTSA to investigate whether earlier model years of the Honda CR-V may also be affected by this steering defect. The recurrence of this issue, despite previous repairs, raises significant safety concerns. We believe our vehicle may warrant inclusion in the existing recall or prompt a separate investigation into similar steering-related safety issues in earlier CR-V models. Or at minimum help us resolve this continuous issue as we feel unsafe to drive our vehicle.

NHTSA #11658777

When driving at highway speeds, the steering is sticky and can get locked into a certain position. It can be overcome with moderate effort, but will become dangerous to drive if it gets worse. There are no warning lamps or messages related to this issue. I have taken it to the dealer and they refused to accept manufacturer responsibility for this. I took it to a trusted local independent mechanic who confirmed the issue and estimated it would cost roughly $4K to replace the rack and address the issue. Note that this issue has been identified by many other 2020 CRV owners, and the same issue has prompted a recall on 2023-24 Honda CRV models.

NHTSA #11696533

I recently noted that the steering wheel “sticks”, requiring a little extra effort in order to perform any slight lane correction and consequently requiring immediate additional correction from the opposite direction. This is very disconcerting especially at high speeds. After doing some online research, I found that the later models of the CRV and many other Hondas and Acuras are being recalled to correct this issue. This car has only 22,000 miles on it. I feel that it should be part of the recall. This is dangerous.

NHTSA #11637790

-Sticky steering with clicking noise and a tight pull -Steering failure would cause an accident -Problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer; stating rack & pinion replacement -6/2025 -Reported October 2024

NHTSA #11671568

Every summer, on particularly hot days—typically after driving for about 10 minutes—the steering wheel feels as if it is jammed; turning it becomes extremely stiff and difficult. However, when the weather cools down, the steering becomes perfectly smooth again, with no issues whatsoever. Since my English proficiency is limited, I visited the dealership's service department; unfortunately, because the weather happened to be cool at the time, they were unable to detect any problems during their inspection.

NHTSA #11735691

After warming up, the vehicle’s steering becomes a bit tight, and there's a spot where it feels sticky. At higher speeds, when I need to make slight adjustments to the steering, I notice this stickiness, which forces me to overcorrect momentarily. I'm concerned that if I have to overcorrect too much to compensate for the sticky steering, it could lead to a dangerous situation, especially on the highway.

NHTSA #11607236

Sticking steering wheel.Steering wheel sticks causing me to jerk wheel when turning curve.Yes, I took to Honda dealer and they ran test confirming problem. They said I need steering gearbox replaced. No warning lights occurred. About May 2024. It has gotten so bad now that I am afraid to drive it over 10 miles.

Engine15 complaints

Description of event: I was driving approximately 35 mph when the check engine light began flashing, the engine began shuddering, and acceleration began decreasing. I was able to safely pull over and turn off the vehicle. After approx. 10 minutes, I turned on the car and plugged in a code reader but no codes were available to view. I restarted the car and it functioned normally and the check engine light has not returned. Safety: If there had been more traffic, if I had been on a highway, or some other circumstance, it could have been difficult to safely pull over with a loss of power. The car has not been inspected by a third party but there are numerous anecdotal accounts of this same issue on Reddit and Honda forums.

NHTSA #11734944

On April 13, 20026 while traveling on a divided highway at about 70 mph, the car suddenly experienced rapid de-acceleration, similar to if someone slammed on the brakes. At the same time all dashboard warning lights began flashing. The car had failed and couldn't be driven. The Honda dealer in Rochester Minnesota said the turbocharger had failed. This was a very dangerous situation as it posed a real risk of being hit from behind by others who were still travelling at high speed while the failed car was dramatically slowing and trying to get off the road. This an unreasonable risk of injury and death not only to the driver and occupants but also to the general public and other nearby drivers and occupants. The Honda dealer in Rochester inspected and repaired the failed turbocharger and flushed the system and oil as required. The charge was $5,042.41 to replace the turbocharger and $736.48 to flush and change with fresh oil. This is without tax. Full invoice is available upon request. The Honda dealer inspected the car. No police report was filed. The car was towed back into Rochester by AAA. There was no warning lamps prior to the incident. The cars maintenance was up-to-date and has only about 60,00 miles. For a [XXX] old car, an engine failure that creates a serious risk of injury or death to the driver and public would suggest a recall is necessary to maintain public safety and make owner's whole. My issue seems consistent with NHTSA Action Number PE25016. On March 4, 2026, I was driving and my check engine light start flashing. Shortly thereafter, I lost motive power. I was driving approximately 50 mph at the time. I pulled over and turned my car off and then back on, at which point the check engine light turned off and motive power was restored. I brought my car into the dealership later that day and was told there was nothing wrong with my car as they could not find a fault code and did not experience the loss of motive power while test driving my car. On March 10, 2026, I was driving and my check engine started flashing but I did not lose motive power. On March 14, 2026, I was driving and my check engine light started flashing. Shortly thereafter, I lost motive power. I was driving approximately 50 mph at the time. I pulled over and turned my car off and then back on, at which point the check engine light turned off and motive power was restored.

All warning lights began going off in car as driving. No overheating and search indicated it may be due to battery needing replacement. Drove to Honda dealer/service to have vehicle inspected and was informed Turbo charger failed. Between research done and a call to our local dealer and was told this is a common issue. Diagnostic report and quote for new engine and turbo attached. Please note they did not perform the search to confirm there is metal in the engine.

NHTSA #11727658

For the last two years, our CR-V has had random engine failures where the car will lose power and the ability to accelerate. If you're going uphill it will stop entirely, otherwise you can usually limp along at about 20mph. We've taken the car in to the Honda dealer multiple times with no fix. We've had to abandon the car since Honda won't fix it and it's a complete safety hazard. The final incident happened while I was driving in a tunnel in a 60mph zone. The car died and I had nowhere to pull off so I was forced to slowly crawl through the tunnel as cars flew by me going 70mph. I was finally able to get out of the tunnel and pull over in a remotely safe place. Once you turn the car off, the system resets and you can drive again until the issue happens again. Honda diagnosed the issue, reproduced and confirmed the issue and, despite having an 8-year full warranty we bought when we bought the car new, they refused to fix it stating that they simply aren't able to. Their recommendation was to take the car and monitor the issue, despite confirming the extreme danger the car poses to us. We've asked them to replace the car with anything of similar value that won't be a safety threat, or buy the car back since we can't drive it. It's been sitting at the dealership for the last month and a half. We've now been forced to hire an attorney to help resolve this since Honda is refusing to take accountability for selling a completely unsafe vehicle.

This past year, on 10 occasions, the car misfires and loses power. All but 1 of these occurrences have been on the highway. The check engine light blinks, I pull over, turn the car off, wait a couple minutes, start the car, and the problem disappears. I have had the codes checked by both Honda and my personal mechanic - and neither can find a code that anything is wrong with the car. I have replaced the battery and 4 spark plugs but the issue keeps happening - more so recently as the weather is a little colder now. I am submitting the date of the most recent occurrence - but this has been happening since January of 2025.

I am the second owner of this vehicle. Upon purchase, i chose to purchase all extended warranties so that I had minimal out of pocket costs to maintain and repair my vehicle. I had the vehicle maintained regularly at LaFontaine Honda in Dearborn. A couple days before my scheduled service in December 2025, several warning lights became lit on the dash. I called the LaFontaine Honda, expressed my concerns and asked if I could bring the vehicle in immediately. I brought the vehicle in on December 3, 2025, and after several hours of diagnostics, it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. Vehicle mileage was 121,766 and I was informed that the warranty expired at 120,000. Tried to call Honda for assistance and they stated there was no assistance available, I would have to pay for the repairs. This Dealer serviced my vehicle the entire time that I owned it for 2 1/2 years. I purchased all extended warranties, and they would not help me. They only said they would put me in another vehicle put the negative equity in my new car loan. I was then ghosted by the service manager and sales manager. I had to go elsewhere and pay $8,595.76 for a used engine. I paid for the extended warranty and when I really needed it, Honda failed me.

Vehicle: 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid, 2.0L engine VIN: [XXX] Mileage at failure: ~73,000 miles Dealer: AutoNation Honda Fremont, California Estimated repair cost: ~$4,200 Issue: Blown head gasket Summary of Complaint: At approximately 73,000 miles, my 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid suffered a blown head gasket. The vehicle began showing symptoms of overheating and coolant loss, and a dealer diagnostic confirmed head gasket failure. The repair estimate from AutoNation Honda Fremont is approximately $4,200. A head gasket failure at this mileage is abnormal and indicates a potential design defect. I am aware of an ongoing class-action lawsuit concerning premature head gasket and engine failures in late-model Honda vehicles with turbocharged and hybrid engines, and my experience appears consistent with these allegations. This defect is a safety hazard because it can lead to sudden overheating, engine stalling, or complete failure while driving, which puts drivers and passengers at risk. It also creates an unreasonable financial burden on owners. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential widespread defect across Honda CR-V Hybrid and related models. I was sitting in the car with the car cranked on and then all my warnings lights and messages started flashing and blinking. The car was also idling on it’s on. I was scared because this has never happened before. So after looking for leaks under the hood , looking online to make sense of what was happening, turning it off and back on . I slowly drove to the Honda dealer down the street with my hazards lights on. Also due to it acting as if it wasn’t about to restart when I turned it off, and the car seemed like it wanted to cut off in traffic, This just happened on Saturday 3/14. It was the only incident of this kind, and the following Monday I got a call it was my fuel pump or fuel injection, and I was told gas was in my oil . I don’t know how or why this happened. I believe my car got missed in the recall for the issues the model has. I have done research and it has displayed a few of the issues stated online. I do know I have had other issues with my car screen going completely black in the car and my car throwing on brakes and nothing was there. Just wanted you all to be aware of this since I read this make and model have these issues.

While driving, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle immediately began running sluggish with significantly reduced engine power. The vehicle was unable to maintain normal driving speed and was operating below the posted speed limit, creating a potential traffic hazard and increasing the risk of a rear-end collision from faster-moving vehicles. I was able to carefully drive the vehicle home, but the condition persisted. After arriving home, the vehicle required multiple attempts to start, indicating an ongoing issue. I scanned the vehicle using an OBD diagnostic tool and retrieved diagnostic trouble code P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low), indicating a malfunction in the fuel delivery or fuel pressure system, which may involve the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or related components. There were no prior warning signs before this incident; the warnings and loss of performance occurred suddenly while the vehicle was being driven under normal conditions. The sudden reduction in engine power created a safety concern due to the inability to maintain normal traffic speed. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, dealer, police, insurance representatives, or other third parties, but the vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request.

NHTSA #11722442

At approximately 75,000 miles, my 2020 Honda CR-V began experiencing serious engine performance issues, including jerking, hesitation, and rough operation while driving. The check engine warning light began flashing, indicating an active engine misfire. During these events, the vehicle’s acceleration and engine response became unpredictable. Only traveling at 5 mph. The ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced, and then replaced again, by an independent mechanic. After the most recent repair, the vehicle was test driven and the issue persisted. A diagnostic scan shows the engine is running rich, which mechanics stated points to a fuel injector malfunction. Based on diagnostic results, repeated test drives, and elimination of ignition components as the cause, the fuel injector system is the component believed to have failed. This malfunction poses a safety risk because a misfiring engine can cause sudden loss of power, hesitation during acceleration, and unpredictable vehicle behavior, especially during merging, passing, or driving in traffic. The issue has been reproduced and reviewed by multiple mechanics, who reached the same conclusion regarding a fuel injector related failure. Prior to and during the failure, the vehicle exhibited jerking, hesitation, rough operation, and a flashing check engine light. These symptoms have continued despite repairs. The fuel injector failure is the subject of an active recall affecting this make, model, and year, however my VIN is not included in the recall. Despite this exclusion, my vehicle is exhibiting the same symptoms, misfire behavior, and diagnostic indicators addressed by the recall. The exact reason my VIN is excluded from the recall is unknown, but the evidence indicates a fuel injector related defect affecting safe operation of the vehicle.

My car's estimated fuel remaining changed from 1/4 tank to dangerously low within a few minutes. It seemed to work ok after I filled it, but my car failed to run when the car insisted that about a quarter tank of fuel was present when I was driving on a highway after dark - I managed to get safely over to the edge before it stopped moving. The repair shop I towed it to checked and found that the fuel pump and attached sensor had failed, in a car that had only 42,961 miles. I would also add that the Honda dealer in Tulsa refused to give me and my husband any kind of estimate over the phone, saying only that the we had to bring the car there for them to inspect, and they were not permitted to give repair estimates over the phone.

Fuel Pump failed; the car cannot be driven. Took car to local mechanic and was told the fuel pump is part of major recall from Honda and I need to go back to the dealership and have Honda pay for repairs. I was told my car is not part of the recall, even though 2.5 million Hondas have been recalled with this problem.

NHTSA #11632394

Hi pressure fuel pump stopped working while driving. My mechanic gave me the defective part in case someone wanted to inspect it. At the time of failure, the car suddenly entered "limp" mode and fortunately I was able to pull over to the side. When I tried to get moving, the engine jerked and sputtered to a maximum speed of about 15 mph. All the lights on the dashboard lit up and flashed. Warnings for many different types of problems displayed, but nothing specific about the fuel pump. There were no warnings previous to the sudden part failure. On the phone, my mechanic immediately told me that it was likely a well-known problem with Honda CRV's. He'd repaired other CRVs with the same problem. A Honda agent told me on the phone "yes" this is a common problem. However she said my CRV is not within the range of VIN numbers under recall. Therefore, I am not eligible for reimbursement at this time. That Honda Agent told me to submit my problem through the NHTSA website and then keep checking to see if my VIN number is eventually within the numbers. Once that is the case I will be reimbursed. I had my trusted mechanic make the repair, per Honda's direction (they said since I'm far away from a dealership and the car is driveable, just have it repaired by my mobile mechanic). Since the repair was completed, it is working fine although I now average 3 mpg less than before the repair.

Fuel pump. The mechanic did give me back the fuel pump. Independent mechanic documented repairs following Honda's instructions. There was no warning prior to the fuel pump stopping me dead in my tracks. I was at an intersection coming out of a busy parking lot. Was told by dealer that fuel injector/s are bad. I was driving on the highway at 75mph, when the car suddenly lost power, all (9) warning lights on the dash came on. There was a truck behind me that almost crashed into me because of the sudden loss of speed.

NHTSA #11613922

Several vehicles of the same year, make, and model were recalled for the fuel injectors but mine was not included. My car would not accelerate and became unsafe as I would try to move from stop lights, etc. I took my car into a repair shop and was told it was the fuel injectors. I would like to have my vehicle covered under this same recall as it is a hazard and I do not feel I should have to replace these on a newer car, especially when it is a known issue.

NHTSA #11604496

The high-pressure fuel pump in my vehicle failed. Unfortunately, this component is no longer available for inspection as it was repaired with a rebuild kit during repairs at the dealership. The failure of the fuel pump created a driving hazard. Due to insufficient fuel supply, the car exhibited erratic behavior, including the inability to maintain consistent speed. This caused the vehicle to drive at unusually low speeds, which impeded the flow of traffic. If this failure had occurred on the highway, it could have led to a fatal accident. To my knowledge, there has been no formal investigation into the failure of this component. The dealership rebuilt the high pressure fuel pump but did not conduct a thorough investigation into the root cause of the issue. The only indication of the impending failure was the activation of all warning lights on the dashboard when the car was started. Additionally, the vehicle became difficult to start. The first occurrence of this issue was on 06/08/2024, and the car became inoperable immediately after the initial warning signs.

1) “Collision Mitigation Braking System” (CMBS); CMBS still exists on this car. 2) Potential for getting rear-ended. 3) My brother with similar CR-V reports random CMBS braking. 4) No 5) CMBS first brake warning only after I started letting up off the brake pedal. CMBS produced 2nd brake warning just as it slammed on the brakes - AFTER distance between my car and car in front was already increasing (ie - no chance for collision). First appearance: I've been getting false CMBS brake alarms since purchase of car - this was the first time CMBS slammed on the brakes. I've heard other stories about CMBS type systems causing wrecks, etc... - I believe CMBS type systems need to be removed from all cars.

I get a random warning to brake when nothing is in front of me. It doesn't happen often, but it happens. P.S. I can not answer the questions below for some unknown reason. The dates vary and the car had approximately 30,000 miles.

On August 15, 2024, around noon, I was stopped at a red light waiting for the light to turn green. When it finally did, I released my foot from the brake pedal and proceeded to accelerate. Not even 2 seconds later, I heard a beeping sound (from collision mitigation system) and my car abruptly stopped. There was no car in front of me and the car behind me was 2 car distances away. My car abruptly stopped on its own with no obstruction in sight in front or behind. I am very concerned to say the least and now feel unsafe driving my car especially since I drive my children around all the time. The automatic braking system/collision mitigation braking system on my 2020 Honda CRV, although meant to increase safety seems to do the exact opposite. I did some research and learned how to turned the collision mitigation braking system off. I trust my fight or flight response more than this automatic braking system. It seems this is more likely to cause an accident. My vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer for this matter, however, I do plan on scheduling a service appointment to ensure the ABS system is working properly. The vehicle only has 38000 miles and has been driving smoothly, no warning messages or vehicle problems that I am aware of. As a public health professional, I feel it is my duty to report this safety concern. This system seems so faulty and dangerous. Please please please investigate this matter, it's so scary. I was the first and only car waiting at a stop light, when the light turned green I began to accelerate and as I aproached the crosswalk line the car auto-braked hard. There were no other cars near by, nor pedestrians anywhere. The auto-braking only lasted a second, did not quite come to a full stop and has not repeated. If there had been a car behind me, I could have easily been rear ended. I notified the service department at the dealership and told them of the NHTSA investigation, he said this was the first he has heard of the problem and if it happens again to document it and bring it in for inspection. I will do so. There were no warning lamps or messages before or after the incident.

On 6/16/2025 I was driving home and my car dinged and a light came up on my dash All Wheel Drive System Problem and felt funny. I was almost home and when turning off and back on it went off. Two days later I was almost home and the same thing and did not drive right. I got it to a Honda dealer and they determined it was the rear differential pump motor based on the code. They replaced it yesterday and within 5 miles threw another code, which was stated that the full rear differential was needed. After some research of the All Wheel Drive System Problem it appears there are a lot of people out there with CRV's that are having this issue. My vehicle has less than 41,000 miles on it and should not have gone out. I also noticed when I googled rear differential for 2020 CRV's that the NHTSA is reviewing a case for this issue. I am thankful that I have extended warranty and will cover the repairs but I feel that this should be a recall and that Honda should take care of it instead of extended warranty. On July 25, 2024, at approximately 2:30 pm I was driving on NM 528 on my way to the airport. I was driving at about 50 miles per hour when I suddenly heard an explosion as if a window had shattered. I looked all around my vehicle to see if a window was broken but I did not see anything. I continued driving and, as I entered I-25 going south, I heard another explosion, again as if a window had shattered. There were no other vehicles near me on either occasion. I continued driving to the airport, picked up my wife, and on the way home I happened to open the inside cover to the sunroof. I saw the sunroof was shattered but there were no shards of glass inside the car. The explosions seem to have thrown the glass shards outside the vehicle. See my photos. I believe my safety was put in jeopardy since I could have lost control of my vehicle upon hearing the explosions. Also, when returning home, my wife and I could have been injured from falling shards of glass when I opened the cover to the sunroof. I reported this incident to my local Honda dealer and I received an appointment date of August 13, 2024 for possible servicing. The service advisor told me that a manager would make a determination at the time of service as to what Honda will do to remedy my problem. I am filing a complaint against Honda regarding the infotainment system in my Honda CR-V. When I connect an Android device, the system crashes consistently. Despite informing Honda of this issue, their response has been dismissive. They stated, “We tested it with an iPhone and found no problems,” completely disregarding the issue with Android devices. Safety Concern: The infotainment system freezing when an Android device is connected poses a significant safety issue. Functional infotainment is crucial for navigation, hands-free communication, and other essential functions while driving. Frequent crashes disrupt these functionalities, potentially leading to distracted driving and increased risk of accidents. Honda’s failure to address this problem compromises driver and passenger safety. Misleading Advertising: Honda advertises that their infotainment system works with Android devices, which is not my experience. This misleading advertising is deceptive and unfair to consumers. Warranty Information: My vehicle is under a certified warranty, yet Honda has failed to provide the necessary support and repairs to resolve the issue. Desired Resolution: I seek a thorough investigation by the FTC into Honda’s misleading advertising and failure to address legitimate safety concerns with their infotainment system. I also request that Honda be required to fix my vehicle so that the infotainment system works reliably with Android devices. Additionally, Honda should formally acknowledge the problem and improve their customer support and product testing procedures.

My Honda CR-V Hybrid would stop working on the highway at high speeds. Sporadically, I would be driving at speeds from 55-75mph and the accelerator pedal would stop working and my car would start slowing to a halt. I would have to pull over to the side of the highway quickly, turn the car off, and then restart it. It usually would work but occasionally the car would stop a mile or two down the road and I would have to restart it again. This occurred six times between 11/24 and 1/25. In all cases, the car would still have electrical power but the accelerator would simply stop responding. This led to several dangerous situations where I needed to maneuver around trailer trucks while rapidly slowing. In all cases, there was no warning lights or messages. I had two different mechanics, including the dealership where I bought the car, look at it and neither could find a source of the problem. This problem as occurred to other owners of Honda CR-V's if you search for this problem on Reddit and other forums. I ended up selling the car back to the dealership at a loss and buying a different used car.

Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance5 complaints

On multiple occasions, this vehicle has initiated automated braking with no other vehicles in the immediate proximity. On 2 occasions, the automated braking has resulted in near misses of rear end collisions. This is an intermittently occurring fault that has become more frequent as of late. The vehicle has <100k on the odometer. The vehicle was taken to the local Honda dealer and their investigative procedure included an 8 min test drive of less than 5 miles and reported that there was nothing wrong with the system. No attempt to make any corrections or improvements was attempted.

Traveling at 70 mph on I-5, Washington State, a warning message telling us the braking system was compromised, referencing "VSA", part so the stability control system. We pulled over and turned the car off, deleting the message. Within two miles of proceeding along the road the display presented a message saying the parking/emergency brake was malfunctioning, at 70 mph. Three days later my wife was backing up in the driveway and the car applied the brakes and would not proceed. When my wife engaged the forward gear the car did drive forward while cycling various error messages. It, via computer interpretation, determines how the brake fluid pressure is applied/distributed to all and any of the braking systems. Some systems are automatically initiated and others are initiated by the driver. These systems include the auto-emergency braking, the application of the electric foot brakes, the parking brake among others. We had the car delivered to the local dealership with the above information. The dealer ran an OBD scan and decided that the electric servo booster. I do not challenge this decision. My concern is that this malfunction has triggered a recall in Japan and that there are worldwide reports of the malfunction. Please have someone look into this system failure with Honda.

Yesterday (XXX) while starting my car the warning lights came on notifying me of a potential issue with multiple safety systems including the brake system. My parking brake would not show that it was released and when put in gear the brakes were very mushy and the vehicle did not feel that it could be driven safely. I requested Triple AAA to tow the car to the Honda dealership in Lumberton North Carolina this morning (XXX) as I did not feel that it was safe to drive. A diagnostic test was performed that indicated that the Electric Servo Brake System / Electric Brake Booster System Malfunction was found and that the vehicle needs an Electric Servo Pedal Simulator Unit replaced. This component functions cooperatively with the Regenerative Brakes together with a structure in which pedal force is not influenced by braking pressure control. I have researched this issue and found that this particular problem and the associated part has been recognized as an ongoing problem with some Honda Hybrid models and that it has recently been recalled in Japan, and many Honda owners in the UK have also been experiencing the same malfunction to this part. This appears to be a systemic issue with a part involving select Honda Hybrid models that appears to occur as early as after 20,000 miles and oftentimes shortly after the vehicle involved is out of warranty. American Honda has not officially recognized this problem as a safety issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Service Brakes5 complaints

I was driving this vehicle (2020 Honda CRV hybrid touring) and the brakes became very hard to stop. It was like standard braking without power assist and required great effort to stop the vehicle. Many warnings appeared on the dash including: 1. Brake system problem 2. Electric parking brake problem 3. Brake hold system problem 4. Hill start assist problem 5. Collision mitigation system problem 6. Vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem 7. Road departure mitigation problem 8. Adaptive cruise control problem The emergency brake light is on and won't go away. Sometimes when you start it, the warnings will clear after pressing the "!" button. Other times they won't clear making it not driveable because of the hard braking. I took it to First Class Halt and they found some code they had never seen. They cleared the code and 2 days later it started up with the same thing. I took it to Hendrick Honda and they also just cleared a code. A few days later it started all over making the car undriveable at least in a safe manner with full control over the brakes. It seems that neither an independent shop nor a Honda dealership can correct this dangerous problem.

The brake warning light remains illuminated on the dashboard even when the parking brake is fully disengaged and while the vehicle is in motion. Same when the car is on or turned off. The brake warning light remain on continuously. Because this warning light is associated with the braking system, it creates uncertainty about whether the braking system and related safety systems are functioning properly while the vehicle is being driven. This raises safety concerns. The vehicle currently has approximately 50,000 miles and has been regularly maintained. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership. After evaluation, the dealership indicated the issue may be related to the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) modulator. However, they stated they cannot confirm with certainty that replacing this component will resolve the issue. This will be an expensive repair with no warranty that’s the issue. All other possible issues with pads brake system, wires…were discarded and no code showed on the initial test. Since this warning involves a critical safety system and the cause has not been clearly identified, I am concerned this may represent a potential defect or premature failure of a braking system component.

- I own a 2020 CR-V Hybrid LX with a Continuously Variable Transmission that has been experiencing persistent engine problems over the past few months. I have taken the vehicle to two Honda dealership service centers, but neither location has been able to identify the root cause of the issue. Currently, the car is with a Honda dealership mechanic for further inspection. I am seeking assistance in resolving this matter as the issue remains unresolved despite multiple attempts. -The engine problem initially occurred while I was driving, causing the car to slow down unexpectedly. Most recently, the issue occurred when I started the vehicle. - The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by both Honda dealerships I visited; however, neither dealership has been able to determine the root cause. They have run several diagnostics and even cleaned out the fuel tank, but the problem persists. - Both Honda dealerships informed me that they brought in a manufacturing engineer and technician to conduct further testing. They recommended flushing the fuel tank and fuel line and replacing the spark plugs; however, the engine problem remains unresolved. I reached out to Honda headquarters about this issue, and they advised me to follow up after hearing back from the technician and engineer. However, I have not received any response since following up. - There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the engine issue. The warning messages and lights only appeared once the engine began to fail. The problem first started back in June. At that time, the car was not due for any maintenance and had no prior major issues.

Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System2 complaints

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The fuel delivery system and engine power management. The vehicle suffers from sudden "Limp Mode" activation and total loss of acceleration. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was severely compromised when the vehicle suddenly lost power while traveling at highway speeds. This occurred twice in high-speed traffic, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end collision as the vehicle could no longer maintain the flow of traffic or accelerate away from danger. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. The issue was reported to a dealer in 2024, but because the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) turned off after a restart, the dealer was unable to reproduce the failure or find stored error codes at that time. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, it was inspected by an authorized Honda dealer in 2024, but no repairs or actions were taken as they could not replicate the fault. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no prior symptoms or early warnings. In both incidents (2024 and yesterday), the engine light illuminated simultaneously with a sudden, localized loss of speed and a total inability to power up or accelerate while on the highway.

I am experiencing intermittent loss of motive power. Without warning at highway speeds I get a flashing check engine light immediately before the loss of motive power occurs. Motive power can be restored by turning the ignition off and back on. However, this action also clears the check engine light and any fault codes that were set. I drive with a code reader in the car and have received a P0302 code. This has happened at least five times since May 2024. It is available for inspection. I have brought it into a Honda dealership for repairs, they have changed the fuel injectors and pistons and it is still occurring. In November 2025 a new transmission was installed Curry Honda in Atlanta GA on my 2020 Honda CR-V. The new transmission came with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. In March 2026 my vehicle broke down and was towed to Tameron Honda in Daphne Al where a speed sensor was replaced at my expense of 388.44. The adaptive cruise control was not working prior to this repair. Within two weeks the vehicle experienced further issues and had to be driven in a compromised condition back to Curry Honda in Atlanta where the transmission wire harness was diagnosed as corroded and replaced at a cost of 1696.99. My vehicle has been garage-kept its entire life except when in the care of a dealership. Corrosion on a recently replaced transmission in a garage-kept vehicle cannot be attributed to environmental exposure or owner neglect. It points directly to a defective part of improper installation at Curry Honda. These failures occurred within months of a new transmission installation with no prior history of issues. I believe this is a safety defect as the vehicle broke down unexpectedly and had to be driven in a compromised condition posing a safety risk.

The same issue has happened twice. I'm driving on the highway, going maybe 60 or 65, and with no warning, the check engine light starts flashing and the car won't respond to the gas pedal. The car immediately starts to rapidly decelerate, and I can only try to get to the breakdown lane before I get rear-ended. I've been lucky (especially since my child was in the backseat both times). But when I stop the car, turn it off, then turn it on again, everything is fine. I can get back on the highway, and no problems occur. The codes are not stored, however, so I can't know what caused the problem. When this happened the first time (last year), I took it to the Honda dealer where I bought it, and they said they had never heard of this happening. When it happened the second time in January, I called Honda, spoke to an agent who gave me a case number (XXX), and said she has heard of something like this from other drivers, but the solutions were all different, so she couldn't say what would fix it for me. I did some internet research, and found other drivers who describe the exact same issue: [XXX] I've switched to premium gasoline ($$) and won't let it get lower than 1/4 full, and have an OBDII scanner in my glove compartment ready to go if it happens again. That said, this is a very dangerous defect, and I feel unsafe in my car. I am disturbed that a problem of with such potentially serious consequences has no solution that anyone can offer me. (Note: When I go to submit this, the final form leaves off the last # of the VIN. I tried to correct, but it happened again. The VIN is [XXX] , 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid. Best VIN ever.) Power Train,Electrical System,Service Brakes1 complaint

Recently ([XXX]) my wife was left stranded away from home when our 2020 CR-V started but would not go into any gear and had multiple warning messages about system failures including brake system problem (No Working Brakes), electric parking brake problem, tire pressure monitor problem, transmission system problem and auto engine idle stop system problem. If she had removed the [XXX] that cut the wires while driving the brakes would have stopped working. She had to call for a tow truck to take her to the Honda dealer. The Honda Technician found that wires running under the rear view mirror had been cut by the [XXX] she uses causing a short and a malfunction of the computer system. The repair cost was $2451. This is an obvious design flaw by Honda. My wife is a [XXX] and all [XXX] are designed to hang over the rear view mirror. Honda should not have left exposed wires there under the rearview mirror, they should have been enclosed and protected. Anyone using a [XXX] is at risk of cutting these wires which makes the vehicle undriveable. [XXX] people are most at risk of being stranded. Anyone with a 2020 Honda CR-V and using a [XXX] should be warned about this problem immediately. Our vehicle was repaired at Honda of Stevens Creek in San Jose CA and the repair bill was $2451. The technician even did a video showing how the [XXX] cut the wire. We request that Honda reimburse us for our repair cost of $2451 and for Honda to fix this issue before more [XXX] people are left stranded.

Steering,Engine1 complaint

There was no crash, but it is the second time within a month the vehicle stalls on the highway. The engine keeps running gives a loud banging sound. Also, the hybrid batteries are drained quickly to 0. The first-time the car started work again as normal after 1/2-1 hour standing on the side of the highway. The second time we turned the vehicle off/on, and it started to work again. In both cases the 'check engine' light came on. Twice the dealer ship inspected the car but could find anything wrong with it. We know there is a recall on the model and year, for a full pump issue (which I think is the issue here), but not for the VIN of this vehicle. The symptoms of the recall are identical to our experience. We are afraid to drive this car again. It is scary as the car stalls, power steering stops working, so does the power breaks and the car becomes uncontrollable. Luckly in both cases we were on a straight on the highway, but what would happen if we were in a turn on a winding road? Thanks.

Power Train,Vehicle Speed Control,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

While driving down the freeway at around 60 mph, I sharply accelerated to negotiate traffic and my vehicle lost power and the check engine light was flashing. I was able to roll to an exit ramp where i could barely get up a slight incline. I was able to get out of traffic but at speed of less than 5 mph. It sounded like the vehicle was running on two cylinders. I pulled over and turned the car off. I was able to re-start the car after which it ran normally. I went directly to the dealership where they were unable to reproduce or diagnose the issue.

Service Brakes, Hydraulic,Vehicle Speed Control1 complaint

The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while making a turn into a parking space, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated, drove up the curb, hit and drove over the metallic Bank sign pole, which damaged the undercarriage of the vehicle. The vehicle then crashed into the sides of two unoccupied vehicles that were parked perpendicularly to the contact's vehicle. The vehicle then stopped. The contact stated that one of the vehicles that the vehicle had crashed into was pushed a third of a block away. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed during the failure, but the vehicle failed to respond. The message "Brake Failure" was displayed, and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed, and no injury was sustained. The vehicle was towed to an autobody repair shop, where it was repaired for the damage sustained. Additionally, the contact stated that while pulling into a parking space in front of the residence, the brake pedal was depressed, but the failure recurred, causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of another parked and unoccupied vehicle. The other vehicle sustained minor damage. The air bags did not deployed. No police report was filed, and no injury was sustained. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call the manufacturer for diagnostic testing to be performed by an engineer with better electrical equipment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

Visibility/Wiper1 complaint

The wiper system stops working at times. The arms just stop mostly in the delay wiper setting. This makes it extremely hard to see in rainy conditions. No lights on the dash, have not brought the car to the dealership yet. I am quite frustrated that a 4 year old vehicle has an issue like this. We bought a new car to avoid fixing problems as cars age. Thankfully no one was hurt. This has happened a few times. I told my wife I would drive the car in the rain to see what happens to better describe it to the dealership.

Steering,Power Train1 complaint

A warning on the dash that read, "All Wheel System Drive Problem," came up several times during the past few days on my 2020 Honda CRV with only 70,000 miles. It came without any prior warning and power was diverted from all four wheels to just the front wheels. It posed a safety risk because it came so suddenly, but I was able to drive carefully to the dealership. There is a Service Bulletin with Honda with the NHTSA (#23-031) located at [XXX]. This is a known problem with both Honda and the NHTSA, yet there is no active recall. The dealership charged $1260 to have this repaired, even though it's a drivetrain issue and not a common maintenance item. I would like the NHTSA to request a recall with Honda so that I can be reimbursed for this. I have attached a copy of the invoice that Honda provided for the services rendered. I was pulling into a parking space and to stop but suddenly the vehicle just accelerated forward jumped the curve, straight through some bushes and crashed into a tree. The airbag deployed caused injuries to my right arm, head, chest contusion. Mostly passenger side front and front damages on the vehicle. Police, ambulance, and firefighter came to investigate and to help with my injuries.

Honda was using an "indirect" tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for several years, from at least 2020 to 2024. This indirect system shows a Low Tire indicator on the dash when a change in tire pressure on any of the four tires changes. It does NOT indicate which tire is affected. Thus, you are forced to check all four tires manually. This requires that you find a safe place to pull over and check the tires. You have no way to know if you are getting a flat without exiting the car. The system is VERY sensitive and will indicate Low Pressure if the change is even for a couple of pounds. I recently met someone who had the exact same vehicle as mine. We compared notes. Her CRV does the same thing and we both have experienced a bit of anxiety from it. Honda will tell you to "just recalibrate the system", but that does nothing but tell the vehicle that the tires are now OK at the new levels--even if one is low. This is a safety and performance issue. A Honda salesman told me today that they have gone back to a Direct system with individual tire pressure indicators on the new models. Apparently there have been a LOT of complaints.
