Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE

NHTSA #26V366000

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2026 CR-V Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and 2025-2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EV vehicles. When using the tire repair kit, pressure may build within the sealant bottle, causing the bottle cap to detach.

Reported consequence: A detached bottle cap can become a projectile and strike the user or others nearby, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the tire repair kit nozzle or sealant bottle, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 27, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in Fall 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is DOV. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning June 11, 2026.

NHTSA #11744404

It is my understanding Honda issued a extended warranty on the air conditioning condenser for its Accord models from 2018-2022. I have a 2023 Accord and the exact same issue has happened on my car. Similar to the earlier problems with fuel pumps where a partial recall was extended to the same model built in later years, I am suggesting Honda needs to repeat the extended warranty to include 2023 models. I am bringing this issue to your attention in case others are having the same experience.

NHTSA #11718663

To Whom It May Concern, My 2023 Honda Accord (VIN: <Fill in red: VIN [XXX] >) has been disabled since January 27, 2026 due to a fuel system failure. The dealership falsely claimed diesel contamination, which I deny. Despite escalation to Honda executives and NJ Lemon Law action, the vehicle remains unsafe and unusable. Attached is documentation supporting my complaint (Master PDF: Camardo_Honda_Accord_Escalation.pdf). I request your immediate review and assistance to resolve this safety issue. I was driving down the freeway and all of a sudden there was a spontaneous, loud-bang, and explosion-like shattering of my moonroof/sunroof. I didn't know what happened initially but heard glass shards sliding around the roof. I slid the cover slightly open and could see the shattered glass. I drove home and discovered a hole in the glass. Im attaching pictures of what I saw. I got home and searched online to see if anyone else has experienced this and found several articles referencing 2023 Honda Accord's and this issue. Including some class action law suits against Honda.

NHTSA #11666453

While driving at moderate speed (between 25 and 35mph), the car's dashboard indicated that The Brake System, Lane Departure, Honda Scene, Electric Motor/power Steering, and several other systems were having issues and I should see the dealer. I would have attempted to record these, but I was at an intersection, trying not to get hit. The battery light, tire pressure light, and another indicator (I cannot recall which one) was on. I was able to stop before entering the intersection. After letting up on the break, I did not move forward. I pressed the gas, and still did not move forward. I powered the car off by pressing the power down button after putting the car into park. Upon restart, the Break System error about the "Break Performance being reduced..." was still there and I was able to make my way into a nearby parking lot. I parked, and restarted the car again. The error was still there, but no more indicator lights were on. Inspecting around the car and under the hood, I didn't see anything that stood out. I restarted the car again, and had no lights, but the break message did appear again before disappearing. I was able to drive back home without further incident.

NHTSA #11641527

While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph, the car warning system beeped and displayed several error messages, including problems with the power steering, braking, and road mitigation systems. I was told to get my car to the dealer immediately. I also noticed that the car seemed to be losing acceleration power. As I was driving in traffic, my main concern was to get the car off the highway ASAP, so I was not able to note all the warnings. I did exit the highway, coasting off an exit ramp, having lost all or most power. After shutting off and restarting the car, all messages cleared except the warning of a potential brake failure, and I think the TPMS warning. I was now able to drive the car home with full power. The brakes, steering, and everything else seemed fine. After getting home, I shut off the car for about 30 minutes and when I restarted it, all errors had cleared. The car then drove fine and after the weekend, I took it to my dealer. They ran the error codes, and there were some codes, but nothing indicating a problem. They said it was fine to drive, but to let them know if I had additional problems.

NHTSA #11622780

I have had an active safety recall going on five months that has no current fix and after contacting the dealership, they are still unsure of the timeframe of a fix.

NHTSA #11643835

This has happened on two separate occasions, with our purchased-new 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, which has about 30,000 miles on it. We've had no other issues with this car prior to these two events described below, which happened within in one week of each other. FIRST EPISODE: I was driving on a 4 lane road separated by a median, moving straight ahead at around 30MPH, when suddenly, without any warning from any of the car systems, the displays went completely dark, I was unable to accelerate at all, and had to coast-over into a shopping center parking spot. Once I rolled into the lot (I still had steering), I placed it into park. I waited a few minutes, pushed down the brake and started the car without incident. We took it to a Honda Dealership, but they stated that because there were no warning messages we saw displayed, they would be unlikely to be able to reproduce this, and given we would have had to leave the car for several days without a loaner, we chalked it up to some kind of fluke-glitch. If this had happened on a freeway at higher speeds, this could have caused a serious life-threatening situation (being completely without power, unable to accelerate in fast moving traffic). SECOND EPISODE: This time, I was making a left hand turn and accelerating from a side street onto a main thoroughfare when the car once again lost all ability to accelerate, all screens went dark, and I coasted to the side of the road. There were no warning lights or messages prior to this happening, and once again all display screens were completely dark. Once I coasted to a stop, I put the car in Park, put my foot on the brake, and the car started right up. Had there been any cars coming in either direction, this loss of all ability to accelerate (and all power) could have placed me and other drivers in a serious life-threatening situation. We have an appointment on 6-6-24 with a local Honda Dealership, and it appears others have had this same problem.

NHTSA #11588238

The vehicle lost all ability to accelerate and a number of vehicle warning lights all activated at the same time. A number of warning messages started cycling through in the dash display including messages that there was a problem with power steering, braking, traction control, etc. upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle drove normally. I took it into the Honda dealership the next morning, and they saw logs of the issue from the day before, but could not get the warnings to reappear. They said they could not replace any sensors or parts that they believe may be affected if the issue only occurred once as it was likely just a “glitch”. I expressed concerns about safety but they said too many parts would need to be replaced.

NHTSA #11580522

The car has stopped suddenly after taking a turn on the road. It gave a bunch of warnings on the speedometer display saying the TPMS failed, Brake System failed, Collision Detection failed, and contact the service center immediately. I restarted the car, the car started moving. The warnings were still there for some time and they started disappearing one by one.

Steering9 complaints

EPS Steering rack assembly and gear box is making noises. Car was inspected by a licensed Honda repair center on 4/23/26 and was told that that this assembly will need to be replaced at a $4,900.00 estimate. This could put our family at risk if the steering or gear box fails during use. Vehicle has just over 50k miles. According to Honda's own "Tech Line Summary Article", dated 3/20/26, this is a known problem and effecting thousands of vehicles with no permanent solution.

NHTSA #11733612

When steering there is noise coming out. When parking or turning wheel all the way to one side it makes weird noise. I see so many complaints about this.

NHTSA #11725300

My 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid with only 16,000 miles on it has been having an intermittent steering problem for approx 2 months. I have seen this same issue reported by other 2023 Accord owners. When making a sharp turn, parking, etc. I hear a sort of clicking/tapping sound that seems to be coming from the front/steering rack of the car. Almost sounds like a gear needs lubricating. I reported this to my service technician today when my car was in for normal maintenance and they could not reproduce the issue. Based on other complaints, this is a manufacturer defect and needs to be recalled for my car. Thank you for your review of this.

NHTSA #11646305

Florida recently experienced a lower than average cold front. During this cold weather I started experiencing a problem with my steering. I initially described it as a twitching feeling with my steering but the next day I figured out how to recreate the issue consistently. My car wants to push me to the left into oncoming traffic. When I correct to the right I feel a momentarily resistance then the steering "let's go" and then steers right. I could repeatedly do this again and again. Car drifts left I steer right, steering sticks and then let's go to the right. I call and describe the issue immediately to my local dealership. They said my car isn't included in current recall for similar issue with crv etc. my appointment is in 3 days and now the weather is back in the 70s and I cannot recreate the issue. I'm sure when I drop it off, Honda will also not be able to recreate the issue in warm weather. It is a significant problem and needs to be addressed. My daughter thought she was going to be forced into oncoming traffic or the interstate wall because of it. Accords should be included. There's definitely a problem. I have a video that shows the twitch but I understand that probably doesn't mean much. Honda needs to fix this issue immediately

NHTSA #11638514

Steering rack making noise when turning steering wheel either direction. Something is not right! The steering rack should be recalled. My vehicle is too new to be having issues. Actually, so many people are having issues with this. This should be recalled ASAP. Definitely a SAFETY issue.

NHTSA #11619228

I bought a Honda Accord Hybrid on June 15, 2023. The steering wheel made a noise in 2024. I repaired it once, but the problem of the steering wheel making a noise reappeared in June this year 2025. The steering wheel problem has always existed.

NHTSA #11670053

Subject: Complaint Regarding Steering Noise Issue on 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Dear Honda Customer Service, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the steering issue on my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, purchased in June 2023. •In July 2024, when my vehicle had around 29,540 miles, I first reported a steering noise issue to the dealership. At that time, the dealer only applied lubrication, which did not resolve the root cause. •In July 2025, when the mileage was around 60,440 miles, the same steering noise reappeared. The dealership replaced the right inner tie rod and performed an alignment, but the noise persisted. Later, they concluded that the steering rack would eventually need replacement. •I also noticed that this issue only occurs in extremely hot weather (high summer temperatures around 90°F). Once the temperature drops to around 70–80°F, the noise disappears completely. Because of this seasonal nature, the problem is very hard to reproduce during normal conditions, and it was not fully diagnosed while the car was still under warranty. Now, Honda has denied goodwill repair, stating that the vehicle has exceeded 60,000 miles. However, I strongly believe this problem started during the warranty period (July 2024) and was not properly resolved by the dealer, despite multiple visits. The issue is clearly related to a defect that only appears in extreme temperatures, which is beyond my control as a customer. This is extremely disappointing, as I have always trusted Honda’s reputation for quality and reliability. A steering problem is a serious safety concern, and denying repair based solely on mileage—when the defect clearly originated under warranty—feels unfair and unprofessional. I am requesting that Honda reconsider this case and provide goodwill repair coverage for the steering rack replacement. If this matter is not addressed, I will have no choice but to escalate my complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),

The contact's son owns a 2023 Honda Accord. While the contact's son was driving at highway speeds, the steering wheel seized with an unknown message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact's son used excessive force to steer the vehicle off to the shoulder of the highway. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where the mechanic discovered that the power steering gear box was defective; and the steering gear box was replaced. Recently, the contact's son stated that there was an abnormal tapping sound coming from the steering wheel. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified, and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,906.

Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance9 complaints

I was driving on the Freeway doing about 65 to 70 MPH and all of a sudden on the Dashboard a large orange brake light came on and the vehicle hit the brakes automatically almost causing an accident. I took it to the dealership and all they did was reset some computer board but said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. If they couldn’t find anything wrong with the vehicle then why reset the computer board.

Left a store on a frontage rd, drove about 1/2 mile , car just breaking out of no where, stoped in the middle of the road, the dash stated breaking malfunction see Dealer immidentaly car died, I restatred it , the dash still stated the same , the picture of the car had back lights flashing and the red Break sign was on , Took it to the nearest dealer and when they started it the warning system had erased. They inspected it, told me that they could not find anything wrong. I just leased it 2wks ago and only have driven it 3 times , not even a hundred miles and this happens. There were no warning signs of any kind . If I would have been approaching the freeway I could have been killed.

NHTSA #11686794

While driving 2023 Honda Accord at normal speed on rural road, the vehicle began to brake on it's own and driver could not over-ride this. Alarms for multiple failures showed on the dashboard. Car was stopped and would not move. Car was turned off then restarted. Dashboard alarms went away, only small information light for brake malfunction remained. Driver began to drive and tested brakes, all acted normally. Car was brought to Honda dealership. Dealership investigated and consulted with Honda engineers. They could not find a cause of the error, so nothing was fixed on the vehicle. Honda charged owner $150 to tell them nothing was wrong, even though car had taken control of brakes and stopped itself.

To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint to report a serious vehicle safety issue involving a Honda vehicle that was under a lease agreement. From the start of the lease, the vehicle suffered from repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensors. These issues were reported, and the vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership. Despite these efforts, the problem was never resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle had an active safety recall that was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle had been serviced at the dealership on several occasions. This failure to inform me of a recall represents a significant safety concern. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. I firmly believe that the unresolved sensor failures and the lack of recall disclosure played a role in this incident. I am submitting this report so that NHTSA may investigate this matter and determine whether there is a broader safety issue affecting other vehicles. Thank you for your attention. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When driving home the car emergency braked with no cars, debris, or anything else in the road. Car breaked to a full stop from 40mph causing serious whiplash and almost causing an accident.

Allegedly reported: 1 injury (as reported to NHTSA). NHTSA #11615358

The car stalled suddenly with hand brake pulled automatically while driving at a slow speed at a parking lot. The information center shows brake indicator flashing in red with description statements that include the brake might have reduced power and how to restart the car. Was able to start the car after releasing the hand brake and drive without issue. Sent the car to dealer’s service department but they couldn’t recreate the symptom and was told there is no recall for this issue.

NHTSA #11608644

While traveling at approximately 72 mph along the NYS Thruway at approximately 6pm on Februay 17, 2024 the vehicle's emergency braking system activated. There were no vehicles or obstuctions present at the time. The cruise control system was engaged at the time of the incident. The vehicle slowed immediately to approximately 59 mph. The dashboard flashed a yellow light indicating to the driver to immediately brake. This happened very quickly and the vehicle then resumed normal speed. At the time of the incident the vehicle was approaching an underpass that was several hundred feet ahead of the vehicle at the time. There has been no incidents prior to this one. I believe our safety was put at risk, as the sudden slowing of the vehicle could have caused a rear end collision. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance agencies.

Service Brakes7 complaints

During transit, the dash displayed several errors and then finally stated that there was a "Brake System problem, Brake performance my be reduced. See your dealer." The car lost power and I had to find a parking lot to exit the street to. After turning the car off and back on the car drove normal but with the Break System error still on the dash console. After parking the car for a while at home, I restarted the car and the error was no longer displayed and everything seemed normal again.

While coming to a stop on a slight incline, the brakes failed to stop the car, brakes were applied and initially slowed the car but when the slight incline was reached the brakes would not engage and the idle of the car move it forward and still the brakes would not engage. I had to put the car into neutral then park to stop. After the incident the brakes seemed to work fine. Nonetheless this is a major issue. There were no warning lights or any indication that something was malfunctioning. There were no indications after the incident either that anything malfunctioned. I will be taking the car to the dealer ASAP to have checked. We lightly tapped a truck that was in front of us on the slight incline - no obvious damage to either vehicle ( need to verify in daylight) - no injuries to anyone in the incident. If we were traveling faster there could have been serious injury or if there was a pedestrian there could have been serious injury.

Driving routine commute of 20 miles at Highway speeds on a clear weekday. The vehicle experienced ALL warning lights on dash and immediately went into limp mode. No power applied to the wheels when pressing the power pedal. Brought vehicle to the side of the road and powered off. Waited 30 secs to a minute and pressed Power and the only remaining error of "Brake System Problem" stayed up on the Driver display. Dropped vehicle off at the dealer, 3 miles from my job, to have them evaluate. After half a day the dealer stated "no problem found", "intermittent error". Now there is a known problem with late Honda vehicles with water intrusion into the tail lights and that in turn causes a short in the Braking system. I have noticed condensation in the tail light (Drivers side) but only a very small amount. Dealer stated they checked both tail lights and found no cracks or condensation. In my opinion my car falls into this category but dealer would not agree to a replacement assembly UNLESS they saw condensation in the tail lamp unit.

The car suddenly lost all acceleration, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree (5 or six lights came on. Check engine, brake problem, battery, low tire sensor ect). Once stop i could not accelerate. I had to turn the car on and off twice to go anywhere. Once back on the brake system light stayed on stating there was a problem with the electronic braking system. If I didn't put my flashers on immediately I would have been rear ended by a truck that slammed it's brakes on behind me.

Vehicle has lost power twice: dashboard signals break issue - see dealer. Car totally loses power while driving. Both instances occurred under 40 MPH.Must find a safe place to stop to park and restart car. Cause is unknown. HONDA dealer saw car after 1st incident and could find nothing. Car will again be looked at by HONDA dealer. My safety and others' could easily have been put at risk, especially if this happened at a high speed during heavy traffic.

“Brake system problem” was shown on the dashboard along with tire pressure problems and other messages. After the message, I couldn’t accelerate nor brake my vehicle. Driving at low speeds in Somerville MA on [XXX]. 1 yr old car with about $6k miles. It was a hot day. Front display lit up with warning about brakes being degraded and take to dealer. It also showed tire warnings, and traction control warnings. I believe acceleration was greatly reduced. Pulled over. Turned car off and on, and most of the errors cleared, except a brake warning. I drove 5 minutes home. Power cycled again, and the brake warning disappeared. I put a code reader on it, and it showed numerous communications issues. Problem did not repeat. I took to dealer. They confirmed the codes, and communicated with Honda corporate. Honda confirmed they were aware of the problem, but they do not have a solution yet. Google Search showed that it is an isolated problem. If it had happened at highway speeds, it could have resulted in a major accident Attaching code report to show communications errors INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not identified, and an oil change was performed. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer for a second opinion. The local dealer filed a claim with the manufacturer for the failure and related the issue to TSB: 24-055. Thankfully the driver was alert and was able to slam on his brakes to avoid a disaster on highway 270 (near Washington, DC). I was able to restart the vehicle after a few minutes, the warning lights remained on, and I was able to drive 8 miles to the dealership. MY CAR HAS A HOLE IN THE MOTOR, THE THROW ROD SHOT OUT OF IT. THE DEALERSHIP CLASSIC HONDA REFUSED TO DO ANY REAL INVESTIGATION AND IS RELYING SOLELY ON THE DIPSTICK READING. THIS CLEARLY VIOLATES ME IN PLENTY OF WAYS THIS IS WHAT I SENT THEM. I am formally escalating this matter and requesting immediate supervisory review and intervention regarding the inspection and handling of my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. The dealership is relying solely on a dipstick reading taken from an engine with a breached engine block. Once the engine block is compromised, the crankcase is no longer sealed, and oil redistributes into different internal cavities and passages. Under these conditions, a dipstick reading is not a reliable or valid method to determine pre-failure oil quantity or causation. I specifically requested that the oil pan drain plug be removed so the oil could be measured directly, which would provide an accurate and objective assessment of oil quantity. This request was refused. I was told, verbatim, that the dealership would not touch the vehicle any further. This refusal to perform a basic, non-destructive verification step, while continuing to rely on an unreliable post-failure dipstick reading, is not consistent with proper diagnostic procedure or good-faith warranty investigation. At this point, I am requesting: Immediate supervisory review of this case Assignment of a qualified Honda representative or supervisor to oversee a proper inspection Documentation explaining why a direct oil measurement was refused Confirmation that the vehicle and all components remain preserved for further review I am not asking for speculation or opinion. I am requesting a proper, objective, and technically sound investigation. Please treat this as a formal escalation request. I am prepared to pursue arbitration and further remedies if this matter continues to be handled without appropriate diagnostic standards. I request a response within 48 hours. The engine completely stopped while driving on two different occasions, once on I10 freeway and on a busy surface street. Hard to pinpoint the failure either mechanical or electrical. Was inspected by two different Honda dealerships and both found no error messages. On the freeway was extremely dangerous we were lucky to safely get to the shoulder and call AAA. On the most occurrence the engine shut off and caused a traffic jam but after a short time was able to restart with no damage only many angry drivers showing their irritation. There was no prior messages or other symptoms that was evident prior to these two occurrences. Had a safety recall performed yesterday, to inspect high pressure fuel pump and no fault was found. 12/22/23: I was accelerating onto the highway when multiple error messages popped up on the screen related to brakes, emission system, power steering, and others. The car’s accelerator lost power and slowed to a stop on the side of the highway. The interior electronics didn’t lose power, and neither did power steering or power brakes to my knowledge. I restarted the car and the warning lights remained on, however the accelerator appeared to function normally. Honda was unable to diagnose or fix. 3/31/25: I was pulling out of a parking deck when the engine lost power (no throttle) at the same time that multiple error messages came on to the screen. I coasted into a parking spot (brakes appeared to work) and turned the car off. I turned it back on and all of the lights had turned off except a warning about the brakes and TPMS (I think). The engine appeared to work normally, and I immediately drove to the Southpoint Honda service center. 4/8/25: Recap from Honda: Your car had a couple issues, they're all related. The first thing you're complaining about the stalling condition that is a known issue. There's a software update that fixes that. So I got it in here to do the software update, but then I could not communicate to the vehicle. The can Gateway module was unresponsive, which the car will run fine without it. But then, I can't talk to the car. So after testing everything and finding the module to have failed, I replaced the can Gateway this morning. Everything's communicating fine and software is updating right now for the module. Then I'm going to update the pgmfi software for the ICM system to correct the communication loss within the network that causes the stalling issue. So those two issues will be corrected.

I was travelling across a bridge at 45-50 MPH when suddenly, every single warning light came on and the engine shut off. I had to coast over the bridge and into a parking lot. I turned the car completely off and back on and the warning lights went away. The next day, I took the car to the dealership I purchased it from where they performed tests and concluded that rain caused my vehicle to shut off, this is not the first time they have encountered a similar issue, and there is nothing they can do about it. This is not an acceptable answer, as I cannot worry about mine and my family's safety in the car every time it rains. If there was another vehicle close to me when this happened, there would have been an accident. If this is a common issue, Honda needs to address this ASAP.

My automatic braking system randomly halted me to a stop in the middle of a clear road and almost caused the person behind me to crash into me even though they were back away from me a safe distance. This has happened several times now and it scares me a lot every time it happens. Makes me want to sell the car. I looked it up and saw that many other people online have had an issue with this feature. I also learned there’s no way for me to fully disable the feature which is frustrating. I can only turn it off manually each time I turn my car on. This feature is not safe and has put my life at risk way more times than it has been helpful.

Component/System that failed or malfunctioned: Power Train: automatic transmission internal (CVT). The vehicle stops responding to acceleration, remains static while the engine continues at high revolutions, without generating forward movement. The component is available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The incident occurred while driving on the highway. By losing acceleration power and not being able to maintain the required speed according to traffic laws, I was at risk of being struck by other vehicles traveling at normal highway speed. This situation posed an immediate danger to both myself and other drivers. Problem reproduction/confirmation: The dealership inspected the vehicle and informed me that, at this time, there is no safety bulletin related to my unit. Inspection by third parties: I have scheduled an appointment with the dealership for September 5, 2025, where a more detailed evaluation of the problem is expected to be performed. Warning signs or prior symptoms: When the failure occurs, several warning lights illuminate on the dashboard and then turn off. Timeline / first occurrence: The failure occurred on August 14, 2025, at 9,215 miles. Related campaign reference: There is an existing NHTSA recall campaign for the same vehicle model: NHTSA Campaign ID: 23V588000

My 2023 Honda Accord, with about 62,000 miles has a fault transmission, that is claimed a loss and needs to be replaced for almost $8,000. The transmission is currently at the dealership, but might be returned to Honda if a new one is installed. Our safety is being put at risk because if the transmission fails while driving the vehicle will not operate accordingly. The issue has been confirmed by my local Honda dealership, as well as others online confirming same issue with Honda CVT transmissions. The vehicle and transmission has not been inspected by police, manufacture, or insurance yet. There was no warning light. I did start to hear a ticking sound at 57,000 miles. My powertrain warranty is until 60,000. However, I was told by dealer to wait to do recall and regular service at same time. Now, I am passed my warranty 2,000 miles and they do not want to cover damages. I am almost positive it is a manufacturing issue because there is no way a transmission failed at 60,000 miles. Especially on a Honda. IF my transmission is replace I also do not receive an extended warranty, so I have 0 confidence in vehicle and do not want to keep it.

I was driving approximately 60 mph on a local highway when my the check engine light came on. The dashboard then started flashing warning messages for multiple error messages stating that many features were failing such as power steering, acceleration, brakes, lane assist, stability assist, and more. My car then lost power and decelerated, coming to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. I was unable accelerate or steer my vehicle to the side of the road. No one hit me but this could have easily caused an accident where either myself or others were hurt. I turned the car off and when I restarted it, my dashboard message stated that I had a brake system problem and that I should see my dealer. I was able to drive to the dealer where they ran a diagnostic and could not replicate the problem. They only stated it was a loss of communication in the computer but that "it would probably not happen again." They did nothing to identify what could have caused the loss in communication and said if it happened again, to bring the car back. I plan to take it to a certified mechanic to inspect the vehicle but I feel very unsafe driving a car that may lose power.

The vehicle unexpectedly stalled - lost power while driving and the brake system warning light came on. There were no warning lights, messages or other issues with the vehicle prior to this failure. Was fortunate that the car coasted to a stop on the side of a busy road with no traffic following behind. The vehicle was then towed to a Honda dealership for inspection. All of a sudden, the accelerator pedal stopped working --- all I really know is that the car wouldn't accelerate, regardless of how much I pressed on the pedal, and the car had to roll to a stop. A bunch of warning lights came on about the brakes malfunctioning, but I don't remember if the brakes actually stopped working (I was more focused on the fact that I couldn't accelerate --- this happened right as I was starting to move after a red light turned green). Thankfully this happened when I was going slowly in a residential area --- if I had been on the freeway and unable to get over to the shoulder before the car came to a halt, this could have caused a serious/fatal accident (or if the brakes really had stopped working, even in a residential area I could have crashed into something/someone). The car remained unresponsive until I turned the whole thing off and on again, at which point it started working like normal (although still with the warnings). I took the car to my dealership and they ran diagnostics, but they couldn't find anything and couldn't reproduce the problem when they drove it around, so they just shrugged and said I should "keep an eye on it and see if it happens again". So unfortunately I don't know what caused the problem or what to inspect (but I'm certainly not going to keep driving the car and risk this happening again).

I took my car in because the electric parking brake warning appeared while driving. I also looked it up and saw many others were having this issue. So basically Honda charged me for something that’s an ongoing Honda issue and passed it off as a glitch and cleared the codes. Clearly Honda needs to recall the 2023 accord because this isn’t safe and clearing the code isn’t taking care of the problem. Furthermore charging me for diagnosing this is completely wrong knowing this is not a problem only I am having. Honda needs a recall before there are serious accidents.

Describe the Safety Issue: My 2023 Honda Accord (VIN: 1HGCY1F28PA010141) stalled in traffic due to electrical system failure. A certified Honda technician found undisclosed non-factory wiring, exposed wires, removed aftermarket alarm components, BCM communication failure, and multiple hard codes that cannot be cleared. The vehicle has serious electrical defects that affect engine communication and safety systems. These conditions create a risk of stalling, electrical fire, loss of power, and loss of control while driving. The defects were present at the time of purchase but were not disclosed. When did the issue begin? Stalled in traffic and warning lights appeared immediately after purchase. Is the problem reproducible? Yes. Hard codes and electrical malfunctions reappear after clearing. Has the vehicle been inspected? Yes. Inspected at Team Gillman Honda North. Technician documented unsafe wiring, BCM issues, and recommended teardown with an estimated repair cost of $2,686.86. Has the manufacturer been contacted? Yes, through Honda dealership service. They confirmed the defects are not normal wear and are related to altered wiring. Has the dealer been contacted? Yes. The selling dealer refused assistance and told me not to contact them further.

My vehicle has an open safety recall 25V785 related to improper software programming of the Integrated Control Module CPU, which can cause loss of drive power while driving. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Tempe Honda dealer (8030 South Autoplex Loop, Tempe, AZ 85284) to have the recall completed. The dealer confirmed the recall is a software ICM update, but refused to perform the recall unless I paid approximately $981 plus tax to replace the original OEM audio head unit. The dealer stated that over-the-air infotainment updates were previously declined and claimed this prevents completion of the safety recall. The recall was not completed. The vehicle remains unrepaired for a known safety defect that can result in loss of drive power while in operation. Dealer refusal was documented in writing.

Recurring issue where car loses all power to the powertrain, brakes, etc. while driving. Electrical systems inside the car and lights still functions, but complete loss of system to accelerate or keep the car going. Twice while driving this vehicle, a large number of warning lights activated simultaneously, and I lost the ability to accelerate the vehicle. Essentially, every ADAS warning triggered at once during these incidents, causing me to lose acceleration and creating a dangerous situation. The first incident occurred on the highway during heavy traffic. The sudden activation of all ADAS warnings was alarming and highly distracting. Fortunately, I managed to pull over safely. After shutting the vehicle off and restarting it, most warnings disappeared, but a few related to the brakes remained, which was very concerning. Despite being able to drive afterward, I was worried about brake safety. Later, when I started the car again, no ADAS faults were present. The second incident happened as I was leaving my apartment complex, forcing me to stop in the middle of the road due to the same issue. After the first highway incident, I took the car to Honda, as it was still under warranty. They inspected it but dismissed the problem, stating all they saw on the code reader were “junk codes” and that nothing was wrong. I plan to return to Honda after the second incident, but I fear they will give the same explanation. Online research reveals that many others have experienced almost identical issues. This is an extremely dangerous flaw in the system that requires immediate investigation and a recall before someone gets seriously hurt.

Vehicle Power Loss and System Malfunctions I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recurring and potentially dangerous issue with my vehicle, 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. Twice while driving, the vehicle suddenly shut down on the freeway and completely lost power. In both cases, I was fortunately able to steer the car to the shoulder of the road, but this posed a serious safety risk. During these incidents, multiple system error messages appeared on the dashboard, including alerts related to braking, lane departure, and other critical functions. Alarmingly, this same issue has also occurred while the vehicle was parked in my garage. Each time, the only way to temporarily resolve the issue has been to shut off the vehicle and restart it. Upon restarting, the only remaining warning is related to the braking system, along with a prompt to bring the car to the dealership. If the vehicle is restarted again, all error messages disappear. I have contacted my dealership after each occurrence and brought the vehicle in for inspection. My car is currently at the dealership, and I am awaiting information on the cause of the problem and the proposed resolution. After the first time it happened, I have taken video/pictures of the errors and supplied same to the dealership. I consider this a serious safety concern—not only for myself but also for any passengers and other drivers on the road. Quite honestly, I am now afraid to drive the car, knowing that it could unexpectedly shut down at any moment without warning.

On three separate occasions (the most recent of which was on Saturday), my vehicle’s dashboard lit up with various alerts, including “Brake System problem”, “TPMS problems”, and “Vehicle stability assist system problems”. At the same time, the vehicle’s accelerator completely stopped working. The issue would only resolve itself (and the alerts would go away) after I pulled over and restarted the vehicle twice. This issue happened on Saturday (on a highway), in March 2024 (driving out of a parking lot), and in February 2024 (on the highway). This is a safety issue because not being able to use the accelerator on the highway could potentially have lead to a serious crash. The dealers have been unable to replicate the issue. I've brought in the vehicle to dealerships on three occasions and have been told that because the alert wasn't actively visible when I brought it in after the fact.

Electrical System,Vehicle Speed Control,Service Brakes2 complaints

I was driving on the highway yesterday when all of a sudden several errors flashed on my dashboard, and my gas pedal stopped working. When I pulled over, I noticed an error code that read: "Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced". Not only did I lose all acceleration control, but the error codes tell me there are brake issues. After researching online it seems like many others have experienced this issue and some people found the issue was caused by a faulty Ignition Control Module.

See video here: [XXX] Description: Driving at a slow speed, all of a sudden my car went dead. Brakes went out, gas didn't work, and the car went through a series of errors essentially telling me nothing on the car worked. For around 30 seconds to a minute the car was non-responsive. Then eventually power came back and I got an error message telling me to take the car in because of a brake malfunction. This brake message was on the dash until I parked the car again, then there was no error and the car started up and behaved normally. This has happened twice, once in a parking lot, once in a parking garage. Luckily neither time I was headed towards another car, as I would have crashed. The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact veered to the left and struck a cement pole on the front driver side, where the vehicle came to a stop upon impact. The cement pole did not show signs of damage after the impact. The contact then parked the vehicle at the scene. No warning lights illuminated; however, the message “Initializing Driving” was displayed. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer; however, the dealer declined to repair the vehicle because the vehicle was out of warranty. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. A Police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained; however, the contact had a tight feeling in the right shoulder. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The Insurance company was contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was submitted. The failure mileage was 45,606.

Seems to be shoe specific. Inspection available upon request. Problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Problem caused by accelerator pedal/trim panel proximity and trim panel edge design. Driving on town road up a hill at about 30 mph when I got a brake system warning and the engine shut off and accelerator did not work. I was able glide to the side of the road (steering worked). I turned the car off and on and was able to continue driving to my destination but the same error message was present along with several others (eg TPMS, lane assist, collision mitigation). After being parked for 1 hour, I started car and there were no error messages and car functioned normally. Brought car to dealer (Westbrook CT Honda) and they ran diagnostic codes but found nothing other than what they described as an older voltage flux. They had never heard of a car's engine shutting off with the break system error. Told me that if it happened again to have car towed in so that there would be no code resets. I can only imagine my fear level if this had happened at 65 mph in the middle lane of a highway! I found a on-line forum where others are describing the same thing. Time for a recall? I went to put windshield washer fluid into my car. When I opened the hood, I saw that the under hood insulation was gone (Burt away). We just had a snow storm and it happen to be heavy wet snow. I always turn on the car from my house (auto start). The heavy snow forced the hood to touch the engine and because it did not have a cover, destoyed the insulation. I went to Honda and showed the service manager the picture. He said I would have to pay to replace the under hood insulation, that does not seem right.

I had to put car into park, turn the car off, turn car back on and then I could start the car and move out of the intersection to the side of the road. All warning lights and dashboard warnings were on. I have pic of warnings from last event (of 4). able to drive car, everything was normal except brake warnings was on the whole trip (30 min) but brakes worked fine. Parked car for 2 hours and when I came out, all warnings were NOT displayed. This has happened at about the following dates and mileage on the car BETWEEN events. Car purchased new 2/25/2023. First event was about 7/16/2023 at about 2994 miles. Second event was about 2/20/2024 at about 4978 miles since first event (7972 total miles). Third event was about 6/20/2024 at about 3885 miles since 2nd event (11857 total miles). Fourth event was on 11/9/2024 at exactly 3970 miles since 3rd event (15827 total miles. Each time, I have taken it into a dealer. They did a software update after 3rd event and after 4th event, replaced ICM module (ignition control module). Honda factory person worked with dealership after 3rd and 4th event. To date, we do not have any evidence that replacing the ICM has fixed the problem but also no evidence it has not fixed the problem as the events seem to happen every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. I have lots of documentation I have sent to Honda and have a case number with them (13997837). I have asked Honda to replace the car. They started the process but just this week in a call, they said they were ending that process for now. Summary: vehicle shutdown while my wife was driving 25 MPH, lost all engine propulsion and brakes failed. Thankfully, she was driving in community/residential street and could pull over safely, rolling to a stop in a side lot. If she were at higher speeds or on a freeway, my wife and others could have been seriously injured. Details: Alerts for the brakes system "Brakes system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer" and one involving tire pressure (cannot recall the exact message) came on at 35 MPH. She then came to a stop at a stop sign normally about 30-60 seconds later, then proceeded to accelerate again, continuing on her short route. At 25 MPH, the instrument cluster, all screens/electronics went black/off, propulsion stopped and brakes failed. She was able to steer the vehicle to a side lot as it rolled to a stop. After 20 minutes of attempts to restart the car, it finally restarted as if nothing happened. Further more, in between attempts to restart the car, the infotainment screen would randomly turn on, despite not having turned on the car at that time. Subsequently drove to dealer for inspection and awaiting response. Vehicle has had no other problems, only 5500 miles, just under 1 year old.

I am a [XXX]. I contacted Honda customer service to escalate my situation. I have not yet received help from the Winston-Salem Honda dealer as of 9:00 a.m. on 10/18/24. I have complained to the Department of Justice's consumer protection division. I have sent documentation. I reached out on Facebook. I was last contacted by Dallas, even though Mike's name is on my last paperwork. This is suspicious. My rubber on my door has been replaced. My seatbelt was missing a bolt. Tires with regular, correct maintenance from the dealer should last 30,000 miles. Because Honda of Winston-Salem did not follow the schedule, after bringing my car to them many times, I have to replace my four tires at under 22,000 miles. I have lost 30% of my tires' lifespan unnecessarily due to a lack of regular balancing and rotation, despite multiple visits to Honda of Winston-Salem. My last recall letter arrived over 60 days ago. My seatbelt, CVT transmission, and engine have recalls. My window tint has faded, my door is failing, my brakes have issues, there are electrical issues, and the ceiling is sagging. My Hondalink is incorrect. I asked for help with car features and I paid $3000 up front extended warranty, but they refused to assist. Traveling on the expressway at approximately 70mph the dashboard/instrument panel started lighting up with warnings regarding tires, braking, engine, etc, and the car/power started shutting down, could not accelerate, steering and braking became difficult, fortunately I was able to access an off ramp at which point the car was stopped with multiple cars and semis behind me. The emergency flasher did work which most likely saved us from being rear-ended. We turned the car off and then turned it back on twice and then it started up again.

I will be driving down the road and my vehicle will pop up with the brake message and slam by brakes. It does it randomly. It has put my safety in risk multiple times. It has done this on the interstate and thankfully there was no one behind me. I was going 80mph and it dropped me to 30mph in less then 5 seconds. The issue has not been reproduced since it does it randomly. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership many many times. There were no warning symptoms or anything. It just does it very randomly. I had an investigation open with Honda and all they said to do was take it back to the dealership. This car is an issue to public safety. I could very well be in front of someone one day who is not paying attention and there could be a very bad issue. There has been so many times these issues have occurred.

Twice this has happened to me. Yesterday, I was driving on a local road, around 45 to 50 mph. Suddenly, many warning lights came on (see photos) including that power steering was reduced, electric parking brake system issue, and TPMS issue. The car felt heavy to drive, but I still had control. I pulled over and turned off the car. After a few minutes, I turned on the car, and the warnings were gone and it drove normally. The hybrid battery was well-charged, so I don't think this was the problem. The previous time was around 2 months ago. That time I had to turn the car off and on twice before the warnings went away. I had taken the car to the Honda mechanic, but they found nothing wrong.

On 1/21 at about 12:20pm, the gas pedal on my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid stopped responding mid-drive with no warning while going uphill at 25mph. Had to stop in the road, put the car in park, then put it back in gear and the pedal worked again. After the pedal cut out, multiple alerts cycled on the dash, but only the gas pedal stopped working. This is the 3rd such incident since buying the car new on Apr 30: (1) June 25 going downhill at roughly 30mph on a neighborhood road. I shut off the car and restarted, and the pedal worked again. (2) Nov 16 on the freeway going 60-65mph. Pulled over, shut off, restarted, and the pedal worked again. I brought the car to my dealer each time. They found “loss of communication codes” but could not replicate the issue. They still have my car as of now and told me via text that "your Accord is communicating codes that we do not have a repair for yet." Unfortunately, they have closed my case without making repairs because they "have not found any issues in the system". This puts me and any drivers around me in danger, especially on the freeway.

Seat Belts2 complaints

This is in reference to the current recall on my vehicle for the front seatbelts. I have called a few dealerships over the last few months trying to get it fixed. At first they said there was no info about what to do, then followed by the "theres no parts" right now so there's nothing that can be done. I was able to finally take it in to get fixed as the service advisor told me that they are able to fix it. A few days passed and they told me "actually we dont have the parts to fix it" and told me that they wouldn't even test if it passed or failed (needing repair or not) becuase if it failed they would not be able to give me the car back for safety concerns. If it is such a safety concern then I believe that I shouldn't be driving the car at all. I just have to "deal with it" and take the risk that my car might or might not be affected and in turn if I get in an accident it could cause me more harm. I feel that at this point, about 6 months after the recall was announced, if it cannot be fixed the car as whole needs to be recalled / bought back and not put customers in a position to keep wondering when this is going to get fixed.

This is a second formal supplemental complaint. Vann York Honda sold this car as new, but a Honda America provided Carfax proved it was a prior personal use vehicle. The car has catastrophic phantom braking, causing a physical friction rash on my skin. Multiple witnesses are now afraid to ride in the car. The vehicle has suspension failures documented by irregular tire readings. Despite an active federal recall, Flow Honda refused mandated repairs. During a prior headliner repair, Flow Honda returned the car with a collapsed headliner and a Maintenance Minder A127 code. The oil life dropped from 45% to 5% without added mileage, yet I was told to drive it. Weatherstripping has been replaced. Recall work for seatbelt (which came apart) and fire risk in the engine. Manager Chris Moore falsely claimed a brake warning was merely a remote start issue. He has also shows a lack of understanding of the NC lemon laws. I have recorded complaints from well under 24,000 miles. Flow Honda held the car for four months, then claimed they did not know it was there. They sent a text acknowledging the recall but failed to perform it, trying to ship the car back to me to hide its 120-day neglect. Vehicle Speed Control,Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

While driving, my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid suddenly experienced a multi-system failure affecting: Road Departure Mitigation System Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Hill Start Assist Electric Power Steering System Brake System (“Brake performance may be reduced”) All warnings appeared within seconds. The vehicle is available for inspection, and the incident is documented with multiple photographs. In addition to the system failures, the vehicle unexpectedly began to lose power while I was driving, causing it to slow down rapidly in active traffic. This created an extremely hazardous situation, including: Risk of being rear-ended since my vehicle slowed without warning Reduced steering assist Reduced braking performance Loss of stability control Inability to accelerate out of the way This combination could easily have caused a serious collision. I later learned that there is an active recall related to the systems that failed on my vehicle. However: I never received any communication from Honda, no letter, no email, no notice of any kind. I am extremely unhappy and frustrated about this. Had Honda informed me of the recall: I would have scheduled service immediately I would NOT have driven the car under normal conditions I would NOT have been exposed to this dangerous situation on the road The absence of recall notification directly contributed to my being put in a potentially life-threatening situation. A recall notification exists for a reason which is to prevent exactly the type of failure and danger that I experienced. Honda’s failure to notify me removed my ability to take preventative action. The issue has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a Honda dealer. I will be taking the vehicle in for inspection as soon as possible. No inspections have been conducted yet, but I have full photographic documentation from the moment the incident occurred. No prior warning lights, symptoms, or error messages occurred.

While I was driving down the road with my foot on the gas pedal, without any notice whatsoever, my brakes began to jitter/shake and my steering wheel got stuck/tight and would not move. At this point, my car immediately makes a complete stop in the middle of the road and warning lamps appear such as; brake system problem, engine light, etc. I immediately turned on my hazard lights so cars behind me would go around me. Luckily, I was close to a curb and tugged on my stiff steering wheel and managed to park my car alongside the curb on the street. I called the Honda Dealership and they said my car was unsafe to drive and needed to be repaired. I immediately took my car to the Honda Dealership to get repaired. This malfunction could have caused an accident putting myself and others safety at risk as my car made an immediate complete stop on it's own and my steering wheel got stiff/hard to move making it hard to steer. There were NO warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem PRIOR to the failure.

Electrical System,Unknown Or Other,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

Summary of Incident: For approximately two years, my vehicle has experienced random electrical issues. All dashboard warning lights will flash at random times. When I take the vehicle to the dealership (Bell Honda), the problem disappears before it can be diagnosed. On September 27, 2025, and again on September 28, 2025, the vehicle completely stopped and shut off while I was driving. It would not restart. The hazard lights were stuck on and could not be turned off. This left me stranded and in a dangerous situation. After approximately 2-3 minutes, the vehicle was able to restart, but numerous warning lights remained illuminated on the dashboard. I had the vehicle tested with a diagnostic tool at an AutoZone, but no apparent issues were found in the system. Additional Information: This is an ongoing and unresolved safety issue that Honda has failed to address. This electrical problem, which causes the vehicle to shut down unexpectedly, is a significant safety hazard. This issue is in addition to another ongoing problem with the remote start system, which Honda has refused to diagnose and fix. Consequences and Concerns: The unexpected shutdown of the vehicle while in operation is extremely dangerous and could lead to a serious accident. The inability to use hazard lights properly further increases the risk to myself and other drivers. The intermittent nature of the problem makes it difficult to diagnose, but the consistent occurrence poses a serious risk that requires immediate investigation by Honda and the NHTSA.

On 5/8/25 when the light turned green at the stop light, my car shut down while the gear was on drive. I turned the flashers on. I had cars behind me honking and going around me. I put the shifter in Park. A car behind almost rear ended me. I tried a second time to go by shifting the gear to Drive but I had no luck. I put it back in Park and turned it off. I turned it back on and the dashboard seemed fine, the car accelerated when I shifted it to Drive. This is the second time that the same car shut down on me, the first time was over a year ago when the car was in motion at around 40 mph, I was able to pull over. The first time the dealer replaced a part and told me the problem was fixed. This time around the advisor said there's nothing they can do because they can't replicate the problem. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Vehicle Mileage: 29,200 miles Involved Honda Dealership: McGrath Honda, St. Charles, IL Details of Your Inquiry: I am seeking assistance regarding an ongoing issue with my 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid. The first time I noticed this issue was in the summer of 2024, when I experienced a similar set of alerts while driving in a parking lot. At the time, I didn't think much of it, as the vehicle seemed to return to normal shortly afterward. However, on [XXX], the problem occurred again, but this time it was more serious. While driving in a subdivision in Bolingbrook, IL, at approximately 25-30 MPH around 8:10 PM, my vehicle malfunctioned and displayed numerous system alerts, including: Adaptive cruise control system problem, Collision mitigation braking system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Electric power steering system problem, Electric parking brake system problem, Tire pressure monitor system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem. Additionally, my Honda app sent a warning stating, “Brake system problem, drive with caution.” During this time, the vehicle experienced a significant loss of power, with no braking or acceleration available. I was unable to use the brake pedal or accelerate, which caused immediate safety concerns. Luckily, I was in a subdivision and not on a busier road like Weber Rd. or I-55, as this could have resulted in a dangerous accident. I was able to coast the vehicle to a stop at the side of the road, where I waited for a few minutes. I then cycled the vehicle off, waited a few more minutes, and turned it back on. The vehicle started, and I was able to drive back home. A video was recorded showing the alerts on the dashboard. I brought my vehicle to McGrath Honda for diagnostics on March 28, 2025. The dealership found multiple lost communication codes from various subsystems, but they were unable to replicate the issue. Electrical System,Seat Belts,Service Brakes1 complaint

The yellow brake System Light illuminates on my dash. . I took my car to the Dealership immediately after the Brake System notification illuminated and the Dealer said they don't know how or why. I have a photo of the illuminated yellow light. My Electronic brake doesn't engage correctly when my car is parked I have video of the Electronic brake operating incorrectly. When i speak to the dealership they state that the Red Brake light did activate incorrectly. My car also slammed the brakes when there was nothing in front of me, causing the seatbelt to pull my neck violently. I was at risk of being rear ended. I've reported this to Honda America multiple times. The last incident caused so much anxiety and panic that I will not drive this car. I do not and will not continue to drive a car with brake issues. Please investigate. My car has been to the dealership nine times in one year and parked since 2/7/25.

Steering,Suspension,Lane Departure1 complaint

The vehicle's suspension is excessively stiff and harsh since new, transmitting all road imperfections, bumps, and irregularities directly to the driver and passengers, causing discomfort and fatigue. Additionally, there is abnormal noise (clunking/rattling/creaking/popping) from the steering rack area, especially when turning the steering wheel at low speeds, over bumps, or when stationary. The suspension components and steering rack assembly are available for inspection upon request. This condition affects safety by causing driver fatigue, reduced comfort/control on uneven roads, and potential distraction from steering noise indicating a possible developing failure in the steering system. The problems have been inspected and repair attempted by authorized Honda dealers on multiple occasions, but the issues persist and have not been resolved. The vehicle or component has been inspected by dealer service centers.

Driving out of parking lot at 15 mph, loss of power, unable to accelerate, message warning on dash stating brake problem. Message states reduced braking issue, see dealer. With a couple of tries while stopped, was able to restart the car. Braking problem message remained on dash. Drove about 6 miles to dealer. Parked the car. Shut off. Restarted in front of service advisor. The brake problem message was now gone. Decided to leave the car at the dealership for diagnosis as I was afraid to drive home. Waiting for call back. Mileage about 14,500 at incident.

When driving my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan, several warning lights came on, including the brakes and tire pressure. Then the accelerator didn’t work well. I pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the car. A message saying there was a problem with the braking system appeared. It also said braking performance could be reduced.

Structure1 complaint

Both front door weather seals are constantly popping off along the top edge of the door above the window. I've have to press them back on 4-5 times in the 18 months I've had the car and it only has 27,500 miles. I had the dealer attempt to fix this at the last oil changes and it again came off afterwards. This seems like a design flaw since it keeps happening even after the dealer fix.

Lane Departure,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

From the beginning of my lease, the vehicle experienced repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensor systems, including warning alerts and sensor-related failures. The vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair. Despite these repeated service visits, the safety sensor issues were never properly repaired or resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle was subject to an active safety recall, which was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle was serviced at the dealership on multiple occasions. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. Based on the unresolved sensor failures and the undisclosed recall, I believe these safety defects may have contributed to the accident. This complaint is submitted to report a serious safety concern and to request that NHTSA investigate whether similar vehicles may present a broader safety risk.

Today I was driving my 2023 Honda Accord Touring hybrid with 8k miles on it. Out of the blue, a bunch of warning messages / lights came on ("Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced. When overtaking Semi-trucks on the passenger side, as I approach the truck's cab, my vehicle turns off cruise control and sometimes applies the brakes while the vehicle icon will show an obstetrical is in my lane. On a few occasions, the emergency brake bar flashes and the car decelerates. Once I react (usually by applying the gas) the warnings go away. When I called Honda, they said to go to the dealer. The dealer states the vehicle is within specs and there is nothing they can do.

Vehicle sometimes picks up blacked out or repaved cracks in road as departing the lane. The vehicles steering wheels shakes and vibrates then steers back into what it thinks is the center of the lane. Mind you as I’m already centered. It begins pushing car into on coming traffic and lane. Also the bottom aluminum transmission cover has come loose causing the skid plate or cover to come down on one side. This particular piece has fallen off and was dragging causing sparks. Sometimes the speed limit on the dash reads 65MPH as 85MPH

Power Train,Electrical System,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

This happened on [XXX] at roughly [XXX] pm. I bought the new 2023 hybrid accord ex-l in June 2023 and the car only had 12413 miles. I was driving in Slidell, LA along [XXX] road towards [XXX]. I was driving 45 mph with adaptive cruise control. Suddenly there were lots of warning lights on. I don't really remember clearly how many warning lights since I was shocked. But I think that the "check engine", "tire pressure", "road departure", "traction", and "brake" were on. It was like fire work and at the same time, the car was losing power and the power steering was becoming stiff. Luckily there were no cars behind me and I was right by the entrance of a subdivision. I was able to turn into the entrance of the subdivision and the car basically stopped by the stop sign, kind of like dead. I was blocking the road and had to restart to car. But luckily I was able to restart and then there was only one warning messages left, the brake (please see photo). It says " Brake system problem, Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer". It was after 7 pm and I didn't think the repair department was open. So I took a photo and slowly drove to Abita Spring. After parked my car for maybe two hours and I then restarted the car, everything seems ok. No warning lights at all. So I drove back home. Was busy on [XXX] and [XXX] (Wednesday and Thursday), finally went to the dealer on Friday, [XXX]. There was no codes and the dealer cannot do anything even after showing the photo. Was told to pull over to the dealer and they need the code. It's been two weeks and the car seems fine. But if someone drives on highway, ~70 mph, this can be fatal. And HONDA needs to address this! Power Steering Failure. It is available for inspection upon request. After taking a right turn, the steering got stuck and did not come back as expected. This caused car crashing into the curb on the road, severely damaging front right front rim and tire. The steering alignments after the crash has been impacted - steering has to be tilted to make the car go straight. There are multiple warnings signs that include Brake System Warning, Vehicle Stability Assist System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem, Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem I have video of all the warnings that I see. The warnings disappeared for sometime and then came back. I am taking the car to a Honda dealership for inspection and repair tomorrow.

Fuel/Propulsion System,Forward Collision Avoidance,Back Over Prevention1 complaint

On December 29th, 2023, the display dashboard was filled with alarms, breaks, alignment, tire pressure, etc. I took it to the dealership, and they ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong. They told me to bring it next time it happens. On Tuesday, March 19th, at 7:15 a.m. I was driving to work in rush hour traffic. My display dashboard was filled with alarms, and my vehicle did not allow me to accelerate. I put on my hazards and attempted to reach the shoulder. I was fortunate to have the assistance of the truck behind me, which realized something went wrong and blocked me so I could get to the shoulder. Once on the shoulder, I took photos of the dashboard, turned the vehicle off, and restarted. I was able to accelerate. I called the dealership and took the car in. They are still unsure of the problem. They think it might be a "control module." The part is on backorder so that the potential fix will take a week to several months. The dealership wants me to pick up the vehicle and use it until the part comes in. I will not. They do not have a loaner. I am keeping it with them until the part comes in. I will also be hounding them to provide me with a loaner until they can do so. I refuse to drive a vehicle that could stop working at any moment. I will not be a danger to myself, my family, or others.

Steering,Service Brakes,Engine1 complaint

[XXX] My wife was driving this hybrid vehicle when it suddenly lost power in middle of road about a city block from starting location. There were no reasons for any automatic hazard overrides to become active. Dashboard displays stayed on but there was no accelerator response, and, importantly, there was an immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. Vehicle was traveling uphill and the emergency brakes had to be applied to arrest backward motion after coming to a stop. Judging by rate of slowdown, regenerative braking may also have been active. Rapidly following this, several diagnostic/warning messages (re brakes, steering, etc) started flashing in succession and then the message "see your dealer." About 10 minutes after this incident, my wife made one attempt to restart the car after turning the car off and then on. The response was a repeat of the flashing messages. I arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after this and the car restarted in a normal fashion. So, unfortunately, this is an intermittent, difficult-to-firmly-diagnose problem. Nevertheless, in view of the severe safety issues associated with this failure, we had the car towed to a Honda dealer. They found several items in the car's diagnostic system and, in consultation with Honda engineers, performed a software update for the ICM (ignition control module?) which, we were told, would address this problem, since other similar complaints had apparently been registered. The HUGE SAFETY ISSUE that this failure represents (loss of power along with steering assistance and braking assistance plus possibly more rapid deceleration) cannot be overestimated. We will be risking our lives to believe that the software fix truly addresses this problem. To believe that a software update is a sure fix is to believe that Honda knows the exact reason for this failure, and if they do, it is absurd that a software recall has not been issued. Please follow up on this matter with Honda. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was backing out of my driveway and put the car into drive I accelerated and applied firm brakes to slow the car down cause I forgot my brother. Brake system warning and tire pressure warning popped up and stayed. Turned the car on and off and it was still there. The next day everything was back to normal. Took it to the dealer and they said no codes were stored in the cars computer. Literally the next day a code popped up for the lane keep assist and disappeared 3 seconds later( this never happens usually). Took it to the dealer again but they said they can’t do anything if they can’t replicate the problem themselves. I’m suspecting an electrical issue.

Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

I purchased a new 2023 Honda Accord from Woodland Hills Honda on 1/20/24. On 1/23/24, I pull into my garage after driving home from work and turn off the car. I get out to an overwhelming smell of gasoline. I inspect the car for visible leaks, which I don’t see, but the gasoline fumes kept growing and spreading throughout my garage. Concerned for my safety, I call the fire department. They show up and inspect the car and find no visible leaks either but advise that I do not keep the vehicle in the garage overnight due to the growing fumes and to get the car towed to the dealer, as they do not want to turn the ignition on either for risk of fire. I call Honda Roadside Assist and they towed the car to the dealership. The next morning, I get a text message from a Honda service rep at 7:30am initiating the service. After 3 hours of waiting and not getting an update, I text the same number asking what the status of the car is and whether they have identified the cause of the gasoline fumes coming from the hood. The rep texts back saying he will call me. When he calls, the first thing he says is that they identified the issue and that “It’s not a big deal, the car wasn’t going to catch on fire.” No concern for my safety or what I had gone through, but rather a diminishing of the issue. He says it has something to do with a pipe that is supposed to distribute the fuel to the engine and other components, but the pipe is damaged and gasoline was getting backed up in the engine, causing the fumes. I don't know whether the problem has been reproduced/confirmed by the dealer apart from my verbal conversation with the service rep. I have asked for documentation for the diagnosis of the issue, a repair order, and report regarding long-term damage to the car 3 times and the service rep has dodged my questions all 3 times. There were no warning lights/messages prior to the issue and no one else has inspected the vehicle. I am worried they will hand me back an unsafe car
