Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

NHTSA #26V157000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Maverick vehicles. The moonroof glass may not have been bonded correctly to the moonroof frame, which could result in the glass panel detaching from the vehicle.

Reported consequence: A detached glass panel may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the moonroof glass and replace the glass if necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed March 30, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in April 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S18. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Reported consequence: A detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and repair the front lower control arm ball joints as necessary, free of charge. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Reported consequence: Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

Visibility/Wiper2 complaints

Windshields are made with glass far to thin. In the last 30 years i have never had a chip or crack on any vehicle. This is my second maverick, first one i had to replace windshield 3 times and fill 4 chips in 4 years. This new maverick i have now i have had for 1 month and already have a chip in my windshield. There is a major problem with the glass used on these trucks.

NHTSA #11740777

Windshield cracks easily. It cracked in a way that might impair vision. I have had large rocks hit my windshields in the past and and it usually ends up as just a round spot. I just bought this truck and a small Rock hit the lower driver side and it immediately cracked across my field of view about a foot across. This windshield is too thin or not properly laminated.

I have checked other vehicles 2026 same year model and their instrument cluster and backup camera and info screen are very bright and clearly visible. I have spoken to service manager at dealer and filed a compilate with ford on 5/26.This is very dangerous there are many children in my neighborhood and have concerns when backing up even using my mirrors and turn around to look I can't see behind the vehicle.
