Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OIL/LUBRICATION

NHTSA #25V198000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150, Expedition, and 2024 Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI engines. The engine may have a misaligned engine cup plug, which can result in a rapid oil leak.

Reported consequence: A rapid oil leak can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, an oil leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the engine cup plug alignment, and replace the plug if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S30.

STRUCTURE:INTERIOR PANELS:CENTER CONSOLE

NHTSA #26V368000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Expedition vehicles. The chrome plating on the center console may bubble and peel, resulting in sharp edges.

Reported consequence: Vehicle occupants may contact the center console's sharp edges, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the center consoles as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed June 16, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in January 2027. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S38. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on June 10, 2026.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL

NHTSA #26V104000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, Maverick, 2024-2026 Ranger, 2023-2026 F-600 SD, 2022-2027 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit vehicles. When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Reported consequence: Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C10. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 17, 2026.

BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE

NHTSA #25V315000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco, F-150, 2021-2024 Edge, 2022-2025 Escape, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600, 2022-2024 Expedition, 2022-2025 Transit, 2021-2023 Mach-E, 2024 Ranger, Mustang, 2021-2023 Lincoln Nautilus, 2022-2024 Navigator, and 2023-2024 Corsair vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.

Reported consequence: A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model and model years. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on June 26, 2025. Additional letters will be mailed once the final remedy is available on each phase. Owner notification letters were sent on October 8, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S49.

Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

The spring for the door for the 4-flat trailer plug on vehicle is too powerful. This resulted in the door wearing away at the trailer plug and has resulted in the wires of the trailer light plug breaking. This is available upon request. It puts our safety at risk as our trailer lights can go out and result in less information for other drivers, possibly resulting in a rear-end crash. The problem has not been reproduced, and has not been inspected. The only symptom of the problem in the vehicle is it telling us the trailer was disconnected. The trailer was a 2020 Malone microsport trailer.

NHTSA #11744309

No accident, malfunction, warning lights, or safety-related issues occurred. Vehicle is operating normally at this time.

NHTSA #11740097

The rear portion of the panoramic moonroof shattered spontaneously while the vehicle was being operated, without any impact or external cause.

On Monday, January 12, I was driving down the highway with 2 of my coworkers, when all of a sudden there was a loud pop and glass shattered. My sunroof had exploded. It was a sunny clear day, there were no vehicles in front of us and we were not going under an overpass. We pulled over to take pictures and drove the vehicle straight to Ford. We have since read that this type of incident has occurred before with multiple other Expeditions.

NHTSA #11711979

I was driving on the I95 and just passed the McHenry tunnel when out of nothing I heared a loud bang and my moon roof spontaneously shattered into pieces. Nothing hit it and after inspection there was also no other damage on the car but the rear part of the moonroof that was completely shattered.

NHTSA #11702998

Purchased this vehicle back in December. Dealaer never disclosed recall information associated with this vehicle. There was a stop sale doc sent out November for affected vehicles. However we were still sold this vehicle. I thought it was federally prohibited to sell a New vehicle which Tallahassee Ford did. They sold me this vehicle with no fix in sight. And now there's a 2nd recall. So not sure what we can do

NHTSA #11651796

On 1/7/25, I took my (less than 4 month old) Ford Expedition to Midwest Ford to have the oil changed and to have a rattle in the roof examined. I was told they had time for the oil change, but I'd have to make an appointment for the rattle and they were about 2 weeks out on appointments. In the meantime, I was on a 3 hour road trip, and approximately 10 minutes before arriving at my destination, the sunroof glass shattered. Because it had a rattle, I had the interior cover closed to prevent listening to the loud rattle. Had I not had it closed, that glass would have shattered on myself and my children while driving 60+ mph. This happened on [XXX], at approximately [XXX]. I have photo evidence upon arriving at home and inspecting the damage. My safety and the safety of my children was definitely put at risk. Had the interior not been closed, the explosion/shattering could have easily caused a wreck. When hearing the noise, I ducked, initially thinking something outside the vehicle had exploded. It wasn't until I heard/felt the air coming through that I realized it was the sunroof. I took the vehicle in first thing Monday morning to be examined by Midwest Ford. The service manager informed me that I couldn't prove nothing hit the vehicle so it probably wouldn't be covered. He refused to acknowledge that I had brought it in for a rattle and felt something was not right. His "claim" is that Ford denied the warranty claim because I couldn't prove something didn't hit the glass and cause it to shatter. We were on a 2 lane highway with no vehicles nearby and no outside weather conditions that would have initiated the shatter. No warning messages were present, other than the rattle that was clearly present. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA #11604405

I have a 2024 FORD Expedition Platinum I purchased new in May 2024. It has a vehicle vibration at 70+ MPH. This vibration is severe and felt through the entire SUV. Our retailer has tried all that FORD will allow under warranty to correct the problem. This includes rotating, rebalancing and replacing all the tires. Yet the problem prevails. The dealer service manager told me that complaints have come in from other owners expressing the same problem. However there has been no forward progress at this point. My concern is with this vibration, over time there will be some component fatigue and failure. And, I feel FORD is not actively engaged in correcting the issue. HELP.

NHTSA #11672498

The vehicle vibrates substantially at 60-80 mph. Vibrates at lower speeds as well but not as bad. Dealer has had the car for over 40 days. All new expeditions and Lincoln navigators have it as I have driven over 15 now. Vibration is clearly noticeable. Many sales people comment say it’s tires. The dealer shop foreman all acknowledge it. They have balanced tires and driveshaft- charged me for all of it. We have a small business and drive across country a lot. This makes the vehicle useless for that purpose. This was noticed within one mile of the dealership the day of purchase.

Electrical System7 complaints

I am filing this complaint regarding Ford Safety Recall 25S49 (NHTSA Campaign Number 25V315). My vehicle is a 2024 Ford Expedition Max, VIN [XXX] . The Ford pass app and the Ford recall site both show the remedy for the recall as "Available", but when I contact my dealer (Maxwell Ford in Austin, TX) they say that the repair cannot be performed because the update is not yet active in the Oasis dealer system. Ford has had months to release the software fix, but continues to delay the rollout to dealerships. Meanwhile, I have been without my vehicle because the rearview camera is unreliable and considered a safety hazard under the recall. I am paying for a new vehicle that is parked at the dealership and undriveable due to Ford's failure to provide a timely remedy. I have contacted Ford Executive Relations and their social media team, but have received no response or resolution. I am requesting that NHTSA hold Ford accountable for failing to make this safety recall fix available in a timely and transparent manner. The communication has been misleading to owners, and the delay is causing both financial and practical hardship. The contact owns a 2024 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that after the vehicle had been parked overnight, the vehicle failed to start the following morning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that rodents had eaten the soy-based wiring harnesses underneath the power distribution box, near the engine. The dealer informed the contact that eight wiring harnesses needed to be replaced and provided the contact with an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 17,304.

I recently purchased this vehicle new from Denny Menholt Ford in Butte, MT. When purchasing I was told they added a third brake light Pulse system as a requirement on all of their vehicles. Just today I learned that per NHTSA rules it is illegal to have any pulsing brake lights on a vehicle. I wanted to make you aware of the practices of this dealership, as they informed me that the Pulse brake light is a mandatory add on and not negotiable.

NHTSA #11639927

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the messages "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available", "Front Camera Default -Service Required", "Lane Merge Default", "Check Parking Sensors", "Blind Spot System Fault", "Cross Traffic System failure", and "Normal Cruise Control Active - Adaptive Braking Off" were displayed. The contact stated that a large red warning box appeared stating 'Resume Control" and the brakes were applied independently, causing the vehicle to come to an abrupt stop. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that a software update would be released in October, and the vehicle was released. The vehicle was taken to two dealers ; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed, but the system was reset. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

The issue involves the purchase of a 2024 Ford Expedition Max, VIN [XXX] , which purchased on [XXX] from Legacy Ford in Corbin, KY. Since purchasing this vehicle, I have encountered the following persistent issues that substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the vehicle: The vehicle was sold to me seemingly infested with rodents, which ate away much of the internal wiring of the engine compartment. The wiring is manufactured with soy-based sheathing, which is a well-known defect and further known to attract rodents/vermin and as I only possessed the vehicle in question for 3 weeks and 5 days (when first sensor light came on and only drove it 1383 miles (7 weeks total). I have been forced to make an insurance claim for this damage, which I feel was resultant of a manufacturing defect, but due to the inexcusable part delay in obtaining replacement wiring, the rental on my policy ran out. I have requested on several occasions, a VIN swap for a different vehicle and was told that this was not something the dealership could do. Despite these defects not being addressed at the Legacy Ford in Corbin, KY. I believe the wiring damage is too extensive to be adequately and safely repaired and I have been without my vehicle, while still making payments and paying out of pocket for transportation for 3 months now. Alton Blakely Ford of Corbin still has not repaired this clearly defective vehicle and the defects continue to exist. As of this letter, the vehicle's odometer reads 1,396 and I have only had the vehicle available to me for my usage for 3 weeks and 5 days. The vehicle is still in the shop and the only response I receive from them is that they are waiting on the part and they have no ide when it may be available. I have written to Ford Motor company and after many e-mail exchanges, the matter was closed by them with no resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. Malfunction: powered running board on the passenger side of vehicle while vehicle was in park with door open and engine running. It closed while my hisband was resting his right foot on it and then it opened and closed and his foot and lower ankle was getting crushed. I had to run around to passenger side and when I opened the right rear passenger door the running board released and opened up. The car will be going to the dealer for its first oil change etc. and I will talk to them about this incident.

When driving at highway speeds with speed control on the car will on its own slow down to 55 or 45 for no apparent reason and will not pick up the highway speed until the next sped limit sign is passed. More concerning is running at speed control set of 55mph on [XXX] the car speeds up when passing a state highway 70 sign the car ...on its own ...speeds up to 70mph. This happened numerous times between Eagle River, WI and Woodruff, WI. When slowing down thru a town the speed control slowed down on its own to 45 then 35 and as we left town the speed control on its own speed up tp 45 , then we passed another Wisconsin highway #70 sign the car speed up to 70 until 50 feet later we passed a 55mph speed sign and the car slowed to 55. Very concerning and the Ford dealer in Eagle River asked if we were on [XXX] ? I answered yes and he acted like he has heard that complaint before, and that there was no known fix to the issue. In our travels we stopped at a Ford dealer in Hazelwood, MO. and the service writer said he had never had heard of the issue. Any help with this ongoing issue would be helpful. The vehicle came to a stop from the impact. None of the air bags deployed. There were no injuries sustained. The "Pre-Collision Assist not available" and the "Adaptive Cruise not available" messages were displayed. In addition, the contact stated that the accelerator pedal fractured in two pieces. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The accelerator pedal was replaced. The contact stated that one month prior to the accident, the "Pre-Collision Assist not available" and the "Adaptive Cruise not available" illuminated intermittently. The insurance company was not made aware of the accident. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 15,263.

The contact rented a 2024 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated, upon passing a speed limit sign the vehicle independently accelerated to 80 MPH. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The rental agency was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,000.

On [XXX] my 2024 Ford Expedition had a malfunction that could have had serious consequences. This was the second time that this malfunction had occurred. On both occasions, I was parked in my driveway. When I started the 2024 Ford Expedition and put it in gear, before touching the gas, the throttle immediately went to full speed and the vehicle took off. On both occasions, I used extreme brake pressure to keep the vehicle from launching across my driveway while I reached for the "Start/Off" button. With the brakes heavily applied, the front tires were skidded 4-5 feet in the gravel. I re-started the Expedition and, with the gearshift in "Park", the engine again raced to full RPM. I immediately hit the "Start/Off" button. For a third time, I pressed "Start" and, again, the engine roared to full RPM. I hit the "Start/Off" button. A fourth time the engine started at normal RPM. The gas pedal was never touched, only the brake pedal. The dealership picked up the 2024 Ford Expedition on November 11, 2024 and has the vehicle to this day - January 1, 2024. The dealer has attempted multiple times to replicate the incident to no success. They advised me that there are no Service Bulletins nor diagnostics in the vehicle to explain the two events. There are eyewitnesses to attest to what happened. The Expedition has 3,100 miles. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

Service Brakes4 complaints

I am the owner of a 2024 Ford Expedition, purchased new in March 2024. I am writing to formally report multiple instances of complete brake failure, which pose a significant safety risk. The most recent incident occurred on [XXX], at approximately [XXX], while I was driving northbound on [XXX] in Cupertino, California, with my wife and two grandchildren (ages [XXX] and [XXX]) in the vehicle. As I approached the [XXX] exit, I began decelerating. While applying continuous pressure on the brake pedal during the descent of the off-ramp, the brake pedal suddenly went soft and sank to the floor. The vehicle failed to slow down and began accelerating downhill, due to gravity, toward the intersection at [XXX] , where the light was red. This total loss of braking control lasted for approximately 5 to 10 seconds and nearly resulted in a serious collision. I was only able to regain control by releasing and reapplying the brake pedal and shifting the transmission into Park, at which point the brakes resumed normal function. A similar brake failure occurred earlier in 2024 under comparable driving conditions. At that time, I believed it to be an isolated mechanical glitch, and therefor did not take it to the dealer. I brought the vehicle to Frontier Ford in Santa Clara the following day ([XXX]) for immediate inspection. Despite ongoing efforts by the dealership and Ford engineering, the issue has not been duplicated or resolved. As of this writing, the vehicle remains at the dealership. I am filing this complaint so that the matter may be officially documented and thoroughly investigated as a potential systemic safety defect affecting this model. I urge you to investigate this issue promptly to help prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of other drivers and passengers. The issue involves the brake system, specifically a brake fluid leak from the master cylinder area, which was identified under Ford Safety Recall 25S47. The component is still in the possession of the dealership and should be available for inspection upon request. I did not personally experience any symptoms while driving. There were no warning lights, messages, or noticeable changes in braking performance before the issue was discovered. The problem was confirmed by the service department at JC Lewis Ford during a recall inspection. They deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive due to the risk of reduced or complete loss of front braking power, which could place my safety and the safety of others at risk. As of now, the vehicle has been at the dealership for over 35 days, and Ford has not provided a fix or repair parts. I am currently driving a loaner vehicle. The issue has not been resolved and the vehicle remains out of service.

Two issues with a brand new vehicle that is in the service department and they are unable to diagnose the issue. The major concern is regarding the braking system. While in a parking lot driving slowly (5-10 mph) the brakes suddenly locked up and the vehicle came to a complete stop. A message appeared reading "Brake system failure, have brakes serviced". The message then went away and the vehicle was able to continue. The other issue is a front sensor keeps beeping as if there is something in that area. The brake issue is concerning, if we were on the interstate traveling at 70 mph this could be a major safety issue and puts us in danger. The car only has 300 miles on it.

Visibility/Wiper4 complaints

I just picked up the vehicle from the dealership where I was told a previous software updated addressed the wipers not working. But once again while driving they will not operate. This is a major safety issue, the vehicle was being driven in the rain...this is a highly dangerous situation that likely affects many if not all 2022-2024 Expeditions, especially with the 15" Sync 4 system and it's APIM module. NHTSA #11651512

When driving my entire window switch controller unit stopped working on the driver's side. At the time the window was partially down. After research I came to find this has been a common problem with the switch unit in Expeditions, F150s, Explorers. This is a safety issue as you cannot get the window to roll up which allows rain and snow to enter the driver's side door and affect your vision. Also, because the whole switch unit stopped working at once, I can not fold/unfold my side mirrors and I can not adjust them. I have an appointment on April 8th for repair. The switch should be available for inspection with them then. There were no warning lights prior to it stopping working.

NHTSA #11652311

The wipers will randomly stop working. The washer fluid spray does operate so pressing the button will spray the windshield but the wipers won't operate. Ford dealership has serviced it and said it's due to software problems with the APIM module. There is no fix and that same module is affecting other features which have not worked since I purchased the vehicle. For a year I've been told a software fix is coming.

The rear view camera is so pixelated that you cannot make our images, ESPECIALLY at night. Ford has stated that they have knowledge that "some" "2022-2024 Expedition vehicles equipped with an analog camera and a 12-inch center display screen may exhibit a rear camera image that the customer describes as grainy, fuzzy, or pixelated" Ford claims this may be due to the interaction between the analog camera and the high-definition digital center display screen. They also state to us customers that there is no repair and not to attempt any repairs for this condition because the NHTSA has not released any recall for this KNOWN issue. this is extremely hazardous and negligent.

Transmission failure. Vehicle has failed to accelerate and then failed to move at all. Still under warranty and no codes shown. Vehicle left immobile on interstate due to intermittent transmission failure. Initial repair was not sufficient as issue has returned. No solutions for additional repair to address safety issue.

NHTSA #11734560

At 715 miles on the odometer, the driver's side rear axle became detached from the wheel hub bearing, causing a loss of power while driving. Dealer states this was a manufacturing defect as the axle retaining bolt was cross-threaded and not properly seated.

NHTSA #11653837

Brand new 2024 ford expedition bought on 12/18/2024, came with a hairline crack on the transmission housing. Only leaked while driving at operating temperature. First noticed leak at 1600 miles transmission started operating faulty shortly there after. Could have been much worse if transmission failed at highway speeds. Dealer found hairline crack at around 4000 miles after multiple dealer visits. Currently at shop awaiting new transmission from manufacturer.

Seats2 complaints

I would like to report the seats. I bought my vehicle new. The seats has caused me to have medical issues. It has also caused one other person issues too, so it was not just me. I have never had any sort of back or leg issues before getting this vehicle. I now have severe Sciatica Nerve problems. Which, I have seen the Doctor for. It flares up so bad while I am driving my right leg goes into extreme pain then it goes numb. Which is not helpful since this is the foot I use the gas and brake with. This is my only transportation, so I do not have another vehicle to drive. I have had my son drive this vehicle when we went on a trip. I sat in the middle row captain chair and it was the same issue. This trip was when my daughter in-law (Which is an RN) starting having the same issues as myself.

I have had my car at the dealership twice, once in August of 2025 and once in February of 2026 because when I start I get a warning, front collision assist malfunction, lane keep assist malfunction, blind spot monitoring malfunction, and as a result, I have no cruise control, even in normal cruise control mode. I have been told it’s an electrical update, and it was October, then January, now it’s March. Just saw a recall was issued for Navigator, Nautilus, Aviator, and Explorer with this exact problem, but no recall for the expedition.

I purchased this 2024 Ford Expedition brand new from a Ford certified dealer (Conklin Cars, Newton , Kansas). Upon driving off the lot for the first time to a gas station across the street from the dealer, at restart all the sensor gave warnings. Sensors that gave warning include: Blind spots sensors, back-up sensors, Froward impact, lane departure, automatic braking, rear cross traffic, and the cruise display. I took it back to the dealership and the reset the system and upon starting the vehicle after parked, all the sensors stopped working again. I then took the Ford Expedition back to the certified dealer (Conklin Cars, Newton , Kansas) and they game me sheets of paper, Last one give after 4 visits to dealer [XXX]) stating that Ford knows of the an issues, which appear to be right off the factory line. This has been over a year and there have been several close calls for me and my family without these sensors, which is standard in most cars these days. Me and my family expect these sensors to work on the vehicles we drive, rather basic or premium. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Air Bags,Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance2 complaints

I was in a car accident on June 12, 2025, and my steering wheel airbag did not deploy correctly or function correctly. It was a front in straightforward collision. I did not have warning signs so my brakes could have been an issue because I was paying attention and unable to avoid an accident going under the speed limit. The rear cross traffic. Warning stays on pretty consistently because we live down a dirt road, and every time it rains, it again comes back on. I do not believe I heard the forward collision detection go off either. When I hit the back of a work convoy truck straight on, My steering wheel airbag did not deploy correctly. It did come out it never inflated. It did not protect me. I do not have any broken bones, but I do have a hematoma right beside my under arm, and a great deal of bruising.

Allegedly reported: 1 injury (as reported to NHTSA). NHTSA #11667891

I actually have already sent in an assessment for airbag, but then read the recall on brakes, which at the time, because a new vehicle, I didn’t think possible. Even when pushing on my brakes, my vehicle was not slowing down like it should have, and I had a front end collision. It was hard for me to think this was because of brakes because new, but I do think they need to be examined.

Suspension2 complaints

The differential came apart while my family and I were traveling on the highway out of town. This cause the vehicle to start violently jolting and wheels locked up. The vehicle began to skid across the center line into on coming traffic, we were almost hit head on and from behind due to this. My husband couldn’t get the vehicle to move, it was making a grinding and screeching noise. Finally, he got it into 4x4 mode and was able to move the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. This was a very traumatic and terrifying experience for my whole family, we literally thought we were doing to die. Not to mention, there was no indication or warning that notified us on the dashboard. Since we were 100 miles from home, I had to have my vehicle towed, partially at my expense to the closest Ford dealership in California, which was still 40 miles from my home. The service department confirmed it was the differential, it took almost two weeks to get the part and to fix it. Since, my vehicle was practically brand new and only had 2000 miles on it, the repair was covered under warranty. I contacted Ford customer service and notified them of what happened. I requested them to buy back the vehicle, however they declined. Now I am stuck with a brand new $75,000 vehicle with only 2150 miles on it, that I do not feel safe driving my family in. If one major issue has already happened, then the probability of something else major happening is pretty good. I’m extremely disappointed in Ford for not standing by their vehicles.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking and vibrating. The contact stated that the failure was present at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times regarding the failure, however the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the dealer replaced and balanced all four tires, however the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the dealer requested that the vehicle be inspected by the engineer, however, the request was denied by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150. The VIN was not available.

Vehicle Speed Control,Forward Collision Avoidance2 complaints

We are driving cross country. Three times the adaptive cruise control has accelerated and showed a new speed going as much as from 74 mph to 107 the third time. The second it went 75 to 88. I can’t remember the first but I know we had a sudden acceleration and quickly disengaged as we did all three sessions. Now we are finishing our trip to our summer home in Maryland without engaging because we don’t trust the system.

NHTSA #11659340

While using the adaptive cruise control, the speed of the vehicle rapids accelerates. If set to any speed less than 50, the vehicle speeds up to 56mph. If set to any speed greater than 56 but less than 86 mph, the speed of the vehicle accelerates to 86 mph. I have tested this issue over and over. I haven't talked to the dealership yet, but plan to today. Very scary to have the vehicle accelerate for no reason and for no driver input. The acceleration is fairly abrupt. The speed does not decline only speeds up.

Several of automatic sensors were not working (tire pressure) and the horn. The dealer stated I had road damage and wires were torn loose. I'm a 76 year old woman and I do not take this car off road or have any recollection of such an incident. I maintain the underside of the vehicle is improperly protected. They charged me $2300 to fix it.

Electrical System,Seats1 complaint

The third row seats both have reachable access to the third-row PowerFold buttons even in car seats. My two toddlers can easily reach the fold buttons while strapped in to their seats and are able to recline and move their seats forward and backwards. This caused major safety hazard because their car seats become loose. The buttons are placed very close to the third row seat and are accessible to 35 lb children to press and play with them. While strapped into their car seats, my children easily reached and both touched the buttons and loosened their car seats while the car was in motion and I was driving. There is no software setting or built-in dashboard switch to disable the third-row PowerFold buttons in a Ford Expedition. To prevent the seats from accidentally folding, the most effective permanent solutions are removing the associated fuse, disconnecting the physical wiring harness from the button panel, or physically blocking the switch. This is extremely dangerous and needs to be fixed

Power Train,Electrical System,Engine1 complaint

This is a report of a recurring, life-safety defect involving unintended vehicle movement in a 2024 Ford Expedition. The vehicle has experienced two separate incidents where it was placed in 'Park,' remained stationary for 13-30 seconds, and then began driving itself backward without driver intervention or throttle input. Incident 1: Occurred on March 29, 2026 and I have this one on video. Incident 2: Occurred on April 8, 2026. The video clearly shows the vehicle remaining stationary and in 'Park' for 13 seconds before the unintended movement begins. This delay proves the movement is not a 'start-up rocking' sensation or 'normal clutch drag,' but a delayed mechanical or electronic failure of the park actuator or transmission system. I presented the vehicle for service at a Ford dealership on April 17, 2026. Despite my report of a delayed-onset rollaway, the dealership documented the issue as a 'normal and desired characteristic' of the 10-speed transmission. They characterized the event as a minor 'rocking' sensation that occurs immediately, which is factually contradicted by my video evidence showing a 13-second delay. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle prone to unintended movement. I am requesting a formal investigation into a potential park-engagement failure.

Bought the car on Feb 14th 2026. We were told Avis car sales in fontana does their vehicle inspection on every car before its sold. We noticed the two back tires on the expedition were bald and showing cords. We told Tawnya and George about the tires and they said they would order them, they'd be in within two days and to bring the car back to get them replaced. When we got home we setup ford diagnostics and found out the oil life was at 29% so they also lied and sent us out with bad oil. We checked the dip stick and yeah super dark oil. We've called two days in a row and keep getting told they are busy and they will call us back, they have not. We have tried to reach corporate but they dont have a department for this. The vehicle is currently sitting because of how bad the tires are, its 100% not safe to drive. Trying to get the dealership to honor the safety fix they promised but they are avoiding it.

Electrical System,Engine,Fuel/Propulsion System1 complaint

The fuel line/fuel pump was leaking. Smelled fumes from the gasoline. Fuel was leaking over the fuel tank from the top of the tank. The vehicle was drivable when fuel was leaking. Very concerned that their could have been a fire due to the fuel leak. Took the vehicle to the Ford service department where it was purchased. Service shop stated that during inspection they noticed that something chewed through the fuel line/fuel pump. Comments made by the service advisors stated that they have seen squirrels/rodents attracted to the soy based ingredients of the parts/wiring. The repair would not be covered under warranty due to "outside influence". The manufacturer is installing a similar part and not covering under warranty. No warning lights; no warning messages. If the same type of soy based part is being installed, what is going to prevent the same thing from happening. Ford is not offering different types of parts and they do not have a way to prevent additional damage. No shield/tape/covering is being offered. Numerous instances of this referenced online due to soy based parts and Ford knowingly installing these parts without a fix or prevention. Consumer is responsible for all repairs. No warranty.

Issues with mirror began happening a month after purchasing brand new car (5/24), first mirror was "popping or clicking" upon turning outright, mirror had been replaced once, over last year issue has been on going and brought to dealershop " deemed a technological glitch" - no warning lights or messages appear - sometimes my control panel screen will turn black upon starting the car which I now know means to look at my passenger mirror. I bought this vehicle brand new in 2024 and none of the safety features are functional and can't be fixed. Ford corporation cannot find a a computer software fix for it and the dealership can't fix it. The vehicle in unsafe to drive. The following sensors are faulty and have continued to give failure alerts since I purchased the vehicle: 1) Cross Traffic Alert; 2) Blind Spot System Fault; 3) Pre-Collision Assist; 4) Front Camera Fault; 5) Parking Sensor Fault; 6) Lane Keeping Assistance, 7) Rear backup assistance. It is a safety hazard and unsafe to drive because none of the "Safety Warning" or "Driver Assistance" features work, that would help prevent accidents. For the past 2 years, I have been driving this defective vehicle that is a safety hazard, which is not repairable, nor is the vehicle marketable. I have tried to resolve this issue numerous times, but there is no solution. The dealership advised me to not bring it in for service again, because there is nothing that can be done. I tried to file a claim with Ford Corporate and requested they buy the vehicle back, because it meets the criteria and the elements under the Texas Lemon Law, regarding electrical and safety concerns. However, my claim was rejected. As of right now, there is no solution for this issue.

Lane Departure,Back Over Prevention1 complaint

Since I purchased the vehicle brand new, none of the safety features have been functional. The following sensors are faulty and none of them have worked since I bought the vehicle: 1) Cross Traffic Alert; 2) Blindspot System Fault; 3) Pre-Collision Assist; 4) Front Camera Fault; 5) Parking Sensor Fault; 6) Lane Keeping Assistance. I tried to take the vehicle into the service department of the dealership to fix the problem several times, but as of this time, there has been no solution. The dealership said the problem cannot be fixed, because only Ford Corporation can create a computer software fix for the problem. I was instructed by the dealership not to bring the vehicle back for the same issues, because nothing can be done, and they will not touch it. However, Ford has failed to launch a computer software fix, since I had had the vehicle to 2 years. Since the dealership can't fix it and Ford can't fix it, I am stuck with a defective vehicle that is "Unsafe" to drive, because all of these safety features that are not functional help prevent and reduce the probability of motor vehicle accidents. Ford is refusing to help me and rejected my claim even though they can't fix it.

I own a 2024 Ford Expedition XLT. The vehicle repeatedly loses multiple federally mandated safety systems including Blind Spot Monitoring, Cross-Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and camera systems. Alerts include: ‘Cross-Traffic System Fault,’ ‘Blind Spot System Fault,’ ‘Pre-Collision Assist Not Available,’ ‘Front Camera Fault,’ and ‘Check Parking Sensors.’ Ford has acknowledged this as a known issue with a fix delayed until June. My dealer (Morries Ford, Buffalo MN) is charging $225 each time the defect recurs just to clear errors. This is a safety defect that places my family at risk. Ford is refusing to cover the full repair cost and the dealer is charging for temporary resets.
