Below are recalls and complaints reported to NHTSA for the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. This information is consumer-reported and provided for general informational purposes only. Vehicles like this may qualify under California lemon law depending on their individual repair history.
The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.
At approximately 30,000 miles, upon starting my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse LT, the brake pedal traveled completely to the floorboards with zero resistance. Simultaneously, the 'Service Brake Assist' warning message appeared. This loss of hydraulic pressure occurred while stationary. This follows a dealership visit one week prior for a 'glitchy' check engine light that was dismissed by service staff. The vehicle is being towed via flatbed to the dealership as it is unsafe to operate. Additionally, the vehicle has exhibited abnormally 'touchy' brake response and a persistent high-pitched squeal from the front assembly since purchase. These symptoms suggest a failure of the e-Boost braking system and/or internal master cylinder seals, consistent with Service Update N242482170. This defect poses an immediate risk of total brake failure during operation.
NHTSA #11736189
Master cylinder failure at 15,000 miles on 4/13/2026 Safety risk of Potential brake system failure. Taken to dealership on 4/13/2026, as of today 4/16/2026, master cylinder has been replaced but now the vehicle is rejecting the part, per the dealership. ABS light and brake light illuminated at the time of failure. No other car symptoms noted.

I was driving through the tollbooth on the bayway in [XXX] , I stepped on the brake to slow down and all kinds of warning lights lit up in the car showing the brakes were not working. Anything automatic with the brakes failed. I had to stand on the brakes to get the Traverse to stop. The issue was confrmed to be the master brake cylinder I was lucky they had it in stock at Maher Chevrolet in St Petersburg. My grandson was supposed to be in this car the next day driving over the skyway bridge. The safety of children is being compromised. Please issue a recall!!!!! Master Brake Cylinder is defective. Multiple caution lights illuminated. (Service ESC, Service Brake Assist, Cruise Control Inoperative) Ed Morse Chevrolet and Brad Deery Motors have both confirmed the brake cyclinder being defective. Ed Morse advised not ordering the same brake cylinder as they are known issues from factory, they advised me to wait for the recall or a re-engineered part to be produced by GM. Brad Deery Motors knew nothing about this and they are currently putting the OEM master brake cylinder back on the car. I believe they are putting a known defective component back on my brand-new vehicle. There is currently a law suit in Pennsylvania. Turned on vehicle on 3/2/2026 and received a message stating "Anti-lock break system failure. Drive slow and stop cautiously." I test drove my vehicle in my local neighborhood and discovered that my brakes were only functioning at about 20% and would only respond if the brake petal was pressed all the way down. My car was towed to the local dealership to be assessed and was determined to need Reservoir 4.651, Cylinder 4.650, and Fluid 8.800 when it was picked up on 3/6/2026. Under further review of this report I came to discover a class action lawsuit for this vehicle make and model relating to cylinder part #85762161. I am unsure if my original part was that part number, but my experience closely mirrors other's that have been reported for the same issue and part repair. The part that was also replaced in my vehicle after the repair was part #85762161. Some individuals in this lawsuit have reported 100% brake failure. I am fearful to continue driving the vehicle knowing that there could still be ongoing issues with the part that directly relates to the brakes.

I was driving at night on a dark road My truck showed “ Brake assist failure. Press hard to brake. Speed limited.” I tried to step on the brakes & the truck didn’t stop. I was able to eventually turn the truck off & when I restarted it was fine. Luckily it wasn’t a busy street or that I didn’t have my 3 kids with me because it could’ve ended differently. I set an appointment at my dealership & when I went to start my truck again 1. It was dead and 2 when I jumped it, that same message popped up again & my truck was towed to the dealership on 2.25 & I haven’t heard back from the dealership since with an update.

While driving, ABS, traction control, ESC, forward collision, and AWD alerts were indicated by the car. At the time it had 10 months in service and approximately 12,800 miles accumulated. After 17 days at the dealers service department and a direct call to GM the brake master cylinder and associated components were replaced. I've seen several reports of this generation of Traverse having this same issue for other owners at low mileage. I want to file this report to ensure that NHSTA is aware of this serious safety concern that could result in loss of braking power. It appears to be widespread and not addressed by any recall and dating back to the 2024 model year change to the most recent generation.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 30 MPH on an expressway, occupied with his wife in the vehicle, seated on the front passenger side, attempting to depress the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended, causing the front end of the vehicle to crash with the rear end of the vehicle in front. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal felt abnormally hard and excessive force was applied; however failed to bring the vehicle to a stop, causing the crash. The air bags did deploy. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, the vehicle was then towed to the insurance company. The contact stated she and her husband did not sustain any injuries. No medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

Brakes have squeaked since the day we bought our brand new vehicle. I have contacted the dealers and called corporate. The answer I have received from both is”it is the material they are making the brake pads out of.” We paid over $50,000.00 for our vehicle and do not want to deal with squeaky brakes all the time. They will not do anything about it.

I was driving down the road with my 4 year old son in the back and I went to stop at a stop sign and my car immediately lost brakes, the brakes went down to the floorboard with almost little to no stopping of my car. Then I had 3 warnings on my dashboard I can send pictures of them, my check engine light came on, my abs light came on and my traction control light came on. Very scary and something needs to be done about this
NHTSA #11697231
I started my car last Sunday afternoon (10/26/25) and it began to alert me with tones and flashed on my dashboard "Service Brake Assist" and "Service ESC". Prior to that I drove it earlier that morning and it was seemingly working fine. Took it to the dealership the next evening (Monday, 10/27/25)for them to look at the following day (Tuesday, 10/28/25) and was told they were still looking into it. They just contacted me today (Wednesday, 10/29/25) that it is the brake master cylinder that had failed and that I should not drive it and they offered me a rental car.

My traverse breaks gave out while going to pick my kids from school. I cannot safely drive my vehicle. Master break cylinder needs replacement,
NHTSA #11694360
On September 30 I was on my way to work as I was merging to join a busy highway my breaks failed to work. I had to press them really hard but it took for ever to yield. I made hand signals to the cars I was about to strike and they were able to break before I hit them as I was merging. When this happened 3 service lights appeared. Service ESC system, Break assist failure. Press hard to break.Speed limited. Key missing, check for key. i had an appointment for a cracked windshield on Friday the 3rd and Richland Chevrolet in Roswell. I took my traverse in on Wednesday afternoon and never heard back from them. on Monday October 6 I called and they advised me that my car needed a master cylinder and it was on back order. They said they could not give me an ETA because they have no idea when it will be available. They do not have a loaner because I did not purchase the vehicle their so I called the dealership where I bought it and they cant help me either.
NHTSA #11691899
Was traveling down the road at about 45 mph and the dash started to show a brake assist failure error and alarm. The brakes would not work and nearly went through the intersection during a red light.
NHTSA #11690038
my wife was driving and she got warning lights for "brake assist failure" "speed limited" and "Service ESC". Brake pedal went all the way to floor and she came to a rolling stop. She couldve been in a accident if there were vehicles in front of her and it was also near a school bus stop. We recieved the vehicle from the shop a week ago today for other issues. (onstar). Was also in shop at dealership prior to that for coolant leak, a/c failure and a loud humming noise. Also door latch to rear hatch.
NHTSA #11689765
My chevy has 3000 miles on it and the service the brake Assist and service the ESC Information flashes on the screen and the Brake and ABS lights are lit up.
NHTSA #11690057
The ABS break service warning appeared in the info screen. I have less than 3000 miles on it. The dealer said the car should not be driven. They had to order the parts, Master Cylinder, reservoir kit, etc. They also said there was a GM Bulletin on this issue.
NHTSA #11686815
Went out for lunch and the following warning lights popped up on my dash, "Brake", the ABS light was lit up, service brake assist and service ESC all popped up. Had my truck towed to lexington park chevy because it said it was not safe to drive
NHTSA #11684618
Normal evening running errands and brake pedal went to the floor, unable to stop and starting rolling into oncoming traffic. Put transmission in Park, then reverse to get out the main highway and back to the service road, car would continue to roll. Service ESC, Service Brake Assist, Engine light and more popped up on dash. Vehicle had to get towed. This could have been a very dangerous situation. Being told the Master Cylinder needs to be replaced. Part is ordered with no delivery date.
NHTSA #11684481
Took my Traverse through a car wash and when putting the vehicle from Neutral to Drive, a slew of lights turned on (ABS, traction control, check engine light). Car will be evaluated this coming week but all signs are pointing to the brake module and master cylinder as seen all over the internet and Reddit. This is a serious, common issue with GM vehicles and something needs to be done asap about this.
NHTSA #11682587
We have. 2025 Chevy Traverse that we bought 10 days ago and it has 597 miles. I stopped at a location turned off the car. When I got back in to leave and turned it on, The brake light came on, and brake light, collision light, service ESC and service brakes light. Apparently there are 4 or more GM cars in the dealership service department for over a month waiting for the part to fix this issue. The car is currently in the service department of the dealership we bought it from 10 days ago with no known date of fixing due to the national back order on parts.
NHTSA #11681631
New vehicle (bought in April 2025), vehicle has about 6400 miles. The ABS, forward collision braking system, traction and emergency brake services light all popped up (including alerts stating "Service ESC" and "Service Brake Assist"). Took to the dealership and was told the master brake cylinder needs replaced. They said the part is on back order and no eta.
NHTSA #11680529
On 8/11/2025 the brakes failed and the brake petal went all the way down. The check engine light came on as well as the ABS, traction control, front collision lights. The service ESC and service brake assist came on as well. It’s in the shop and needs a new brake master cylinder.
NHTSA #11681565
I was in the car wash and the service ESC came on It also had the traction control, ABS and check engine light came on. When I restarted my car the check engine light only came on . On the Chevy app it says my Anti Breaking System needs serviced. This is a brand new car bought a couple months ago with under 3,000 miles.
NHTSA #11678917
Brake assist, ESC alerts on vehicle. Sat in the dealer service shop for 3 days and said to have been fixed. Still with same issue
NHTSA #11679569
When my new vehicle hit 4k miles, the dash started to show alerts for "Service ESC" and "Service Break Assist". As well as those alerts, there were additional notification lights for "Brake", "ABS", "Electronic Stability Control (ESC)/Traction Control", and "Forward Collision Alert (FCA)". After some research, I was worried to drive my car incase the breaks would not work properly. So I discontinued to used my car with my 2 young children. The Chevy dealership has confirmed it's the back master cylinder that needs to be replaced. From my research, this is a common issue happening and a roll over issue from the 2024 models.
NHTSA #11680512
Started car and began backing up when ECS, Brake, and ABS messages came up. Upon attempting to break at slower rates of speed it felt like the brakes would slip slightly before catching and stopping. At normal rates of speed (25+) it wasn’t noticeable. In shop now with ‘censor failure’
NHTSA #11680138
On July 16, 2025, with 4,514 miles on the odometer, the dashboard displayed warning messages for “Service ECS” and “Service Brake Assist,” along with illuminated indicators for BRAKE, ABS, and Traction Control. At 4,598 miles, the master cylinder was replaced. However, after installing a new brake master cylinder, power brake booster, and Electronic Brake Control Module, the brakes failed. As a result, an independent certified dealer had to reinstall all components to address the issue.
NHTSA #11702462
The master brake cylinder failed around the 1600-mile mark. It seems to be occurring on 2025 Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave models. GM has no ETA on replacement parts. I took it to a nearby dealer service center (Dave Kirk Chevrolet in Crossville, TN), and they diagnosed the issue. I took it to a second dealer (Murfreesboro Chevrolet Buick GMC in TN), and they diagnosed the same issue. The vehicle is now sitting in the dealer's lot with no ETA on a replacement part.
NHTSA #11676144
I purchased a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse and experienced a complete failure of the master brake cylinder approximately two months after purchase. The brake system failed as I was operating the vehicle, creating a significant safety hazard. Fortunately, no accident occurred, but the car became unsafe and was in the dealership service center for 5 weeks awaiting repair. This failure occurred with very low mileage and without warning. I am concerned that this may be a manufacturing defect or part of a wider issue. The extended service delay also caused major inconvenience and out-of-pocket expenses. I am submitting this complaint so the NHTSA can track similar reports and investigate if necessary.
NHTSA #11679878
While driving the vehicle a brake assist and service ESC fault occurred. It flashed on the dashboard. The issue just appeared with no prior warning. This made the brakes very difficult to engage and control. I was driving 50+ MPH down a congested road and almost collided with vehicles in front of me stopping for a traffic light. I had my wife and two small children in the vehicle with me. I made it to a place of business and turned the vehicle off. It would not restart and had no power. It was towed to the dealership. The issue has occurred on two other occasions. Once about a month prior. The vehicle was able to restart and the fault was gone. The first time this happened was right after I purchased the vehicle. It had 500 miles on it. It was serviced by the dealership who replaced the master brake cylinder. The vehicle does not feel safe to drive due to the issue. You loose control of the brakes with no prior warning.
NHTSA #11669478
Master cylinder failure per Chevy shop. Dash board ESC alert with immediate service needed. No obvious symptoms prior to warning dash alerts. part is delayed no ETA
NHTSA #11669281
While driving my 2025 Chevy Traverse with under 2,000 miles on the odometer, multiple brake-related warnings suddenly appeared on the dashboard, including: Service Electronic Stability Control, Brake Assist, Brake System Warning, and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). I brought the vehicle to the dealership for diagnosis, where the issue was confirmed. However, I was informed that the replacement part is currently on back order, with no clear timeline for availability. I immediately contacted GM for assistance and was informed that the issue was due to a defective Brake Master Cylinder (part number 85762161). After further research, I discovered that a defective master cylinder can result in partial or complete brake failure, posing a serious safety risk. Given the extremely low mileage and the critical nature of the affected component, I believe this issue warrants investigation. I am concerned that similar failures may be occurring in other 2024–2025 Chevy Traverse vehicles and could lead to dangerous situations if not addressed promptly.
NHTSA #11678739
I purchased a brand-new 2025 Chevrolet Traverse and have been dealing with a loud brake squeal that makes the vehicle sound like it has worn-out brakes. I’ve taken it to two different Chevrolet dealerships, and instead of fixing the issue, I’ve repeatedly been told that this is a common problem with the 2025 Traverse and that many owners are experiencing the same thing. I’ve been given multiple explanations, including weather conditions and the vehicle needing to warm up, but no actual solution. I was even told there is currently no fix available through GM and that replacing the brake pads will not resolve the problem. What is most frustrating is that everyone seems to acknowledge the issue while also telling customers to simply live with it. This is a brand-new vehicle, and customers should not be expected to accept a known brake defect as normal. Very disappointed with both the dealership experience and GM’s response to what appears to be a widespread issue.
NHTSA #11743153
The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal metal-on-metal sound coming from the front brakes. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The dealer lubed the brakes; however, the failure persisted, and the abnormal grinding sound had worsened. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. However, no cause for the failure was found. The dealer lubed the brakes and informed the contact that the failure was common with the vehicle. The contact stated that the sound worsened. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

I JUST bought my car brand new 3 weeks ago. Yesterday as I was driving, my whole brake system just went out. About 6 lights came on the dash and maintenance was flashing. I got it to the nearest Chevy dealer and the Master Cylinder is bad. On A BRAND NEW CAR. A cylinder should last the lifetime of a car…not 3 weeks. The car is not drivable and I am told the parts are back ordered until the end of July. What if my children were in the car when this happened or if I was going 60 mph?? Unacceptable and someone needs to be aware of this!
NHTSA #11660595
Car has 1200 miles on it. Turned on and dash lit up with warnings. Took to dealer who confirmed the master cylinder is bad & must be replaced. Worse than that—it is back ordered and I am currently given an estimate of July for the replacement part. Hadn’t even made the first payment on my brand new vehicle before it had to be taken in and now I am without it for an unforeseen amount of time.
NHTSA #11663225
Started my car and several dashboard lights and service messages cane across the screen; forward collision unavailable, service ESC, service brake assist. Traction control light was also lit up.
NHTSA #11740271
We drove the Traverse 55 miles to a baseball game. When we got in the car to return home several warning lights appeared on the instrument display and there was an audible warning sound. The message “Service ESC” and “Brake assist failure” appeared on the instrument display panel. We couldn’t find a dealership that was open on Saturday so we cautiously drove 55 miles home. The brake pedal was hard to push and had to be pushed all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle. We could not drive faster than 62 MPH on the way home and I had to start braking early in order to be able to come to a complete stop at stop lights. Cruise control isn’t working either and the audible alarm sounds off every couple of minutes. We took the car to our local dealership this morning.
NHTSA #11734012
I turned my vehicle on and my brakes, ABS, traction control and anti collision lights all came on. Upon research this is a known problem in 2025 and a recall in 2024. It did in fact end up being the master cylinder and brake system that faulted
NHTSA #11717991
While driving on the interstate, the anti-collision system activated when a car swerved in front of the vehicle. The vehicle stopped and resulted in a brake failure after that. All brake warning lights came on the dash, message stating brake failure and drive with caution and limited speed was displayed. Brakes were no longer working properly.
NHTSA #11712724
My vehicle experienced a brake system failure that rendered it unsafe to drive and required it to be towed to the dealership. I have been informed by the dealer that the issue involves a failure of the left rear brake caliper. The vehicle is currently out of service at the dealership. Because this issue affects the braking system, it is a significant safety concern.
NHTSA #11710987
Emergency braking occurs at random, even if I'm the only vehicle / object on the roadway. This has been ongoing and has been to the dealership three times. It starts back up each time the vehicle gets an update. Adaptive cruise will brake hard due to false emergency braking, but does not always stop accelerating at the set point (has gone as high as 20 mph over the set point previously and brakes would not respond during). Vehicle was not starting and "press brake to start" warning was showing even though brake pedal was pressed. Brake master cylinder had to be replaced along with brake module. When picking the vehicle up afterward, warning light came while vehicle was warming up "service brake assist" and then shortly after the yellow-circled ABS dashlight came on. Dealership said this was a new problem and separate from the brake master cylinder and brake module.
NHTSA #11707128
I started the vehicle to move it to a different place in my driveway and after putting it in reverse, it notified me that the ABS was not working. I could not stop the vehicle without pressing the brakes very hard and even then it was still rolling backward slowly. I quickly put the vehicle in park before the car rolled into my house.
NHTSA #11705650
2025 Traverse ABS brake system failed, and master cylinder broke at 12K. All of the safety features, Lane Departure, Forward Crash detection, blind spot, automatic braking system all stop working with no signs that it was failing! Extremely unsafe! Traverse are meant to be family vehicles, well with major functions failures this kind of problem is going be recipe for disaster if not recalled ASAP.
NHTSA #11705982
My brakes, abs, front collision, esc light are on and dealership continue to try to fix and no luck. I have take 3 times in the last week with no luck. I need this fixed because I bought for safety features and now I have no vehicle to drive to work.
NHTSA #11704937
We drove the car to the store and everything was fine we went in to shop. We came back out and I turned the car on and my dash board had lights on. My brake light will not turn off . My ABS light is on. My forward collision light is on .. I am getting a notice to service ESC, and a separate one saying service brake assist . I ran a onstar diagnostic and it came back everything is good. I have not brought it into the dealership yet for them to look at it I will be calling . I have multiple children and I was so scared my brakes were fulling going to give out on my 20 min drive home. I couldn’t imagine what would have happened we could have hurt someone else on the road and ourselves.
NHTSA #11699759
The 2025 Chevy Traverse was purchased on 10/27/25 - new. On the morning of 10/31/25, several lights came on for service such as the brake, ABS, traction control and forward Collison. Through a quick google search, saw there are many issues with the master cylinder leading to brake issues. At this time, the car only has 535 miles. Prior to this incident, the car had no evident issues. I contacted my local dealership to set up an appointment to have the issue assessed and fixed. The appointment is scheduled for 11/5/25. I will not be able to drive the car in the mean time, as it poses a safety concern (brake failure) to my family and myself.
NHTSA #11696764
front collision system failed. ABS and traction control are now failing. My breaks gave out Yes No The failure happened the day the warning lights came on - 10/26/2025
NHTSA #11695705
While driving our 2025 Chevrolet Traverse with 9450 miles at 45 MPH, it suddenly came to a complete stop and would not advance. Eventually after restarting the vehicle it would drive again, but the ABS, collision avoidance, traction control, and emergency braking was disabled. We learned that the "master brake cylinder" failed. This requires a repair and the parts are backordered. Furthermore we learned this is a known common issue and there is a service warning for the 2024 Traverse and there is now a class action lawsuit. It apparently is also common on the 2025 traverse. This is a potentially dangerous situation that apparently is common and should prompt an immediate recall and replacement with a new and redesigned part. There are numerous reports of similar incidents and per the dealer this is a common repair.
NHTSA #11696788
a week after purchase with less than 300 miles and 5 days the ABS, Trac Control, ESC, lights came on.. The same TSB known to the 2024 Chev Traverse are happening to my car, the same parts suggested in that TSB are what I am being told is being replaced in mine... The TSB I found includes 2025 Buick Enclave and 2024 Traverse. Seems the 2025 is probably having the same issue. The brakes did not fail but the lights remained on, the sealer advised the car was unsafe to operate until the parts were replaced. I am in a loaner car under factory warranty of course but I think the TSB should be expanded to include 2025 Traverse as well.
NHTSA #11693295
The service ESC, service brake assist came on. The ABS light, Brake light, crash light and lane assist light are all on. The dealership said it is the Brake Master Cylinder and module with fluid that is the problem and it is on national back order.
NHTSA #11689834
Started 09/17/25: While braking, a front-end clunk or thud occurs. Directly afterwards, a cluster of warning lights appeared including Brake, ABS, Collision avoidance/forward collision, and Stabile track stability control) Brake pedal is now inconsistent and soft. Every time the brakes are activated, the thud or clunk occurs. When I start the vehicle, I get warning messages of Service Brake Assist, Service ESC on the dash that I must acknowledge. Called Hendricks Chevy Columbia SC on 9/18/25. Told to bring into dealership on 9/19/25. Dealership attempted diagnosis but could not. They bled brakes and reset all warning lights. I drove car approx. 10 miles and symptoms reoccurred, including all warning lights and thud/clunk. Called Dealership again and told to bring into on 9/22/25. It is now 9/23/25 and they have not diagnosed it yet. I was assigned a loaner car for 5 days.
NHTSA #11689166
The dashboard lights for the Braking, ABS, Electronic Control System, and Forward Collision Detection systems have remained illuminated. The vehicle cannot be driven due to the potential of brake failure.
NHTSA #11687375
The first component to fail was the brake booster module which controls the ABS, forward collision, adaptive braking, adaptive cruise, traction control system, etc. The malfunction started when the forward collision assist activated to prevent me from hitting a deer in the road. We avoided hitting the deer but all of those lights came on immediately. We contact Friendship Chevrolet the dealer we bought the car from had us bring it in to be checked. They confirmed the defective Module and said that it was a reported issue that GM had it's engineers looking at. They said they would have to wait for the part to arrive, advised that we could continue to drive the car even though there was a major malfunction with the critical braking systems. did not offer any type of loaner to ensure my family's safety. We had to wait for more than 30 days for them to receive the part and complete the repair still driving this unsafe vehicle because we had no other choice considering how high the MSRP & payment is on the vehicle. Once the repair was finally completed we immediately began to notice that the brakes were consistently screeching when in slow moving traffic like car rider pick up line. I reported the issue to the dealership and they gave me the answer that it was due to a more abrasive brake pad being used due to it being a passenger vehicle and it's weight. We continued to deal with the squeaking for months then we noticed a coolant leak. Dealership again said had to wait for part. After they did not contact me back I contacted GM and opened a case. When they got it in I also had them change the brakes out of my own pocket. Now the brakes squeak anytime pressure is applied and when coming to a complete stop they grind so loud you can hear and feel them digging in. GM still says nothing is wrong and brakes are a maintenance charge and are not covered for any reason. I feel the vehicle is still extremely unsafe and my family is at risk of possible crash.
NHTSA #11724373
Master cylinder needing replaced confirmed by dealer. ABS. Traction control forward emergency braking system service lights appear on dash and the systems are disabled saying service soon. Adaptive cruise control disabled super cruise disabled.
NHTSA #11686031
Suddenly with just over 8300 miles on the vehicle, lights for ABS, traction control, forward collision and parking brake all came on. The brake pedal started to feel spongy on the way to the dealership. The dealership replaced the master cylinder under warranty.
NHTSA #11682875
On Aug 15th, 2025 I went to pick up my children from school. As I picked up my child and turned the vehicle on to go pick up my second child, the car notified me on the dash board of 4 icons. Brake, ABS, traction and collision. Service ESC and Brake assist service needed. I was very concerned when I went to drive and when I gently eased into the brakes I could hear a small noise, every time I pressed the brakes. My second childs school is about 4 minutes away. I called Chevrolet dealership where I purchased it from in February, explained everything and they said i needed to take it in to a Chevrolet dealership near me. I called the nearest Chevy dealership and they said to bring it in the same day or the next day. Saturday Aug 16th, 2025 at 8am I was at the dealership. They checked to see what codes ran up and if it was safe to drive, they pulled 4 codes and told me it wasn't safe and I needed to leave it for 10-14 days minimum. They said they could not provide me a vehicle / loaner. I had already called Chevrolet Customer service the day before to receive assistance with a temporary vehicle as the dealership had told me they had no loaner to provide. I explained to Chevrolet Customer service that I am a disabled & handicap veteran with children. I do not have a secondary vehicle and it is a necessity as i drop off and pick up my children and attend medical appointments. The employee was able to open a case for me and send it to the regional person around my area. No one has called me. Today Saturday, I dropped off my vehicle and picked up a rental according to the guidelines provided by the Chevrolet employee for reimbursement a GM vehicle under $44 a day. This is a huge inconvenience , unacceptable from a new 2025 vehicle. Ot has put me in a hardship position financially. The hassle, my Traverse has handicap plates and my rental does not. Very upset and frustrated. I need as much support and help from GM / Chevrolet to resolve this SAFETY issue for my children.

Car had Service brake assist warning along with 3 or lights on dadhboard. I was told master brake cylinder needs replacing
NHTSA #11682788
While driving the automatic brake assist failure light came on. I was unable to stop at a very busy intersection and was forced into traffic even though I had a red light. The parking brake, engine light, and light came on.
NHTSA #11678190
We were told we had a faulty master cylinder that needed to be replaced. The ABS, forward collision braking system, rear collision breaking system, and emergency brake were all at risk, which puts a significant risk to the passengers in the vehicle, including children. The problem was confirmed by the dealership with no information about timing of replacement since there is a national shortage of this part. Warning messages included ABS, BRAKE, forward collision, rear collision- lights came on several times. They appeared suddenly after turning on the car without incident. We tried turning off the car and letting it sit for long periods of time without resolution. The dealership initially flushed the brake line without resolution.
NHTSA #11679013
Warning codes - Service Brake Assist, Service Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Forward Collision system unavailable. Brake pedal felt different with an associated clunk noise. Brake Fluid believed to have been leaking in garage. Dealer diagnosis as Master Brake Cylinder failure. No parts available/no ETA available. Car is 5 months old and under 5,000 miles on the odometer.
NHTSA #11678079
Began driving warning lights for brakes, abs, traction control, and forward collision on. Brakes then locked up. Pulled over and full lost brake compression. Could have caused an accident if on the highway. Waiting on tow truck to take to the dealership for repair.
NHTSA #11676379
Master Cylinder failure after less than 3 months of ownership and only 3,891 Miles. Multiple warnings lights related to brakes appeared when the car was started. GM already had a TSB for the 2024 Traverse but has not come out to say 2025 models are impacted yet. Multiple reports of people that do have the issue are waiting weeks for a replacement part because GM is not able to source them. Seems that there is a known issue but GM is just waiting for something to happen due to the lack of parts. Given it's the brakes could result is serious injury due to GMs negligence.

Purchased new 25 Traverse. Driving from AR to OK, stopped at a store, parked car. Upon returning to car, start ignition and red "BRAKE" light illuminated as well as ABS, Traction control and forward collision icons all lit. "Service brake assist, service esc, rear auto brake and park assist unavailable" warnings all show on the dash. Vehicle had 2747 miles at time this occurred. Systems check on dash showed all tires not registering on the vehicle and the vehicle icon illuminated orange. Vehicle needed to "relearn sensors." Vehicle has several clicking noises in the dash after shutting off. Vehicle brake pedal clicks when depressed at low speeds (as in driving in a parking lot) These noises and issues were not occurring prior to this vehicle stopping at the 2747 miles. Vehicle is unsafe to drive as this is the main stopping system, we were 300 plus miles from home when this happened.
NHTSA #11675292
Brake master cylinder ECU failed. Illuminated warning lights for BRAKE, FRONT END COLLISION AVOIDANCE, ABS, and ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. Took the vehicle to dealership and was told about the part failure. They advised that there was no ETA on parts that are on backorder. The codes were removed and the warning lights went off, but came back on the next day. I was told that the vehicle was drivable, but they could not guarantee my safety. The dealership had no loaners so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle home.

Our 2025 Chevrolet Traverse experienced a brake system failure on July 17th. We took the vehicle into the shop with the following errors on the screen: Service brake assist Service ESC Forward collision system unavailable My wife and children were in the car when the incident occurred. We have a 20 minute drive, through traffic, to the nearest dealership. At any point, the brakes could have completely failed. The problem is active as the car still remains at the dealership, Alan Jay Chevrolet of Wauchula. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, but by the qualified service staff at the dealership.
NHTSA #11677711
I started my Traverse and the brake light, forward collision alert, brake assist, stability control lights came on. The warning messages to service ESC, and service brake assist also came on. I have 2182 miles on my vehicle. No warning of anything wrong before this happened. It is available for inspection. It was towed to the closest dealership who determined the master cylinder needed replacing. I did not drive it due to warnings the brake systems were not functioning properly. Could have caused a wreck if they did not work. It has since been towed to the dealership it was purchased at awaiting their diagnosis. The first dealership said the master cylinder is on backorder with no ETA.

On 6/18/25 vehicle started displaying "Service braking system" and "service electronic stability control" warnings along with warning chimes and various malfunction indicator lights. Malfunction Indicator Lights included service brakes, ABS, and ESC. Vehicle taken to dealer service department on 6/18. Service department has replaced the battery and brake assist module, but the problem persists. GM says to replace the brake master cylinder, but no parts are available. Dealer has impounded the car as a safety concern and has provided a loaner vehicle. Because this involves the service brakes it is a safety concern.
NHTSA #11673290
Had lights on my dashboard when I turned it on the morning of 6/1/25. Brake light, traction, ABS, and forward collision. Cruise control also stopped working. Brake module needs to be replaced.
NHTSA #11670205
Four weeks after purchasing the vehicle the anti-lock brakes light, traction control and forward collision lights all came on. I took it to the dealership and was told this is a known issue with the master cylinder. My car was there for 13 weeks.
NHTSA #11682014
My car randomly started alerting me of “ECS service” & “Brake assist service”. The dealership essentially did nothing even though there is an active recall on the 2024 models.
NHTSA #11736611
Our car one day showed several illuminated dash lights regarding brake system, along with several pop up warnings. We took it to a Chevrolet dealer for service. They’ve had it for 54 days. They’ve confirmed widespread brake system and electrical system failure, but even after escalating to corporate tech assistance, there is no progress nor resolution available. We were told they have at least a dozen others with this same issue. It is wildly inappropriate that there has not been a recall issued as this is a serious safety defect. We demand a buyback from GM for putting this death trap on the market knowing they had these issues with 2024 models but continuing to roll 2025 and 2026 models with the same issues.
NHTSA #11745334
The vehicle has been brought to an authorized dealership for numerous service visits related to electrical system issues that ultimately affected the braking system. During one service visit, the vehicle was returned to me with multiple active dashboard warning lights illuminated related to the braking system, including Electronic Stability Control and Automatic Emergency Braking. I questioned the presence of these warning at pickup and was advised by the dealer that the vehicle was safe to drive and that the warnings would clear on their own. After driving the vehicle for a short period, I became uncomfortable continuing to operate it with brake-related warning lights still active and returned it to the dealer. Upon further diagnosis by a service technician, it was discovered that the vehicle has significant brake system defects requiring replacement of major components, including the brake control module and master cylinder. During diagnosis, the brakes locked and the parking brake would not disengage, rendering the vehicle undrivable. No collision or injury occurred. However, the vehicle was released to me with active brake system warnings and later found to have serious brake defects. Due to the safety-critical nature of the braking system and the repeated electrical and brake-related service history, I am reporting this for documentation and review.

NHTSA #11743927
The master cylinder and ABS braking system failed, rendering the vehicle inoperable and leaving my family stranded approximately 285 miles from home. This represents a serious safety defect, as the braking system malfunctioned while the vehicle was in operation. The dealership has confirmed the issue, and the vehicle has remained in their possession for over two weeks awaiting parts and repair. During the failure, multiple warning indicators illuminated, including the ABS, Service ESC, and brake system lights. Once the brake system engaged, I was unable to release it or drive the vehicle any further.
NHTSA #11694880
Parked the vehicle a Saturday evening went to get into it Sunday morning and the dash was lit up with abs light, service ESC, traction control, check engine light. Called the dealership I bought it from to tell them what was going on, brought it in on a Monday evening to be looked at Thursday. Was called to be informed the master cylinder went bad. Was told by the service manger part would be in to be fixed Wednesday. Wednesday came and gone with no call, finally got a call Thursday evening that the part did not arrive and NOW they have no ETA on the part.

The shark fin antenna cover became loose. The antenna then fell off at some point while driving. This coming off while driving poses a risk to others on the road as it may have fallen off and hit someone else. The only “warning” it gave was stating the emergency call system failure. When googling I found out what the problem may be from. After looking further there are multiple Chevy traverse owners with the same issue after going through a car wash.
NHTSA #11730298
Purchased the traverse January 10, 2026 with almost 26k miles on it. Approximately one month later, only 1200 miles or so into owning it, the shark fin antenna cover came off and is missing. It’s not the entire antenna that is hooked into the car, it’s only the plastic cover that covers up the electronics. This plastic piece randomly flying off the car put other motorists at risk, due to the plastic cover potentially striking another vehicles windshield distracting them from keeping their eyes on the roadway, striking another motorists vehicle causing damage to said vehicle, or even striking a person walking down the street potentially resulting in physical harm! I have talked with GM dealerships about this issues along with reading that numerous people have had the same issue, and they have yet to fix the problem.
NHTSA #11718930
The component that failed was the "shark fin" antenna cover. This houses the radio signal and hands free driving signals. The shark fin can be a safety concern if the cover fall off at higher speeds. The problem was reported to the dealer but was told it wasn't covered under warranty. It wasn't covered because according to them, I drive my car through automatic car washes. The antenna cover is not properly glued or clipped correctly. There has been no car failures or messages. It can cause other issues since the antenna is now exposed. Cannot give a clear answer on when the cover fell off I noticed it early December.
NHTSA #11710017
The antenna fin became detached and flew off as I was driving posing a risk to other drivers on the road. I was on an open highway when this happened. There was no damage to the fin prior to this.
NHTSA #11692644
The cap to the antennae flew off the car. This could have potentially impacted a car driving behind me, a car passing me, and/or hit a pedestrian walking. There was no warning. The part has since been replaced however the dealer indicated other vehicles are having this issue.
NHTSA #11706445
The antenna cover (shark fin) on the roof of the vehicle detached while driving and flew off. Looking at the piece that flew off, the clips that are made to clip in and keep it attached to the roof broke off somehow and seemed to be very weak where some were still attached. The safety of other vehicles are put at risk by it being unexpected flying debris and could potentially hit a vehicle/motorcycle following behind or debris is the roadway. My dealer specifically has not seen many, but when researching online, it’s is a very common issue with the 2024 and 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. My vehicle was brought to my dealership and a person from the body shop will attempt to attach it back for a temporary fix until the issue can be resolved and not have to pay hundreds of dollars for something that the vehicle owner had no control over breaking. There was no warning of this attachment breaking off, nor should it be something that a vehicle owner should have to worry about replacing six months in of purchasing a brand new vehicle.

While driving with the front windows all the way up and the back windows all the way down at 60mph or higher the door panels vibrate real bad like they want pop off from the frame of the car, which is unacceptable. Driving home coming up to a traffic light - I turned left onto Rd - After turning lost the brakes. Saw message on dashboard along with many others indicators as well. Saw the same message as the previous time ““Brake Assist failure. Press hard to brake. Speed Limited”.
NHTSA #11708980
Driving home - what looked like warning indicators on the dashboard, came on. Lost the ability to brake. Had to push the pedal all the way to the floor to get some braking to happen. A message came on the dashboard “Brake Assist failure. Press hard to brake. Speed Limited”. Once we were able to stop. We turned the car off. then turned it back on. On June 10th I drove my vehicle to work downtown Cleveland (no issues). Got home around 1 pm and had to leave at 3:30 to get my daughter from school. As I got in my vehicle I started to go in reverse and received all of those notifications and my brakes went completely out and I had to slam it to the floor to stop it was so scary and I thank god I wasn’t on the road or with my children!! I called the dealership the next day and they finally had my vehicle towed on the 12th of June. Once my car was there “the error messages disappeared and it was fine”. I did not feel safe taking the car back so they kept it another day and had the technician driving it around, still nothing until he washed the vehicle then it happened. After doing a ton of my own research others have stated the 2025 traverse has the same issue and they had to get the master cylinder replaced so I mentioned this to them at the dealership. The lady called me back and said I was right. They put me through Hertz for a rental and I found out today they didn’t even order the part until the 20th. This is very frightening and should be a recall immediately! I can’t imagine if I was driving 70 mph and this happened I could’ve died or killed someone else!

The roof-mounted antenna (shark fin style) detached from my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse (approx mileage:7,500) during normal use. This should not occur on a new vehicle, and I have seen multiple other owners of the same model year reporting the same issue. If the antenna were to detach while driving, it could create a safety hazard to other vehicles on the road. My vehicle is scheduled for dealer inspection, but I believe this should be documented as a potential defect.

This vehicle had 19500miles on it when we picked it up at the airport rental agency. It was 2WD model. We used it for 2200 miles on a family vacation and 95% of this was interstate highways. Smooth road surfaces. The travel conditions were sunny hot, dry. There were 6 passengers and a decent amount of luggage. Rear cargo area still had foot or more of space though so it was not stuffed like for a beach trip. At one point after getting on the highway from on ramp, there was a horrible sound. It got louder and louder quickly and caused us to panic. My husband looked in all the mirrors. He said it sounded like a Peterbilt semi was barreling down on our ass. But there was none in the mirrors. He quickly let off the gas pedal during this and the sound went away. As we sped up again though, it did the same thing and this time even louder. Starting around 72mph. Something was resonating in the body or powertrain of the car and it seemed like it was about to come apart! We did a check quickly, all of the windows were completely up, the AC was on. The radio was off. He slowed back down, the sound went away. But for 3rd time of trying to reach 75mph, the whomping sound came back and was so intense, it was debilitating and he almost could not hear me talking. We didn't know what to do. He braked immediately to pull off to the side. On a busy highway. After we stopped he got out to look at the tires but we did not a have tire pressure gage. They seemed perfectly normal. He looked under car, in wheel wells, opened the hood with the engine running, shook the car from side to side. Nothing was found loose or hanging down. After this, we could hear the same type of sound at 54mph, 60mph, and between 72-77mph , it all came down to what RPM and gear the transmission was in. This seems like a total design flaw in the chassis or power train. We told the rental agency that no one should be using or buying this car until the issue was fixed.

Initially, the engine would intermittently fail to start and at times would not start at all. I took the vehicle to a certified Chevrolet service center, where the battery was tested and found to be functioning properly. They later concluded that a faulty front-view camera was disrupting the electrical system and ordered a replacement (my first visit was Friday, 9/26/25). I took the car home for the weekend due to family obligations. On Monday, 9/29, while driving back to the service center, the engine suddenly shut off on a local road. The brakes went completely to the floor for 3–5 seconds before the engine restarted—just before I nearly collided with another vehicle at a red light. I reported this immediately, and the dealership kept the car for further testing. On Thursday, 10/2, they informed me they found no additional issues and believed the camera was the root cause. However, the problem persisted. On Sunday, 10/5, while stopped at a red light at Hawthorn St. and Memorial Dr., the engine shut off again as I began to accelerate. The brakes sank to the floor, and I had no steering control for approximately 5–7 seconds before the vehicle restarted. My wife and I were extremely shaken, especially with our children in the car. On Monday, 10/6, we contacted roadside assistance to tow the vehicle back to the service center. After additional testing, we were informed that the battery had failed this time and was replaced. However, replacing the battery does not reassure us that the engine and braking system will not fail again while driving, or the brake failure would happen again when the battery is low - which poses a serious safety risk to our family. When my wife called GM to report this issue, all they offered was 200 points worth of rewards....We originally bought this car for safety, but not this has been compromised and we no longer feel safe. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am happy to provide any additional information if needed.

August 6, 2025 I was driving and it started to rain and there was a little rain on the road and my vehicle appeared to be hydroplaning. I had never experienced that before and it scared me to the point that I reduced my speed significantly. I arrived at my destination and was there for about three hours and when I started my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse I had 4 lights come on my dashboard along with a warning chime. The lights were the BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, FORWARD COLLISION ASSIST LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT; and a Service ESC and Service Brake Assist message popped up in separate boxes from the lights themselves. I turned off my Traverse and hoped it was some fluke thing and again the same lights came on and same messages. I drove my vehicle home cautiously and parked it. I called the dealer I purchased it from the following morning and was given a service appointment 11 days out and I stated that was unacceptable since I was not sure the vehicle was safe to drive from everything I was reading online. The service dept stated that they could place it on a machine if I stopped into the dealership and let me know if was safe to drive. My husband drove it to the dealership 25 miles away and wasn't happy with the service department and spoke to a manager and he stated they would look at my vehicle the following day and gave me a loaner. My husband advised the manager that everything I had been reading pointed to an issue with the master brake cylinder and the parts are on backorder and the manager said he hadn't heard of any issues with them. I received a call 4 days later after asking the status of my new car repeatedly and was told that it is the master brake cylinder and a couple of the parts are on backorder and they don't know when they will arrive; could be a week, two or a month. I am extremely concerned about the seriousness of this issue and the lack of parts to repair the vehicle. As I stated, there are multiple incidents on google over this same issue.

Same day called GM customer service and opened a case, the dealer gives me a rental car to use until the repair is finished. At the end of the same week I called again GM customer service asking about news and the parts was back ordered, they told me to wait 5 business days for a possible repurchase or for any updates for parts. Today 07/31/2025 I called again GM and they said that the parts were shipped but they didn’t had the tracking number, I called my dealer and the parts are in back order without eta.

8/4/25 Vehicle was pulling from side road to main highway when lights and warnings came on dash cluster. brakes were very soft and not very responsive, car was slowed down on its own. Was able to pull into a driveway and take photos of some of the messages. One said service traction control, one said service ASC, and one said ‘brake assist fail, press hard to brake, speed reduced. After restarting car all was normal. 8/11/25. Sitting in some morning traffic and all the same messages came up and brakes were soft again. Was able to keep some distance between myself and other cars until I could get off the road. Immediately made an appointment for dealership service. After restarting car, all was normal again. Took car to dealership at appointed time and they kept it for a week and only did test drives to try and recreate problem. When they couldn’t they returned the vehicle to me with nothing done but clearing codes and checking for updates. This is unacceptable. I am hauling my precious grandchildren in a brand new vehicle that could have a braking failure at any time. Obviously braking failures can cost lives. There is a GM service bulletin for this exact problem in December 2024 (N242482170) requesting the master cylinder should be replaced. This service bulletin doesn’t extend to the 2025 Traverse model and it should as the problems are exactly the same. I hope this can be resolved. I’m very uneasy driving now and just keep wondering when this will happen again and how bad it could be.

Brake light, ABS light, Forward collision light and Traction control light all come on when the car was started. Had to be towed to Woody Folsom dealership in Baxley, GA and is currently still there. Was told it was the brake master cyclinder and it is on nationwide backorder. The part came in this week and they put it in and could not get the car to program. They are waiting for another brake master cyclinder to arrive. So I am at 8 weeks of the car being down and in service at the dealership with no estimated date of when and if it can be fixed. I have received Onstar notifications that says A critical issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2025 Chevrolet Traverse has been detected. The battery in your 2025 Chevrolet Traverse is critically low.

ABS and ESC and brake lights came on. Collision beeping and warning went out. Brake pedal vey late to respond to braking. This vehicle is unsafe. It has been sitting and the Chevy dealer for 2 weeks now with no information given to me about when it will be fixed. I call the dealer every other day and they just say that Chevy will be shipping parts. This is clearly a nation wide problem with this vehicle. I’ve read numerous articles online about people with the same problem and have contacted an attorney

As I was driving my 2025 Traverse Z71, at 2180 miles, different lights popped up on the dashboard. I was backing out of my garage when it happened. Lights were ABS, BRAKE, Electronic Stability Control, and pre-collision warning light. Also notifications for Service Brake Assist and Service ESC also came on. The dealer had me drive it to their shop 25 miles away. After inspection, the Chevrolet service department said it was unsafe to drive my Traverse. The part they needed to replace was the Master Cylinder/Brake System Control Module. Unfortunately the part was on backorder and they did not have a loaner I could borrow. I turned in my vehicle Wednesday, June 25, 2025. I got my Traverse back Thursday, July 24, 2025. It was very close to 30 days and I would have followed guidelines for lemon law in state of WI. When I picked up the vehicle, there were several other Traverses waiting on the same part. As of now July, 30th, vehicle is in working order.

I go to turn on the car on a Friday night and it won’t turn on. I got multiple failures and it said fatal errors take to dealer immediately. I brought the car to the dealer and they said the control panel needs to be replaced and they’re estimating at least a month. I’m one of four cars on a lot that need work for the same exact issue.

Vehicle: 2025 Chevrolet Traverse On [XXX] at approximately [XXX], while driving south on [XXX] , my vehicle suddenly shut off without warning resulting in a complete electrical failure. During this event, I lost the ability to accelerate, activate hazard lights, unlock doors, open or close windows, or use the OnStar system. The vehicle restarted briefly but then shut off two additional times before I could safely move it off the road. There were no warning messages or signals prior to this incident. This created a serious and immediate safety hazard, as I was unable to alert other drivers or exit the vehicle during the failure. I am requesting a formal investigation into this issue, documentation as a safety defect, and immediate corrective action. This incident poses a significant risk to driver and passenger safety. The vehicle has been towed to the dealership it was purchased from. The problem has not been confirmed or reproduced by the service center. NHTSA Defect Report (Initial Portal Filing) Manufacturer Target: General Motors (GM) Filer: [XXX] Classification: Mechanical Defect & Administrative Evasion Narrative for Submission I am filing this formal defect report regarding a catastrophic, systemic safety failure present in the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse architecture (VIN: [XXX]), manufactured by General Motors. The vehicle was originally purchased at AutoNation Timonium. THE SAFETY DEFECT AND TELEMETRY PROOF On March 18, 2026, the vehicle suffered a total failure of the transmission and drivetrain systems. It was immediately surrendered to Preston Chevrolet, where it remained completely out of service for 34 consecutive days. GM's own OnStar Diagnostic Telemetry automatically dispatched critical fault alerts while the vehicle was stranded, explicitly logging the following irrefutable failure codes: DTC U1962 (PCM - Engine and Transmission System): Warning stated: "System transferring power to the drive wheels not performing as expected." This indicates a catastrophic decoupling or failure to transfer motive power. If this failure occurs at highway speeds, it results in a total loss of propulsion, creating an extreme rear-end collision hazard. DTC U0452 (VIU - OnStar System): A simultaneous failure in the Wireless Communication and Safety system, meaning that when the drivetrain catastrophically fails, the vehicle's automated emergency SOS and crash-reporting telemetry is actively blocked or compromised. ELEVATION TO ADMINISTRATIVE EVASION General Motors and its authorized dealer network were provided with formal written notice of this defect. The 30-day statutory right to cure window fully expired without any mechanical resolution. Rather than deploying engineering solutions to rectify the severe safety defects they released into the public domain, GM has instead deployed aggressive legal maneuvers designed to evade accountability. No existían advertencias previas.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle shifted into LIMP Mode, causing the vehicle to decelerate unintendedly. During the failure the headlights and the interior lights flashed and flickered, and the ABS, traction control, and several unknown messages were displayed. While depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal extended to the floor and the vehicle failed to immediately stop. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who recharged the battery and performed a software update to the Crucial Control Module. The contact stated that three weeks later the same failure had reoccurred. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,995.

I own a 2025 GMC Traverse purchased in July 2025. The vehicle is experiencing ongoing electrical system issues. The GPS and OnStar systems are inoperative, including vehicle location services. The vehicle cannot connect to OnStar or detect a Wi-Fi connection. In addition, the adaptive cruise control is not functioning properly. These systems have been inoperative for approximately 4 weeks. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and I was informed that parts are required, but no repair timeline has been provided. The loss of GPS, OnStar emergency services, and adaptive cruise control presents a safety concern, as emergency response, vehicle tracking, and driver assistance features are unavailable while driving. The issue remains unresolved.

A car approached my blind spot and the blind spot detection did not alert. I tried to change lanes assuming the system was functioning and nearly ran someone off the road. Shortly after this the “service blind spot detection light” came on. Following this failure the vehicle telematics went out rendering the paid on star safety system useless. Parts to remedy the issue on indefinite back order per GM on 12/8/25.

While driving the steering wheel will intermittently lock up or make it where you cannot turn the steering wheel at all. The collision sensors will go off and cause vehicle to lock the brakes up when you’re not even close to anything. Also, random messages will appear in dash as shift to neutral while driving ect. See pictures.

I was in t-boned on the passenger side of my vehicle. All side air bags went off but did not deflate. I had to crawl onto my floor to get out of the vehicle. Also when the emergency collision park kicked in it locked my doors so had I been unconscious I would have been locked in the car.

Name: [XXX] •Address: [XXX] •Phone: [XXX] •Email: [XXX] Date of Incident: October 7, 2025 Description of Problem: While driving our 2025 Chevrolet Traverse on October 7, 2025, our son was sitting in the third-row seat and somehow managed to buckle two seatbelts at once—one from the right side and one from the left—crossing them over his chest and neck. Once both belts were latched, they locked in place. When we tried to loosen one side, the opposite side only tightened further, causing him to be choked. We tried multiple ways to release the seatbelts, but the locking mechanism prevented any movement. Several adults tried to help, but no one could free him. We ultimately had to cut one of the seatbelts to safely release him. He was left with visible red marks on his neck, and the incident caused significant fear and distress. The seatbelts were crisscrossed, which explains why attempting to loosen one side made the other side tighten. This appears to be a dangerous design issue, as there was no safe or quick way to release the belts in this situation. We are deeply concerned that this design could pose a serious strangulation hazard to children or other passengers in the future. Attachments: •Photos showing the crisscrossed seatbelts •Photos showing the red marks on the neck after the incident We request that NHTSA review this complaint to determine if this is a vehicle safety defect and take any appropriate action to prevent similar incidents from occurring. Service ESC & Brake Assist lights came on after only 4 months with the vehicle. The vehicle also abruptly slammed on the automatic brakes when backing into a parking spot with no obstacle present prior to the service lights indicating any issues. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder nearly two weeks ago, but the part is still on national backorder and will be stuck at the dealership for an undetermined amount of time with no loaners available. There are plenty other accounts of this same issue happening to other newly-bought '25 Traverses, and the N242482170 bulletin related to the '24 model hints at this being a recurring issue. This safety issue on a brand new vehicle without recognition/resolve is unacceptable.

I purchased a 2025 Chevy Traverse in April 2025. The car had under 1056 miles on it. I was in another state 325 miles away from home when lights came on in the car. The PARK brake came on, the ABS light came on and a few others. The alert said, Service ESC, and service Brake Assist. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? We did research online and there were 33 other complaints from people with similar complaints. They reported that it was a master cylinder part and the dealers don’t have the part in stock. It could take up to two weeks for the part. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and my husband’s safety were at risk because we had to drive the car home. Our lives were at risk if the brakes failed. We took it to Key Motors a Chevy dealership in S. Burlington, VT. He said they would have to diagnose it themselves and the part could take two weeks or more. We cut our vacation short and could not stay in VT that long. We are elderly and did not have enough medicine, not to mention the cost of hotels. The VT dealer said without the computer, the car defaults to the driver like a 1980’s car. We took our chances and drove it home. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, but many people online have complained of the same problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? We had it towed to our local dealership, Bob Johnson Chevrolet. They just sent us a bill for $214 for certified multi point vehicle inspection. I still don’t know what problem. Onstar diagnosed it as ABS braking and stability diagnostic code; an issue has been detected in the Antilock Braking System. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No other warnings or symptoms before messages appeared.

My Traverse prompted me to do an update - I did- and all my cameras stopped working- took to dealership - they tried to do a Manuel update and locked up the whole system- and the USB’s stopped working - 4 weeks later waiting on new system and no answer in site for when parts will be in - contacted GM and they escalated issue - told to be patient - just made my 3rd payment - I want a new car not a traverse - want them to buy back their lemon - after reading all the issues shame on GM for ignoring all these complaints

While using self driving on a decided highway I came up on a slower moving vehicle. I was at a 65 mph speed. The turn signal for a left turn came on. My vehicle changed lanes to pass. As I got along side the other vehicle it increased speed. We were then side by side at the same speed. I waited to see what my vehicle was going to do. It then turned on the right turn signal. I believe if I didn’t grab the steering wheel my vehicle would have turned into the other vehicle. Clearly the sensors didn’t detect the car next to me. Thank you for considering this.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH during a road trip, the ABS warning light illuminated upon depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the messages "Control Module Performance Warning" and "Forward Collision Alert System" were displayed. The contact continued driving, and the brake pedal and steering wheel became stiff. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. The message "Do Not Drive the Vehicle over 62 MPH" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was partially diagnosed that the brake plunger motor temperature was too high, and there was a braking performance failure. The dealer reset unknown sensors, and the contact and his family drove to the destination. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 913.

The transmission system on my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse began showing signs of failure approximately 2–3 months after purchase. Symptoms include erratic shifting, gear hesitation, and sporadic power loss while driving. Although the issue was promptly reported to Chevrolet headquarters, I was unable to bring the vehicle to the dealer earlier due to the lack of available loaner vehicles. The car is now at the dealership and has been there for nearly three weeks without any updates or contact from the service team. The transmission is available for inspection, and documentation of the issue exists. The malfunction has created safety risks during normal driving, including delayed acceleration when merging into traffic and unexpected gear disengagement at speed. These conditions compromise vehicle control and increase the likelihood of a collision. Additionally, the vehicle produces a persistent squeaky noise from the accelerator pedal during operation, which could indicate underlying mechanical stress or a deeper linkage issue. The sound is both distracting and concerning, especially during highway driving or sudden acceleration attempts.

Beginning in May 2025, my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse began exhibiting a false “rear liftgate open” condition when the liftgate is fully closed. This defect triggers a continuous audible alarm that occurs before every drive and persists for the entire duration of the drive, stopping only when the vehicle is turned off. As a result of this defect, the rear windshield wiper and washer are disabled, eliminating rear visibility during rain and snow. The vehicle alarm system also cannot be armed, creating a security risk. The continuous alarm causes significant driver distraction, and the loss of rear visibility impairs safe operation of the vehicle, particularly in adverse weather. Minor children are frequent passengers, and the defect has occurred while they were in the vehicle. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Chevrolet dealership on four separate occasions for the same issue. Multiple repair attempts, including diagnostics, software updates, component replacement, and latch assembly replacement, have failed to correct the defect. Because the alarm cannot be armed, the vehicle was left unsecured and was subsequently broken into, resulting in theft of personal property. General Motors has been notified and declined repurchase, directing me back to repeated diagnostics despite the unresolved safety-related defect.
