Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL:ACCESSORY SCISSOR/SCREW/BOTTLE JACK/LIFT:STAND

NHTSA #21V440000

General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Buick Encore GX and 2021-2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. The emergency jack, if not positioned as directed in the vehicle owner's manual, can fracture while in use.

Reported consequence: A fractured jack can cause the vehicle to collapse, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the jack, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owner of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 26, 2021. A second notice will be mailed once remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A212335470.

Complaints Filed with NHTSA

The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.

I used the jack for the first time of buying the vehicle new. I jacked the vehicle up to put the spare on and the scissor jack folded up and the car dropped. So I looked up if there was a recall on it and there isn't but there is on other vehicles. Note: the car was on level hard surface ground and I placed the jack in the correct location.

When car is shifted to park it doesn't let the car turn off. There is a message to shift the car to park when it is in park

The bolts attaching my muffler to my exhaust pipe sheared off of my 30,000 mile 2022 chevy trailblazer at highway speed, launching them into my muffler. My exhaust pipe dropped-at 70 miles an hour it could have ripped off, and I am lucky the bolts went into my muffler and not something more vital. Also, If the pipe or muffler had fallen, I-or someone behind me- could have run over it causing potential control issues. I am seeing that this is a common problem on various consumer forums. There was NO warning- didn't even get a check engine light after the fact- things just got REALLY loud. I was fortunate to be close to an exit (as I was in a construction zone) and was able to get a tow to the nearest dealership.

hift to park The vehicle began to display 'Shift to Park' on the display even after the vehicle was in the park position. By shifting back out of park and back into park, but that became less effective as time went on. The vehicle will not shutdown fully when this warning is displayed and therefore can cause a battery drain condition, which can result in a safety risk returning to a vehicle with a weak or dead battery. Vehicle has only 23,478 miles. In researching to understand the problem, I discovered that there are many instances of this same issue occurring at about the same time period, as well as there being several class action lawsuits on the identical issue, which shows that it isn't isolated.

NHTSA #11666737

Issue: When the vehicle is put into park and the ignition is turned off, the vehicle may not recognize that it is in park and a message will appear. This can make it difficult to turn off the ignition and remove the key. The “Shift to Park” message appears in the Driver Information Center of my 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. The cause of this is a malfunction in the park switch inside the shifter assembly of my Chevy Trailblazer. My local Chevy dealer advised me that some vehicles are getting recalls for this issue, however my vehicle has not. There are currently two Class Action Lawsuits pending on this issue - one in Tennessee and one in Ohio. I would just like my repair to fall under a recall since there are so many issues throughout the United States on this part it does not seem fair that I should have to pay almost $500.00 (Parts and labor) for something Chevy knows is defective.

NHTSA #11629605

I get a "Shift to Park" error message even though the car is in the park position as all indicator says it's in park. If I wiggle the shifter it would go away and come back on when i drive it again. On November 1st I came home from work and it would go off at all, I tried everything, wiggling the shifter, put in drive and back in park took if for ride around the block and it still would go off even after 20 minutes. My husband had to remove one of the battery terminal so the battery would die. It did reset it for a few days but now it's back. I reported the issue to the dealer the first time it happen but they can't get me for 3 weeks. This is a hazer if it doesn't go off as I can't lock my car and my husband isn't always with me especially when I go to work.

NHTSA #11623842

When I shift into park and turn the engine off a warning signal and bell goes off, telling me to put the car into park, when I have already done so. This has happened three times. 09/30/24 10/14/24 10/2824

NHTSA #11623597

Car is not registering when it is not in park. This should be covered under the warranty or a recall as it is a common issue for this vehicle.

NHTSA #11613385

when parking vehicle, warning comes on to place vehicle in park although it already is. Engine will shut off, but dash will not and it continuously dings. This causes the battery to die. This happens every time I drive my trailblazer and the dealership states there is no quick fix but to continue trying to put it in park repeatedly until alert goes away. Through research GM and Chevy vehicles have had this same issue for many years with no recall. I demand a recall as this is a safety issue after being stranded due to battery dying if alert is unable to be cleared with workarounds.

NHTSA #11598568

Shift Park issue - I bought the car 10 days ago and now start to have an issue when I park the car, put the car in the parking mode and turn off. The car doesn’t turn off as the message shift park is on. I need to turn on again, move, go back, change for drive and park and finally allow me to turn it off. I read it’s a common issue in 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazers.

NHTSA #11570639

Car will not allow me to fully turn off vehicle, keeps sending message “shift to park”.

NHTSA #11568066

“shift to park” on my dash screen preventing me from locking my car and the accessories all remain on. I have to disconnect my battery otherwise my car dies if it remains on. I reconnect the battery regardless of how long it has been disconnected and the same shift to park issue reappears this first happened 10/24/23 and again today 10/26/23

NHTSA #11551977

Again on 7/15/23 while coming back from North Carolina the AC unit stopped working. It is only blowing out warm arm. We stopped at the South Carolina welcome center to shut the car off and see if that corrected it. It didn’t. It is scheduled to go into the dealership on Wednesday 7/19/23. I had OnStar run a diagnostic on it to see if anything showed up and was told nothing came up to explain why the AC UNIT stopped working.

NHTSA #11532466

When I park my car, I get a warning to "shift to park" even though my car is in park. This prevents me from turning off my car.

NHTSA #11533316

On 7/8/23 while taking a trip to North Carolina the AC unit stopped working. I was struggling to do anything and making a rattling noise. This occurred from 7am-3pm. We had shut the vehicle off many times to see if that would allow the AC to begin working normally again and it did nothing until 3pm.

NHTSA #11531787

Upon shutting off the ignition, my car tells me to "shift to park" each time and it is already in park. Takes several minutes for it to finally register that is already in park.

NHTSA #11531404

When vehicle is in park and you try to shut it off, you get the error message “Shit to Park” and you are unable to shut the vehicle off. You have to switch between the gears a few times before the vehicle shuts off. I’ve done this a few times and have even been late for work because the car won’t shut off.

NHTSA #11538109

The front exhaust assembly is leaking. There’s many reports online for the same year and vehicle about bolts rusting out. Some still under warranty (36,000 miles, ridiculous!), and some not, like mine. I have 36,800 miles, of course out of warranty. GM has a problem with these exhaust systems, and should be recalled. Thank you

NHTSA #11725509

Vehicle displayed "Shift to Park" error and would not shut off. This occurs after the shifter is placed in the park position. By any standard, a defective component that prevents the car from being shut off is an extreme safety concern and needs immediate attention. Additionally, the instrument panel remains illuminated and the aux power items continue to function. This has happened multiple times and has drained the battery on several occasions.

NHTSA #11687432

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while in park(P), the gear failed to shift into the intended gear. The contact wiggled the gear shifter for the vehicle to recognize that the gear shifter was shifted out of park. The shift to park error was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 32,700.

Alert for shift to park keeps alerting after already in park. I have to turn car on and off at least 20xs to get notice to shut off . I cannot leave car with notice on dash screen or it will beep at me and drain battery. I went to service at Chevy and they told me this isn’t a recall and the part I need is a new shifter and it will cost me money on a 3 yr old car to fix with 14000 miles. I am extremely upset because the part is unavailable and no estimate when I can get it fixed. I’ve been dealing with this for a few months and it take me 20mins off and restarting to get error to go away. I need answers !

Shift to Park is Displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC) When Vehicle attempting to turn vehicle off. This is a known issue to manufacturer, but not warrantied fixes are being offered. (TSB 23-NA-119)

NHTSA #11624529

Shift Control Assembly (Shift to Park Issue) I bought a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer custom, and around 57,550 miles it started throwing a shift to park error message. This does not allow me to turn my car off complete as it does not recognize it’s in park. It has been looked at by Dealer and parts are back ordered no known fix for it. This is a well known issue from Chevrolet but they only cover it under bumper to bumper and not Powertrain, but everywhere I read it’s a Powertrain issue. This will drain my battery inhibiting my ability to use my vehicle which is only 2 years old. This could be a safety concern since the car isn’t recognizing it’s in park therefore not allowing it to shutdown and leaving electricity running through it all the time. Let alone a huge hassle for the drivers of the vehicle.

NHTSA #11624108

The contact’s daughter owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that on several occasions when shifted to park(P), the gear shift indicator failed to show the vehicle in park(P). The contact stated that the gear shifter was slammed into park(P) until park was registered on the shift indicator. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.

NHTSA #11623053

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the message to “Shift to Park” was displayed with an audible chime sounding. The vehicle was restarted several times until the message had disappeared. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,300.

I am having issues with putting car in park. Keeps showing not in park and will not shut off until I yank on handle. Getting worse & taking so long. Took to dealership and they said probably the harness and would cost $400 to $600 to fix. My research shows they have had this issue since 2018!! Only recall I could find was in Ohio. I feel angry they still keep using a defective part and expect us to pay to fix. I am older and on fixed income & don't have the money. Also why should I when it's their ongoing issue. I'm scared of this not letting me shut off car till I run out of gas!!

When parking and trying to shutoff vehicle a warning stating that the car needs to be shifted into park needs to be performed even though it is already properly in the parked position. The car cannot be shutoff and remains running until several actions of shifting the car in and out of the park position.

NHTSA #11706944

The vehicle began to display 'Shift to Park' on the display even after the vehicle was in the park position. This started periodically over a few days, but then became a regular occurrence within a week. At first this could be resolved by shifting back out of park and back into park, but that became less effective as time went on. The vehicle will not shutdown fully when this warning is displayed and therefore can cause a battery drain condition, which can result in a safety risk returning to a vehicle with a weak or dead battery. This occurred at 37 months of ownership with ~28,100 miles on the vehicle. In researching to understand the problem, I discovered that there are many instances of this same issue occurring at about the same time period, as well as there being several class action lawsuits on the identical issue, which shows that it isn't isolated. Further, the cost of this repair is a replacement of the shifter assembly at nearly $700 on a $24,000 vehicle less than 3 years old, because the failed inexpensive switch isn't repairable. Repair information is available, but the system isn't allowing for an upload of the files.

NHTSA #11665244

I am reporting a recurring “Shift to Park” malfunction with my 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. When I shift the vehicle into Park and attempt to turn it off, the dashboard displays a “Shift to Park” message, and the vehicle remains in Accessory Mode rather than shutting down completely. The vehicle continues drawing electrical power and the battery drains overnight. This condition poses several serious safety risks: 1.The vehicle may not consistently detect or hold the Park position, creating a potential roll-away hazard. 2.It prevents the driver from shutting off or locking the vehicle, leading to security and electrical safety concerns. 3.If the vehicle remains powered in an enclosed area, it increases the risk of carbon-monoxide exposure. I understand this issue has been widely reported by owners of late-model GM vehicles, and appears related to a defective park/position switch or shifter assembly. I request a thorough investigation, appropriate repair, and confirmation whether this defect falls under a service bulletin or recall.

The cruise control system intermittently fails to engage indicating an error with the system. After several random occasions it was finally determined that the issue is related to the brake pedal sensor not determining that the brake pedal has been fully released. It requires having to manually pull the brake pedal up to properly set the sensor to allow the cruise control system to engage. This does not present any clear danger in itself, however, after having the vehicle inspected the manufacturer service center states that the entire pedal assembly has to be replaced because of worn parts and that the pedal may continue to get worse. While the mileage has taken the vehicle out of warranty that covers this issue the car is primarily driven on the interstate with minimal wear and tear on the pedal assembly.

NHTSA #11706947

For about a month now my vehicle is telling me to put it in park when it is already in park. Have to restart multiple times and go through all the gears put it back in park turn it off and still get the "shift to park" error. It does not happen every time I use my vehicle, but it happens so much I am unsure if it is safe to use. Even though it shows it is in park I wonder is it really? I have called the dealer where I purchased it for them to look at it and they will not even schedule an appointment because they say the parts are on back order and they have no idea when they will get them. This is the first brand new car I have purchased and after having a lot of secondhand vehicles I went back to Chevy. I am very disappointed in Chevy it only has 23000 miles on it, and they are not doing anything to fix this, I would not recommend Chevy/GMC to anyone.

NHTSA #11619117

When putting vehicle in park and turning the car off, getting message to place vehicle in park and car "dinging." This started about 2 weeks ago and was intermittent, now it's every time I put the car in park and takes me about 5 minutes of turning the car on and off, placing in park before it finally registers the vehicle is in park.

NHTSA #11614773

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, a "Shift to Park" message was displayed on the instrument panel while shifting the vehicle to park(P). After turning off the vehicle, the message continued to flash on the instrument panel with a warning chime coming from the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was instructed to have a diagnostic test performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

NHTSA #11611352

Bought last year in November. Starting having "Shift to park" alert when car was in fact, in park. Took me 5 minutes to successfully turn my car off. It happens intermittently and at first it was just one and done, now (after about a week) it's almost every time I park. It's very frustrating. I called the dealership and they can't get me in for 2 weeks. Unsure if they will be able to diagnose/fix the problem.

NHTSA #11547445

WHEN YOU SHIFT TO PARK A MESSAGE COMES UP AND SAYS SHIFT TOPARK WHEN IT IS ALREADY IN PARK. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THE VEHICHCLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF. YOU HAVE TO DO MANY DIFFERANT THINGS TO TRY TO GET THE MESSAGE TO LEAVE AND THEN IT WILL CUT OFF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING NOW SINCE IT HIT 29700 MILES AND DOES IT ALMOST EVERYTIME WE DRIVE IT NOW. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM HERE IF YOU CANT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE . I ALSO NOTICED MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS. THIS NEEDS A RECALL FIX.

Service Brakes5 complaints

The car would tell me to "shift to park" when my car is in park. I was unable to turn my car completely off if this message was flashing on the dash. I have had to leave my car unlocked and with the system on for periods of time when I had to get out of my car. There wasn't a way to be able to lock my car when this system was on, not even when I had turned the car off. I am always unaware if my car is actually in park or not. Very worrisome to think that my car would roll into an object, or even a person just because my car wouldn't register that I was in park.

NHTSA #11607204

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated while driving approximately 62 MPH, the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The brakes, ABS, engine, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. Upon pulling over, the brake pedal was depressed but the brake pedal was firm, and the vehicle was slow to respond. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that an unknown software update was needed, and the brake control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 17,714.

NHTSA #11511596

My brakes squeal on occasion. At slow speeds when stopping the brake pedal goes soft. The suv pulls to the left slightly and a metal on metal sound begins to emit from the drivers side braking system. The sound changes to something I can only describe as from a video game or a raptor from The Jurassic Park movies. I have videos of the sound, although they do it no justice. The dealership couldn't reproduce the sound. It happens when it wants. No warning lamps come on. It feels like the car won't stop on time when this happens. The vehicle is available for inspection.

•What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Brakes make a squeaking noise coming to a stop. Issue often occurs applying light pressure to the brake pedal. Noticeable after starting the car when it has not been running for a while. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Has not been reproduced by dealer. I have taken this vehicle to two GM dealers (Cerrone Chevrolet and McGee Chevrolet) and received the same response that this is not an issue and is normal. I have stated I wanted this inspected to avoid further issues but received the same response. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance, but the problem is noticeable by passengers. •Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Symptoms were noticeable around 9,000 miles

NHTSA #11484753

I called the dealership when my car had less than 10,000 miles complaining of the brakes squealing very loudly almost sounding like grinding I took the car in they said the brakes were just dirty they cleaned them the very next day the brakes were making the same noise I call them again they say next time I come in for oil change they will look at them I go in they say they are dirty to drive fast on the interstate and stop really fast and it will loosen the dirt. Again I call again complaining about the brakes they say they will look again this time they say they have looked to see if there is any recalls and don’t see any so they grease the brakes they said if this don’t fix it then I would say that you just have very good brakes that’s what good brakes sound like. I’m fixing to have a baby and I’m worried that this could be potentially harmful with me one of these days not being able to stop because the brakes go bad. This has been going on for over a year and the delearship also informed they have it on record everytime I have called and complained

Engine4 complaints

The studs that connect the front exhaust to the rear exhaust and muffler rusted and the exhaust fell down and crumpled up. Basically tore the exhaust off of the car when this happened.

NHTSA #11724532

The three bolts at the flange attaching the muffler to the upper muffler sheared off due to rust and the whole rear muffler fell off when driving the car on an interstate. Car is 3 years old and at the time had 65,000 miles. The bolts used are of poor quality, and to make matters worse, there is no exhaust hanger near this flange so the muffler is supported at the front by just this flange. Poorly designed by GM.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on an open highway with the adaptive cruise control engaged, the system sensed an unknown object and slammed on the brakes. The adaptive cruise control was turned off. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,500.

NHTSA #11706119

Two weeks before the accident, a warning message appeared on my car’s dashboard stating: “FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM REDUCED.” Naturally, I was concerned. I immediately contacted the dealership, but they failed to return my call. I followed up a few days later, and they told me to bring the car in the next day. When I went in, I explained my serious concerns. They told me they would need to keep the vehicle for 3 to 4 days just to diagnose the issue and that no courtesy car would be provided during that time. I made it clear that I rely on my car for work and had no alternative. I even pointed out that the dashboard warning was a diagnosis in itself. I asked to speak with a manager and repeated everything. He simply echoed what the advisor had said—and I was sent away with the vehicle, unresolved and still potentially unsafe. On May 8th, 2025, around 5 PM, on a clear day, I missed a stop sign and collided with another car. I firmly believe the forward collision system malfunctioned and that this accident could have been prevented had the system worked properly—or if the dealership had properly advised me not to drive the vehicle after such a critical warning. In my view, the dealership was completely negligent, and the manufacturer was aware of a defect in the system and failed to act. I also contacted the finance company, Santander Consumer USA, to alert them in case other customers have the same vehicle with the same risk. They showed no concern. It’s important to add that I did not choose this car myself. Santander limited me to specific dealerships and pre-approved vehicles. I had no freedom to select a car I truly wanted—perhaps because the available options were already considered poor choices. I believe a recall is necessary. I lost my vehicle due to this negligence, and I want to prevent this from happening to someone else. PS: I also had another message on 02/15/2025 that said: ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED, and apparently the dealership took care of it.

Allegedly reported: 1 injury (as reported to NHTSA). NHTSA #11667374

On April 13, 2025, around 5:00 PM, while driving, a warning appeared on my dashboard: “Forward Collision System Reduced.” Not knowing the full meaning but understanding it could pose a safety risk, I immediately contacted the dealership the next day. I informed them it was urgent, but no one followed up. Days later, I called again and was told to bring the vehicle in. When I did, I asked about a rental vehicle (previously provided during another incident), but was told no rental would be offered until the car underwent diagnostics, which would take 3–4 business days. I explained I rely on this vehicle for work and couldn’t leave it that long without transportation. I was dismissed without any explanation of the warning. Despite reporting a system warning related to crash prevention, the dealership allowed me to continue driving. No inspection was done, and I received no help understanding the message or resolving the issue. On May 8, 2025, I missed a stop sign and collided with another vehicle. The crash caused major damage and totaled my car. The Forward Collision System never activated—no alerts, no automatic braking. The vehicle was advertised to include safety features like collision prevention that would warn or stop automatically. This failure contributed to the crash. I was cited for failing to stop and driving without insurance. I believe the system malfunctioned and that the dealership acted negligently by not inspecting the vehicle promptly. The issue has not been confirmed by the dealer because they refused to inspect it. The vehicle may still be available for inspection, and I plan to have the black box (EDR) data analyzed. No warning lights appeared before April 13.

Vehicle is little over one month old and has less than two thousand (2000) miles. Adaptive Cruise has been acting erratically. At times going at highway speed on expressway adaptive cruise would apply hard brakes 1. when approaching a overhead bridge. 2. passing a vehicle in the adjacent lane and 3. changing lane. Yesterday (10/12/2022) on a higway the instrument panel displayed a warning message "Service Side Detection System". Took it to GM Dealer who ran a Diagnostic which showed the following codes: 1. B1325 Control Module Power Circuit Low Voltage 2. B317A Passenger Window Switch Short to Ground 3. U0151 Lost communication with inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module 4. U 0155 Lost Communication with Instrument Cluster 5. U0184 Lost Communication with Radio 6. U0232 Lost Communication with Side Object Detection Control Module - Left Dealer said that these are just notification and may not be able to find anything. It advised to bring vehicle back if this message pops up again.

When putting the vehicle in park and turning off, a warning message will appear that states "Shift to Park" and initially a nudge of the gear shift would clear the message, after one week, a simple nudge does not clear the message. The vehicle will not turn off and continues to beep, you have to put vehicle in gear (D or R) move a few feet, return to P, press very firmly on the brake and press the ignition button, this may or may not clear the message and it could take a few attempts of these steps to clear.

Unknown. This was a certified preowned vehicle that was purchased on December 18, 2024. We have had NUMEROUS issues with the car since purchase but the most concerning has been the door actuators. The front door actuators on both sides failed in less than a year from date of purchase. I was told by the dealership where it was repaired that this was a common problem and to expect the rear ones to not be far behind. 4 months later, the rear ones are now not working. This creates a safety hazard, especially since this is the primary vehicle that my teenager drives with his younger brother. A malfunctioning door lock actuator can create dangerous situations, including the possibility that a door may fail to unlock or open, potentially trapping passengers in the vehicle during an emergency or out of the vehicle when my underage children are by themselves. Conversely, the door may appear to be locked when the mechanism has not actually engaged, leaving the vehicle vulnerable to unauthorized access. Faulty actuators may also cause erratic locking or unlocking behavior while the vehicle is in motion, which can create a safety distraction for the driver as well as a security risk. There were no warnings that this was an issue. My son thought the doors were locking (and unlocking). I am aware GM is already "tacking" this issue as I could find stats on how many people have reported, so it is enough that they are taking notice.

My 2022 Trailblazer has had a shift to park issue. It’s hazardous as I have to constantly park my car in reverse to get the “shift to park” message off my dashboard screen. My car doesn’t shut off properly with this issue. My car is only at 19,700 miles. It should not be having this issue.

“Shift to Park” message came on the dashboard. Car would not change gear or go into reverse or drive. Basically stuck in Park position. Car kept peeping sound nonstop for over 20 minutes. And it drained the battery. Car would not drive. Had to have it towed to the dealership I brought it from 45 miles away. I had to pay $656.72 at dealership to get it fixed. The dealership removed and replaces the shifter assembly which cost $656.72.

The gear handle, when I place in park, will NOT park, therefore, I am not able to turn off my car. I have to jiggle, push start button and try over and over. This is a 2 .5 year old vehicle.Warning alert comes on stating the obvious, Unable to park! Also, it sounds like when I do drive of like the dragging, rough sound, which sounds like the gear is not fully in drive. Again, this is a new vehicle. It is unsafe and getting worse. Thank you.

Nearly every time I park my car and shut it off a message pops up on the message board that says SHIFT TO PARK even though it is in park. I have to restart my car MULTIPLE times and shift to another gear and back into park before the message goes away. This has been happening for a couple of weeks but is getting more frequent.

The two components that failed were the water pump and the coolant control valve which caused the engine to overheat, resulting in me having to pull over along the side of a busy highway putting me at risk for injury while the vehicle cooled down. It would be available for inspection upon request. This was dangerous mostly to myself due to having to pull over on the side of a busy highway and wait until the vehicle could be somewhat ok to be driven the rest of the way home. I had to drive very slowly home with my hazards on at a very low speed. Vehicle was brought to a nearby Chevy dealership the following morning. They had the vehicle for two days and claimed they could not get the problem to present itself, however, within five minutes of me driving it off the lot it overheated resulting in having to pull over again on a busy highway. An independent service center had the vehicle and diagnosed it initially as an intermittently failing water pump. This repair did not resolve the issue 100% as the vehicle began to slowly overheat again within 18 minutes of highway speed driving. Car was towed back to repair shop from my place of employment. They were able to get it to present the issue and diagnosed it as the coolant control valve. This has so far appeared to resolve the overheating issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance rep/others. The only warning that came up was on the info screen above the steering column advising me the engine was overheating and was in idle. Immediately upon seeing this I pulled over to prevent any damage. Temp gauge was all the way in the red. Fan was blowing hard. This has never happened previously and there were no other warning lights of any kind on the dash to indicate an issue. This incident happened on 6/2. Please be advised, this vehicle has since been repaired and has ran me $2300 as it is out of warranty.

The exhaust system and muffler fell off the bottom of my vehicle. The bolts holding the exhaust together failed and broke which led to this. This is a common failure with the newer trailblazer that GM is failing to acknowledge. There have been multiple reports of this. I had my vehicle inspected by Webb Chevy in oak Lawn IL and all the mechanic could say is “they don’t make them like they used to” which means they know this problem exists. This 100% put me at risk as I could’ve crashed with my daughter in the car when the muffler disconnected causing it to scrape and lose power. This was extremely dangerous and should’ve been a recall. There was no warning lights or anything. My vehicle just ran into issues mid traffic and this was extremely scary. There’s multiple online forums of people with this same issue: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On this vehicle the manufacturer is using plastic exhaust brackets. This bracket broke while driving on interstate. This caused the entire exhaust system to drop. When this happens the pipes underneath the car can break and cause serious damage to underside of vehicle which can then cause sparking and explosion or vehicle crash. Looking at pics below you will see the defective plastic part is GM Part# 42708943.

We own a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer and we have experienced the “shift to park” issue more times than we can count. We receive the “shift to park” message on the dash screen after the car has been shifted to park and we attempt to turn the vehicle off. This problem has caused me to be late to my job on numerous occasions and late to an exam that determines my graduation at school. Many users report being able to just shift through the gears a couple times or wiggling the gear shift and it shuts off, but that is not always my case. I have, on a few occasions now, had to remove my gear shift knob and panel completely, locating the park switch and manually bending it to recognize that my car was in park. Doing this will typically subside the issue for about a week, but no longer than that. We have tried to have the dealership see the message when taking it in for other things, but it never seems to happen when they are watching. There were no other issues with this vehicle before this started happening. We purchased the vehicle in February with about 44,000 miles. This issue has instilled fear in me every time I go to shut my vehicle off never knowing if it will actually shut off or not. Dramatic or not, it has caused unwanted anxiety and too many mental breakdowns that were not needed. This needs to be addressed and fixed ASAP!

“Shift to park” alert. It started after the car had 29,000 miles. It would occur occasionally but on Jan 4th of this year, I had to restart and move my car 11 times in order for the alert to be cancelled and I was able to shut off my car. I have been told there is no parts available by the dealer who has my car and they don’t know when the work will be done!

2022 Trailblazer with approximately 21,000 miles on it. Cruise control fails to engage unless you put your foot behind the break pedal and pull the break pedal forward. This causes safety issues because a person thinks the cruise is engaged but it doesn't actually engage and causes a person to slow on the freeway. Driver also gets distracted trying to troubleshoot the issue because cruise fails to engage without an obvious reason for failure. The fix also causes the driver to operate the vehicle in an unsafe manner because they have to remove their foot from the correct position and place it behind the break pedal to fix the problem. This issue is highly reproducible and was lived with for approximately a year until the solution of pulling the break pedal towards the driver was discovered just last month. Dealer said the issue is nonexistent.

My shift to park was broken last September 9-25, and I took it to the dealers I bought it from (the month prior, in august) and they fixed it. I was never informed what they did to fix it. I didn't have any issues with it after that up until recently. I will put my car into park, press the engine button to turn it off, and then it displays the shift to park message and beeps. the light next to my gear shift will be on "P" and my screen also says my car is in park. I have to mess with the gear shifter until it recognizes that it's parked so I can actually leave my car. I have taken it to an auto shop local to me and they had it all day and couldn't figure out what caused it. I typically am stuck in my car for over 5 minutes because of this issue. My lane departure warning worked for about 2-3 months after I purchased the car. Out of nowhere it stopped working and when I press the button to turn it on, it says it's unavailable. I've tried cleaning the sensor, turning it on when I'm not accelerating/braking, and turning it on while in cruise control and it will not work.

The exhaust and muffler completely detached from the catalytic converter/exhaust manifold while driving down the road. If we were driving at a higher rate of speed, the exhaust pipe could've caught on any imperfection on the roadway and shot the rear end of the vehicle up and then potentially caused an accident/death. My car has been well maintained and always taken for service according to recommendations from the manufacturer. My brakes have ALWAYS squealed since I first bought it new but apparently there’s nothing they can do about it so I’ve just dealt with it. Now a more serious concern I am having after manufacturer warranty is my dash is displaying a shift to park message every time I shift into park and turn off my car. I also might add that this has been going on with others! Chevy doesn’t think it’s a concern when it is a very serious issue. I have children and once when I went to get gas after almost being on empty my car wouldn’t turn off because of that error and I couldn’t get gas. I tried turning it off and on multiple times to fix but it just didn’t want to work when I needed it most. I have to aggressively charge gears go get it to work most of the time. It’s a serious issue that has been brought to their attention and shouldn’t be happening to a vehicle under 50,000 miles and well maintained. These issues need to be addressed there’s no reason I should have to pay to fix an issue this extensive and costly in a 2022 vehicle.

Inspection of my other tires showed the left front had the same sidewall line but had not yet ruptured. We then contacted Continental direct, they advised it was not. My vehicle was purchased new on November 1, 2022 with 100 miles. It's now 5 months old with less than 5,000 miles.
