Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS:EXTERNAL/PEDESTRIAN ALERT

NHTSA #24V937000

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV work trucks. The pedestrian alert sound system may not produce sound at a sufficient volume. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 141, "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles."

Reported consequence: A vehicle that fails to make sufficient sound may result in pedestrians being unaware of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will update the software in the body control module (BCM), free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 22, 2025. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N242483530.

AIR BAGS: AIR BAG/RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

NHTSA #24V738000

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD, 6500HD vehicles. The air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) may not have been activated during installation.

Reported consequence: Inactive air bags will not deploy in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: A Navistar technician will activate the air bag module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 1, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N242477760.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP:CONTROL/DRIVE MODULE

NHTSA #26V129000

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, and GMC Sierra 3500 vehicles with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks (RPOs L8T and N2N). The rear fuel pump may not transfer adequate fuel to the front tank, causing an engine stall.

Reported consequence: An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The vehicle's engine control module (ECM) will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262544420. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 5, 2026.

Over the past three days, my digital gauge cluster and digital entertainment center have locked up while driving. This means I have no idea how fast I’m going no idea if my turn signals are working and no idea what percentage of charge I have left. The screen stays frozen, even after the card was turned off. I have to wait hours before the car decides to finally reset itself. I have a video I can upload if requested.

NHTSA #11669300

Fin on top of the truck covering key electrical components fell off after 3 weeks of ownership.

Electrical System1 complaint

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? GM and dealerships have report extensive failures of the Telematics Control Module (TCM) that connects onstar and provides GPS navigation ability. There is currently no issued recall. Yes, this can be provided for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Unlike 2024 vehicles, where Android Auto is supported, providing a safe, hands free workaround for the failure of the TCM, on 2025 models, GM deliberately removed support for Android Auto to force OnStar subscription services, even for basic navigation. This greed-based decision, along with undisclosed failures of the TCM and months of back order waiting list to fix, puts drivers at significant safety risk when forced to revert to other navigation solutions. It is guaranteed this decision (putting safe navigation behind a paywall, and the mass failure of this hardware) will result in loss of life due to forcing drivers to revert to legacy and unsafe practices, including being forced to use their phone in a non-handsfree method. They also removed basic lane keeping warnings and steering, traditionally free with the vehicle and now only available with a full onstar subscription. This liability is exclusively due to the push towards subscription models at the impact of public safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealership confirmed this failure and the extent of the failures across 2025 vehicles. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? All indications were normal except no data connectivity and GPS signal was also lost. As an officer in the military, I can't standby and let this deliberate impact to public safety continu

Had to restart truck to fix.); backup camera cutouts/blackouts while moving; infotainment/cluster glitches; repeated brake pedal clicking (5-6x per stop); hypersensitive safety system (abrupt braking/pulling to one side, overcorrections are safety hazard).

Other1 complaint

On Star Telematics Module is failed and on backorder and no ETA according to dealership and ONSTAR. This is a safety issue as GPS is unavailable, SOS is unavailable, Cannot Locate Vehicle if lost or stolen. The company is very slow in response and this seems to be a global known issue.

NHTSA #11703795

Vehicle Speed Control,Unknown Or Other,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

Onstar no longer working and the Onstar Module that needs to replaced is on backorder with no time frame of getting the part. Happening to many GM vehicles with Onstar.

NHTSA #11699314

Vehicle Speed Control,Service Brakes1 complaint

Observation: "While operating the vehicle in Reverse (R) with the One-Pedal Driving (OPD) mode enabled, the expected aggressive regenerative braking deceleration is disabled or significantly reduced compared to when driving forward in Drive (D). Safety Concern: "This creates an unexpected driving experience where the car continues to coast/accelerate without input when the accelerator is released, requiring the driver to use the traditional friction brake pedal to stop the vehicle. This goes against the driver's established muscle memory and expectation from OPD in Drive, creating a potential safety risk, especially in tight maneuvering situations where quick, expected stopping is necessary." Suggested Action: "Review the design choice to disable/reduce OPD-level regenerative braking in Reverse to determine if a gradual or driver-selectable level of regen braking could be safely implemented to maintain consistency with the OPD driving 'norm' and prevent unexpected coasting."

NHTSA #11692484

NHTSA #11656227

Exterior Lighting,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

There are two systems that are a hazard and dangerous on the Silverado EV. The First one is the Automatic High Beams. The Auto high beams will continuously flash other drivers on the road. This can blind other drivers and possibly case a crash. The other Dangerous safety feature on the vehicle is the Automatic Emergency Braking. The AEB feature when crawling behind another vehicle in bumber to bumper traffic will randomly just slam on the brakes unnecessarily which could cause a rear end collision. When this happens, There is no need for emergency braking as I am in full control of the vehicle. It will just slam on the brakes and the vehicle will come to a complete sudden stop. I have reported the issues to the manufacturer and instead of correcting the issue, They've advised to turn the features off. This defeats the purpose of the vehicle coming with these features. General motors needs to be required to correct these deficincies with a software update.
