The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

NHTSA #11727912

Sunday, September 21, 2025, while on my way to church around 8:40am, while driving in traffic, car began to slow and then stopped (CAR WAS IN DRIVE, NOT IN PARK). The "Shift to Park" and ABS light appeared on dashboard. After the car completely stopped, and with other motorists blowing their horns behind me, I put the vehicle in park and was able to restart it. I immediately returned home and called a church member for a ride. I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK WHEN THE CAR STOPPED IN MOVING TRAFFIC WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING IT! I scheduled an appointment for a diagnostic and brought it in to the dealership on Monday, September, 22, 2025. It was kept overnight and two diagnostics were performed (they charged me for two diagnostics). They informed me that the solenoid assembly had to be replaced and that after performing a road test for the ABS, they did not find anything. Its very stressful in remembering what happened and that I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SOMEONE ELSE INJURED AS WELL, IF SOMEONE HAD RUN INTO ME AFTER THE CAR KILLED WHILE DRIVING IT!!!

NHTSA #11692593

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that on several occasions while shifting into park(P), the message “Shift to Park” displayed on the instrument panel. My car keeps showing the “shift to park” code when I try to turn off my car even though it’s already in park. I have to wiggle the shifter and turn the car repeatedly on and off to try to get it to stop.

NHTSA #11649363

Car Will stop moving forward or reverse randomly while driving. This plays a p2714 code with the check engine light. It is available for inspection if requested. This has happened while driving on the road. Vehicle stalls out and does not move which could cause severe accident and bodily injury. This issue seems to be a known issue among GM vehicles with the CT40 CVT transmissions. I do have a short video that can be provided. It shows a check engine light on the vehicle's in drive but will not move.

NHTSA #11604881

so when im driving my chevy every thing is all fine and about like 30 minutes of driving the trash cvt won’t accelerate from a complete stop. I have two mass of gas pedal all the way down and the car will hit 4000 RPMs till it accelerate and that’s very dangerous. It happens all the time especially when it’s hot outside when a car has a stop sign or at a red light and I’m getting ready to takeoff. The car won’t even take off now. I’m going 5 mph pass in intersection is very dangerous and especially go on the highways.

NHTSA #11650633

Vehicle would not shift into park on multiple occasions. Shift to park message appeared on dashboard and vehicle could not be shut off or locked. Contacted Chevrolet dealer for repair and was told this is a known issue but this vin was not included in the recall that was issued for this very problem with thes Chevrolet Malibu. Reported to Chevrolet and was again told it is not covered under the recall for this issue. We paid $237.53 out of pocket to repair a defect that Chevrolet knows is an issue and has effected Years 2016-2019 Chevrolet Malibus. This is a safety concern. Chevrolet needs to stand behind this defect and pay for the repairs.

NHTSA #11604137

I was informed by Chevrolet dealership on Tennessee St. in Tallahassee, Florida, that the issue was with the battery monitor sensor. The car will, however, suddenly cut off at a stoplight when you release the brake to apply the gas, with no error lights to populate on the dash, which puts myself, my kids, and others at serious risk of being rear-ended by a car behind us.

NHTSA #11596967

1. Couldnt turn off engine due to shift to park issues 2 If I can't turn the engine off there is a risk that the vehicle could suddenly move and I cannot leave the vehicle with the engine running. 3. Yes it has been confirmed and inspected. 4 See #1.

NHTSA #11587394

I am making a complaint because there is a major deficiency that has put my safety at risk. The component of the vehicle that has a defect is the transmission. When the car is shifted in drive it will either stall and jerk forward, not jerk forward and not move forward from seconds to minutes at a time, and/or move forward about 50ft and stall again. I was making a right turn on a major road, speed limit being 40 MPH and the vehicle stalled and did not go forward until 20-30 seconds later. Vehicles were able to see me before getting closer and were able to change lanes however this is unacceptable. I had my two year old nephew in the car and this could have been a fatal accident. I have taken it to twice to be repaired and this problem has yet to be a fix. I can get invoices and documents to show the “repairs” however this problem exist and needs an solution.

NHTSA #11584800

IN THE PAST WEEK, I TRIED TURNING OFF MY VEHICLE, BUT RECEIVED THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK". THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES, THUS FAR (11/6, 11/8, 11/13). THE CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK, BUT WON'T TURN OFF, UNLESS I CONTINUALLY SHIFT, OR RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, OTHERWISE, IT CONTINUES TO RUN WITH THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, IT FINALLY TURNS OFF. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING! IS THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND IF, SO, IS GM ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE AND NOTIFYING OWNERS OF THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT PROCEDURES TO TAKE? I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. IS MY CAR SAFE TO DRIVE? IS THIS SOMETHING THE DEALERSHIP CAN ADDRESS? I DO NOT WANT TO BE SOMEWHERE AND NOT BE ABLE TO START MY CAR. I START IT WAS THE BATTERY BECAUSED I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM ONSTAR STATING THE BATTERY WAS CRITICALLY LOW ON THE 6 OF NOVEMBER. I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY ON NOVEMBER 9, 2023, THINKING THIS WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT!

NHTSA #11555070

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that on several occasions when the vehicle was shifted into park(P), the “Shift to Park” message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear selector needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,400.

NHTSA #11584716

CVT transmission is already bad on this vehicle with only 114,000 miles on it and it’s a safety hazard. And the expense to replace it costs $3500 and up for rebuilt and $7500 for brand new!!!! This is unacceptable and outrageous. I was told by several mechanics that this car and these transmissions are junk and have a bad reputation. There needs to be a recall. I still owe on this car and shouldn’t have to stick that kind of money into repairs. Shame on GM!!! Next car I buy is going to be Toyota! Or non American junk.

NHTSA #11543019

NHTSA #11545886

I have a 2019 chevrolet malibu. When I stop the car and shift into park the "Shift to park " lite comes on. This is very annoying because you have re-shift into "park" several times before the lite goes off. This is very dangerous because you don't know if the vehicle is really in "park".

When I take my foot off the break it will start back up as if the car had just been started by pushing the engine start/ stop button. It’s really scary when I have my kids I. The car with me

NHTSA #11475824

NHTSA #11466897

Gear shift does not register the vehicle is in park. Intermittent “Shift to Park” warning displays - the car will not shut off. It drains the battery. Jiggling the shift knob and button can help to get the car to register it is in park, but this is unreliable.

NHTSA #11450834

Currently have 109,330 miles on my 2019 Malibu LT It’s very obvious that the transmissions in these cars are no good. My car accelerates slowly whenever it feels like it and entering the highway or any road to be honest, is like jumping off of a plane with no parachute, praying you don’t hit the bottom and die. Its scary! It jerks horribly at times while accelerating (along with slow acceleration). If I push the gas pedal more, the car’s RPMs revs high and the car shoots off like rocket then starts to accelerate slowly seconds after the hard take off. Someone is going to die at the hands of GM because the problem is being ignored! Please help us! Check the vehicles! See what the issue is! It’s not just “something simple”. Yet y’all are constantly rolling these cars out to customers. Feels like robbery!

NHTSA #11678675

Shift to park issue. After putting the car into Park and attempting to shut off the vehicle, an alter to SHIFT TO PARK came up and the car could not be shut off. This happened several times. Car was taken to the dealer where it was originally purchased. The issue was known to the service department as having been seen many times on same type of vehicle. The repair was to replace the shifter assembly and pig tail at a cost of over $700. which included the cost of the diagnostic. The vehicle is not driven often and has only 13,500 miles on it.

The Apple CarPlay system, specifically the GPS/navigation function, froze and malfunctioned. This occurred in two separate vehicles I’ve owned: a 2019 Chevy Malibu and now a 2019 Chevy Equinox (the vehicle involved in the accident). Both cars frequently experienced lagging and freezing while using Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system and vehicle are available for inspection. On June 28, 2025, while driving at night with GPS active via CarPlay, the system froze and gave me an incorrect instruction — telling me to turn left onto a one-way street in the wrong direction. I did not realize I was going the wrong way until reaching the intersection, and by that point, I was involved in a head-on car accident. This presented a significant danger to me and others on the road. The issue has not been officially reproduced or confirmed by a service center, but it occurred consistently in two different GM vehicles. I have text message documentation sent to my family over the months before the accident describing the freezing and lagging of CarPlay. The accident and vehicle were reviewed by insurance representatives, but no inspection was done specifically on the infotainment/GPS system by the manufacturer. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages. However, the symptom was consistent lagging and freezing of the CarPlay interface, which had been happening for months prior. There were no official error codes displayed before the crash.

Allegedly reported: 3 injuries (as reported to NHTSA). NHTSA #11674821

Not in park warning when shifter is placed in park.

NHTSA #11658750

My wife drove the car into the church parking lot and placed the shifter in park. Turned off the engine and the Display stated "place the car in Park." She restarted the car backed up and pulled back into the space, shut off the engine and it did the same thing again,. She got out and attempted to lock the car with the FOB and it stated place in Park, and Key fob in car. It wasn't , and she had started walking into the church with the audible alert beep and headlights behind her. I went out started the car shifted it into park and it did the same thing. I backed up a little bit engaged drive and slowly moved the shifter to park and it worked that time. Will take it to our certified mechanic tomorrow.

NHTSA #11619746

My vehicle fails to shut off when placed in Park. •It fails to start properly when the ignition is engaged. •It experiences shifting malfunctions that directly prevent safe operation. These issues are ongoing and remain unresolved despite being well-documented in GM Technical Service Bulletin 19-NA-206 and related bulletins, which identify the root cause as a defective shifter park switch and wiring harness.

NHTSA #11681177

SERVICE ESC flashed on my dashboard along with the car jerking when braking. Car has not been abused as this a new development. Check engine light stays on. Service ESC and LOW FUEL appear at the same time the brake jerk happens. Car has less than 50k miles despite being used everyday. Car does not perform accurately with the ESC not working.

NHTSA #11529837

Shift to park switch malfunction. Switch is bad

NHTSA #11529269

Shift to park sensor does not recognize the vehicle is in park. I am unable to shut off or lock my vehicle. Ongoing prior to ownership.

NHTSA #11647349

When you park the car and shift the car into park a message appears on the dashboard stating "Shift to Park" the car does not think it is in park and is telling you to put it into the Park Gear to turn off the car. You can not shut off the car as long as this message is displayed on the dashboard. Sometimes turning the car on and off 5+ times may get the message to go away but as time has gone on it has been harder to get the message to go away. At times we have been stuck in the car for over 10 minutes trying to shut off the car.

NHTSA #11493298

After shifting into park and turning off the car, a warning message to shift into park comes up. Pressing on the button on the shifter several times eventually gets it to stop.

NHTSA #11484806

When I shift the car into park the computer does not register it is in park. Still says place vehicle in park when you open a door. Have to shift it several times before it will read in park. I took it to the dealer and was told it is a common issue. They bent a bracket forward and got it to read for now. The tech said its a poor design flaw and GM should be replacing the sensor bracket but refuse to issue a recall on it.

NHTSA #11484227

“Shift to Park” message appears on dash information screen and prohibits the vehicle from fully powering off and can cause battery to fully discharge. This appears to be a known problem, as referenced in GM TSB 19-na-206.

NHTSA #11462159

all gauges shut off and turn back on while driving tire says it is flat and it is not car shuts off completely, resets, and turns back on while driving braking system not working code steering wheel jerks off to the side aggressively on its own while foot is on brake car hesitates to start up and hesitates to accelerate sometimes there are warning messages sometimes no warning steer assist turns off and shows message and jerks my wheel sideways AC control board only works half the time entertainment and GPS system blacks out randomly and doesn't turn back on the unpredictability is dangerous. the performance of this vehicle is unacceptable. having not one chevy service center properly repair this issue poses a extreme safety risk as the car's power toggles randomly and has to be restarted Multiple Chevy service centers have not given me definitive diagnostic. no one has fixed the issues. they only get worse daily. the service centers charge me money to "grease wires" and send me home every time.

NHTSA #11503741

Unable to leave vehicle because the car thinks the gear shift is not in park. The car is actually in park . I’ve tried wiggling the gear shift, turning the car back on several times and putting into gear and back in park. Nothing seems to work and it goes off whenever it decides to go off. This is causing a safety issue for me personally since I can’t leave the car. This started about 2months ago.

NHTSA #11458523

NHTSA #11671745

My car constantly gives a warning of shift to park even when the car is in the park position. The will constantly give the alarm. I move the shifter from drive to park several times before it stops. I have replaced the battery due it being drained by this faulty shifter.

NHTSA #11669578

This is by far the worst car purchase I've ever made. I've had this car for 4 years now and ever since I purchased it, it has given me problems. The car shut down completely at the stop sign or stop light, even when pulling out of the parking spot. Battery replaced, fuel line/pump/gasket replaced, wire fixed, oils and fluids stay up to date, transmission fluid changed, and not one mechanic, not even GM can tell me what the problem is because they don't even know. No codes appear and diagnostics come back fine and clear. Every mechanic has fixed something they've thought could be causing the problem yet the problem still exists. This is a headache to deal with and dangerous for my family and me. This has been the worst experience ever experienced with any vehicle i have owned.

Shift to Park message on dashboard..... After you shift the gear into park position and turn off car, the message comes up "Shift to Park". Car keeps beeping with message on dashboard saying "shift to park". You do not know why this is coming up and beeping. No matter how many times you put in park and turn off car, this message and beeping noise happens saying your car is not in Park position. When you exit the car, the message and beeping continue even after shutting the door. The lights also stay on draining your battery, and you are always left wondering if car is actually in park position. I noticed there are several complaints online concerning this matter with General Motors but when you call the Chevy dealer they continue to act like the are unaware of this issue..... If anyone wishes to contact me regarding this matter I prefer to be reached by email. Thank You.

Car has 55,000 miles on it and is displaying "shift to park" on dash when car is in park and shut off. I was unable to get the car to go into the park gear for 11 minutes and was only able to do so by starting the car, putting the car in drive and shifting back to park repeatedly.

NHTSA #11568233

I am having the well known "shift to park" issue. When I put the vehicle in park, I get the error message to "shift to park" even though the vehicle is in park. At this time, I am not able to lock my doors or turn my car off. This happens 3-5 times a week for me. This is a safety issue. I had the entire shifter replaced under warranty in 2021 and now it is happening again and I am going to have to pay for this now since out of warranty. This is not something I have caused and is an error with the vehicle and I consumers should not have to pay for this.

NHTSA #11523145

When I put the car in Park, and shut the engine off, the car won't shut off because I get a error message on my dash saying I must engage Park. It takes several tries to get the car to recognize it is in Park and shut off.

NHTSA #11517013

When car is shifted in to park it is not registering that the car is in park and a message comes up that says to “shift to park” even though the car is already shifted in park

NHTSA #11462455

Vehicle has 38,000 miles and I keep getting the “Shift to Park” error message. The dealer said it is an “ongoing problem” with these vehicles as the “electronic sensor” is not registering that the car is in “park”. The brake booster vacuum pump went out in my car it broke which caused hard breaking while driving vehicle. When the brake booster vacuum pump broke a piece of it damage my camshaft as well as my timing chain in my motor.

NHTSA #11725379

The vacuum pump has a tendency of breaking and when it does it affects the exhaust camshaft making the car completely inoperable. When this happened my vehicle lost all brakes and power and would not start. This happened suddenly with no warning and left me stranded in the middle of lanes of travel. This is a well known issue with the Chevy 1.5 L and is documented in the TSB Bulletin #21-NA-268. The vehicle was inspected following the TSB number provided and diagnosing via the information provided.

Vehicle was being driven at 60 mph on the highway when the brakes weren't responding as I was entering a sharp curve. Had to stand on the brakes and manually lower the gears to keep from hitting a tree head-on. Check engine light was on. P0014, P0017, and P0556 codes were pulled before having it towed to the first mechanic. Car wouldn't start after it was parked after the initial incident. The first mechanic was unable to diagnose so the vehicle was towed to the Chevrolet Dealership. They say the brake vacuum pump malfunctioned and caused permanent damage to the engine rendering the car inoperable and I will have to have a new engine installed. The car drove fine prior to the vacuum pump failure.

Before my car gave out I was having braking issues and my car wouldn’t accelerate when I pressed the gas. Then later that night I was driving home with my mother and fiancée when my car illuminated “engine power reduced” and my check engine light came on. When I tried pulling over I noticed that my brakes were very hard. So I had to roll from the speed of 45 mph until my car eventually stopped. I was not able to stop at the stop sign so I just had to blow my horn to alert other drivers. Whenever I took it to the dealership they told me my brake vacuum pump exploded and blew shards into my camshaft. The repair was 1700 for the replacement of the brake vacuum pump and the camshaft. I talked to the mechanic afterwards and he said that this problem has a good chance of happening again because the part itself is defective and there are no other aftermarket parts to replace it. Then I go to pick up my car three weeks later, and was told that my engine should be replaced because a cylinder had no compression. The price of that was around 5000.

The component that failed is the internal microswitch/sensor within the gear shifter assembly. The specific part that requires replacement is often documented in General Motors Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 19-NA-206 or 23-NA-119. The faulty component is available for inspection if the dealership removes the old part and retains it. My safety and the safety of others are put at risk because the vehicle often fails to register that it is fully in "Park," which prevents the vehicle from shutting off properly, potentially leaving it in accessory mode. This could lead to a dead battery, leaving me stranded. More importantly, the failure to confirm the 'Park' state introduces a risk of the vehicle not being securely immobilized, creating a roll-away hazard if parked on an incline. The problem has been confirmed by local Chevrolet dealership service centers (receipts available). The issue is identical to the defect that prompted official safety recalls for numerous other GM models, including the 2017-2018 GMC Acadia. Furthermore, the symptoms described match those outlined in the active class-action settlement for 2016-2019 Malibu owners (STPLawsuit.com).

2nd time putting car in shop to fix the parking sensor. When you place the vehicle in park get a alert to place vehicle in park. Had it repaired once and problem is back. Have to shift to park several times before it will work properly. Already paid once to repair it and the dealer said it's a common problem. I think a recall is needed. I called the dealer and the service advisor said a new support bracket is needed. I called GM to complain and they said they issued a service alert to it's dealers on how to fix it. But refuse to cover the cost of repair. I feel a recall is a fair solution. I can not safely park the car with out worrying if it truly is in park.

I've had a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu since December 2018. After my last visit to the dealership to have my oil changed (January 22), I began experiencing a "Park to Shift" alert appear after I had shifted the car into park and turned it off. This happened within the first day of having it serviced. Since then it has happened pretty much every time I've driven the car and turned itr off. I'd say it's happening 90% of the time. Sometimes it's resolved if I cut the car back on shift to Drive or Reverse, then back to Park (usually have to do that a few times to get it to stop). Just today, I could not get it to go off while making a quick stop and had to leave the car essentially on while I hopped out. Once, I was able to "jiggle" the gear shift for a few seconds to get it to stop. I don't understand why this is suddenly happening. It was not happening before the visit, although I am aware that it is a known issue - however no recall has been issued. What are my options beyond spending another chunk of money to have this fixed?

Unknown cause of issue. Vehicle states a notice to “Shift to Park” after it has already been shifted in to park and prompted to turned off. The electricity in the vehicle will not shut off until the notice disappears which doesn’t happen unless the button on the shifter is pressed multiple times. This issue will cause the battery to die in the vehicle if not treated, which in turn, will leave myself and any passengers stranded where the vehicle is.

Year 2019, code P1101- vehicle hesitates while drive, will reduce power while driving, while sitting idle at a stop the car will die and I will have to restart the vehicle. Multiple times while driving on the highway at 70mph my car has all of a sudden either reduced power causing the car to jerk and shudder very hard or has lost all power completely and forced me to pull over while avoiding other drivers on the road. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS AND RECALLED ASAP TO GET IT FIXED. I am not in a financial spot to just go buy a new car and I shouldn't have too either. The first problem with my car was the tire pressure monitor. The location of each tire was wrong on the informant section. Soon after purchasing the car when ever I would park the car would not shut off and the DIC would display Shift to park message. Around 6 months after the purchase the brake pedal was getting harder the press down on and within a week from that while driving home from work the car completely shut off in the middle of traffic. It wouldn't start leaving me stuck on a busy street with heavy traffic blocking use of the lane. After 10 minutes it started back up and I barely made it into a parking lot of a shopping center with it shutting off again before I can park. I had to get a tow. I didnt go to an authorized dealer. I took it to a certified mechanic and had to replace the brake vacuum booster. The motor had to be cleaned out due to broken metal that got inside. After that repair car seemed okay until March 2026. The car now is in high idle and struggles to pick up speed. The message on DIC says engine power reduced. On the freeway the car can be going with the flow of traffic then suddenly engine power is reduce rpms go up high and it drops speed struggling to pick up. I paid the loan $16,000 off using what I had saved. I cant go out and purchase a new or used car.

Numerous times while driving my car both my son and I have experienced the same issues. Trying to get on the highway and pressing the gas pedal the car isn’t responding appropriately to the level of which the gas is being pressed. It isn’t accelerating appropriately. Than at stoplights or just trying to make a left hand turn from a stop position. You take your foot off brake and press the gas to go and it rolls a bit and you’re pressing the gas to go and the car isn’t responding. It’s just sitting there. Like paused. Then all of a sudden the car engages and takes off. It is very dangerous to not have the car respond to pressing the gas. And I don’t want to get into an accident because I’m trying to make a turn and get hit cause I’m just sitting there. Rather than it going when I’m pressing the gas. I am not getting any codes popping up on the dash. So the dealership has nothing to look at other than me saying this is happening to me and my son. I’m finding issues similar to this on previous models. But nothing on the 2019 that I can find. And with no error codes registering. But the issues occurring is highly concerning to me. There isn’t just one date this has occurred. This has happened now many times over the last 6mos.

This model of 2019 Malibu, does not have the function to shut off the auto start/stop feature. I have had the car for a few years and in the past year this feature has begun to malfunction multiple times at random. When in drive and approaching a stop sign or red light the Malibu will engage in the auto stop feature. There have been occurrences when after this is engaged and I lift my foot to continue to drive that the vehicle will not restart and be completely shut off. The dash will tell me to “shift to park” as if believing that I am in drive but that I shut off the vehicle. I will have to shift the vehicle to park and then push the on/off button to restart the vehicle several times. It has taken upwards of a whole light change cycle for it to be restarted. It is exceptionally dangerous as I am often in a busy intersection light with my vehicle unable to go. There is no obvious trigger and it occurs at random intervals. There is no option to turn off the auto start/stop feature and it is the only thing that causes it to occur. No warning lights or indicator has occurred. I have taken the vehicle twice to the dealership as well as another mechanic and they were unable to diagnose any problem or replicate the issue. Since it occurs at such unpredictable times they were not able to identify anything, however I do have a video taken of it occurring to me. The dealership said that GM has not seen anything like this, yet I have read about other similar issues online with this model. Safety is extremely at risk for myself and others as the car is essentially turning itself off while I’m in the middle of a drive and takes several moments to be able to drive again. This has occurred about 10 times since it begun and seems to be more frequent. I’ve replaced the battery and reset the BCM as two cautionary measures and neither has resolved the issue. I have a video of it as well but I can not attach to this form.

This is ongoing. Originally got trouble code p0239 after check engine light, cleaned throttle body. It went away. Then i got the same symptoms as a result of the throttle position sensor. I replaced that as well. Then i got a code for the turbo boost sensor. So i replaced that. Now I'm getting similar symptoms and the check engine light isn't turning on at all. I suspect maybe a catalytic converter, ecm issue, or transmission issue. I've repaired all problems that have given me a code. The car accelerates very slowly, while the rpms go up normally, then the car bolts off almost normally for a while. And becomes jerky. So I'm unable to safely pass others if needed or accelerate normally both from a stop and while moving. While driving at low speeds with the window down I can hear a sound that could be the turbo spooling up or maybe a fan. Also, the cooling fan will stay on for a while after turning off the engine. I contacted the dealer and they said the only recall is a CAC retainer and told me there were no other TSBs open for my VIN but i believe by car is eligible for multiple including but not limited to 19-NA-058.

My 2019 Chevrolet Malibu has severe safety defects involving the engine, powertrain, and speed control. The vehicle will sometimes accelerate on its own with my foot off the gas, and other times it loses all power while pulling into traffic. This creates an immediate risk of a crash. Multiple diagnostic codes appear repeatedly, including P0299 (turbo underboost), P0101 (mass air flow performance), P1101 (intake airflow performance), and P0506 (idle control RPM too low). The charge-air hose repeatedly blows off the throttle body while driving, causing sudden loss of power. The vehicle was sold to me by a dealer as safe and reliable, but these defects appeared shortly after purchase. The unintended acceleration and sudden loss of power make the car dangerous to drive. This appears to be a serious mechanical and safety-related defect that could cause an accident.

The clutch solenoid started failing without warning or notice. This was finally confirmed by a transmission shop after a warning lamp related to the issue finally popped up after months of issues. My safety was put at risk due to the sudden and intermittent failure to shift into drive. This would sometimes lead to the engine stuttering then shutting off while still in drive. Attempts for dealers and private shops to nail down the issue were unsuccessful due to the system not reporting or recording any information related to this failure to shift. Again the danger came intermittently and suddenly when, shifting from park to drive, shifting from park - reverse - then drive. It would cause my vehicle to “stall out” in an active lane of traffic. This issue occurs from probably 60,000 - 90,000 miles when the system finally threw P0700 and P2714 codes to point to the issue.

Most vehicles require an oil change at 7000 miles and still had a good amout of time before reaching that mark.Vehicle states that it is still under powertrain warranty until 60000 miles. However it's states that it is not covered if improper fuel or lubricant levels (oil) are the cause which is puzzling also because this is apparently a known problem with chevy vehicles as they have provided a bulletin on nhtsa website as to how to diagnose and fix the issue. Service Bulletin #PIP5598C or Google the pdf bulletin. Chevy is sticking me with a known problem their engine does with the cost and replacement of a new engine. As well as losing the 7000 dollars I put down on my newer used vehicle. As well as it being a safety hazard and stalling randomly.

Check engine light lit up on the dashboard. Did not go away, took car to dealership next day. Turns out that the fuel pump system (P & A Fuel Pump & Sending System) was faulty and also needed an ECM update to the programming system. The fuel pump breaking down confuses me because the car will only be 4 yrs old at the end of May, with only a little bit over 31,000 miles on it. This system should not have needed replacing this soon in the cars usage.

The throttle body charge pipe popped off there was a recall that on this car says it’s fixed. We replaced o ring and clip on charge pipe drove car. When we sped up to pass a car the charge pipe popped off car shut off. We had to push the car out of traffic. The car would not start. Error code check engine and engine power loss. Three hours under a Houston TX bridge got a tow. Only to be told that the gasket and clip needed to be replaced. Replaced again gm parts, car still can’t go up hills or sped up. Charge pipe will pop off. The throttle body was checked and the lip on throttle body is still good. But there is too much oil build up on throttle body it appears and the charge pipe can’t stay on. Causing engine failure. This almost got us killed on the highway. Very unsafe please help.

Vehicle cuts off daily. This has been going on for months. A message shows up saying put the car in neutral to restart. Battery and alternator have been tested more than once and they are not the issue. The car cut off while I was in traffic driving across a bridge! I had to get help pushing the car to the side of the road. This particular time the car would not start back up without a jump. Majority of the time while at a red light, it cuts off. After replacing rotors, brake pads, and brake pump, braking is still rough with screeching and grinding leaving lots of brake dust on the wheels. At times the brakes go all the way down.

I was traveling down i-25 at 75 mph because that is what the speed limit here in Colorado. I was traveling south heading to Colorado Springs to visit family and i was entering near Castle Rock and my vechile would not go at all forward and it seemed as if I lost power to acceleration and I believe it was 2 or 3 lanes to exit off an off ramp as cars pasted me by honking their horns it was very scary as I pulled over to the side of the road letting it glide or coast to a stop very slowly I finally came to a stop.. as I have been reading some recalls due too a transmission issues for these types of vechiles I really hope I'm going about it right and someone reaches out to me about what it is that might be going on because even though my car does not have it listed by a Vin number I still believe that my 2019 Chevy Malibu has been subject to recalls for issues including a faulty rear seat belt retractor and a transmission problem that could lead to a loss of propulsion. The rear seat belt recall involves improperly secured retractors, and the transmission recall is due to a start-stop accumulator endcap with missing bolts, which could cause a leak and a loss of propulsion or a fire risk. And would like to have this addressed and or hits the right people concerning this not only for myself but safety for other people traveling at high speeds like myself that night... I was 5 days past my dealership warranty when I purchased the vechile from them and made it 6 days because I could get ahold of anyone on the 5 day when this incident occurred and then I called GM because I believe it would of fell under a drive train warranty but they said which was only 5 years warranty on this vechile from the day it was purchased its first time my vechile only has 82000 miles on it and I got it from a dealership here in Colorado with 64 or 62000 miles and since then I'm paying on a vechile that is no longer in service parked Sincerely and hopefully this reaches the right person...

I have been driving this car for three years, and it performed exceptionally well until Friday, July 12, 2024. While driving on the highway, the "Engine Power Reduced" warning light activated. I pulled over, placed the car in park, waited a few seconds, and restarted the engine, but the issue persisted. Consequently, I took the car to the nearest auto shop, where they identified and repaired a throttle issue. On July 16, 2024, the car's brake system failed, preventing the vehicle from stopping properly. I utilized the emergency brake and once again brought the car to the nearest auto shop. The diagnosis revealed a broken vacuum, which was identified as a manufacturer's defect. My car is currently in the shop for the second repair due to these manufacturing defects, which have incurred significant costs. It raises concerns about the safety and quality of the parts used in the manufacturing process. Why are low-quality components being installed in these vehicles? This poses a serious safety risk.

I went to put car in park and when it was in park I was still getting shift to park alert on dashboard. With this alert I was unable to turn off the vehicle. After about 30 minutes the first time it happened I was able to get it to acknowledge the car was in park by moving my car around parking lot and shifting from drive to park. The next day it happened again but this time I had to jiggle the shifter to get it to go into park after trying for about 30 minutes. The alert basically trapped me in a car that would not turn off. I took it to the dealer service center the next day and was told it is a common problem with my car. Repair bill was $400 and told it was not a recall or something gm would warranty.

GM 2019 Chevrolet Malibu - Report Shift to Park Issue - Mileage 13,784. I would like to report a Shift-to-Park problem I had with my 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. Approximately two weeks prior to this service call I started experiencing a problem with Engine Start/Stop button and “shift to park” message on instrument panel. Pressing Start/Stop button would not turn off engine. It took several attempts to completely turn off engine. Two weeks and issue was getting progressively worse. Finally on Wednesday, March 29th and having started driving errands, I could not turn off engine at all. I could not get out of the car without warning beeps going off. I immediately drove to Dealer Service as I felt unsafe to drive. Dealer Service performed and I picked up car on Thursday, March 30, 2023. They replaced shifter switch and installed jumper harness. Again, I do want to report issue as this car has only 13,784 miles. Thank you,

Exterior Lighting,Air Bags,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

The vehicle experienced a serious and ongoing electrical and system malfunction shortly after being returned from repairs related to a prior accident. Within a short period of driving, multiple warning messages and system errors began appearing simultaneously, indicating failures across several vehicle systems. The issues included repeated computer system faults affecting critical functions. The malfunction made the vehicle unreliable and unsafe to operate, as the errors appeared suddenly and without warning while driving. This created a significant safety risk due to the potential loss of vehicle control and unpredictable system behavior. The problem has been persistent and has not been properly resolved. The vehicle has remained at a repair facility for an extended period, where it has not been successfully diagnosed or repaired due to lack of proper equipment or manufacturer-certified technicians capable of addressing the issue. The defect has been observed but not corrected, and the vehicle has not been restored to safe operating condition. The condition has prevented normal use of the vehicle and has caused ongoing safety concerns. Warning indicators and system messages appeared prior to full failure and continued throughout attempts to operate the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Car remain in shop over 6 months not full repair from electrical problem, head light issues and air bag defectiveness.

I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle was previously involved in accidents prior to my purchase and had known mechanical issues, including a gear shifting problem that was not properly repaired. In February 2024, while the vehicle was insured under Ocean Harbor Casualty Insurance Company, it sustained a significant front-end collision impacting the driver side. The impact was severe enough to cause structural damage, including a dent to the vehicle frame. Despite the severity of the collision, the airbags did not deploy at all. Based on the extent of the damage, airbag deployment would reasonably be expected. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had ongoing issues following repairs, including system errors and concerns that repairs may not have been properly completed by a certified facility. This raises concern that the airbag system may have been defective, improperly repaired, or compromised prior to the accident. I was not informed of any airbag or safety-related defects at the time of purchase from HGreg. I am submitting this complaint due to concerns of a potential safety defect involving failure of the airbag system during a serious collision.

Vehicle goes into near stall instrument panel goes as if you were starting the vehicle gauges go up down then back gas gauge said no gas on full tank , brakes felt as if was gone abs system not responding , engine rough , road had minor to moderate pot holes "Rawsonville Road" when stopped vehicle while running gave msg put in park to shift . , vehicle was in drive once put in park it would not come out of park or realize it was in park . the issue i have been able to determine so far is on the vehicle fuse panel under hood it is connected to the main service disconnect for the entire wire harness "pin connectors male and female over 30 pins , it is held by 2 locking handles all with plastic tabs for the latching , this is failing under driving conditions and coming loose enough to separate contact from 1 or more pins normally on the drivers side . to fix the issues I had to disconnect the service disconnect and reconnect it while securely fastening the handles verified correct and happened again on testing down a dirt road service appointment is thursday -9-7-2022 at mark chevrolet in wayne michigan , i contacted gm and they said it had to be fully tested through a dealer i informed gm this is a major issue and not something i will be paying for it is likely a recallable issue i have seen alot of issues with malibu 2019-2022 having similar issues and are likely caused by the same issue if using this same service disconnect and fuse box likely nullifying the TSA's used for shift to park etc as others have stated and documented those issues repeat . the vehicles modules lose communication with the vehicle via intermittent service disconnect on the wiring harness . "network errors " support this via obd code reader as well as the powertrain hard fault code and the various pending fault codes prior to having to physically disconnect and reconnect the service disconnect fully to restore vehicle function and bring to safe location instead of on side of busy road

Electrical System,Vehicle Speed Control,Engine1 complaint

Numerous accumulated problems, all have complaints already on NHTSA site here. First, Start/Stop malfunction, when it is active when stopped vehicle will stall when it tries to restart when you take your foot off brake and it’s troublesome to restart at times, when that happens lights on dash all come on (warning lights) and radio/entertainment resets as well. Second, the traction control light on dash is on. The warning displays to have traction control system serviced, cruise control is disabled as a result, it’s been to the dealer for both above problems the start/stop problem they say they can’t get car to duplicate although it happens to us almost daily if not numerous times per day. This morning driving home from work the intake charge tube that attaches to intake keeps popping off and engine goes to reduced power mode on highway or wherever driving not safe at all. Saw a voluntary recall from GM going to contact dealer about tomorrow when open. Stereo resets often, completely shuts off and resets while driving at random. I also get the rushing/sloshing water noise other people have reported as complaints when coming to a stop, I read in forums that it’s something to do with low coolant but not low enough to turn on low coolant warning light. GM really needs to address this stop/start and traction control needing service light problems as I read all over the internet of owner’s complaints of same problems I have. Dealerships don’t want to do anything with the cars unles the issue a recall because it comes out of their pockets. So many complaints I read owners keep reporting that dealer “cannot reproduce identical problems” because they don’t want repairs coming out of their pockets only out of GM. I’m going to start filing formal complaints with GM until they get tired of hearing from me and fix some of this stuff or deem it a lemon and get rid of it finally.

I bought the car from Variety Auto in Abingdon VA, and then I had the accident on May 3rd 2022 I took it to the collision center and then after they repaired the body they noticed the airbag lights and the restraint system lights came on also, and when Ramey’s started doing the work for the air, module and wiring harness and air bag they noticed that the wiring harness was not working properly and the air bag was cut completely out they put diodes in the wiring to keep the lights off, they sold me the car saying that there was no airbag deployed but we later found out that it was, and also when I had the accident it didn’t deploy and that’s why is because there wasn’t a airbag in it to start with, if you need anything else we have all the proof of deception by someone and if you need anything else here is my phone number [XXX] you can call me anytime, thank you!!!
