Recalls Reported to NHTSA

The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:ELECTRIC:CONTROL MODULE

NHTSA #24V739000

BMW of North America, LLC. (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2024 X1, X5, X6, X7, XM, 530i, i5, 740i, 760i, i7, and 750e vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.

Reported consequence: A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, malfunctioning ABS and/or DSC systems can cause a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the integrated brake module, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed November 22, 2024. Second letters will be mailed once the parts are available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Service Brakes1 complaint

Component or System: Integrated Brake System Description of the Issue: The issue with the Integrated Brake System on my vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ) was fully resolved by BMW of Fort Lauderdale on January 13, 2025. All repairs were completed, including replacement of necessary components, as indicated in the attached invoice. Despite the repair being finalized, the recall status for my vehicle (NHTSA Recall Number: 24V104) still appears as “Incomplete” in both NHTSA and CarFax systems. This delay in updating the recall status is causing unnecessary complications, as the repair has already been documented and confirmed by the dealership. Request: I kindly ask for your assistance in ensuring that the recall status for my vehicle is updated to “Completed” in your system as soon as possible. All relevant documents are available upon request, and I can provide further details if necessary. Was the problem confirmed by a dealer or service center? Yes, the issue was confirmed and resolved by BMW of Fort Lauderdale. Were there any warning lights or messages before the repair? Yes, a warning message related to the brake system appeared prior to the repair. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Service Brakes,Forward Collision Avoidance1 complaint

The braking system of my 2024 BMW X6 (VIN: [XXX] ) is critically malfunctioning due to the unresolved safety recall 24V-104. The Integrated Brake System has failed, resulting in warning lamps and error messages on the dashboard. This has also caused essential safety systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking, to stop functioning entirely. This situation is unacceptable and poses an immediate and severe safety risk. My family and I cannot rely on this vehicle, as it fails to respond properly when braking is required. It is unsafe to drive under any conditions. I have reached out to multiple BMW service centers in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, Florida, but was told there are no replacement parts available to fix this critical defect. Service advisors advised me to drive carefully, which is an absurd solution for a car in this condition. I financed this vehicle at $1,600 per month, and now I am left with a dangerous and unusable car. I demand that immediate action be taken to resolve this recall, including expediting the availability of the required parts. I also request that I be prioritized and placed at the top of any waiting list to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. This matter needs urgent attention to ensure the safety of my family and others on the road. I urge NHTSA to intervene and work with BMW to find a solution for affected owners immediately.
