Below are recalls and complaints reported to NHTSA for the 2022 Audi Sq8. This information is consumer-reported and provided for general informational purposes only. Vehicles like this may qualify under California lemon law depending on their individual repair history.
The following recalls were reported to NHTSA. A recall does not by itself establish that any individual vehicle is defective.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021 Audi A8 and S8, 2022 Audi A5 Sportback, A4 Sedan, E-Tron GT, Q3, Q5, RS6 Avant, A3 Sedan, S5 Sportback, Q5 Sportback, Q7, Q8, RSQ8, SQ7, SQ8, and S3 Sedan vehicles. The following are consumer-reported complaints filed with NHTSA. These are unverified allegations and are not proof that any defect exists.
Water pump failure at 52,000 miles. Many other reporting same issue. Previous model years covered in a recall. This 2022 is not but should be with all the same complaints out there.
NHTSA #11682137
About a year ago, right after the warranty period was over, the water pump and related had to be replaced and car would not run right. This water pump is a well known issue with audi and had a recall already. My car was the year after but it happens to almost everyone at around 50-55k miles. This 2022 Audi SQ8 should be part of the recall process. It is a danger, it is well documented as a problem and should be fixed.
NHTSA #11736200
Excessive Engine Oil Consumption. Audi Corp is attempting to rebuild the engine vs replacement leading to increased customer risk and downtime. My SQ8 has been in the shop for 250 days due to serval rebuild attempts with the dealer requesting a new engine and Audi denying forcing the rebuild even after several failed attempts. Vehicle will abruptly apply full force braking- Without waring or other vehicles nearby our 2022 Audi SQ8 will apply the brakes to a full stop. This has almost caused a major accident for me and my wife on several occurrences.
NHTSA #11717057
These vehicles are equipped with an automatic start/stop feature to save gas. This feature automatically turns off the engine when stopped at lights, traffic, etc. the problem is that once you apply the accelerator, it can take up to ~5 seconds for the vehicle to start moving and depending on how hard you depress the pedal, the vehicle can start very abruptly accelerating (almost to the point of whiplash). The most dangerous use of this system is when trying to turn left against oncoming traffic. If there is heavy traffic and a smaller gap in traffic, the delay in acceleration could lead to a collision. In fact I would be surprised if this hasn’t caused many accidents especially with less experienced drivers behind the wheel.
